Great
Very scatterbrained teacher, has no lesson plan. very unclear with instructions. When asked for help exclaims "you should already know this" and makes little effort. Makes things even more confusing by incorrectly doing examples. Makes his own tests which are not easy. I do not recommend taking his class.
run and don't look back
Professor Tibbetts can't teach, his lectures are not understandable, and has no lesson plan, EVER. Many other students and I are learning online. The only good thing about him is that he grades easily. Avoid his class at all costs, unless you can teach yourself or love reading a math textbook.
He leaves you be and I like that. He really doesn't teach because we have an online program. But overall I liked his class.
The lecture has no process or notes that actually allows you to learn. He expects you to come into class with prior knowledge of what we are supposed to be learning that day. If you have issues learning solely off a textbook do not take this class with him. He is all over the place during his lecture making it very confusing.
He's cool bros. A++ 10/10
A lot of learning is out of the textbook
You don't really need to show up to class. I hardly did. All your assignments including classwork is completed online. You have to make sure to complete the topics necessary for that week or else it WILL be exhausting to finishing the program on time. The content isn't difficult but the program is tricky. I recommend going to the tutoring center.
This professor wasn't my favorite. His teaching methods were strange, and most of my class was not able to follow his examples. He is very intelligent, but not the greatest at teaching to get the topic across. I had to teach myself from the book to pass the class. If you take this class, then prepare to teach yourself.
He was nice, but he didn't give back papers, so I never knew what I did wrong when I lost points. He wasn't familiar with the program or hardware we were using for this lab, so if you wanted help because you were getting bad data, he couldn't do much. No reports was nice, but I didn't learn anything. NO CONCEPT OF PERSONAL SPACE. AT ALL.
Tibbetts is alright. Students complain about him because he doesn't spoon feed students hw answers. He gives out random quizzes, and only expects you to complete 70% of the hw which he will give you full credit on. He gives out a take home exam, and the rest were in-class group exams. Easy class just read the book, and ask for help if you need it.
This was my second time taking Prof. Tibbetts. Here's how it is: Sucks at teaching. he knows the material, but he can't project it well. All tests are with groups, which is nice. He curves almost every test. Quizzes are easy points & the only reason you need to go to class. Homework is all online and he usually extends the deadline every time.
The best teacher I have ever had! He will help you and work with you. He is definitely too smart, make sure too ask questions and slow him down a bit. If you skip classes you'll miss the quizzes which are pretty easy.
I took him over the summer for my 2nd stab at Calc and have him again for 211. The criticism about lack of teaching is fair, but he's a genuinely nice guy and he really tries, which is more than I can say about past professors. Quizzes are easy (usually over recent stuff.) and the exams are very forgiving. He's not the best, but neither the worst.
He's a good person and a good professor, but he doesn't teach the information, you have to learn the material online. The class itself is basically supplemental to answer questions and briefly go over concepts. The tests are taken in groups which is nice and the homework is usually not too bad.
A nice man but can be absent-minded. He gets tripped up over his own practice problems often. Pop quizzes are easy if you come to class prepared. Exams are moderately difficult. Hell answer any question or work a requested problem on the board. You'll pass if you motivated enough to try to figure HW out on your own and ask plenty of questions.
Tibbets is a good professor, if you need any help he is willing to give you back extra points if you go to his office hours. The material was tough but if you ask him how to do the math after class he will probably explain it better. During lecture he is a bit unorganized
Honestly I love this guy. I like never showed up to class so I got zero's on the pop quizzes but because I did well on the midterm and final he dropped all my zeros so I ended up getting an A in the class
From what I can see, people are unfair in rating Dr. Tibbetts. This class was not hard at all. I came in multiple times when it wasn't office hours or an appointment, and he always helped. Somewhat homework heavy, but same as all MAT210 classes, and is all online with multiple tries. Students who got under a B are allergic to work.
An easy class make sure you do your work, and you can get an A easily. If you ever have a problem, he's always willing to help out.
Professor Tibbetts is very kind. He is always willing to help those who are struggling with the content of the course. This specific course is very simple and as long as you do you work it is an easy A. If you miss a deadline and talk to Tibbetts about it he is willing to work with you as well. He does not take attendance either which is nice.
