I honestly hate the way she teaches. She gives out to much homework and its impossible to keep up.
She's not bad. Quizzes are based on readings, so you have to do those. Offers extra credit by going to events on campus. Grades per rubric so if you stick to them, you should be fine. Aside from the reading, work isn't too time consuming. She gives class time to work, too.
Good professor for Business Writing. Gives good feedback and makes sure you are prepared for writing tests. Class is pass/fail, but you need to come to class. Lots of group work, most assignments you get full credit for if you just turn them in on time. Seems like it's pretty easy to pass.
She is a great instructor for Business Writing class. She gives a good feedback and i learned a lot in this class.
A good professor who is good at teaching.
She gives a lot of lectures but she seems very passionate about what she is teaching so it makes them more tolerable. However, there is a lot of outside reading but all the homework is relatively easy. I had her for Business and Society and she is definitely more lenient than other professors teaching that course so I'd definitely recommend her!
I really enjoyed Michele as my business writing professor. She gives you really good feedback on your assignments. There are a lot of quizzes on grammar and the chapters in the book but they are easy and all you need is above a 1.75 on them. The book is about $35 from the book store so that sucked but overall she is a really easy grader.
Had her for business & society and overall great teacher. Very boring information to teach but she kept it interesting. Maintained her enthusiasm throughout the year and it stood out over previous professors. Papers are graded pretty tough in terms of proper format: flo w; and grammmer. She teaches business writing though so its expected.
She was as good as you can be with this class. She grades pretty fairly. All you need to do is get the correct format for the graded writings and be semi-good at writing and the class should be an easy pass. Only bad thing is she does not give any feedback on the practice writings, so you need to go to her to have her review it during/after class
Nice enough. Has busy work. Lots of group activities but only three group projects: one paper, one presentation, one short review paper. Attendance is mandatory. Uses laptops a bunch so it's helpful if you have your own. Kind of an easy A, I thought.
Tons of out of class events required to go to. Not accommodating if you have other commitments like work and can't attend events. Also, countless group projects where she grades very tough. If you have a bad group, your grade will also reflect it. One benefit of taking her class is that you get to use notes on exams!
She is a great teacher for business and society. She gives out busy work and had several events you have to attend, but she grades fairly and is accommodating when you have questions or problems. There were multiple group projects, but if things go wrong just go to her office hour; she will be understanding and try to help you out.
Professor Peetz was a very nice lady and was very passionate about teaching. If you take here never do any extra credit as it will not help you at all to achieve a grade desired.
DISCLAIMER: This review is more about the prof than the class (it's pass/fail class, it's pretty difficult to fail) Michele is a tough grader and does not provide much useful feedback. She repeats the same things in class, but attendance is recorded so you have to go. I received low grades on good work for no reason. Take Emily Iverson instead!!!!!
Peetz definitely does her best to make the subject the most interesting it can be! She cares about her students and is understanding and helpful throughout the whole semester. You do a lot of group things, and do have homework often, but it's most definitely manageable. I recommend her!
There's lots of outside events that she makes you go to or you won't pass the class. There is at least 2-3 assignments a week that a busy work. I didn't learn a single thing in this class. Easy A if you are able to show up to everything and do all the busy work.
If you wanna feel like you're taking a high school class again than Peetz is your girl. She takes sips of her tea in the middle of her sentences and tells you to write things a specific way then proceeds to downgrade you because she wanted it another way. Don't get me wrong, its easy to pass but if you can take a different professor I would.
Its a writing class-so lots of writing. But Michelle did give good feedback and examples, so that was appreciated and I did get better at my writing. She doesnt grade on attendance, but gives assignments out in class, so if you miss you need to pick up the info. Class is pass fail, but if you do the work, should be no problem for anyone.
Fun class! Michelle is awesome. She organized fun things like wheelchair basketball and our own pet therapy day to play with dogs after a bunch of us said we missed our pets. Not too many assignments. You can tell she really cares about her students-she gave good class reg tips to me. Glad I took New Student Seminar with her and not someone else!
I've had Prof Peetz for both Bus & Society and Bus Writing. I wish she offered more classes. She is helpful and is willing to give help on resumes, career stuff, and opportunities to help you network. I feel like I learned valuable professional skills in her classes. Grading was fair. Only went to her office hours once, but was very helpful.
