He explains his lectures very clearly. He goes at a slow pace so students can understand the material. He is very helpful and answers many questions. His well prepares his students for the midterms and final.
"Coash T" is a very helpful teacher and really wants his students to succeed. He sets up a classroom for his "office hours" to allow you to do your homework, and as questions there. ALthough there is a lot of hw to be done (At least 9 pages per week) but it pays off in the long run because it helps on the midterms. He is one of the best teachers i've had EVER
Coach T really wants you to get As but also requires you to learn and does whatever he can. Homework was heavy but not up to him. Great teacher.
Coach T, was a good teacher. He kept moving due dates around for quizes and homework, this made it very difficult to stay on top of the homework and/or readings. Overall I enjoyed the class, he's a good teacher I learned a lot from him that I think will be useful.
The guy is awesome. Enough said.
Easily one of my most favorit prof's in thre years at oregon.
I loved this professor, he was so entertaining, and he really wanted all of his students to succeed
Coach T is the best, he makes accounting so easy for anyone to learn. He made me want to be an accountant, i would recommend all business majors to take accounting with coach T.
too hard
He lied on many occaisons and was never available to help. He told the class over and over that he was not going to have a curve - but since well over 80% of the class wouldn't have gotten a C- or better he was forced to. I had a B+ in the class and should have gotten an A-... but he wouldn't let me make something up that he said he would let me.
He is discriminate against to students who can't understand his teaching. He never curves.
He is a great prof. He will slow down and keep going over something until you get it. He is very easy to talk to and will learn your name and I incurage everyone to go to his office hours even if it is to shoot the breeze. Also he makes you do the HW but it is all good in the long run when it comes to what you know on the tests.
The class is very hard b/c of the ambiguity of his exams. He stresses critical thinking instead of memorization on midterms. HW is way too much for time given. He tries to help as much as he can. Always available for help it seems.
One of the worst teachers I have ever had
Coach T is a fabulous teacher. He is always willing to help and does everything he can to get you to learn. No doubt about it, the material is hard. Complaints are from the lazy crybabies who want a grade and are not willing to work for it. Ignore them, he's great!
Some like his style, some don't. I'm in the latter category. He doesn't give partial credit - if you don't get the whole question right, you get no points - not good if a question is worth a lot of pts. Homework takes up way too much time, & he doesn't cover enough problems in class. Appears to favor some students in the class - just my opinion.
It's a hard class, no doubt about it. But if you attend the lectures and spend some time on the homework and STUDY! for tests it's no problem. There's people who sit in the back of the room and socialize then complain when they do bad on tests...definitely not a class to take if you plan on screwing around and not studying.
Do not take a class with him. On the first day Coach T seems like a fun guy. However, after the first midterm, he seems to passes judgment about his students. I did about average and he went from really helpful to someone who really just didn't care. When it came time to the project, either he helps you (he likes you) or he doesn't (he doesn't)
Horrible experience. Unfortunately to get into the business school or get a minor, students are REQUIRED to take this course. I had a tutor, did all the hw, went to office hours, did all of the readings. I had all outlets to do well in this class, in exception to the prof. Cares up til the first midterm, then lacks after picking favorite students.
EXCELLENT INSTRUCTOR! I have no idea what the last two are talking about. Coach T is one of the most helpful and outgoing profs I have ever had. He even gives us his cell number! How can there be favorites? The department writes the exams. I admit I have struggled and the work is hard, but I would not be this far without Coach T.
I have taken several of Coach T's classes. He is a great teacher, just challenging. He explains in ways that people will understand but does require a lot of work. If you want to take a class with a teacher that is passionate about the subject and willing to help, don't hesitate-just be prepared to put in the work for a good grade.
He's the absolute worst accounting professor at UO. I'd go to ANYONE ahead of him. Please don't make the mistake that I made, choose a good professor! I got a D for the first time EVER as a student at any school in his class.
First off, this class requires work no matter which teacher you take it with. Tomcal is so helpful and understanding. If you go to his office hours he will sit and talk with you and help you with any little question you have. He appreciates people who go over the top to do well, but no favorites. If you work hard, you'll do well.
His tests are hard, but if you study hard, do the reading, and do the practice problems, you will do well in the class.
