Dr. Edward's got great energy for teaching. Her personality makes boring subjects much more intresting. You will learn something in her class, but have fun at the same time. She's very helpful and friendly outside of class - plus she's got a great fashion sense!
Don't be one second late. When she says she starts class at 10 she really means 9:58.
AMAZING!
Dr. Edwards is an excellent prof. She enjoys what she does, sometimes a little moody tho...but is always a good sport with the jokes. A little anal about attendance, but it seems that if you make an effort to keep her informed via email, she's willing to work with you. She has zero tolerance for people who make a habit of coming late to class.
At first her class appears to be pretty tough and difficult, but if you just follow her instructions its pretty much an easy a. For example if she says for girls to absolutely not wear short skirts, dont wear it & then wonder why she took off points. She tells you exactly how she grades also & it is very easy to receive perfects on all assignments
She is a firecracker. I made the mistake of taking this class in the morning and it has made me very miserable. The class is easy as long as you take the notes on her horrendous powerpoints. The group projects are easy, and the papers are easy. She said we were going to have guest speakers but they never came. Take the class in the PM, not AM.
this class was very sociable with alot of open discussion and group work. it was ok

this teacher is aight def hyper and needs a heavy dosage of chill pills. thought she was cool at 1st but then her nit picking got very annoying. if you gonna get this teacher bring a set of ear plugs and a high tolerance.
this teacher was ok. you can tell who she likes and dislikes in her class no matter how hard she tries to cover it up but i bet the feelin is mutual. open discussion is good but sometimes her ignorance makes her comments seen bias
communication book: $90 - communication class: $900 - supplies for class: $20 - having a professor talk you to death: priceless. For everything in life you can't buy - shoot your self before you take this class
she gets on my nerves sometimes but i think she means well and yes she is very picky about presentations.lol
A monkey could teach this class better then her. All she does is talk about non relevant happenenings. Definitly has favorites and doesnt hide that at all. Wouldnt take her for any class before 2 that voice will make you contemplate going every single day you have her. A in this class is pretty much out of the question
Good class. Good prof. The book is okay.
yeah. teacher is very picky but she is fair.
Awesome teacher! Very enthusiastic about teaching and grades fair.
I had a 100% at midterm and somehow had a B final. I think this is because her annoying voice increased my hangovers 10 fold and she could see my pain.
Lectures are boring, she cannot teach very well. She has her favorites in the class and it is very obvious. She grades very weird, had high grade at mid-term, and ended up with low grade somehow???? I wouldn't take her class.
Dr. Edwards is a really good teacher. She is stern but wiling to help. She gets to know your name and makes you want to take her again. I would recommend anybody taking her who is not afraid of some work. She is sincere and seems to be a great person.
i love this class! edwards is so great and enjoyable to have as a teacher and she is good at explaining things...we know exactly what we need to do to do well in the class and she is always willing to help if you visit her in her office...great class!
She is the greatest proffesor ever!
Dr. Edwards is an awesome teacher. She is pretty strict, but you'll always know what she wants out of an assignment. Definitely take her more than once!
Her tests and project grading are very fair....which is more than I can say for some other teachers at this school who want to teach their undergrads like they are graduates. Very enthusiastic!
Great prof! Loved her class. I enjoyed coming to class every day and also did great. Def. be one of my top picks for professors at RMU.
She seems to pick favorites and aslo doesn't respond well to emails regarding grades. She would not explain anything regarding my final grade and was very short in her emails. I had a number of people drop her class due to her the way she acts towards certain students.
This woman is compleatly worthless. She talks about her kids all class, does not help if you ask for it and picks favorites within the first week. Don't take her if you want to learn anything.
Dr. Edwards is a solid teacher although all of your knowledge will be developed through multiple group projects not through classroom learning. Simply follow her guidelines and a good grade is inevitable. She is a very nice and helpful person all around. Good Looking Too!
Dr. Edwards is clearly caught up in her Sewickley lifestyle. She is very full of herself and grades not upon quality of work, but rather her personal opinion on you. If you don't come from the upper class and have your white collar perfectly straight, do not take Dr. Edwards.

Don't take her unless you have to. A monkey could read the book and teach the class better....and be less annoying while doing it.
Bad teacher all around. Her classes are a total waste of money. Has favs and talks about her kids all class. Doesn't know much about anything either.
she only talks about her kids at the beginning of class, so i dont see why everyone has such a problem with it. lets you know everything she expects from an assignment and isnt boring at all. what more can a student ask for? if i was interested in communications, i would take her class again.
Best three hour class ever! Goes quickly thanks to Dr. Edwards balance of being personable and getting stuff done. Projects are sometimes demanding, but extremely clear. An easy A if you just follow the instructions. Not a fan of the books, but huge fan of the professor!
Dr. Edwards is awesome. A lot of teachers at RMU do not care that you dont do your work or show up to class. Dr. Edwards cares only because we're paying for it and we should get the best out of it. Also, I dont think she picks favorites. She has had people for many classes and knows them better. Thats not favoritism. She is amazing and very helpful
She keeps the class interested primarily by getting off topic. Her tests are average and she does offer a study guide; however, she does not review the material during class. Her projects require a bit of work but she is clear on her directions and is willing to offer help outside of class.