All exams are taken online in class but are open note! There is a lot of busy work but you can get through it. Michele is super sweet and very helpful. Definitely recommend taking classes with her.
Peetz is a very nice person and very flexible. All exams were online and you could use your notes. There are only 3 exams. A few assignments were kind of unnecessary, but otherwise homework is average. She does do a lot of group work and/or activities. Simply showing up to class, and doing the homework would get you an A.
Very nice lady and means well, but awful grader. Many busy work assignments. Typed a 1200 word assignment that was worth 15 points. Never received a 15/15 was always a 14.25 with feedback saying "great job." Did a Group presentation and one of my members skipped the presentation day. We covered and still got 4 pts off for missing a team member....?
Favorite class of the semester! Michele is a great professor. Not a lot of reading, assignments are clear-hit all the points on the rubric & youre set. Topics are interesting, but sometimes people dont interact as much in class-not her fault. If you cant get an A here, you did something wrong.
Michele is great and teaches a pretty easy class. 3 tests online with notes and a few minor assignments like writing one page on something. NO FINAL, but could take it to replace a bad test. Lectures get boring as she does a lot of the same things. She actually teaches a lot of information while still making the class fairly easy. 2 group projects
She takes an easy class and makes it way harder than it needs to be. Her grading criteria is ridiculously intense for a basic career info class and points are taken off for any little thing. I had a higher grade in every other class, including upper level finance and math. I would recommend finding another section unless you want to waste your time
She just gives a lot of busy work that isn't really needed and her grading system makes no sense and the feedback usually doesn't make much sense either.
She really makes an easy class super hard. Super tough grader and will take points off for any little thing. For example, werent allowed to reply to two discussion posts in one day or points would be taken off. Heavy work load and I just dont recommend taking this class with Michele unless you want to waste your time.
She will literally nitpick you out of an A. I got great grades on everything but the group project and I got an A- overall. If you decide to ignore the warnings on this page and take her, ALWAYS READ THE RUBRIC. She does not list everything on the assignment page and hides things in the rubric that you will not even know are required. AVOID!!!
Absolute worst professor I've had at UWW. I would avoid at all costs. She grades so harshly and you waste so much time just completing pointless requirements. You spend 20 hours a week writing endless discussion posts and assignments on stuff that is either common sense or stuff that you will never need to know again. Take any other professor.
Unreasonably tough grader, seems like a much harder work load than other professors teaching this course when I compared with friends in other sections. She was okay as a person but just not a good instructor and I would definitely not take her again. The group project was also really time consuming and not well directed.
The course had a TON of easy but annoying busy work that really didn't go much toward your grade. There was a group project that really wasn't laid out well so it was a bit of a hassle. It's an easy "A" but is just kind of a pain to go through.
Tons of lectures. She can tend to drone on and on, but there are only 4 tests and they are all open note. You're supposed to read the book, but you can basically show up to class and listen a little bit and then print out the slides for the tests and pass. Overall, nice lady. However, I did not like her teaching style of talking the entire class.
In her class you have three graded writings that are worth 60% of your grade followed by the final exam which is worth 20% of your grade. She gives terrible feedback on your writing and will take off lots of points but then not tell you why. She does not provide examples of how the writing is supposed to look. Definitely pick a different professor
Michele Peetz is a nice lady, however a poor professor. Peetz teaches what should be a middle school level class, but turns it into something much more difficult than it needs to be. Course is set up as a pass/fail with 60% of your grade being made up from 3 graded-writing assignments, each worth 20%. Peetz gives inconsistent feedback and lowscores
Peetz is a harsh grader and will take points off for any little thing, such as using the abbreviation of a state vs the whole state name. This is a pass/fail course worth 2 credits and gets made much more difficult than it needs to be, all for no real reason. This class just involves all kinds of extra work that makes it more work than it's worth.
To be honest, I'm not even sure how/why Peetz is still employed by the university. I've attended a different college before UWW and this is my third year here, and between both schools and all my classes so far, Peetz has been the worst professor I've had. She constantly gives out low scores, knit picks every little thing apart, AVOID HER!
Came here to leave a review, but decided I don't need to as the others already describe what I was going to say. Peetz clearly has not changed her ways as reviews with similar complaints date back to prior years and semesters.
DO NOT take Michele Peetz if you can. The course content itself wasnt difficult, but her teaching style and grading style made this class completely dreadful. If you expect to learn anything that is not in the textbook, then you should pick a new prof. Her feedback style is very minimal and she will not clearly explain your errors in assignments.
