Easiest class in the world! He's a lot of fun, and real enthusiastic about his subject. Plus, he gives you all the answers to all the tests.
he is the best teacher I learned alot from him and his way of explaining the subject he is very informative and helpfull

Had history of Native Americans with him. Very interesting class. Readings are not hard or a lot. He pratcially gives you answers to midterm and final. Very nice guy. Always in a good mood.
One of the best teachers at CSUN, he knows his stuff, qualified instructor, very easy going, understanding and helpful. Also for testing he gives you the essay part to take home, and provides to terms that will be on test. Easy to get a good grade.
he is the best teacher he is very helpful .I conceder him a real educator and leader.
Funny, enthusiastic, a spaz... but always laughing. Made a boring subject great! Also graded my papers well even though they often were a bit off topic... wasn't strict about sticking exactly to his emphasis, as long as you werent lazy or cheating.
His class is very easy. After a couple weeks he stops taking role. He gives out a study guide that is identical to the tests. Easy A.
His class consists of a mid-term, final and book precis. He's very enthusiastic about the subject, but lectures can become really boring. There's no hw and he gives you exactly what's going to be on the tests before you take it.
He is wonderful!!! Always carries a huge smile, very nice, very clear in his subject. No hw's or tests. Just the midterm and the final. He gives the midterm and the final study guide couple of weeks before, which is exactly the same tests. It's impossible to get a c or lower in his class.
one of the best teachers. Helpful and funny...and he is cute in a nerdy way :)
The class wasnt all that interesting. It was too early in the morning to be interested. We went off topic most of the semester leaving me with tons of questions at the end of the semester but the study guides have all the answers on themm, so good times.

He is a great and the nicest teacher. Tells his students what they exactly need to know for the exams.
Absolutely great teacher!!! Very helpful, patient, kind, and clear in his explanations. Grades papers and tests fairly, and provides you study guide to help you get a good grade on the exam...As long as put in even a little effort, *A* is easy to get! University can use more professors like him!
Extremely nice always in a good mood. He tells you what will be on the exams and essays. Two midterms and one book precis. The essays can be challenging especially if you don't read the books but he's an easy grader.
great teacher. lectures are clear and he prepares you very well for the tests. although he does tend to fall behind a little in the course but thats only because he spends a lot of time answering students' questions (sometimes same question about 50 times). highly recommended.
What a fun professor! Make class interesting and enjoyable. Love students to contribute to discussion. Lots of reading! Take notes and visit his website for lecture notes and you will get a good grade.
Great guy, nicest in History dept. will help u with everything, just an awsome person and instructor! Grades fairly and is not hard at all.
Great professor, easy class. Gives u the study guides two weeks b4 the tests and they have all the answers except for the essays. U have to do sumwhat of a book report. Its like a book summary. He's very easygoing and knows what he's talkin about; although lectures are boring unless u like history.
This guy was amazing. A little scatterbrained but you can really tell he loves what he does. The midterm and final were part take home and he also provides class notes online if you miss a day or want to compare with your own. Definately take this guy, you wont regret it!!!
Professor Ward is a wonderful teacher. He loves what he does and is very helpful. He is willing to work with you. He has alot of interesting stories and information. I would highly recommend him.
EASYYYYYYY TEACHER. HE PRACTICALLY GIVES YOU THE TET A WEEK BEFORE YOU TAKE IT. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE STUDY GUIDE AND YOU'LL GET AN "A" - I DID! (AND I BARELY WENT TO CLASS. I WOULD DEFINIETLY SUGGEST TAKING HIM! AND ON TOP OF IT ALL - HE IS REALLY NICE AND TRIES TO HELP YOU!
HE is an excellent teacher. He is fair and it is not a class that you will hate going to. If you are a competent person you should easily pass his class
Cute, fun, always smiling. Loves the subject matter, but goes off on tangents every day. Better off printing the lecture notes from website and taking to class. Write book precise, present easy current event, midterm, and final. Midterm and final are half take home essays and half fill in the blank in class. Just memorize the study guide.
