If you've had one math teacher, you've had them all.
this class is easy i slept every day. i noticed that he is very discriptive and willing to answer any questions that anyone has.
If you need mth 160, take his class. He is very clear and helpful. He answer every single question. If you listen the lecture you can easly get a B+ and above.
great teacher, very helpful and easy to understand.

Lectures in a very clear, straightforward fashion. Gives detailed notes. (I personally think they're detailed enough to be published as a condensed calc III text book. His approach is often more understandable than that of the book we used.) The best math teacher I've had to date.
I was dreading taking this course, but once Prof Wagner began class I knew it would not be as horrible as I thought. Very clear and detailed, and more than willing to help do anything he can to make you understand anything better!
Excellent teacher, VERY clear and helpful. Writes neatly and everything taught is relevent and good. Probably the best math professor I've had. Took Calc II, Sats I, and Calc III with him.
I liked Wagners class, he made everything crystal clear.
Probably the best Math teacher I have ever had! Prof. Wagner makes lectures as clear as possible (even if in a difficult math class like calculus) and is always willing to help with any questions students have. Although his classes are challenging, you come away from them learning a lot.
Wagner makes things as clear as possible for calculus III. He writes fast; it's sometimes a struggle to keep up. Very helpful when asked questions; I don't think there's much about math he doesn't know. Exams are reasonable. I'd definitely recommend him.
He is a good teacher and makes assignments understandable. If you work, you'll pass with a A.
Dry at times, but he knows what he is talking about. Very fair grader, I would highly recommend his class.
Worst teacher. period.
zzzzzzzzzzzz, one of the most boring teachers I've ever had. Has no personality, shows no emotion, teaches the class past the alotted time, never lets people leave early, if you miss a test your screwed, but overall not awful, just *fell asleep*.
Very good teacher.
great teacher, really explains everything well, and is really helpful in his office hours
Although classes just started, I like this guy. He totally sounds like Kermit the Frog and uses colored chalk, which I found pretty funny, but he is very clear and knows what he is talking about. Listening without giggling is a task, but if you have to take statistics, take it with him.
He is a really good professor. He explains very clearly. It is easy to get A.
Great Teacher. If you want to learn mathematics, Mike Wagner is for you!!!!
One of the best math professors I've had. I took Calc III with him and he taught it very well. The only negative thing I have to say about him is he's extremely awkward and has no personality whatsoever. He never shoots the breeze or talks about his weekend or anything along those lines.
Great teacher but class can get a little boring. Sounds exactly like Kermit the frog but will help you if you ask for it.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGNER. I love you man.
he was a really good teacher and i got a good grade in his class. He gave you an outline of what was going to be on the test and it was very helpful. Class can get EXTREMELY boring.
he is really excited about math and loves what he does very eager to help anyone with a question he does sound like kermit but made stats so i really could understand it.. also a plus homework wasnt mandatory to do he gave it out for practice if you wanted to do it =] hes awesome
Prof. Wagner is an excellent teacher! He makes statistics extremely clear, and you can tell he's very passionate about math. If you have an opportunity, take one of his classes!!
I took his class my first semester and hate math altogether. His class could get boring sometimes but he was a really good teacher. If you like math you will love him and the class. Tests are fair
Great math teacher, his classes are somewhat boring though (he teaches up to the time to leave) but ive never understood math better then i do after taking his class and also references what is going to be needed in classes later. Great Teacher!
wagner is very good; chalkboard notes, fair tests (you really have to study in calc 2) especially integration the ONLY thing I would say I would've liked him to do was let us work on the example he writes and then go over it to see if we did it right (I think that's a really effective teaching method at least for me) like Abbott did. A+ teacher tho
Good Teacher. Down to Earth, Kinda "silly" sometimes but very thurough. Notes are very organized and he gives you an example of everything he expects you to know. Very lenient with extra credit. Overall good experience.
Fantastic Professor. He teaches the material clearly and gives examples that help you understand what is going on. He is the best math teacher I have ever had. Take him for any math class if you get the chance.
Professor Wagner is very clear and only teaches the material he tests you on. He enjoys stats and does expect you to come to every class and to come on time. He teaches to the very last minute but you will learn what you need to know for your exams. I am taking another math class with him next semester.
He is fantastic. Take his class, enjoy it, study his notes, do home work and get an A
I love his teaching style, very clear, do your works and get an A.He's really nice, always there for extra helps, and review the old stuff if you need.I really like him, and want to take all math classes with him.
Amazing teacher all around. Very bright, basically never makes mistakes. Easy to follow. Lack of variety, class is entirely him copying his notes on to the chalkboard and explaining them, but it works well.
