Shes not that bad. Lectures can be kind of boring. Her test isn't that hard. Just read "Ideas Are Free" and know the critical path method.
Fairly obnoxious, and disorganized. On the module exam, know the Critical Path Method, MPS, and productivity, and read "Ideas are Free." Seems to have trouble keeping her thoughts/lessons organized. Most things are pretty straightforward. RFC assignments are easy exam points. Also - dresses like it's 1990... it's weird.
Burch was my favorite of the three. Probably because her section was the most straight forward and not completely opinionated like Marx's section. Is she as good as Alan Robinson? No. But she is a fairly good stand in all things considered.
She was the best out of the three professors. She's the only one who cares about how each student does and is the only one who held a review session before the exam. She's nice and shows lots of videos during class. Definitely a great professor who really knows what she's talking about.
Don't stress over the Critical Path method! It is so much easier once you step back from it. Professor Burch was the only professor who I thought was very clear with expectations regarding the exams and class material out of the 3 teaching. Definitely recommend going to class when she is teaching.
Dr. Burch really knows her stuff. She is my favorite teacher at UMass, without a doubt! She really cares and wants you to learn. I wish they all were like her.
Dr. Burch is the best of the SOM. She is humble and the most approachable, I wish she taught more classes, She also seems more in touch than other profs. When ever I needed help, she was there. I also think she's hot! Her videos are interesting. The only bad thing is, she doesn't teach more classes. Seriously, awesome!
Love Michelle!! shes a really great teacher and goes over things very well to make sure everyone understands. great examples too. shes also very nice and cares alot about students!! her test was the best in the class and made the most sense
Very straight forward and gives all information in her power points so no need to get the book for her section of the class at least. Study power points and you're good to go for the exam. She's nice and super quirky. Overall good professor!
The HR portion of the class is all I've taken so far and it wasn't hard but this is hands down the most boring class that I've taken so far at school and that's saying a lot, especially coming from an accounting major. Make sure you bring your phone or something fun to entertain yourself.
her HR module was the most straight forward but theres SO much stuff you have to memorize. know everything on the slides because she can ask about random laws and acts. try to get something in the high 70s, low 80s and the extra credit should get you to an A. also will have to read the textbook. not easy but if you can memorize, not horrible either
Michelle is a wonderful teacher. The hw posted online was actually helpful although sometimes tedious. The powerpoint slides were a great tool, and all the lectures are online so I can always review them before the exam. Best part about the exams you can bring a cheat sheet, so no reason not to get an A in this class. Like her style shes funny.
Loved her and this class! Great professor, she's very knowledgeable and always clear. Lots of information but slides/class captures/book are online. She will also respond to emails in less than 24 hrs! She's funny and makes class engaging and entertaining. One of my favorite professors at UMass for sure.
Worst class I have ever taken. Her module (1st of 3)was the easiest though. Very boring material and a ridiculous amount of things to know/remember for exams, like acronyms & years of random laws.
She ask to read 5 books the semester I was in, and we had quiz every week. But later on I found the readings very useful and they lead you to some certification. She is very funny, and is very willing to help.
Michelle is so much fun! For an 8AM she knows how to make class interesting by cracking jokes left and right. Her exams are a cakewalk and she always lets you bring a cheat sheet. As long as you write the formula she gives you at least half the points. Anytime you're confused her office hours are great! Super funny and always willing to help!
Michelle is one of the best professors I have had in Isenberg so far. Going to class is important because it's her explanation of the concepts and how to understand performing the models that get you to learn the material. It's not enough to only copy formulas on your cheat sheet for exams. Homework can be tedious, but indicative of the exams.
Shes dope
Overall a good professor. Her lectures are fairly easy to follow and the subject matter is interesting. The tests aren't too difficult but you will have to keep up with material to do really well. Reading is not necessary to do well. There is homework but generally one assignment per week at most.
Simple class if you attend lecture & think about the powerpoint slides. You don't really need to take notes. Double-sided cheat sheet for all exams. 1 homework assignment per week with unlimited attempts. Most of the material is easy math, but if you struggle, she is willing to help. Never read the book, just used her ppt slides. Also, she's funny.
