She is very helpful and responsible teacher. She taught really good though the class started early in the morning. Take her class and you'll have a solid base for your math skills
Ms. Wallace is a very dedicated teacher. She is always willing to help you in her office hours. Take homework into consideration to prepare you for the exam because her tests are long. The problems require thinking and work to do. If you feel like you're falling behind, she is willing to help you. She is also really friendly!
I would get confused with her notes. She would talk about one thing then jump to another.
very disorganized, jumps around when explaining and gets lost in work.late to class alot.copied homework from other teachers and from other universities.gave a study guide w/o a solution page.students were told to make the solutions which were never checked for accuracy. homework was rarely returned. tests were harder than homework assigned
Very willing to help out, but not very good at doing so. Extremely disorganized. Unclear. Changes her mind a lot. The tests don't match up with the homework (In other words, they're insanely difficult). The frustrating part is I felt like I understood the material very well, but then I'd always do poorly on her tests.
I took her Math 147 and 148 classes. I got 4.0 in both classes. She is really kind and helps students a lot IF we ask. If you are good at Math, I recommend you to take her class. You don't have to go to class because she doesn't count. Just submit all homework and get good scores on tests.
She is very nice and helpful, I took 156 in SPR and waited to get in her 148 class in Fall. If you have a great interest in Math, 4.0s is not a problem. She is my favourite teacher.
The best and easiest teacher forever. She has lots of extra credits. I thought I might did bad on the final exam but I still got a 4.0 because I had lots of extra credits. Do the homework and study whatever she tell you to. You will do good on her class. One easy project, it took me about one hour and usually you will get full point.
SHE IS HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! she explains well, but then her homework assigned and tests DO NOT MATCH UP with her lectures!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WOULD NEVER IN MY LIFE TAKE HER AS A TEACHER. SHE IS NOT A GOOD TEACHER AND SHOULD FIND A BETTER PROFESSION OR GET BETTER AT WHAT SHE DOES. THERE ARE BETTER TEACHERS TO TAKE, I WOULDNT RISK A BAD GRADE WITH HER!!!!
she's nice! very patient in answering questions, her teaching is good!
She doesn't explain much in class and she is very intimidating. USE OFFICE HOURS!!!! She is VERY helpful and works with you until you understand the material. UNDERSTAND the material. If you don't pay attention at the begining... you will struggle greatly in the end. Her tests are much more challanging then the homework so study hard. Not bad tho.
This would be a good instructor for you if your good/ok at math, but if you struggle with it, best bet to find another teacher. Expects the students to already be great at math and be experts just about. Oh yeah, and you can't use calculators on the quizzes.
She is a really nice instructor and very patient.
Poor teacher. Confusing, unclear, and often poorly prepared. Doesn't return homework/quizzes, and when she does, it looks like she used 5 minutes going through them. Late for classes, and seems to have little or no control. Stay away
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS IF YOUR NOT SUPER STRONG ON YOUR MATH SKILLS. No calculator on the quizzes and she puts questions on the tests that she never talked about in class. Very difficult class. Nice person. Bad teacher. If you miss a day its like you missed a week.
She's excellent at being willing to help during office hours, USE THEM!!! Also brush up on your algebra you'll need it!
I am a seasoned college student and I have never come across a teacher this arrogant. She does not have the students' best interests in mind. She says that she tells you what material is on the quiz and then throws problems in that we did not go over. I got a C- had a 3.9 GPA before taking this class. Take this class from someone else if you can.
Worst teacher ever, and I mean it! Please find anyone else to take this class with. She tells you she gives you a practice quiz before each of the actual quizes but she lies. She only does that for the first quiz. She also has a batemper and yells at students. She puts the hardest possible problems on tests and then doesn't allow the use of a calc.
If you have a hard time with Math then this is not the right instructor for you. She zooms through the material and bounces from topic to topic. Good Luck!
Ms.Wallace is an awesome teacher! Class is'n easy but she made it very interesting. Be ready to work hard and you'll get succsess. Tests are harder than HW or in class practice. I love her class and enjoyed every moment in class!!! Thank you Ms.Wallace!!!
I don't know what happened to these other people but I loved Michele! She really knows the material and she is very willing to help get students caught up and make sure you retain what she is teaching. Best math teacher I've ever had.
