Coolest english teacher, coolest english class. This man's a riot and he gives you a lot of information to work with. The journal's really long, but nevertheless pretty fun to write. A fairly easy grader if you write well.

great teacher! He makes his class interesting, and hes a real funny guy. Theres a lot of papers but he helps you alot and give you so many chances to raise your grade. hes really cool, youd have to be really really lazy or really really stupid to fail this class.

HIS GREAT, I LOVE HIM!

All you do in his class is watch movies and tallk about them. Also, you have to choose a scene of a movie and do a fast speech on it in front of class while everybody grages you. Kind of intimidating. All in all he is a different teacher and I am sure everybody loves him. Easy class.

Where do I start? He's the bomb. I've taken three, and my sister has taken two of his classes. He taught me to write. He expects a lot, but teaches you so much. At the end of the semester his overall grading is kind. He gives fun extra credit too.

This guy is awesome. His class is easy but you still learn. He used to teach a class on Beatnick literature that was awesome.

He is a very entertaining guy. He is friendly, clear and easy to understand. He has a very colorful personality! Quite enjoyable.

You want to get an "A" then TAKE HIM. Hes super easy....Gives students the test questions before the tests....You just got 2 tests, a final, and a journal....Plus extra credit...He goes over every story he assigs...Just take notes an you'll pass all tests with 100.

super easy teacher. just do all of the journal entries and be in class for the exams. He gives 2 exams and a final. the only thing is get prepared to listen because he can talk A LOT!! but he is an esay A, if you do all the work.

King of Literature and Film!! He is passionate about the journals so please complete them along with the essays and two presentations. You will love his style of lecturing/teaching. I can't wait to take him for LIT 2120.

ok..first of all, u r gonna have 2 do a lot of work. especially the journals. his test r easy he gives u the Q before hand. so that wouldn't be a prob. but make sure u do the journals .. and u get an A :) yea

great professor! this is the 3rd class i took with him. i wont take a ENC or LIT class with anyone else. he is so helpful and easy if you just show up and do your journals. if you do your journal its hard to get anything besides an A. he talks a lot but tells a lot of stories and will never put you to sleep. def take him.

Really Nice, easy if you already know how to write. If you don't know how to write don't take the class. Keeping up with the journal is the hardest thing the whole year. Test are easy, very little study time is needed.

He is the best at what he does. He is a very friendly and extremely wise professor. This class is fun and you learn quite a bit about culture, race, and war.(Big movie fan). You do 2 speeches and they are really fun.. everybody claps and we all have a good time.. TAKE HIM... you wont regret it..

Just take him. He brings up good points and interesting subjects. You'll have to talk and speak up to pass.. that is part of the class. AWESOME professor. One of the best MDC has to offer.

The class consists of 4 essays and 2 final speech presentations!!! Its pretty easy and he is an awesome teacher!! Take the class.. you will pass!!! NO TESTS...NO WORRIES!!!

This professor is definitely "unique". He is very entertaining and its obvious that he loves what he does for a living. He's energetic and talkative. Class time goes by quickly. I am glad that I took this class for a humanities credit. Even though there was a lot of writing (30 pg. journal and 3 essay exams) I learned a lot about literature.

He is a very interesting person, to say the least. He's a funny character who's very informative and well versed on the subjects of Culture and Literature. His class is definitely not difficult! I guess my ONLY complaint was that he can be very detached sometimes, but all together, a great professor! You'd have to be an idiot to fail his class!

I took 5 classes with him, and he is the best. One of the most intriguing characters ever. Not only a great prof, but a great mentor that I still keep in very close contact with and will for the rest of my life. LOVE HIM!

He's a very smart person and loves talking. So energetic that class time goes by fast!! Too many assignments though. Keeping up with the journal was tough. But in all, a really great teacher and i highly recommend him!!

This class was super easy, it consisted lectures, movies, and listening to tapes. We had a few take home quizzes, but they had almost no weight(10%). The only important thing is the journel, which your suppose to have one written for class. If you do that then your good to go. Didn't agree with the teachers views, but he was very nice!

He was extremely interested in his students, and is a very easy going and fascinating professor.

He is a great teacher. As long as you read the literature and do the journals, you're set. He makes it easy. He enjoys himself so much with what he does and teaches, he gets your really into it. Big old hippie. I loved him.

I learned a lot about myself in this class. Keep your journal updated and write all the essays, oh and there's 2 presentations. I over came my fear of public speaking. This class is a breeze. the professor is great.. talks a lot though!

