She is clear and gets to the point without pulling any punches. She makes complex concepts easy to understand.
Microbiology - EXTREMELY EASY CLASS!!! Michelle is pretty cool too.
Ms Perchez was a very good professor, she made the class easier than I thought, made the class fun
Ms. Perchez is the perfect entry-level Microbiology teacher. She gives lots of info in an easy-to-understand, concise manner and makes studying easy with comprehensive study guides for each exam. If you don't do well in this class you didn't bother to study.
Michelle is a great instructor. She is right to the point, and she gives you exactly what you need for the tests. If you don't do well in this class you probably have bad study habits?
If you have to take this class you should consider Michelle as your choice. This class was easier than I thought it would be.If you fail then you should probably consider another major.
Easiest 5 unit class ever - especially if you have any science background. If you need micro. - take Michelle. Very straight forward teaching style. Class material is interesting and relavent.
good lecture and lab teacher. intresting class
Lecture class was very easy. All tests all from lecture. Drops lower test score. Final is open book.
Michelle tells you what see wants you to study. You dont need the textbook. You buy the classnotes and fill-in the blanks during lecture. It makes it easy to follow along and stay focused. I wish all teachers had this system. She make Par. Microbio. easy to understand. I do not have her for Lab.
Michelle is very down to earth and lets you know exactly what you need to know to do well on the exams. She did not have any tricks up her sleeves, and was very knowledgeable on the subject matter. She was very patient as well, and believe me, she needed to be with some of the stupid questions that were asked!
Mrs. Perchez is mean and unethical. You won't learn much from her, all she does is teach from an overhead. Horrible prep. for nursing! Doesn't want to help students, but received a decent grade in her course.
Michelle is a horrible teacher. She doesn't teach all she does is read off of her overheads. She knows nothing more about micro then what is on her overheads. Her lectures are extremely boring. She gives out exams missing questions and pages and will not admit that she is at fault, and will not allow her students to complete the exams. Watch out!
You won't learn much from this class. She's unhelpful and she also has an attitude! She's got such a short fuse and she's snappy. If your going into Nursing, don't take her! You won't learn anything! Grossmont needs to hire a new Micro teacher!
Retarded much? The people below are dumb. Michelle makes this class so freaking easy, it is unbelievable. The labs are fun and she hand feeds you instructions AND for lecture, she hand feeds you all the answers AND THEN plays review games? The tests are easy. She's funny, but I do agree she can be snotty...and I wish she'd tell Brian to shut up
ROFL! Yes, Brian, shut up! You ask so many stupid questions and then try to answer them yourself LOL
She is a great teacher! All assignments are required alot of time and efforts, but it what BIO152 is(not her). She knows which students are put alot of effort to accomplish all assignments. So, her way to grade is very fair to all students. Also Her class is fun.
Study regularly and stay on top of your unknowns in lab and you'll be fine. I loved Michelle as a teacher and marvelled at her patience as she calmly navigated a treacherous semester beset by retarded and/or self-serving questions in lecture and clumsy students spilling their TSB in lab. Highly recommended.
She is Horble teacher. She is worst teacher I have ever taken. She does not know how to lecture and she does not know how teach micro, I wish Grossmont college would bring a teacher who know what she is talking about. I would recommen everyone not to take her because she suck and she is very rude.Igot a B in the class but I had to work hard get
By far the worst teacher at Grossmont. She doesn't know how to teach and if you ask her a question. She has a dumb look on her face. She doesn't usually know the anwers to your questions. You won't learn much from her. SHE'S HARD!!
Yes it's a hard class. Michele hands out a note taking manual, and an extensive study guide, know them both inside and out, do what she expects, and you will be fine. Yes she is moody, and can be snippy. but mind your own business, and keep on top of things; study study study. She is better than the other chioces for micro at Grossmont.
