Excellent prof. He has clear examples and is very helpful with questions. Also has an awesome sense of humour and keeps things interesting. You won't fall asleep. Might think hes a little odd though.. in a good way.
Great sense of humor, keeps things interesting and moving. Know your lecture notes well for his tests more so than the txtbk. Adds in personal anecdotes that make things interesting. Would definitely recommend.
Great class! I recommend it to anyone. I would definitely try to take one of his classes if at all possible! He adds in from his own experiences and it makes his lectures very interesting. He is one of the best lecturers I've ever heard!
Great class and Professor. I try to get into his clases because of his sense of humor. Funny proff and very clear. Makes any pyschology class interesting, and fun to be in. Highly recomended and very knowledgable. YOu will laugh in his lectures and learn lots......
It's wonderful to see a prof who is one of the leading names in the subject field (especially at such a young age)! Dr. Woodworth is very knowledgable and funny! Plus, the fact that Michael is smokin' makes it really easy to focus!
yup he is definately great...dont try to argue with him though he is never wrong :) and papers/// he is a pretty average marker, but tests are fair, and reading is interesting and managable. favorite class, kept me awake even though it was 830am!!!
Great prof. He was interesting, helpful & direct. His notes are detailed and you really dont even have to read the assigned reading from the text because most of his test questions are from the notes. The notes he posts on WebCT are not the full lecture slides and he creates questions or makes fill in the blanks which are really helpful for tests.
He's awesome!!!! And baby is he evver hot!! Yummy. So even if he wasn't a great proff, which he is, he provides fantastic scenery. The guy is crazy, adorable and one of the nest in his field. I highly recommend taking any course you can with this guy. Even statistics will seem interesting with him teaching it. Ladies, enjoy the view!
Woodworth makes learning fun and I love going to his class. I hope I get him for more classes, he really makes it interesting no matter what the subject is and he encourages you just because of how much he loves what he's talking about.Keep it up
Best prof ever! I looked forward to going to his classes and have never had a more entertaining and interesting prof. He's intelligent and hilarious. I highly recommend this prof. Fair marker.
One of the most interesting classes I have ever taken. Professor Woodworth knows his subject, he has great stories and is pretty funny too! He is quite nice to look at as well! ;) The course is not easy but it is definately worth taking. I would recommend taking one of his classes.
Okay, so he's not too hard on the eyes..big deal. I fail to see what all the fuss is about. His class did not meet my expectations in terms of information or practical application for the future. Very mediocre...just like his jokes.

INCREDIBLY vacuous class. If you have a simple mind and like "cool crime stuff", you'll enjoy it. The more intelligent you are, the more it will annoy you. HOWEVER, extremely easy. Want easy grade or CSI/Oprah/Dr. Phil are your favorite because you think they're "reel smart",this is for you. Want to learn something of value? Look elsewhere.
Marking is very frustrating and very annoying, esp if you are a good student. He only does multiple choice tests (which I found entirely abitrary).. I studied very hard, and was sure I knew most of the material, but did terribly in this class. It is fun to attend.. a lot of laughs.. but, if you want want your hard work to pay off.. look elsewhere!
I completely agree with the previous 2 statements
Good proff, makes the class fun. Study large and small details for the exams. His exams are FAIR, if you did poorly, it is most likely your own fault. If you do like forensics already it will give insight into the field.
I really cant say how his teaching style is at all because I havent actually had a class with him yet. At least not a full one, but oh my gosh if his classes are like today, this year is going to be the best. He came in with pumped up music on, in a wig with a twirly light scepter like you would get at a fair, and then sang " I teach 355 cause I li
Psychopathy class was hardcore, you had to read, and you had to go to class and pay attention. This is not the usual Mike style, however, we knew in advance that our final was about 50% of the total grade (final turned out to be one question long). Take it if you can, well worth the time.
awesome teacher. awesome class
Dr. Woodworth is awesome. VERY funny, helpful, and smart. Tells lots of jokes and adds humor to his powerpoint notes to keep the mood light. He's the kind of guy you want to be friends with.
Michael is a great prof, no complaints - very helpful & approachable. Nice light courseload & reasonable exams & he integrates lots of research into it which makes lecture interesting. I send many invisible hearts out to him!