Very easy class. Professor Tibbets is very helpful and if you go to his office hours he will absolutely help you learn everything you need. I recommend him for ACO100 and for MAT210
Mr. Tibbetts is very helpful and flexible. He responds to emails within hours and sends reminders and provides important information on the announcements.
Mr. Tibbetts is a very lazy teacher. He has no desire to help you learn the material. If you plan to pass his class you are required to read the textbook instead of him teaching. When you ask a question however, he never fully understands the question and doesn't give the answer you are looking for. He knows the information but cannot project.
When I asked him for assistance on my math homework he attempted to solve the problem incorrectly 7 times then asked me what math class my dorm mates were in and recommended they help me with the problem he couldn't solve. He also starts many math examples and cannot solve them past a few steps and then says we the student can figure the rest out.
Mr. Tibets is the worst math teacher Ive ever had. You learn from the text book instead of him teaching. He doesnt explain well and expects you to know everything off the bat. I wouldnt recommend anyone to take his course. He believes that the best teaching method is to let the students read the text book and ask questions about the homework.
ACO100 should be an online class but it's not. Attendance is not necessary at all. You can learn everything and do everything online. The Professor doesn't really seem to know whats going on half the time.
Tibbetts is an amazing guy! You might have to put a little effort into reading the textbook, but if you come to class prepared he is great. He always sets aside time to go over student questions and homework. He wants his students to succeed and will offer extra credit if requested. Expect a consistent level of homework, but he is often flexible.
This class should have been online rather than in person. He's absent minded and prone to unrelated tangents (like his obsession with his handwriting). Book was mandatory. Projects were complicated & convoluted. He borrowed material from another teacher. Accessible and helpful in office hours but otherwise lazy. Would not recommend or take again.
All in all, this professor has his programs complete the course for him; or at least someone's programs. The course was super easy, you literally can't get anything less than an A+ if you do the work (it tells you what to do). My only complaint is the syllabus isn't updated periodically; the Final is proctored and needs to be scheduled:Schedule it!
He wasn't the best at teaching the material, but the tests and quizzes were all easier than the homework (how it should be). He also had the class out of 500 points, but we had 700 points in assignments. So, you had a really good opportunity to get enough points to get an A.
This class is basically at your own pace. You can complete exams, projects, and training online. If you need help with the project, he goes over it in class. He is really nice, but kind of boring. It is impossible to get a grade lower than an A+.
Very helpful and quick to answer questions. Wants students to succeed and makes himself available outside of the usual 9-5 business hours.
Prof Tibbetts is just a real nice guy. He cuts you slack whenever its really needed and gives you way too many chances honestly. He lets you do self paced work and if you get ahead you dont even have to show up to class anymore. If you take this class with him it's a breeze.
I'm still currently enrolled in this class but this professor is amazing! He allows students to work ahead, and if you do you are not required to come to class. There is a quite a bit of work but it is all super easy. Such a nice guy.
Prof Tibbetts is a bit disorganized, but very accessible. He knows the material well and provides everything you need to succeed. If you don't get an A+ in this class, it's due to laziness; there is a lot of work to do, but it isn't difficult at all.
He is very caring, but if you are bad at math do not expect him to teach you. It is soley through alexs and self paced. I spent like 5 hours a week on ALEKs for this class.
This class was really easy to pass and you can finish it early if you want. The homework was easy and there are weeks where you can make-up the work. It consist of weekly assignment and a final project. No book is needed but you will need to do homework through cengage. Attendance isn't mandatory and the professor is really nice and helpful!
The class is entirely self paced with plenty of time. You get a week to do 3 things that take 2-3 hours max to do. The projects are the trickiest part but Tibbets will go over them in class and basically explain how to do them.
This class is not pen and paper it's on a program called aleks so everything is on you and you alone. He will help you if you are stuck also there are TAs there for help too. Overall this class was very easy if you actually try.
Best professor ever ,hes very understanding and will work things for you if your grade isnt in a good place .The course is on Aleks and it is a lot of but just dont fall behind and you should be fine .
The class is mostly self-paced, in that you can work ahead and he often extends due dates to accommodate students. On zoom he can be a little scatter-brained, however, you can tell he knows the material really well and can respond to specific questions thoroughly. He is very accessible through email, too.
This class is very easy to complete, and self paced to an extent. I was able to finish class work within two months, including the final. Very open for questions during class and office hours.