This class is the biggest waste of time for a 2 credit class. I can pretty much guarantee that any other prof will make better use of your time and will grade more fairly. She makes it such a struggle to just get the credit and I feel like she just is on a 24/7 power trip. My GPA is high and I was worried about passing a pass/fail course. Insane.
Worst professor I've ever had by far. I would transfer schools before I suffered through another one of her classes. Group project is a big part of your grade but she will offer no guidance and take points off for things you never even knew about. Your life will be endless, pointless discussions. Her teaching style is just mean and lazy, honestly.
Out of all my classes this semester, I can't believe the 2 credit pass/fail course is the one I most stressed out about and worried about passing. This class definitely does not need to be this way, but it's the way Peetz makes it-- because as someone else said, she has the power. Overall, Peetz has a bad attitude and poor way of teaching/engaging
I would not recommend my worst enemy take Peetz's business writing course. Never in my life have I had a professor (I don't even think Michele is officially even titled a "professor"), or any instructor who does not want to see their students succeed, rather sets them up for failure. Her comments aka "feedback" on papers is often snarky and rude.
I wouldn't recommend taking a course with Peetz unless you have the superpower of being able to read minds. Michele grades insanely harsh for giving such little direction, explanation, and examples. Somehow you're expected to know what she has pictured in her mind word-for-word what she expects, and if yours doesn't identically match points off.
Worst teacher at UWW. I took her when this was a pass fail class and she failed me. Very little direction, not sure why she works here still. STAY AWAY. I took Orvec the next semester and got over 100%. Same class. Unreal. I wasted time and money with Peetz. For "Peetz" sake get another job. Teaching is not your strong suit. Go back to teaching HS.
Don't expect an A from Michele. 110% effort is still not enough. Heavy on homework, her canvas is confusing - hard to find assignments, lots of busy work, and 3 TERRIBLE assessments, which may be open note- but have none of the same material as in class lectures. 6/10 for personality 0/10 for teaching style
She is possibly the worst grading professor I have had so far. She appears to find very minor mistakes and turns them into major issues. The class itself is easy, but her grading is awful. I followed directions perfectly on multiple occasions, including an INTRODUCTION assignment, and she still took points away for reasons that didn't even apply.
When you do an assignment, make sure you answer ANY and ALL questions within the rubric because she will mark you down. Make sure you do all the extra credit you can. Michele is not unreasonable, she just has a lot of expectations for students in a 101 course. For assessments PRINT OUT HER SLIDES and bring them. oh and this class is boring fs.
Mrs. Peetz is not necessarily a bad teacher, it is just not a well run class. I would find myself attending lectures, but when I took the tests, there was a lot of unrelated/not well taught concepts. There is a few in class assignments that you will receive so you have to go to class.
Going into this class after reading other rate my professors, I was definitely a little scared. This lady is so kind, and I have no idea why everyone rated her so badly. It was a breeze of a class. I took in online during the summer of 2022, and out of all my classes, it was the easiest. Highly recommend.
Michele Peetz is one of the worst graders I have had at Whitewater so far. I don't think she is a bad person but her teaching style is terrible. Her lectures are meaningless and her notes don't contribute to any of the quizzes and tests. I would not recommend taking her and I suggest you take someone else before it is too late.
She is a very tough grader. She finds minor faults in your assignment and marks you down heavily. I had an assignment about introducing yourself and I got a 6/20? Like other said, you need to respond to any and all questions or you will be expecting an F on every assignment. I have yet to receive full credit on an assignment from her.
I can't believe the reviews in here. She is VERY clear on her expectations. Participation in discussions is very important to her and she does not hide that. She provides clear grading rubrics for all written assignments. She is easy to reach out to with any questions or help if needed. In my second class with her, and I hope I see her more.
Literally just try in this course, and you will succeed. Professor P gives very lengthy and detailed instructions on what she expects. Again, participation in discussions is extremely important to her. One of my favorite professors at UWW.
Michele is a very kind and hardworking lady. She cares about her students and wants to get to know you. She's a very tough grader but it's for the best, she's not mean, she's trying to prepare you. She struggles to get to the point and be concise, but she gives you everything that you need to hear in detail, and she color codes most things.
