He's a really good professor. He's funny and nice and super helpful when you need it.

He grades VERY hard on papers. He will pick at everything. His tests are hard too especially in 1020. But I took him for 1010 and 1020 bc u know what to expect in his next class. hes a funny guy at times. BUT is a democrat by far lol. Hes a good teacher and knows his english. Very very smart man. This teacher is hard but you will have fun in his class. He does make commits that will make some fell stupid but that made me enjoy the class. He is very clear every thing on the test is reviewed. I have learned more from his class then the sum of all my eng class before.

This class is not for some trying to take ENG-1010 after not being in school for over 10 years! While he was a very nice professor and responded to my e-mail quickly and politely, his web-cased course was just too intense and confusing for me. I withdrew from it and took a classroom based course that explained the material in greater detail.

This man is a genius. Animated & funny. I never saw evidence of him disparaging students. At least he's never made me feel stupid, or maybe I know how to take CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM! Someone wrote that he just doesn't tell you what he wants. He'll LEAD you to the answer, but he won't do the paper for you. What kind of teacher would he be?

His classes are some of the best I've ever taken! He breaks down the material, gives constuctive criticisim, and makes learning fun. Although he's a nit-picky grader, his lessons are designed to help you truly grasp the material- just pay attention in class. A great guy who gives you every chance to succeed. And he's hot!

He pulls the best out of you. He reaches in and causes you to pull out stuff you didn't know you had. He is a great instructor. My first time enjoying English. Oh yes, he is so fine in a cute nerdy way. I would love to take another class taught by him.

This is college. This is what I expect a college level class to be like. Challenging and demanding. He offers so many hours of tutoring you'd be stupid to ignore it if you needed it. If you're looking for an easy A, this isn't your professor. If you're looking to become a better writer, this is your guy. He leaves positive comments on all graded work. This guy is a hard nut to crack but if you do crack him you will enjoy his class. If one expects an easy then move aside cos this is soo not your guy but if you really want to better your writing skills then stick with him. I took his online course fall of 2010. Several students in my class got an A or a B in ENG 1010. If you learned nothing in Professor Suwak's class this describes your behavior: 1) did not read the textbook 2) did not e-mail the professor for help or see him during office hours 3) did not use the FREE tutoring.

Mr. Suwak is a knowledgeable and fair professor. I enjoyed his online class. He was very good at balancing praise with criticism. He never belittled me or made me feel stupid when I made a mistake, and he always complimented me when I did well. He doesn't grade hard, he grades fair. If you want a good grade, then work hard and write a good paper.

I took his online course, so I can't speak for his classrom behavior. I've had no problems with him; his comments on my papers have always been both clear and constructive. He's a strict grader, but that's what I expect from college honors course.

mr. suwak was a great teacher, best one ive had at csm so far. He is really dedicated to his job, and it shows. He was rather difficult to please when writing my papers but it made me just keep trying harder and i really got something out of the class. i recommend mr. suwak to anyone who is willing to put alot of effort into his work.

Great Professor. He is straight forward and to the point while keeping the class interesting. He does grade hard but fair. He offers his students every opportunity to pass. I learned a great deal of useful information and will be looking to take another one of his classes.

Best class at CSM so far. Sure it's demanding, but prof. Suwak has high standards for his students. If you do your assignments on time, apply his critique to your next essay and ask questions there is no reason for not succeeding.The textbook is definitely a keeper. However, I am disappointed that he is not teaching ENG 1020 in the fall.

THE BEST ENGLISH TEACHER EVER

Suwak was tuff. He was very helpful but he graded very strict. Not a lot of leeway, however he was available for help and responded with good timing. He frowned on slackers. If you want a challenge, he is your guy!

Suwak was very hard to figure out. I tried to follow his criticism and adjusted future papers accordingly, with minimal success. I consistently received B’s on my papers. I ended up with a B+ in his class but thought I deserved an A with the work I submitted. He is very quick with emails and gave compliments along with criticism on the papers.

Prof. Suwak is a very energetic and engaging professor with an apparent love for what he does. He does all that he can to encourage his students to do well and "get it". He answers questions enthusiastically, and with great detail. Pay attention, ask questions, and there is no reason NOT to do well in his class.

