Very funny and cool guy...for an accounting professor. Exams are based almost all on lecture notes, so pay attention in class and you'll do good.
Excellent professor. Wrote the textbook and gives exams the same as the problems he assigns. Explains everything clearly.
reallyy weird. not very clear...i ended up doing well, but only because i studied on my own. notes did help though. textbook kinda helped, but went more in depth than what he tested us on. i would recommend going everyday to at least have the notes. multiple choice can get a little tricky. all in all just have to work hard in the class..and ask q's
If you go to class and take the notes you will do well on his tests. Very clear and helpful. Definitely take him if you can.
Also had him for ACC 301 and ACC 501. Great examples and really goes into the material. Take notes and do homework problems. Tests simple and he has a more lenient grading scale than most.
With Burnett (Robinson is gone), the best accounting prof. at UM --period.
This professor is the best accounting professor I have ever had: lectureing very clearly, writing on the board (no powerpoint) very neatly, and very funny guy. I feel so sorry that I left UM and cannot have his class anymore. But when I am reviewing for the CPA exam, I still can recall some sinarios that I had in his class.
ACC 211 and 212 Definitely take him if you can! Super nice guy, really funny and tests aren't hard at all (and you actually learn).
Had him for 211 and 212. Really funny, class is so boring though. Since you have to take it though, I'd hands down take him. He doesn't require hmwk assignments and is really lenient with the syllabus dates. Tests are easier than other professors.
Ok lecturer but class is boring (blame the material). Tests are reasonably difficult, mainly because of the huge disparity between the amount he prepares you and the amount you need to pass. Not too bad for accounting but expect to put in some serious legwork before the tests if you want an A.
great teacher. uses a bunch of voices to convey the material (its actually pretty funny). go to class, take notes, do the textbook homeworks and you will get an A
very helpful
Werner is a great teacher, I would definitely take him again! It helps to go to class and listen to his lessons because he covers everything that will be on the exams; he's pretty funny too. If you pay attention in class and study the night before, he makes it so that an A is very attainable.
Werner is a really FUNNY teacher!!! If you study the notes and go to class you will do well on the exams! He makes accounting fun :)
Presents Material clearly and effectively, very knowledgeable and really does do the funny voice (annoying @ times though) Go to class, take notes and u should get an A
he teaches from his own book, which isnt bad. he knows his stuff and teaches very well his grading isnt bad either..hes one of the better accounting proffs!
Great professor. He makes jokes in class all the time to keep people interested in what would otherwise be a boring subject. Tests are easy. He writes the book for the class, so expect problems similar to it...
Awesome teacher. Really nice guy and funny. He writes the book and basically tells you what is on the tests. Highly Recommended
FUNNY man! Took his night class and was never tempted to fall asleep. Extremely helpful and wants his students to do well. If you go to class you will not need to use the book other than for reference. No homework required (except Red Book and Learning Blocks).
One of the best accounting professors I've ever had. He's very funny which makes the class more enjoyable. Only 3 exams which are very straight forward. There is a lot of complex material in the course but he explains it all very well. Overall great professor!
Great guy, awesome teacher just go to class take notes pay attention and participate, make sure you ask questions so you get it all. there isn't anything in the book on the tests that he didn't go over in class first. Put in an honest effort on the projects and you'll get an easy 100%
werner was a pretty good teacher. he is a funny guy who keeps his class usually interesting. He goes off on tangents sometimes but he knows what he's talking about. willing to help anyone thru phone/email/meetings. his tests are sometimes very difficult but if you keep up in class you can get a good grade.
Two exams and a noncumulative final. He's pretty funny and keeps lectures interesting but the material can be tough. Lots of application rather than theory on the exams. He covers most of what will be on exams in class but you have to read for the multiple choice part of the exams. Doesn't take attendance but you need to go to class.
Im not sure why so many people think he was a good teacher. He give you information in class that conflicts and is different from the textbook. HE BASES EVERYTHING ON THE TESTS FROM THE NOTES. You can not even read the book and still get an A. He is very helpful though and will meet with you for hours if you need him to. A very nice guy.
He is horrible at explaining concepts. He tries to be funny but sometimes it makes things more confusing. He made the tests really hard, especially the multiple choice. One slip-up and your grade collapsed. He really should stick to ACC 211 & 212, not upper level courses.
this guy is the worst accounting teacher I ever had. I wonder why should they let such a unorganized and confusing professor teach ACC courses. He like to make jokes but his jokes are not even funny.Unfortunately, he teaches so many courses! and there are not many good ACC professors
This professor is super boring. I think he should do something else rather than teaching. He does not prepare for classes. He just gives whatever examples he has in mind. Especially, he does not follow the textbook content, he thinks he know everything.Plus, his exams do not match with what he teaches. This guy makes me want accounting useless !
For cost accounting he was good, not too sure about the 311 class. Really clear on what problems will be on the test. Have to go to class. Questions are from lecture. Honestly if you go to class and take good notes and end up with less than a B- you need to go to FSU
HE IS THE BEST!!!!
Great teacher, has real life experience.