I thought she was incredibly hard and part of the problem was I didn't really enjoy the material which made her teaching worse because she is a fast paced teacher. The class itself is very hard and she is strict.
She was very unorganized with her lectures which made taking notes hard. She would start on one topic and jump right to the next topic then back. And she took forever to get your tests back to you. Tests were a lot harder than the homework. Towards the end of the quarter it felt like she rushed through the last chapter.
She is a nice teacher and are willing to answer any question. At first I couldn't get good score, but she gave me a lot of extra credit in the end of the quarter. If u just remember the problem she teaches in the class, and do all the homework by yourself and never skip class, I am sure u can get 4.0 just like me.
I loved her class, and the taching style flowed together from one topic to the next. She made learning math fun and exciting.
I love her class. She is very helpful and really nice professor.
I love her class. She is very helpful and very nice to answers all questions. Take her class.
Before the first test I thought I was gonna get a 4.0 because she explained things so well but after I realized that she is a super strict grader. stray from her teaching a little bit and you get marked down. Be prepared to learn things her way even if you have some previous calculus background.
this class is totally freaked up! never take her class,,, she screws my grade now... so random homeworks and too much is unnecessary.... never take her class
I loved her class. If you study hard and do all the homework, you will pretty confident to do the test well. All her tests and final were from activities worksheet in class and the homework. I recommend you should take her class.
I really enjoyed her class. It was very helpful. She is a very nice professor. If you work hard, you will do all her tests easily. I recommend you should take her class.
You really have to work for your grade. If you ask for help, she will provide. You will adapt to her teaching style, but she does move quickly. I got a 4.0 but it was probably the hardest class I have taken. I put in lots of time and energy. Brush up on algebra skills beforehand! It's your prereq knowledge that will screw you over, not the calculus
Boring class. To me it wasn't that hard the way people complain, but I've had prior calculus knowledge. For most int'l students, I think the class would be fairly easy (because of different math curriculum). Form a study group, use the forum and study for tests with the review papers she gives you. This class's credit doesn't really transfer tho.
After taking many other professor for Math, I realized how GOOD Michelle actually was. Her lectures are very organized, with handouts and practice tests. Math concepts are sometimes difficult but she's able to make you understand the lessons. She doesn't even required textbook or calculator. Take her class
Michele is amazing. She's dedicated to teaching and it's easy to see that she genuinely cares about her students. The class is fast-paced so if you miss a couple of straight days, you'll need to catch up and she's willing to take time out of her personal schedule to help you. I was worried about math at first, but she made math easy! Great person!
Material is hard, and there is lots of homework. She is willing to help students. Tests are long and difficult. She doesn't assign hw using the textbook.
Michele is an amazing teacher I've ever had in Math classes. She gives a tons of homework, but she patiently teaches every single direction of solution of the question as well. Definitely I would take her class again.
the teacher is not very hard. the questions in the test are all from the online homework. though there will be a lot of homework, the grade for your homework must be 100% and it is easy to get good grade in the test if you understand all your homework.
Very nice professer
You need to do a lot of work to pass this class. However, she is a very noce professor with clear lectures and really helpful. Good luck.
When you try to ask her a simple question, she comes off a bit rude, and tends to REALLY, REALLY over explain things, as if you have no clue what you're doing. Unorganized, made an assignment due two weeks ago, has yet to collect it. Changes due dates all the time. However, she is an easy grader and will give you test questions before hand.
I took two of Wallace's Math classes, she gave us pretty much assignments on Wamap. However, she never tells us about her grading of GPA . In another word, as long as I work hard on homework and finished most of them before the end of the quarter (All homework actually due on the end of the quarter) I will still get at least a 3.5 above.
Rude, and yells
Ms. Wallace is frequently rude and condescending. She is un-organized. Her style is speed math. I ended up teaching myself. She will without consideration to your other classes, give very long and difficult assignments with only a few days notice. Even just before a midterm when you should be preparing. Her tests are much too long and difficult.
Rude, yells a lot, and condescending, not fan
She is the best! She is organized and patient. Love her.
She gives out too much home work. It never ends. She doesn't give you much time for anything else.