Everything needed to know, is basically handed to you. If you study and memorize the info you will do fine. Stay on top of the notes and the study guide/questions. For lab, be prepared to put in some extra hours on your unknowns. If your not sure about something , ask Michele. Somedays she can be moody, but dont take it to heart. Its just a class
Michelle is a good teacher she knows the material. This class is NOT EASY but you will do well if you understand the material. She gives you everthing you will need to study within the first week. But BEWARE in the definitions write them exactly how she has them she will mark points down. She does have favorites but what teacher doesn't.
very impersonal.knows her stuff. gives you study guides. everything very straight foward. spend a lot of outside-class time for bacteria unknowns.test:70 multiple choice, 15-20 definitons, 3 written questions.moody.ask and she'll tell unless its a gimme or u don't put effort into it. takes roll.
Perchez keeps it professional, but personable. Four books are listed for her class, all of which she calls "supplemental reading." (As in, she doesn't test you on any of it.) Tests are straight out of the packet you work with all semester. Lab quizes are strictly based on what you do in lab. Lecture counts for 2/3 of total grade.
Michelle is an awesome teacher. Yes her class is hard and there is a lot of work but I did it. She does not require you to buy the textbook which is good because it is like a million dollars. Study, Study, Study and ask for help when you need it and SHE WILL HELP YOU and you will do just fine.
Michelle is all business. She's not very personable. She requires a packet of notes with blanks that you fill in during lecture. If you study, you'll get an "A". She's very straightforward. I only had her for lecture, not lab. The class is boring though and there is no student involvement, just her lecturing.
Michele is a great teacher, but don't get me wrong, the class is difficult. There is little textbook usage but a lot of outside-of-class work for the lab. She gives you note packets which you fill in from powerpoints. Study guides also given and tests are pretty much everything from the study guide so study it well!! Be ready for a lot of work!
Mrs. Perchez is a horrible teacher. I'm warning you! Avoid her at all costs. Do not take this teacher. You won't learn much from her. She was disrespectful to me in class and she has a major attitude.
This class is straightforward. Notes are printed out with fill in spaces for you to write in during lecture. Boring class to sit through. No textbook required. Study and you'll do fine. Good luck trying to pay attention!
Michelle is a really sweet lady. You have a study guide for lecture which is what will be on the test, if you have any questions go to her office hours and she will clarify so you can do well. For lab you have to come alot outside of class. Michelle is very straight forward about what she wants and there is no tricky questions on tests. shes great.
teaching skills are very scarce, bein behind a computer and clicking the enter button is not real teaching, but overall very easy class, no book required, the sad thing is that this teacher doesnt know how to hide her bias, I've obseved her favoritism for a certain race and negligence towards another so watch out for that.
Michele lectures are powerpoint but not too much further explanation. Lazy teaching.Lec.exams too long, memorize word by word definitions for written part. She is good in the lab explaining the procedures to make the experiments but lab quizes are challenging, very difficult and tricky. If you can take someone else. Lillis I hear is better.
Microbiology lecture and lab are well designed and challenging. Michele is very helpful and projects professionalism during lecture and lab. Use her office hours to better understand the concepts of each lecture and do not be afraid to ask questions. She is instrumental in making you successful and pass the course. Highly recommend this professor.
Got some attitude problems and very moody she can be nice. Thanks for my first C ever.
Try to avoid her as much as u can?
Michele is a phenomenal teacher. She provides everything you need to know for tests in her lecture booklet, buying the textbook is not mandatory. She is incredibly intelligent and makes learning fun. She does care about her student?s success and is always willing to help you out during office hours. Her study guides for lecture exams and lab quizze
I would highly recommend taking Michele for lecture and lab, she is amazing!
Michele is a great teacher and a wonderfully smart, very nice woman. I really enjoyed her class and learned a lot. She is extremely helpful if you come to her with questions. Prepares you well for all tests. I would highly recommend her for lecture and lab.
Lab/lecture quizes/exams were pretty straightforward. Use her study guides & you will do well. Beware of essay questions on lecture exams, don't just quote her from notes/study guide -explain why you understand, otherwise you will lose a lot of points if you don't add your own explanation. Don't put anything off!! SHE'S MOODY & NOT VERY HELPFUL!!!
If you study her guides you will get an A. Classes are a bit dry as she just reads directly from her power point, but if you study the guide you should get an easy A.