Easy but boring. I wouldn't recommend for history majors. unorganized.
i like his hair and his laugh! lectures are boring but he's so ethusiatic that i would sometimes listen! you really only need to buy 1 book to do your precise on. for the take home sections, just use google. lots of cute guys take his course too! im glad i didnt drop he class cuz i got an a!
nice guy, but very unorganized and boring. i barely knew what was going on in class cuz he got into side conversations with his fav students. not too difficult though - just a book report and a bunch of take-home essays and memorizing fill-in-the-blanks for midterm and final. pretty straight forward on that part and graded fairly. dont recommend
the class is easy. he is kinda boring and will ramble forever. just be careful if you dont know much about the subject- it can go way over your head. lots of older wierdos in the class too. very simple to pass if you do the work
he is so sweet... so disorganized and confusing. the old people in the class killed me.... everyday i wanted to take a nap... some days i did. so nice, not so good to listen to. drones on and on and juat bored me and my fellow classmates to sleep. i got a b and barely paid attention.... so lame!
Graet teacher. His lectures are fun, and he gives you the test a head of time. He'll anwser his essay q's during class. Go out of your way to take him. He's worth it!!!
Very fun teacher, very enthusiastic, nice, and the tests are EASY because he gives them to you ahead of time in a study guide, where you can even bring flash cards to. The material is even pretty interesting. TAKE THIS CLASS for your Title V.
Besides being cute, he's such a pleasure to have as teacher. Very polite and so considerate. Okay he's a bit disorganized with his filing, but don't get me wrong, he will give you a very structured and VERY helpful study guides for the tests. His class has been by far, the best and easiest I have taken in years. I loved his teaching methods!
He's so enthusiastic about the subject. He's excited about teaching and is always willing to help students out and answers questions. He's one of the best teachers I’ve had; I’d recommend him to everyone. He tells you what's on the tests, so there are no surprises.
great teacher. very sweet & understanding. funny too. knows his material really well.
VERY SWEET AND HELPFUL...IF I HAD A 6:30 AM CLASS AND MADE IT, SO CAN YOU!
this professor is the greatest.... no suprises , easy on tests and essays but you still need to support your answers with solid informationhighly recommended for all undergrad classes
he is one of the easiest teachers i've had. you dont have to buy the textbook. Although i didnt read it at all, i got a B.
Great teacher! I would suggest for any non-history major in order to complete the Upper Division GE. Helpful, smart and a nice guy - easy A
His lectures are a little disorganized. but he is really help ful and understanding, a really nice sincer person. He really enjoys what he is teaching. He gives you the test before hand. So if you study it you'll do fine.
I think this teacher is easy for English student. There could be some difficulties for international students whose English is not perfect. Study guide is given and short answer is easy if you study and check the study guide. However, essay part is not so easy because of the not perfect English.
I really dislike history but he made it interesting. He focused on the stories of the people, which made it much more than just dates and facts. There was a midterm & a final, for which he gave all the questions & answers in advance, and allows notecards during the tests. Also has 1 book precis u can keep correcting & turn in til you get an A.
I had this class at 8 am and he made it so difficult to stay awake. Most of the class either didn't go or fell asleep. The midterm is take home and one book precie, but the class overall was a joke. His lectures went off topic we never fully covered a subject and there was no way to take notes.
The best professor on campus! You learn so much from his classes. The first teacher I met that's truly passionate about his work. Only two exams and one book precis. Gives easy extracredit as well. Highly Reccomended for any student to take him. Passes a role sheet in the beginning of class to sign and then leave.
He is a great professor to take! Although his lectures are disorganized most of the time, he posts the majority of his lectures on the class website. Also, he lets you do the essays and identifications for the midterm and final at home, you only have to do a fill-in-the blank section in class. All you left to do is a book precis and current event.
An amazing history professor. Genuinely passionate about his work. He gave me two exams: Midterm and Final. Then provided us with a handout of everything on the final PLUS the essay is take home. Really not that bad for an upper division. Highly reccomended for any history/education major. Passes a role sheet around as attendance.
best taecher in the school makes you work for your grade but is there to help you if you need it. has lots of stories that make the class sooo interesting.
Hey people, I took his 6:30 in the MORNING class. It was hard enough to get to class, but worth it. Very passionate professor, one of the best I have had at CSUN so far. Take him if you can. Midterm and Final are take home essays with 20 fill in the blanks to do in class. Book Precis is also assigned. Dont need to buy text, just the 2 novels.