W0W! That is all i have to say about De Benedicts. He is a kick ass person, with a spunky attitude, and a fun loving spirit. He's one of those guys that are laid back and loves life. Very intelligent and very respectful. I HIGHLY recommend you take this guy. The class is not difficult at all. Really easy. You do have to speak in front of class.

I had him for Eng.1 and Issues in Lit. and culture. Now he really is a person that knows what hes talking about. Very wise, cool guy. Class wasn't hard. You will only get a bad grade if you literally do S**T. I mean, you gotta be a lazy ass Mutha F***a, because his work isn't hard. You do have to write a 50 pg. journal by the end of the term though

Needed 3 credits in humanities and took LIT 2380 with him...Sooooooo boring, the teacher is not too bad, but his class sucks and there is way too much to write, i don't think the Gordon rule is 30,000 words! Dropped this useless,tedious class and took MUL 2380 with Moulton instead, got an easy A and the material was way more interesting.Let go!

He answers all your questions and tells you exactly what to do. He is very helpful and knows his stuff. The class is fairly easy, just do the essays and journals, and you should be fine. But do all his assignments to get a better grade. There is a research project due at the end of the semester but no research paper.

Good professor, although you REALLY have to be into Beat Lit & jazz or else you won't enjoy it at all. Lots of films, a couple novels... he really knows his stuff, although it can get extremely boring sometimes. Extremely easy & fun A for me... just don't procrastinate on the journal.

Amazing professor, amazing class. I highly recommend taking him... It was easy for me to get an A because I enjoy writing papers(his are not long and they are easy) and because I enjoyed his class. One hint: DONT SLACK ON YOUR JOURNAL! If you leave it for the last minute, you will surely suffer from carpel tunnel. TAKE THIS CLASS, you will love it!

He has good intension but hes always talking and talking. Fun class. Took him from summer a, he was cool. The class was lack. Prepare to have to alter your writing skills because he makes you write real weird. (I happen to be a great writer according to other professors and he just loved to corrected my writing). EASY GRADE, DOWN TO EARTH!

Cool and weird teacher - in a good way. Explore interesting topics in all sorts of cultures. 5 essays, 2 oral presentations and a journal due at the end. Uses lots of movie clips to relate to culture. Likes to talk but I found it interesting. Wants to hear your opinions and likes class discussions. Funny guy good teacher :)

How much cooler can a prof get? This guy is very understandable down to earth and has a cool 70s vibe...His teaching methods are great movies and he is very corky....Excellent lectures...

This has been the best English professor i've EVER had. He really taught me how to write. You will actually LEARN in this class. He will tell you in detail what will get you an A. He is very flexible and will help you in any way that he can. He is funny and his class is not boring. About 5 or 6 essays, a final draft paper, and several easy quizzes.

Incredibly intelligent and easy going. If you want to build a solid foundation in writing I highly recommend this prof. He will break down the "formulas" for writing all different kinds of essays and if you put the effort, he will bring out the best in you. Not for slackers! 5 to 6 essays and research paper project. great professor, his test are easy bc before he gives you the test he goes over it and tells you the answers. you need to write 5 essays, a journal, and a research project. throughout the whole semester you basically breaks down how to write an essay and how to create ideas. very helpful and amazing professor. he knows his stuff

This professor is great, he is crystal clear with his lessons, he's entertaining and has great stories to tell in class because it took some time from the lesson...or so i thought, his story was actually a reflection of the lesson. You dont have to take notes much, but you must read the book and write in journal. GREAT, TAKE HIM!

I definitely recommend this teacher! He is amazing and is very knowledgeable on the stuff we cover in class. He lets you use your notes on the test and is very funny!!! You should def take the class its worth it :)

You have 2 exams where you answer 5 questions and one final with one question. You can bring in drafts and lets you use the book. You also have to do a journal with a min. of 25 entries. He's nice, funny, helpful if you don't understand something and very groovy (has a 60's vibe going on) :D

There are 4 essays, 2 speeches, and a journal. You need a min. amount of 25 journal entries. Only way to get extra credit is to do more journal entries. The speeches have to be 5 min. long and for the second speech, you can do it on anything you want (culture related). He's nice, funny, helpful, and just amazing :)

Great Professor, a lot of work and a lot of writing. Took course during summer an essay every week. There is a total of 2 speeches & 25 min journals. Loved the class. Got an A. Like I said before, a lot of reading is required.

Prof de benedictis is simply AMAZING! The class requires work as every class should as long as you do the essays and journals you'll be fine. He makes the class not only intresting but comforting i took this to cover speech and i loved every minute of it. If your not fond of public speaking he's the BEST prof to take it with.

