Our grade consisted of 3 online tests, 10 open note online quizzes, a project, and assignments. For the project, we had to prepare a detailed expense tracking sheet with all of our expenses for a month and more. We had to prepare a statement summarizing the sheet along with income (amounts for bills if no income) and a two page write up. Energetic

Dr. Thomas is such a gem! The class was an easy A, and this guy cares a lot about the students in the class. He doesn't force you to participate and is always laughing and smiling. The stuff you learn in this class is so useful for life no matter what your major is.

He was the best professor I have at had at this school.I loved the little comments he gave back from the papers. I made B's on all the tests and still got an A in the class. I didn't do any of the extra credit, but it was offered.

He was a great professor. I would recommend any business students, especially finance or real estate majors, to take his intro to personal finance class early. He teaches the Time Value of Money concepts better than any of the business professors. It will be much easier to understand FINA and REAL classes if you've learned TVM from Dr. Thomas.

Easiest class ever. You only have to show up at the end of class for the Top Hat code. All assignments, tests, and quizzes are online. So much extra credit. He really cares about his students and wanting to get them a good grade.

FANTASTIC professor! Each time I went into his class he made me smile. Dr. Thomas makes great jokes that relate to the material and showed many videos along with PowerPoints to keep things fresh. He had the smoothest transition to online classes, as he did virtual office hours on Zoom anyway if you couldn't make it to him in-person while on campus

For Fall 2020, this class is a breeze with it being online for the most part. I've heard that it not being online was an easy class too. Very informative and Dr. Thomas is a great chill teacher who makes the class fun. 3 exams, 10 quizzes with extra credit, and 5 easy assignments. Easy A and some great knowledge.

Dr. Thomas is one of the kindest, smartest, most wonderful professors I have ever taken. He imparts a lot of wisdom, his quizzes and tests aren't hard if you go to class and just pay attention, and he laughs a lot. One of, if not the, most enjoyable professors to have.

Very important life skills taught in his classes. He really cares about his students, and puts a lot of energy into his lectures. The class is not hard at all and I think that's important to not repel students from the material. Get ready to do some reflections though, but they're kind of fun.

Professor Thomas is very passionate about the concepts he teaches. His tests are relatively easy if you read the PowerPoints you'll be good to go. He is always willing to help out with any problems. There's no need for a textbook just the powerpoints are enough.

Thomas is probably the most caring professor I have ever had. You can tell he actual cares about his students and the class is a breeze. There are quizzes every week but they aren't challenging if you look over the PowerPoints beforehand. If you are looking for an easy elective that actual has real world application, this is the class for you

Thomas is the most genuine person I have ever met. He truly wants you to succeed in life. Know how to calculate the time value of money and just put some effort in and this class will be a breeze. But don't leave it without at least having now conversation with him. He is so kind and his lectures are like a church service.

Dr. Thomas is a really smart, caring, great professor. However, I took this class wanting an easy A, and I got a B-. So if you want an easy A, but you know you'll slack off on some boring assignments, you might get a B like me. I'm not a finance person, so it wasn't interesting to me, just a boring online class. But Dr. Thomas is great either way.

I took this class as an easy upper level elective, and its probably the easiest class Ill ever take. However, this doesnt mean that the class is boring or isnt useful. I really enjoyed Dr. Thomas; he was funny and had reasonable expectation. There are quizzes over every chapter, but they are open-note- two big projects and no final!

This may be the most useful class I have taken. Even if you aren't a business major, take this class! It is an easy A and you learn things that are important in life. Dr. Thomas gives interesting lectures and all of the quizzes and assignments were easy. There's only 3 tests the entire semester and you do not have to devote much time to the class.

great professor. took this class online and he uploaded material on Monday and would all be due Sunday. weekly quizzes (very easy if you look at his slides/videos). tests were fair if you know the material. few projects which were very easy. took this for upper division class but definitely helps in the real world

This class was one of my favorites of all time during my college experience. Rather than it feeling like a typical lecture, he provides you a way to have this feel like a personal growth with your relationship with money. He definitely has clear criteria on what to understand and how to master it, and the projects were pretty interesting.

Dr. Thomas is a very caring professor who obviously loves his job. I recognized that he was unfamiliar with the new textbook for this class which made him a but uncomfortable. He did a great job powering through though. Always super friendly and opens class with a discussion on whatever students want to talk about as it relates to stock. Great guy.

He is the nicest, most understanding man ever. However, I was informed this class was an easy A-- surprise! If you're not strong-suited at math or economics or business, I would NOT take this class just to fulfill any intro-level credit at the university. It definitely requires a lot of thought and application of concepts and equations.