She is a teacher whom I will definitely recommend to my friends!! Although yes she does gives plenty of homework, she also gives enough time for us to work on them. Tests are not so difficult as long as you study hard. She teaches very well and with very much detail as well. She also is very kind and helpful in helping you during office hours!
I like that she goes more in depth about problems than other teachers but, as others have said she's very rude and condescending, pretty much verbally abusive because the tone of voice she uses reminds me of my time with my abusive mother :( I felt anxious coming to class because she raises her voice.
Lazy, and was not prepared for class. She has a rude tone, and get irritated very easily when kids ask questions or don't understand
gives a ridiculous amount of homework and gets bad attitude when ask for help. very inpatient uses bad tone and constantly yells at kids for not doing their homework fast enough. Constantly changes due dates for stuff, and doesn't give us a lot of time for all the assignments would not take again
I love her lectures, they are clear and helpful. Even though there are a lof of homework, you always have multiple opportunities to try for it. Also she gives exam guide practice ahead, which is really heplful to the real exam.
She's a nice teacher overall. Even though she gives out assignments that are lengthy it is pretty much do able and once when your able to do that. Then the tests she assigns will be very easy.
She is a good teacher, but she doesn't talk about our homework in class. She always assigns a lot of homework, like 2 days due 2 wamap with more than 20 questions.
I like her class a lot. She is actually a good teacher and she is willing to spend her time after class to help me. If you study the exam homework she gives, you will do fine in the test.
She have a rude tone and always yelling at students. She often say some words that really negative and discourage. The lecture is chaos, she usually jumping around instead of finish single question or just skip half of question.
Her tone is rude and sometimes she increases her volume astonishingly in one second, or just screaming. Anyway she would probably shock you in any way. Then about the homework, she gives over A THOUSAND questions for a quarter, and those math questions some were extremely hard to calculate. If you wanna experience stimulation, choose her please!
Do not take this class if your algebra skill are poor. Make sure they are solid before you take her. The first day of class she gave 100 math problem that was due in 5 days. One time she yelled at the whole class. This changed the atmosphere in the room and it was very difficult to get back in task and grasp the concepts she was teaching.
She is a great professor. Her tone voice can sound rude sometime but it does not mean is she a bad teacher. You can get 4.0 in her class if you work hard. Yes, she does not explain the homework or reviews the material before the test but she gives specific study guides for you to study. I took her class twice and both had good grade.
She might be a good professor if you dont like group work projects at all. As long as "YOU" complete all homework, quizes, and exams, you'll be successful in her class. In wamap, She puts 50questions as assignments on average. (At most a hundred)
Michele Wallace is basically like the Donald Trump of teaching math. You cannot predict her behavior, she comes off very rude and sometimes childish. But she is extremely good at teaching, actually wants what is best for you, and is very caring for your success. If you are serious about learning math and willing to work for it, she's THE choice.
Michele is very confusing and unhelpful. The first day she gave us 90 problems that had nothing to do with the class. If you take her as a professor, you won't understand anything. If you ask her a question, she is rude. She assigns too much homework. Avoid her.
Very easy class if you have time to do at least 1 hour of homework every single day of the quarter) AND if you go to class regularly. Pay attention during class; she specifically gives out her exam questions that are worth 15+ points. Her personality can be harsh at times, but she is a good teacher and always willing to answer clarifying questions.
Shes a really good professor if you really want to learn and understand calculus 1. A lot of people thinks shes rude because she has a lot of expectation on his students. However, she teaches really well and i really recommend her. Her tests are also easy as long as you study from the study guide she gave because its so similar.
I take 142. I like her because she helps me a lot when I have questions. If you understand what she teach, then it is easy to get high scores.
She may come off as rude sometimes, but it's not meant to be taken personally. It's for your own learning and it works well. There's a lot of homework that allows for practice, she gives extra credit on tests, and the study guides are the same as the tests. She prepares you for more rigorous math classes in the future, which is very helpful.
Great teacher! Over the quarter I did nearly 800 homework questions, but the homework is well explained through her lectures. Tests are closely based on homework and the study guides. If you want to be successful in future math classes, take her class but be prepared to work hard.
