Lectures apply to real world classroom! Easy going!
Try's to teach too much at once, stays on one topic for a VERY LONG TIME, READ!
goes over material over and over, becomes very boring
Nice guy, a little boring, lecture is mostly an outline of the text.
waste of class, time, and money.
his black converse rule, his class sucks
Boring class, but not hard. One of the best psy profs I've had here though.

Lectures are helpful and well organized, but you must read. Tests are tricky.

not easy, hard prof. did not enjoy him at all, very boring, waste of time
tests are VERY tricky & he missed more classes than i did...
Nice guy, but don't be tricked..tests are VERY tricky!!
Good class, the type of course that is challenging in a good way
Easy if you understand the material. Very easy to understand if u go to class.
Nice Prof! Tests are easy if you read the book.Doesn't take attendance.goodclass

Doen't give a review and his test are hard
If you paid attention in class and skimmed the book, it was a piece of cake.
His lectures are extremely boring!
Easy if you go to class. Does not give out study guides b/c he doesnt believe in them. Very boring and will put you to sleep with monotone voice but, its an okay class to take if you need electives.
Not the most exciting guy, but really knows his stuff, and wants you to know yours. Take him if you want to actually apply what you learn.
good prof. skim book, go to most classes, have COMMON sense, great class. fun EC opportunities. interesting & helpful guy.
Had to re-take this class after having this guy. NO study guide, very boring, tough tests..dont take him!
Boring, Get notes off BB, skim book, go to class. not terribly hard, fair.
Excellent enthusiastic professor, and gifted in the art of teaching from his knowledge base. He incorporates a multitude of teaching styles, giving every type of learner the greatest chance for success. Sign up!
Don't need to go to class unless you want an A...moves very slowly, explains things well.

Tough class but very interesting. You can tell he really likes what he teaches!
Tough tests until you figure out his system. I learned a lot about test taking strategies.
He was ok, I didn't really like his style of teaching, but he wasn't the worst prof I've ever had.
Very boring but you learn good test taking strategies, you don't really have to go to class, just read the book. Not very fair, gives paper grades based on how well you're doing in the course. Don't take if you're not a psych major.
HARD hard tests no review so you can actually know what is going to be on his crazy tests, i think its impossible to get even a B ridiculous!
If you think his class is boring, try speaking up a lot.He is soo much more fun when the class is active, the kind of prof whochanges with different types of classes.Good, solid prof, very knowledgeable, very helpful if you need it.
Good teacher, very knowledgable. Work is easy to do. Explains things well and helpful. Class communication makes the class more interesting and not so boring.
A very good prof!!! Tries to make sure everyone understands....does a nice job explaining things. Goes in depth on possible implications for a studies results. Really makes you think. If you are going to be a teacher his class is a wonderful resource.
Boring class - all lecture. The whole class is based on 90 questions, split into 3 tests. If you're not good at multiple choice, you're screwed. NOT willing to compromise. Good luck with this guy.
Very easy. If you go to class and read the readings you will do fine on the tests. He puts all of his notes on line so during his lectures you can concentrate on what he is saying which made the class easier. He gives you a chance for extra credit.
Not a bad prof. I failed with yarlass, and took this guy and only came to class half the time and recieved an C. if your shooting for a C, take him, if higher take someone else
Prof. Wolfe is funny, nice, and knows what he is talking about. The class is designated a "Lab" class for a reason though - there are tons of studies you are expected to know, so if thats not your thing, find another class. READ THE BOOK!
Lecture class, kinda boring, when he does experiments they are fun. He postes notes on blackbord which is nice. He does not give out study guides, but is willig to help you go over what you should know. He let me take a test late one time.
an ok class. i had it at 8am so it was a little boring, but good. he's funny and grades fair. no homework, 3 test, and a paper. easy!
He is a very nice prof., he was more willing than any other prof. that I have had to work with you. He is just a really nice guy.