He is just a great person, you can tell that easily through his engaging lectures. He makes everyone feel heard and respected as well. I think that the class was decently easy, you do have to work to get a good grade, but it is very straight-forward. Cannot go wrong with taking this class though

Dr. Thomas is AWESOME. Such a nice, caring guy and it shows. This class was super easy, but there were a decent amount of assignments. Weekly quizzes which are manageable, and 3 online tests. I haven't been to class once since before the first test, I just stayed on top of checking ELC. Definitely take this class!

Took this class online so I never met him in person, but Dr. Thomas seems like a nice guy. Information is extremely relevant and useful and I am very glad I took this class but beware- exams are pretty tricky and do have a good bit of finance based math questions on them. Listen to lectures very carefully and take good notes and you'll be fine.

Dr. Thomas is super kind and knowledgeable. You can tell that he cares about his students and their success. This class is well structured and very easy if you do all the assignments and take good notes. Would definitely recommend this class if you need something low-maintenance in your schedule.

Dr. Thomas gave amazing lectures and often explored real-life examples of personal finance topics. He used class time to inform the class about some important topics of personal finances that were not in the PowerPoints. These topics would later show up on tests. The class flows nicely and gives plenty of opportunities to learn the material.

Thomas is so sweet. Lectures are informational and also incorporate real life. We did a personal budgeting project and that actually helped so much. Exams were easy. Will be taking another one of his classes.

Overall he's a pretty good lecturer. He genuinely cares about his students and makes that pretty clear at the start of the class. Whether or not you wanna show up is up to you since he posts all your assignments including notes, quizzes, and tests on ELC. If you want an easy A and want to learn good financial skills, this is the class for you.

Dr. Thomas is one of the most passionate professors at UGA. He teaches personal finance and explains it in a way that can be understood by everyone. However, for someone who is already savvy in finance, this class is redundant. The tests are online and easy.

Dr. Thomas is great at explaining terminology but will not cover everything for the exams. Be sure to read the book and look into the SIE opportunity early, as he did not explain the opportunity fully until the last month of the semester. Overall, a course of average difficulty, including a few exams, a two-part project, and weekly quizzes.

As everyone has said so far he's an awesome professor it really is an easy A only IF you actually take the time to review the materials yes you don't need to show up but yes you do need to go over the slides and make sure you understand it as the questions are mostly rhetorical and not exact as shown on the slides! I didn't go to class after the first day and got an A. Some conceptual questions on test but answers can usually be found online. Overall, good GPA booster.

Prof. Thomas is pretty good. The course is so easy that you don't have to attend lectures AT ALL, and still get an easy A. Just look at slides/quizlet for quizzes and exams and do all the assignments. It felt like he was doing a TedTalk every lecture so I stopped going, but class is super easy for Upper Div Elective.

Dr Thomas does a great job at making projects meaningful. You get to analyze 2 stocks in excel over a 60 month period and compare important ratios when deciding how to allocate "x" amount of money to build the optimal portfolio. Also get to work on a 15 stock/etf portfolio doing a similar task but more in depth.

Dr. Thomas is a very passionate lecturer. He's a funny guy, easy to talk to and very relatable. At times, he seems to go on tangents, and it can be hard to follow along. Overall, a pretty easy and useful class. If you have to take FHCE 4200 I would recommend it with Dr. Thomas.

He has some actually meaningful assignments, gives good feedback, and will answer any dumb question/email you send him. I found his tests to be a little on the harder side, but got Bs on all of them, so they're doable..

Literally only went to the very 1st class and got an A. Biggest tip: KEEP TRACK OF ASSIGNMENT DUE DATES! Quizzes can be hard sometimes but I never got lower than a B. Assignments are easy and usually yield an A. Make sure you know when quizzes/assignments are due because they are usually due on a Sunday and you get no reminder. Take this course!!!

Easy, manageable upper division Terry elective - take this class!! Attendance isn't mandatory (although some exam questions are only mentioned in class), slides are posted, and weekly quizzes/assignments are due every Sunday. Professor Thomas is a highly qualified and passionate lecturer who cares immensely for his students, I highly recommend.

He doesn't care if you come to lectures and is very lenient. Slept through a quiz multiple times but he gave me many chances to remake them, and I am grateful. I'm excited to have Prof. Thomas in person next semester. He's intentional, involved in his students' lives, and a great model of how to live as a Christian. This was an online course. There were 2-3 hours of lecture videos each week and either a quiz, project, or test. The workload is manageable, but be sure to keep track of all the due dates. This course is super helpful and covers topics like insurance, taxes, savings, and investing. An easy elective. Textbook is not necessary.

He is literally the INSPIRATIONAL PROFESSOR you see in the movies. I genuinely enjoy his lectures when I am present because I can tell that he loves his work as well. Super engaging and entertaining. It is highly refreshing to be in a class that is easy to manage and that you actually want to participate in. One of my favorites of all time!
