Sticks to the lesson plan very well. No chasing rabbits here. Pretty funny, very well spoken and clear. Not boring, fascinating if your scientifically inclined. Easy grades, I deserved a D but got a C.

Mr. Sweet is an icredible teacher. This is the biology class that I learned the most. The subject is not easy, neither is he. He explains really well. So, by really studying the study guide and showing up in classes you'll do just fine.

Great teacher, very strait forward. Everthing is learned in class, and the book is more for support. If you take good notes, and get the labs done, you will have no problem in this class. His Study Guide is right on the dot for his tests, so if you have those down it would be really hard to mess up.

Propessor Sweet ROCKS. 300 is a great class for the summer. Go everyday, take good notes (P.S. buy a recorder) and you will do fine even if you are not into biology. His test are straight for his lectures (I opened the book twice). Make sure you understand everything before you leave class, he is willing to clarify anything you don't know. peace.

Michael is an AWESOME teacher! The field trips are what made the class so great. I didn't even have to open my text. Everything on his exams come straight from his lectures. As long as you attend class regularly and take notes you will do fine in the class! By the end of the semister you will make a ton of new friends!

Awesome teacher! He is extremely helpful and will go out of his way to help you understand. He even has his home phone # on the syllabus! His tests are 99.5% from his lecture notes. Just take notes study and you will learn a lot and pass the class!

Memorizing isnt enough. You have to really understand the stuff. Got a D on the first test. Then I joined a study group and started using office hours. Now Im seeing stuff in my life that he talked about. And Im passing! You can tell he likes his job. Super helpful.

Tough exams, cover a lot of stuff, but he'll help you every step of the way. Interesting info is sprinkled in throughout. Whenever the students got into it, he got more energized. So show some interest and you'll love this class.

My marine biology class with Mr. Sweet was definitely tough. It was challenging but I'm glad I pushed myself which I never really did with my other classes. Loved this class since I learned so much about the subject matter. Study hard for the tests (I wish I had tried harder) since they make up the MAJORITY of your final grade. Take this class!

I've been in college for 6 years at ARC & CSUS and he is the best teacher I've ever had. I haven't finished his class yet, but I already feel like I've learned so much. Before starting BIO 370 I had no interest in marine science. Now I think I want to teach it! His tests are difficult, but study and take good notes and you'll do well.

Pretty much the most amazing professor! You have to take a class from him. He doesn't hand out the grades and you have to show up/study but I've never had such fun in a class! I'd highly recommend him to everyone! Because of the small class size you got to interact a lot with him and the other students. Great class, I had fun and learned a lot!

If you show an intrest Professor Sweet will do anything he can to help and he loves it when you go by his office to review some of the questions. He definately loves his marine Biology. The tests can be a bit tough, but a bit of studying and paying attention in class is all you need for them. I hardly ever opened the book. Plus he liked D&D, a total plus in my book.

i struggled a bit ... but that is because i wasnt putting the effort in. If you go to his office hours you will get test questions and answers from his "test bank". he wants to help and he often works witht he students to help them work through problems to find the solution.

Prof. Sweet was a very great professor. He made the three hour class/lab tolerable with shorter lectures and labs to break up the long day. He was helpful and let you know what he was looking for. His quizzes were somewhat difficult but easy enough if you study labs. The exams were almost easier than quizzes. Take him if you need a bio class.

Toughest class I've had so far. Lots of info, but he's easy to listen to. Fun and clear. Loved the camping trip! It was no piknic but was great to see and touch all the things you learn about in class. In what other class can you watch people lick a sea anemone!

Go to class, take notes, ask questions. Mini quizzes weekly on the labs are easy, and tests are standard- if you went to class/ studied your notes , then you'll do great on the tests. No HW. I regret not giving his class my all, for he really is a great teacher. Always willing to clarify/compromise/etc. I would take his class again in a heartbeat!

Professor Sweet is awesome! The lab work was fun. The weekly quizzes on the labs were easy as long as you understand and study the lab sheets. Exams come straight from lecture notes, which are very thorough if you copy everything he writes down on the board. No homework. And if you go to his office hours, he provides practice exam questions.

Such a good professor. He really loves what he does and his enthusiasm is contagious. It's not an easy class but if you enjoy biology and are a good listener you will do just fine. Lots of field trips, including a 3 day camping trip, was a blast. He expects quite a bit but is very clear and helpful. If you want to learn, I highly recommend Sweet.

Shweeesh, Professor Sweet defines epicness. He is extremely knowledgeable about marine biology, very friendly and open, and has a quick wit to banter with his students. He doesn't make it easy for you, but he makes it possible if you simply work hard. The field trips are awesome, make sure not to miss them.

Sweet is the greatest. I've rarely seen a professor who is as caring and helpful as Michael Sweet. His class is fun but challenging. If you want to succeed in this class be sure to do the extra credit SSC and show up to his office hours. He will take the time to quiz you on material that will be on the test.

I don't think there is a better science prof. on campus! He is absolutely amazing! He explains the lectures SUPER clearly and in a way that is sooo easy to understand. Weekly quizzes are easy but tests are a bit hard. JUST TAKE HIM you won't regret it!

