Absolute math geek - he loves it, and it infects the students

Sullivan is a very good teacher. He really knows what he is talking about. He listens to the class and their ideas on how to make the class better for the students' learning. Also, he has a pleasant personality.

He is a pretty good teacher even though my classmates fall asleep in his class, we still like the way he teaches. He is the best teacher i have had at JJC so far. Mr. Sullivan do not listen to any stupid or nasty comments. YOU RULE MEN!!!!!!!

I am not a math person, but Mr. Sullivan is an excellent teacher. Anytime, I had a problem or didn't understand something, he was always available to help. He used applications that I could relate to in everyday language.

I think it's funny that some students don't like him. He's very sarcastic but some people just don't get it. Mr. Sullivan is a great teacher. He wrote the text book for this class. He's not boring, that's for sure. And let's face it--that's rare in the math world. He's young--in his 30s. He paces the class so that everyone can grasp the material.

Mr. Sullivan is an excellent teacher...He breaks it down so you not only understand it but remember it..I have never heard him brag about his life style..and all he wants for his class is to succeed...I recommend him to everyone...

Mr. Sullivan is my favorite teacher of all time--He wants you to understand and will stick to it till you do. I can not see why anyone would not love him as a teacher, he was excellent!!

Sullivan is an ok teacher, he does like to go way off on tangents that can last for a good 20 min. Teaching wise he is a good math teacher, if u have a hard time with math you might want to take a class with him, he has no problems answering questions. He does use power point for his notes so if that doesn't bother you then sign up for him.

Sullivan is a great teacher but does go on tangents about politics and his personal life. Grades were based on attendance, tests, a project, and participation points which weren't bad. If you take well-written notes and understand the examples he gives you which he ALWAYS does, you will be okay on your tests.

I took the on-line class. Well organized and clear about expectations. Allows you to drop lowest test grade if you score higher on final. Responds quickly to e-mail. Tests are like the books problems, he wrote the book you use. Do the homework!

Our class is REALLY quiet so listening to him DRONE on and on is rather annoying. He knows the material, but explains like he would a 3-yr old. Using powerpoint is weird, but he has good programs that help. I might appreciate him more for a harder class, but right now I'd say go for it if you don't really know the material.

Good teacher. I took stats with him, didnt work, but was willing to help. repeats things like "agreed?" Only thing I didnt like was the powerpoint notes. It doesnt work for a math class. But very funny guy and helpful.

Highly recommended. He's determined to teach students in the best way possible & get them to learn the material. Pros: good examples, thorough in explanations, useful powerpoints, funny & creative. Cons: does get off subject but that makes it interesting, there's 1 report to do & he doesn't elaborate on it but grades it fairly easily.

who else to have a class with than the man who wrote the book. He is extremely clear and teaches astonishingly! Recommended.

EXCELLENT PROFESSOR. Took this class in Fall 2009. It's a tough class but the professor made it enjoyable and practical. He is determined to see his students succeed and ensures students understand what statistics is all about. HE IS THE BEST. He also employs methods that make the class fun and exciting.

Prof. Sullivan is a great teacher who wants his students to succeed. There is plenty of online help and his responses are delivered in a timely fashion. If you have to take stats why not with a cool funny guy who actually wrote the book! He is very accommodating and patient. Can't say enough about him. He is my favorite teacher of all time!

The reason why I like math today has to do with this guy. I used to hate math and now I am minoring in it. Kudos to the best math teacher ever.

I hate math and went into this class hating it, but he really helped me to understand and succeed in his class! I would never recommend any teacher more then I do him. He is a total math nerd and his love for it helps to make the class better. Has a good personality and is able to keep MATH fun. A wonderful teacher!!!

First math related class I enjoyed. Most content is online through video lessons, but in class lectures helped solidify concepts. I was resistant to the flipped format at first but it really was helpful. He uses StatCrunch instead of computing everything on a calculator which was nice. Great teacher & DEFINITELY recommend for stats!

Fair teacher although the class was part internet

DO NOT BUY TEXTBOOK- he wrote it but only uses MyStatLab. He is hilarious and very personable. He responds to any questions or concerns promptly and helps with the homework. Tests are very long and challenging. Take lots of notes in class. He gets distracted easily but makes the class very enjoyable.

You do not need the textbook nor a TI-84/5 calculator. Be prepared to do many hours of homework. Pleasant personality and most definitely knows statistics.

I took the online class but in the classroom with the teacher. he is a veryyyyyyy good teacher! i totally recommend!!! there is alot of work and he knows his stuff but its a great class and he is smart. he wrote the textbook!

Great instructor! The material can be difficult and the homework is definitely time-consuming, but c'mon, it is a Stats class. If you put in the effort, you'll do well. Everything is done on mystatlab-no textbook, basic calculator. Sullivan is thorough, fair, and very personable.

Sullivan was probably the best math teacher that I've had the privilege of taking. I don't say that lightly. He recorded himself teaching the in class lectures and posted it on his online course site. It was great. I don't give positive reviews like this all the time. He was very knowledgeable about the subject. Passed with a B.

