He makes it seem like the class is extremly challenging. Dont believe him! The class was a piece of cake - He gave us Reviews for the Tests and they were the exact same. As long as you pay attention and review the study guide there is no way you can score under an A! Outstanding Teacher!

Flota is awesome! Funny lectures and hes is really nice. Humble & helpful whenever possible. His tests are hard though and you definitely cannot slack off and expect to pass, but if you like a challenging course and want to learn something he is your guy. The group work is pretty cool. Kind of reminds me of Robin Williams during lectures!

Study the study guides and you have an A. It is as easy as that. The group work and concepts are great. You vote on test percentages. He is very funny and enthusiastic about his work. Fun class!

Flota is the best. Hes not to hard for dbcc, you just have to put forth a little effort. The dude is funny and knows his stuff. Best prof I've had!

His way of teaching may come off as a little goofy but it works. The exams were a little difficult and his grading is bases on 3 exams and 1 final paper/project so do well on the exams. He knows his stuff and is always available to answer questions.

Very laid back in class and has great lectures. But don't think just because he is funny and laid back that his tests are easy. They are confusing and HARD!! Not an easy A. But if you study hard, it is definitely worth it.

Not sure of the section, was Sociology last summer on line. Great guy, very funny. Tests were hard as hell!!! I never made above an 84 and worked my ass off. However, I made up for it on the discussion and group activities. Made a high A despite the tests. Tests were just draining!!! He was great though and always communicated!! Good teacher.

Flota man is awesome. His tests are hard, but he gives you a chance to write an argument (if you want) as to why you believe it is one and not any of the others. If your argument is good he will give you half credit or even full credit even if you missed it. Helped me a lot! I loved him and would love to take another class.

Gives study guides but if you don't understand what he is asking on the study guides- he is available for extensive question answering. Hard tests, but if you study the study guide its easy. He is also hilarious in class and is very interesting to be in class with. Great Class, Great Teacher

Flota's class is VERY easy, no homework at all. class grade is based on 3 tests, 1 report, and the final exam. Attendance is not manditory but helps for sure! READ THE BOOK to do good on test!

Took his class online. Not much work. Just post discussions and take tests. Tests are lengthy and somewhat difficult but you have plenty of time to take them. I would recommend taking him if you need the class.

I never read the 10 Questions book and got A's on my tests. Listen to his lectures, takes notes and read his sociology reader and you'll do fine.

Awesome teacher. Took him online. He's really lenient. There were no "late" assignments. A lot of work, but doable. I did the entire course in the last week and a half of the semester and got an A. Some of the group activities were very interesting and thought-provoking. Definitely recommend to anyone that doesn't have a lot of time on their hands

Doc Flota is awesome! Easy A if you post to the discussions and you can make good grades on the quizzes if you read the answers out of the book while taking the quizzes. I took it online and it was by far my easiest class yet!

Dr. Flota is a good layed back teacher. I took his class online and it was pretty straight forward. Class Assignments were easy and all due by the end of the semester. His test were sorta hard but if you read his notes and read the book you would be okay.

Dr. Flota seems to be very well versed in the content and has a great, quirky sense of humor. I took his class online, however, and I feel he would be much better in a live-lecture environment than online. Give yourself a better chance in this class by taking it in a classroom setting.

I would recommend Dr. Flota. I took it online, did all the work & did pretty good on the tests ended with an A. Dr. F also writes reviews & things you will want to read weekly, because he really helps put it into context.He jokes, and has humorous inserts in his writing, its not a dry boring sermon. Do the review, understand it and you will fine.

Doc is amazing. Take him. You wont regret it. No papers or anything crazy. Three tests, and lots of online discussion. He has a great sense of humor and makes you think -- you will learn alot.

Flota is a huge bro. Incredibly clear in his teachings, uses great examples, and likes to relate the class to others. His tests are not bad, and even have jokes thrown in. Read the book, but cramming is possible with friends. I strongly recommend.

Flotas class was the best. You learn alot. He really makes you think like a socilogits. You have to read and keep up. Paper, three tests, some discussions online. Tests can be hard but doable if you study and keep up. Fantastic teacher! Funny!