BEST PROFF EVER! Woodsworth's forensic class is soo interesting and he keeps you very entertained with funny comments and interesting stories. I would defiently take this class if your interested in psychology and crime. I would even take for an elective, not a bad class, and is a very fair marker. You will breeze thru final if u study! :D
My favorite prof ever. He keeps the class engaged and entertained no matter what the subject (which is especially good for Forensics, some topics can be depressing). Makes most of the mark based on short MC exams. Questions can be challenging, and if he gets excited or spends much time explaining a concept it'll prob be on exams :) ENJOY!
Great prof. Attend class, take good notes and you have an A.
He is crazy!! I love him. So funny.
I loved forensic psyc!! It's really interesting, and he makes it really fun. You don't even need the textbook! His exams are definitely fair and if you come to class he'll give you a hints about the test. I would send 1000 invisible hearts to him!
Hot. So. Freaking. Hot. That aside, he is an amazing professor who really cares about the subject matter. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and very entertaining. He has an abundance of research behind him. You won?t want to miss his classes. One of UBC?s finest. Did I mention he is very, very cute? You can?t help but like him.
Hot! And so funny! His class is amazing! Its so interesting! And pretty easy. He is the best!! Love him!
Fabulous prof. Keeps his lectures entertaining, very witty and interacts with students well. Loved Pico, the Mexican, dancing marionette. Mid term and exam entirely MC, know his slides (with extras filled in from class) and you're golden
Excellent lectures. Easy midterms if you go to class. And really enjoyable.
SEXY BEAST. Only objection is that you might get distracted by his hotness and lose track of your notes
awesome prof. Would definitely recommend taking ANY of his classes
Hilarious, engaging, clear and overall great. Best Psych teacher I've had at this university
1) AMAZING class. He incorporates lots of current cases to keep it relevant and interesting 2) GO TO CLASS! His midterms are heavily if not ALL based on lectures. The text books is great for supplemental learning and review.
Amazing. If I was having a bad day and didn't feel like going to class, I would make sure to go to his class anyways because it always cheered me up. Hes so entertaining. Tests are definitely fair, focus on the lectures. GO TO CLASS, you won't regret it!!! Interesting topic too. I would recommend him 100%!
Easily the best professor at UBCO - Funny, entertaining and a very nice guy. Take Forensic Psych with him if you can, you won't regret it!
As everyone else has already said, he's awesome. Funny, clear, interesting, all that good stuff. Not the greatest taste in music though lol
Very interesting and captivating teacher, never a dull moment and won't fall asleep.
One of the best professors at UBCO. Super engaging lectures, very helpful, and fair tests. Definitely would recommend this class to anyone! Need to actually go to the lectures but it's always a good time :)
such a fun class!! exam was pretty hard...must attend class
FANTASTIC PROFESSOR!! He is very knowledgeable of the material, outgoing and easy to communicate with. He makes every lecture worth going to. Very funny and did I mention HOT? The material covered in class is interesting and very important! Be sure to go to his lectures. Exams were a bit hard... but you just gotta study and you"ll do great :)
Smart, funny, nice prof. Lectures went by quick, material was interesting, and his exams were fairly easy/predictable. He barely uses the textbook and when he does he tells you exactly which pages to read. Good class and an easy class to do well in as long as you put in minimal effort. Definitely worth taking
Mike's the type of prof that makes you fall in love with the course, the field of psychology, and him all at once. His class was a breeze, and it's possible to get an A+ in it as long as you attend all lectures. I can't wait to take another one of his courses!
Dr. Woodworth is an amazing and knowledgeable guy. This NCRMD class was an amazing experience, it was actually worth the $500. I literally learned to debate like a lawyer on this topic. Grade is made up of one paper, one debate on a criminal case, participation/attendance, and a written final exam on last day of classes. AMAZING course.
Michael is very funny, and is a very enjoyable professor. However, his slides are messy and his tests are quite difficult. His powerpoints do not make a lot of sense, which makes studying for his exams much more difficult than it should be. I would've done a lot better if his slides were more concise and in order.
Michael is hilarious and is really respected by students. His exams are difficult and I found it hard to do well in this course. His powerpoints are disorganized which makes studying for the exam more difficult than it should be. I don't like that his exams are so heavily weighted. I wish we had an assignment or two so the final wasn't worth 60%.
I LOVE having a final worth 60 (MT 40), means less work in the long run. I don't think I had to actually be at this class to do well, but lectures were so fun he made 3 hours pretty easy to sit through. Exams were all M/C, pretty quick and easy. Some of the questions were trickier than you'd expect, compared to the straightforward way he teaches.