Michele is an amazing Micro professor. She is very knowledgeable, and she is very willing to answer questions. The only students she is "moody" with are the slackers who miss class half the time. Put forth the effort in this class, and you will be fine. No skating here.
Her lectures are not that entertaining, but EVERYTHING needed for exam success is on her study guide. Just match the guide to the printed notes she provides & you will be prepared for an A. Work the guide before review day so you can ask Q's & she will tell you the exact info for the short answer portion & clarifies anything. Just Ask!
This class is VERY boring and EXTREMELY hard! You grade is mainly based on your exams (very little for quizzes and homework). She grades ridiculously hard on her exams, mainly the definition and essay sections because she is so picky! There is a study guide that does somewhat help. A suggestion: if you can take another professor, then do it...
Perchez is a good professor who has a passion about what she does. Yes the class is difficult but what science class is not. She gives you the tools to succeed so it is up to you. I recommend forming study groups as it helped me. Follow her study guide don't miss any classes and study early. Her class is not one you can cram for..Good luck.
did not like this professor!!!don't even bother wasting your time or money!!!
.....disliked this class and the professor, would never recomend anyone to take her.
she is worse then the deadly parasites she covers during her classes
Michele is all about tough love. This class is hard to begin with, if you're studying to be in the medical field, you should get used to it. She's very specific & nitpicky about her short essay answers on exams so you MUST know what you're talking about. This class takes HOURS&HOURS of studying so get a good study group together to stay on top.
Perchez: a lousy "teacher" with trick questions and not helpful. She doesn't guide you, she stumps you. Its possible to get an A - you need to constantly appear in her office with questions and use her buzz words in the written exams. No extra credit and a real stickler. Avoid her, but who else is better??? Her lecture guide is ok. No book.
WARNING shes VERY moody ok one minute and rude the next apparently its her thing. Tricky Q's on tests especially quizzes. Total bias towards some students. Dont bother with Q's she will make you feel like an idiot. Anyone w/a good review must have been a chosen one. Do NOT take her.
Like any other bio class, if you study, you will pass. Michele is easy to talk to and very helpful. No need to purchase the textbook though. All the info is in her power points and study guides. But you do need the lab manual.
Her lecture is boring. Sometimes she doesn't know the answer when students ask. And her lecture exams is really hard and long. Moreover, you supposed to write the WHOLE sentences and EXACTLY the same as in study guide; otherwise, you will get points off.
Michele is a great teacher. This class is HARD and takes a LOT of time for studying and extra hours in lab. But she is always available to help her students. She calls every student by name by the 2nd week of class, really cares and wants you to succeed.Go to her office hours with your study guide and she will go over anything and everything with u
She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. The class is time consuming so study early. The lab is easy as long as you know how to use a microscope well but if not she will help you. The lecture info is not that excited but her format makes it easy to learn. Use her office hours and email any questions to her and you will do well. JUST STUDY!
She is an ok teacher, on the scale 1-10, I give her a 7.5.
Michelle is a nice person but a super hard teacher and grader. She tries to trick you on quizzes and her tests are really difficult. She gives little to no extra points. Take another teacher if possible.
Mrs. Perchez was a very great teacher, yah she makes you work for your grade but I don't think nursing school will be any easier, she is extreamly helpful and very nice when you approach her, don't be scared to take her!!!!! just expect alot of work and the lab is real fun!
Tough class...YES! Professor Perchez is very clear on what she expects from her students. She is extremely approachable, organized, straight forward, and helpful. She's not for the faint of heart. So, if mommy still holds your hand, I recommend finding another professor to baby you. Michele, you rock!! :)
Prof Perchez provides plenty of opportunity to get a good grade. She does not use the textbook. She gives 4 exams plus an optional exam (grade can only help and not hinder) and final. The final is 60 questions & open note. You will have to study hard if bio doesn't come easy to you. Recommend you take her w/Valtierra.
