A very nice professor who really knows her stuff. Class is well organized and easy to follow.

Her classes are always interesting and she makes the material very understandable. Her smile also brightens up the classroom as well.

Had her for general psych and she was such a good teacher that I requested her for abnormal psych. She took an interest in helping the students and made the classes fun. I always looked forward to going to her classes.

She is a great teacher, very interested in the subject, and the students. She knows her stuff really well, and teaches in a way that is easy to follow. She's nice, makes you want to go to class and is the reason I am a psyc major now.

Shes a great prof. she has real life experience and knows what shes talking about. Show up to class and DO THE READING and you'll do fine. Invest in the book, you will need it!

I agree with some of the other students that you should make sure to get on her good side. She plays favorites and can be nasty at times. Otherwise she's not the worst professor I've had.

I think Prof CM is the best prof I have had. She has the funniest stories that relate to psych. You don't even realize that you are learning- because it is so much fun! She does have high expectations, but she is willing to help you if you need it!

Professor Catone-Matino is the greatest professor ever. She has the funny stories. She is histerical. She also shows clips from youtube & discusses all the abnormal stuff happening in the world! Definitely a must to take!

I learned so much in this class. Very nice, funny, makes the material understandable. Tests are moderately difficult but if you really study, you'll get a B or above. Research paper was very easy, you get to pick your own topic. I got an A on it. Didn't see any favoritism in my class, she was always very nice (even to those who came in late).

Loved her, couldn't wait to hear her stories and loved to see what she would wear! She actually knows her stuff and keeps your interest. Very funny. Listen and read & you can get an A.

Took her abnormal psy. class years ago but it was really good, and she really inspired interest in the subject. Psy. became my major in a 4 year school and her class was a great foundation. Awesome teacher.

She makes class fun, she is hysterical. However, her tests require a lot of studying on your own time. You need to read every chapter because the tests have questions that come right from the text, that she never mentions in class.

I took her for online and it was very easy. U can easily get a "B" or a "A" for her class. She only have one assignment throught the whole year. DB interesting and fun to see what people views are. Quizzes are cake but it's every week and test is not bad. She has her test every five ch.

She was a very fun professor. Always opened the class with whats going on in our lives and news that affects us, which led to open and honest discussions that everyone participated in. Before you know it, class is over. Textbook came in handy, but if you don't want to splurge then you can borrow someone else s for a night to photocopy whats needed.

She's awesome! Took Abnormal Psych with her, and when she teaches, she uses examples from her own life and private practice when explaining different disorders. She's hilarious, and really cares about us. Her tests are very easy- just read through your notes a few times and you'll be fine. I stopped using the textbook, because you rarely need it.

She is amazing. As a student in the Psych sequence here, and having taken her for Psych210 last semester, I chose adolescent psych just to take another course with her. She's funny, responsive and involved on a personal level. You do have to pay attention; 4-5 of tests, a couple 2 page papers, and one 5 pager. Easy class as long as you show up.

This class made up my mind about my major. She's amazing - has tons of personal field experience that she shares in class. Cannot rave enough about this class. I recommend it to everyone I can. Take notes and pay attention and you'll pass no problem. Very involved and responsive to her students.

I needed to take abnormal psych. for my nursing major, and I am so glad I took it with Prof. Catone- Maitino! Her syllabus is clear of what she expects from you, and she gives you plenty of time to complete everything. You will need your textbook, and make sure you read/post on the DB! If you are taking online, definitely meet her, she is so nice!

I really enjoyed this professor and her class. I never dreaded going to her class. The hardest thing that we had to do in the class was a five page paper but she gave us the information and what it was going to be on during syllabus week. If you attend the lectures you will pass the tests.

Professor Michele Catone-Maitino is one of the loveliest people you will meet at Hudson Valley. She is truly an exceptional professor who cares about her students. I can't say enough how much I recommend her.

I really enjoyed Michele's class. She was inspirational and helpful through everything. She is one of those people who can capture you into every lecture and make you love going to class. There was always something to look forward to. All the homework and projects were fun because they were so easy to relate to for students. Very experienced!

Took online for abnormal psych-3 tests -1-3 quizzes per week -and a 4-6 page paper -weekly postings as well - learned a lot in a short amount of time -follow the syllabus and you will get a good grade

No exact grade yet, but got between high B and low A, so 85-92 overall. Textbook isn't exactly mandatory, but great to study from. If you're going the lecture-only route, TAKE GOOD NOTES. Hilarious and kind, taking her again for Adolescent. Show up to class, her lectures are amazing and help a lot. Very engaging, and answers all questions as needed

I love her so much. She was so accessible and helpful. She drops your lowest test grade and they're not hard so I chose to just not show up for one test. Last test was take home. Midterm and final not too hard, but study. I didn't use my book at all, def not necessary. She is so kind and brings her career experience into lecture often.

Shes so awesome! I made sure that my next psych class was with her! Shes so informative and caring, always says hi to everyone that comes in. You dont really need the textbook except for when you study for a test. Essays come up quickly but other than that shes amazing! Did I mention the last week of classes she brought cookies and cold milk?

Professor Catone-Maitino is the best Professor I have ever had at HVCC. She is kind, funny, caring, thoughtful, and most importantly has a love for teaching. Professor inspired me to consider the field of teaching and was a true inspiration for me. She will have a lasting impression on me when I think back on my memories of HVCC. HIGHLY recommend!

Professor CM is THE BEST PROFESSOR AT HVCC! She is a professor who cares about you and will personally help you get an A. Her lectures are hilarious+easy to understand and she reviews for every test. Textbook is helpful but not needed. 5 MC tests (drop lowest) and final paper. Never met a better professor! Take this class; you will LOVE it :)

She is a super nice lady that clearly cares about her students and teaching what she loves. She won't try to trick you and highlights the most important part of each chapter/topic. By far a top 5 teacher I've had since elementary school. Overall, I can't really find any faults with her, which says a lot as somebody that doesn't enjoy school

Amazing Professor. While teaching mental health, she expresses her care for the mental health of her students, saying that no one has to live with mental disorders. She is definetly truly kind and caring toward her students. Module test each week. Write notes from the textbook, study, and youll be okay. It was a really easy and interesting class.

Weekly readings and tests, a few DBs, and a final research paper. Easy class. Follow along with her notes and watch her video lectures! Some important info in those that are NOT in her notes! Do these things and you'll be fine. She is kind and responds quickly to emails if you have any questions.

Overall, she's a pretty great professor and keeps the content interesting. Each week there's readings and a test that's pretty easy and there was no midterm or final. The research paper wasn't hard. She's got pre-chosen topics, or you can pick your own. If you watch her lectures and participate in the class discussions, you'll pass no problem.

Amazing professor. Every week you receive an email from the professor outlining what is due for the week. You must get the textbook because the homework relies on textbook material and chapters. The professor puts out study guides as well to help study for the test. It was a very fun and interesting class :)

My advisor recommended this professor because I was, and still am, considering a late-life career change. ! I sincerely appreciated the interaction last semester and opted to take PSYC210 with Prof. CM this semester. Three words: pleasant, helpful, and motivational! Her enthusiasm for psychology and for teaching shines through in her lectures!