He's a bit crazy when he pretends to be your angry future boss or his mother. But its all in good fun to help you understand the problems. I am generally a very good student, but for some reason I find his class very difficult. However, most semesters he is the only one who teaches 301 and 312, so you dont have any choice but to take him.
werners a pretty good guy but his lectures can get boring and confusing sometimes. his tests are usually pretty easy and are exactly what we learn in class, no tricks. just know how to do the examples from class and you'll get an easy A
Fantastic Professor. So into his job and wants his students to do great. Provides real life examples while maintaining a fun environment. His tests are based off of his class. If he doesn't teach it, good chance not on exam. He wants his students to do well and goes over many examples in class. Highly recommend!
Passionate teacher, really disorganized lectures though. For the tests, just know how to do the examples from class and reading the book helps for the multiple choice
Goes off on tangents a lot and jumps around all the time during lectures. The examples from class are usually the short responses on exams, and Multiple Choice come from the book. You don't need the book though, I never used it and got through course fine.
Professor Werner is my favorite ACC teacher! I also took ACC301 with him. His classes definitely aren't easy, but he makes them great because he is so funny and an outstanding professor. If you take good notes and study them, you'll be able to completely understand what the textbook explains, but you'll have to read the book too.
Good comedian. Not the best teacher. Pretty disorganized and moves pretty fast. Doesn't make time to meet with students or answer emails.
Poor professor and person. Never is clear or takes the time to meet with students/answer emails. Extremely condescending with bad attempts at humor not helping anything.
Took 312 with him also. He is a little disorganized and always late to class, but he teaches you EXACTLY what you need to know for the test and you don't really have to read the book. He likes to act out examples with voices and everything. Best teacher to take for these classes IMO
For his classes you absolutely must attend the lectures and the better notes you take the better you do on exams. He likes to tell personal stories but his lectures are not boring. Many people seem to realize that going to class is the way to do well his tests so it''s hard to get a really good grade if you don''t take good notes
He is very humorous. He doesn't cover every detail on the textbook but explain one big example from each chapter. If you understand that problem and you are able to do it yourself, the test is easy.
He was a terrible lecturer; he would ramble on about nothing. I genuinely feel like I learned nothing this semester. Take Perez if you can.
I was a bit nervous taking my first accounting course, since I'm bad in math. I absolutely love how he makes the class not boring and how he focuses on providing the class with real life problems. I liked his passion for Accounting and how he tries his best to easily explain everything. Make sure to take note of everything he does. Helps with tests
Do not take for 311 unless you have to. Very condescending and doesn't have office hours or answer emails. You'll probably get a B at worst with the curve, but he is very disorganized and it is not worth the stress. Have to read the book for MC questions on exams. Refused to take 312 with him
He just rambles on and on and teaches for maybe 10 minutes per class, so he only goes through things once and then moves on. The guy cares but he is a terrible professor. Don't take him unless you have to
Best Accounting professor ever in UM, extremely knowledge and want you to learn. I would definitely take him again
This professor has a great sense humor. Always tells jokes on the class. However, he is like Jon Snow to writing exams: Told us to focus on the certain materials while testing us on completely different stuff. Be careful if you wanna take his undergrad classes.
This professor literally teaches nothing. the class is all messed up, sometimes he even don't know what he is talking about, he would just convulse and make boring jokes that no one understands. He is a tough grader and review everything that is not on the exam. don't take him unless you have to.
Fantastic Professor. So into his job and wants his students to do great. Provides real life examples while maintaining a fun environment. He is the best accounting professor
He is a little bit disorganized but that is fine. He wrote what you need to know. And follow him you would be fine. Extremely knowledgeable and caring.
He loves to make weird voices and tell jokes and strange stories that you are not sure if they are actually ever going to end or are applicable in any way to what he is teaching. He genuinely wants you to learn though and his examples from class are the exact write out problems on the test, just make sure you read the book for conceptial questions.
Majority of class he is talking about something non related to accounting and goes off on a tangent about it for literally half the class. I learned nothing from this class. Never knew what was going to be on the exams. The last class before the final he tried to teach two chapters that were on the final in the last 10 minutes of class. awful
He's a little wacky, but if you look past the charade and think about the story he's trying to tell for the concept, he's a little genius. In class examples were literally on each exam. The last class before the exam, he tells you what you should touch up on from the textbook.
Werner is a good choice for ACC211. I have never taken accounting before. He's an odd guy but makes lectures interesting. His exams are tough. Study and ask questions in class, do homework, and you'll be fine.
He is probably one of the funniest professors I've ever had and so his lectures are about as engaging as accounting can be. Unfortunately, there is a HW assignment online every week which takes 2-3 hours or more. Tests are multiple choice, luckily, and there's two very easy projects. I think he really does his best with a very boring subject.
Prof. Werner cares for his students and goes above and beyond. His lectures are relevant and important to exams but tries to keep them light and uses lots of examples. Would recommend for sure, one of my favorite profs
Just show up to class and take notes, he will give you an A. A lot of people just don't go to this class b/c it's a core class for the business school, but you will get more out of it than you would think. He's a funny guy and wishes the best for all of his students.