Everything else is talking about different social/cultural topics during class and watching movies! Lenient, funny, and very helpful teacher. if you're an ok writer, this class is perfect. Book is necessary, though. Easy A

Awesome teacher!Super funny. you may seemed overwhelmed with work and essays(if you procrastinate) BUT you do learn and he gives you 1 class extra after the due date to get full credit ..sometimes more. Keep up with journal because it will bite you in the butt in the end.

If you're really into Contemporary American Literature, then this is the class for you. A lot of films to watch, books and poems to read, and journal entries to write. Although, he is very cool and helpful :)

This guy is so great! I loved his class. I took the 6 weeks class so there was a lot of work but he made it really really easy to get a good grade. And he was very patient with some really aggrivating students. He jst kept repeating himself until they got it. I hope I find more teachers like him. Oh and he doesn't mind if you come in a little late.

Great professor. Really knows what he's talking about. He really tries to show clips and bring up topics to get the class talking and debating. It's 2 oral presentations and 5 essays, and 31 journal entries. If you choose to write more journal entries he gives you extra credit for them. He was great!!

Honestly i never payed any attention during class and got B's on both tests. Dont fall back on the journals like i did though because it'll be IMPOSSIBLE to do them last minute.

He's a cool professor. His class is very boring though. He talks the entire time while you take notes if choose to. There were 3 exams. He gives you the question before hand. The exams are open book, open notes whatever handouts you have you can use. Fairly easy. Just boring...he knows his stuff though. Very bright guy.

He does give a lot of work but his work is super easy. He explains everything he wants on the essays like 50 times so its really not that hard to get a good grade. He talks about all these random things and random stories. I honestly HATE English but he made me enjoy the class :-) Highly recommend him !!

Honestly, he is a great professor. Extremely clear on his assignments and will repeat what he wants/needs from every one of them a thousand times, even joke about it. He truly makes a class that is potentially boring, really entertaining, he has a bunch of random cool stories. Best of all, he is pretty lenient about late work.

He was a great professor that really cares that u succeed. I passed his class with a B and as long as you do the homework and the research paper, whoch is worth 75% of your grade, then you're good. He doesn't even make you write the paper just an outline and a synopsis. That's it! Very easy class, glad i took it to finally pass ENC1101.

Very helpful professor. I'm glad I took the 12 week summer course instead of the 6 week. Just study, pass the reading quizzes (don't even read the essays) he goes over then before the quiz. Also, don't forget the research project and journal which is worth a huge percent of your grade. I passed ENC1101 on my first try with him

You'll definitely learn how to improve your writing and you'll never be bored in his class. You're either learning or laughing, or both! Great professor; would take again if I could.

Grades only essays. Very tough grader with the essays but anyone can pass as long as they're a good writer. Gives great feedback for the essays. Essays are fairly graded, you get what you deserve. However, is willing to help you on the essay before you turn it in. Lectures the whole class but has very interesting stories.

Really good professor and knows what he's talking about. He has no trouble talking for what seems like hours, but most of the time he makes the subjects interesting. He is not a tough grader and he gives you countless of opportunities to do whatever you want to do for the midterm and the final (which are speeches). Textbook is a must for HW only.

AWESOME teacher. Tough grader, but awesome with feedback. Midterm & final are 2 speeches but don't let that scare you, you could present on whatever you want. He is very bright, charming, open minded and possesses a quality of youthfulness despite his old age, so he is both wise and interesting. Not an "easy A", but a class that's worth it.

Like college classes in the movies. We just sit around discussing literature. I had read most of the stories we covered already, so you may also have. He is a tough grader. I usually get As on English papers, but I got Bs from him. Also, you have to keep a journal of your reading with at least 25 entries so it's pretty much work, but worth it.

The content and his discussions tend to get lost on a lot of people and can at times be boring, especially to non English savvy students, but he does his best to include personal stories and some humor into his discussions, which lighten the mood a bit. Extremely smart and caring. Just show some effort in the essays n journals & you'll pass easily.

Theres a lot of reading, but thats expected. Hes very funny, and has a lot of stories to tell and might sometimes get lost in them. Hes excellent, and worth taking!

There is a journal every day of class but theyre very short and are about relevant topics. Class consisted of 4 essays a research project and a final essay. This class was blended due to the pandemic, so he was getting used to it. I would recommend as it teaches you to write fast with the amount of essays you have to do. Also do his extra credit!

From my perspective, Michel De Benedictis is an amazing professor who mainly teaches about the structure of essays. He goes into detail paragraph by paragraph on how to make an essay and teaches several methods on structures of essays you can use. He is also a very nice professor and very charismatic with the cool stories he often tells in class.
