Fun, intelligent and informative
She is an excellent instructor. You will find that you will learn alot more from her. She prepares you for University Paper by introducing you to the APA format. I enjoyed her class, I just didn't earn a A--I learned and absorbed information and became knowledgeable.
She's the best Psychology teacher at CCC. Super nice and funny. You can learn a lot from her especially if you're in Psy major. Not a lot of work. Lots of quizzes & tests tho. However, if you follow the study guide you'll get an A in her class.
I don't feel that Ms. Arnolds is a good teacher. She is very young. It seemed as if she was nice in the beginning but then I found her to not be. She says she likes for students to email her with questions, but then when you do ask her questions she says its your responsibility to find the answer. She is very rude.
wonderful prof.. her lectures are great and informative.. she is the best psych teacher at ccc..very nice and funny.. she is a must take for all classes psych!
This teacher is kind of hard. I would not recommend taking her if this is your first or second semester. Its not much homework, but its hella notes and she goes hella fast. Also make sure that you are there for the test, if not if she does let you make it up its all essay questions. The best thing about this class is that the quizzes are open notes.
She is an excellent teacher. very to the point and is willing to help! She rocks!
Professor Arnold rules!
I would def. recommend taking prof. arnold. she is a really nice and funny teacher. there are only 2 major tests, which she gives you study guides for it that pretty much gives you all the questions that are gonna be on the test. Also, one major paper, which was pretty easy. I received an A in this class. So, take this class if you want an A.
Prof Arnold is an very fair grader. Quizzes are open note - if you can't get 80+% on those, that's on you. She gives completely comprehensive study guides for exams - complete them, and you should get 80% at a minimum. There are two papers - they are summarizations of articles, not even research - work, yes, but not hard. *I* see this as an easy A!
Do the Study Guide, ASK questions before exam for any 1 you dont know, she basically gives you the answer. Open notes, do study guide completly. I never watche a video in this telecourse and earned an A by doing the guide and taking advantage of the bonus points.
her lectures are clear and informative
she knows what she's talking about. very smart and sophisticated.
I really enjoyed this class, if you have children or plan to at any point in life you should take this. Professor Arnold is great you will learn lots. Pay attention before exams she literally goes over each question prior to handing out the test. No reason you can't get A's on all the quizzes.
I think she is a good teacher, I thought her class was very informative. Although I don't like when she puts people on the spot to answer a question she asks. I also like how she gives the class heads up on upcoming quizzes (open notes)and study guides (closed notes). I would recommend her
she is a very good teacher, she explains things in a manner that everyone can understand. As long as you pay attention in her class, read the book, follow the syllabu, and pay attention to what she is saying you should het an A in her class. I've taken almost all my psych classes wiht her and have recieved an A, in all of them.
She really was great when I took her class. She made learning about psychology fun and I learned quite a lot when I was in her class. We were assigned chapter readings and given study guides for the test. Also, the test were open note. So, this class is not very difficult.
I would recommend her to anyone. As long as you try in her class there is no reason you shouldn't get an A or B (at least). She does not try to trick you and if she requires you to write a paper she is really generous with the grading.
She is ok but doesn't really explain the apa format essay. she grades really tough on that when some people have not never wrote in that format.
I recommend you take her class. You will be motivated to learn because you will see your standing in the class as you go along. Study guides are provided and quizzes are open notes. What more can you ask for? The best class I have ever attended so far. Topics are straight from the book, easy to follow and she teaches very well. I learned a lot.
I've taken ALL of her classes. She knows her sh*t really well. Very intelligent. She shows empathy towards her students and want them to learn. You will become very knowledgable after leaving her class at the end of the semester. I highly recommend! She makes it really easy for everyone to pass the class.
She is a great teacher!!! Do the study guide prior tothe test and you'll be fine. make sure you read the chapters before every class. I actually learned alot from her class!! :)
Professor Arnold is awesome. very helpful, encourages coming in on office hours. Usually has a big paper with APA format, but it isn't hard because she walks you through everything, from the thesis to how the paper should look. She is also very engaging, and funny. Take notes, do the study guide, and come to class. Professor A is a great teacher.
Prof. Arnold was a great professor. She always kept the class interesting and would always thoroughly explain herself. I took Human Sexuality and she always had fun stories to say. I would definitely recommend this class to everyone.