She is one of the worst teachers I have ever had--and considering I have both bachelor and master's degrees, I have had plenty of college-level instructors. She assigns twice the homework of other instructors, never reviews or checks for class understanding, spends class time insulting the class, and is proud of being the toughest around.
Simply forgot to put the negative sign in one of the problems and told me to quit college. Moreover, she assigns tons of homework to the point you have no time for other classes.
Ridiculous amount of homework and is unhelpful. Avoid her because she is childish.
Avg. 10-20 min. a day insulting the class for various reasons. Serious! You are shown a problem once and you are on your own. If you are ever behind, good luck. You will live in the math learning center attempting to catch up if you are new to Calculus or rusty. Pursue another instructor who does their job. Would never take a class with her again.
She would bend over backwards to help you if she sees you trying.
Prof. Wallace has been very available throughout the quarter; she will coordinate with students who feel a need to meet outside with class, but do not have time to visit during her AM and PM office hours. Very straightforward with concepts, take good notes on those. Emphasis on active learning, not memorization. Last thing, don't be shy to ask.
If you want to be on the brink of tears every day, then take this class. She spends half the class yelling at students for various reasons and assigns over a thousand hw problems over the quarter, leaving little time to study. She teaches well and is always available for help, but to me, it wasn't worth the amount of stress.
Her everyday teaching was her sounding disappointed at us students and talking like we didn't know our left from our right . If you didn't understand how to do something then "You should just drop out of college now." If you have problems with anxiety I highly recommend that you do not take her.
After reading the latest 2 reviews before mine, it made me laugh. Yes, this prof scolds and gives insane amount of HW. At the end of the day, it is all about your attitude. I struggled 3/4 of the quarter, I disliked her. But she made me think differently in math. I still got 98.7% overall. Put in the hard work and determination, you will get it.
LOT OF HOMEWORK!!!!!!!! Basically you will need to work on wamap 5hrs more everyday to finish her homework (include weekend Too many questions for each test and not enough time for sure, and she won't give you high grade for writing test no matter how much and how hard you are, I won't take her class anymore :(
She gives lots of homework everyday, and I need hours everyday in order to complete them. She also gives hard test questions that we dont have enough time to finish. She is willing to help outside of class if you are confused on something, but she just expects too much on the homework questions and the test questions. She also grades class notes.
LOT'S OF WORK. But is fair and if you do the work you will pass the class, just be expected to earn it.
I sent her three messages throughout the quarter. She never responded to any of them. She spends half of every lecture insulting the class and going off on tangents. She assigns too much homework and will extend the due date after it is due without telling anyone. If you want to feel like you need to rip your hair out you should take her.
The most homework and exam course ever. She means that students can do 20 questions a day to achieve the effect of practice. In my opinion, this is not the case because these questions are not very simple. Exams are disasters. Complete the 150-point exam in 90 minutes. She will also check her notes. You must write down every word she said.
I had Mrs. Wallace for Calc 1 online after being out of school for 6 years and I'm thankful for having such a tough teacher because she helped me learn everything I missed in Precalc and Trig. She gives 5 lectures a week, mandatory in person weekly quizzes, and usually assigns around 50 math questions a week. If you want to really learn, take her.
Wallace is by far one of the best professors that I have ever had. Her lectures make learning the subject very easy to learn the subjects. She gives about 30-40 hw problems more or less every week. Lectures make the hw problems very easy tho. Study guides are VERY helpfully, every test is just a some hw problems with different numbers.
I took Professor Wallace for 151 and people say its homework heavy. But the homework problems are usually short questions until the last 10. Lectures are needed because the notes are just copied and graded. 3 exams and a Final, first exam is very easy second and third exams are average. If you turn in all of your notes theres extra credit on finals
All exams are just homework problems, teacher helps for hours if you need.
DO NOT TAKE HER. Teachers who brag about how difficult their class is need to take a look at themselves. Tons of busy work and gives out homework like she thinks hers is the only class you're taking. You'll have to watch an hour and a half lecture every single day and then written submit notes like a child. One of the worst teachers I've ever had.
Simply, if you are a Lazy person, you should not take this one. In contrast, I strongly recommend this class if you want to rise and are ready to do work hard for your high-level mathematics, then this class is the perfect one for you.