He's a great professeor who is truly passionate about teaching. I highly reccomend taking him. He passes around an attendance sheet and gives a midterm and final only. PLUS he provides a study guide and hte essay is take home. Highly reccomended for all and an overall great guy.
He used to either give take home tests or let you take notes into the test, but now he makes you memorize the info. He still gives you everything you need to memorize before the test, though. He's a nice teacher who can be unclear but he's enthusiastic. A very laid back, mildly interesting course.
Professor Ward is the best--no homework and only a midterm, final (muliple choice-20 questions, and 3 take home essays), and book precsis( rewrites allowed if you want a better grade). Makes you work on the take home stuff but is a fun and engaging teacher highly recommended for all levels
He's one of the best teachers i've had. He's very energetic and entusiastic about the class. He explains things very clearly and enjoys answering students questions. I highly recommend him. One of the best teachers i've had so far. Easy A class if you do the work and pay attention in class
he is the best I am very honoured to have him as a teacher althogh I graduated but I am still considered him a role model for every student who wants to build his future take his classes he is he greatest
An amazing professor. Passionate about his work and retains his sense of humor. Only two tests and a book report. Does take role. At times classes can be a bore but just an altruistic guy who cares. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED!!!
save yourself dont take this class...
easy class.......one midterm, a paper, and a final...no hw...gives the tests in advance so all you have to do is memorize your answers.....subject is boring but he keeps it interestinggg.....easy A...attendance isnt mandatory, he only looks at it if your grade is border line.....allows rewrites for the paper until you get an 100%....TAKE HIM!
he is really enthusiastic and peppy. He is a great teacher, but his lectures are all over the place. He is a "lecture jumper" that can get many students lost. In other words, his lectures are not linear. This makes everyone either daydream or stop attending classes. The tests consist of essays, words recognition. One current event must be done
Professor Ward is the greatest, not real tuff on testing but asks questions that require you know and understand the material
seems easy, but grades very hard. midterm and final is a take home essay but gives hard grades. also gives hundred terms to memorize but only asks 20 questions. 10 g paper also due. lectures are not consistent. class could be boring, but teacher is very enthusuastic
An amazing professor. A little disorganized so don't expect to see him at posted office hours. Genuine in the sense he wants his students to pass the course AND understand the material. He does provide alot of terms even though he only picks twenty yet its better than not having any of the material before the final right? Great guy.
Cordial teacher who is passionate about history. Tends to stray 'off topic' for students to get the bigger picture. Classes consist of either classic lecture, video, or occasional powerpoint. Takes attendance every day. Three straight forward midterms: 20 of the 90 terms, 1 or 2 short answer, 1 essay question all from the study guides. Recommend :)
He's a good professor I suppose. Helpful and very caring. However, I thought he was a hard grader on the essay portion of the exam considering it was an in-class essay.
A ping-pong way of teaching. Lot's of going off on tangents but he is Mr. California (he know's everything!). I would definitely recommend him b/c you'll get a good grade.
Passionate about his work. I enjoyed every moment of class. At times could be a bit boring and difficult to attend around mid-semester, but a great professor to work with. He was difficult to reach during office hours but was still willing to work with me. Simply study the guides he provides and you'll pass the class.
Gives you the same exact questions that are going to be on the test one month ahead of time. Grades his in class essays pretty hard. Lecutres are ok.
He teaches the course like a 600 level class. He wants so much...But doesn't exactly tell you what it is. EXTREMELY hard and unfair grader who i WOULD NOT recommend.
He's a very nice guy. He loves his subject and has a lot of experience in it. Problem is that he goes off on tangents very easily, and he doesn't get to lecture on all of the material. He'll then test you on it, so you need to look at outside sources to get to whole picture with some things(sometimes the texts don't have this info). I did enjoy.
I took his 6:30am class and I would not suggest it. Not only was it very hard to wake up for, his lectures are very boring as well. He grades very hard on his tests and whenever I asked him what I could do to improve he was no help.
Nice guy, but tests are hard, essay format. It is very unclear how to study for his tests becuase he uses a bunch of different books that are more like poetry books than text books. If you suck in essays don't take his class. Boring as well.
Hated his class. Really boring lectures because they are all over the place hard to take notes. The class seems easy because he gives you the midterms in advance but grades very hard. I thought I was going to like his class but I has very disappointed. Don't take his class.