Adopted the MAT243 class from Haiyan Wang but did a great job. Extremely easy class, HW was 70% of the grade. Midterm questions were pulled almost directly from the homework, but the final was a bit trickier. Homework was a sinch, webassign with 5 attempts each. Only complaint is that the class was expensive, over $150. Great professor though
Had lots of anxiety about this class, but it was okay. Was manageable and not a lot of pressure. Professor shows class how to figure out confusing assignments. Can work at your own pace. Quick weekly assignments, one project due by the end of the semester, no final. You can finish this class early! :) Take this class if you need it!
Professor Tibbetts was very helpful by providing recorded lectures for the required projects. He had a constant presence and always offered zoom meeting hours, even on the weekends! This was a manageable to meet the general education requirement. I highly recommend this class!
This is a class on Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access. The training teaches you how to do different tasks, which can get pretty complicated when it comes to excel formulas, but there's no reason why you shouldn't get an A in the class if you do the trainings and watch the Zooms he records. Each week there is training, an exam and a project.
This class is extremely easy if you put the work in - I finished the class in 4 weeks. He is very knowledgeable about Excel & Access if you have any questions. He also posts recorded lectures about the harder projects and the final project where you can follow along. The online textbook is Cengage so it is necessary.
Professor Tibbetts was a great professor. If you put the work in you will do well. I finished my ACO 100 class three weeks before the final due date. He responds quickly and helps you if needed.
The class is very easy to complete as it is completely online. Michael is easy to talk to if you have questions and knows a lot about what he teaches. He is more than willing to help if you need it and overall was a very easy class to complete. There are weekly assignments for the class, but it isn't bad.
Had some troubles in the beginning, but they were resolved. When I had a problem, he would take some to respond, but he would be helpful and would invite me to zoom meetings during office hours. Wouldn't take again, but overall, not bad.
The entire class was based on ALEKS, which is a self-paced website. When you talked to him, he was helpful though. 100% recommend this professor for MAT 117. Very helpful and respectful. Will try to help you whenever you're having difficulty with math, which in my case math has never been my best subject!
Professor Tibbetts posted lectures when necessary of how to do projects if students were struggling and had discussion boards open for each module we were working on so we could post our questions. He also had office hours and did his best to help everyone do well. I would take his class again if needed and do recommend it to others.
I thought the class itself was somewhat boring and not really useful for my major, but I thought Mr. Tibbetts was nice. He always went over assignments in class and answered any questions. He was quick to respond to emails and helpful when needed.
Great, easy class. He opened all assignments toward the end of the semester in case you missed anything, and gave extra credit. All projects had video tutorials, and he would basically show you the whole thing if you asked in class!
EASY CLASS, fulfills CS requirement! Completed 2 weeks early with an A+. TB is REQUIRED for module training, exams, and projects for Excel and Access. Final = Data Transformation Project is simple PLUS Tibbetts offers ZOOM recordings on Canvas (he does most of the project for you, so just follow along). 16% of grade = DTP. Pace yourself!
Very straightforward instruction. He is responsive and it's easy to keep up with the pace of the class. All lessons were in a "follow-along" format with hands-on practice during each lesson. Knowledge was retained and I felt like it was a successful and useful course.
Class was super easy and is designed to finish early in the semester. No final exam, just a final project. He goes over every project step by step (including the final) to ensure you get a 100%. You do have to buy the program for this class which was over $100. You don't have to work on this class for homework and still finish early!

Professor Tibbetts is a very nice guy. He has decent lectures but supplements them by answering any questions students have. He really wants everyone to succeed. The class and grading are also quite easy.
This class is the best class I have taken online so far. I learned so much about Microsoft Access and Excel that I didn't know before. There is no final exam, only a final project. All of the course material can be completed as fast as you like. It only took me about two weeks.
Professor Tibbetts was very funny and would start each class with a story. Attendance isn't mandatory to do well in his class. I never showed up and I finished mostly all the material in the first month. If you need help with a project, simply show up to class and he works it out himself and you follow along as he goes. He's super lenient and nice.
81% of grade weighted on easy assignments, final project 16%. Most assignments have videos he made showing you how to do each step. I didn't need to contact him through the semester bc course work was so manageable/easy. Finished class in 5 weeks, could've finished sooner. take this class, it's so easy, you learn a lot, and he's so nice!