Only class I've ever dropped. Wasn't available during office hours, and awards NO partial credit, which is absolutely ridiculous. Expects way too much of students
SUCH A HARD CLASS! One of my favorite professors and he makes accounting easy and fun to learn but the tests are impossible. He doesn't play favorites and he loves people who work hard with no excuses. Unfortunately, he's probably the hardest accounting teacher so don't expect an A.
Very clear, knows what he talks about. However, he teaching style is very bad. Makes the class hader than it is. I would not recommend him.
this class is a weeding out class. I understood the concepts and read the book along with his lectures which were very informative, but the tests are IMPOSSIBLE at this university because they want to clean out pre biz majors. smartest thing to do is take this class online or at lane.
I really enjoyed my actg 340 class. Professor Tomcal has a great sense of humor and does a really great job of explaining things and being around to help if you need it. Don't be afraid to ask for help. The tests are hard but if you do the homework and practice problems you'll be fine!
A lot of homework, and he graded your homework only according to their looking. I expected more feedback on this course, but, still, my printed homework is graded higher though I spent same time on my handwriting ones.
Very outgoing so paying attention in class is very easy. This is the second time I have taken this class and I am doing much better with his help. He is very helpful during office hours if you are able to go. This class is very difficult no matter who you take it with so putting in the work is more than necessary.
Well, you can learn a lot from Coach T's class but definitely won't get a good grade. His tests are amazingly hard. After second midterm he will e-mail students below C level and suggest them to drop the class, which is kind of mean. Anyway, Federal Taxation will be the my last class of Coach T.
He's a nice guy but I had to drop his class. The midterms are department wide but he could have done a better job preparing the class for the type of questions the midterms had. The online homework was nothing like the midterms, so it's hard to prepare. I wouldn't recommend taking a class from him.
you have to prepare study the class by yourself not from him. Because he don't know what his teaching and talking about. He only teach one problem for a 2 hours class and eventually give a wrong answer. It is fine if he cant not teaching very well but it is about the attitude for being a teacher that not preparing for classes at all.
All my friends and myself are struggling in his class, because it was super pointless and not helpful at all. I dont understand why he had such good average score on this website. One day he was late for the class, not mention that he did not say sorry to the class but he spend more time to go back to his office for changing cloth. REDICULOUS.
Even I got an A in this class but it is all by myself and nothing to do with this useless teacher. I think he is not ready to be a teacher that PPT just some big charts that directly skanned from book. I think he has no interests at teaching but the salaries. He is boring and only solve one problem during 2 hours class and get wrong answers.
He is absolutely the worst professor in the university.
He doesn't care much about the students, although he does pick favorites. The homeworks are long and tedious. There is no way to know if you are doing it correctly until he posts answers. He posts answers at random hours of the night before an 8 am class to make sure that no one will copy it all, so everyone is up all night.
Don't take his class!
This is the worst teacher I have ever had. Time intensive homework. You don't know what to expect on the exams and there is no reviewing after. The exams are extremely difficult. Wastes time and doesn't work many problems. I'm not sure, but I don't think he has actually ever worked in the the Accounting field. Avoid his classes at all costs!
This guy is awesome, do not listen to the potato heads on here giving him poor reviews, you obviously didn't put much into it! Tomcal's first tip is to get a tall cup of coffee like he does in the morning before his class (which is why he's always amped up lmao), and his second tip is to USE EXCEL for the homework! It's way easier! 10/10 guy
Anyone who thinks this teacher is awesome obviously loves accounting and/or is an accounting major. For those of us just trying to get into business school do not take this class with him. His teaching is nothing like the tests (in fact he doesn't even look at the tests) and our last Midterm 2 class avg was a 65% which he said was our fault.
When it comes to his teaching he's always open to answer Qs and clarify with examples in class. Yes, he assigns a ton of HW, but with all the practice its a great test study resource. DO YOUR HW ON EXCEL. Accounting is very cut and dry, and the expectations of what you should know are very clear. If you didn't know something on the test, thats on u
I would recommend Tomcal only if you already know the material. While he is genuinely kind, he enjoys tangents and expects students to already have knowledge of the material before class. If you are the type of student who reads and understands a chapter BEFORE you learn it in class, you may do well, but if you need a TEACHER, I'd keep looking.