He's a very nice teacher. Always answer students' question whenever you ask. Clarify and make sure you understand the content. Overall, he's a good teacher. I'm sure you will like him
It has been said by some that Prof. Wagner could teach a cucumber to integrate... He is without any doubt the most organized professor I've ever had. The notes are great, just copy what he writes on the board. I guarantee they will be the most understandable notes you've ever taken.
No one explains the ideas behind calculus as clearly as this great guy, however my only complaint is that there seemed to be a deal of fluff in the notes out of his love of logic, proofs and discrete math. After taking the final and all my tests I spent A LOT of time on material which was not helpful. His worksheets and quizzes are awesome though
I just dont know where to start with this guy, I don't think I have anything negative to say about him. Being a 30 year old who hasn't touched math like this in ten years, yet I waas able to jump right back in and get an A in the class really says a lot. Like mentioned before, take all of the notes and do the homework.
Best Teacher ever!!! I took calc 1, calc ll, and now taking calc lll with him and all I have to say s "World Best Teacher" it is hard to fail his class. His notes are so clear and easy to understand. i just studied his notes ans did 0 HW and still got A's in all he classes i took with him and currently have A in Calc lll
Professor Wagner is clear, concise and just likes to teach. He enjoys math and conveys that through his teaching. He helps you understand anything you may have missed on a test. There is no tricks, no manipulations and no nonsense with him. I wish all Professors were as down to earth as he is.
This professor is amazing! He knows how to teach and I plan on taking calc classes with him throughout the summer. Great guy and I wish him nothing but the best!
Wagner is the best. Easily got an A in Calc II during the summer because he explains everything so clearly. Wish he taught diff eq.
Professor Wagner is very good at teaching the material in a clear and concise way. I was worried about Calc 2, but I am glad to be taking it in his classroom. He seems like a generic professor at first, but if you listen to him he can actually be funny at times.
He is a very helpful and clearly teaches the subject for you to easily understand it. Makes math easy very easy to learn, is definitely one of the best teachers to take for any higher level math.
VERY old-school. No online HW but doesn't grade HW anyway. Material is pretty tough but he's good at breaking it down in basic terms. Extremely neat handwriting on chalkboard. He's a fair grader but no extra credit so you better do well on exams & quizzes. Not super supportive -like a nerdy, eager robot math professor which isn't a terrible thing.
I took him in the summer for Calc 2, and as a UB student, his class is a lot easier. It is condensed into 5 weeks, which makes the work load a little overwhelming if you actually want to learn the material. Exams were not very hard though, since he does not give you very long to learn the material (in return he makes the exams easier).
He is the best professor I have ever had. It would be worth redoing your whole schedule just to be in his class. I felt like a genius because all my friends who had different professors for the same class would be complaining while I didn't even have to study and got an A in Calc 1.
Very reasonable grader, and quite generous when it comes to giving partial credit but he can be a bit strict when it comes to small things like notation, but hes not too harsh when he takes points for that. He is very clear in lecture and never makes you feel like an idiot for asking questions in class.
Really nice and reasonable person. If you come to class and pay attention, you'll do great. He's very fair and explains things very thoroughly. You might need to review and process the information on your own time though. Bonus: he even let me eat in class!
He explains things very clearly and is always willing to help students. If you understand the examples from class and the quizzes the tests are very similar.
I like math, I find it interesting and I look forward to class. I do find this class harder than many math classes I've taken. I would like to have more things to be graded on than just the four tests, six quizzes, and the final. He doesn't always explain things in a very intuitive manner.
Extremely nice professor, but he really makes you work for your grade. Only offers tests and quizzes that count towards your average. He recommends to do the homework problems, but doesn't grade them. If you pay attention and do the homework you'll be fine. He is strictly all math and no play.
best teacher ever, if you have the chance to get him for a teacher snag him up!
Easily the best math teacher I have ever had. All of the information that I have seen before in HS finally makes sense, and I feel as if I have actually been taught information. Quizzes are a big part of the grade, and the tests are very important, but there are no surprises.
I thought I already had a fav prof before taking his class but i was wrong. prof wagner is very clear with his lectures and if you want to obtain a deeper understanding with math take his class! all the concepts i have learned before really connects now. hw is optional but the hw can be hard sometimes. might take a few hours if you chose to do it..
an odd fella but knows his stuff and is a great teacher. i would gladly take a class he teaches again. show up everyday and you will do fine. make sure you do the quizzes and do the homework along the way.
Easy to understand and instead of having you being talk to he talks with you to figure out what the question you ask is. Beware there is another math professor with the last name Wagner go for Michael, if you want to learn the material in class and not at home
Best math teacher ever!
Really hard but nowhere near as hard as Calculus I. Ensure notes have no typos. Had to get help least 3 out of 5 days per week - relying on Technical Discrete Math won't save you (helped 20%). No textbook. Never saw tutor (extremely limited). Prof. Wagner and persistent hard work (long hours) each day saved me. Follow any of Wagner's advice.