I would like many of my teachers to take Professor's Sweet class and learn a thing or two on how to teach! Being knowledgeable or an expert is not enough and Mr. Sweet knows how to convey that knowledge to students in a positive contagious way. What a difference a good teacher can make!!

There is a lot to learn in Biology and he does a great job of teaching the general aspect of Biology. Easy labs and test are easy as long as you take notes and study. He is a great funny teacher and would take him for higher Biology classes.

This is one of the best teachers I've ever had. I am NOT a mathscience kinda kid, but he made retaining knowledge easy. I really appreciate that he doesn't let any kind of bias come through in his lectures. A lot of male teachers can be really immature when it comes to covering reproduction, but Sweet handles it very respectfully.

Professor Sweet's lectures have the distinction of being able to make sponges interesting. His passion for marine biology (especially nudibranchs) is infectious. He is patient, supportive, and has clear expectations. His field trips are hands-on, immersive, and downright fun. You will not regret taking his class.

Has amazing lectures, but exams are extremely hard. TAKE DETAILED NOTES! All classes are half lab and half lecture. Study for each exam and you'll do great! Your grade is mostly made up of exams and quizzes, gives very minimal homework.

professor Sweet is a great teacher. I had amazing experience being at te zoology section of Bio415. clear grading criteria. helpful and respect students. the material aren't heavy. Text only used in HW's. tests isn't that bad if you keep up with lecture. focus on lecture notes he provides and study review packet. lab test 1st and lecture then.

Very clear and organized despite Bio 415 being very accelerated. Tests based on lecture notes and homework. Labs based on lab. Remember EVERYTHING and ask questions! Tests (95% lecture, couple of readings from book) are tough but he gives you the whole study guide at the beginning of the semester which is basically your homework cause he doesn't assign any. Quizzes each week on labs so study those. He truly wants everyone to succeed, is very helpful, and loves what he does. Take him!

Prof Sweet's Zoology portion of BIOL 415 was absolutely amazing. It was such a fun and interesting class to come too. Labs are easy and very interesting. Lecture exam material comes from the notes and lab exams are from lab. Everything he taught was clear and he's there to help. I would love to have him again. Wish he taught botany portion as well!

The Zoology portion of the class. Glad I took him after the first professor because different teaching style. Allowed a couple times for extra bonus points. Material easier to understand vs Botany. Labs are cool and fun. Talks a little fast in the lecture, but I was able to adapt. Everything in lecture and blue lab papers will be on the exams

You can tell he is passionate about BIO and incorporated his own research into the curriculum which was cool. The greatest professor I've ever had. I took bio 303, I have never been good at any science related classes. He makes biology INTERESTING. However, if you're not willing to put in the time. Dont take this class. His OFFICE HOURS ARE KEY FOT STRUGGLING STUDENTS. He gives practice testing and his STUDY GUIDE is your key to an A. I would take again.

He's an awesome person very smart and caring BUT if you're not familiar or interested in BIO then be prepared for HEAVY NOTE TAKING AND TESTS! I feel like if he would break down the tests into smaller increments rather than take notes for almost a month and then test on it then maybe people like me who are not bio savvy would stand a chance.

Sweet is a good professor but the lectures can be slow and boring sometimes. Exams are neither hard nor easy. TBH I liked the botany part a lot better. He is helpful though and is accessible outside class. For his section,there were 2 lab & 2 lecture exams,2 field trips(pay attention or they won't "help your grade") and some HWs. Study guide helps.

This professor made me love Biology, a subject that I did poorly in and hated in high school. Sweet is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He has amazing lectures that keep your interest, he loves biology and his passion shows through his teaching, and there is 3 fill-in questions for homework due each class. Sweet was a great professor for my first year of college. He makes two 20 minute or so lecture videos every week which are actually pretty informative and entertaining for some reason. You have to take quizzes on those but they're open note and so are all the tests including the final and midterm. So take your notes on them lectures and its easy!!!

He is a really nice caring teacher, and I took his class in 2020 spring with half campus and half online. He assigned little hw and made class so much interesting with his lecture that I never thought I be saying this but biology was fun. I didn't even need textbook, all answers were in notes for all except last final time was too short.

Gives good feedback, cares about you and your grade, your understanding of the material. Quizzes are not too hard nor too easy. Professor Sweet is an excellent professor but he will make sure you are paying attention to everything he is saying. You will have questions on exams that say "what did I say about this" in lecture. Assignments must be completed because exams will ask about solutions to the problems on them. Don't have to work super hard. Might be subjective

Professor Sweet is a great professor and the bio lectures were interactive and interesting. The labs and homework assignments were also pretty easy as long as you took good notes from the lecture.

Pro. Sweet is a sweet guy that cares about his students. He gives great feed back when grading. His online lecture videos are so clear and easy to follow, he makes it all so interesting therefore it is easy to remember. He loves to toss in extra credit points here and there but you only catch them if your paying attention. Michael Sweet is a star!

