everything is online. would have made an A if I bought the book. super easy class.
Good guy. All tests are online so it's easy. I never went to class and I should get an A in the course. Also cancels class sometimes :)
I loved this class! He was so respectful and kind throughout the entire class. Exams were online and extra credit quizzes were available before the test. 10/10 recommend. I plan on going into the healthcare field and this class had so many real-world applicable lessons - I found it so interesting!
Sferra is a pretty good professor. He's quiet, but he has a lot of good examples for his lectures from his therapy days. His lectures are pretty interesting, but tbh you can get a 100 on his exams if you just review the powerpoint slides alone. But beware, he has random in-class assignments so I'd still go to class as often as possible.
Sferra is a super easy professor, but his class is probably one of the most boring classes I've been in. He uses tangible examples which is helpful, but he tends to stretch them out unnecessarily long, I don't think I could take another class with him because his teaching style is so mundane.
He is a great prof, but the class is VERY boring. If you want to be even a little bit challenged by a class, this one is not for you. If you need an easy A, then it is. The other reviews are accurate regarding the class content. Too many basic examples, and if you've taken any higher level psych course, this one is so incredibly dry.
Sferra is very soft-spoken, but his class was my favorite this semester. Start working on your final paper early and STUDY! There were only 2 tests and they made up the bulk of the grade.
One self-Change project that you have all semester to complete, 2 test, and 6 pop quizzes (Can miss one or the 6th is extra credit). Lecture is very boring, people only show up because of the pop quizzes. Test are taken online. Easy A but did not learn much.
He has a background in counseling so his voice is very calming and soft which I found very relaxing and in no way boring. He always stays after class for questions. The class is pretty basic common knowledge so an A is easily attainable. My only critique is that he relied on his TA so much and grading is quite slow.
lectures are very boring, people only show up because he gives random pop quizzes. Tests are online. 1 research paper due (when 301/302 come in handy). I did learn from Sferra but I feel like I would have learned more with a different prof. Show up to class and take and quizzes, do the paper, and take the tests, you will make an A.
Dr. Sferra is an amazing professor! He really understands the subject and clearly outlines what he wants students to know for the tests. There's only two exams for the class and both are online. There are 7 random in-class assignments (pop quizzes), but only 5 count towards your grade. Read the textbook + attend the majority of classes easy A.
He is such a good prof! He gives examples from his therapy days which I really enjoyed. The tests are not bad as long as you study a little bit. He is a really sweet prof who understand the material and makes it easy to understand. He truly wants you to learn the material! He also does random attendance checks so be sure to go to class often!
Here's the tea: classes are slow paced, but it's because he takes his time explaining each slide with examples. You'll never be confused because he explains things so thoroughly, but I think that's why some people found lectures boring. The concepts he's teaching, though, are really self-applicable, so I learned a lot! A kind, well-organized prof.
PSYC 360 is an easy class. show up and you'll get at least a B.
He is a great professor! The exams are online and the material is very clear. 100% recommend!!
This class is an easy A if you stay on top of everything. The exam material is straight out of the lectures. Make sure to show up for attendance points because in the end the matter.
Professor Sferra is great! Majority of the time, he gives examples of his clinical experience and patients - make sure to take notes because MOST of those examples are on the exams!! Has a self change project due at the end of the course which is about 15 pages long but totally doable! Don't procrastinate! Also, offers extra credit opportunities!!
Amazing professor. I took him in the spring and I signed up for two other classes that he teaches. Lecture is a bit boring but he provides great insight. Class is straightforward and he offered extra credit. Ended with a 103 as a grade!
Dr. Seferra is probably the best psychology professor I have had. His lectures can be lengthy and a little bland, but he provides so much insight on different topics. The tests come straight from his lectures and the pop quizzes are so easy. I highly suggest taking him!!
Professor Sferra is the best professor I have ever had. He is so inspired by what he teaches and the quizzes and exams come straight from the lectures. HIGHLY recommend this course and this prof.
ONE OF THE BEST PROFS AT TAMU. Take any and every class that you can with this man.
