Really good teacher, not boring
No Comments
She is one of the best teacher's I've ever had. She explains things clearly and it's not hard to get an A in her class.
I learned a lot, but how in the Hell does she expect one to remember the names of every form of early man, what they looked like and from where they hailed ... Jeez Louise! I really liked her though. Great teacher.
Interesting lectures. Her tests are difficult but there is a ton of extra credit to make up for it.
Had her for intro to anthropology and native american studies, made the material interesting, funny, really easy to work with if you have questions or problems. Highly Recommended!!!
I took this class with Michelle over a year ago and absolutely enjoyed it. She covered a lot of material in a very short amount of time, but she was well-organized and informative. Learning the material from her was not difficult.
Good teacher. Genuine and warm. One should plan time to do all the reading, it will be essential to doing well in her classes.
very good teacher. kept class interested and always open for discussion. highly reccomended
No fun here and horrible teaching...I got the same effect from reading the book.
Her lectures were just lists that she pulled out of the reading. Then the only grades were essay tests that we couldn't use lists on. We had to prove we read. So you wasted your time. She didn't teach. She just outlined. I only learned to hate Anthropology.
This lecturer puts in her personal religious opinions in the class where they are not needed, and they have been offensive to some students. Grades are structured too much like a graduate level class and according to whether or not you agree with the instructor.
Really sucks. It was a bunch of her liberal BS. She turned the class into an english class cuz she thinks we can't write. She always says the word Groovy! She also does this crazy thing with her eyes that freaks the hell outta me!
She was an awesome teacher...her teaching style was very clear, and she was just a friendly person. The material wasn't very interesting for me, but she made it better than it probably would've been with another teacher. And, she always says "Gezuntheit" when someone sneezes...not many professors do that.
Excellent teacher. She wants her students to succeed as long as there is an effort put forward. Information is straight forward and interesting.
Great teacher. If you do the work she will bend over backwards to help. Not someone that will let people slide to an easy C. But, she likes to give A's.
Professor Lorenzini is a very friendly person. She offers a very large amount of extra credit opportunities, and her tests are relatively easy, however always do the reading assignments, and pay close attention. You will find material from the book on the tests.
the best
Lorenzini is really cool. She gave alot of extra credit which helped me alot. Tests were not east but not hard. The only thing that sucked about her class was reading those longggg articles for quizzes every week!
She was pretty nice, and her class was not too difficult. The readings for her quizzes every week were kind of annoying. She offers a lot of extra credit. You should come to this class with an open mind about religion, marriage, and evolution.
I like her a lot!! She is very pretty, nice, and cool.
Took this class while in high school and did very well. Three years later I am majoring in anthro and I think Michele's class had a lot to do with that. She packed so much information into the class, but I feel like I took so much away from it. Read the book and go to class! Also, keep an open mind, it's vital in understanding other cultures!
I enjoyed her class very much. She is very interested in the topic and it shows in her teaching. She is very helpful and offers alot of extra credit. Her readings are interesting and the papers are really short. Some tests are hard, but overall easy if you just go and payattention. She gives studyguides!
Dr. Lorenzini has a passion for teaching. She was always easy to understand and very helpful. She always had a smile on her face and came to class prepared. The class itself is easy if you put forth effort to read the quiz articles and take notes. Myself, I thought the material was dry for the most part, but I recommend taking the class.
Teaches only with Powerpoint but very enthusiastic about the subject. Likes participation.
Pushes her own beliefs into the class lectures, and grades papers not on content, but by making sure you correctly followed the outline she handed out. Don't take this teacher, made me hate anthropology
TAKE THIS CLASS!!!! Yes, you have to work for your grade, but I learned so much in the class!! You have about 11 quizzes so you do have to read the mandatory readings!! DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!! It helps in the end a great deal. Her 2nd test is the hardest one. HER OTHER 2 ARE EASIER. Turn in rough drafts, you are almost guaranteed to get an A or B.
I left the comment before and like an idiot I put ANTH 101, there is no such thing..lol. I meant ANTH 111!! Anyways, I wanted to add that she is such a great techer with so much experience, I recommend her 100%!! Just study the notes as you get them and keep your syllabus close by and you will do great!! Good luck ;)
She was GREAT! Very helpful - super smart and fun to listen to. Wonderful class - had nothing to do with my major, but I'm so glad I took it!