I took her psych classes for three semesters. Definitely the best psych professor, isn't super hard, but wants you to walk away with knowledge. Always have funny, personal stories to share, and is very open. Her APA paper really prepare you, especially if you're a psych major. HIGHLY recommend her, favorite teacher thus far! Only good things to say
SUPER NICE PROFESSOR! EASY A AS LONG AS YOU READ AND DO THE HOMEWORK AND DO THE STUDY GUIDES!
Totally worth taking. Just hard enough to challenge you and interesting enough to keep your attention. Great professor. Definitely one to remember
She is very clear and practically gives you the test with the study guide. Her lectures are very informative and she really tries to explain things.
She's such a good teacher! Just make sure to keep up with the readings and study for the exams! I really recommend her for psych 220
Very cool teacher. Head of the psychology department so she knows what she is talking about. Would definately recommend to anyone majoring is psych
Young, enthusiastic, smart. She is very passionate about teaching and respectful to her students. She is also great to talk to in private about anything. On top of that she is very attractive:)
Professor Arnold is a great teacher! She makes class interesting. Her class is not boring at all in my opinion. She is very cool and funny and knows what she's talking about! Very smart and inspiring young woman. The workload is average, you must keep up with the readings!
i loved her class even though there was an intense amount of information to retain. she grades you on the total points you obtain through quizzes, tests, homework, papers etc. shes very nice, but she will check you if you disrupt class! i dont know about everyone else but i love a teacher who has full control over her students! i recommend her!!
I took both Psych 220 and 126 with Professor Arnold and I enjoyed both so much, especially 220. Her class is not hard if you do all of your work and go to class. Lectures are really interesting. And she's sarcastic and funny sometimes, btw, she has low tolerance for bs so don't mess with her lol.
Professor Arnold gave me a B even though my final percentage was 89.4. I even e-mailed her to work something out! Don't take this online course!
Awesome teacher, fun class
She really challenges you and be prepared to do an APA format paper
Amazing lectures and fun teacher
She was awesome! Her lectures are really interesting and she was really clear on every assignment. You HAVE to read though, there is just no way around it at all, but overall I loved her class. She also puts everything up on D2l so there is literally no reason not to do your work. lecture slides, resources, everything.
Amazing professor, if you just do the work and read the material you will pass
The school is planning to get rid of her. She is a total B!
Gen. Psych. Navigation on the D2L is difficult because she doesn't do it like any other professor. It takes forever just trying to navigate where she puts everything. Folders inside folders inside folders in places you'd least expect. It's really ridiculous. Also, she's very intimidating. Too much busy work--tons! Never take her class again!
I wish I had looked at the ratings before taking her class. She is very confusing with her lectures you will get better understanding when doing launchpad even though the system tends to shut down. If you ask for assistance with her work she refers you to the library she always have an excuse of why she won't be in her office. Good luck.
So I was in her online psych class & she is very picky & a little bit too strict on things. I originally chose her as an instructor bc I like sternness & to know whats expected of me, but she goes a little farther than I like. She locks assignments till like 2 days before it's due. Overall, too many restrictions for me. First course I ever dropped.
She's a great teacher, i took her for in person lectures which are amazing because you can get a better understanding of the subject, but for online classes i wouldn't recommend. She gives 2 chapters a week with 4 quizzes, 8 discussion questions and all due in one week i don't recommend unless you take it by itself
The best professor at CCC. She is very organized and easy to understand. She gives the best examples for everything and has everything prepared for the whole course from Day 1. She is very easy to talk to and wants you to pass. Her class is always interesting/exciting. She assigns work that definitely makes you learn the material for the course.
Took her in person and online. Her online biopsych class has a lot of work in it, but once you create a schedule on how to manage the work, it's a lot easier. As long as you read the material, do your work on time then you'll be fine and pass. She is easy to understand and provides good sources to help you pass. If you're lazy, you won't pass.
SHES GREAT. DO YOU HOMEWORK AND PARTICIPATE DURING CLASS
She is awesome. I'd recommend taking her class to any and everybody. She has a clear grading criteria and has the funniest stories. You learn a lot taking her class and I promise you will not regret it.
This was probably the worst class I ever had. The professor is too strict on many assignments. I did an assignment and got a "0" for not getting approval which I didn't know I had to get approved for doing the assignment given. I worked on an extra credit assignment which was super tough that it took me 4 hours until I just gave up. Too Strict!!!