Professor Sferra is awesome!!! PSYC 305 is an easy A. Show up to the lectures and listen/take notes. Textbook is not necessary, but can help reinforce concepts and can be interesting. Quizzes and tests are SO easy, just study the concepts/terms from lectures! There is a semester long self-change project - DO IT AS YOU GO THROUGH THE COURSE.
Super interesting class with the sweetest prof. Quizzes and exams were straight from the notes, although you'll want to listen bc it's so interesting. He has a lot of experience and the lectures have a ton of info to remember, but it's pretty straightforward and actually interesting.
Very interesting class with the sweetest prof ever! Tests are directly from the PowerPoint so there's no need to get the textbook. There's a quiz every week covering each chapter but they're all very easy. There's one writing assignment about an empirical study - if you took PSYC301 it's a little bit easier to understand. Overall super great prof.
This professor is one of my favorites so far. He really cares about students and is willing to answer any question. The course is very well organized, and if you just study the PowerPoints, that's enough for the exams. Lectures are interesting and applicable to daily life. The self-change project was not too difficult and the final not cumulative.
TAKE THIS CLASS!! I loved this class, and Dr. Sferra has a lot of Psychology background which makes this class so much better! He is able to tell you scenarios that help you understand things better. I never used the book, so I wouldnt buy it until you think you absolutely need it. Attend lectures! Lots of the test questions are said in class.
Fun class and is extremely well-versed in the topics he teaches. Difficult to reach out to but definitely tries to make a connection with his students. Lecture are a bit boring but they basically repeat the material in the book and he always responds to questions during lecture. Super helpful and all around nice guy
This man is my favorite! I would take this class every semester if I could. He truly cares about students & their well-being and success. He is a therapist so he has actual experience with what he's teaching, which is respectable. There's a quiz every week but they're pretty easy; you just need to pay attention to lectures and tests should be easy!
If you get the opportunity to take any class with Dr. Sferra, do it. The most interesting lectures that you actually learn from and a he genuinely cares for all of his students.
Loved this class. Professor Sferra is nice and the subject is interesting. Really easy class with weekly quizzes, 3 exams, and one paper. I never read the textbook (only attended class) and it was a super easy A. Definitely recommend.
Dr. Sferra was a very nice guy with clear expectations. PSYC 225 is super easy as long as you take notes in class and do flashcards. It's all memorization, and most of the time he doesn't give out trick questions on tests or quizzes. All of his lectures come straight from the textbook, and if you don't read the textbook, you'll be fine.
10/10 best prof ive ever had. Ive taken him twice. His content is easy to understand and grasp, and he is very good at really explaining his thoughts so you understand everything. If you attend lecture and pay attention, you'll do great on his tests/quizzes/written assignment. My only critique; he is slow to get things graded/reply to emails.
Take this professor! He explains things very well and it's obvious he cares about his students. I'd take him again if I could!
This prof is the sweetest professor I have ever had. He truly cares about his students and loves what he does. The only negative thing I have to say about him is that he is not very good at responding to emails so you have to depend on your classmates if you have a question.
Did not really need the book, his lectures are good. Questions come from PowerPoints. He goes really in depth and gives a lot of examples from his experiences to help you understand the material. Definitely pay attention to his review questions, very similar to the test. Only problem is you will NEVER get a response via email.
I didnt ever need the book, his lecture (powerpoints) covered everything. He gives a lot of in-depth examples from his experiences in the field. Important to attend the class before the exam, as the review questions are close to the test questions. The only downside is no response to email, so you will need to rely on classmates for questions.
Never even looked at a text book. You can tell he cares about his students. Exams come straight off the powerpoints. I would definitely take him again
Professor Sferra is an amazing professor. His lectures are so interesting and you can tell her cares for all of his students. He really goes in depth and makes you truly understand the material. He never responds to emails, however, so you would have to contact him through going to his office hours. Definitely take him!
really awesome guy, great at answering questions. i went to class probably 5 times total and made an A just by studying the powerpoint slides. pretty bad at replying to emails though, i would cc the TA as well for any questions you have
Dr. Sferra is the best professor that i've had at a&m. He genuinely cares about his students. He makes his lectures enjoyable and exams are based off the slides. He doesn't mind going into depth about any questions you have because his top priority is for you to understand! He is a therapist outside of teaching and he's honestly great!!!!