I recommend you print out all powerpoints before lecture, it will save you so much time later on. The homework can be tricky(ish), but the exams are easy because you get a cheat-sheet and tests are non-cumulative. Many people don't, but if you pay attention in class then it will make your life so much easier. She is great help in office hours, too.
Prof. Burch reminds me of Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec. She's just like Amy Poehler. Very dedicated, quirky, and you either love or hate her, right away. She knows her stuff and will work with you to help you succeed. Definitely the best professor I've had in any OIM class so far. Would recommend.
She honestly cares about the students and tries her best to reach out even though this is a huge lecture. She also loves the discipline itself, so it's interesting to hear out. Highly recommended to me, and I have too. Have changed my major to this field after Burch! So helpful, good energy, positive. Get the course workbook, textbook unnecessary
One of the best professors I've had a UMass. Extremely funny and friendly. Teaches the class in an organized fashion and is clear about everything. Communicates with students well. This class is all math based with a little bit of critical thinking.
tests are difficult. lectures are pointless. have to work a decent amount for an A but there is cheat sheet allowed for every test. Very nice woman
A very fair and honest teacher. Thought she did a nice job teaching the class. The class itself had a ton of reading and writing. Participation was a key part of the class.
Professor Burch is a very clear and succinct teacher who does a great job conveying the material. I feel I have gotten a lot out of her class. She makes good time with the lectures and keeps everyone engaged. Definitely would recommend taking her class.
Very clear and concise lecturer. Part of your grade is participating online in class via phone or computer which requires you to pay attention in class but it helps you learn the material. You get a cheat sheet for all exams, none are cumulative. If you make a good cheat sheet -- she has examples in her office -- it's very easy to ace this course.
Professor Burch really cares about the success of her students. She's funny, engaging, and very reasonable. Class can be boring, but just go through powerpoints before the exam and right down a ton of examples from the homework and notes on the cheat sheet and the tests will be no surprise. She's awesome!
Professor Burch is one of the best professors I've had at UMass. She really cares about the students learning and offers extra help for those who need it. There's 3 exams in total which are easy if you pay attention in class, review the powerpoints, and do the practice exams. It's not hard to get an A in this class.
Professor Burch is the best professor I've had at UMass by far. Funny, gets students, and extremely transparent when it comes to what she expects for the test. For OIM you literally have the same questions on the test that you did in lectures. So with a cheat sheet its hard not to get an A.
Burch is amazing! So caring and tries to keep students engaged. I would buy her powerpoints at the campus design store since she goes off of the powerpoints completely! Really recommend her class, you get to make a cheat sheet and her entire exam is partial credit.
Easy class and very nice lady. Grade is made up of homework, which can be taken until you get a 100%, participation (show up and do Tophat), and 3 exams. The exams don't have trick questions, and are similar to the practice exams. Put time into making your cheat sheet for each exam and it's an easy A.
One of the best professors I have had in Isenberg. Professor Burch is an extremely fair grader and gives partial credit on exams as well as allowing a cheat sheet. Everything you need to know is on the slides and she is always willing to help you out. Material can be tricky but everything is very straightforward and explained well. Would recommend.
Very very easy class. Burch is an awesome prof who clearly wants to see her students succeed. Lectures can be boring and are mandatory, but she puts the ECHOs online to rewatch. Practice exam is just like the exam & she allows a cheat sheet. Homework once a week, always accessible for help. Overall very easy A
Attendance via top hat (phone app) and all lectures videorecorded online with all powerpoints. infinite tries on pearson hw. full page cheat sheet for tests. literally can scheme an A without showingup to class if you put in 2 hours a week tops. she's really chill, great at explaining, and low key funny. easiest class, as long as you understand it
I wish I could actually give professors a grade because PROFESSOR BURCH DESERVES AN A+++++++++++++ ALL THE WAY! She is so awesome, as long as you do the hw and make a good cheatsheet (including hw questions you don't know and the practice exam, then you will be fineeeeee! :)
She is amazing! Very clear, helpful, and really wants you to learn. She grades all of her exams by hand so that she can give partial credit, and really tries to make the class as interesting as she can. By far my favorite professor I've had in Isenberg
Michelle is awesome! I didn't really pay attention to her class but she is really funny and heartwarming like a cool mom
To sum up this class, if we didn't get to have a cheat sheet it would be impossible to pass. The hardest part about this class is making the cheat sheets. I will say that for the first two exams, she barely gives you enough time. Most people finish after the class time has ended which can be very stressful. For homework, the MyOM labs are simple.