This professor and class is easy to begin with as it has take home midterm, final taek home and a paper. he can grade hard if you don't do what he asks you to do. If you divide your work then this can be an easy class. i would recommend this professor.
He is a great professor and all. He goes through the material quite well and in great detail. The only criticisms of him are that he grades hard on the exams and is reluctant to review the material to the students.
Hard class. I had the early 6 am class. You must read and read and read some more. If you dont read you will not understand one word he says. I didnt not read for the first week till i got my books and i was clueless. If you like to do essay's take the class. i have the books for sale, e-mail me. [email protected]
not a great professor, but ive still had far worse. his lectures are scattered, you can never tell what he is talking about, and they're incredibly boring as well. You're better off skipping class and teaching yourself...or better yet, your better off choosing a different professor. sorry ward!
Very enthusiastic about his job, very solid instructor; professional, supportive toward those with jobs/families. Knows his subject. Expects undergrads to act their age, which probably explains some of the ratings.
this huy was tight, he was fairly easy, easy reading and gives you the test questions ahead....take him he's cool
Very knowledgeable, very enbthusiastic; very willing to work with students who need help, even some of the drive-bys. Very decent individual.
He's sooooooo attractive! :-D Wooow!
This prof makes history very interesting. I am a science geek and took this class only because I had to. Really sparked my interest. Office hrs very helpful.
People who say junk about them obviously didn't read. I promise it is possible to get an A in his class; there are 3 exams all essay form and he gives you the questions ahead of time. He is fun and passionate for history. My only advice is READ...hello you're in college you should read anyways!
One of the best proseffors I've had at CSUN. He not only knows the material but he likes it. It shows that he has a passion for teaching. I would like to take other classes he offers.
Excellent professor! He loves what he teaches and a very nice man. If you want a good grade, see him in his office hours and he'll answer any questions and corrects all the notes you have. Amazing person and professor!
Goes off on tangents and is hard to follow. Class is very boring although he knows his subjects. I would take somebody else.
Love this professor! He is passionate about his subject. Is a very fair grader and will always help you when you ask. Does get off subject once in awhile, but only because he has so many personal stories about the subject. Midterms and final only with info given ahead of time.
He would lecture off topic a lot which made class kind of boring. The class consists of three exams which are all essays, so studying the textbooks helps out a lot. Very friendly and cheerful professor, but I don't think non-history majors would enjoy this class.
You absolutly must read the textbooks and write excellent papers. you are in college now, he won't tell you to read Ch. such and such on such and such a day-figure it out yourself. Professors won't spoon feed you like you were in High School. Take excellent notes, that is what is on the tests-back it up with textbook facts and examples.Great Prof
NOT a good class. SOOO boring, his office hours are a waste of time. the books are all about specific people and their experiences. MUST!! read all the books, but impossible to pay attention in class... too many tangents, his enthusiasm doesn't make learning any easier.... DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF!!!!!!!!!!
I enrolled in the online class and immediately dropped out after orientation. There is no midterm or final exam. Half of your grade is based on 15 in depth questions a week that cannot contain 50% of what the last person said. This doesn't even make sense because it's history! I highly recommend a different professor.
loved the class! it was very interesting and lectures got boring sometimes...read the textbook and note lectures and you'll be fine. three essay tests...but he gives you the questions that will be there and then he chooses a couple. overall pretty easy! and i am no history major!
His lectures go off topic so often. He spent weeks of lectures taking about random things that had nothing to do with the topic. The textbooks were terribly unhelpful as well.
He is very easy! He gives 3 essay exams, in which he gives you the questions ahead of time. Attendance is not mandatory, just make sure you show up on the days he gives the study guides out, because they are the SAME AS THE TEST. He does expect you to read, and if you read, the class is easy. He gives higher grades if you give more details in work
Dr. Ward is extremely easy going and does whatever he can to help the students. Even though I didn't turn in a late assignment, he is open to student's problems and will even accept late assignments by email. Some may call him a push-over but I think he is very understanding and helpful especially in the research paper process.
Good professor. His interest and passion for history is reflected in his teaching. Really easygoing and straight forward. Readings are a must, and his lectures are very helpful towards the exams.