Not gonna lie, I never went to any of his lectures and still got a C. His exams and quizzes are easy and he usually posts his powerpoints online. Take him.
Love this class! He was so sweet and the material was very interesting. You dont really have to go to class because all the info is on the PowerPoints that he posts. Hes the only prof for this course, but dont worry cause hes awesome. 3 tests, one quiz a week, usually with 4 questions that you have 3 days to take, and an easy essay.
I absolutely love this prof! He's one of my favorite profs I've had at A&M. He really cares about his students and his lectures are genuinely interesting. Theres a project spread out through the end of the semester and it's actually a fun one. Definitely take this professor!
I LOVED Dr. Sferra. He is so caring and his lectures were interesting. Class was mostly just lectures using powerpoints, but he posted them for us to review later. Exams were basically only off of lectures, so I would HIGHLY recommend going to class and taking notes. I wish I got to have him in person because he seems like such a great guy.
Professor Sferras class was extremely enjoyable. You can tell that he is very passionate about psychology and knows what he is talking about. 10/10 recommend taking him for PSYC 305 and 323.
LOVED Dr. Sferra! I thought this class was an easy A. Notes on lecture slides are what's on the tests/quizzes, which are super straight forward (no trick questions). One paper that wasn't hard at all. Super interesting material too. Dr. Sferra cares about his students and likes what he teaches which makes all the difference. 10/10 prof!
He is really passionate about his job and just wants the best for students. His assignments are straight from his notes, he doesn't try to trick you. We had a semester-long project that was super helpful and easy, I highly recommend you actually participate.
LOVED this class!! Sferra is such a thoughtful and intelligent guy, and the lectures were always engaging and useful. Sometimes the class kind of felt like therapy because of how supportive and knowledgeable he is. Slides are comprehensive and very useful for studying, quizzes are reasonably easy and the tests are pretty much just longer quizzes.
Prof Sferra is really cool! Pretty easy class just weekly quizzes, a paper, and 3 exams.
Would highly recommend this professor for any PSYC course
I loved Dr. Sferra! He is so caring about the material and his students success. His tests are straightforward so study. His weekly quizzes are easy and only 2-3 questions long. He also offers other resources for his students such as a grad school informational by himself. He's easy to contact, and the class is fun and easy to understand. Take him!
Easy A class. Take notes on the lectures (he simply reads off the powerpoint) and you'll pass the quizzes and tests easily. I made study guides, studied them well on quizlet, and made A's on all the tests. Lectures are super interesting and the professor is really passionate about his work. Would definitely take again.
This was the easiest class I've ever taken. Prof. Sferra is easy to understand and listen to in lectures, and his exams are easy. If you go to lecture, take notes, and study a little bit you'll be fine. There wasn't a whole lot of work, but definitely enough to help prepare you and check understanding of the material. 10/10 professor
Dr. Sferra is an amazing professor! i loved taking his course and i hope to take him again in the future. Just study the powerpoints and you will be okay!
This is the 2nd class I've taken with Dr. Sferra and I really enjoyed it. Weekly quizzes, 3 exams, and a 3-4 page paper. None of them are very hard, very manageable. Lecture notes are straight forward and super helpful for quizzes/exams. I'd 100% recommend taking him for any psych class!
Dr. Sferra is amazing. He does a great job of explaining content at a pace you can keep up with. I highly recommend this class to anyone who wants to take it, especially with him.
WOW! This man is so sweet and truly cares about what he is teaching. Every lecture was simple enough to understand, but he still made sure to thoroughly explain everything. As long as you take notes you will get an easy A. Exams are based directly on lectures & slides. I truly enjoyed this class & definitely recommend it!