Very fun class. He does an excellent job of giving examples. Very enthusiastic about topics. The tests are kind of hard but if you read and listen to him they're ok. He really makes you interested in cognition. And in a smart kind of way he's goodlooking
If you've already enroleld in his class......SORRY. He's the worst teacher I've ever had. Not to mention he's a total ****. Be careful on the article summaries, they can totally screw you over!!
overall a good prof. no study guide for tests, so it is hard to know what to study. 3 multiple choice tests(final is not cumulative) and one 2 page paper(simple). if you want to learn a lot about different studies done about learning he is your man!
He's really unclear about what the objectives are. Felt like I was learning more about what he was interested in than the actual material presented in text. Easy points with the weekly article summaries, but the tests are the devil. Hot in a nerdy way tho
The class was awesome! Dr. Wolfe is an amazingly passionate teacher that cares about his field, classes and students. The lectures were stimulating and often left me in thought about the subject for extended periods.
He is a very good prof!! He cares about the students who care about the class. Those students who choose not to come to class are the ones that think the class is impossible. Come to class and study a little bit and you should do OK.
He was a very helpfull professor, always willing to answer any questions that you had and able to meet with you if his office hours didn't work. No study guides for the test, but if you read the book and go to class, you should be fine without one.
Really nice guy with a good sense of humor. Fair work load for the credits given. All powerpoint lectures are posted on blackboard. Paying attention to the experiments will help you on the tests.
I found this class to be a bit on the difficult side. The tests were a result of the experiments he discussed in class and for me they were a bit unclear. The 2 page paper and the overall work load is extremely easy but watch out for the tests.
he is a pretty nice guy, not very helpful and he is not willing to bend on anything. his test are much harder than the class would make them seem. i would avoid him if possible.
enjoyed this class very much!
Wolfe is a good guy but his tests are fairly hard. Not as easy as they would seem. The paper is super easy, I got an A and psychology isn't my strong point. The 50 minute class seemed to drag on forever. However, he's the easiest psyc. prof. I've had at GV.
This class is HARD. His tests are difficult but the papers do help your grade a lot. He cares about the students, making sure you understand the material. He can be kind of stuck up and believes he is right about everything. overall, he is ok
He's a bit boring until he starts talking about the stock market. Then he starts to get really excited and it's quite a show. If he was that enthusiastic all the time the class would be a lot more fun. Not the worst prof I've had.
Very intelligent and makes it very easy to understand material. Lectures are boring but a lot of test material is from his lectures. Read the book chapters as well. Article summaries are easy and tests aren't too bad.
Lectures were extremly boring, however you didn't have to read the book to get an A. A high majority of the test questions come from lecture. Notes came in the form of experiments performed in the past that are relevant to education theory. Topics were interesting, but the one-and-a-quarter hour long lectures were a drag. Overall, I would recommend
The material is very interesting and he presents it in a way that is interesting and relevant to how you will use it as a teacher. He isn't concerned with definitions and concepts, but experiments that bring about greater theories and effective teaching methods. Very useful class with a helpful and interesting professor. Take him!
horrible prof. he is out to get you and his test questions are so vague that there are too many possible answers to know the right one. i studied for hours for his last exam and did terrible... he sucks.
This class does require you to read and attend class. You need to take notes and study for his tests. But if you do that and the articles he assigns you should do fine.
This class was pretty difficult, I have to admit. You don't have much work to do, but read and report on article summaries. If you pay attention, study, and take good notes, you should do fine. Prof Wolf is somewhat monotone and many times boring. But he is a really nice guy and you can definately tell he is interested in the subject.
The class is hard but if you go to class and listen and take GOOD and CLEAR notes you should do fine. Make sure you dont slack on the article summaries because those can make or break your grade. Overall he is very nice and helpful. Exams are hard.. essays sometimes seemed as impossible!!
Hard class, excellent professor. I never missed a class, studied class notes and text for a full week before each exam. Got an A. If students did not do well, it was a lack of studying, not a lack of professor interest or clarity. You learn a lot about effective and ineffective ways of learning and studying which is a good thing to know in college!