I took BIOL 303 online with Professor Sweets. It was a great class. Recorded lectures, shot outside in beautiful locations. I was totally impressed by the lecture structures, off-script & very fluid. The lectures were very engaging. He is knowledgable and is great to talk to during office hours. The worksheet labs were super easy. Not a bio major.

I LOVED this class. Prof Sweet is such a good teacher and really cares and puts a lot of effort into lectures and labs and makes it super interesting. I learned a ton in this class. Do the lectures, read the notes, and study for the tests you will pass and gain some awesome knowledge. The labs are really cool too!

Best online professor! He was super nice and easy to contact. His prerecorded lectures made me feel Iike I was in a actual classroom. We barely used the textbook. He did virtual field trips, fun HW assignments, and offered TONS of extra credit. We had 2 short quizes a week, 4 midterms, and a final. Few trick questions on the midterms & final)

Easy, Prof. Sweet seems like he is genuinely invested in everyone doing well and having a good time in his class. His labs are honestly really cool and hands-on and he manages to keep his lectures interesting too. No projects, credit for attendance, lab quizzes every week, homework twice a week, EC opportunity, 3 tests + 1 cumulative for final.

I took professor Sweet for Biol 415, he is really nice and easy grader when it comes to HW and activities. Anyway, the class is extremely hard!!! Lab and lecture seems like 2 different classes. I had to drop the class due how hard was it. I took the same class at Sac state and got an easy A. So my advice is dont take this class at ARC!!!!

Professor Sweet is a good professor. There are four module exams and one cumulative final, so beware! Attendance is mandatory and the class is lecture heavy. He conveys everything clearly and he clearly really enjoys what he does, however I did find the lectures to be dragging at times. Make sure you are taking notes and doing assigned reading.

I really enjoyed having Prof Sweet for Bio 415. I will say that his tests were difficult but he does give you a very thorough study guide for them. You have two mandatory field trips for his portion of the class. He's always willing to go over things with you if you're unclear on something. Take advantage of office hours.

Mr. Sweet redeemed biology for me. He sets students up for success: labs are fun, lectures are engaging, and study guide is a great resource. There is no homework, so it's up to you to pay attention, take lecture notes, ask questions and study well. If you do, you'll have no problem acing the class. Highly recommend.

Great professor, super kind and helpful, willing to be there for you throughout the semester. Offers multiple chances at extra credit, & one required fieldtrip. Grades are mostly based on weekly lab quizzes and big tests, but showing up to class is a must-do for points and understanding the material. Beware, skip class and you'll fall behind!

Professor Sweet is amazing. I appreciated his teaching style, he writes down almost every word he says during lecture, great for visual learners. Class was always engaging and lab was always fun. His tests are not easy but the questions are well worded so if you know the material it shouldn't be too difficult to succeed. Best teacher I've had.

His tests aren't easy, but if you show up to class, pay attention and take notes during lectures, and study it is really not that hard.

Professor Sweet is an outstanding instructor and extremely smart, but the course is quite demanding and difficult, squeezing a significant amount of content into an 8-week timeframe. The lab sessions almost feel like an independent course. Despite the difficulty, his generosity shines through in the form of exam curves.

I found this course to be quite enjoyable, especially in delving into the fascinating realm of the animal kingdom. The field trips provided an engaging hands-on experience. Professor Sweet, in addition to being approachable and kind, demonstrated a commendable level of helpfulness throughout the learning process.

Honestly one of the best professors out there. Science is typically not my strongest suit, but he made it manageable. No hw, but lots of lecture + lab work, but it's all worth it in the end. Do lots of studying for your exams and you'll be just fine. Communicate to him, he's really calm toned and understandable. You got this!

Professor Sweet's course is notably more rigorous compared to Shahrok's, with laboratory sessions feeling like an additional class. However, Professor Sweet mitigates the difficulty by curving exam scores and providing numerous office hours and extra credit opportunities.

He is one of the best teachers! He is literally so sweet and you can tell he genuinely cares for his students. Mr. Sweet is lecture heavy but he writes all the info on the board with you. His labs were interesting and fun to do. I would definitely recommend going to this office hours, that helped me the best when preparing for a test.

Phenomenal. Lectures were concise, clear, and easy to follow, and he uses a lot of real-world examples which helps a lot. Easy 2 minute homework assignments every day, 3 exams and a final, all of which are a breeze if you study your notes. My favorite Profesor this semester , he is seriously committed to teaching and has a way of getting across even the most difficult to understand topics. Extremely kind and patient and always in a great mood !!! He has inspired a new appreciation for biology for me and many of my classmates.

Exams cover lots of material, but match the study guide + lectures/lab info. Goes over practice exam problems after class and gives lots of feedback on assignments/exams. Easy to succeed if you study thoroughly and attend labs + office hours.

Lecture videos are so engaging and interesting. Make sure to make flash cards as you go through the material this will save you a lot of time. Try not to miss class, you can't make up stuff most of the time. But professor sweet is very kind and understanding. I was able to learn a lot in his class and I would 100% take his class again.
