Awsome teacher and he will do everything in his power to make sure you have fun in the class and succeed. Even if that means bumping up your grade just because he knows you care. My best advice is take the time to get to know him and he will help you succeed.

Attend all lectures & read the textbook in its entirety, ideally before class. Dr. Yard is fair and impartial and he will not try to tick or mislead you on exams. He will highlight the important information in each chapter, so its important to attend his lecture...it will help narrow the scope and add clarity to the textbook information.

Anatomy class is a lot of reading and memorization. Dr. Yard makes it as interesting and fun as a professor can. He is passionate about his job and it is reflected in his manner of teaching. He is accomplished in many other fields related to medicine. He has great stories relating to the topics discussed.

Loved this class! Dr. Yard was more than willing to meet with his students after tests and I believed that it helped boost my grade. Dr. Yard is passionate about the topic and makes his students love it, too. One would think that they would get lost in a class of 350+ students, butDr. Yard keeps you from feeling like just another student.

Excellent course, excellent instructor. Read the text, do the chapter-end question, use the Essential Study Guide by Doyle, attend lectuers AND listen to i-stream, and you can earn an A in the course. Email your classmates early via Oncourse to form study groups that meet weekly & go over important concepts-this is a difficult course--keep up!

Yard is a really good professor. Anatomy is a really hard class, but Dr. Yard provides lots of resources for you to succeed. Read the text, listen to i-stream, go to and participate in lab, do the chapter end questions, use the Essential Study Guide and keep up with class. Studying is a must. Dr. Yard does everything he can to help you succeed.

Anatomy is a really tough class, no matter where you take it. Dr. Yard is the best professor that IUPUI has!!!!! He really wants students to learn, and does EVERYTHING to help then do it. It is a challenging class. I took this course at another school the year before and didn't do well at all. Professor Yard is by far the best professor I've had in any course. There are so many resources available in this class to do well. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you want to do well...GO!! It's fast paced but just keep up and you'll be ok.

By far the best professor I've had. He teaches because that is what he enjoys not because he has to. Always helpful when you ask questions. The class itself is tough but having him in lab helps because you usually get out early and that just gives you more time to ask questions.

He is very smart, and sometimes he can get on a tangent, but it always makes you remember the topic. The class, itself, is difficult, you must study or else you will not do well, but just keep up with it.

Best teacher I have had in my entire college career. He cares about the students and how they learn. Going to lecture is KEY. I didn't use the book much but I studied the compendium like nobody's business. He is willing to answer questions and is very knowledgeable on the subject material. He was very helpful--always interested in helping students succeed. When a hiccup in the summer session occurred with some of the labs, he stepped in to fix it, making sure all of the students recieved the same level of education and opportunities. It is obvious he loves teaching. I highly recommend him.

Yard tells you want to need to know for exams. Go to lecture just to listen, listen to iStream on your iPod. It's easy if you know how to study: familiarize your self with words/terms; bit by bit memorize what terms are (aka divide it up, make up shortcuts to help your remember); do the questions in the book/study guide; go to lab play with models

This class was so much work! But Yard offers so much help, I advise anyone taking this class go to ALL the mentoring sessions!

Knows his stuff but makes the course unnecessarily difficult with his enthusiastic, speed-talking lecture style; mentors share a lot of practice questions that will help you prepare for exams; use the full lab time so that you can ACE the easier lab exams and have a little more wiggle room on the more complicated lecture exams

Fantastic! The lectures are all recorded. He always does a review a lecture before the test. He know his stuff cold. He is very helpful! All you have to do is ask! The exams are TOUGH, but the aid from the mentors and studying will help tremendously. You need to study A LOT! Nothing he doesn't say won't be on the test! Great for Lab as well.

Professor Yard is amazing at what he does! He knows more than anyone could ever imagine. The class is a lot of work, so if you don't have time, don't take it. Honestly, I never listened to echo online. I just went through his power points and studied the compendium and got an A in the class. It was by no means an easy A, I worked my butt off.

You might be choosing between Zevin/Yard. Hopefully you have a choice, and if so, choose Yard. An excellent instructor who cares about the material and his students. He provides enough tools/resources for you to be prepared. The difference between him and Zevin is night and day. Yard's class is practical and the material covered relates well.

The class has 400 and he knows most of your names in a week. Uses multiple learning styles as well, so you will get something regardless of who you are.

The lectures cover a lot of material in a short time, but you can listen to the lectures after class. I would attend another class taught by Mr. Yard.

I can honestly say that I enjoyed every second of the class (other than the hard exams, of course!)and studying is fun instead of a chore! This man is amazing. Make sure you get him for the lab. He's this amazing genius that makes a crap ton of info easier to handle and extremely interesting. This man has so much world experience and his stories show it. There's also something about him that just draws you in. It helps you pay attention and want to learn everything he knows about.