This class was rough. When I picked the class, I was really excited about it, but I thought that he was a little dry. It was hard to pay attention during lectures.
His classes are nothing but lectures. I always daydreamed in class. Hard to pay attention. Only three exams, so do the articles or else you're doomed! He will help you if you're confused though. Will NEVER take another class w/this prof again!
He is always willing to answer questions. He assigns response papers (only 3/4 of a page) to experiments, which helped my grade a lot. His tests are EXTREMELY wordy and difficult. In order to do well, you need to go to class, take notes, read the text, and do the response papers. I learned a lot, though.
Great course and good prof. He knows a ton about psychology, which can sometimes leave your head spinning a bit. The only assignments you do for the course are 3/4 page assignments on psych. experiments. Test are difficult because you never know exactly what will be covered, so you'll need to make sure you read, attend class do assignments.
this teacher sucked, all we did all semester was go over pointless experiments and didn't even apply them to the larger world
You need to go to class to do well. The majority of his test are from lecture. If you don't go to lecture, it's going to be really hard to pass the class. Class was interesting and he was a pretty nice guy. Do the summaries it'll help your grade.
You have to attend, lectures and slides are needed to pass. It's not a hard class, and he makes it really fun considering how dry the topics can become. The summaries will really help your grade and are really easy.
Great prof, very straight forward. Grade based on 3 exams and 1 paper. You need to attend every class. His tests are mostly lecture based and you will need to do the reading outside of class. Make sure you read the textbook knowing he will ask concept type questions. I did fine.
Good class and a lot of great discussion. Make sure to come to class. Research findings are shared that you are tested over and that are not in the book. Exams are kind of difficult if you don't come to class. I highly recommend doing the questions to review every week.
Go to class, pay attention and read the book.
I took this class last semester. I agree with most people when they say that you should attend class, but it is DEFINITELY not necessary. Do the summaries for the weeks and you will do fine. I probably attended class 1/3 of the semester and read the first two chapters of the book and I got a B. I don't recommend him.
i have never got below a b+ in college and I'm most likely going to get a C- or D+ . hard prof. boring lectures. GO TO CLASS
one of the worst profs at gv. if you can take someone else for 325 i would advise you to do so. His lectures are very dry and he goes off on tangents. Tests are tricky and he admits to it on the very first day. DONT TAKE
Clear and detailed. Great guy.
Class was boring. Read articles and discussed them. Questions were due by Saturday morning via email, since it was the weekend I always forgot and missed about 30 points b/c of it. Graded easy on midterm but hard on oral presentations...don't get it. He was occasionally funny, which helped. No textbook = awesome.
Attendance wasn't mandatory and lectures could be dry, so going to class can be a challenge, especially early in the morning. He's a good guy; his class is a little tough, but you'll learn, so right on.
Worst prof I've had at GVSU. He's a vey nice guy who IS knowledgeable...but he is TERRIBLE at teaching. Goes off on tangents, rambles about nothing, has impossible/tricky tests, has very dry and boring lectures, etc. His tests have nothing to do with anything that you learn in class or from the book. I had a 4.0 before his class...DON'T TAKE!
very intelligent guy and very funny, but class can be very boring and test are extremely hard!
He tries to be a helpful, informative and 'fun' teacher, but the results are opposite. Most people do take notes in his class, but the majority of the class does not do well. His lectures are dry and although sometimes witty, cover things that are NOT most important in the book. His exams are very tricky!
test very hard, very nice guy but the stuff he goes over in class is nothing like what is on his tests
difficult tests
Hate this class...his tests are almost impossible to pass. Going to class helps to follow along with what you're learning, but the material on the tests are very tricky..
Extremly hard class. PSY101 in general is the most failed class at GV (said an advisor)... so if you are looking to take a PSY course try not to get this professor. He has been teaching higher level psych courses the past 20 years, and this is the first semester he taught intro to psych. Therefore his exams were hard, have to read entire textbook.