Like OIM210, OIM 301 is very easy. Burch makes the class much more energetic than it should be, which makes it easier to show up. TopHat will cost you a good amount and there's questions every lecture, so you have to show up. Cheat sheet on the test is big, with the test being just like the practice exams. Hard not to get an A.
Michele has to be the most energetic and positive professor at Isenberg. She wants everyone to succeed! She lets you use a cheat sheet for exams and the homework has an unlimited number of tries. The exams are practically the practice exams, but look over the power points right before an exam just incase! Never studied except for the night before
Michelle is the best professor I've ever had at UMass. Would highly recommend taking her courses because they are interesting and fun to learn about. You have to read the assigned books to do well but it isn't bad since you're learning useful information.
Makes a pretty dry subject interesting! Unlimited tries on homework and class is mandatory because of TopHat, but she makes them lively enough. Tests are pretty easy due to a cheat sheet. Very nice and helpful in office hours. Didn't end up needing textbook material but the hw is online so i bought it anyway. Most learning self-taught thru HW
One of the best professors in Isenberg and at UMass Amherst!!! If you can't get OIM 301 with Michele Burch, wait to take it. Her lectures are pretty straight forward and she always goes over what will be on exams. Regardless, she lets you have a cheat sheet on the exam so that also helps. She is funny and understands her students.
Class is very easy if you go to class and actually pay attention. Problems on exams are identical to class and HW problems so pay attention. Class takes a little bit of work, but if you do it you will easily get an A
Michele is a super nice teacher- kinda like a cool mom. 3 exams, each 25% of the grade, but you can bring a double sided cheat sheet with all the formulas (the exams consist of 5 math problems). Homework is tedious, but you get unlimited tries to get 100% (worth 20% of final grade) and is very close to the problems on exams. Not too hard!
Michele may be a great professor in a live classroom setting, but her online class etiquette is lacking. She takes weeks to grade discussion threads and we're still waiting on the final project to be graded, with final grades due in a few days. This impacts tuition assistance for folks that are company sponsored.
Great class, not too much work. She does a good job in keeping us interested during long lectures and is very understanding. Exams are easy as they are similar to home works and examples in class. Just put the effort in and you will get a good grade.
Michele is a very nice woman who tries to make her lectures as exciting as possible. Class participation is required via tophat, but not bad at all. Grade consists of weekly homework, three exams, and participation. You are allowed a double sided cheat sheet for the exam, which is very helpful. Tests are just like practice exams.
Michele is one of the best Profs I've had. Her lectures are very similar to what's on the exams. Cheat sheet is allowed for exams and it's very helpful. Exams are pretty easy, but definitely pay attention in class and go to her if you're confused. She is very helpful and is very sweet and caring. Great professor.
Cheat sheets on exams! She just wants everyone to do well.
Pointless equations that could be done in an excel spreadsheet but she makes you do them out yourself. There are 3 tests worth 75%, cheat sheet, but every exam has 1 problem that isn't on the practice exam that's worth 20% of the test. Unless you are able to have microscopic handwriting you won't fit every equation and will be shafted.
SLOW SLOW SLOW grading. 3/4 through the class and received only one of seven grades, despite six being submitted. You dont know if hitting the mark on responses since no grade. Reached out twice via email, no response
The class was only easy because you get a cheat sheet on all tests and unlimited hw tries. If it wasn't for that this class would be impossible. She really wants you to do well in this class. I wish she did not take attendance because lectures are pointless and boring, she post slides online so I used class as time for other homework. Chegg for hw.
Not gonna lie this OIM class was tough, but she is a great teacher and cares about learning.
I really liked Michele. She was funny and does remind me of Leslie Knope haha. The lectures are mandatory but not a struggle to sit through. The homework is kinda hard but if you have a chegg you will be golden. The exams are difficult but study the practice exam and slides to do well. This class is easy if you are good at math, if not oops gluck!