He is thoughtful and encouraging even though talking fast. Alwasy gives hope to the fall-behind students to which I belong due to my language barrier. But I still got 93% above under his encouragement.

Do NOT take this class with anyone else but Dr. Yard. He is AMAZING! He makes it very easy to pass but this is still a course that requires a lot of studying. The only regret I have about this class was that I did not have Dr. Yard for my lab. He truly is the best teacher on IUPUI's campus. He does not make attendance mandatory, and he posts his lectures on Echo. He will tell you what you need to know and what you do not, and he repeats it, so it's known. Don't take this class w/ anyone else! Fun & easy.

Awesome Professor. Truly cares about student success. Learned a huge amount. This class does require many hours of study/prep time.

I took this class during the summer along with two other classes and was still able to get an A+ even BEFORE he added a curve. It definitely takes a lot of time and effort but its totally possible. He gives TONS of extra credit points. Going to lectures and rewatching on Echo really helps things sink in. I miss him now that I'm in Physio w/Clark :(

Dr. Yard takes such a challenge course and makes sure that you will pass the class and learn. Lots of opportunities for extra credit so if you fail tests you can still get a decent grade. He was clear and helpful, you would have to try to fail the class. Highly recommend.

Absolute best prof I have EVER had. I would retake this class if I didn't want to go through all the studying and stress again. Go to each class! I had him for lab and I was supposed to have a B+ but he gave me an A-. He is tough for lab, but you are better off, especially for lecture.

Best professor I've ever had. Big curve and extra credits, but final exam was too difficult, so you might want to build your grades before final. My grade was about 96% before final, but after final it went down to a 90 which is still an A.

Michael Yard is the physical manifestation of anatomical knowledge. He lives and breathes this stuff. Uniquely inspiring lecturer and has many cerebral stories regarding the awes of the human body. Easily top two-three best professors at IUPUI.

Ask for help if you're falling behind! There are so many materials for this class. Final is difficult... I took it along with K101 and did well in both classes. The first five exams are doable. The nervous system exam was the hardest I would say.

Dr. Yard is the best teacher I have had. This class is not at all easy but very fair! He will challenge you and be there to help you. He mentors students not only about class topics but career as well. Use Echo, make a solid effort and you will be fine!

Yard is great. Anatomy is a tough class but if you put the work in, you will succeed. Yard helps you as much as possible. He is one of the rare teachers that knows everyone's name in his 300+ class. Don't skip lab! This is detrimental to your participation grade and it's where you learn the most. Only used lab book & condensed notes.

This class is not easy, but Dr. Yard gives you all the recourses to do well. Study alot, work hard, and pay attention. Dr. Yard is intelligent, understanding, and an expert anatomist. He understands how crucial it is for students to get an A in his class and supplies everyone with the resources to do so. Dr. Yard is my favorite professor I've had and I miss the class. He tells you exactly what material to expect on the test. If you study condensed notes and listen to echo you will be prepared. I recommend trying to get him as your lab professor too for more one on one time. He also offers a fair amount of extra credit points.

Prof. Yard is an outstanding professor. He knows his stuff and keeps it as interesting as it can be but he will make you work for it. He is clear about what goes on the test but the tests are hard; they are multiple choice but many questions can include any combination of answers, so know the details!

Excellent Professor who gives you the tools to succeed when you work hard. When I had trouble putting the information from the lectures all in my head, I read only the condensed notes and went through the lab manual and was able to fully grasp the information. The absolute best professor I've ever had. He cares a lot about the success of his students and does everything he can to make sure you learn and do well. It takes a lot of effort and you can't pass without attending lectures and listening to echo. If you do everything you're supposed to do then you will do excellent. He is the greatest!!!!!!!

I LOVED this class. Yard goes out of his way to get to know his students and genuinely cares. I did spend lots of time studying for this class but honestly I didn't mind it because of him. His lectures are very interesting!

Yard was my favorite professor. He made lecture interesting and linked to real life. He really wants you to succeed so if you are struggling go to his office hours.

Yard is a great teacher. He uses stories and other neat facts to make the content more interesting. I did not find the class very hard, I studied a lot though. You do not need the text book. I would recommend just using the condensed notes, lecture notes, and echo to study for the test.

I love Professor Yard! He is definitely one of the best professors I have ever had. He gives great lectures and he is very personable. I find his lectures to be pretty funny sometimes. He makes learning things that are super complex not so intimidating. He wants all of his students to do well, not only in his class but in life. Great Professor!

He was an awesome professor. I didn't do well in the class but that wasn't because of him. His lectures are very well thought out and he explains things with humor, just be ready to study a lot. He is there for all of his students and he will eventually learn your name out of 300+ students. I would definitely recommend him for anatomy.