Ive taken her in lecture classes and they were pretty interesting, but online is different, you have to keep up with the course because if you fall behind so does your grade. This class is not for anyone who procrastinates, but I recommend if you are going into biopsych because it covers just about everything there is to know about the subject
ONLINE CLASSES: She obviously isn't very organized and doesn't know how to use Epic very well. Modules are out of order and her directions are not clear AT ALL and when I try to ask her a question about it, she either doesn't respond, or gives me a generic response rather than just helping me. It's VERY frustrating to say the least.
One of the best professors I've had at CCC. Human Sexuality is a class that EVERYONE should take no matter your major, truly enriching and applicable to every aspect of your life. Her class is interesting and entertaining, and she is straightforward about expectations/assignments/due dates. Very smart and funny, you'll never be bored in her class.
This instructor was incredibly difficult to deal with. The very first day class started she sent an email implying annoyance at people because no one had completed the orientation work. She also constantly sent emails stating she can see what you do in canvas and that cheating will be reported to the dean....
I was in her Human Sexuality class which I highly recommend many people to take. Everyone during the first two weeks thinks this class is not for them because they are so closed minded but don't realized all the knowledge you can learn from this class and help other learn too. Professor of course is strict but if shes not stern you won't learn!
Shes a great person really friendly but everything is very strict, everything has to be perfect and on time
Professor Arnold is nice, but she expects quite a lot. This is not a class to take with multiple classes because there is a lot she wants for online discussions and participation. This almost feels like more of an English class because she is so focused on writing and APA format instead of just teaching students the material.
To do well in this class you must take it seriously as she has high expectations. With that being said, she will completely set you up to succeed. I have taken her twice now and am taking her again next semester
love it
Professor Arnold is kind and respectful. However, you have to be spot on with your APA work or you won't do well in this class. I felt the grading at this level for APA was rather stringent and not necessary for the development of the subject matter. I understand that she believes it is a tool for the future of students academically, but WOW!
This course felt more like Master's level course not community college. I have an MBA & those classes are much tougher. Ms Arnold seems obsessed w APA format & I would advise only take her online class if you are focused on school. If you have a job, life commitments, don't enroll, you will spend too many hours completing her detailed assignments.
Literally the worst teacher I have ever had!! Dont bother asking her anything shes going to refer you to one of the 1000 hand outs she puts in multiple folders. She very nit pickey and states she doesnt care what goes on in your personal life everyone has the same 24 hours in a day and I quote. The APA formatting required is unrealistic
She is a terrible! She doesn't provide students with enough information to help them with an assignment then just refers them back to her initial instructions when they don't understand. She takes off a lot of points on assignments for small mistakes, but again, does not explain why she took the points away in the first place. Do not take her class
Awesome professor. I learned so much from her than any other professors at CCC. I'm transferring to UCD this coming fall and feel comfortable and ready after taking multiple classes with Professor Arnold.
The one thing really holding back this ONLINE class is how CANVAS is formatted. Ex: some MAJOR/CRITICAL assignments could only be found/turned in through the SYLLABUS section and were NOT found in the grades or modules sections. Keeping up with the poor formatting throughout the entire semester is not ideal. First time online students, stay sharp!
She is a very tough grader .This is the hardest class I have ever taken (and I was in University for two years) she is not really willing to help and will ding you points for any little mistake. Very tough class with loads upon loads of homework, i honestly don't recommend unless you have nothing else but schoolwork to do all day.
DO NOT TAKE! Very strict and tough grader. Doesn't help at all. Asked for help for an assignment because I was unsure of what she wanted. Referred back to the instructions that confused me in the beginning. Hoping for a lecture that would help understand the textbook, more tangents on herself than info. We get it. You're accomplished.
Professor Arnold does have a lot of homework, but you will learn from it because she is only getting us ready for the next level. This has been one of the hardest but rewarding classes that I have taken. She always ask if we need help, support, or tutoring. She is also the chair of Psychology at CCC. Don't let the comments trick you, she is awesome
Best way I can describe Prof. Arnold is as a being with zero empathy or concern for others. Her 'instructions' are no more than telling you to publish the assignment and waiting for a roulette table to decide your grade. You can learn a lot from the material and that's about it, I can't think of one thing SHE taught me. Don't need this class? Skip.