Professor Burch is the only one who teaches OIM301 so ur stuck with her. There are 3 exams total with 5 questions on each one and you're allowed a double sided cheat sheet for these. Exams are graded by TAs who will give you as many points possible if you show ur work and formulas. We went online so there was no partial credit and it tanked my grad
I love her she is my favorite professor at Isenberg. You have one presentation, no exams, quizzes every week on the readings and they aren't bad at all and a group project
As someone who doesn't like OIM, this class wasn't awful. I hated the material but she did a good job of explaining it. Cheatsheet for every exam and there are no surprises. Go to lecture, do the homework, and write your notes from lecture on the sheet and you'll pass. Tophats are annoying but they're your participation grade. Super accommodating.
Professor Burch is a nice teacher who is also funny. The only thing is that her lectures can get kind of boring and you have to really pay attention and stay engaged to understand the material. She also does lecture questions so you have to view every lecture in its entirety.
Michele isnt a regular mom, shes a cool mom. She explains the problems in ways that make sense logically, which was helpful since Im not a math person. She lets you bring a cheat sheet to the exams and the exam questions are really similar to whats on our homework - she doesnt try to trick you. Highly recommend taking this class with her!
Professor Burch is the best professor I've had in college so far. She does such a great job of explaining material to her students and does a great job spacing out work outside of class so you don't feel too overwhelmed. She is funny and relatable and really wants to see her students succeed. The cheat sheet on exams is a bonus too!!
I really like her teaching style and how she does participation. Literally one of the only classes thats not a joke and I actually learn stuff thats beneficial. Also exams are easy because we get a cheat sheet which is very helpful. Honestly no complaints for this class.
Taking this class online is near impossible because she posts old lecture videos, when the exam format was different due to in person classes. Exam reviews and lecture content don't correlate with the exams online which makes learning difficult. Although she is nice, she flies through examples in class. Only saving grace are exam cheat sheets.
Michele is a super kind teacher but her grading is kinda rough. There are 4 exams and no extra credit. If you screw up on one exam, you won't be passing. The class in mandatory so you much go to class. Homework takes up to 2 to 3 hours but you can go to office hours for help. Cheat sheets are allowed on exams. Overall you gotta work for your grade.
Attendance is mandatory but she tries to make it as enjoyable as she can, really fun prof. Homework is doable but if you need help there's office hours. Exams were straightforward as long as you study and understand the concepts. She lets you use cheat sheets, front and back. If you do the work you will get an A, its college, just do the work.
Disregard anyone saying the class is hard, only downside is mandatory attendance for a lecture. I skipped every class after exam1 + did not complete every hw, then used the extra credit hw +did well on the last 2 exams & comfortably got an A. Barely knew her but she seemed nice. The study guides are almost exactly the same as the exam, dont be dumb
Solid professor with great knowledge. Do the work and you will be ok.
Burch is great OIM301 will be a shock because it's the hardest of the 301s. Theres a lot of complex topics that take some effort to understand. Attendance isn't required BUT you don't want to fall behind Burch makes a possibly challenging topic enjoyable and easier. She's very approachable. I changed my major to OIM from MGMT after this class.
One of my favorite classes in the MBA program, mainly because of the subject matter. No textbooks used, but 5 books that can be listened to or added to a Kindle. Interesting (and short) lectures with accompanying videos. Grades are based on discussion participation, two small "projects" or summaries, and one final project. Definitely recommend!
I thought she was a great professor
Prof. Burch gave so many opportunities to do well and get the grade you want while still learning. She made the class way more interesting than I thought it would be.
She makes class so interesting and she is so funny. Decently easy class and homework is manageable and really helpful. Exams have cheat sheets and are like the practice exam. Definitely recommend!
Isenberg is filled with very easy classes with teachers that give less effort to their students. Michele Burch goes the extra mile, conducting in-person exams that are moderately challenging and forcing you to really master the content. BBL is very clear, highly organized, and clearly cares about students. Moderate challenge but manageable
Professor Burch is an enthusiastic, quirky lecturer who clearly cares about the subject matter she teaches. Never brings dull energy. If you pay attention to the slides, and more importantly can apply them to the homeworks / organize the important formulas, you'll pass with flying colors easily.