Professor Wagner is the best math professor I have had so far. His notes in lecture are extremely clear, and makes material that is hard easy to understand. Very helpful during office hours. Exams were not extremely difficult and he gives good partial credit. I would highly recommend him for all levels of calculus, especially MTH 211 and MTH 212.
Professor Wagner is one of the best teacher's I have had in my entire school career. I don't know what it is, but he really helps you understand and learn the material like no other. As long as you listen and take notes in lecture, and do the practice from the textbook, you will do fine in any of his classes. Definitely recommend him.
My favorite math professor. Makes math concepts tangible. Many examples in class. Very clear, concise notes. Reasonable exams for the course. Gives topic lists for each exam. Fair grading policy. His love for math is clear.
Best teacher I've had for math, makes learning the material easy. I would definitely take a class with him again. If you have the opportunity to take a class with him, take it!
Great Professor. His material is clear, and organized. Test's follow the not exactly so their are never surprises. The ONLY thing I could say that is negative is that he doesn't take any class time to go over homework questions. Homework is done on your own and for your own benefit, but is more than willing to help outside the classroom.
Not a good professor to take if you have a learning disability or problems with numbers. He skips steps, tosses equations at you and on the board but doesn't write which scenario it guess with. Plenty of notes but again doesn't put what equations go to which scenario it doesn't give definitions. Does not go over quizzes or exams or homework....
Nice guy, you better pay attention though or you will fall behind. He only gives a few practice problems so you better be practicing outside of the classroom. He's got that "math teacher" vibe, so you can definitely tell he is very passionate about mathematics.
Wagner is a fantastic professor. Tried to take AP Calc in high school and didn't do hot. Took it again with Prof. Wagner, and understood the topics so well I rarely needed to do homework. HW was always just extra practice (if needed), aside from take home quizzes. If you take notes in class and study, you will succeed. Lectures are clear + concise.
The Ride of the Valkyrie is the only thing that could be compared to another Wagner. Michael Wagner is a human calculator, developed extensively by Texas Instruments he can do things in such a fantastic fashion it is like a Las Vegas show held at MIT. He gives you notes so concise that if he wrote the ten commandments we wouldn't debate any of it.
The notes are practice problems of how the exams will be like. Fair grader. Explains well and does not rush.
Professor Wagner is an amazing math professor. I am currently taking Calculus I with him and I specified that I wanted him for Calc II next semester. His class notes are all examples of using the various rules and theorems learned in the class, which help quite a bit on the tests.
Amazing professor. Breaks down the content and makes it easy to understad. Not very hard exams. I recommend everyone to take with him. I would take pre cal with him if he teaches it.
He is the best. I love Math because of him.
Prof. Wagner is amazing and has perfectly clear lectures. The math teacher at MCC.
Wags is a solid teacher.
Mr. Wagner has an amazing gift for making the complex concepts of math seem simple. I never could have fulfilled my degree requirements if it wasn't for his excellent instruction. As long as you attend class, pay attention, and practice the problems, you can do well in his classes. Truly a treasure of academia.
Exam are easy, study the notes! Do not be afraid to ask question, here is there to help! He is fair and never ignore anyone like other professor in this field. Easy learning paste. By far the best MATH teacher I've ever taken my whole life!
I love this man with all my heart. TI did a good job making him. Math wizard makes it so easy to understand.
Professor Wagner is one of the best math teachers ever! His notes are really clear and it doesn't matter how much math you know he will explain and answer any question. If you pay attention this class will be a breeze. Optional homework and quizzes and exams matter most. I wish I could take him for my other math courses.
One of the best math professors I have ever had. Explains material so well, making it fairly easy to understand. Take him!
Wagner very thoroughly explains the material and makes his notes easily accessible. He doesn't rush through the content and makes sure every bit is clearly covered. His exams are easy and questions are typically from his notes or class examples. He is not a tough grader and grading criteria is simple: 5 take home exams (and weeks to work on).
I have been in school/academics for over 16 years and have never met a professor like him. I hate math but Professor Wagner makes it so interesting and easy to understand. I love his lectures. If I would be ask "who is the best professor in Mathematics all across NY?" He would be the one. 100% recommend it!!!
He is amazing. Idk why he is rated as 4.7 here? He is literally a 10 for me! His lectures are wonderful. Very fair on the exam question. He never puts a question in an exam unless he had been over it during his lectures. I took Calc 1 with him and waited 1 semester so I could take Calc 2 with him too.
I think there is really something wrong with the people who have rated him less than 5 bc he is AMAZING. They either so lazy that got a bad grade or stupid.