She was very nice! Her class made me love microbiology... If you are lazy, do not take this class... you would have to spend hours and hours in open lab to get your unknowns! It is so much fun though... lecture is easy but boring.DO UR STUDY GUIDE!!!Lab quizzes are hard.. Lab Study guides are not helpful
she is a great teacher and she is very smart. ahe can teach you how to study academically, and she wants you to be accurate when you use the biological terms I learned a lot from her and I wish everyone takes her class.I got an A and I think if you study well before each class you will get it too.
Perchez is an awesome teacher. She makes things interesting and shes very interactive. Class is very difficult, but she is always there to help. Upon a request and getting to know her, she wrote me an amazing heart felt letter of recommendation to graduate school. I recommend her to anyone that needs/or wants to take microbiology.
Do Not take her, she is unorganized, poor time management; she is not helpful; she has major attitude, unapproachable; her lecture is boring and has the major credit of her class. I do not recommend her.
I liked Prof. Perchez but her grading wasn't all that fair. You can write a novel on test answers and still get marked off for missing details. Many hours spent in open lab, but still got wrong answers on unknowns. She won't tell you if you are on the right track. She can be smug at times, and funny at other times.
She's great. No text is required only lab manual. Get ready to put in lots of hours. she's clear on what she needs from her students. Helpful during her off hrs. Be ahead of your studying although its hard to make it. All the notes from her book is on the exam. Study, study, study... Lab is fun, quiz is always hard.
This teach is very hard but she is very GOOD! I passed her class with a B while working 40+ hours a week. For sure be read to study! a lot of information. She is an amazing teacher, very helpful if you have questions, and her lectures are clear. There is no homework. Class just consists of Tests, Quizzes, and UNKs. Take this teacher. she's AMAZING!
She is an excellent instructor. Expect to wok for your grade.
Gives out study guides that coincide with tests, Essay Qs are hard but straight from the study guide. Do ANY and all extra credit, will only get 2 points, but that saved my grade from a B to an A. Homework is 1x a week, and worth barely any credit 0_0 but you'll need those points. It's hard but an A is possible, with office hours and study guide!
She is by far the best science professor I've ever had. Very clear on what she wants. Exams are straight out of study guide. Will help you if you ask. Lab quizzes were hard. Use the office hours for checking your essay questions. She likes her students to follow the rules and show discipline especially in the lab. work hard and A will be yours.
Definitely one of the hardest classes I've taken for my nursing prereq. Perchez is tough but fair. You will have to earn an A. They key is to study as much as you can. Perchez is the only teacher I felt pushed me to become better. I highly recomend if you want the best education. Utilize office hours for any questions and work hard.
Perchez is the best teacher I've ever had. She is very dedicated and passionate about teaching her students. An A in this class will be challenging but is achievable with lots of studying. Verify your essay questions during office hours to make sure youve gotten everything. Don't miss any labs. Highly recommend those serious about nursing.
Professor Perchez is an amazing and inspirational teacher. She really challenges her students because she wants them to be the best, and wants them to be well prepared for their future carriers. Her exams are challenging, but she provides you with lecture notes and study guides that tell you exactly what's going to be on the test.
Her test grading is ridiculous. If your essay questions are not exact replicas from her power points then you will definitely get points docked. Lab is fun, but lots of work. She has an optional exam to replace a previous exam score... everyone takes it. Confide in your classmates and study hard. Don't get discouraged, her grading sucks, not you.
Lots of work, but she makes it fun and easy. She keeps lecture interesting. Perfect her study guides and you will be prepared for each quiz and test. Lab is fun, but be prepared to schedule time to come in on other days to work on unknowns. Overall, I learned a lot and had more fun than I expected. Perchez is easy to talk to and will help you.
She is so matter-of-fact and by far the most organized professor I have ever encountered. I received a B, but only because I barely studied for all of her exams. She makes micro enjoyable and easy to learn. I definitely recommend taking her class, especially her lab.
class is not hard if you put in the time and effort. lecture is straight forward as far as exams, in lab however she gets very tricky with the questions. she came off as very unaproachable and instead of talking to you one on one about something done wrong she says it in front of the whole class i found that a bit unprofessional.