As long as you do what is expected of you, you will do fine. Yes, you do need to read the textbook outside of class, but as long as you take notes and pay attention, you will do well on tests. Participate! It makes it more fun. He makes sure you understand, and brings up very interesting subjects. he's a GREAT professor!
Dr. Wolfe is tough, but he is fair and if you pay attention, go to class, and review the material and textbook regularly it will all pay off. Most importantly, you will KNOW the material, and the stuff he's teaching is VERY interesting (even in you're not planning on going into psychology). I highly recommend this teacher. Great class, awesome prof
Very good professor. Took him for the capstone class. No textbook, but about 3-5 articles to be read each week. Each article also needed 2 questions/comments pertaining to the article to be turned in on Mondays. Discussion based classes over readings. A rather involved presentation with paper to follow. 1 exam over readings, and no formal final :)
His tests were unbelievably hard! HE asked questions from some miniscule sentence on a test that contained three or four textbook chapters. He only covered what he wanted to in class and the rest you had to guess what was important enough to write down in your notes while reading the book and hope you wrote down the right thing. He curved all exams
He was a very nice person and I really enjoyed the discussion based class. The tests were all based off of lecture notes, I actually stopped reading the textbook halfway through and didn't have any difficulty. His tests were very very tricky because of multiple multiple choice as opposed to content.
I have attended every class and I must say he is a very good professor. He explains things is good detail but his tests are nearly impossible to pass. The lectures are interesting but confusing sometimes. Just be sure to take good notes and study A LOT.
He is very helpful, but the exams are very very hard to pass. All of class all he talks about is experiments, he doesnt ever talk about the book, but expects you to read every chapter. He rambles a lot and gets off topic
I really liked this professor. He was always very nice and energetic about the lecture. He mainly talks about experiments, but it is helpful to read each chapter. The exams are tough, but definitely manageable if you study - especially the lecture notes. There is one quiz per week, but he doesn't announce which day it is on.
He is a very good professor, he loves what he teaches and it shows. I have heard the tests are hard, my advice is to read the book and take the little quizzes after each section. Other than that just pay attention in class and take notes!
makes you read he the entire book and doesn't talk about it. He's useless on helping you do well on test. Very boring class the book sucks to read. Notes are useless for test cause he says 85% of the test is from the book which he hasn't covered in class.
He is a very good professor and he makes class very enjoyable. However, the exams are basically impossible (at least they are for me). All of the questions on the exams are based off the book. He gives weekly quizzes and as long as you put in somewhat of an effort you'll get full credit. He also doesn't provide any type of study guide which sucks.
He was a nice professor, he knows his stuff. Expects you to know everything read in the book, tests are based on what you read in the book. Some examples are used from lectures on exam. Very difficult class to pass or get a good grade in
Forsure the hardest class I've taken. He's very knowledgable but extremely awkward. He expects you to read a 40 page chapter before every first class of the week. Do it because it'll help a lot. Don't read word for word in the text or you'll waste your time. Lectures are key in his exams. Stay on top of things. The essays online are EASY!
I did not like this class at all. There was too much reading, and he didn't really go over any of the reading.
GREAT guy. TERRIBLE teaching skills. TERRIBLE lesson planning. Uploads the WEAKEST lecture notes you will ever encounter. Class tends to dissolve into people talking about themselves. Rather than material relevant to exams. Had the most expensive textbook of all my classes BUT DIDNT RESERVE COPY AT LIBRARY?! Stop Danger Turn Back Avoid If Possible
He is not good at teaching powerpoints in lecture were never fully posted to study from. no review sheets or review sessions before exams. Exams are super tough you are expected to read the whole book and take it. Also have to write a few papers too.
the worst prof I've ever had at GV. powerpoint notes were never posted on time but told us they were. tests were extremely difficult and he told us there were multiple correct answers but we had to pick the best one. He doesnt put grades into grade boo until days after semester ends so its a slap in the face. having to retake bc of him!! don' take!
