Excellent Phys Prof. Very upbeat and excited about his work. Nice and always willing to help you out. Highly recommended!!
Very Helpful. Good teacher.

Awesome guy! He has a very fair method of grading (extra credit and low test dropped). He explains things very clearly and his tests reflect his notes. Highly reccommend!!
he's a really nice guy, this class was pretty easy, he dropps the lowest grade on tests although he grades homework kinda hard, he has a study group the night before tests, go to them they help even if you think you know the material.
Classes aren't as in depth as they could be but that is made up for with his clear enjoyment of the topic and his readiness to offer aid.
hes hot im not gonna lie.
Wow! I wish every professor could be as interesting as him! He is so helpful and clear in the material. He will definetly be a great professor to have for physics.

Very good teacher...Clear in his teachings and very interested in helping students. Caring guy with a sense of unintentional humor. I would recommend meeting with him at least once in the semester. Good luck!
I loved being in his class, he made the topics very understandable and he was able to apply them to everday life skill which not all teachers are good at doing. Hes very professional in class and its hard to get to see all the sides of him, however i had experiences with him outside of the class and hes is one of the nicest and most interesting people i have ever met. i LOVE Him to death
Class is interesting and fun. To top it all off he is really hot.
Is so hot!
Not that easy, but easiest out of all the Physics prof IMO. Doing the HW is good practice for the exams which sometimes have tricky Qs. Going to his office hours are extremely helpful, he will practically tell you what questions will be on the exams
Hes attractive..but not that hot. He thinks hes the hottest thing though. He goes out of the way to put the most tricky questions on the exam. Did't enjoy the class or him
really nice guy. tests are similar to the homework but he throws some tricky questions in there, but hes a pretty good teacher and he'll help you out a lot if you go see him.
His lectures are very clear. Everything he goes over in class is useful towards the exams. His homework online is also very clear and lets you know what to know for the exams. Sometimes homework problems show up in the exact same format on the exam. He's a very fair grader and truly wants his students to do well. Sometimes hard to talk to though.
good prof. hes very fair, and maybe a little too generous w/ grading. gen phys I is a joke...
I wouldn't exactly call PHY111 a joke. It takes a lot of work to get a good grade. Tammaro is a very good professor and he's clear in letting you know what you have to do to get a good grade, but it's not easy. Everyone I talked to thinks they failed the final.
He is willing to help students whenever he is not in class...can always find him in his office. A fair graded and fairly easy tests...need to study for them a good amount though. Took phy 111 in spring and taking phy 2 in the fall.
Really great professor- one of the best in the physics dept. Tests are not ridiculously easy, but do-able if you study the hw. He is concerned about his students actually knowing the material... he won't make it sooo easy. Go see him if you need help, but be prepared w/ legitimate questions!! You will learn a lot and the lec.'s are not boring!!
Physics is never easy, but if you take good notes and do all the homework problems you will do ok. His tests are not that easy, but he gives an extra 1-5% on your final grade for attendance. Also, he broke the final up into the 4 parts of the semester. If you did better on any or all parts of the final than you did on the test the test was replaced
Tammaro is probably my favorite teacher just cause he's just a fun person. Classwise, physics is hard as it is, but he really tries to make things clear, though his random tangents get in the way sometimes, but totally amusing. If you need to take physics, take it with tammaro. Exams are a bit tough but, it's physics.
Tammaro is a good guy, he does his best to prepare his lectures and make sure that everyone does their best. The class isn't too hard. as long as you DO THE HOMEWORK the exams aren't hard.
I feel he would be a much more effective teacher if in a smaller class setting, often appears to be intimidated by the large number of students in his entry lvl courses

He is the best professor ever!!! I strongly recommend that you take a class with him. He is excellent!!!!...and very nice :)
Great prof who is very interested in his students and really wants everyone to do well and learn. Very nice guy and made class so interesting with experiments!
Clearly lectures & tells you what you are responsible for. Uses props to demonstrate what he is teaching. Always around & more than willing to help. Super great teacher and not bad on the eyes either!
Dr Tammaro is awesome and super nice. Even if you have to change your schedule around, take physics with him. I started the class thinking I would get away with a C, and I came out with an A. He's really clear about what will be on exams, which is just the practice problems he issues for homework. Go to lecture every day and you will be fine.