This class is SO fun! Super interactive & a class to look forward to. There are technically 4 papers, but all of them are only 4 paragraphs + title page & works cited. Also gives AMAZING study guides that mimic the test. To succeed in this class, just know your APA format! Good luck!
Prof. Arnold's class is well organized. The syllabus being very specific about grades and does not waver from deadlines. Lots of reading is needed to help you understand the topics. Take notes when viewing the video and be ready to report out. Be sure to learn how to write MLA papers w/ sources to make your paper more credible. Study 12 hrs/week.
Terrible. She is more concerned with the APA format.
WOULD STRONGLY NOT RECOMMEND. Professor is very very rigid - gives unclear directions and if you're sick/late/anything is uncaring regardless if you tell them ahead of time. I don't get how a psychology professor lacks caring so much
Every week you have to read the chapter, watch the lecture, take a quiz, watch a movie, do a discussion, and respond to 2 students. Sometimes there will be 2 chapters in a week so double everything I just said. I've taken 5 unit classes with less work. Do not take her, you will regret it. I had to drop. I hate the way this class is formatted.
Professor gives so much work I find myself rushing into every lecture that I am not learning anything. Deadlines every few days so I quickly read over the text to answer questions. :( Dissapointed
Absolutely love Dr. Arnold. I took her Psych 120 and Psych 220 courses. I like that she does a video whether the class is online or an in person zoom class and goes in depth on assignments every week. She is easy to understand, gives lots of time to complete assignments, is approachable, and understanding. She cares about her students, do the work.
I've taken Professor Arnold for three of her psych classes (Psych 220-General Psychology, Psych 126- Child Development, and Psych 120-Human Sexuality). Love her lectures because they are always so informative and very interesting. Her assignments are all straight forward, most are online as well as assigned papers. Loved all her classes!
Biopsych was made unnecessarily hard. Cares more about APA format than actual content of submission. Expects students to write journal-worthy papers without regard that we juggle learning, working, and surviving a pandemic and that students have unequal time availability and access to technology. I can sense academic elitism in this class.
Don't take if you don't need it. Really reading-heavy and takes too much time, even for psych, nursing, and bio majors. Also strict about APA, but ironically, I find the questions on Quizlet.
im not even learning im just answering discussion board questions, watching interesting but useless documentaries, and mostly rushing to meet her rigid deadlines ... take this class only if u have a lot of free time and patience
Bad professor. Has rigid deadlines and has little to no considerations of her students outside lives especially during this pandemic in which we ate fully online. She is very disorganized in the arrangement of her assignments and offers little to no help when you have questions. Takes a long time to grade but expects a lot. I learned nothing!
Cares more about APA than the actual material were supposed to learn. Gives the same generic, useless responses to your questions. Unclear directions. Dont take her class.
The class is boring and she expects too much. Her deadlines are rigid, and she mostly only cares about proper APA, otherwise, she'll report you to the dean for "plagiarising" or will take away most credit from an assignment. There are weekly discussion boards and she may sometimes give you two per week as a surprise. Please do not take this class.
Like the other ratings, this teacher is very strict on APA formatting. But, rarely discusses and teaches students how to format according to her preference. Do not take this class unless you have no other classes to focus on because this class is very demanding.
Not an easy A. If you need this class for transfer, be on track. Refer to orientation module for format on everything like DBQ responses, midterms, and quizzes. Also, check test banks as all quiz questions are somewhere on the internet. Lastly, don't tire yourself out. This class is interesting, but it sucks, so prioritize your mental health.
I absolutely would not recommend taking any of Prof. Arnold's classes. Very lazy professor. Does not assist students when they need help. She strictly fits the word "Instructor", she only gives instructions. Doesn't actually teach the material. It's as if she wants students to fail. Awful!
I have taken Dr. Arnold's courses. If you read, do the work you will pass. There is homework, papers, videos, lectures, research, and exams. Dr. Arnold goes over the homework and exams thoroughly before you do it, so there are really no excuses for failure unless you are not doing the work. She is jolly, smiles, and fun. Loved her and the courses .
Do not take this class if you are someone that does not have time for multiple chapters a week and long discussion boards. Professor Arnold expects us to learn strictly from the textbook with no supplementary lectures. Literally just doing APA-style discussion boards to get a grade, don't even know what I'm learning about anymore.