The class was super easy and Professor Tibbetts was super nice! The textbook is around $100 but it gives you access the program you'll use throughout the class. He is really active on discussion boards and emails, he'll even create zoom meetings or pre-recorded videos if you need help. Can't recommend him enough!
Waiting on my final to be graded, but have a 99.18 as of rn. Overall easy class, he literally teaches you what to do step by step. All the work can really be done in 5 weeks.
easy class, you don't have to go to class in order to understand the course
Professor provides lots of material to help with assignments. He is also very responsive when students have issues with homework. I would take his class again.
Absolutely asinine class. The instructions are unclear and the teacher does not know how to use a Macbook so if you need help, oh well! You're on your own. You better know Excel before taking this class. I could not for the life of me figure out what the instructions were trying to say and had to resort to using YouTube professors to teach me.
The material was easy to understand and the professor held zoom meetings to go over the material and assignments. He was always accessible outside of class and he was always very friendly. Would recommend taking this professor and the classwork is easy to where you can finish a week or two early! Final project was easy with step by step directions.
He is such a sweetheart. Class was easy though the material is dry. Final project was easy and fun. For the more difficult modules Prof Tibbets would record Zoom lectures and do the projects step by step. I learned a lot (that I may never use) about Excel and Access. I'm glad I took this course for the GE it satisfied.
Prof. Tibbetts is such a sweet man! He is always open for 1 on 1 meetings to explain the material while he shares his screen to walk you through the material. The class is assignment heavy, but it's mainly just the practice lessons for excel that take awhile. Other than that the class was easy to follow and pass. I would highly recommend his class!
Learning all about Excel starting from the basics through Cengage/SAM program. You follow a guided progression. It's not hard but it does require a lot of time investment. Overall easy A opportunity.
He is so understanding and willing to help at any point. If you are having issues in this class he is easy to approach about them. This class is pretty much self paced, but he goes over the topics he sees everyone is struggling with in front of the whole class. He also helps during exams too, he is incredibly flexible. Live love Tibby.
All of the assignments are done through Cengage, I didn't interact with the professor at all. The class itself is super easy though and multiple attempts are given on every single assignment.
The class wasn't too bad, just has a bit of self teaching involved but if you make sure to study your homework and do the study guides, I think this class would be okay to deal with. I didn't read the pearson textbook but there are examples and videos that are really useful. Math can be hard but this professor was alright in explaining things.
Very kind and caring professor. Class uses ALEKS so you go at your own pace, he's very chill about attendance as long as you get the topics done. He also had multiple student instructors and himself available to ask questions about problems and he was great at explaining how to solve problems. He also tells alot of stories that are fun to listen to
Very easy class, all online basically but came to class because he did the projects in class, even the final one! The assignments are identical to the exams so if you can, have the assignment out while you're doing it so limit the attempts! Really nice guy and nice class.
After the first few weeks, I never showed up to class again and still got an A. All the material is online and the website tells you what to do. Paid for a textbook and never opened it. He always walks around campus; can't escape this man. He knows I never showed up, I think.
This class relies heavily on an online platform, so you very rarely interact with the professor. He is kind and somewhat helpful if you reach out, but all of it is pretty easy to do on your own. He would spend most of the class time talking through the assignments, but he went over them very slowly, and I quickly lost interest.
I like that it's self-paced, but he really doesn't lecture at all. My SIs were useless as well. It was really frustrating when I'd ask him for help, but he didn't actually give it. I basically taught myself everything, and it was all just a recap from high school algebra. I was very frustrated by his lack of teaching effort.
Really easy class, if you are good learning math on your own. He is really nice and will help you out if you need it. One of the easiest class I ever took.
He's so nice and easy to talk to if you are having a hard time. Very easy class everything is online and he goes over everything during class so you can follow along.
I don't know about his other classes but ACO 100 was very easy. If this class fulfills any of your general studies requirements, please take it. It's an easy A+. Everything is online and the website tells you what to do. Attendance is not required. A lot people showed up on the first day of school but after that, barely anybody was in class.
As a professor, he didn't do much. This class revolved around ALEKS online, and in class, he would just talk about his life or repeat the same information about the topic goals of the week. He would teach sometimes in class; however, it wasn't helpful. Just do ALEKS, and you're good.