One of the BEST profs I've had here and that's coming from a typically lazy student. Accounting is extremely hard regardless of who you take it with so don't be scared off by the people saying the workload is over-the-top. It's doable if you ACTUALLY care about getting into the business school. The homework load prepared me for tests beyond well.
He teaches as if it is his way or you are doing it wrong. Ridiculous amount of homework, and completely inconsiderate.
Tomcal makes it very difficult to ask questions and further your understanding. most students questions are followed by a sarcastic remark or a put down. He takes lectures straight from the online book and just reads them, providing no additional insight. completely unnecessary amount of homework and put things on the test that haven't gone over.
Tomcal was super engaging in lectures for the most part. Lots of practice problems in class that he walks you through which is SUPER helpful when studying for exams. On the final there was one concept that no one knew because he didn't teach it to us which sucked. But other than that I learned a lot.
One of the most hilariously eccentric professors I have had so far at the University of Oregon. He is a really great teacher though who really gets his points across well in lecture and the in-class examples you do really help teach the concept. The tests aren't too bad if you did all the homework and really understood it.
Eccentric and lovely teacher. Some very funny moments in class. He cares about his students and wants you to learn. I can't blame him for the horrible accounting curriculum imposed by the school. You'll have a terrible time coursework-wise no matter which teacher you take-- this is from someone who's had to retake these classes several times.
95 online questions due each class, and they are hard. Makes you do one set of homework online and write out the questions and answers (these are not short questions or answers). Then you do one more online assignment that takes a while and there is no way of knowing if you did it right. EACH WEEK. Not flexible on anything at all. HW takes HOURS
He does not take into respect others have lives as he assigns AT LEAST 2.5 hours of homework EVERY NIGHT OR MORE. He does not accept any tardiness for homework or class attendance. He also has no respect for fellow staff members as he called one stupid and scolded them because a door was mistakenly not unlocked in the morning for an 8am class.
Tomcal is quite a character. His lectures sometimes go off on tangents but he makes the topic interesting in what could otherwise be a dreadfully boring class. There is a lot of HW in his 211 class but with the material being covered its important to practice a lot and he recognizes that.
Be ready to listen to a lot of stories during the lectures. You will mostly learn from your own study time.
Accounting is a hard class with whoever you take, but I honestly think Tomcal is the best teacher to take it with. His lectures are easy to understand and he is very clear on what he expects from you. He definitely likes to tell stories in lecture haha but I recommend taking 211 with him. If you stay on top of things, you'll be fine!
Accounting 211 will be tough no matter who you take it with, Coach T is definitely a solid choice. You can tell he really cares about his students and knows what he is talking about when it comes to accounting/finance. Lots of homework, but if you actually put the time in to do it, it will make the midterms way easier.
Professor Tomcal wastes class time by being unorganized and talking off topic often. He teaches broad basics and then assigns more advanced homework that he doesnt review yet makes lecture attendance mandatory. He is inconsistent in time expectations on homework and exams making this class unnecessarily difficult. Little respect for students!
Lots of homework, but in the end it is super helpful. I've learned so much from his classes.
I learned a lot in Accounting 213. Coach T's lectures are sometimes a bit off-topic or boring, because he often just does problems on the projector. However, he does give lots of homework which in the long run really helps you understand the material and be ready for tests. His tests were very challenging but there is a nice curve in his class.
So. Much. Homework. The main problem is that we have to do the hw before the lecture covers most of it, and we can't even see if we're getting things wrong or right when we do it. Tests are way longer than they need to be, you'll end up guessing because the 2 hrs isn't enough time to finish it. Goes off topic and doesn't give adequate info for hw.
Tomcal has a good expectation for students, his class is challenging but not ridiculous. He is enthusiastic and knowledgable, but unfortunately I felt that I was just copying information in class and barely learning material. Instead, our homework service (McGraw Hill) taught me most of the class. I only studied off that website and passed fine.
He likes to drone on about his personal life and tells stories that are irrelevant to the class. There are usually 40 slides in his PowerPoint but he would only go through like a third and leave the rest up for the GEs to go through in labs. If you give him fair warning that you are attending a mandatory family event, it is unexcused. Dont take
Attempts to be a stand-up comedian instead of a teacher
Tomcal is not good. all of the homework is due before the lectures and you will not know what you are doing without reading the book.
