You will have to work significantly more for this class than any other teacher or course, but he is a VERY effective teacher and you WILL LEARN A LOT.

Professor Wissot really cares a lot about his students and will put in the time and effort to help you grow but he is very demanding and expects a lot from his students. This is not a class you can just scrape by in. It is a lot of work but you will also learn a lot.

Professor Wissot challenged me personally to achieve on a level never expected of me before. I loved/feared this class. Grading was beyond harsh, but I quickly learned how much he cares for each of his students. This class was a challenge and has literally changed my life. Prof. Wissot was intimidating day 1, but he did that to scare off slackers. 4 speeches, 1 exam & final, 1 speech analysis, & 1 long term paper (16 pgs per examples he showed). Minor reading but come to class prepared. He is always avail. to proof your speeches & is so helpful. Take Wissot but be ready to push yourself to work hard & learn from him.

I truly enjoyed attending Professor Wissot's classes. He was always available to talk after class (perfect for those really busy students) and he always responded to e-mails in a timely fashion. Charismatic and witty, Professor Wissot always tries to make class interesting and fun. You do not notice that two hours of class time have gone by.

Wissot is tough and can be very intimidating at times, but he genuinely care about your improvement in public speaking. If you are willing to put in the time (Ie. send him your speeches for a few rounds of revisions, show up to his review sessions and actively participate in class), he will reward you with a good grade and future academic support.

Professor Wissot is the best professor I've had at USC. As an ex-math major, I switched to Annenberg and felt most classes were easy and useless—until his. He teaches through practice. You'll be pushed and grow. It's an honor for Annenberg to have him, and I'd do anything to take another class with him.

Prof. Wissot's class blends theory and practice—readings on Roman rhetoric, case studies of modern speeches, and even vocal training from his wife. His detailed feedback on drafts sharpened my content and delivery, transforming my confidence in speaking for class, work, and beyond. If you are committed to investing in your future success, take it!

Professor Wissot is one of the best professors I've had at USC. He truly cares about his students and sets them up for success. We went on field trips to major companies and stadiums, which helped me land a summer internship. The class isn't too hard, but the material is extremely valuable and engaging. Highly recommend!

Professor Wissot was the most impactful professor I had at USC. I took his 489 and 375 classes concurrently and learned so many valuable skills, both professionally and personally. His courses challenge you, but if you are willing to embrace the challenge, you will walk away with a heightened level of professional accumen and self-confidence.

Professor Wissot goes the extra mile to help his students succeed in the professional world. During his Business Communications course, he selected guest speakers that aligned with the class's professional interests, bringing in experts from the film industry and the sports media field. His course is rigorous, but it will truly help you grow.

I learned so much about professional communication, career searching, and public speaking from him. Even tho he's intense, he cares. Definitely gave me insider knowledge that will benefit me in the future. Highly recommend this class, but you do have to put in the work.

This class was one of my most impressive accomplishments at USC. It;s public speaking class, but also heavily writing-based, and the exams are HARD. Professor Wissot works you like an employee but matches your effort. If you have the time, it's WORTH IT—be prepared to spend 10+ HOURS on each assignment. Wissot makes the class overly stressful.