Dr. Edwards is one of the better professors at RMU. Her classes are interesting, she relates the course content to real-life communication, and she is very funny. Sometimes the projects require a bit of work, but she tells you exactly what she's looking for and how she's grading. I would take her for as many classes as possible!
By far the best Comm professor at RMU. Take her! You'll work your butt off, but it will be so worth it. She's funny, friendly, HELPFUL, and very smart. Get to know her too b/c she's a great contact to have.
Great teacher that really cares about the students success. You have to work for the grade but it will be worth it.
Dr. Edwards is an excellent professor! She truly cares about her students and is always available for help. Her assignments do involve work. However, she tells you exactly what she wants to see in the assignments and if you do it you will get an A. Plus, you will actually learn something from them. I highly reccomend taking her classes!
Dr. Edwards is a great professor, who really does care about her students. The workload is tough, and she makes you work for your grade, but it's worth it. She tells you what she wants, and grades from that. Willing to help whenever, I would suggest taking her class.
The tests were not the easiest but after the first you know whats expected of you for the rest of the semester. Edwards is entertaining and when she says email or come to my office for help she means it and does help! She is good at what she does you just have to show up do the work and show her respect, just like any legit professor!
Great professor. Very helpful!
She loves to talk about yerself and all her past experiences. She is so annoying. She claims that she is helpful, but if she stopped tooting her own horn for 10 minutes she would realize she's not all that great. i really could just not handle this professor, and I have her again! Ahhh!
Extremely helpful. keeps class interesting. tests are hard but everything else is pretty easy. very fun professor, makes class fun, tells personal stories that are funny and still relate to class. GREAT TEACHER, take her as many times as you can
Extremely helpful. One of the best teachers here at RMU. Cares about her students
Extremely helpful professor that creates a loving and warm enviornment for all of her students by keeping the class light and funny. All examples used from her past experiences are funny and easy to apply and students also get to add a lot of feedback to the class making it easy to get involved.
Dr. Edwards' class is the one class in my day that I actually look forward to going to. She is really fun, insightful, and extremely helpful. I would recommend her class to anyone. Dr. Edwards is awesome and probably one of the best professors at RMU!
I love Dr. Edwards' class! Each class she involves the students with a class discussion which is both relevant to class work material and often times quite entertaining! I look forward to her Interpersonal and Small Group course next semester and would encourage students to grab a spot in her classes before they fill up :)
Awesome!! she is easily my favorite teacher at RMU. very personable and helpful. Great Class!!
Dr. Edwards is fantastic. I had her for my 1st 3 semesters at RMU and always looked forward to class. Wonderful person and wonderful professor.
Do not listen to any of these people saying she is a great teacher! she plays favorites and talks about her kids all class, then penalizes you for her not noticing something on your project. She is so dumb and is the only teacher for certain comm classes. Try to avoid her if possible!
great teacher! always available for help if you need it. make sure you dont skip her class.. she WILL call you!
All she does is talk about her kids and how amazing they are. projects are confusing because she gives no detail and hardly answers questions. if you ask a question she gives very vague answers. wouldn't recommend her.
she talks about herself so much if you walk out she will barely notice
First class in my life I've come close to failing. Her instructions are unclear, her class consists of stories about her kids, and only her favorites get good presentation grades. Entire grade based off two presentations and a final. She won't teach you enough to be ready for the final though, so I would avoid her at all costs.
If you see her name on the class, YOU BETTER RUN FOR THE HILLS! She is a terrible professor. She is no help. She is on her phone the entire time you present your group project. Her class IS a group project. No teaching. She likes to talk about her and her kids 95% of the time. Waste of time and money. She is the reason I would transfer from here.
Edwards has a clear grading standard. If you follow that, you will be just fine. Also, an overall great person. She opens up lots of awesome conversations and really relates to her students. Easily, one of my favorite professors.
Ask for help and clarity if you don't understand what is going on and she will gladly give it. She likes to talk a lot and sometimes gets off topic when having fun with students. I wish there was more lecture on subjects in the book and less "final project workshops" which while nice makes me feel like i'm wasting my time.
Truly amazed that this woman has a teaching career. The class should be renamed "Michele Edwards 101" because like all of the other comments stated, she only talks about her personal life. The grading scale is an absolute joke. She plays favorites with the students who kiss up to her and make her feel like she's actually funny. Dont take this class
The group projects she assigns are obnoxious and pointless. Every bullet point on a PowerPoint slide somehow relates back to her kids. The midterm studyguide is okay, but she still includes material from the textbook that you never went over. Her class is no fun, but if you are a comm major, you will not be able to avoid her.
A lot of people complain about Dr. Edwards, but her class was pretty simple if you just did what she assigned and took notes in class. There are 2 group projects and a midterm, which she gives you a study guide for. The class is boring and repetitive but not too bad.
Edwards didn't teach for the majority of the second half of the semester. We spent most of our time on group projects. The rumors are true, she only talks about her kids. Ryan and Reese. You won't learn anything. Don't buy the book. You only get a couple grades: the midterm and two group projects. She's also pretty rude and unprofessional. Easy A.