He makes this class more difficult than it needs to be. He'll spend nearly half the class talking about himself and attempting to make jokes but then skip over a good portion of the material. You end up teaching most of it to yourself. The amount of homework is also really unnecessary. If you keep up with hw and study for exams you should be fine.
Worst unorganized most terrible professor at the school. He keeps talking about himself most of the class, advertising his stupid water bottle. His stories are not even related to the lectures. 4-5 hours of HW every night, instead of Excel you will hand write it every night before his class. He never go through the Hw, always late, selfish, dontTk
Dont take a class with him, he is always late and doesnt prepare his material right. Each class he will waste a whole hour talking about himself. Calls everyday stupid , he give bunch of homeworks without teaching you the lecture which is related to it. Hw has things that he never reviewed. Exams are the worst, time is never enough, doesn't care
Worst accountants ever, boring lectures, Thinks hes a comedian, lots of hand writing homework's, get ready to write down personal statement in an empty paper, tests beyond heavy, talks about himself for almost an hour, unorganized, doesnt make sense, 40 slides he only talks about 13 of them, if he forgot some of the jokes he planned to talk about
The worst prof I have ever had, rarely teaches anything and will test over subjects he has never even mentioned. He says we have to be "business professional" but he shows up 5-10 minutes late every lecture, and will sometimes not respond to direct emails for multiple days at a time.
COVID-19 caused our class to move online. Tomcal was IN NO WAY flexible with anything! He is trying with this new platform, but he has made no adjustments. He is not lenient and I can assume that stretches to his in person courses as well. Avoid his course if you can. His teaching style is arrogant, unhelpful and full of tangents.
Very unorganized and is not willing to compromise on ANYTHING! Schedules homework due at the same time quizzes are given. Rambles in class about his personal life, he's so slow and gets distracted so easily you'd learn better from a online program than from him. Says things like "This is easy you guys just don't wanna do the work". Worst prof.
Dont take this class. He will not review midterms cause of online learning
I did not learn anything from this class and relied heavily on the GE's support from hw problems. He is not flexible either with the structure of his class.
Would not take. He would not review tests cause of online and there was no tutoring offered outside office hours.
His lectures are easy to understand, but always don't have enough time to finish all the slides. He was always going through the in-class worksheet step by step. The tests are challenging, need more effort after class. He gave extra credit which is kind. He is an excellent professor but could be better.
Annoying to listen to, conviluded testing system, and overall very bad teacher to take. Wish there was another teacher for the same subject.
The amount of homework assigned was mind boggling, and we were required to hand write it all instead of using an online format which would have made it so much easier. Expect to be writing down tables of numbers for over 8 hours for each of the later homework assignments. Also got very sidetracked during lectures and tried to be funny.
Coach T was one of my favorite professors this term. Having to attend this class live on zoom made it easier and more engaging rather than watching video lectures. Homework was fairly easy and not too time consuming. Quizzes and exams are proctored, and yes even 20 minute quizzes, which was a little annoying but I understand why.
Very annoying and difficult to understand.
Coach T is phenomenal. Would play Frank Sinatra before every class. He is very flexible, considerate, and always works with you to make sure you understand the content.
This guy seriously annoys me. His lectures are not engaging at all and, as mentioned by others on here, he spends a lot of time rambling about himself. This guy in my class asked if there was a study guide for the midterm and he basically told him he "sounds like a freshman" and that he doesn't give study guides. Not accommodating for COVID at all
I believe this is the worst teacher at UO. I have never had a worse class experience, especially online. He assigns 4+ hours of homework each week that is about 85% stuff NOT covered in class. Class time is spent by him rambling on about random stuff and going on tangents all the time. He is also very unhelpful when it comes to COVID accommodation.
Coach T is not very flexible. He doesn't really give any flexibility for anything being late, TURN YOUR STUFF IN ON TIME! If it's even a literal minute late he will not take it. His lectures are long-winded so be prepared to lose focus. If you struggle with accounting, be careful of his class. If you have the option to take someone else, do it.
I wouldn't take this class with Coach T if you aren't an Accounting student. He works students very hard. Huge(!) amounts of homework, and the final paper (yes, final paper in an accounting class) was a goliath of an assignment that was much much harder than a test would've been.