She's very helpful. Will read rough drafts and give feedback, which helps to get an A on her papers.Study for the tests and you'll get a good grade.Offers extra credit which pays off at the end. Would definitely recommend this class and teacher. She knows her stuff.
Very hard for an intro class, papers are graded very harshly, the material seems easy enough but the tests are intense and are all scan tron but you have 5 options for each questions so if you dont study are you are screwed. . .she is very helpful and will explain what you dont get, but overall it doesnt help muhc, avoid if possible
What was this? Anthropology 400? She is pretty clear when she teaches but grades papers like you should be a world class writer, graded them very harshly. Avoid this class if possible.
Michelle is a very good teacher. She only teaches from powerpoint slides but has a lot of helpful study guides. The 11 quizzes are not too difficult, but you have to do ALOT of boring readings for them, and you will not pass the quizzes if you don't read. Don't know why people think papers are hard. Take her drafts and you'll get an A on them!
Michele is a really up-beat and funny teacher. Make sure to read what is listed for all 11 quizzes. Her tests are fair but really study.Powerpoint notes and a lot of them. She makes you write 3 summary papers. Make sure to either give her a draft or atleast take it to the reading center. Best if you gave her a draft. Good teacher though.
Michele is an excellent teacher and knows what she is talking about. This is not a blow off class and attendance is absolutely mandatory or you will not pass the class. Must read for the quizzes, even though some are boring. Bring her drafts of papers to get full credit. She grades hard, but is willing to help. Study hard for tests.
Super cool teacher with very interesting things to say. I dug her class, but the tests do require some study time. Will have to work a bit for your grade, but overall worth it. Would recommend to a friend!
This class was fairly difficult. A lot of reading to do for quizes. Make sure you read. Lorenzini comes off a bit sarcastic, but she is actually a good professor. Test and quizes are difficult, but if you study, you should be fine.
Great teacher. Very interesting and clear lectures. The tests are fair if you take good notes and study.
Lorenzini does not explain clearly, she works with power point slides, and shows videos about history of Asia that's very long and a lot things to remember, she tricks students with extra-credit that does not help in anyway. I can't believe people still fall for this class, very boring class. she has a big ego!
This was freaking crazy. Way too much work for an IS class. had to spend a week eating food within 5 miles of edwardsville then write 1400 word paper on it (and that was only 1 of the projects). could be really mean and very unclear. dropped classmate from a 90 to a 60 for being 300 words short on a 7 page paper and offered no feedback
Great teacher. Very enthusiastic about the material and very fun. Lectures from powerpoints. Exams are a little difficult b/c they're all-essay, but now that she allows notes on a notecard it's not too hard to get an A if you read the assigned readings and study.
This class was a two teacher class and she was the better teacher. There is a lot of work in the class and sometimes they're bogus but I did learn a lot. Showing up is not mandatory but it's good if you do. READ THE BOOKS! Tests are based on readings. She explained material better than the other teacher.
I love this crazy woman. She's so much fun and love what she does, and it really understanding if you need help. I missed my exam Monday and she let me take it with the other section without hesitation.
Lorenzini is engaging, down-to-earth, and knowledgeable. She does her lectures from powerpt but also takes time for class discussion. She makes it easy to participate. You do need to study, read over notes and material for quizzes and exams. Take advantage of the notecards on exams. Also, well worth it to let her proof read your papers.
Professor Lorenzini was fun and her class got me interested in Anthropology. I plan to take more of her classes. Take notes, read the articles and do the 4 papers and you are golden.
Michele is an amazing professor. She is down to earth and hilarious. She does a lot of discussion so it helps to participate. She is very clear about what the material is. There are a few quizzes over the articles throughout the semester but they are easy. Couple medium tests. Choice of 1 interview project or homework writings. Would take again!!!
She is great! I took this as the 3 week winter break course. There was a lot of reading and videos to watch that could be boring at times but she made the lectures interesting even if the topic was pretty dull. I thought that it was a great class to take in a short amount of time!
Has super great stories for class and always tries to engage with students. She has a few quizzes over readings, 2 tests, and a couple of short writing options. She allows a note card on tests so you don't have to do much memorization if at all. Just show up and pay attention and you should be good.
