Funny teacher. Gives excellent examples. The course load was fair and the tests were EXTREMELY easy if you attended class and read the textbook. There is 2 midterms which I aced and a short written assignment. Takes the time to answer questions, in emails he answers thoroughly and gets back to you very fast. Really cares! Plus he isn't bad looking!

Interesting lectures, however large sections of test were based solely on specifics from assigned readings, so if you missed even one, an educated guess was not even an option. And somehow course always came back to international relations theory, barely any discussion of current events or news. However, not an easy A or B for that matter.

He is a great prof, I think. He definitely knows his stuff, engaged everybody with discussions of current events and examples to tie in with the theory, and adds little sarcastic remarks here and there which I found really entertaining. His exams are pretty fair if you've been to class.

Not only is he frigid when you ask him for help sometimes, but he passes off on actual objective data about IR events and focuses on rhetorical propaganda to relate information to students. Spends alot of time on menial stuff that wont have much to do on the exam, and rushes through important detail worth 20-30% of the grade.

Political Ideologies. Great class and Mr. Zekulin does a good job of teaching it. Could benefit from putting less text on powerpoint slides, in order to keep people's attention. It was hardly necessary to take notes. The TA Tim Anderson also was a good lecturer, but I think he forgot the class was a junior level course marking.

Dr. Zekulin is a phenomenal prof. His lectures are clear cut, interesting, and engaging. No textbook use as the exams were based on his lectures. He is a fair marker, but tests can be a bit tough. Very respectful towards students and encourages class participation. Doesn't post his slide, but gives you ample opportunity to copy them down.

I took this class back in first year. I found his classes to be interesting, however, he does not post slides to d2l so you'll always want to show up. He's a cool guy, I would take a class with him again.

Honestly the greatest professor I have ever had, he's amazing. Changed my major because of this class to political science. If you have ANY interest in ANY politics take ANY course with this man. Would trade left arm and right leg to take anything with him again.

If you interact with him, and participate in class, you will learn more and everything will be more clear. Though intimidating he is very nice, just break the ice and talk to him.

Probably the most interesting class I've taken thus far. His lectures and discussions are informative and engaging. There is a group project, but it's fairly simple. Essay isn't took long and no final. Lots of readings, but that's to be expected in a 500 level class. There are participation marks so joining in class discussion is a must.

The guy is a good professor. Took a couple of his classes. When you participate, make sure you have a good argument because he will try to sink you down sometimes. Ask him good questions, he will help out. He can be intimidating, but all in all the guy knows his facts and teaches well. I recommend taking a class with him.

Zekulin's booming voice can be heard down the hallway so don't expect to catch any Z's in his classes. Not that you'd want to anyway, since he doesn't post any slides online, so makes sure your attendance is on point. Also, read the textbook. It's actually very helpful and he includes questions on his exams from it.

Professor Zekulin is a great prof, he is clear in his expectations and is a great lecturer. He does not post notes online though so going to class is necessary. The class I took is based on one relatively easy paper, two midterms and the final.

None of the lecture slides or any reference to material covered in class is posted online. Any kind of material missed in class is also not covered in the required text (so basically if you miss a class, you miss material covered on the exams).

Michael was an amazing prof! The lectures were very interesting and engaging. Attending the lectures is a must if you want to do welll in the course because he doesn't post his notes on D2L. The textbook is also really helpful just for the midterms and the final. I would definitely take another course from him and highly recommend his class.

His lectures are really interesting and engaging, however he does not post slides anywhere online so you have to go to class. Poli 283 was one of my favourite classes I've taken so far at university, and if I get the chance I'll definitely take another course with Dr. Zekulin!

Great prof! His lectures are easy to follow and he makes them SUPER engaging. He is one of the reasons I was inspired to switch my degree to political science. Definitely recommend! Good to have textbook before tests to skim over - but not a complete necessity.

Did not need textbook at all. Attendance to lecture alone would allow one paying attention to pass (seeing as lectures are so easy to be interested in and pay attention to). He can passionately explain topics for over an hour and he makes funny comments and jokes every lecture. Amazing professor. No online notes or slides at all so better attend

Great prof. I took a spring class with him, really enjoyed it. You must attend his lectures in order to do well. They're easy to pay attention to so honestly just go to class. He is fun and easy going so don't hesitate to ask questions, during or after class. 10/10 would recommend!

Zekulin has no time for nonsense which I love. He doesn't post his notes online so if you miss class tough luck, but if you do go to class, take notes and study, you will do well. He gives his students everything they need to succeed, but you still have to work for it. Don't complain that he doesn't post notes online... just go to class.

Just completed his POLI502 class. One of the most interesting classes I have ever taken at U of C. Allows for and moderates interesting class discussions, and has valuable insight into nearly all areas of political science. Would highly recommend to any student who has an interest in international relations or political science.

He's a clear and concise prof, his lectures are very easy to follow and you won't get bored. Marking can be somewhat hit and miss, mostly have to write what he's specifically looking for. Although if you study you'll manage. I would definitely recommend this course.

Dr. Zekulin's lectures are very enjoyable and easy to understand. He doesn't post his notes online so attendance is mandatory. Some of the materials may be boring for people who don't like politics but he tries his best to make it interesting. Overall an awesome prof and definitely one of my favorites!