As a student who took her Online WAMAP course for Calculus 1, things may be different when things get back in person, but overall, its a doable class. Mrs. Wallace is very thorough in her teaching, however she's a bit intimidating. Her only downsides are the homework amounts she gives out, which at the beginning of the year is definitely a lot.
I've taken Professor Wallace for 3 quarters now, and she has helped tremendously. First, don't take this class if you're not willing to do the work. She assigns a few homework problems daily and has live meetings. If you do homework your grade will be padded. She is incredibly helpful and gives tons of practice to ready you for later math.
she goes into detail and really makes you work for your grade. If you have a math-based major or career in mind, this class is probably for you. Every day we get a 1-hour lecture with required notetaking, with 4-5 meets throughout the semester. She does post-study guides for all quizzes and meet's! This class left me overworked and stressed!!!!!!
THIS TEACHER IS THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. You will have to watch an hour of lecture EVERYDAY and write NOTES for no reason. You have to do 100 questions A WEEK and join her grade meets, where she gives you questions and you have to answer them with steps to her. Exams are just the worst. She gives work out like you have no other class.
This teacher gives you a HOUR+ lecture video to watch everyday, and have to take notes on the lecture video everyday! Have oral exams every 2 weeks which made absolutely NO sense! And the tests are NOT It. And have Homework questions which are 50+ everyday week which have to be completed weekly on time. If you cant work hard, DON'T take this class.
PLEASE DON'T TAKE HER. The more you move into the quarter the more you realize how much stress her class is. She gives out so much HW. You have to watch 1 hour 30 min lectures EVERY SINGLE DAY followed with 100+ HW questions for the week with a 100 point exam or 25 point meets. I think there are way better and less stressful professors.
JUST DON'T TAKE HER CLASS, ITS A NIGHTMARE!!!
Had to miss class/hw when I got covid. Notified her and asked for extensions. She was weirdly rude considering what I was going through, but she begrudgingly said she would extend. She never did. I sent her 2 more messages and she never responded. So unprofessional considering SHE grades YOU on responding to her. Good reviews avoided her bad side.
She gave so many assignments per week it can be over 100 questions, and you still have lectures for a minimum of 3 hours per week. Do not take her if don't like math and the purpose you take math is just for requirements. She made me hate math more, and I was stressed while I took her class, I didn't enjoy math at all that time.
This professor made me hate math. I left her class crying on multiple occasions. She isn't understanding. She gives multiple assignments each week, grades your notes, posts hour+ lectures every day, and will not accept any late work. The exams are challenging and require hours of studying. There is no good reason to take her class.
I am not even halfway through the quarter and I regret taking her class. This professor is rude and isn't understand any personal things going on outside the classroom. She has at least an hour of lecture every day and 100+ homework questions on WAMAP. I have never struggled this badly in a class. I would strongly not recommend it.
She is a very nice lady who explains questions well and gives useful feedback. The cons are, that she hands out way too much homework. 100 questions per week plus 1-2 hours video we have to watch and take notes. If you chose to take her class, prepare to spend at least 4 hours per day getting everything done.
For this class you NEED to study and be prepared everyday.
Her class is so hard. She gives an insane amount of homework. Do not take her class if you want to get a decent GPA, but for sure you will learn a lot from her class.
Expect a lot of time working on A LOT of homework and tests. She is not going easy on grading nor giving any exceptions regardless of your situation. However, she loves answering questions and giving tips on how to be successful in math or as a person. Her lectures are excellent and easy to understand. Take it if you want to be successful at math.
She grades tests off if you're able to do the problem, not if you get the right answers which is a plus. Her lectures are very long and the class feels rushed overall which makes it hard to understand what's going on. She gave out a lot of quizzes/tests, ALOT OF HW and the tests were pretty difficult. Decent teacher overall, not the best tho.
A very kind lady. She wants you to succeed and bases her grading off of your work and not much off of the correct answer. Lots and lots of homework though. Would not reccomend taking this with other classes that take up a lot of time. But if you do put in the time it should be an easy A.
Honestly speaking I've learned Math the best from this professor because of how much homework she gives and how thorough she explains the math concepts. Super open and willing to help with daily office hours, willing to go over any math during those office hours (even review from lower level math courses to any extent,) 1 hour long daily lectures.