She made it interesting and fun to learn. She kept class entertaining while also managing to keep it on topic. She is the reason I switched my major; she inspires interest in the major and career. This course is built for you to succeed.
Michele Burch is THAT girl. Taking this class with anyone else would be a waste to be honest. HW is worth 35% of your final grade and you get unlimited attempts, plus a bonus homework where you can get over an 100 for your hw average. Moderate challenge but she is so sweet and accommodating. Go to class for tophat, worth 5% of final grade! Love her
Professor Burch is the absolute best! She explains all the material clearly, and she is always willing to help. The class has three exams and as long as you pay attention, you'll do well. Plus homework and participation is worth 40% so you have a ton of opportunities to do well if you don't do good on the exams.
I took OIM this past semester and I loved prof. Burch, she sometimes tries too hard to be funny and it can be awkward sometimes but overall she's a great teacher and the TA office hours are really helpful and she wants her students to do well. The homework assignments are great practice and she lets you have a cheat sheet on the exams.
This was one of the most useful courses I've taken in Isenberg to date. The team project in collaboration with Dell Technologies is so helpful in terms of gaining tangible experience providing recommendations for a company to enhance efficiency in processes! Really interesting material, makes the work fun, and is an overall joy to have as a prof.
Prof Burch was a great professor who teaches very well. It can feel like the lectures are dragging on sometimes. The HW is very helpful for the exams. She goes over the practice exams in class, which is really helpful. She also allows you to have cheat sheets for the exams.
I really enjoyed this class. The homework did take a while to do every week, however it was worth a large percentage of the grade which helped raise my grade. The exams were moderately challenging, but you got a cheat sheet and she really helped you prepare for them. Overall, I would definitely recommend taking this class with professor Burch!
Burch is a great teacher that wants to help the whole class succeed. Homeworks were very quick each week and then the 3 tests didn't take much prep plus you get a cheat sheet. She goes over a practice test that is basically the same as the real test. She's a fun lecturer but the content is dragged on, so you could just do the homework in class.
Professor Burch is very kind and passionate about the subject. The homework is very beneficial, I learned mostly from doing those problems. Exams were challenging, but having a cheat sheet was super helpful (the exams are a lot like the practice exams, so I would recommend putting those problems on your cheat sheet)!
Professor Burch is a great professor who wants you to do well. 3 exams (60%) and homework (35%) make up your grade along with Top Hat. Exams can be challenging, but cheat sheet helps. Practice exam is similar to real exam. She tries to make it as interactive/entertaining as she can early in morning. Overall, she is funny and makes it a good class.
literally doesnt teach just yaps the whole lecture i dropped this class
Big yapper and gets sidetracked, but the class is set up for you to succeed. Exams are similar to practice exams, and you get a whole double-sided cheat sheet. As long as you do the homework and have a good cheat sheet, you'll do fine on the exams. Tophat is mandatory and you have to get it right for credit, but she gives out the answers in class.
Professor Burch is one of the highest-rated professors at Isenberg, and for good reason. You can miss two classes but beyond that, you will lose participation points for the top hat so show up to class. Exams are fairly easy and allow an 8.5 x 11 double-sided cheat sheet which must be handwritten and turned in with the exam. Homework can be tough.
Michele Burch thinks she is charming... she is not. Even though this class is mandatory, it is the worlds most useless content if you are not an OIM major. The tests are just like the practice exams and she rewards having good cheat sheets. Also, buckle up for the homework! It is nothing like the examples from classes. Good luck!
Definitely yaps and gets sidetracked, but she's trying to keep you engaged for an hour 15 minutes. 3 exams are straight forward and you get a cheat sheet. Homework is usually very different from how you are taught in class for no reason- but not too difficult.
Tests are the same as the practice exams, course is relatively easy if you pay attention. Homework is 35% of your grade and it's all busy work that takes forever. Offers no extra credit.
I loved her class! She cares that you learn the material, and is great at teaching it. Pay attention in class, keep up with the work, and make a good cheat sheet to study and you should do great in the class. It's pretty easy material overall, just need to focus.