Listen to echo, go to mentoring, and study early then you will be fine. He will make sure he teaches everything that will be on the tests, so come to class. I recommend his class

Dr. Yard is hands-down one of the best professors at IUPUI. His lectures are both informative & very interesting. You won't be bored. Use echo to watch the lectures if you miss class. Dr. Yard basically tells you in lecture what you need to know for the tests. Use the condensed notes to study. You don't really need the book. (I didn't buy it.)

After the 1st test, I realized I was studying all wrong. While its not mandatory, It helps to go to class and just LISTEN don't take notes, just listen. Then go back through and listen a second time on ECHO (he records all lectures) & write all notes & diagrams somewhere in the condensed notes. some questions in the book were on the test.

Yard is probably the best professor IUPUI has to offer. He's extremely helpful, makes lectures interesting, makes his expectations clear and is always making an effort to make things easy.

Dr. Yard is very clear about what is going to be on the exams, he will clearly tell you during lecture "you need to know this for the exam". He talks very fast so listening to echo after lecture is a must. You should also be prepared to study 2-3 hours every day if you want an A. Lectures are heavy, but he makes it fun.

Greatest professor i have had and will ever had. I was an exercise science major last year but now sports management. His anatomy class was great and very interesting, he is such a great person, lecturer, and cares about his students more than anything. He truly is the smartest person i have ever met and the most respected teacher ever.

He shows real autopsy videos and also utilizes the dissection videos in class, so it's not always all lecture. I personally didn't use the Martini textbook, but the condensed notes is a must-study. Overall, I loved this class because of Dr. Yard.

It is very important to take time and study for his course. Professor Yard has an online tool called Echo to re-listen to lecture in order to review. It is still important to attend the lecture. Great thing is he will never put on the quiz something he did not talk about in class. I am retaking this course because I didn't take it seriously before.

The class is difficult because it is a lot of material covered in a short period of time but Dr. Yard is fantastic! He explains everything well and truly cares about his students. He is always offering to set up office hour appointments to help out students. He is just overall a great professor who definitely knows what he's talking about.

Dr. Yard has quickly climbed to the top of my list of professors I highly respect and genuinely want to listen to. His lectures are so amazing, even on the days I didn't feel like going to class and went anyway, his lectures literally brightened my day. This class is going to be difficult. It's a lot of studying at home and you'll need the condensed notes. Each test has 6 bonus point so you can get 106 and he curves the overall scores. But even with this, it's hard.

Michael Yard is hands down my favorite professor at IUPUI. He is extremely knowledgeable on the topic he teaches (as he obviously should), but he is knowledgeable on HOW to teach his students. He will never leave you in the dark on the information you should know. He is the best. That is all I can say.

Professor Yard is the best professor I have yet to run into at IUPUI. You can tell he generally cares about his students. Literally will stop during lectures to say this will be on the test. He also offers trips to the cadaver lab, extra credit, and opportunities to accompany him on autopsies. I would recommend his Anatomy class to anyone.

Dr. Yard makes what could be a dry subject and makes it approachable and interesting. He is a dynamic speaker and goes very quickly but also makes sure to preview, cover, and review each set of new material for a total of three overviews. He has great stories and uses illustrations and videos (including his own dissection videos) to clarify things.

This is by far the most fast paced class I have ever. Do NOT take this class if you are taking other challenging courses. Anatomy REQUIRES you to have all of your attention focused on it. Yard is a AWESOME, but his class is just very fast paced and that is something to beware of. All lectures are on Kaltura and you can go to diff lectures/labs!

This has been my favorite class in college thus far. I enjoy every one of Professor Yard's lectures. If you watch the Kaltura's and follow along in the condensed notes you will do well on the exams. Takes a lot of studying, but if you put in the work you will get the grade you want!

This was by far my most draining yet favorite class at IUPUI. Professor Yard gives you ample opportunities to succeed along with being very encoring throughout the entire semester. The material is hard, but as long as you put the work in you will get the grade you want. I would focus on listening to the lectures online to study for the tests. He is a very detailed professor, so you need to make sure to show up to all his lectures. However, his tests are pretty clear. His Neuro exam is the hardest section. He is an amazing teacher and adds a curve in the end. He gives everyone a fair chance.

I took this class and decided to withdraw from it because I realized I wasn't doing well and it was stressing me. The professor replies to my questions fast and is a great professor. But the class, I find it really stressful for me, always exams & study. this class felt like hell for me.. I hope to do better next semester when retaking this class.

lecture exams are hard- use condensed notes and watch the kalturas religiously to study and youll do better. i got a D on like 4/5 of them and still got an A bc of extra credit at the end of the semester. use quizlet (look up bioln261) to study for lab exams, i got an A on all of them and that also boosted my grade so much! ALSO ATTEND MENTORING!!