The first day of class was unpleasant because she treated the class like children with all these ridiculous rules and a hw assignment on why we think terms about kindness, teamwork, and punctuality was important. She is smart, however lacks the basic speech making component of not taking her audience into consideration when formatting info.
She is a lazy teacher. She reads off a powerpoint and gives you fill in the blank notes. Her exams are difficult and poorly written. She has grammatical errors all over them. For her short answer she doesn't want you demonstrate that you understand concept in your own words, she wants you to write her words. I do not recommend her at all.
Have to really study and go to her office hours to check over study guide essay questions to even get a chance at an A. Labwork is doable. Make time outside of class to work on your lab unknowns. Quizzes will confuse you. Expect this class to be hard. DON'T take it with anatomy or physio. Honestly, if you doubt yourself, drop out early.
Professor Perchez was great! I only had her for lecture, not lab. If you start studying early and study a lot , you will pass. This is a tough class with lots of information, but it is totally doable. All of her exams come right out of the study guide and she will go over your notes with you outside of class to make sure you have the correct info.
Perchez was an amazing micro teacher! Not an easy A, but you will do well if you PUT IN THE EFFORT! I was 10 points away from an A with endless hours of studying. Her lecture exams are straight from the study guide. Take your short answers to her office hours for her to check. Lab quizzes are tough- STUDY! Unknowns are worth a lot, so try!
Extremely organized. Exam and quiz study guides are extremely straightforward. Take advantage of office hours- ask any questions you might have. She wants to help you and she wants you to do well but she also wants to see you put in the time and effort. Returns graded material quickly. Not super nice but extremely respectable. Take her.
She brings up things on the exam that she doesn't mention in class, her grammar and punctuation is way off and she purposely wants to trick you on exams. Shes very strict when grading then essay questions on the exams. Hard professor. would not take again and a lot of students are retaking micro because of her.
Mrs. Perchez does not want to re-explain anything she just wants to do it her way and go about her day. I don't think she cares about her students, she's there to teach you and if you don't get it too bad. Her quizzes in lab are insane she tries very hard to trick you in lecture exams. I would never recommend her as a professor.
Terrible teacher thats all I have to say.
When reading these comments know that microbiology is not going to be easy no matter who you take. She gives you all the information and makes herself availabe for office hours to go over your study guide so take advantage of that from the start. Getting an A is possible but you will definitely have to work for it.
Her tests are incredibly hard. Microbiology isnt easy and she doesnt make the material any easier. She spends a lot of time figuring out ways to confuse people on exams.
I had her for both lab/lecture and I loved that class! It was extremely fun- BUT you really have to do your work in there. Everything on the study guides are on the test so come into her office hours and do it! Shell take the time to look over it and correct it. She wants you to succeed. However, make sure you KNOW your stuff! Tests are tricky.
absolute worst teacher I have ever taken I have gotten A's in anatomy and phisio with bad teachers however perchez is a whole other level. Her exam questions make no sense, her english is horrible, she will mark you wrong on the written poriton for missing simple words such as "is or of". Material is not hard, perchez trys to make is hard.
Don't be discouraged by other reviews. She is amazing. I enjoyed her lab and lectures. Very knowledgeable. Lectures are not boring and love her style of teaching. Her study guides for quizzes and exams are hers unlike other profs. Do the study guides and have her check then during office hours. Know what's in the study guide and you should be good
This was the hardest of the pre-nursing classes. Professor Perchez is not the most exciting lecturer and lecture was just boring. Form a study group ASAP and ask questions about the short answer portion of the study guide on review day. She'll give maybe 5 points of extra credit the whole semester, but you'll need every last point.
I took this course with her years ago and judging by the comments here she hasn't changed a bit. She made the tests especially hard and I remember her marking me down for spelling even when I was spot on on a very difficult concept write in answer. The tests are tricky and she has a lot of wiggle room to mark grades down even for great students.