I can not believe I paid tuition dollars to listen to this woman's unauthorized autobiography. You will learn absolutely nothing in this class and she is rude and unprofessional, even threatening to take phones away like hs, which I don't even think a prof can do She will expect students to teach the class with their "examples" of the day's topic.
She seems to mean well to students and often checks in with you in case you need any help which I appreciated. My only gripes with her are that the two papers are outrageous (guidelines are overly-specific) and she will interrupt you in the middle of your PPT presentation to point out mistakes you made. She isn't the best, but not the worst.
Dr. Edwards is hit or miss with most students. If you take her, get on her good side ASAP and things will be much easier. Take Edwards if you want an easy class with little to no work. You will likely have to write only two papers throughout the entire semester. One for mid-terms and one for your final project.
Dr. Edwards is a great professor. Her class is a combination of lectures and projects, but it is an easy class for a college student transitioning from high school. There are two projects and a mid-term exam. Overall, I look forward to taking more classes with Dr. Edwards, and you should, too.
She never fully answers your questions about her assignments. Her instructions are SPECIFIC and if you don't exactly follow them, she goes crazy. She is EXTREMELY unorganized when it comes to presenting your group projects. She is nice, but can be annoying at times when she goes on her rant pages. Also, she typically ends class early which is nice.
Dr. Edwards makes her classes pretty easy. Her projects all have similar expectations and guidelines. There are two papers and presentations. She makes the midterm and final exams optional for extra credit. The only thing is her class can be pretty boring when she goes on her long rants or talks about her family.
Her class isn't hard, there are just two big projects that you work on a majority of the semester. The biggest thing is that you have to follow her guidelines EXACTLY or else she will call you out in the middle of a presentation. The projects are easy and she is not a tough grader as long as you follow guidelines.
Dr. Edwards is the best; I have had her for several classes, and I will be taking her for at least two more. She is very knowledgeable, and her class is the perfect combination of work. There is enough work within the two projects to last you the entire semester; however, she checks in with you regularly. Not a tough grader at all -- AND hilarious!
She is by far the best teacher I've had! She goes off topic sometimes but it makes the class better. She is HIGHLY SPECIFIC about what she wants. If you just follow the guidelines she provides, you'll get an A easily. All have to do is so what she says, it's simple! She is comfortable to talk to, understanding and you can trust her!
Dr. Edwards is a great professor, but she is a tough grader because she has high expectations. She is available after hours and is willing to work with students on their projects. Also, she is hilarious and engages with her students. She has two projects due by the end of the semester which are very time consuming, but you learn a lot from them.
Dr. Edwards is the best! Her projects enable students to learn a great deal of knowledge, and she is ALWAYS willing to answer questions. She alleviates students' stress by providing them with detailed, thorough instructions. She is also very kind and relates her personal experience to class. You just need to put forth a genuine effort in the course
I have her multiple times now and have never gotten a bad grade. The only thing I have to say is YOU NEED TO FOLLOW HER GUIDELINES! She's a simple person but when you DON'T follow her guidelines, you will loose points. I hate seeing students fail her class because everyone can pass it. You just need to pay attention to the paper she gives you.
I've had her for a few classes but I really enjoyed her classes! She has really simple to understand rubrics and is pretty good with helping students in need. She admits often that she wants everyone to pass and doesn't want to give bad grades. Just read the rubric, do the work, and address any concerns and you shouldn't have to worry!
Dr. Edwards has been one of - if not THE - most helpful professors in my academic career thus far. She truly cares about her students and makes an active effort to make her projects meaningful to the real world. Dr. Edwards is very accessible outside of class and is willing to help in any capacity she can.
Dr. Edwards is an extremely helpful, sweet, and caring professor. She goes out of her way to help students with projects and will answer any questions that you have. Additionally, she is very organized and knowledgable within the university.
Dr. Edwards is simply the BEST Professor at RMU!!! If you are a Strategic Comm major or PR & Advertising take any class Dr.Edwards has!! All of her grading rubrics are clear and she is so easy to talk to if you have any questions about projects or assignments. She is also amazing to talk to about career or questions you have about life in general!
Great class and great professor. Take if you can!!
Amazing class with clear rubrics and well-explained examples
Where would I be without Dr. Edwards? I currently have 2 small classes with her and we have a lot of fun as a result. Her rubrics are very specific and she will remind you of them frequently, but she truly has your best interest at heart. She is also my advisor and she is the only one that has made scheduling feel EASY in my four years of school.
This professor provides no detailed rubric or guidelines as to what she wants from her students and then penalizes for it. Her assignments are busy work and do not help in the real world. Ive had professors that provided sheets with detailed requirements as what they expect from a essay or assignment, but this shooting in the dark isn't working.
Professor was horrible with planning requiring papers to be due every single week with no warning or work up to the paper. Assignments were not made properly and time to complete any assignment was not given. Was given assignment to write a paper within two days and the two days were the weekend. Would not take again.
i mean, she isn't terrible. as long as you use her outlines correctly (which is so easy) you'll get an a