Great teacher! Took online, but you can tell he knows his stuff. If you need help, he will respond same day or next. If you view his online lectures, do your homework, and take all the practice tests, there is no doubt you can get an A.

TAKE HIM ONLINE. Homework has no due date, and can redo problems unlimited times until you get 100%. Zero quizzes. Just 3 exams then final (all taken on campus, EXACTLY like your homework). A few easy "mini projects", and the major project was optional extra credit for my class. Great teacher, easy A.

Even though his class wasn't the easiest, Sullivan is by far one of my favorite teachers at JJC. He's absolutely hilarious and I could always trust him to answer emails or questions in class. If I need another math class in the future I'll be looking for his name in the class listings. Btw, don't bother buying the textbook he relies on technology.

Extremely helpful teacher, very funny and nice. Made math fun for me and I'm not really a fan of math. I wish he could teach all of my math courses i have to take.

Greatest math teacher I have ever taken. I was reluctant to have to take a math class this year after spending a year away from it, and he made it so I actually enjoyed it. It's mostly a blended class with most of the work being online, but it felt worth it to show up bright and early every morning because I actually took something from it.

Mr. Sullivan is the type of teacher that you need in college! He is very helpful with all of the topics that we discussed in class , and is very good at answering any questions you may have. He truly cares about the students grade and will help you out along the way. Not an easy class, but definitely worth it with Mr. Sullivan!

Mr Sullivan is a great professor! Everything is online you teach yourself but he goes over the material & test are fairly easy like the practice test! I would take him again for another math class! Everything is by online nothing by hand which makes my life so much easier! Very good with grade work! Great stats professor!

Everything is online, it's so much easier that way. StatCrunch will be your best friend, you do nothing by hand, in his words "doing stats by hand is a cruel and unusual punishment". He makes stats easy and fun. Super helpful, funny and you can tell that he truly cares for his students! 10/10 would take again

Easy class to take online! Prepare to make time for the interactive assignments and homework. Print out the Guided Notebook-do not buy! Answer the questions and watch the videos. STAT CRUNCH IS YOUR FRIEND!!! you are allowed cheat sheet for tests. If you have questions please ask him! make sure you do the practice test and mastery homework.

Do the homework! Stats can be difficult for some to understand, but if you do the homework and study you will pass. There was an extra credit opportunity and group work. Don't understand something? Just say so! He will go over it until you do. Great professor and very funny too!

BEST MATH TEACHER EVER. I've never gotten an A in a math class until I took Sullivan. He is very consistent and very helpful. He has a TONE of resources (Super Helpful) in which he explains EVERY topic in ways that everyone can try and learn. I just wish he taught other math classes I need. DO THE HW it definitely makes a difference in your grade.

Its math, almost all classes are going to be tough, and have a lot of homework. A nice thing about this class is he allowed us to work on the HW up until the final exam. Definitely a monotone voice, but hes a great guy and knows his math! Theres plenty of tools that can allow you to get the grade you want.

Prof. Sullivan is very smart & knows his stuff. He can be a little bit of a tough grader but if you put the time & work in you can get an A He will tell you at the beginning of the semester to deticate 10 hours a week to hw & hes not exaggerating but hes a solid professor & a good choice if you want to learn but arent looking for an easy A

Awesome teacher!!

Really good professor. Reads off powerpoints but if you print them out its easy to follow. He gives hw after every section & its not due till end of semester. Class is not easy but if put in the work & ask questions you'll be fine. Does practice exams which are VERY similar to exam. Do the hw! it helps a lot. Requires to buy mymathlab for hw.

Prof. Sulllivan is GREAT at giving feedback that helps and grades everything quickly. The online course is a lot of work, some easy some difficult, but he is ready and happy to help. He gives more than enough time to finish everything. If you "show up" and do the work, you'll pass.

All HW gets lumped into one grade, so most of the points come from the tests. You get a full printer paper (1 side) of notes for each test as well as the instructions on how to use the program to get the answers, so the tests are very easy. Unless you're a stats major, just learn the program and how to get the answers, not the actual material.

Prof. Sullivan is a great professor. I've never been any good at math, but he is great at coaching and helping students achieve their desired grades. He may get a bad reputation for be monotonous, but in actuality he is funny and keeps even math class lively. I would take another course taught by him since he is fair and grades quickly.

The class itself is hard. You have to be dedicated to this course which he informs you the first day! Hes very helpful and upfront about everything. You HAVE to take notes while doing the interactive assignments and homework. You are allowed a cheat sheet for the test which is a plus. Dedicate time to the course and you will pass for sure!

He's the GOAT

Stats is a harder class in general but Sullivan was an amazing teacher. He provides many many resources (he gave us a textbook, notes, MathLab, StatCrunch, has his own website, office hours, email, does videos etc) and answers every question without being condescending. Good lecturer and throws in some humor too. Overall best profesor Ive ever had

Very responsive and helpful professor, had a pretty good system set up for online. Learned at your own pace for the most part.

This is a great class for introductory statistics. Using StatCrunch made statistics a lot easier and the program he used to distribute homework, exams, and other resources worked well at all times. There are a lot of assignments and one can get overwhelmed with the amount of homework due in a week, but staying on schedule diminishes this issue.