Very confusing semester, there was great confusion with what was actually due and when to do it. He is a very smart person, however I wish he was more organized. If you take this class create/join a groupchat for the large project, it's impossible to do alone. Also study quite more than you think for the tests.
Professor Werner is a great guy! Although his class is almost all lecture and can be a little boring at times, his personality makes attending class fun. Due dates for assignments are sometimes unclear, but he usually only cares that you finish the assignment at some point, not necessarily by the due date. I would definitely take this class again!
Nice man, but make sure you aren't fooled by his kind and relaxed demeanor. This class can be somewhat difficult if you don't study properly as I did. Make sure you meet with him and discuss what is on his exams. They were 34 MC questions and somewhat tricky.
Professor Werner is a great guy and a straightforward professor. His class is very lecture heavy. The tests are easy as long as you pay attention and take notes. Overall, I would recommend this class to anyone looking for a good professor for Accounting.
Easily a top 3 professor I've had at UM for my entire 4 years. That being said his ACC311 class is not easy. He does not give you study guides rather checklists and gives no other forms of test prep other than questions you can find in the textbook. His tests are difficult no access to exams after you take them so you won't know what you got wrong
Professor Werner is such an amazing person. Although his course is very tough, he wants to see all his students succeed. He cares about his students and appreciates when students participate in his class lessons. His tests are extremely difficult, but you will pass the class if you try your best and put all your effort in.
Weirdest Professor I had, he acts out a lot and usually goes way off topic. One time, he was acting out his mom in a factory. I got lazy and didn't show up to class half we through, but just watched Tony Bell on Youtube and he explained everything clearly. Ended with an A+, so we chillin.
His lectures can be a bit boring, but he records all of them for you to review or to attend class virtually. He also allows you to have one page of notes during exams, and provides a checklist of the topics you need to know about. Copy all (applicable) calculative exercises and notes, and you will do fine. He is also nice and wants you to succeed.
Do not take him. His exams are all multiple choice and so confusing, I find myself struggling and not even learning or having to teach myself. He provides little to no help on how exams are structured, and he constantly goes on rants about topics that have nothing to do with the class. I actually enjoy accounting, yet this class is my lowest grade.
All exams are MCQ and are pretty confusing. He goes off topic and tries to teach but never actually teaches.
He's a great guy. He cares about us and slows down when the class doesn't understand it. He pushed back the hw and exam multiple times to make sure we really understood stuff. He also curved at the end.
Very nice guy but he goes off-topic all the time and tends to ramble pretty frequently. He seems like he knows what he's talking about, but he's so hard to follow sometimes and the test questions/answers are often misleading and confusing. Not a bad professor at all but I'd probably take somebody else if there are options
Nice guy, but gets off track every single class and not the best teacher. Also, good luck getting in touch with him outside of class it is basically impossible, will not answer an email to save his life.
He's great. If you go to class, pay attention to what he's saying, and take notes, you'll be fine. Doesn't go fast in his lectures and is very easy to follow. Does lots of in-class examples that help for tests. Tests are all MCQ, simple, straightforward. Lenient about deadlines. Very knowledgable and makes the class as interesting as it can be!
Go to class! He says pop quiz all the time for ACC 311 but they are beyond easy using your notes or he'll give you the answer. He curves like crazy if you do bad.
He's like your weird grandfather, but an expert in accounting. Also takes time in class to deeply address your questions, very nice, and funny. Loves to act out his lectures. Homework is easy and exams are multiple choice. Great guy overall.
Professor Werner is a funny guy. His lectures are super boring but the class, but he gives a lot of practice problems that are worked on in class. Tests are alright, if you study.
Overall, great lecturer who is engaging and you can tell likes accounting. However, he doesn't respond to emails or post office hours so he's impossible to reach outside of class. Won't help with any issues no matter how small and is a pain if you have any problems or questions regarding the class or the content. Wouldn't recommend
Funniest teacher ever...All MC exams...the goat
Rounds A- to an A. Class is boring, but if you pay attention and put in the minimal work and effort required you will be fine.
He doesn't let you use technology, he doesn't post his notes, and his tests are nothing like what were doing in class.
Worst class I've taken at um
This is an incredibly tough course. There is no homework or cybertext. Your grade is based on 3 exams and random attendance. Exams are all MCQ and he curves each exam and at the end of the course.
One of my favorite classes I've taken. Just need to study the homework and powerpoint to do well on the exams. He's passionate about the class, funny, and fair to students. Would take again!
This was the hardest accounting class I have taken at UM thus far. Exams are all MCQ and tend to be easier versions of the problems we do in class. Werner curves heavily, and besides the 3 exams theres no homework or cybertext for this course.
I have def had moments of wanting to leave class bc im falling asleep, but hes iconic. He is an amazing professor. He goes pretty slow, which can be annoying but is helpful for step by step instructions. Accounting is a detailed subject and he really puts in the time to make the lessons as understandable as possible for us. KING, take him.