This was the only prerequisite class that I did bad in for the nursing program. Perchez is a nice lady outside of class but she makes it extra hard on purpose. Got marked wrong for giving the text book answer for microscope instead of her answer lol. That should tell you everything you need to know about this class. Barley passed
already a very hard class(hardest of nursing prereqs) and it was made even harder. test format & wording was always weird & confusing. It didnt seem like she cared about her students & their aspirations as she was very eager to take off points throughout the whole semester. She is a tough grader and the really is NO room for error here
She is TERRIBLE. She makes the class so much difficult plus she does not care about you or your grade what matters to her is taking points off on purpose. please DON'T TAKE HER you will be very disappointed.
Michele Perchez is a tough teacher that pushes u in a way that totally prepares u for nursing school. I took her for lecture only but her study guides are literally completely on point for the exams. U need to go to her office hours and she will go over it with you. What she wont do is baby u or coddle your hand. U need to be ready to be pushed.
Professor Perchez isn't as awful as all these reviews claim. She is TOUGH, but with a critical class like this, should you expect any less? Study guides are KEY, know them 100%+ and you'll be fine. She is a VERY tough grader, she'll mark you off for a single incorrect word, but she's not impossible. She does not coddle, but we are all ADULTS here.
DO NOT TAKE HER. She makes the class 30 times harder than it needs to be, and does not care at all about her students. She expects you to do nothing else in you life besides study for this class. She expects word for word answers and honestly no amount of studying is ever enough.
Perchez is a great instructor. This class is ALOT of work. The most I've ever done in a Biology course. The exams/quizzes are tricky but it just means you need to pay attention to the question. I suggest re-reading if you're unsure. Submit your study guide answers to her and she will assist you in exactly what you need to memorize. YOU WILL WORK!
Whatever you do, do not take microbiology with Professor Perchez. She is an extremely harsh grader, and will not hesitate to take off points for extremely minor errors. She is not accommodating to students, which makes it nearly impossible to get a decent grade for nursing majors. Our class averages for each exam were mediocre, at best.
Yes BIO 152 is not the easiest course, but it shouldn't be. It's a tough topic, and Professor Perchez does a great job of teaching it. The class is structured in such a way that you really do learn the material well. She's not, you know, the super sweetest lady ever, but she's whip smart, fair, and someone I definitely admire. Highly recommend.
Lectures were torture. Little-to-no student participation. Teaches by rote in a monotone during lecture. Low energy. Humor was often cutting. Labs were better. There's a lab book (tailored to this school) and a study guide. In fairness, not trying to 'getcha' on test/quiz questions. Sorry it didn't work out. Subject is fascinating.
Since it is a pandemic and I understand that its hard for teachers as well to adjust to zoom, so Im cutting some slack. The reviews for the tests she gives out DID NOT help, be prepared to do alot of self studying. She directly reads off the slides but is understanding to SOME late assignments
sorry but one of the worst professors ive had. the labs are dumb online and so long and dont make sense cuz its ONLINE. quizzes and tests every single week and she posts them last minute. she made hella mistakes uploading and grading stuff. only reason i passed is cuz my biologist sister took the exams for me. just dont take her :) nice lady tho!
There's so much work it doesn't even make sense. She just reads slides and the lecture takes forever.
Given the pandemic, it's expected things are going to be messy. Her exams had typos and missing graphs. She was not very accommodating, replies to messages late. If you take her online, be prepared to study and learn on your own. Study guides are your life-saver. Overall, wouldn't recommend it but sometimes there's no other choice. Good luck!
Honestly one of the worst teachers. Yes she is a nice lady but gives out so much work. There are tests every week and she gives you no time to take them which is frustrating. The lectures are not extremely long but she goes through the slides WAY too fast which makes it hard to take accurate notes. Also she never replies to emails.
These science classes are never going to be easy. I think she made the class easier to understand with simple language. She never picked on anyone to just answer. Put the time into study, watch her lecture videos, turn in all the work on time, every point counts.
