Great instructor if you let him know if you need help, he is very helpful. Ask questions and participate in discussions. Won't be an easy A but won't be a hard one either if you do the work and he sees you trying.
Great professor. Extremely helpful and friendly. Lots of group work and class discussion. Easy A, if you somewhat participate and do your work (he always accepts late work). Take him for a flex class!
Super wonderful instructor. He works with his class as long as you try you will do really great!
Professor Ward is extremely helpful and kind! He definitely makes himself available, approachable, and he is reasonable. He has his students' best interests in mind and answers emails fast - usually within one day if it's not a weekend. Lots of group work and three major papers during the semester. I would take this professor again!
Mr. Ward is extremely helpful. I took him for 1301 and wish he was available for 1302. All you have to do is ask for help and he will explain it so well your guaranteed an A. I only got a B because my daughter got sick and I missed a paper.
Mr. Ward is a great teacher. He knows the subject, and he also knows how to get you interested in learning. The class is pretty much group work, no tests, readings almost nightly, and 3 formal papers. He also has a liberal sense of humor, as long as you dont go to far with a joke he'll more then likely find it funny I would definitely recommend him
Mr. Ward is great professor, he helps you whenever you need it and answers question with no problem. The class consisted of two unformal paper, three formal papers, and one group powerpoint presentation. There was also plenty of group work from the book and homework readings, but overall the class was fairly easy.
easy, easy, good teacher.lots of group work, you need the books, 4 major papers but he is real easy going doesnt expect to much.
Nice guy. Likes to work with the class and involve everyone.
prof ward is a very helpful and a very understanding instructor. he has a good sense of humor and will help you with whatever you need. i def recommend him. not an easy A, but not a hard A either.
Great teacher!!!
Mr. Ward was a great teacher! However, you must get the books if you want to pass the course. He emphasized the students citing sources in the last two of the three major papers. On the third paper, he allows his students to correct and re-submit for a higher grade. He also has a class debate at the end of the semester. Would take him again!
Professor Ward is a very good teacher. He pushes you to think critically. While he does give you plenty of assignments, they are really just intended to make you think. If you think critically and complete your assignments you will do very well.
Mr. Ward is very helpful. The book is mandatory. Essays are somewhat easy but if you get a low grade he will let you revise your essay for a better grade. Highly recommend him.
Mr. Ward is a very nice teacher. He has quizzes on the book every so often. They are 4 papers throughout the semester. He lets you revised them for a better grade. At the end of the semester he has a final group presention and a small response how you improved in writing! Recommend him!!
sweet guy; easy class. I was always absent because of my daughter and doc. appt. and he would give me credit for at least helping my group and gave me a chance to finish a late paper. Give him notice if it is an emergency. About 4 papers through his whole class; grades fairly. Do the work and participate and you'll do just fine.
Mr. Ward was one of the best Professors I have had in quiet awhile. He takes the time to really help you if your struggling. During group exercises he assists and answers any questions you might have in a comprehendible way. Also, he engages with the students by asking them how their day is going. Super cool teacher! I would take his class again.
He is the best english professor at NVC. Just do your work and put effort into it and you will get a A.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND him AT ALL!! He sets you up for failure! Does not teach, prepare to have a quiz the second day of class that is NOT MULTIPLE choice!! Essay format questions. Had he prepared us better we all could've gotten better grades. I would not take any of his classes again.
He was not very helpful found him to be misleading. He was not very clear on certain things and was difficult to understand
His class was easy! You would read out of the book and then a quiz the next class but you only need to answer 5 questions correctly to make an A. There was only 4 papers you do and one 6 page paper due at the end of the semester. He's extremely nice and will work with you when need help. He is not a harsh grader at all.
Professor Ward is the best english professor!! You will get an A if you turn in everything on time doesn't matter if you finish the assignment or not! You do most of your assignments in a group. I loved his class! TAKE HIM!!!!!
Very nice professor! He isn't a hard grader! You do class assignments in a group. FINAL EXAM was breeze. There is no way you can fail his class!
do not take the class with him !!! he is so boring and hard to grade.
Mr. Ward is a great english professor. He gave us plenty of notice before hand to do the essays and will give you the straight truth about your essay when grading. He evaluates your potential and then grades upon that. Essentially, if you show him that you put in the effort, you will get a good grade. OVERALL: He's a great guy and makes you think.
He gives a lot of work which is usually read with a 5 question quiz, discussion questions, essay, etc. His class was relatively easy and a good recommendation of your average teacher.