This professor is highly skilled and among the best I have ever had. She takes the time to go over every topic in detail, ensuring that her students have a thorough understanding. Her willingness to offer assistance is unparalleled, and she takes care to lecture at a pace that enables all students to comprehend the material.
Though a tough class to take, and lots of homework, Michele Wallace is a very good instructor. She presents the material in a clear and understandable way that only a handful of instructors can do well. However, a solid effort into genuinely learning the material is necessary, or else you'll be behind. The online lectures are also very useful.
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU CAN AVOID IT she is extremely rude ands spends almost 20 minutes degrading her students on how they aren't good enough. before taking this class I thought I was pretty good at math but the test and quizzes say the opposite. you have lecture notes to turn in every week a hour thirty minutes a day. and over 100+ hw prob.
If you work, well now this class is your new job. Stressed 24/7
Just horrible
The bad rates very scared me at first, but she wasn't that bad. Taking her class will be good for you if you really go to school to study. Capture ALL the requirements at first so that you will know what you need to do during the class and don't fall behind. I think learning math needs practice, so don't complain when there's a lot of homework
Would go off topic a lot instead of talking about math during lectures. Takes a few days or sometimes does not reply to email messages. Did not feel confident while taking her class.
She taught us to tackle the problems easily. Although a very challenging class only because she gave us up to 5 or 6 assignments due every week that typically has 30-50 questions and you would think you could finish each within an hour. Nope. Nearly gave up in this class.
Please just don't take this class if you have a full time job or other things in life that's keeping you busy because this class will take up MAJORITY of your time. She gave us a lot of assignment that has 30-100 questions and even during our finals week she gave us additional 3 assignments and 2 projects to turn in. Just frustrating.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! she has like 2 hrs of lecture per day (in-person + online) almost everyday AND like 100-150 hw probs PER WEEK. shes not understanding whatsoever and will make you feel dumb if you ask questions in class. this was the worst prof ive ever had and my grades were down the drain cause of the work load.
2 words of advice, use the Tutoring center for help, and DO her study guides. If you can do those 2 things, I guarantee you will get a A. Homework questions take less then 10 seconds, and gives a lot of Extra Credit.
She is a very crabby person and yells during class at people when they don't know something. You will have 4 exams that are 13% of grade each and 2 finals that are 18% of your grade. Don't get behind because you won't catch up. There is 100 plus homework problems a week to do.
This class will be fairly ok as long as you take good notes, attend office hours, and do all your assignments, especially extra credit. This professor was very elaborate in the way the concepts were introduced and explained which helped with the overall understanding of the materials. As long as you stay on top of the work, you will do fine.
I love the way she explained concepts and the analogies she used were very helpful. She is sassy and loud but personally I enjoyed it. You will get around 635 homework problems in the quarter. She gives you packets to write notes on. Will often times tell you whats on the exam. She does yap a lot! Which may cause you to only take 3/4 exams.
Professor Wallace taught Calc 1 well. Beware of a significant amount of homework (1-2 hr. per day). No quizzes, 3-4 exams depending on how much she talks and explains topics. She was very accessible outside class and will do Zoom office hours and post recordings to help with problems/topics. Lectures are informative and based on good handouts.
Professor Wallace is by far one of the best I've had in Greenriver college. I get that she can come off as overbearing to some, but all I saw was diligence and immense care, for her students, and the material she's teaching. If you put in the work for her classes, you will be more than rewarded for your effort with both grades and skills for future
During office hours, she has no problem spending as much time as a student needs until they understand the material. Will even check in with you on a personal level sometimes. During exams though, she does expect good performance and won't help. Her personality and analogies make the material easier to understand in my opinion.
First week we had a 90 problem assignment. Uses strictly WAMAP (no Canvas). Daily hour lectures w/ mandatory notes (scan & submit). Lectures correspond with student note packets well. Will start screaming & roasting you via lecture for no reason--scared the balls out of me. Get ready to bunker down and "EQUA EQUA EQUA" it (yes she howled that).