Please listen to all the other reviews. If you only want to read a dense book with no other help from her or provided lectures then go ahead. She is essentially just a grader. She does not teach AT ALL. No lectures, no written typed notes about the chapters, no videos, no powerpoints, LITERALLY NOTHING. Extremely frustrating. I have learned nothing
Her deadline to turn in assignments was 9pm.
Bored out of my mind! Spent the first 45 mins (not exaggerating) repeating admin stuff. No actual lecturing/explaining! That's been the trend so far. Doesn't respect student's time, otherwise she'd actually teach sth useful rather than filling the time w/ bull! For sb so strict on plagiarism, it is ironic that her class has no original content
Unless you wanna spend 6+ hours on one homework assignment where you have to unnecessarily read (sometimes multiple chapters a week) I wouldnt take this teacher. You dont learn anything as theyre not a teacher, theyre a grader. Dont take this class if youre taking more than 3 units (seriously)
My main complaint of this class is the lack of lecture. They say you really understand the material when you can explain the it to someone else. I am starting to believe that Arnold does not really understand the material because she is very resistant to explaining anything. Even when you ask her a direct question, she would go off on a tangent.
Don't take a class with her unless you want to spend hrs on your own studying for the class. She doesn't explain the material in class at all. Shows lots of movies. As a psych professor, she ought to know that movies alone aren't the best vehicles for teaching. Students need lectures, interaction, reinforcement! HWs are unnecessarily complicated.
She never systematically explains any of the terms from each chapter. Often claims to have covered a material when she really never discussed it in class. When you ask her sth, often she will say "we already covered it" or give a clipped definition instead of a thorough explanation. I suspect she doesn't understand it well enough to explain it.
I never had to work so hard for a class yet retained so little! Although it was a lecture, I felt like I had to teach the material to myself because she never explains anything. There are many community colleges in the Bay Area with better professors, who actually care about teaching. I recommend taking zero classes with her. Life is too short!
All I'm going to say is that there is a reason why she doesn't allow you to record her "lectures." The college would be furious if they found out how she really fills her "lecture" time with anything but lecture. Wish I dropped this class. I thought it was a slow start, that she would eventually cover the material. Never did! Big mistake!
The materials of this class are not inherently difficult, but the way Arnold teaches it, makes it difficult. HWs are not always relevant to class. You will end up doing a lot of work on your own, yet you will not remember a whole lot after this class is over. Arnold never really bothers to explains the material at all. I resent her laziness!
Teaching is the wrong profession for Arnold. Her personality, rigidity, insistence on petty rules, desire for absolute control over the lives of her students would make a great prison warden, or that's what it feels like when taking her class. Assignments take a lot of time as she insists on APA for every single assignment. This class is exhausting!
I'm an auditory learner, so I chose to take a zoom lecture with her. I thought it would be better than taking classes asynchronously. I'm really disappointed cause she never really covers the material in class- spends 30-40 mins each class, showing how to access the hw assignments in canvas. Then we see a long, usually old, probably outdated movie.
Every time I'm in her presence, my blood pressure rises out of sheer frustration! She is a pathetic excuse of a teacher -doesn't teach at all. Exams are easy as she literally gives you a list of exam Q's. I think it's to cover herself- she doesn't explain anything, so if she didn't give the exam questions, everybody would fail & make her look bad.
This class was not hard. What was hard was having to do everything without absolutely no lecture or explanation of anything. If you don't use APA Formatting be ready to fail. If you need help, you might as well save your breath because she is not going to help you. Her final assignment was an APA journal article review! Zero explanation!
This teacher is totally sadistic! Every week we have one chapter due on Launchpad, but the two weeks we have major deadline, like a paper draft or paper final, she gave us two chapters- double the homework! I mean who does that? Most of my psychology professors are very nice and helpful. They want you do do well. Not Arnold!
Dr. Arnold is a great teacher and listener, she will make a researcher out of you. She will have you ready for transfer with her use of APA on all papers. Lectures are interesting. She helps you out with testing by going over it in detail beforehand. If you study, read, do the work, you will pass her class. If your lazy you will be angry and fail.