Not particularly interested in anthropology and just here to get my A and move on. Given how boring anthropology is however, she tries to make it interesting and I'm fairly certain her tests are not going to kill anyone. Have to come for powerpoints, she does not post them.
Michele is a very good professor. However, her lectures are extremely boring. You want tons of boring movies that have questions on the test. And you have 5 point quizes every week that you read like 20 long pages!
This was the easiest class I had last semester. Weekly, online, 5 question quizzes and two tests. That's the whole class. Michele is an entertaining lecturer which is good because there is no textbook. Come to class and pay attention and you'll do fine.
Michele is a really cool professor. She sings all of her emails with "Peace, Michele." Her lectures are super boring and she makes you watch a lot of long and boring videos that she adds to the tests. You also have weekly quizzes that consist of about five questions each. Overall, I think Michele is a solid professor and i would recommend her.
As long as you show up and pay attention you are good to go. There are weekly reading, but they are usually interesting and pretty short. She is always available and is the nicest person ever! I have taken two classes with her and loved both. She communicates clearly and is just an all around wonderful teacher!
I took this class thinking it would be an easy A. This class was made up of really long, boring lecture videos you had to watch for the test, and crazy long videos and articles you had to watch and read for weekly quizzes. For example, a 60 minute video and 8 page article for 6 multiple choice questions that were too detailed and unimportant
I loved Michele and how she teaches her classes. She basically does in class power points that you take notes off of and then you get a note card to use on the 2 exams. Plus there is no final. The only other things you are graded on are weekly quizzes which you have to read 2 articles or watch a video and answer 6 questions but all easy points.
I took both 111a and 111b and loved them both. Her class consists of slides for taking notes (don't skip class - she will not give you the notes if you miss) and quizzes on articles and videos you watch outside class. The articles/videos are a little boring, but they're really not that bad. She's hilarious and the best professor I've had so far.
She's awesome at explaining the material and makes the lectures interesting. There is no chance of passing if you skip because she gives pop quizzes over some of the readings that she assigns.
Her lectures are pretty interesting and as long as you write down the slides your good for tests. Gives 2 reading assignments a week that you'll take a 6 minute quiz online over. Occasionally a small extra credit assignment. Attendance isn't mandatory but without the class notes you won't pass. She did 4 online exams for us (27 in 30 min).
Lorenzini has been one of the best professors that I have had at SIUE. As long as you attend class and take notes you are set for the tests. She gives two articles to read each week and take a quiz about online but they are pretty easy. The tests are all online you just need to attend class to get the notes. I would take again.
Michele is one of the most laid-back professors I have had. The class is a little boring at first, but she does her best to allow students to engage to make class more interesting. All exams and quizzes are online and fairly easy. If you show up to class and take good notes, you will pass.
She knows most of us were there cuz we had to be & she made it as painless as possible to get an A. I showed up to class, took notes, put my notes verbatim on a notecard, test was straight off the notecard. Easy A. She is kind, enthusiastic, smart, really made lectures interesting even for those who didn't need it. Very helpful outside of class.
I was terrified she said you need 40hrs/wk to do well, but that's bull. You will read and watch a LOT of stuff, but just take a snapshot of each slide, take your test which is based right off them, get an A. Painless, & I actually learned stuff. 3 week course I got done a week early, skipped the only 2 essays we had and got an A. She's just great.
Michele was one of the best professors I've had! If you have a basic understanding of her class content and try a little bit, you'll pass! Try not to skip class tho! Super interesting content too.
way too much going on for an IS class. its an elective treat it like that.
An amazing professor who really cares about the content and her students passing
Such an amazing professor, if you have the opportunity to take her TAKE HER. This was an online summer course and it was super easy to manage while working full time! I loved this class and her!
The class was straight forward. If you put in zero effort your grade will reflect. It isn't content heavy. I took the 5 week course and didn't feel burdened by the course load (I was in three other courses at the time). The structure and expectations are easy to follow. Don't try to cram the video lectures, make sure you take the time to watch them
Approachable, caring professor. Interesting lectures with hilarious comments intertwined. Tests and quizzes are the only graded assignments. Generous amounts of extra credit available. Highly recommend taking ANTH 111B with her!
This class consisted of weekly quizzes and exams. The weekly quizzes were easy, you read the article before taking them and you get a good grade. The exams were very hard. You must be good at taking notes or else you won't get a good grade. There's A LOT of lectures for just one exam so it's hard to keep up. She does offer extra credit which helps.