Flota is nice & funny. Attendance is not mandatory, but you should show up. He starts some of this chapters by showing parts of documentaries and incorpoates them into his leture. You can make an A easily in this class. He cares more about the experience than the grading. I learned a lot in his class, but mostly because I cared to.

Dr. Flota is a very enthusiastic, and captured my attention immediately. I don't think I would have been so interested with a different teacher. His tests are not hard if you read and do the online work. His also gives a review twice before the test. He is passionate about Sociology and loves to share it, especially on the Intro level. Thumbs up!

Doc. Flota is funny. He has a way of bringing the topic down to earth.. However, Read your text book and study for the tests even preparing and studying for tests i only managed to get B's on them.. But the discussions and class participation is fun :) and he has great communication via email/ responding to questions

I took Dr. Flota for both Intro to Sociology and Social Problems & Deviance. He is, by far, the best professor I have ever had for a lecture class. He knows the material and is more than willing to help. He will accommodate any issue you have. I highly recommend him to any student with the option of taking him!

Funny and Interesting, loved the class

I really enjoyed Doc Flota's class. In fact, if I had it to do over again, I would have taken it in person. The "reader" (95 pages) is written in everyday "talk or slang" and is a breeze to get through. Plus, it really helps explain everything in a way that is easy to understand. The class isn't hard, but still study for the tests! He's hilarious!!

The one and only Flota man.May his legacy live on for years to come at the DSC campus. Flota's passionate about sociology and I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have spit this knowledge at me. Very entertaining and clarifies in detail any question you may have in class. I suggest this class to anyone if you want a good laugh and some knowledge

Scratch that last comment. I didn't read the rating system......Took intro to sociology with Flota. He is a great guy and tries to make class fun. Does a test review twice before exams. One research paper was done but graded ultra easy. I'd take him over some of the others in the department.

Excellent professor. As I read through comments I see people referring to the class as fun, and it is. But because he engages the class in conversation and Lo and behold...we get to fine tone our critical thinking skills. He is passionate about the subject and his passion is contagious. Don't take online, it doesn't do him or the subject justice.

He was a wonderful professor! Always made the class fun and exciting, actually wanted to go to class. He is very understanding and gives great examples, ones that you remember. Awesome teacher, 3 essays that are super easy, tests are not too bad as long as you're there for the reviews. Not bad but if you're looking for an easy elective with an easy A that you don't have to work for than this class isn't it.

Doc Flota is hilarious and likes to keep classes interesting. Read! Read! Read! Every bit of reading counts towards your success in this class but Doc's lectures helps a bunch. Great, interesting class, definitely take this.

Professor Flota was amazing. Attendance is optional (except for test days) but I went to every class. Sometimes the reviews aren't clear, so definitely read the reader, or get a study group together. It's a really fun, easy class. Also, don't stress about the essays. As long as you do them and meet the requirements, you'll get an A.

He actually wrote the test book so you can't misquote him! He is the head of the sociology department and very well-educated. He knows his stuff. I loved his corny jokes, they will lighten the mood (and the test; you'll understand when you take the tests). We had three test and three papers. Do the work, show up & pass! :D

I absolutely love Dr. Flota!!! He is such an amazing teacher. He does not take attendance but it's helpful to show up because you'll need the lectures to know what's on the test. I missed a lot of class but made sure to read the sociology reader online to make sure I knew what I needed to know for the tests. Ohand he's super funny so that's a plus

Great class, i learned a lot! Lots of reading but interesting and i plan on reading the whole book again at my own pace!! Less than 40 min to complete the exam so BE PREPARED with your sociology book & reader open! USE A HIGHLIGHTER! Clear curriculum and discussions are awesome just think outside the box! If you're walking into this class thinking it's going to be a breeze, you're wrong. Doc Flota's tests were no joke. Make sure to fill out the fundamental questions to review for your tests! Care about the quality of your weekly discussions and your reaction papers and you should do well. All in all, an interesting class and subject matter.

Class was only graded off three tests and two essays, but they're pretty easy if you show up to class and do your reading. Reading is key, I recommend getting the text book because he doesn't test solely from lectures. Class time is all lecture, but he's pretty cool and funny so it's easy to follow along and interesting. Good class for every major.