Arnold is totally unhinged! Sometimes it feels like her singular reason for existence is to get sadistic pleasure by torturing her students. She also gives no clear guidelines apart from APA when it comes to papers, which lets her grade arbitrarily, assigning more points to sycophantic students. If you value your free will, steer clear of her class
Dr Arnold only cares about APA style, she does not go over any materials no lectures at all only videos that she puts up every week and quickly runs through the chapters there are assignments due every week as well as papers 2 assignments add to 50 % of the students grade I would not recommend anyone to take her class there is no value at all.
Textbook was 100. She cares a lot about APA format so make sure you pay for the APA courses and rubric. For the two major quizzes, she provides study guides from the very beginning and if you fill them out as you are learning the material you should pass. She is kind and willing to answer questions but gives broad answers.
Class is actually Psych 205 but there was no option, fully online. Two teacher class, Arpine gave the work (lectures&made work) and Dr. Arnold graded. Textbook was 100. reading and quizzes accessed in McGraw-Hill. Weekly lectures and quizzes, decent assignments. APA format is extremley important! It was easy I recommend.
She takes a lot of time to grade so it puts you on the ease on whether you will pass or not. Her work is also directly from a YouTube professor so we were not taught much. I did like that we had 2 weeks to finish the module as it is a lot of reading to obtain. The class is overall interesting and she encourages you to submit your assignments!
She isn't clear with assignment instructions, her grading rubric is incredibly inconsistent, and she is not helpful at all when students ask for help. She marked me down for using a citation that she gave us to use for a paper
I enjoyed the class & would recommend this course for new college students/returning college students because you will learn a lot and better time management skills. All of Dr. A's assignments requires a lot of time for reading and writing because there is a clear grading criteria for what she is looking for each assignment
Ima help you out.. Dont take this class. This profesor will grade you two weeks late and give you a bad grade
DONT TAKE HER CLASSES!!! This professor will grade your work 2 weeks after you have submitted your work and give you a bad grade with a comment saying what you need to fix but by the time you get that comment you already made that mistake again so you are graded a bad grade several more times. Expects students to read a ton and write a ton.
This class could be super easy but the professor is cruel and will give you horrible grades for hard work that meets all of the expectations. She also suggested getting help from tutors (which I most definitely dont need) instead of offering help herself. The material is very interesting but I am VERY UNHAPPY/DISAPPOINTED with this professor.
Her class consists of pre-recordings and online programs. She takes an abysmal amount of time to grade. Then when she does, she gives out vague reasons why you got that grade. Also, she doesn't tell you about the final, or the things you'll need for it, so you have to basically find what it is yourself. Just avoid this teacher as best as possible.
Professor Arnold is teacher first and professor second. What I mean she cares more about her student's education than just being leader of the class. In addition to the curriculum assigned text, Dr. Arnold provides insightful, detailed lectures going far above and beyond of the minimum requirements. Take her class seriously and you will benefit.
The textbook was $150. Most of the work is completing chapter questions, discussions, and film reviews. I don't feel like I've learned and would not retake this class. I wish the assignments were more thoughtful rather than just answering questions in a textbook which is expensive too. I didn't enjoy doing the work because of the repetitiveness.
If you're going into a major that uses APA, take her class. She is very strict with APA and will help get you prepared. But if you need any help, you may be met with a snarky remark or told to ask the course librarian. Just do what you gotta do to learn and get a good grade. As long as you do all your assignments, you'll be fine.
I liked this class even though she has lots and a lot of work she gave us a lot of extensions and she definitely makes sure you have time in between papers and assignments to succeed and turn everything in.The only bad thing was that she didnt really use the slide show notes to teach she just told you about the chapters and personal experiences
My favorite professor so far at community college. She is honest, transparent and prepares you accordingly, if you intend to transfer to a four year. She has prepared me immensely for the future and has fostered a genuinely safe space for learning. If you are serious about your studies, consider Dr. Arnold to bring out the best in you.
The only reason she's not lower is because her class is easy. She does not give consistent grading and is nitpicky with canvas responses of all things. She also assigns way too much busy work and is vague when it comes to major assignments. She doesn't provide any support outside of class and just redirects you to external sources.
I took her in the spring of my freshmen year of highschool, it was a very bad first experience into college classes. There is work but it is very manageable. If you ever want to get clearer instructions or more details on assignments from her then good luck. Just really study the rubrics and get your APA formatting right.