TERRIBLE. A lot of reading goes into what the outcome is. Read a chapter that is 50 pages long for a 5 question quiz.... that typically the questions are not in the reading. This class is only being taken due to graduate. This topic is BORING, but have heavy material makes it worse. If all possible, DO NOT TAKE.
Worst professor i've ever had. Every quiz/test she gives the least amount of time possible to complete it. I got so much anxiety from this class, at times i've had multiple questions left on an exam and seconds left. It's not ok for students who need more time to concentrate, this teacher doesn't care about her students, take a different class.
Tests are almost impossible to get above a C, extremely specific questions. Low amount of time, on tests and quizzes. Uses a lockdown browser. Find another professor!!!
Professor Lorenzini is a great professor! All you have to do is read the articles and watch the lectures and youll do great. Her PowerPoint lectures are hilarious and informative you just have to have good to decent note taking. Put in the work and youll get great outcome.
Late to responding emails so if you have a question have to email 3 days before you need it to be answered. Gives small amounts of time to do quizzes and exams so if you are not a fast thinker you are not going to pass easily. The extra credit is like nothing so if you actually need it and you do it it only bumps your grade a point or two.
My class was asynchronous and it was honestly pretty easy. She is extremely organized and sends lots of reminders to students. The only downside really is that the time to take quizzes and tests is extremelyyyy short. But I still did good in the class.
Professor gives weekly quizzes, which you have 7 minutes to complete 6 very specific questions. Nearly impossible to do well on these if you aren't a fast thinker. Treats elective like a gatekeeper class. Overall doesn't have much consideration for students.
Had her for this class and it was beyond difficult for an elective. Quizzes were mandatory every week over long videos that I barely had time to get through since I had a lot of other homework. It felt very overwhelming just to sit down and do the work for that week. Overall, very anxiety inducing, would not recommend.
okay teacher. Quiz very week 6 questions with 6 minutes, 25 questions and 28 minutes for test, you cannot miss a deadline and nothing is posted of the lectures so don't miss a day unless somebody will send you the notes, and only 200 points possible for the course so every point matters.
This class is strictly test based and you are given a very short amount of time on quizzes. Would not recommend.
Really nice lady, treats a gen ed like its the most important class on your schedule. Too many quizzes, essays, exams, etc. Unorganized syllabus. Emails you random information that is not necessary for the course 4 times a day.
Lorenzini was a great professor. She was very engaged with the content and her students. She loved student questions and we had many good class discussions. She gives weekly quizzes with assigned readings and videos, but nothing too bad. There was 3 exams, just make sure you go to lecture and take good notes. Loved her class.
Professor Lorenzini taught this course (Native American Studies) with professor Fields. While the course load was heavy at times, the class structure has to be praised. When taking this class online you can largely go at your own pace (apart from quizzes and tests that are only available for a limited time) and all assignments are worth doing.
Worst teacher I've EVER had. Tests are 30 questions & 27 mins long (she writes jokes into the questions we have barely any time to read) and they cover lecture videos (that you probably forget about come test time) that add up to HOURS b/c she goes on irrelevant tangents. For some odd reason, she treats this 1st yr class like we're anthro. majors.
Michele is a wonderful professor. It is clear that she cares a lot about the content of her course and even goes so far as to send emails with articles relating to what we do in class (although they are not mandatory reads). The assignments are predictable and easy, and as long as you stay on top of the weekly quizzes you will do great.
If you like reading 20 page articles then take this class, this class is taught like it's the only class you're taking. The quizzes are about 7 min for a 6 question quiz and the test 28 questions with 30 min she also puts small details on the class like what did I say this day. DO NOT SKIP THIS CLASS
Sends 20 emails a day with material that has nothing to do with what you are learning. She doesn't attempt to help you and makes others reach out to you to help. All tests and quizzes are timed and you barely get time to finish them. Study guides have nothing to do with the tests and are a waste of time
For this course to be a 100 level, it requires so much of your time! Every week she drops 6-7 lecture videos that are an hour plus. Also, she only has one extra credit opportunity and its about 5 points-not enough to do anything for your grade. The worst part is the information on her long lectures are no where to be found on the exams/quizzes.