Super nice professor, the class is on the more difficult side especially for an intro class / requirement for all majors. She is forgiving with the grading on exams, lots of partial credit. Fair class, just requires lots of effort.
Prof Burch is a good professor, but you just need to pay attention. Definitely go to office hours they can be really helpful in understanding the content because it is challenging. Exams are nothing like the practice exams, so work on your cheat sheet thoroughly. As long as you understand the content, you will be fine.
She communicated the information clearly and allowed cheat sheets for every exam. The content wasn't extremely difficult but it did require a bit of studying, but she offered a lot of resources. Every lecture is recorded but attendance via TopHat is required. Great teacher, funny, and enthusiastic. Would recommend.
Professor Burch is a great professor and allows students to understand each of the concepts. Provides a lot of examples for each of the questions and gives students many opportunities to receive help. Tests are graded very fairly, and the instructor explains how to do certain homework problems during class.
Professor Burch is awesome and teaches this class very well. All homework can be done as many times as needed, so is an easy 100. Exams allow for a two-sided cheat sheet for all notes, so as long as you have good notes on your cheat sheet, it should be pretty straightforward. Attendance is done in TopHat, and you get 2 free absences.
Professor Burch is very knowledgeable about OIM and has a clear passion for teaching others about the field. She has a great personality and connects well with students. The class is not the easiest, but if you put in some effort, you will be just fine. There are plenty of office hours as well so the support is there if you need it.
Professor Burch makes this required class pretty manageable. Exams are straightforward with cheat sheets, but the homework can be a slog. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for study prep!
Professor Burch is one of my favorite professors at Isenberg so far! I am taking her right now for OIM301 and while the material is difficult she includes a lot of good examples. There are 3 exams and you get to bring a double sided cheat sheet w/ notes to help you. Attendance is required through TopHat. I highly recommend taking her for 301.
All the homework is online and there isn't much. There are a lot of office hours and I highly recommend to attend them. She gives a full page, front and back, as a cheat sheet for the exams, there are three of them. She also gives a practice exam which is fairly similar to the real one. She also gives partial credit on exams, taken on paper.
I would definitely recommend professor Burch. She makes class entertaining and is pretty funny. The homework can be difficult but not impossible. There are three exams that are pretty similar to the exam review that she goes over. You are allowed to use a double sided cheat sheet. You definitely will have to put some effort in to succeed.
Professor Burch was caring, understanding, and funny. I got a bad grade because I struggled with understanding OIM and the material. The professor was amazing and I'd definitely take another course of hers. She gives as much credit as she can. Only downside was in person, long, paper exams.
This class sucks. actually dont take it, i love michele as a prof which is why i took the class, but she does not teach in this class at all. on tuesdays the other students in the class present random projects for the whole class and she does not teach. on thursdays she gives you a reading quiz after you had to read 150 pgs/wk of textbook. it sucks
This class is not hard. While the prof is a nice person, she is definitely not a good teacher. She made things more confusing. There was an instance I did homework myself even before I listen to the lecture and I did it with ease. After listening to her lecture, I don't understand how to do the problem I was able to solve myself.
Prof Burch is just super nice, clear, and brings good energy to her lectures. The content is really easy if you just pay attention and do the homeworks. She permits a double sided cheat sheet, so make sure to put effort into it, and you'll do just fine on the tests. Provides ample examples and time to prepare. Easy class, great professor!
She's a great professor who truly cares about her students' success. If you pay attention in class and watch back lectures for parts you don't understand, you'll do well.
Lectures are not very good. Talks about irrelevant stuff. Homework help is not very helpful. Exams are long for the 2 hr window.
OIM 301 is not an easy class, but if you try and truly care you will do well. Michele is sweet and cares about her students, and shes funny too. Attend lectures, go to office hours, and watch her echos she posts and you will be fine. It's challenging but doable and she is the best professor out there
It is very hard to see the class exam. After grading, you can't have a look on it, and obviously you can't learn from your mistakes. I requested to have a look on my exam and the prof told me to come a month later to see it... She is nice, but the lecture is very NOT helpful. Students need more in depth explanation of each concepts and processes.