Mrs. Peetz is one of the best professors in this course. She is very reasonable and understanding of her students. She is very passionate about her work and it shows. Make sure to read the readings, as it will be on the quiz.
Her class was quite difficult, but I felt I learned a lot this semester from it. She is great about giving feedback on your work and is a genuinely nice person. I would recommend her to any freshman.
Ms. Peetz does not know her role. It's a Business Writing class, but she wants it to be more than that. Carefully following directions, and putting forth 100% effort are not enough for her. Heavily weighted graded writings - doesn't grade according to the rubric & guidelines. Easily offended if questioned on her subjective grading.
Michele Peetz might be the least self-accountable adult I've met in a formal setting, but the class with her wasn't too bad beyond that and the mostly arbitrary learning goals.
She knows what she's doing and is very knowledgeable in the subject but she expects a lot out of people. Her assignments were a big pain to complete and it felt like I had to do the most for her class. She moves very quickly as well and be prepared for a ton of group work or short papers.
Just do not take this class unless you have no choice in choosing other professors. It honestly feels like the class is being taught by a high-school teacher.
Michele does not actually teach much about business, the first 3 weeks of class(aka 6 classes) were spent going over assignments and how to do them. She assigns almost purely busy work and does not provide in class time to do any of it. Reminds me of a high school teach quite a lot.
I wouldn't take this course again because she grades differently than the other professors. Instead of the letter grades, we are graded by 1,2, or 3. If your grade is 1.75 you don't pass. It makes the class difficult and the feedback we get on assignments is vague and unhelpful.
I was warned not to take her courses; however, I've previously taken reputably bad professors, and I loved them. Listen to the reviews on here for Michele Peetz! Easiest class but easily the worst professor. If she finds anything minorly wrong in an assignment, she will remove points. She assigns lots of side work only worth 5% of your grade.
Michelle is a passionate teacher, but with this class being a freshmen course, I thought the workload was way too much. There were abunch of essays, requirements to read textbook, and hw. She also wasn't the easiest grader.
Michele gives lots of assignments; however, some are useful for the final paper. My classmates said she was a harsh grader, but I did not find any issues if I produced quality work. She is super nice as a person, though is very similar to high school teachers trying to give themselves more power than they actually have.
All these ratings seem accurate I have been in her course for 3 weeks and she already is doing too much and she is the worst grader in the UWW system. She also reminds me of a high school teacher. DO NOT TAKE!!!
20 quizzes are due in the first week. 9 of them are 30 questions long, just so much content for absolutely no reason complete waste of time. This professor takes this class way too seriously as if is statistics or accounting, do not take this professor heavily regret it, and will end up wasting a lot of time.
She reminds me of a high school professor and she assigns a lot of busy work that is for very little percent of the grade. she is very picky when it comes to grading and assignments and she never accepts when she is wrong and will not admit it either. she is also by far the B****IEST person you will meet.
After taking beindp 101 online I swore I would never take a class with her again but was forced into taking beindp 290 because of my schedule. All she assigns is busy work and any and everything you submit will be criticized with vague feedback. This class sums up to nothing learned and a wasted semester.
DO NOT TAKE. She Is the worst professor here and d should not even be a professor here. She will grade your exams and other things and screw you over the smallest things and it won't make any sense. She gives out pointless busy work that is worth very little and will take you an hour plus. I spent more time on this class than my upper divisions.
AVOID HER!! She is absolutely useless when it comes to actually teaching but expects SO MUCH for a 101 course. Required 3 responses to discussion posts, all on different days. Her lectures just restate the book. Textbook quizzes are oddly specific. Grades super tough. Not helpful if you reach out. Big group project that she grades super harshly.
Worst professor I have ever had. I got an A- in the class and I grinded so hard. Homework at least three times a week. Take literally ANYONE ELSE. My friends had over 100% and they did no homework. I'm begging you to take ANYONE else.
Michele seems to be a super nice person, but she assigned a ridiculous amount of homework. I wrote more essays in this class than all of my classes combined first semester. Lots of busy work but I do think she loves her job.
Lots of busy work, but it is easy to do well on it. Very clear grading guidelines. Michele is really nice and you can tell she's passionate about the subject. She responds to emails quickly. Assignments weren't difficult- just. so. freaking. long. No reason for this much work in a 100 level course.