I loved Yard. He is super passionate, and super knowledgable. Simply listening to him speak is fascinating. Mentoring is easily what helped me get an A+. They provide practice tests which helped me study an ungodly amount. He provided extra credit, and I enjoyed lab as well.

You can tell Prof. Yard loves what he does. Lengthy lecture, but very much worth listening to. He adds in a lot of real-life experience to his lectures to keep it interesting and make connections to real-world occurrences. I did take it twice, but the second time is always easier. Also, he is the type of professor that you can reach out to for anything, especially mental health which is really nice. Dr. Yard was one of my favorite professors here at university. Advice to upcoming students would be to use the resource Kaltura. He covers each body system at a pace that may be quick for most students, so Kaltura is helpful for going back to the recorded lecture for notes. Dr. Yard also has many connections for pre-professional students.

This professor is absolutely amazing! He usually curves the class since Anatomy is so hard. This class is not for lazy people and requires tons of study time. I recommend reading the PowerPoint, watching Kaltura, and doing quizlets created by past students. He will tell you what you need to know! Take this class seriously.

Nice professor and good teaching style, but not my cup of tea. you have to rewatch the kulturas multiple times. He does not curve every single exam. Also the curve in the end is not that big only a 5% curve.

This class was difficult for sure. He gives extra credit at the end of the semester. Learn how to study early on, it will help. Rewatch the Kultura videos after lecture for a refresher on notes that you missed during lecture. Yard is a great professor, you just have to put in the work.

He was an amazing professor who made learning a terribly tough subject, not as "bad". He is very up front about the grading scale and the curves of each test/ final grade. Because there are no real lecture assignments, the curves are extra points he is able to give back. Does he talk fast? Yes. Is his mic really quiet? Yes.

Anatomy, of course, has a lot of content to learn. However, Dr. Yard made it very enjoyable. I recommend attending his lectures, but I did stop attending his lectures in-person and it did not affect my grade at all. He posts his lectures online. He tells very interesting stories that make you really pay attention during lecture.

However, Dr. Yard has interesting lectures, will give you answers to tests in lecture, and gives a TON of extra credit. WATCH. KALTURA. that will be your holy grail. this course is a lot of work, but Dr. Yard makes it much more bearable.

Dr. Yard is truly the best professor I've ever had. The people that don't do well in the class are those who don't put in the time it takes outside of class. He provides soo many resources. The things that worked for me were watching Kaltura on repeat, studying the condensed notes book, and going to mentoring sessions with recitation leaders.

he tells you in lecture classes a lot of information that WILL BE on the exams!! it's very important to listen/write down what he says to make exams much easier. he knows what exactly he's talking about and 100x more, very funny, uses stories to make the content more real and captivating. absolutely would have him as my teacher in every class

Dr. Yard is the best of the best! If you have issues, he will work with you as long as you talk to him. His lectures will tell you exactly what is on the exam. He runs a tight ship but you learn a lot. He gives lots of extra credit and curves the exams. The class is graded solely on exams and lab. Make sure you do the condensed notes!

He actually cares about you as an individual and wants you to succeed. He has great stories and is very helpful. The class was difficult but he was great!

Professor Yard has a tough class but with effort it's great. Whenever paths crossed he always stopped to ask how I was doing in class, if I had any questions or concerns, and that he knew I could do it. Lecture is not mandatory but I don't recommend skipping. I highly recommend the mentor sessions as well. Exams are hinted in lecture and curved.

Extra credit. Recorded lectures. Compassionate professor. Many resources to succeed. Curved exams. No quizzes.

LOTS of extra credit. If you can't take the exams in person, he will work around your schedule. Amazing, but hard. You need to put work into this class. Don't ever get behind, because it is hard to get back on your feet. Do well in LAB exams.

Soooo much extra credit.

Everyone will tell you that this class is difficult. It is challenging, but it is not impossible. The three lab exams boost your grade significantly. Make sure to use the condensed notes, since it is common for his exams to include exact questions from the book. My biggest advice is to use the tutors as much as possible.

Dr. Yard is an amazing professor! Every time he explains a concept, he always has a story or example to go along with it, which makes the lecture engaging and memorable. The way he breaks down each topic and covers every detail really shows how much experience he has in his field.

Amazing Professor!

Such an amazing professor. Despite the number of classes he teaches and the large number of students he has, he genuinely cares that each student succeeds. Yes the class is hard but he is so so understanding and will work with you if you just reach out to him. If you have to take anatomy for credits, you want to be taking it with him.

He is an amazing professor and will help you improve your grade. Lectures were optional but recommended to attend.