His class is relatively simple. You walk into a 5 question quiz and a group assignment out of the book, and he helps you out quite often. The answers are reviewed as a class and you get an A for the assignment. He's efficient and would recommend him to be your teacher.
Mr Ward is a great teacher, but I don't like how almost all assignments at done as groups (which you don't pick). If you get grouped with slackers, you are screwed. Other than that, the class is relatively easy, and he really is a great instructor.
Mr. Ward was a great professor. I took World Literature on campus. Initially I wasn't a fan of working in groups, but it turned out fairly well. Gives you chances to raide your grades at the end of the semester. Favorite lit teacher thus far!
A very sophisticated man with some gentle grading. He puts you in groups, making your work easier if your group participates. Essay topics are interesting, but your essay is rather a long 5-6 pages. He's great, and although you must work hard, you're guranteed to pass his class with flying colors.
He really does grade based on the potential he sees in you. So if he sees that you're really smart, he's going to be really tough on you grading-wise. This is by far the toughest class I've had at Vista and I like that it's a tough class. The only thing I would change about this class are the daily group assignments, which I'm not a fan of at all.
he is a nice professor but if you dont like to write dont take him you have like 4 or 6 essays and all of them are like 4 pages long or even longer the final i took in his class had to be from 4 to 8 pages thats to much and when you have to work in groups he picks for you if your lookinbg for a easy class this is not one
Do not get him period!!!! he is very little help and gives you essays that must be at least 4-6 pages long or even longer. Don't even think about taking him period!!!!
He makes you watch black history films in class which has noth to do with our studies. (offensive) He will give you low grades if he doesn't like you. There is seriously something wrong with this man.DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Although the class required a sufficient amount of work, it was not hard. If you are looking for a professor to baby you, and aid you in every writing need, do not take him. He can be harsh, and will not always give help. Almost all the assignments are group work, so unless you have a good one, be prepared to do all the work alone, or fail.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF! Homework assignments are to read 50+ pages, and in class you work as a group (that he assigns) to complete an assignment over what you read. He spends the last 5-10 minutes of class going over the assignment. If you got it wrong, or didn't understand the book, you're screwed. His quizzes are ridiculous! Papers are 6-7 pages.
I have mixed feelings about Mr. Ward's class. On one hand, I think he's very nice and willing to help you out if you seek out the help. On the other hand, the way his class is structured doesn't help you prepare for the midterm and paper. Literally every single day is spent doing group assignments that get graded last-minute.
I really like this guy. Likes Dream Theater, great taste in music. His group assignments, while plentiful, are usually pretty interesting. MBTI- wise iNuitives will enjoy his class, Sensors will find him frustrating. He grades based of your strengths and goes easy on your weaknesses. My advice is to get to know the guy, it makes all the difference.
Professor Ward always responds to your emails when you need help. He assigns lengthy essays, but gives you great topics to choose from. I wouldn't expect anything less from a college writing class. Overall, he is an excellent professor, and I'm happy that he was my professor.
Awful I have dropped this teacher out of pure dislike for his teaching strategy and his assignments. Every day is a group assignment, so you're grade is dependent on other people. And none of his material has anything to do with English. I tried asking how to better my grade and he said "Be more excellent". Un-helpful and extremely disappointing.
I loved Mr. Ward! Very laid back. There is a lot of in class assignments that are very easy. Most in class assignments are group work. The plus is we only did 4 formal essays fall semester. I am taking him next semester for 1302 for sure!!
Shy as an instructor, but very knowledgeable and passionate about his subject. Notes given on graded essays are useful and thorough. Understanding and friendly, as a person. You DO need access to the assigned readings, but that doesn't necessarily mean you need the books. Readings come from a wide variety of sources. Very group-oriented class.
Ward is a very intelligent professor. While yes, a tad shy - getting to know him makes all the difference as he appreciates those who spark an interest in him. He assigns about 3 essays and most assignments are group-orientated so if you are wary of that fact, be sure to lead the group work yourself to ensure a better grade. A favorite Professor!!
Professor Ward is very intelligent and he's always there to answer any questions! Took this class online and he does have a good amount of discussion boards. alot of reading required for the discussion boards. Final exam isn't hard, and neither are the quizzes. We took about 2 quizzes in the whole semester.
its a good professor, so many papers
Amazing professor! He is very thorough when grading your essays, but if you pay attention to what he finds wrong and use that knowledge for your next paper you should get a better grade. All you have to do is TRY. Essays are the biggest part of your grade so as long as you do everything you are suppose to the grade you get is on you, not him.