He is so hot!! i wouldnt want to miss any of his classes because i love to come in and stare. The only problem is be careful not to daydream about him because it is easy to get distracted by his good looks.
Lectures are useless, just read the books and show up to take the essay exams.
You must read to pass this class!!! The essay exams are hard, but you will be fine if you study. It seemed as if most of the class fails the weekly reading quizzes...they are pretty hard and you need to know specific details from the reading. I got a C in the class
He is a really sweet/friendly guy! But he often goes on tangents. Lectures are confusing! His reading quizzes are hard (must read!) however gives LOTS of extra credit! He is really understanding. Exams (2 midterms and final) are written, but if you ask he will preview an outline beforehand (which got me an A!) Take good notes/read & its easy! No HW
let me start off by saying history is my worst subject, i got B's and C's through high school in all my AP history classes. this class reminds me alot of AP us history; you must read. coming to class isn't really necessary as the quizzes are almost purely from the book. READ THE BOOK. i didn't. i got C's, but i could have done better if i had read.
He's a good guy. If history gets you going, he's perfect for you. If you hate history, you don't belong in his class. You'll get a good learning experience if you try and go to class and listen. He helped with a paper for another class even after the semester I had him. I recommend him.
Nice guy but lectures are a bit boring. He gives you a study guide of 3 exam questions, picks 2 the day of the exam. Missed half the classes but still got a B+
He is a really nice guy but his lectures can get boring. Class is based on 2 midterms and a final that are essay format & several multiple choice quizzes. He hands out the exam questions in advance but will not tell you which one he will pick to be on the test so you end up studying for ALL of them. You MUST READ the book to pass this class.
First professor I ever rate. I love this rate. Smart, knowledgeable, can be stern and fair at times. It was a Summer session, with quiz every week and essays midterms (which he gives out the topic beforehand). English is my second language and I can still get A, you guys could too.
If you hate reading, don't take him !!! You MUST read the book in order to pass the class. Lectures are useless. AVOID if you don't like to read a lot of books.
I'm not a big fan of being graded to learn history but the class is required for me to graduate. Great professor and very helpful. Class exams are not that bad because he provides a clear review sheet.
He reminds me of a TV dad. He's very helpful and very passionate about his job, esp native american hist. One of the best teachers i've ever taken. Very funny in a nerdy kinda way. discussions are interesting. totally cool guy. fun fact: i was buzzed when i did a presentation in his class and got a B+.
For a history teaher, he is the best you will get. I HATE history but he actually made it simple for me. There is alot of reading involved, read everything. Quizzes are based off of the readings. Midterms and Finals are essay format, he gives you the questions before hand. STUDY them and you will pass with flying colors.
quiz on 100 pages every 2 weeks. Class is POINTLESS. This guy talks on and on. Do not expect to leave 1 minute early in his class, he will talk until time is up. 2 midterms 1 final 5 quizzes. gives the midterm/final questions out beforehand and takes out 1 or 2. tests are EXACT same questions on the study guide.easy class if your good at memorizing
He really knows & likes his subject. He explains it well & is clear about what you need to know. Lectures are long & can be boring, but attendance helps for tests. Essay questions are hard, but carefully prepare answers that FULLY answer all parts of the questions in advance so you know what to write. Got an A- for fully answering the questions.
what a nice smile he has .He is very knowlegable and smart .I really enjoyed his class. I hate history but the way he teaches did motivate me to listen and read and get an A . By the way English is my second language .
two exams (prompt given ahead of time) & a final. Lectures are all over the place but once you get the prompt you can study the material on your own. He's sweet. No quizzes. Doesnt grade down for attendance but it can help raise your grade if you are inbetween grades. He doesnt curve but also grades easy. Exams are mostly essay with short mc sect.
he gives out the exam questions before the exam, but they're useless because his lectures, the book or google doesn't answer the questions. i would go to office hours with answers to those questions and ask for feedback & he'd promptly REFUSE. a lazy, disorganized & unhelpful professor. it's easy to get a C, difficult to get an A. no assignments.
Prof VERY helpful and tests require a lot, but he requires us to read and be in class. One guy wined a lot cuz he didnt like reading and wanted prof and some of us to tell him what to write. Hey welcome to university! I got an A but I had to work for it. Ward is one of the best I had at CSUN.