I really enjoyed Michelle's class. There was a lot of interactive activities, which made class go fast. She clearly is passionate about what she does and cares about her students. There are weekly assignments, but everything is in the schedule she gave us so nothing is a surprise, which I appreciated. Not a really hard grader.
I would avoid taking Michele for BEINDP 101. The amount of work given for a 101 class was crazy. Michele never grades in a timely manner your always waiting for weeks on end. Half the time when something is graded you never know what is right/wrong with it. I wrote so many papers in this class. I would reccomend taking someone else.
Do NOT take her beindp classes. She assigns way too many connect assignments that can take over an hour to complete. And her lectures consist of reading off slides so nothing is learned from them. Like everyone else is saying, its a major waste of time.
She is a nice person, but it is difficult to do well in her class. She is a very strict grader and your entire grade comes almost completely from three timed graded writings.
The most unaccommodating professor I've dealt with. Her smartbook assignments are mini exams that are at least 60 questions wrong and she requires 2-3 every week. Don't waste your energy taking her, I'd honestly wait until another professor is available because of how much a dread sitting in her class. The most agonizing 50 minutes hands down
THE. WORST. PROFESSOR. AT. UWW.
Worst professor ever. Way to much work for a 101. Just repeats the textbook. Learned nothing that will happen me advance in life.
Final paper is a paper on this case study that her and her library girlfriend wrote. Treats the 101 class like the Bible. You will be crucified if you slander it.
DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS SHE IS YOUR LAST CHOICE. She is a super hard grader, and there are only 4 writings that make up 85% of your total grade. She also assigns so much busy work. This isn't a joke, like me and 7 other people barely passed her class, and we all normally get A's. She grades and makes a 2-credit class feel like a 5-credit class.
Easy class. All you have to do is show up and participate.
A typical 101 class. Very easy, she is always there for her students. She has clear grading expectations and is a very respectable teacher.
Business writing was easy. As long as you do some of the readings and know how to write, you will pass.
Everything she tries to explain about the material is self-contradicting. I guess feedback given in the practice assignments doesn't apply to the 3 graded writings that make up 75% of the course. Too much homework that doesn't relate to the writings. Doesn't grade fairly at all.
DO NOT TAKE. She assigns so much homework that barely affects your grade. She would give me 50% on tests when there were only a few tiny mistakes that I could've improved on. Horrible teacher and grading system. Would rather wait for next semester and take an extra class if it meant I would get a different professor.
good teacher, really cares about her students.
Would take her again, a very easy 101 class.
Business class is easy; it is pass/fail and simple to pass if you attend classes and use her corrections and rubrics.
Overall, it's a pretty good 101 class with minimal homework, making it easy to earn an A. It's a typical introductory course.
Great teacher, do not know why there are so many bad reviews.
As long as you work on your writing skills, you will be good. It is a pretty easy class to pass.
Easy 101 class, I would take her again.
As long as you know how to write, you will pass.
This class is easy, and the teacher is great. I highly recommend taking her course.
Lectures can be quite informative, but they are also very useful and engaging.
Good teacher for a 101 class.
if you miss class be prepared to tank a 0, you wont be able to make it up, she is really hard to talk to about making up assignments. an average of 3 assignments a week.
Don't take her unless you physically have to. Gives minimal feedback on your practice writings and then slams you on the graded writings. Grades very unfairly.
she picks favorite students, if she doesn't like you she will decrease ur grade on random things. she barley talks about assignments in class but when she does, TAKE NOTES, make sure u write everything down because if u dont add what she says to the assignment in class she will take points off these things aren't included on rubrics or instructions
Michele Peetz is the equivalent of heating up a metal rod and repeatedly shoving it where the sun doth not shine. She is routinely frustrating, more frustrating than that one girl who never gets the message that the world doesn't revolve around her. She treats herself like Madonna just because her name is on the cover of the textbook. #WASHEDAF
I took Professor Michele Peetz for a business class and I swear she grades like shes running the IRS. You turn in an assignment feeling confident and she returns it looking like it survived a crime scene. If you enjoy working twice as hard for half the grade take this class. Its basically business boot camp minus the business and twice the suffering
Lots of tedious work which she graded very toughly, made what should be a super easy class not that.
the best way i could describe peetz is as a nazi jew. she grades our paper like hitlers rating a jewish child dance. she doesnt like questions, and she teaches with her funkbuddy, palraj, sitting in the corner of the room. i hated her class and I would advise everyone to drop her class.