Professor Ward was the first professor I have had in college. He is kind of shy, but knows how to do his job and do it well. He likes group projects, so if you're not one for group projects, I suggest you find another professor. He also has very good feedback on how to improve your essays. He was absolutely my favorite professor.
Best professor ever! He works hard to get to know his students all individually and he's up to date with pop-culture, so talking to him is a blast. He made me feel at home and like he really valued my opinion and what I had to write about.
Online class. Easy class if you keep up with the reading and give yourself enough time to prepare for the essays. I consider myself a good writer, not great, but received high marks on my essays. Professor Ward was kind and helpful in choosing topics for essays. Responded to emails in a timely manner.
I was not looking forward to another English class but I LOVED his class. I loved the topics he chose and I loved the discussions we did. He gave feedback after every discussion to show what to do better on the next one. The papers are long but that is to be expected with any English class.
Prof. Ward is a pretty cool teacher; he likes to strike up random convos with the students. Though there are about 5 essays, only 3 are formal, and he's a pretty lax grader. There Is A LOT of reading, but thankfully all your assignments are group work so it's easy to get it done. Also, he is very liberal, so if your conservative beware.
Mr Ward is the kindest professor i have had thus far. He is very helpful and gives very good feedback when it comes to essays. There was a total of 4 essays and there is homework such as online discussions. But the reading he chooses for it is interesting and makes you want to do the work!
Prof. Ward seems to be a little shy. He does not talk much, but when he does it makes sense. What I didn't like was that there was not much guidance when it came to what was expected from the essays. Does not follow the new MLA format. There is a lot of group work, which is every class. He is a very fair grader and up to date on pop culture.
Professor Ward was the best English teacher I ever had, his class was so fun, and he made it really easy to learn the material. There is a lot of in class group work, but nothing hard. There are quite a few readings, but theyre short and you have quizzes over them. You write four essays through the course, but have plenty of time to complete them.
I took him both semesters. Almost everything is groupwork. His assignments are a lot of reading and answering questions but easy. You write 4 papers plus the essay. The topics are really easy. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE ESSAY. He makes you present once, but you are with your group, again don't worry! Its a breeze!! His class can get boring but its easy
He requires a textbook for the course but other then that, hes an amazing teacher and will help you with anything that you need. Amazing man that loves his job. Changed my life. I defianetly recommend taking this course with Mr. Ward teaching it!
The majority of all assignments are discussions. 1-2 discussions a week, all that's required is you read the pages from the literature books you buy. You must do 2 papers for his class, they make a large impact on your grade. He does let you turn in the papers late but it doesn't mean you should. He is very accessible, kind, caring and informative.
I would take another course with Prof. Ward in a heartbeat. His curriculum had soul. His required readings were thought-provoking. His essay assignments were exciting. His grading seemed to be based more on whether the student was putting in the effort and grasping the material than on minor details one might expect from an English instructor.
Mr. Ward was a very clear and consistence professor throughout the summer semester. Everything you worked on was a build up to the next paper you had to write for the class. Make sure you are aware of what is coming up on the syllabus, made this mistake and wasn't prepared for a quiz. You get what you put in.
This professor has way too many discussions considering its a online British literature class. There's no breaks in between discussion's. Its one discussion that's open for three days then another that's open three days and its continuous until the semester ends. the book was used a lot although most stories you can find online. Wouldn't take again
There is a lot of essays but the prompts were not extremely difficult. If you turn everything in on time you should be fine.
He doesn't teach you at all. But he's pretty easy. Just do homework and you will be okay. He's easy than others, no poems.
Ward is the worst professor Ive had. He doesn't teach class, he sits at his desk the entire period, he criticizes everyone whenever they speak, you can never be right when commenting on questions he asks, he doesn't grade assignments til months later (no joke), all work is busy work. He is so lazy and exceptionally boring. Trust me, don't take Ward
I think I took him at the wrong time because there was so many good things I heard about him but as soon as I came to class I was so bored by his lectures he would talk to slow and quiet I never really caught interest in the material. The grading was weird to me because I would get docked on the dumbest things. Not my favorite professor.
Professor Ward is a great guy. He responds back in a timely manner and if you don't understand something he takes the time to go over it with you without making you feel like a dummy. He does take a while to grade but other than that I have no other complaints about him. He is an easy grader as well. I would def take his class again.