Worst teacher I EVER had. Had her pre-covid, I asked her so many times to help and what to do to do better and she basically ignored me. She didnt care about the students at all. Shes just passionate about specimens. She should go be a scientist. Definitely not qualified to be a teacher.
i am only in the third week but man does she suck. the class is 100% online with the lab and lecture attendance optional. the labs make zero sense because they are tailored to in-person labs. she requires too much from you that she can't even do herself. 100% do not take her. she will just stress you out.
Overall this professor was really sweet. I took her online class and participation to lecture/lab was completely optional. She was laid-back! The only thing that I would say is that I personally found it kind of hard to pay attention during our zoom lectures. I just felt like she wasn't very thorough or I guess I just found it hard to understand.
Professor Perchez makes a class as difficult as microbiology very doable. She is very fair and very supportive of her students. Be sure to go to her office hours!! :)
Does not care about her students at all, and the material no matter how well you do in lab is all dependent on exams.
Stay away from this professor!!! Half of the class failed because of her and she is just no good. She has no compassion towards her students whatsoever and could care less about them. All she cares about is what she is teaching us and not even if we understand it. Most of the time there wasn't even a study guide provided and tough grader.
Do NOT even think about taking this professor! She is careless when it comes to her students and even if you ask her the most simplest question you are stuck on, she will make you feel stupid! She is a super tough grader on the dumbest things and has no compassion. Her tests have nothing to do with that she teaches. Don't take her.
I took Professor Perchez in Spring of 2023 while also attending HS and she's honestly the best Biology professor at Grossmont College. She inspired me to do my best and because of her, I've chosen Biology as my major. If you don't study you'll fail this class, she wants you to learn the material she teaches and she'll help you too. 10/10 Prof
She grades her own way not following school rules and she isent clear in her lecture or study guide on what she wants.when she gives us the exams where allowed to use study guide but she'd not clear and honestly the whole class struggles with exams because of this and she's not motivational if she thinks your going to fail and blows u off alot
I changed my major because she made me feel like I would do awful in that major she's no help and dosent care if a student is struggling. Her exam question are confusing and she gives u so much work like she thinks she's the only class your taking!
Professor Perchez is a great professor. Do the study guides and attend class and you are guaranteed to get a good grade. Micro is a difficult subject but she made it easy to understand. She replies to emails quickly, always accessible outside of class, and is understanding of others' circumstances.
The only good thing is she's accessible outside of class. She micromanages and is controlling. Lab was stressful as we often had no idea what to do and were terrified to ask questions. She's dismissive when speaking to students and assumes you are lazy or dumb just for asking a ?. Very disorganized flow of class which made it even more stressful.
She is an amazing microbiology professor. She encourages the student to think and solve the problem by themselves first. Then she will provide great feedback to help you figure out the issues. Be prepared about the classes, and study guides definitely will help you understand important concepts. She is caring and hope her student succeed.
Professor Perchez's class can be challenging, but engaging with her teaching style and using resources like Unstuckstudy for study prep can really help. She's caring, though strict, and will support you if you put in the effort.
She's not a bad person. But she's not the best teacher. On my classes final, she allowed us one page of open notes and the highest grade was an 82% nobody got an A and she didn't curve. That's how insanely hard the test was. Nothing like the study guide and she said she wasn't one of those teachers. Here's a warning; she is. Nice lady but no
• Several Zero point assignments • Office hours are mandatory to get a passing grade, her words • Career Exploration Paper that is worth actual points & takes from time needed for her incredibly tricky exams • makes comments to other staff members about "a bunch of nursing hopefuls in a very condescending manner • DO NOT TAKE IF SDSU is your goal
Professor Perchez is fantastic! Replies and posts grades almost instantly, keeps great office hours, and turns a tough course into something genuinely engaging. Grades rest entirely on quizzes and exams, but if you complete her study guides (she will check them prior to tests) and you'll nail every quiz and pull A/Bs on tests. Absolutely take her!
Perchez is great, smart, and cool! She's pretty serious in the first 10 weeks, but becomes really chill/sweet in the last month or so. Her class is quite quiz/exam heavy, so you must do well on those. No practical exams, only TWO unknowns, and you must study if you want an A. Always DO WHAT SHE ADVISES YOU TO DO!! And go to office hours.