You must take notes on everything he says, as his powerpoints aren't great to study from. Once you learn how he tests the class is easy to study for. He is an amazing lecturer and you can tell he is very passionate about the topic. Gives great feedback on the paper if you choose to write it
Dr. Woodworth is an amazing prof and is so passionate about the topic. He is very outgoing and makes the 3 hour lectures go by so quick. He is happy to help clarify concepts over email and the phone. His tests are easy as long as you actually study, he also asks questions from the text that weren't said in lecture.
Best prof at UBCO! Hilarious, caring, easily accessible outside of class, makes you feel comfortable, always bringing in relevant & brand new studies & examples.. i could go on. what a fantastic prof. Class is midterm: 40% final: 60% with optional paper worth 25% which would make final only 35%. love everything about this class & Michael as a prof!
Michael is an amazing lecturer and manages to make a 3 hour lecture pretty enjoyable. He's hilarious and extremely knowledgable in his field - he has so much experience. If you don't like multiple choice tests you will not do well in this class!! 2 tests each 60 multiple choice, one worth 40% the other 60%. Tests were so hard and confusing
Dr. Woodworth is beyond funny! However, BEWARE. He goes off topic a lot with his stories and jokes, and you literally have to make sense of his slides yourself. His lecture is unorganized, his slides are unorganized, and I felt that I had to teach the material to myself. There is no textbook- two assigned articles every week. Optional paper option!
Didn't like Dr. Woodworth too much, since he went off topic a lot with his slides. Midterm was 40% and final was worth 60% with an option of writing a paper to make the final worth a bit less. His lecture slides are SO disorganized and it's hard to know what to know for the exams. Unless you're passionate about forensic psych, I don't recommend him
Woodworth is a decent lecturer. he does go on a lot of tangents but overall he can present the course material clearly because he teaches pretty slowly. His tests are super confusing though! I feel like he is intentionally trying to trick students to pick the wrong answer by making very similar multiple-choice options. The wording is also v bizarre
I would quite literally die for this man. His 3-hour lectures are always my favorite time of the week, and Woodworth is one of the most interesting people I've ever had the good fortune of meeting.
Best prof I've had in my entire degree. He makes you want to attend 3 hour evening lectures and not skip because they're always great. Make sure you attend to make sense of his slides (they won't make sense if you skip so don't), if you like multiple choice exams you'll be fine, they're not hard at all if you study thoroughly.
Best professor I've had in the 3 years I've been at UBCO. Amazing lectures and Dr. Woodworth is hilarious. I never wanted to miss a class, I was sad when the class would end! I've taken two classes with him and would take any class he taught. I'm sad the class is over :(
One of the best profs at UBCO! Very funny and interactive classes, everyone loves to show up! You can tell he has lots of experience in the field and always brings in other professionals for guest lectures. AMAZING!!!
He's good insofar as you like a funny professor who teaches North American-focused materials. However, if you've already taken 355/356, the course may not give much new information. I honestly learnt more from doing the research for my assignments than I did from his lectures (which in itself I guess is useful).
Very compassionate and understanding of students situations
Prof. Woodworth has been entertaining in his videos at times but it starts to go overboard when the first 5 minutes of a recording have nothing do to with the class. His slides are unorganized and the course/syllabus has no learning outcomes, making it extremely hard to study. His M/C questions are confusing and have a lot of red herrings.
Was not a fan of having a final worth 60 percent of my grade. Powerpoint lectures were so unorganized and hard to follow. Lectures were not the best, I wouldn't really recommend this class to anyone, since I didn't learn much. The odd reading assignment was interesting. Seems like a chill guy but not a very good prof.
Due to covid this prof is a real gem. He is so entertaining and makes class hilarious and fun. The exams were tough and I think I would have done better if some assignments were given besides just having exam grades. However, I would take his class again just because I had so much fun learning the material. His lectures make me happy!!
If Michael Scott was a professor, he would be Dr. Woodworth. That pretty much sums him up.
If you're interested in the field of forensic psychology, this class is a great place to start. The class grade comprised of a midterm (40%) & a final (60%) with the option of writing a paper to reduce the weight of the final. Lectures are a bit all over the place but not as bad as other people have made it seem. There's SONA, too. Excited for 356!
Dr. Woodworth is a very funny guy, but also really, really smart. He has a tendency to go off on tangents. Slides have minimal (if any) writing, so you definitely need to listen to the lectures. Not many readings which is nice! The grading was split 40-60 for the midterm & final, which can be a good or bad thing, depending how you find the tests.
best prof ever! hilarious and fair exams
I feel like if these classes weren't online he'd be a 5/5 for sure. It's a bit different online though. He likes to be funny and silly and do skits, which would be super fun in class, but since it's online, it just makes already long day and long classes longer. Instead of him using his time to have fun, he's using mine, and I'm too busy for that.