Tomcal is a cool guy in general but his online format is terrible. Extremely proctored exams that are just basically an invasion of privacy. No practice exam or study guides whatsoever. Overall a terrible class and unhelpful professor. AVOID
Lectures are designed to seem like they matter, but attending left me more confused and stressed. When I stopped attending lectures and learned on my own from his PowerPoint slides and the homework assignments, I performed better. Participation nor attendance are graded, although he sneakily tries to say they do. Uses proctorio! Privacy Violation.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. I have been in two of his classes and they have both been the worst experiences in my entire academic career. Tomcal will speak over you when asking questions and will talk down to you. Does not provide any practice exams or study guides. All assignments are hand written. Uses lecture time to brag about himself.
I would strongly recommend not taking accounting with Prof. Tomcal. I tried to attend every lecture but spent 98% of the time confused and lost. He moves very fast and gets side tracked very easily. I found myself trying to teach myself most of the class. Tests are proctored and he "doesn't believe" in study guides even for an online course.
Took accounting 213 over the summer. Prof. Tomcal worked very hard to create an engaging environment even with everything being online. The tests were not proctored (not sure why every other comment says he proctors very heavily, maybe a change in curriculum). Overall I had a good experience in this class and with this professor and learned a lot.
One of the funniest professors I've ever had, made me smile every class and would always play Frank Sinatra. That being said, I think I thought myself this course. After attending lectures I would often find myself confused so I started not going and doing better. Not an awful professor but definitely take this class with someone you know.
I am currently enrolled in Professor Tomcal's course. Don't bother going to lecture because he just confuses you more - doesn't explain any of the steps to come to the answer, doesn't provide any study materials, gets sidetracked easily, doesn't put in any time or effort to help his students succeed. Be prepared to fully teach yourself this course!
Professor Tomcal might be one of the worst prof. I have ever had teach me in my schooling career. His lectures are extremely confusing and he spends the entire time working on worksheets which don't relate to the material we just learned. He doesn't believe in study guides for any of the tests or quizzes. Have fun teaching yourself. Terrible class
Would highly advise anyone to not take a class with prof Tomcal. His lectures have absolutely nothing to do with hw/tests and are very boring. Good luck teaching yourself accounting if you end up in his class.
Be prepared to teach yourself the entire course.
Tests are what matter most for your grade. As long as you get above a C on each one you should be fine as long as you do the homework. Overall I felt like this class was lengthy, boring, and he rambled a bit off-topic too much. Also if you're working online he will forget to turn on the camera again after taking a break.
Could not have been a worst lecturer. He did nothing to prepare students for tests or quizzes, and repeatedly talked about the most irrelevant things. Most all nighters I've had to endure in my entire schooling career. #BenchCoach T
Difficult class and will NOT help you if you ask for help or other resources. Office hours not helpful, class material not helpful, had to resort to every resource except what was given to me.
very unhelpful and does not give ANY resources. attendance is not mandatory, but if you miss one class you will be behind and he won't help you catch up at all. doesn't give any study guides or practice midterm/final. 1 homework assignment will take you the whole day or even more. he is a kind and sweet, but unhelpful and I wouldn't recommend tbh
This is the first terrible professor I've had at UO. I am a freshman taking his summer class and I can't begin to describe his incompetency. The lectures provide very vague and little detail for us to understand and complete the homework. Most, if not all of what I've learnt has been from youtube and chatgpt. I have a 3.9 gpa and this guy sucks.
You are learning everything on your own. "Coach" T gets side tracked and he is just reading the lecture slides. The homeworks/readings are long and take up most of your day. The material is hard, but he doessn't help you in understanding it. My other class grades suffered because he makes this class your only class.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. This class is the hardest class I have taken at UO. Bad at teaching hard accounting topics. I tried to use my tutoring resources to understand the material but I could not get one because of how many people were scheduling tutoring appointments for this class. It is impossible to learn in this way.
Awful. The midterms are generally on 3 chapters from the textbook. I have gotten a good grade in the other ACTG courses without reading the textbook. You 100% need to read to pass in Coach T's class. He reads the slides in class without doing practice problems, then expects you to perform on the HW and tests. For your mental health, stay away.
truly one of the most inadequate professors this university has to offer, comes in twice a week and stands in the front of the class and either reads off the slides verbatim or goes on long completely unrelated tangents. Never goes over any practice problems. Refuses to listen to students needs in the class. you will need to chegg to do homeworks
Asked "Coach T" if there would be any study guides and he laughed out loud. You will NEED Chegg to do the homework (and even then its impossible).Hmwk has nothing to do with what we do in class. All tests are scantrons. If it wasn't required I wouldn't take it. Its passable but so hard, and the classes feel endless and long. Beware.