An interesting and understandable lecturer. The props make things more engaging. He's quite good at explaining things and doesn't cover too much material to process or remember in one day. He is the kind of science teacher we seriously need more of, at all levels in our education system, and I definitely recommend him.
Awesome professor. If you go to class, he teaches everything you need to know concisely and does homework problems in class. Talks fast but really knows what hes talking about and explains well. He does little experiments and demonstrations that make class much more interesting.
Professor Tammaro is a great teacher. Willing to help student. Definitely recommend him.
I am not good in physics at all, but it was extremely helpful having Tammaro as a teacher. He is very nice if you need help and go to his office hours he will help you with anything you don't understand. I came out with a B in 111 and 112 with him. If you are not good in physics take it with him. Makes it easier for his students.
simplifies complex material
Take it with Malik if you can. Tammaro is a good teacher, but exams are ridiculously difficult. However it is nice that you can replace your grades from exams with the grade you got for that section of the final.
Exams are way to hard. Everything makes sense during class.. then when he gives you the exam you're blindsided. Isn't clear on what he expects you to know for exams/final. Aside from that, very nice and personable professor. I would take it with another professor if you want to do well gradewise.
Gives students tons of chances to get a better grade, drops low test and final scores. Don't know why people think the test are hard, he says exactly what questions will be on the tests. Pay attention to the example problems in class and remember how to do them for tests. No need to buy the book he gives all equations needed in the lectures.
Tammaro! Probably the CHILLEST professor you will EVER have at URI. he's an all around great guy and an excellent teacher. If you go to class and pay attention he tries wicked hard to make it interesting with examples and demonstrations that make it all make sense. TAKE PHYSICS 111/112 WITH HIM! I got a C in highschool physics, but A's with him.
He's a very tough professor with difficult problem sets. He isn't very clear in class as far as what you need to know for exams. I think it may be best to take it with Malik. Although he doesn't teach, if you read the textbook his exams are easy relative to the text questions (at least that is what I heard).
Great Professor. I took this class on the Providence campus. If you are willing to put the time in and complete the online homework thoroughly, you can get an A. If you need to take physics and get an A for grad schoolmed schooletc. take the class with Tammaro!
His exams can get a bit difficult. He makes you read the book and gives out reading quizzes before each class and that serves (as he admitted) an excuse for him to not be very detailed in lecture. I got B's with him in 111, but in 112, I'm really struggling here and I do put the work. In 111, he was a much better teacher. He's changed.
Personally I love physics, so this class was a breeze for me. But even still, he made it very easy to pass. His exams are almost identical to his in class lectures or practice problems. If you pay attention and do the problems you'll already know how to answer the exam questions.
He is okay as a teacher, relatively clear when explaining material &makes sure to do examples in class. Is slightly obsessed with the fact that he wrote his own textbook (that is not used for the class)&uses his own reference sheet for exams. His slightly boastful attitude makes it a little hard to approach him for help. Also not as hot as u expect
I took this class in Prov and it was fun to go to. Most of the learning was done on your own before class in reading the book and hw problems. Most problems on exams came directly from quiz problems, book problems, and group work problems. I liked that he also taught lab. Go to his office, he's really nice & helps if you have legitimate questions.
He's a nice guy, if not a bit awkward. He also kind of reminds me of Chris from Parks and Rec for some reason. He's a decent lecturer and doesn't go on too long in the 3 hour time slot. He wrote his own book, which is good, but the homework online doesn't work half the time. Good grading scale after the end of the class.
Excellent professor. I'm so envious to see a professor that is so enthusiastic about his profession. Relates every subject to common real world scenarios. He uses his own textbook that he wrote and allows everyone to use it for free at the moment.
Unlike everyone else I had a terrible experience with this guy. Found that he made material extremely confusing. Went to office hours for help and barely received any. Would never take a class with him again. He also refused to work with me and gave me unnecessary attitude in my emails pleading for help
Took Phys 111 and 112 with him. He presents the material in a very easy to understand way. If you pay attention and write good notes then it's an easy A. He offers material from semesters before so be sure to go over the stuff like group work and past exams if you want to know what to expect on your exams. Great professor overall.
Fantastic Professor. Clear lectures and clear expectation.
He's a really smart guy who cares about the material and about his student's success, but I found this course impossible. His lectures confused me and the homework was impossible and took me hours. The exams were short and straightforward but still tricky. He has good intentions but I was genuinely confused most of the time.