I liked how his class incorporated a lot of group activities with your table mates. He is a pretty fair grader and gives a reasonable/average amount of work for an English class. He does like people to participate in lectures, but you can low key get away with not participating most of the time. Overall, his class was actually quite helpful!
Professor Ward is an amazing English teacher. Ima first time College student attending my first semester with him and even requested a second semester in Engl1302 with him which I will review about it later. He is a very fair person and grades things according to the criteria given. He gives chances to catch up its sick as long as you tell him.
Professor Ward was an excellent and accessible instructor, and very helpful and encouraging throughout the course. I'll be taking another class he teaches next semester, and very much look forward to it.
This was my first semester of my first year in college at the age of 54. He was amazing, understanding, very helpful. Always answers back immediately. Im very glad to have had him. Thanks Professor!
Professor Ward is a fantastic instructor. I took his English 1301 course online. He provides clear and concise course instructions and grading criteria on all assignments. I really enjoyed the peer review essay assignments and group discussions that are built into the course. I cannot recommend Professor Ward enough!
Professor Ward is a fantastic instructor. I took his English 1301 course online and enjoyed it so much that I registered for English 1302 with him as well. He provides clear and concise course instructions and grading criteria on all assignments. I cannot recommend Professor Ward enough!
He was a pretty good teacher, average difficulty. He's pretty easy with grading and won't be too harsh if you mess a few things up on your papers. If you do mess things up, he'll point these mistakes out and tell you exactly how to correct them.
The way he has assignments are just confusing. Example: The assignment says to copy and paste questions and answer them but then he sends an email on what your actually supposed to do and it is not what the assignment says to do. And he NEVER responded to my emails. I had questions about the essays and he never responded. Terrible way to teach.
Don't understand the bad reviews. Straight to the point on what is expected of you and clear instructions on assignments. Your grade is a reflection of what you put into your work. I would take again. It is a English class, essays are apart of that. Should not be a shock. Was quick to respond to emails when I had a question.
LOVED Professor Ward. Always gave good feedback, lots of discussions and papers but as long as you stay on top of your work you'll be fine. Very understanding and helpful.
He is one of the few professors that I actually like so far. He's caring, attentive, and interacts with the class well. He often gives words of encouragement and is fun to talk to. Work assigned is easy and sometimes hard, would definitely take him again.
Mr. Ward is a chill teacher honestly and doesn't grade harshly. Just make sure to read the syllabus everyday for your work and there will be readings but it's not bad at all. Also many assignments are to be worked with your group at your table! Essays are easy as well!
Prof. Ward's class was very general for an English class and not too difficult. In-class quizzes require written answers instead of multiple choice, there is a grade for attendance, and in almost every class you have an assignment to complete w/ your table based on the hw. Essays are on interesting topics and Prof. Ward grades very fairly overall.
Professor Michael Ward is fantastic; he assists you greatly with your assignments and is very approachable and entertaining with his students. I would take him again.
I personally enjoyed having professor Ward as my Engl 2322 teacher. He gives out a lot of work but they are fairly easy as long as you read the textbook.
Professor Ward is very funny he is a little awkward when giving lectures. Most of the assignments are group work which makes it easy. The Quizzes and modules can be slightly overwhelming but if you complete them one by one and don't procrastinate you will do great in his class!
Professor Ward was great. His syllabus gave all the information needed for the semester. There were three formal essays with the last one being a 6 page minimum. He provides all the resources necessary to help with them. I had plans to go out of town on final day with tickets bought a while before and he allowed arrangements for my final.
Professor ward is so sweet he's like a little grandpa. The work wasnt hard at all. He's super friendly and goes around and chats with his students. I really enjoyed this course because of him and luckily had super chatty/funny peers in that class.
Ward is a good professor.
If you just do the assigned readings, show up, and turn in your work you'll be fine. Tons of reading. Lots of group work. Lab tutoring helps your grade a lot if you aren't good with english.
Ward is a great teacher. Very nice and caring. And his class is not hard. Lots of group work.
Professor ward is a great professor, his work isn't hard, just need to keep up with reading and be ready to do group work a lot. About 3 essays to write but he does a lot of peer editing and reviewing.
Professor ward is an amazing professor. He is so sweet and very good person. His assignments were very easy and anytime you didn't have time to do an assignment he would give you some grace.
Professor Ward is a chill teacher. He is an older guy so sometimes it is hard to understand, but it wasn't too bad. Pretty lenient grader. There is three essays that are worth 60% of your grade so keep that in mind. Class is based in groups and you will have to work with others. Attendance does count. This is not a class you will be stressing about