I would highly recommend taking Dr. Sferra's Psychology of Adolescence course!
While he is nice and quizzes and tests are done at home, his lectures are difficult to sit through. He expands into way too much detail and spends a long time on each bullet point. I also did not learn any material that was not taught in Intro to Psychology.
Dr. Sferra is very knowledgeable in his field and his lectures are paced well. He does a fantastic job of not causing undue stress on his students and genuinely cares about them. I would highly recommend him to anyone. His lectures can be slow for some learners but only because he wants everyone to be able to understand at their own pace.
In person class, but made zoom an option, so no one went in person. Entire class material is based on a self-change project (3 parts, super easy if you do the bare minimum). Locked participation quiz for EVERY lecture (M-W-F). Uses the same 3 examples for every topic he talks about. Tests don't have lockdown browser and have a week to take them.
This man is the GOAT of psychology in Texas A&M and an absolute blessing. Choose this class for an elective. Extremely simple and straightforward material.
You HAVE to take at least one course by him! He is very passionate about teaching and really engages you in his course. In class is participation based, and tests are scenario based mainly. Know definitions and examples he gives in class. Project was easy too, follow what he says and answer honestly. Easy grader on project. Very sweet guy.
Professor Sferra is amazing! His teaching style really made me decided to get a minor in psychology so I could have him again! Lectures are very engaging and informative. Tests are rather easy with studying. Show up to lecture and you'll do fine! Genuinely one of the best professors I've had while at A&M.
Take Sferra!!! Super easy class and learned a ton. Lectures are offered in person and on zoom but there is a participation grade for each class so make sure you go or watch online to get credit. I read the book at the beginning of the semester but realized it's not that necessary. Easy quizzes every other week and tests are fairly easy.
Professor Sferra is awesome. I took Psychology of Adjustment and it was really interesting. He is such a great professor and is very sensitive to students needs and is aware that we all have been through all kinds of things! I would absolutely take him again, no questions asked. Although attendance isn't mandatory you should show up. He's great!!
Dr. Sferra is an amazing professor! He genuinely cares about all his students and is very invested in the material he teaches. We had the option to attend class in person or zoom but attendance was mandatory for participation points. Online quizzes and tests and all of them were very straight-forward and from the slides he posts.
Professor Sferra is really nice and really easy!! Health psychology isn't the most interesting class but Sferra made it an easy A. He offered a zoom option so in person attendance isn't required, but there are participation quizzes. Overall he's really nice and the class ins't hard!
This is the 3rd time I take a class with him! He is amazing! He gives the option of attending through zoom and he takes attendance through participation quizzes. His tests are online and are heavily based on the lecture slides. Definitely take this class!
Awesome class, great professor, I learned a lot. All tests were online unproctored. Quiz towards the end of every class (for completion- is only counted for attendance, which is mandatory). I hate going to class in person- this prof gives the option to join a zoom call instead which was amazing. Posts each lecture vid after. TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
Great prof; he does attendance quizzes in class, but there's always a zoom if you don't want to go in person. His exams are straightforward and pretty easy and so are the quizzes and the one project. 3 total exams (no final). He's nice and understanding. would recommend.
I LOVE DR. SFERRA! This was my 2nd time taking him because he's a great professor! He really cares about what he teaches and is such a great lecturer. I cannot recommend him enough!
I LOVE DR. SFERRA! This was my 3rd time taking him because he's a great professor! He really cares about what he teaches and is such a great lecturer. I cannot recommend him enough!
Dr. Sferra is such a sweet guy! He hosts zoom lectures which is nice, especially if you're sick, it's raining, or if the class is at 8am. You have to be present to get participation credit, and it's worth it in the end so go to class. You can tell he genuinely cares, and he provides a lot of examples of concepts to better understand. Recommend him!
Don't need textbook. Pay attention in lecture and you will be fine. Offers zoom and in-person lecture options (PLUS lectures are recorded)! Attendance is NOT mandatory but does have participation points during lecture so take that into consideration. Exams are fairly easy as long as you pay attention to lectures. He makes lectures enjoyable !