I appreciate Dr. Woolworths antics being online. Taking 6 courses this semester its refreshing to be able to watch a lecture, be entertained and laugh a bit too. His weekly live class is great and something I look forward too!!
One of the best profs I've had at UBCO. Makes a 3-hour lecture enjoyable and engaging. 1 MT and 1 final, making it a nice change of pace from other classes that are assignment heavy. Tests only on his slides and they are very straightforward questions that adequately test your knowledge on the subject matter. Would recommend him very much!
best taste in music. lectures not very concise so reading the textbook is helpful. he shows great enthusiasm for the subject he teaches and provides interesting examples!
Dr. Woodworth is easily the most eccentric prof I've ever had and I'd love to take a class of his again. He's very funny and his lectures are very engaging. I found his notes pretty difficult to follow so it's important to listen to the context behind them in class. Also, grades rely on exams so F if you have test anxiety.
Hands down best prof I've ever had. Tip: DO THE OPTIONAL ESSAY!
I wasn't a fan of the 40/60 divisions of grades but overall he made 3 hours go by really fast and made the material really interesting. Also helps that he's a funny/strange guy but I think that is needed in forensics. Getting involved in discussions and asking questions will go a long way and don't skip class!
Michael is extremely energetic and passionate about psychology. His lectures come across as somewhat unorganized but that is his style. If you like very clear and structured assignments/courses, this is not that. Lectures were basically class discussions. This class (480A-Criminal Minds) requires a presentation and a written assignment.
I have also taken both PSYO 355 and PSYO 356 from Dr. Woodworth but would say that PSYO 480A was my favourite of the three! Dr. Woodworth expects critical thinking rather than memorization of content which makes the learning process fun. He is also open-minded and invites critical thinking and debate. A great course for anyone interested in ethics!
When you take a class with Dr. Woodworth...its not just a class, its an experiece. He is freakin hilarious and so smart. He's honestly someone I wish I could just hangout with a pick his brain. He will have you laughing every class. I looked forward to every Monday! Only two exams if you don't do optional paper but just study and there's no problem
He did a real disservice honestly. Instead of detailed case studies, we got lots of superficial ones lacking depth, he just regurgitated news headlines. With no textbook, unclear readings, & a chaotic/unserious/unorganized lecture style (rambling to off-topic discussion), this class was disappointing. Overall, missed opportunity & wasted potential.
Chaotic and fun, but you also learn quite a lot. I wouldn't recommend him to people who can't keep up with his energy though.
Dr. Woodworth spent most classes rambling with a touch of content. No textbook, slides were extremely unserious and lacked important information. Considering we talked about very grim cases, he managed to slip memes into the same sentence. Not super professional, described news headlines instead of actual psychology.
40% of grade is midterm, 60% is final. I don't think I learned anything. Not a hard class but you're set up to fail. 200+ slides per class and they only have memes and headlines on them so it is difficult to study if you didn't write down every word said in class.
Dr. Woodworth is one of the best psych profs at UBCO! His passion really shows in how he presents the material. I don't get why people say his exams are harsh—if you study, they're fair. I got A+ on both midterms and the final in 355, and an A+ in 356 midterm too. Great prof, super engaging and knowledgeable!
Without course outcomes, it was hard to gauge or find weak points in our knowledge of the principles he was trying to teach. Do not take this course if you want a gpa boost. Great guy, clearly passionate about his subject.
While Dr. Woodworth's class requires attendance to succeed (in my opinion, his slides are disorganized and unclear meme's as others said so you have to be there to understand what they mean) he does care about his students success and adjusts things as necessary to make it more manageable. If you pay even half attention in class, study, you'll pass
Dr. Woodworth just makes your morning every class. He's always so many things besides teaching, but it makes you want to be there at 8am on a Monday. The course wasn't very information heavy. Lots of cases, but they were all interesting and easy to learn about.
MY GOAT, amazing prof. Hilarious dude. Makes a massive effort to be engaging to students, even if at 8 am. My only complaint about the course is that the midterm was worth 40% and the final 60%, which ended up screwing my grade. Definitely not a GPA booster, but Prof Woodworth made it so worth it. Incredibly passionate and cares about students.