Overall I thought the class was interesting. Prof Wolfe is an interesting and funny professor but tests are hard. Reading the textbook is essential to success.
Professor Wolfe's class is generally easy. 3 exams, one paper, and 2 short assignments. He generally gives full credit if you do the assignments. Most exam questions come from material talked about in class (not in book) so if you want a good grade you have to come to class. Plus he gives random 5 easy point worksheets about once a week)
I loved this professors take on things. Does not do boring lectures. In class goes through experiments done and then talks about what to take away from it. Does have pop quizzes but is an easy grader on them as long as you show you know some things from class. A few tests that are pretty hard but the rest of the class assignments are easy As.
Super easy class if you do the work. He does expect you to put more time in reading-wise than some other classes, but as long as you do it should be an easy A. He does not put up with any excuses, but is a very approachable and friendly guy outside of class. If you don't understand something he is more than willing to help you outside of class.
Knowledgeable professor. The exams are hard and very specific at times. I liked that there were essay questions but be ready to remember the names of each study discussed and their methods , results, and conclusions. So basically everything you talk about.
Dr. Wolfe is himself. He is funny and friendly and loves teaching. He learns everyone's names and works hard to make class different each day. Overall, I would say this is a very good class and would definitely suggest taking it.
At first, this class seemed to be interesting and pretty easy. However, after the first exam, you are screwed unless you are really good and psychology. His lectures are okay, but the exams are a lot harder than to be expected and there is a lot of reading! I would recommend a study group and do well in any other assignments.
He is a good professor and loves what he teachers. I wish I would have studied more for this class. He lectures in a way that is easy to understand. He doesn't have very much homework though, so that's nice. I wish he would've given are tests back, but he only lets you come look at them during his office hours.
Prof. Wolfe is a sold choice for Psych 101. He is a good professor and is very knowledgeable. Be prepared to do lots of reading and take lots of notes. The tests are tough, and sometimes it's hard to say what's going to be on them. He has pop quizzes once a week. They are just for credit and basically boost your grade if you show up to class.
Read the textbook before lectures. Power points are bare and tests are very hard. Not many assignments, only 4 tests and 4 short essays.
MAKE SURE TO READ THE BOOK!! Tests are a mix of lecture material and textbook info (not discussed in class). Weekly pop quizzes are given, but you'll get 5/5 as long as you turn something in. Participate in experiments as early as possible to get them out of the way.
Read the book!!!! There are 3 tests and a final during the semester. The tests have a lot of information from the book and you'll only get a good grade if you read! He has pop quizzes but they're for completion, so just show up to class. I would suggest getting help right away; i.e. tutoring. If you get stuck with him you'll be fine, just read!!!!
make sure you read the book!!! I got a D on the first exam because I only studied my lecture notes. His tests are very hard and textbook heavy but if you read the book throughout the course you can definitely pass. Also finish all the experiments as early as possible!!
Professor Wolfe is an AMAZING professor!! Would definitely take this course again! He always makes lecture interesting and tries to make you laugh. Truly a genuine guy that is willing to help if you read the book and put in effort. Participate in class and youll have a great experience!
Great professor! Makes classes very interesting and applicable. I learned how to learn from this class. I took this class 2 years ago and I still use all the studying and note taking techniques he teaches. Dr. Wolfe backs everything he teaches with research and does a great job introducing students to real practical psychology. Again great prof!!
I always looked forward to coming to class and his lectures were very interesting. As he says in class just make sure you're reading the book if you want to do well in the class. Other than reading there's not much out of class work and he curves most of the exams.
He is a great professor.
This class is 90% lectures, but I find them very interesting because the way Wolfe presents the content. He will always bring up the textbook, even though there's very few test questions from the book. If you miss a lecture, get notes, because writing lecture notes down is how you'll do good on tests. He also assigns some readings and papers.
