This was the 2nd time I took Stats. I failed the first time. I got B+ with this teacher. She is so nice and so helpful. She made me actually like stats and understand it so well. She gives a lot of HW...but the prepare you so well for the tests! Take her!

The material for the class sucks, she tries to make it as clear and interesting as possible and she does a pretty good job. FYI- type ALL homeworks, even if they require 1 word answers, and learn to live by APA style

Tough class, but she's an awesome professor. She teaches the subject at a nice, relaxed pace and offers help whenever you need it. The tests are tough, you definatly have to put in your hours of studying but she takes alot of the pressure off.

Van Volkom is by far the best professor!.. I almost dropped stats after failing the first test, but she teaches the class in a way that everyone understands and I ended up with an A. AWESOME professor - would take her again anytime. By the way definately take the homework seriously- it'll help you in the end.. type it and highlight if she asks!

This could have been a trainwreck of a class, but the way she teaches it, its pretty hard to get completely lost. Not easy stuff, but as long as you do the HWs and exam reviews you'll be fine. Would take her again anytime.

Dr. V is extremely tough, but SOOOOOO worth it. I took her for stats and Dr. C for experimental in the same semester, and I was so prepared for thesis it was amazing. The two of them together are AWESOME!!! Just make sure you go to class ON TIME.

She is a very good teacher. If you read the chapters beforehand and take really good notes in class, you should have no problem on the exams. She is fairly tough but if you study, you will do fine. Its important not to miss her class, either.

Just do the work required of you and you will pass no problem. I only got an A- because I slacked off for studying for the first test.

Professor Van Volkom is easily one of my favorite professors at MU. She is so willing to help you out and is very understanding if you miss class due to illness, etc. She gives a lot of notes but they are very thorough and make her tests that much easier to study for. She is a very sweet lady and is pretty funny too. I highly recommend her classes.

I loved Van Volkom! She's an amazing teacher and she truly is passionate about what she does. I recommend her for PY-220. The class was a lot of work and is writing intensive, however, I would not have taken it with any other teacher.

She makes one of the hardest classes you'll ever take as an undergrad psych student as easy as possible by clear teaching, constant practice, &her own intelligence/ willingness to help. She'll answer any questions you have. Do your best! She cares that you understand :) Challenging not boring. Overall just an amazing highly respectable professor.

I had Dr. Van Volkom for Social Psych and she made the class interesting. The material wasn't hard but a lot can be repetitive. However, she presented it in a way that made it easy to remember and distinction between all the different theories. She's really nice and is willing to help out the students. Must take her before you graduate!

Van Volkom is passionate about the subject and cares for her students. Lectures are a bit long but very interesting. Only two tests in the semester (midterm and final) and mostly multiple choice and pretty easy if you study. She assigns projects and papers but they're very easy and they won't take you long. I would definately take her again.

Great teacher explains everything and makes it interesting. I took Health Psychology and they keep track of participation so just say a couple words per class. Only tests are midterm and final. The guest speakers are interesting make sure you go. Don't forget to post on ecampus every week! I learned a lot and loved the class.

Took her this semester for social psychology, she is a really good professor and gives a lot of examples throughout the class to help you understand the material. She expects participation its 20 percent of your grade. Overall good experience

I really learned a lot in this class and I feel super prepared for thesis because of it! She also has an impeccable sense of humor!

So sweet. She is really strict about deadlines so if you have discussion posts make sure you submit it on time because she will not accept it if it is even an hour late. Overall she was very fair. You have to take your own notes and she doesn't provide a study guide but the material was not too difficult. I would definitely take her in the future.

Dr. Van Volkom is personable, caring, & very funny. She designs the class in a way that breaks up the work so it is more manageable. She also provides many writing guides online. She has progress checks that help prevent procrastination (was SOOO grateful for them). Would take her again in a heart beat and recommend her for Research III & IV!

She's a great professor, wish she would've had some more grades in the system so that everything wouldn't be weighted so heavily but overall she was great! Get the textbook because she made us do critical thinking questions from it. Lectures were common sense. Tests were a little more difficult but she's one of the best teachers you'll find here.

Dr. Van Volkom is a great professor. This class was fully online, so you are fully responsible for doing the assignments and lectures on your own time. She is always available via email. The material was always interesting. It was a well-organized class. Weekly lectures, discussion posts, 2 exams, and one writing assignment. It was a breeze!