Expect to do a lot of reading for his online classes. If you do the reviews he gives the tests aren't too difficult. There are weekly discussions on fun topics that relate to what you're learning. He responds to emails in a timely manner. Great courses if you need the credit or find the topics interesting.

Professor Flota is the BEST< BEST

Overall this class was pretty easy. There was a quiz (25 questions and I just googled all the questions, and would get a B on most of them) and there were these discussions that were easy and I kind of BSed my way through them. There were also a couple essays that were 3 pages, but they were easy, mine made no sense and I did pretty well on them.

Great teacher and extremely helpful. Quizzes can be difficult, but looking at the study guide and marking the definitions should get you to pass. The index is also helpful, just stay concentrated and review a little before taking the quizzes.

I took syg2000 online accelerated and as long as you do the discussions on time, you get a 100. The tests every week are challenging and I got 84s on all of them with minimal studying. There are two four-page papers but they are super easy as long as you write the full four pages and submit them on time. Would take again.

I LOVED this class. As long as you do your discussions weekly you will pass. It was very opinion based and I found that it made me more interested in the course. The tests can be difficult but read your text and you will pass. I am taking him again in the summer!

This was my first time taking an Online class and Dr. Flota made it simple. He is funny and his class is easy to understand and navigate. This class is mainly graded on discussions which are actually very fun and interesting. You must read your textbook and watch the videos for exams and discussions.

Took his online class SYG 2000 excelled and it didn't seem like too much work. I never had a problem with the due dates for assignments and there's only 2 essays. He's not a hard grader.

This course is based on a textbook made by him. You have to read to be able to answer the exams. His work and exams are not hard as long as you read the chapters. I had a great experience in this class.

I took his class online and it was very easy. He's not a tough grader at all and the content is fairly easy to understand. The quizzes given are really just definitions and applying said definitions to every day life. We only had to write two essays where we took definitions from the textbook and applied it to our life.

Grading is very fair, he is understanding and kind. Only criticism is that some of the material in the course is problematic, not offensive or inappropriate but includes things like discussion of Eugenia Cooney and Jordan B. Peterson. If you're not interested in engaging with that kind of stuff, then I would suggest skipping gender and society.

His class was super interesting and engaging! The discussion posts are honestly fun to answer and the tests and papers are not difficult as long as you read the course materials. Would highly recommend if you want an interesting elective.

I took his Sociology class online in the summer & I enjoyed it a lot. Professor Flota has a great personality. You will pass this class easily if you do what is expected. I actually liked that the professor only lets students use the textbook to cite sources for the reaction papers you have to write.

This professor was awesome. He has a great personality and made the assignments interesting and fun. I took an accelerated course, which consisted of two reaction papers. It only took me a couple hours for each one and I earned a perfect score both times. He grades very fairly and provides valuable feedback.

Very simple class. There is 2 reaction papers that must be 3 pages, he does not give any info on the reaction papers and I had difficulty figuring out what to write. Overall his quizzes were very easy and the discussions were weird but also easy. Easy A.

Since I took this course online, I didn't interact much with Prof. Flota however he gives incredible feedback on all discussions which are always helpful. His feedback is very det.ailed and was always very encouraging. He is professional, but still has an amazing sense of humor

Professor Flota's sociology class was super easy to complete and his lectures are very straightforward and detailed. He clearly has a lot of knowledge on the subject and the only assignments you need to complete in the class is a bi-weekly discussion post and quizzes every so often for the modules. Highly recommend!

Very easy class however, I learned a lot from it! One of the best online classes I have taken. Doc Flota is very knowledgeable about Sociology, and the discussions really made you think hard. He provides many course materials that are very easy for students to understand, and he is very funny! Would take this class again if i could.

He was so funny. He made a class that can be so boring so much fun. Also a big thing was everything was opened. If you wanted to finish this class online in two weeks it is absolutely do able. He gives such good feedback and listens to others opinions regardless of what he thinks. I have never liked discussions but he made them so fun. 10/10.

Insanely easy class if you take him online. Probably the easiest class I took while getting my AA. He did his best to make it fun and engaging for the class even though it was online. I'd highly recommended him and this course if you're looking to add some easy credits to balance out other challenging courses in your schedule.