By far the worst professor I have ever had at my time at URI. The fact that this man gets away with testing your knowledge based off of only 2 exam questions is ridiculous. This class ruined my GPA due to his flawed grading system.
Exams are completely different from hw and in class examples. Expects a lot from students, even though its only a 100 level course. Genuinely is a nice guy buy makes exams HARD and with only 2 questions so its basically a zero or a 100 scenario.
Tammaro has got to be the best professor to take a physics lecture with. He solves and explains some of the homework questions in class, so I would say going to class is an important part of getting a good grade. Exams are only two questions but he makes a lot of accommodations with grades including a scale, extra credit, and dropping lowest scores
His tests were super hard in the beginning because I didn't know what to expect and then I started to understand how to study for them. (Go over your homework problems again and do the hidden questions within the reading) He gives you some credit for you work. He also curved the grading scale a lot which helped my grade a lot.
He totally sucks. All he does is brag about his book that isnt published. His tests are waaayyyy too hard, on top his lectures gave no information. Oh and, the cherry on top, forget about ever asking that guy for help outside of class cause it wont happen.
Tammaro is a great professor but his class is challenging. I had VanTonder for 111 and Tammaro for 112. VanTonder was easy, and I learned nothing because I didnt have to study, all his exams are online and you can google the answers. If you want an easy A take VanTonder if you want to learn something take Tammaro.
My favorite professor thus far at URI. Listen to his suggestions on passing his exams. Read thoroughly; homework and reading assignments! He's an email away if you need help. He encourages all his students. No regrets! I wish I had him for every science class. Difficult subject but he's the perfect professor with an easy to understand approach.
Certainly prepares the students to answer any questions that may come their way, although not entirely sure I gained abundant conceptual knowledge. Other than that, pay close attention to the study guides provided, and redo any homework problems that the study guide suggests. Best way for success on the exams.
I LOVED Dr. Tammaro's class. He's one of the best teachers I've had at URI. Amazing guy, super fair, and really makes you interested in Physics. His lectures encourage critical thinking and he makes physics relate to everyday life super well. A hidden gem at URI.
Professor Tammaro is a great professor. He uses class time and multiple examples to teach the material through practice problems. He often goes over homework problems in class and is always happy to answer questions. If I had one of the other professors for this course I would not have done anywhere near as well as i did
I do not go to URI, but I took his summer course, and he is an excellent lecturer. He's a no-nonsense kind of teacher which I really appreciate. As long as you put in some effort, this class is not bad at all and you actually learn. He's also really willing to help and answer your questions. I highly recommend!
Exceedingly average. Not a bad lecturer, but not the best. Ok at explaining, but not great at it. Tests are hard, but not impossible. He seems like his main goal in every class is to end it early, I can't even remember the last time a class lasted the whole 50 min. Very rushed example problems and rarely walks through them entirely.
Tammero > Coyne. I will be taking him for 112 as well. Not the best lectures but he scales each of our test grades by a lot. Then scales the overall average at the end. Cares for his students. Zoom proctored exams, 3 questions, 50 minutes. 5 exams and an optional final. Weekly homework
If you can avoid taking a physics course with him, do so. The entire class is based on 4 exams with only 4 questions each exam; not to mention its worth 80% of the final grade. The other 20% is homework (which is incredibly difficult & time consuming). Spends more time trying to catch students "cheating" than teaching the material.
Attending lecture is crucial, he doesn't post slides and used his own book. We have quizzes every week, so 10 quizzes total, each 2 questions and they were confusing. The quizzes are worth a lot of the final grade, but he also drops and replaces low grades with the final exam. Homework is due every week and he teaches by going through examples.
Professor Tammaro is a great lecturer for physics. Clearly teaches the material and wants everyone to excel in the class. Has dropped and replaced many quiz scores so everyone in class does well. Emphasizes his office hours for extra support. Would really recommend taking this class with him!