He always makes lecture so interesting-very discussion based. Attendance is not mandatory but he does give random quizzes that you get credit just for being there. You have to read to textbook for exams but it is not difficult at all. Tests are usually not that difficult. He genuinely cares about his students' learning!
I had Professor Wolfe for PSY101 and overall, it was a good class. There are 4 exams including the final and they were all pretty difficult! If you dont read the textbook, you wont get a good grade on the exams. Not a bad thing, you just definitely need to study a fair amount in this class. Overall, I would take him again!
He wont teach everything for exam purposes you have to teach yourself. Hes also liberal and when the political position of your professor is obvious it takes away from the class. Wed Talk about always using scientific reasoning except when it comes to stereotype threat which I think is designed to indoctrinate students liberally. Overall okay.
Class focused on scientific studies not actual concepts. I took this class in high school and it was super interesting but this course was the opposite. Overall it was fairly easy if you read the book but if you want to learn about concepts and want to be interested in the material during lecture DO NOT take this prof.
As a psych major, I was super excited to take this class but it was honestly the hardest one I had my first semester. We had a pop quiz every single week which counted as attendance, and the exams were very hard even if you read the book. I highly do NOT recommend. He will make you hate psychology
Very smart guy. Makes learning easy and is very good at teaching. Highly recommend.
I took psychology in high school adn this was still a class worth taking. I liked him and it wasn't too hard. Plus I think the class is jsut interesting even if you aren't a psych major.
He is a great professor, we read a couple of academic papers a week which is better than having to purchase textbooks.
You had to read 2-3 research articles each week and give three detailed questions for each article. Be ready to attend class because it is a discussion-based course and it is worth 150 points! You have one midterm exam to which he gives the exact questions that are on the exam, one group presentation, and a final paper. Definitely an easy A!
His lectures aren't interesting nor uninteresting. He's a nice guy and the tests were open note but they were still somehow difficult.
Professor Wolfe was my favorite professor this semester. He is highly motivated to teach the content, is very open to student's opinions, and wants you to succeed. If you have the chance to take this class I highly recommend you learn so much useful learning tactics and the class is overall very enjoyable.
Professor Wolfe is really intelligent and is great at teaching the material. Attendance isn't required but it is crucial for learning as notes aren't posted all at once. He is by no means boring and one of the first professors where I have paid attention the entire class period for the entire semester. Only downside is, the tests are tricky.
Great professor! Long lectures, but he is sure to keep them interesting. His tests were difficult, but he is always willing to help out. He does not takw attendance but will give the exact answers to essay questions on exams during in class discussion. Very discussion based, but will not call on you if you don't have your hand raised.
This class is pretty much just learning about different research studies. Professor Wolfe gives great explanations but the lectures are so boring and hard to pay attention to. There are weekly responses due that he grades really easily on. The tests aren't too bad, all of the information comes from lectures so you just need to take good notes.
The exams/tests are ROUGH. There are relatively easy essay questions, but the multiple choice is so confusing. His lectures are long but very interesting. PARTICIPATE IN CLASS! He looks for active responses and he is funny so give him feedback when he asks. Overall, an interesting course but the exams were discouraging and impossible.
A good professor, but the overall inconsistency with exam styles and his approach to how he teaches the material made it difficult to do well in his class.
Professor Wolfe makes the lectures engaging, but the exams can be rough. Thankfully, unstuck ai's practice questions and personalized study plans really helped me prepare. Participate in class discussions - he looks for active responses. Overall, an interesting course if you put in the work.
For a capstone class, this wasn't too bad. Weekly readings and writing assignments, but those weren't awful. The main thing to focus on is the midterm (which he gives the exact questions to beforehand), the group presentation, and final paper. Get a head start on these, because researching can take a long time.
Funny, but I'd avoid his capstone if you don't want annoying and frustrating stress in your life. First part of class is easy, but the end is jam packed. He asks you to complete a written exam, group research presentation, and paper all within the last month of the semester. Hard to prepare early because everything is based on a group project.