Do not take him.
He is a nice guy and I can tell he means well but he just does not know how to connect with students. His teaching methods are terrible for those who struggle with cookie-cutter type lectures. For a 1 hour 50 minute class he spent the majority just rambling on about the chapter problems barely explaining anything in detail.
This professor is completely subpar. Going into the final there is no study guide and multiple classmates I have asked can't even give me the specific chapters in which the test is on. The lectures are long and redundant and have nothing to do with the homework, which both Chegg and tutors won't be able to decipher. DO NOT TAKE
Doesn't communicate enough with students, lectures are a waste of time. He was very sassy when you would ask him questions. Take this class at a community college or something just don't take his class.
Tomcal was fine but the class itself is just so hard. Homework is impossible and takes all day especially if you've never taken an accounting class before. I can't say I learned much in this class and it just made me stress out. Ended up changing to P/NP after failing the second midterm! Good luck try to take online maybe...
Least understanding man I've ever met, would not meet with students outside the once a week drop in office hour, regardless of immovable work shifts, sicknesses, or emergency. Does not offer any flexibility for outside circumstances. course content is relatively simple, recommend getting a tutor or outside help. Instruction is lackluster and poor.
The guy is honestly sweet and doesn't mean any harm. Accounting is just in general a very tough course and taking it online does not make it any easier. I know if I watched the lectures more and actually tried on the homework I would have done better.
The teacher himself is nice but I really wish he would have curved the class. I know for a fact the class probably needed a curve since it was very difficult. At the very least he could have dropped our lowest assignment or something of that sort. I almost always get As with a few Bs but this was my first C ever in my academic career/
You're learning out of McGraw Hill Connect fully. His lectures just provide a small amount of supporting material and his instruction is completely unnecessary. I'm honestly just annoyed I'm paying his salary as the tests, homework, and readings are all done automatically through the online textbook. Easy enough if you do the readings but bad prof.
I took Professor Tomcal's online course over the summer. The class is designed for 8 total weeks, expect 15-20 min of lecture slide content and 1-2 hours of lectured practice problems a week. Homework is the same as 211 but you are only given 5 check my works per problem and questions are noticeably harder and more complex. He isn't as bad as it s
This class had so much out of class work and was unyielding to possible life situations interrupting workflow. Exams weren't horrible but the workload was unnecessary and overall class structure was dense with little purpose.
he consistently blocked certain uses of late passes for late assignments. Students are given two per term to turn in an assignment late up to one week from the due date, but he has denied both times I have attempted to use them. He gave me rude remarks about my work and understanding of the material when visiting office hours. He needs to retire.
really bad at explanations and does not really even answer questions period.
I actually really liked coach T, but I can definitely see how this class would be tough to someone less invested. Somewhere from 2 to 3 hours of very boring homework per week was the worst part of this class, but I thought the lectures were easygoing and he was pretty funny. Going to lecture made this class pretty easy.
“Coach T” is a very caring guy. His lectures are mostly just reading of the slides but he adds little comments that make it more enjoyable. The class has an insane amount of homework and reading. If you do not read the textbook and go to class, you will struggle. The tests are tricky and it's a hard class but coach T is very helpful for students.
This class is incredibly easy. If you do the bare minimum, simply turning in assignments and showing up, you should pass. The exams are cake. The final took me 40 minutes, midterms ~30. Coach T is a great guy, I, unfortunately, just didn't find the material interesting. Would recommend
His voice is intolerable. He is very strict. Also a difficult class.
Tomcal's class is pretty tough. Homework takes forever, and tests are challenging without a proper study guide. Unstuckstudy and other resources like ChatGPT helped me prep, but attending is a must. Overall, a real grind, but manageable with the right approach.
If you try to do these homeworks without just using Chegg it will take an insane amount of time. Stay away if you possibly can.
Not the nicest person and his lectures are very hard to learn in.