I took Professor Suwak's class in 2008 and just now felt compelled to leave a rating in regards to his teaching. I didn't continue on with college, but what he's taught me has stuck with me. He doesn't teach from a book. He stands in front of his class and engages his students, encouraging participation. If you like English, you will learn.

Professor Suwak gave out an evaluation paper, just to see where his class was. Basically on my paper he said he was worried about my success in his class. Let's just say I think I did well in his class. If you do not want a challenge do not take. But if you want somebody who is going to push your mind, which thats what college is for, then take.

I learned more from him than most of my professors. He went out of his way to give each student specific feedback that would help them succeed, and he pushed me to do better than I would have otherwise. His standards were high, but that helped me improve. His lectures were understandable, engaging, and entertaining. One of the best, by far.

His favorite word is exigence. I would definitely take his class again. Very helpful man and also liberal minded. I learned so much in Eng 1010. He demands A LOT from his students so if you are not willing to put in hard core effort then start looking for a new professor.

Professor Suwak is a tough grader, but if you come to class prepared with drafts he will give you feedback that is crucial to improving your essay. For most essays he gives you more than one opportunity to bring in a draft, so if you choose not to it is your own fault if you do not do well. Very helpful, and adds humor to his lectures.

Professor Suwak was an amazing instructor for ENG1010. He is a tough grader, BUT you have numerous times to bring him a rough draft to better your essay before the due date. He's very sarcastic, but has a good sense of humor and is highly intelligent. If you show up to class, and participate often he'll be a lot more open to helping you succeed.

I took ENG-1010 during the summer and had to do a 1000 word essay every week. It was so much work but if you send in a rough draft he told you exactly what you needed to fix before submitting the assignment. I really appreciate all of the feedback he gave and how everything was in a timely manner. He will make you work for it but I learned a lot!

I truly enjoyed the class. Picking the exact thesis and figuring out how to approach each topic really exercised this 45 year old brain. I know I'll be using the binder as reference for future courses.

In English 1020 we had 5 essays, 1000 words each but we got draft days where we came in with a rough draft and he looked over and told us exactly what to fix. That was very helpful. You'll do great in the class if you go to those days and do each assignment!

I just had Professor Suwak for 1010, during the January semester. He is an amazing teacher, fair grader and is VERY helpful with everything! He is very funny and makes everything in class relatable. 10/10 would take one of his classes again!

Awesome, awesome professor. Only 5 grades for the whole course, which are all essays. However, he offers ample time for review and feedback, which helps immensely. Suwak is a dope teacher. He does grade hard but as long as you do the research you are golden. A lot of times he allows you to show your essay or draft early to get feedback before its actually due and that helped me a lot. He is eccentric but loveably so. This professor is so amazing. He is super funny and very caring. I don't think there is possibly a more interesting way to explain literature. He is super accessible outside of the classroom. I will admit he can be a tough grader, but every grade felt very fair. I don't think you'll regret taking him at all.

Suwak can TEACH. He knows how to engage his class and get results. He is passionate, friendly, and professional. Be prepared to read closely and often. The material is good, so its not a chore and he helps to translate it (especially with the Shakespeare). Easily one of the best classes Ive taken at CSM. Hes a gem.

Be aware if u are not a strong writer u will get your feelings hurt in this class. There are only 5 essays in the class which mean only 5 grades. He is very helpful and funny in class, definitely attend all workshops he explains what he is looking for and also how he grades. He is heavy in constructive criticism but it has made me a better writer.

English Comp & Lit is a writing class, so you have to read and write about what you read. There is hardly any short-cuts you can take in a class like this. His lectures are fantastic. He gives you a lot of information that can go into your writing(he is also hilarious which is a +) You can learn a lot from him if you try.

I had Professor Suwak for English 1020 and he was great. I absolutely would take a class with him again. A week before papers were due, he had days where he would look over your essay draft with you and make suggestions on how to improve it, which was very helpful and you should absolutely take advantage of.

Having to take all of my courses online because of covid was difficult, but this was one of the few courses that I was actually able to learn in. There are only 5 assignments so that's pretty cool, each assignment progresses in reading length but it doesn't ever become unmanageable. He really figures you out as a writer and sets standards for grading that are tough but fair depending on your writing level. I thought he was really good professor when I took this class last year. The amount of papers required was pretty reasonable. He also always looked at drafts in advance which was very helpful. If you take his class make sure you always show up to draft reviews, it will make a huge difference.