If you have a difficult time with them as well, I do not recommend this class. There is a lot of homework and it is very writing heavy and if you can write well and keep up with this class, than take it! The teacher is very nice if you talk to her via zoom, and very inspiring once you know her.
Avoid her. The professor went on a trip during finals and didn't respond to my email for 12 days, saying it was too late to help. Communication is terrible. The structure is unclear, with homework due in the 6th week before assignments due in the 5th week, making it easy to miss deadlines. Very strict on APA, failing you even if you understand.
I was in a late start class, but the workload was heavy. There were lots of DBQs, assigned videos, assigned readings, and quizzes, and every other week there was an 8-page essay. Sometimes, two in a week. In addition, she returned essays late, by the time she reviewed essay 3, essay 5 was done! Not that her feedback was that useful anyway...
Out of office always (as I write this, she is announcing she will not reply for the next month), never replies to messages even if she is in office, grading is inconsistent, the assignments are lazy and recycled. 5 papers with the same exact rubric, just on different stages of life. Class was not engaging at all, would recommend taking elsewhere GL
This class is extremely writing heavy, I did a total of 5 essays for the class in six weeks during summer excluding the final of which consisted of 7 paragraphs for answers. The feedback wasn't very helpful so if you're not confident in your writing skills I won't advise to take the class, but if you are skilled, the class shouldn't be hard.
I had to withdraw from this class because it was too difficult... all the lower ratings are true and I should've took them into consideration before registering.
This class can be tough, with a lot of reading and writing. But the professor really cares and provides great lectures. Unstuckstudy was a big help for study prep.
I definitely did not enjoy my experience. Very heavy on discussion posts. If I didn't format it "proper APA" I got marked a 0. Felt more like an APA class. She decided to put a huge paper the same time as thanksgiving break so we weren't able to contact her for help at all. And the way she arranged canvas was horrible. I could hardly find anything.
Dr. Arnold is an excellent professor. She taught my first online class, and I succeeded by using her example of a perfect APA paper for every assignment. The class included DBQs, peer reviews, five writing assignments, a final essay, and extra credit papers. I recommend taking it with just two or three other 3-4 unit classes.
Warning: Do not take Professor Arnold's class. While I learned a few things, her overwhelming focus on APA and constant unavailability due to vacationing during finals were major issues. She seemed uninterested in her students' success. After retaking the class with another professor, I got an A, proving the issue was her teaching.
Do not take this class. She is completely uninterested and often absent, usually due to vacationing. She does not provide adequate support and is unhelpful. Despite putting in my best effort, receiving an F really affected my graduation timeline. Her focus is on APA, and after retaking the course with another prof, I got an A.
She was not that hard at all. I took her in spring in 2024. It's true she is kinda strict about APA format and many homework, with 2 bigs final essay. But as long as you do the homework you're fine. She is not that hard to communicate just a little bit late respond. But I don't think I will take her again because many homework for a week. IN
She seems to be a sweetheart but she is a VERY TOUGH grader and she's very particular in the way she wants things she takes off points for everything, you'd think this was an English class. She's also very particular about APA wants you to watch multiple videos about it. Etc. I honestly do not recommend taking her.
This lady is a extremely tough grader you will never get full credit in her class EVER! It's live she lives for pointing out every little flaw! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! IF i didn't need this class to graduate next semester i would definitely drop this class.
She is very tough, she does respond to emails but if you don't understand she wont help you she'll just direct you to a video or article to read and that's extremely annoying especially if you suffer from any learning disabilities or mental health. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS LOOK FOR ANOTHER PROFESSOR!
This professor is an extremely tough grader and does not make herself available for students to ask for help, despite it being a completely online asynchronous course. She also grades late. Most of the assignments required as much writing as an English class would. I won't complain about the APA format requirements, but they were quite prominent.
THIS LADY WAS ONE OF THE WORSE PROFESSORS IVE EVER HAD, I COMPLETED EVERY SINGLE ASSIGNMENT NOT ONE MISSING OR LATE ASSIGNMENT. I PASSED HER CLASS WITH A 86%. SHE IS A EXTREMELY AND ANNOYING GRADER DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE
if every one is saying the same thing please take heed, she's the worse. doesn't grade until weeks later then leaves a bad comment telling you to correct your work even though she doesn't accept anything late. Save yourself the headache. don't take
Very tough grader. Everything has to be perfect.