Basically, you listen, you learn. He shouldn't be getting any rates below 4
He's an amazing professor. Explains everything well and is happy to clarify ant question, no matter how stupid. His tests and quizzes are fairly graded. He's pretty dry which is his only weakness, especially if you take his class later in the day.
He's lectures are great and understanding. He goes slow and makes sure everyone in the class gets it. His tests really correspond to his lectures/notes. So if you understand the lecture/notes and study them you will be fine on his tests. His tests are really heavy (66.3%) but its really fair test and doesn't do any trick questions.
His notes during lecture are clear and neatly written. The way he teaches is so simple, yet EFFECTIVE. If any professor deserves a 5/5, it's him, no question about it.
He teaches very well, very clear grading style and what he goes over is what is on the test, no tricky wording to questions either. There are 4 tests, the final can replace it if higher grade. All you have to do is pay attention, make sure you understand the topics, study for the test you'll be fine. Highly recommend to take him, easy class to ace.
Professor Wagner is amazing. He makes math so enjoyable. Really recommend him
Tests have no tricky questions, final exam can replace lowest test grade, drops lowest take home test, no MML. His teaching style wasn't for me and I felt like I didn't 'learn' with his methods. I struggle with tests and was unable to fully complete any of his exams. Being heavily graded on tests and having to leave many problems blank was rough.
I hated math in highschool, and I took this class on a whim. It was the first time math Made Sense to me, and I loved it so much that I kept going, and am a math PhD student. I cannot recommend this man highly enough. He is THE reason I went into math, and I owe him so much. If you need an elective, take whatever Michael Wagner is teaching!
Prof Wagner re-sparked my interest in math. He is an amazing lecture-giver and makes the course super interesting because of how simple he breaks everything down. Very clear, but heavy exam/quiz grading system: take-home quizzes that are easy and exams that have no curveballs. Always makes sure ppl have questions, and he never talks down to anyone.
Will go over a question you have or something you don't understand & has thorough notes. I struggled in this course because of his exams & would take points off for silly things. I'm not the best test taker, so it would've been nice to have practice exams especially considering how heavy it weighs on the grading scale...other than that, he's good!
Professor Wagner gives great lectures and notes. He explains everything very well and I never. He grades fairly and tells you exactly what you need to succeed on quizzes and exams beforehand.
it was such an easy course tbh, professor Wagner explained everything so well and so clear he so mindful and straightforward. he grades so fairly, only few things to grade, exams + open note quizzes which i really like. If i have to take Calc 2 i would like to take it with him again.
Professor Wagner is an outstanding professor. Highly respected at MCC. Very good at explaining math in very simple terms. If you do the textbook practice problems, you will pass his class no problem. Great guy!!!
This professor knows his stuff! He makes this course approachable and easy to manage IF you come to class, do the optional homework problems, and go see him with any questions or concerns. MTH165 has a LOT of content and it is not easy, but Prof. Wagner breaks it down very well. Listen to what he's saying and put in the effort and you'll do great!
He's a really nice professor, but he only grade from exam and not grade for participation or other things. In addition, he's class doesn't have homework, but he would give you practice problems on the Brightspace. Also, if you have any questions, he like to answer you and try to use easiest way to explain for you.
I took calc1 with Professor Wagner and he is amazing! Super straightforward and clear in how he teaches. Your grade is based only on take-home quizzes and unit exams—no required homework unless you want extra practice. I understood 100% of his lectures and I enjoyed the class! Would take it again definitely
Prof. Wagner is definitely one of the best professors that I've had! I took 165 and 210 with him as well. His lectures are informative, clear, and imo necessary for understanding concepts. It's pretty easy to schedule a meeting with him too. I was having a hard time with this class but meeting with him helped me figure out how to improve my grade.
I had Professor Wagner for Calc I and Calc II. His lectures are easy to follow and understand, I rarely had questions after class. His exams are fair with no trick questions, he gives partial credit when possible and grades fairly. I would highly recommend Professor Wagner for any math class you can take him for.
Mr. Wagner is incredible! As an adult student having not sat in a classroom, especially a math class, in almost 20 years..I walked out of that semester with a 96 overall. Show up to class each meeting, take good notes, and ask questions! Mr. Wagner is such a laid back and chill human, there's no stress or tension in his room.
Took his calc 1 class after i had taken AP calc BC in high school, but didn't get credit bc i didn't take the AP exam. Wagner did a great job integrating concepts and connecting them to each other and gave me better understanding. only grades were a few take home quizzes and in class tests.
Absolute GOAT, respected man. Took him for Calc 1 and Calc 3. If you do the practice problems you definitely can get an A. Very clear path and guideline to success for the class.
Prof Wagner is amazing. He helped me understand math so much more. His tests and quizzes are modeled after the notes in class. There's 4 lecture tests and 6 take home quizzes.