Professor Sferra was incredibly understanding of student's time and outside commitments. He did have a participation poll each day but it was quick and easy. Definitely take him! He made class fun and easy! All tests were online, and had a zoom option for lecture if you could not make it to in person.
he has zoom option on top of in person lectures, which is also recorded and is super helpful. attendance isn't mandatory but he has participation quizzes. his lectures are great since he talks about his own experience in the field! study your lecture notes and the study guide, and you'll be good for the tests
Overall easy course I only lost points by missing class and not getting the attendance points. He is very nice prof and a great lecturer. The exams come from his slides and he talks about examples which is helpful to remember on exams. Exams were online with mostly MC and a couple FRQ
He truly cares about students time. He is very soft spoken and so understanding. If you take a class he teaches, I 100% recommend you try to get him. He made class so much more manageable. He offers class on zoom which he then also uploads to canvas (SO HELPFUL!). He does have participation grades, but its easy, so either log in to class or attend!
This class was a super enjoyable psych credit. Offered zoom and recorded lecture options. Class included tests and a major individual project, but nothing too difficult.
Dr. Sferra is awesome. He explains his lectures very well and he offers a zoom option for class if you aren't a fan of attending in person. He does take attendance which is a little annoying at times, but he is very chill and cares about his students. Assignments are easy and there is no busy work.
TAKE HIM. I'm a psyc major and will literally go out of my way/change degree plan to be in a class he teaches. Participation matters (live streams all of his classes, can do class from bed) and exams are online as well, literally did not go back to classroom after day 1 and have had him for multiple classes. He is awesome and sets u up for success!
This class is very minimal work - 4 question quiz every week and three exams (final is not cumulative). Dr. Sferra is a very nice guy and actually cares about his students. Takes attendance pretty much every day but you can do class through zoom and still get the attendance credit.
Take this class! He posts the powerpoints online and has the option for a zoom class. Aside from the course being generaly pretty easy, the topic is so interesting and he gives tons of examples to help students learn. He pulls examples from his experience as a therapist and makes the material applicable.
Dr. Sferra is so kind. His lectures were engaging, especially because he is a therapist so he has great real world examples for what he is talking about! There are participation points for attendance, but it still possible to get an A in the class with 0 participation points. There is a textbook but you don't need it. Tests/quizzes online!
Dr. Sferra is an amazing professor, he really cares about students understanding concepts of his course. I absolutely love how he explains everything with so much detail and precession. I highly recommend taking. His course, besides being easy, is understanding to learn and you can learn 1 or 2 things that you can apply in your day-to-day.
Not gonna lie I thought his lectures were pretty boring but he had participation grades only available in class so you gotta go. Quizzes, exams, and projects were online and didn't take too much time out of my day.
Dr. Sferra was such a caring professor. He was a great lecturer but such an amazing human as well. His class is pretty easy, I never studied for quizzes and just paid attention in class and did very well. There are weekly quizzes, daily participation that he DOES NOT announce, 2 exams, 1 short essay, and 1 final. Easy A for a loaded semester.
You could tell he actually cared about his students.
Great class! I'm not a psych major but this class was very easy, go to lecture, remember to do the assignments, quizzes, and exams on time and you WILL get an A. I only went to lecture about 60% of the time and still got an A!
Sferra is a great professor and the class is pretty easy overall. The material can get repetitive at times, but the quizzes and exams aren't too hard. Attendance is important since participation affects your grade, so make sure you show up regularly.
Sferra is very nice and passionate about his lectures. I don't love psych, but I think someone who wants to go into it would love talking to him. No-stress A in any class he teaches
He was a very good professor. Everything was laid out and organized very well. Grade is composed of participation activities every class, 2 exams, 6 quizzes, final, writing assignment, and an extra credit quiz. He explains the subject very well and you can see that he is passionate about the subject.
Awesome professor. He was really nice and understanding and he made the coursework very easy to understand. Go to lecture and everything is easy.