I will be open and honest about this professor. I got an A in his class, and the reason I did was because I attended every zoom meeting. If you don't go to the meetings, then you will majorly be missing out and won't have the information for the essays. He met with me out of class and clearly knows the material. I had Suwak twice. The first time he had taken over my 1010 class and at first, I was failing. Once he took over I began to pass. I signed up for his 1020 class this past 7-week semester and had a similar experience to my first. His lectures are very engaging and keeps your attention. Took Professor Suwak's class for English 1020. In Each class, we would go over the material that you had to write your essay on, so take notes of the discussions! After that, you would have 2 to 3 days of in-class writing time. Suwak would happily read what you've written so far and give amazing feedback on fixing it. Great class overall.

This Professor gives many examples and opportunities to allow you to write a unique and interesting paper talking about a poem, short story, or play and the meaning behind what the authors are trying to say.

Professor Suwak designs his ENG-1010 course in a way that encourages students to explore their writing abilities. We are only assigned 4 essays over the course of the class and he encourages students to submit drafts so that he can provide feedback as the final grader; this gives students the opportunity to perfect their writing as they progress.

Professor Suwak makes the class engaging. He provides detailed feedback and is always willing to help. Unstuck study was a great study tool alongside the textbook and class discussions.

I would highly recommend professor Suwak. Hes a great teacher and pretty funny. He only gives out 4 essay through the semester which is pretty doable. Hes one of those teachers that youll remember forever. Just try your best and pay attention. Also if you have any questions ask he will answer them and give you examples also. Best of luck!

He was always fair and helpful in rating my grades and was engaging in class. As a result, this is the first class at CSM I've felt confident in, and I ended up successfully getting a good grade! Thanks!

Professor Suwak was one of two of my professors in my first semester. He was incredibly supportive, helpful, and encouraging with his guidance in my essay writing. He has excellent communication skills, and very helpful feedback on my writing! I'm looking forward to taking another one of his classes in the Fall!

Professor Suwak is an excellent choice for a class after 1010. He avoids lengthy lectures and excessive homework, maintaining clear criteria and expectations. We explored amazing poets and authors in an engaging environment. I'm serious about my experience. This class was refreshing, with average writing required, which I appreciated.

I failed ENG1010 a previous semester due to the teachers hard grading and hard schedule, Professor Suwak's class changed my mind completely about writing and I actually enjoyed the work I did instead of dreading it

Going into the course, my ability to write an essay was not great. I have been out of school for awhile and was nervous about taking this course. He gave amazing feedback and helped me create organized, detailed essays. I was able to finish the course with a 90+ with his help.

Professor Suwak was very chill, and he put a nice comedic touch onto his lectures. I do not think his class was difficult, he laid out almost everything for you but still gave you room to be creative. I also think it is important to ask questions!! He will answer almost any question unless it is one that disrupts your opinion while writing essays.

I enjoyed taking his class. He allows you time in class to get the 4 essays done and will review your ideas in class before the essays are due. However, the lectures can be drawn out, so i would recommend to take notes in his classes.

Professor Suwak was a great professor! Be prepared for lots of dad jokes. I personally thought he was hilarious at times, the rest of my class just lacked any kind of personality that's probably why they never laughed. The essays were challenging at times but Professor Suwak always gave us a lot of information on topics & gave great feedback!

I took English 1010 with Professor Suwak for a 7-week summer term, and he was an amazing professor. If you show that you actually are trying in class, then he will work with you. He offered office hours via zoom for 3 out of 4 essays and the ability to send a draft of your essay within 6 days of the due date and he provided amazing feedback.

I took Professor Suwak's class in an online, 7-week format. Most of the class was based around three written essays, with little class structure. Professor Suwak reached out to help me plan for my essays, which I greatly appreciated. He gave my essays helpful, constructive feedback and encouraged his class to work at becoming better writers.

He's a great professor, gives clear instructions. Always willing to assist. Made the content more interesting and the overall class was enjoyable.