Tomcal is by far the worst professor I have had at UO. His voice is annoying, his lectures are full of work along packets that are pointless, and his tests are unnecessarily complicated. During the first midterm he talked with the GE's during the entire last half of the test, which was incredibly distracting. 0/10
Coach T is tough. He provides no material outside of lecture making it extremely difficult to study for exam. Exam material seems completely diff from what we learn. If you need help he demands you come to office hours, yet is office it's disgusting and messy. I cannot work in that environment. It mirrors the way he lectures as well - pure chaos.
Coach T, I would email him regarding questions before exams, and he would never get back to me. often responding DAYS after the exam. Lectures make no sense due to long tangents. He provides no extra help (WHICH IS SO IMPORTANT FOR ACCOUNTING), genuinely, I don't even know if he wants his students to succeed. Nice guy -horrible professor.
Not good. Tomcal is tough. He uses slides and content that look like they were made in 2010, he seriously needs to reevaluate his material and teach differently, spending 30+ minutes on useless packets. His tests are incredibly hard. It says something when half the class is still there 5 minutes before the exam is over. No study guides, nothing
Coach T's class is hard but its not impossible. He can't fail everyone. He reads off the slides and doesn't provide any study guides or resources to prep for tests. Just get into Encore early and study hard for tests. You'll be teaching yourself a lot of the material, but it is doable.
Save yourself the hassle and avoid coach T at all costs. Tests are brutal and he provides no extra study materials. He is completely irriational and his teaching is not beneficial to your learning.
I would never take coach T again and no one should want to take him. Seems like a decent guy but my GE said he's never seen a teacher not want kids to do well and I couldn't agree more. He does nothing to get you prepared for tests and it's just chaos in lectures. Still can get an a if you work hard but just take a different teacher and avoid him.
Coach T does not want to see his students succeed. In all of my business classes up to this point, I have gotten an A- or better, and right now I am scraping for a C+. He only reads slides and has you copy pointless worksheets, and does not tell you which one he is doing before class. It was so bad I wanted to email the head of accounting. No curve
Loved Coach T! Attendance isn't mandatory, but if you show up, you'll understand what's going on. He works through problems in class which is super helpful. Very understanding. Enthusiastic in class!
I usually don't pay attention to rate my professor reviews, and I wish I did. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM HIM. He does not want to see people succeed in his class. Prior to this, I was getting A's and B's in my core business classes with ease. Also no curve. Even the GE I had said she had never heard of an intro accounting professor who won't curve.
screw this guy he needs to be fired. He messed up our final by not including a table that is required for us to obtain our answers.
He assigns a ton of readings and homework yet he doesn't provide practice problems in class. He also doesn't provide us with practice exams to prepare for the midterms and final. In class he just reads off of the slides and doesn't do a good job at helping us to understand the material beyond that. If you can avoid taking this class with him do so.
He is an awful lecturer, only provides McGraw-Hill hw and a couple of practice questions, with no answer key. He provides 0 study guide, 0 curve, and 0 help. I studied for hours and hours, never missed a lecture, did class-encore outside of class, had a tutor, and received a D. If I had a different professor, I think I could have passed the class.
Loved Coach T! Put the work in & you'll do great. Great guy & has a good sense of humor
The worst professor I've ever had. He actually made it impossible to get a good grade. He is so selfish and did a horrible job teaching this challenging class. No curve, most pointless lecture, no study guide. It's like he wants his students to fail. I have to retake it now
His office hours say it all—it's disgusting, papers everywhere, and you're balancing your laptop on stacks of loose sheets. It perfectly reflects how he teaches: disorganized, frustrating, and offering no real or tangible help. It's like he wants you to fail. He needs to retire and leave teaching to the good professors like Kyle Petterson
Overall he is horrible professor that does not want his students to succeed. There's no exam prep or help, no curve, no homework help, and his lectures do not prepare you at all. Even my encore teacher said that he doesn't give them anything to help us study. You also only get 5 check your answers on the homework which is not helpful at all.
Sadly, the worst professor I've ever had. No curve, no study guide, lectures are not helpful at all. He seems to get happy at any chance he can snap or be rude or evoke his power over students. I have never felt compelled to leave a review, I took this class last spring and still cant shake my experience. AVOID AT ALL COST
You walk into class, and you think you're fine; you think these reviews are an exaggeration. Suddenly, you are taking the first exam, and it is only vaguely what you studied. The homework has limited attempts and takes hours. Make friends who can help you and get into Encore. Drop your other classes. He will not curve the class