PROS: Attendance isn't required although it may help you when between grades, only three tests and HE GIVES YOU A STUDY GUIDE WITH EVERYTHING ON IT, really funny too. Lightest reading I've ever had as a History major. CONS: Lectures regularly go off on tangents, you are better off studying yourself honestly, classes feel like they go on forever.
Two midterms and one final. Graded 30-30-40. Wonderful lectures, he is a walking and talking encyclopedia. Knowledgable about everything when it comes to history. No homework assignments throughout the semester. Study guide will help you prepare for test, books may be unnecessary because all the information is available to you via internet. Do it!
Knows his subject. Seems to grade fairly so, if you study you should do fine. But this professor more than any other has a strange something about him.
Dr. Ward is a great professor. He knows the material and is very helpful when you ask for clarification. He gives three exams including the final and he gives you the study guide a few weeks in advance. His exams have three parts: multiple choice, short essays, and a long essay. If you do the reading you'll pass the class with an A.
He is very passionate about his subject and has much experience in his field. Show up to class and pay attention and you should do fine on his exams. He is a very fair grader.
Dr. Ward is extremely nice. His class HIST.369 has a LOT of reading - so get the books & read ASAP - don't wait until the last minute like I did haha. The exams are all written, but he gives you the questions in advance. But that doesn't mean they're easy - He does expect a lot of details and information on the exams, so be prepared. MEMORIZE!
Dr. Ward teaches his class by slides. The tests are hand written and he expects QUANTITY and quality. The answers are heavily based from the BOOKS and some lecture. Even though the tests are graded pretty tough, he does give you direction by providing the questions to study. He is a nice person, easy to get along. His teaching methods are boring.
This is probably one of the easiest classes in the History department. Dr. Ward is very approachable and gives lectures on topics that are covered in the books. He gives on occasion extra credit assignments. I would recommend this class to anyone who just want to learn a brief history of Native American peoples in the Americas .
Took multiple classes with him and enjoyed them all. He is very passionate about what he does and loves his students. Easy to have a conversation with and overall just a great guy. The homework is the only downside. Plenty of reading and some presentations. Nothing too difficult.
His exams are pretty hard, unreasonable. He never give full credits. He is a tough grader.
I don't understand how anyone could fail his class. Just do all the reading and you'll be fine. 2 essay exams but the questions are given weeks in advance, just repeat back everything he's said in lecture and you'll get an A. One book precis which was rather simple on CA history of your choosing. Also has 1 extra credit book precis. Real easy class
A lot of reading assignments! He gives you the questions that will be on the written exams so you can prepare. You can skim read and you'll be fine, but if you want an "A" you'll probably need to do more than that. Attendance is like extra credit, not really mandatory. He is outgoing and passionate about history. I would take him again.
The only thing that makes the class difficult is that his tests and quizzes are critical to your grade. They can be easy or difficult depending on what option/topic you choose to answer them on. As long as you remember the terms or do the reading you will pass.
I liked this professor on a personal level. He's excited about his subject even though the class doesn't always share his enthusiasm. Your grade is based on three tests, so if you study and write a LOT for the exams you should get a good grade. The lectures are boring though and I didn't find them helpful.
Very kind and funny professor. He doesn't give extra credit and although attendance wasn't mandatory, it's always best to show up. I hate history & this past fall semester was my second time taking hist 270. Prof Ward somehow made it bearable. Just study the study guide & follow his grading criteria & you'll B fine! only 3 exams (terms & essay Q)
He's a super sweet guy, always smiling, talkative and friendly. He gives you the questions for the exams beforehand, there's no reason why anyone should fail. His lectures often go off on tangents and there's really no reason to take notes, since you already know whats gonna be on the exam. He's not exactly an easy grader though.
Professor Ward is just as energetic as he is passionate about teaching. He is the ideal professor for seminars as he is open-minded, allows students to have a sense of individuality and understands the teaching environment at all times.
Class is manageable to pass , but not an easy A. He expects a lot of reading. Even without reading you can get a C if you understand the lecture. He does give out a study guide to prep for the exams. Read them and do your best to answer them it helps out a lot. The professor is sweet and tries to bring up interesting topics to discuss in lecture
History is boring, but he makes it bearable! He's helpful you just need to ask. He's not a tough grader, but your grade is based on 3 written exams, one being the final. Attendance is important as he has a sign in sheet, its for the best. Take notes on what he says and have your readings done it helps, the power points are not enough to get you by.