First physics class Ive ever taken & I loved it! 10 quizzes throughout the semester and its always super clear whats expected of you. Do the HW & old exam problems provided and youll get a 100 every time!! Very accessible, simplified content. Highly recommend if you want an easy class. Best professor Ive taken so far
You take a weekly quiz with two questions but they are not all or nothing. Two lowest quiz grades are dropped and two more can be replaced with a final exam score. Weekly homework with thirty chances per questions. Great lectures and easy to prepare for quizzes with provided practice problems. I'm taking his PHY 112 next semester
He is the best. I had him for phy 1 and 2 and did well in both. He has 2-3 lectures and then a quiz. Each quiz is heavily based off of the extra practice problems on brightspace. Before each quiz I would do those problems and would get in between a 90-100 on every quiz. The final is one question from each chapter. He really cares about his students
I took Prof. Tammaro at Providence College for Physics 1 & 2. He is very straightforward. Gives you exactly what you need for exams. As long as you take notes during lecture and do the homework!! you'll be golden. He is extremely helpful/understanding/accommodating. He is very good at making real work connections to the lecture material.
Focused heavily on weekly quizzes, which amounted to tests. Homework and lecture problems were relatively easy, the quizzes however were far more difficult. Class averages were often at or below failing. He did give partial credit points for trying the problem even if the answers weren't correct.
Worst Professor Ive ever had. Doesnt teach anything in the lectures all you do is get told a few equations and then do a homework problem. There are quizzes every week that are worth basically your entire grade but he doesnt teach to allow you to do good on the quizzes. If you go to him for help or to ask what you did wrong on a quiz he wont help.
Doesnt teach then gives weekly quizzes. Quizzes are nothing like the homework and practice they are much harder. Its like he wants you to struggle and fail.
super nice and funny professor, he actually wants you to learn. homework is easy if you pay attention to lectures, and weekly quizzes are taken right from the homework. answers questions clearly and provides lots of resources for studying
Tammaro was an amazing professor from the beginning to the end of the semester. He can sometimes get carried off topic by his own words but retraces back to the topic very quickly. He makes things incredibly easy to learn and I found that I did horrible on the chapter quizzes if I didn't go to class. There is a textbook, but he loosely follows it
Decent guy, but not a great teacher. He does give you practice problems to work on, so if you want to pass the class, those are a MUST.
He was okay. I don't think his teaching style was for me because he would just do practice problems without giving background on the equations or how to use them. The quizzes were based on the homeworks and he gave about 10 quizzes and 1 final, I think 8 counted and if you did well enough you didn't take the final if I remember correctly.
Professor Tammaro was a great physics professor. His class is very well structured and easy to follow. Just do the homework before the quizzes and you will pass!! Quizzes do consists of 2 problems but examples come from homework, so again as long as you do the homework before you will be pass. 10/10 recommend him for physics!!!!!!
Very good professor, gives lots of resources for studying and grades homework based on completion. Attendance is never taken, but he is very accessible outside of class. Exams study guides are almost identical to the exams themselves. Gives partial credit and forgiving grading scheme.
GREAT PROFESSOR LOVE THIS GUY GREAT GUY THANK YOU SO MUCH VERY NICE
best physics professor ever, no exams just weekly quizzes and he tells you exactly whats on them. gives you the whole semester to complete the hws and does a lot of example problems in class. super chill and doesnt require attendance but everyone goes to class anyway.
His lectures were not my style, he moves very fast in class and is all over the place. His lectures are just going over problems from the required hw website. I didn't attend lectures and I taught myself the material from the website and understood everything well. He gives weekly quizes, and gives you the entire semester to do the hw.
Prof. Tammaro's course was extremely organized and straightforward. He provides exactly what is going to be on the exam prior to the exam, meaning there were little to no curveballs on these exams, as a majority of the questions came from the homework or recitations. Very understanding and easy to reach out to.
Knows what he's talking about, explains equations well and reviews homework during class. It was his first time teaching 204 this year, but he added old material from other professors. Teaching style is unorganized but he gets ideas across and is accessible outside of class. He takes student feedback and applies it well. Forgiving grading scheme.
He does 2 question quizzes, and they are straight forward from the practice problems he provides. They are altered and changes the concepts a bit so, just make sure you cover the whole unit when studying for each quiz. He is very good lecturer. If you meet with him, he will be understanding and flexible with grading. Very grateful for my grade
Tammaro is the BESTTTTTT!!! He cares so much about his students and wants them to succeed. He is very kind, approachable, and willing to help you understand the material if you are struggling. 10/10 professor.
Some of the early content is difficult but he does his best to make it fair and will give you points back a lot of the time. hes not a super strong lecturer but the exams are very easy. hes also very nice to everyone.