Class consists on 3 tests. I would recommend going to class until you see how you do on the first test. He gives you questions for the test before hand so you can study & you pick which one you want to answer, however he removes a few questions so prepare more than one Q. EX: There's 5 subjects you can write on, 3 will be an opt. on the test. Easy!
Only had to take 3 tests all semester. Attendance is mandatory to score the extra credit quizzes. He hands out the test questions 2 weeks before the test. Passing the class isn't hard if you pay attention to the handouts. If you want an A sharpen those writing skills. The tests are writing heavy. Be generous with your time.
This class was both interesting and entertaining. Dr. Ward has the ability to teach heavy/dull topics in a creative and fascinating way to keep students engaged. He is incredibly sweet, he truly cares about his students and their success. Two midterms and a final exam which are all essay's and thats it, very doable. Highly recommend!
I love Dr. Ward! He is incredibly sweet and funny! He gets really engaged with his lectures. Before the two midterms and final exam, he gives out a study guide beforehand of what literally is going to be on it. That way, you can prepare and know what youre going to write about. There was no homework nor quizzes. Definitely take him!!! :)
Professor Ward is passionate about history and tries to it interesting to the class. However, it's very dependent on you reading the required text and doing a lot on your own. He does offer extra credit if you bring it up to him and is willing to help outside of class.
This class was later in the day so it was hard to focus but he's a really nice guy. You'll have 3 tests where you have to read the book along with other smaller books that will be on the essay exam. If you're a strong writer then take this class he also give you a study guide make sure you take advantage of it!
Easy A. Professor is super chill. Gives the exam questions in advance. My advice is do the questions in advanced and study and memorize your answers. When test day comes all you have to do is rewrite your answers. Lecture is mandatory because he takes attendance even for a big class. If you are missing at least 20% he will start deducting points.
This teacher just doesnt make any sense. There is no such thing as getting 100 on a test or assignment. He will comment you did amazing then give you 86/100. How does that make sense? His powerpoint are just pictures with no info about anything. Don't take this unless you really have no choice.
During COVID-19 his exams were better in-class. We switched to online & hed take points off for simple 1 sentence matching someone elses like Washington was the 1st US president. He took about two weeks to respond to emails. Responds faster through canvas. Exams arent hard. Id take him again for in person classes only. Lectures scattered.
Great man, just was not a fan of his teaching. Lectures and the textbook were not helpful for exams. All of his slides are basically pictures. There are 3 written exams.
Lectures are a bit boring, especially when he goes on tangents, but he genuinely loves teaching & always comes with a smile. He had two midterms & a final for my class. All were long essays, but he gave us all the prompts ahead of time & everything is open note. It's hard to fail & if you do, that's on you for being lazy.
His lectures were super long, they ran about 3 hrs 45 mins which is so hard to get through. Attendance is mandatory or you're grade will be dropped a whole letter grade down. You have a Midterm broken down into 4 parts, a current event, and final exam. I would take him again if the class was shorter, he is very understanding with personal issues.
He has a lot lectures so prepare to write or type because most of the assignments have their answer located in the lecture that he gives out. He has a mandatory textbooks that you need to get because one is need for the final exam essay. he has total of 4 midterms but there all easy as long you use the lectures and books to your advantage.
Weekly discussion posts are due. The answers are all in the textbook that he provides, if you know how to manage your time you will do great in this class! He also provides good feed back explaining what he is looking for. His lectures vary some days are more interesting than others but he is very nice and you can tell he loves what he does.
Literally the cutest older guy ever, he actually felt like my own grandpa at times. He loves to get to know his students and is super funny, yet so caring about everyone. Lectures are long but he is so passionate about his work and knows every. detail, it is actually interesting to learn California's history.
The professor is engaging and cares about students. Lectures can be long but informative. The textbook and discussion posts are key to doing well. unstuckstudy was helpful for study prep.
Professor Ward is a funny guy and very knowledgeable about the subject. Very long lectures, a couple of papers, and extra credit is given. EC alone can help you pass the class. Attendance technically isn't mandatory and you can do his lectures at home. He's a bit disorganized and forgetful at times. Overall, it's an easy class to pass.