She is quirky and takes some getting use to. There is SO much homework and test/quiz are very hard. She does hold office hours. I would recommend taking this class while taking easier classes since it is so much work. At the end of the quarter there is some extra credit work and she drops lowest quiz. if hybird-two in person lectures 3 videos
She's got no chill (in a fun and good way). There are hundreds of practice problems and homework problems so be prepared to invest time and effort. Her lectures are awesome and highly recommended to go to her office hours. Definitely take her class if you love loud and interactive classes.
she is hard but she is amazing at teaching. Homework is a lot but will get you good exams scores with the practice. she gives extra credit on exams and homework at the end of the quarter. She's also very flexible if there are ever scheduling issues with exams or if you have a valid reason for extensions, unlike other math professors at GR:)
Honestly a great professor. Lots of homework, but I should say it was very helpful. Very organized materials. Lot of extra credit opportunity. Tests were not hard at all. Very much willing to help students. Actually one of the best lecturer I have ever seen. Highly recommend if your major is related to math.
I think, although she could often have sassy attitude, she's a GOOD lecturer. She explains well, and her quizzes are the same as the practice ones. Exams can be a little rough, but there are always extra credits. You need to devote your time to her class cuz Math142 is very impacted. Weekly scanned notes (counted as attendance) are easy credit, tho
During the first 2 hour lecture she said we have to do division long handed, no calculator. She said if you cant solve this equation in 10 seconds no one would hire us. Mandatory note taking for a grade cannot miss a thing or it's a 0. 110 math questions due every Sunday. Way too high expectations, like it's college but we have live to live too.
Great lecturer who explains math concepts clearly and offers extra help during office hours. Heavy homework load (2-3 assignments of 20-40 questions per week). Quizzes and exams mirror the study guide. She's like a strict but caring mom—will call you out but still help you. Amazing professor, passionate about her subject and students.
This class is the worst. Her lectures are videos you have to watch that is more than 1 hour long and will take hours for you to finish the handout notes she makes you HANDWRITE. if you don't watch these 1 hour+ videos then you aren't passing the class with a 2.0 and she gives tons of homework to do which will the whole day. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS.
Dropped in the first week. Immediate 30 question WAMAP/Syllabus quiz, 90 question (ALL review but longer than my final in that course) due by Thursday. 2 hour review lecture for extra credit where we're degraded if we don't know the math questions. Daily recorded lectures on top of that with required note-taking. Just started & already behind!
Mandatory hour long lecture videos EVERY day, and I mean lecture, full of condescending comments about how all of her students are lazy and bad at math, she keeps talking about how bad we'd be at job interviews and just makes the rudest comments for an hour every day, you'd think she doesnt work at a community college lol. Do not take.
When I first started I was annoyed at the constant comments on how bad students were at math but then it hit me; that little push forced me to want to prove her wrong and then after the first week the lectures got more on topic and I learned a lot. she is deftly strict. Still, with some effort and determination, you should be able to enjoy class!!!
Honestly, she seems to treat this class like a weed-out class by the end of the second week a lot of students had dropped the class if you stay behind it can be quite hard to catch up. Do your best to use the mean and condescending comments as motivation to prove her wrong about students being lazy. and Tbh I learned a lot for some reason lol
Super understanding and helpful. The weekly lectures and notes really helped me keep up with the content we were learning. If you're lazy don't take the class as there are weekly note requirements. If you're good with notes and keeping up with work you'll be able to grasp concepts easily. And you don't have to pay for the online service she uses!
First week taking this class and got instantly hit by all lectures and quizzes questions, she made me think that i should spend all the time on her class only and she would make all rude comments just to makes you feel bad.
Rather than teaching anything, she spends much time in her classes questioning (almost snarling) why we can't solve problems correctly. It seems that demeaning students is a constant theme for her.
You need to get past the degrading tone in her voice if you want to pass the class. Her lectures are straightforward if you read them with subtitles and volumes in the lowest setting to survive the random yelling and random times she gets angry. If you do the work you will pass. Extra credit is really important to do despite taking 4 hours to do.
The material & workload are quite easy: weekly notes & problem sets, & only occasional tests or worksheets. Lectures are awful though - lots of ranting, very disorganized way of presenting the concepts; she likes to draw connections/associations between concepts, but does so in a VERY unsystematic, ineffective way. Almost no grading all quarter.
She was eh. Very passive aggressive when she'd answer a question (if she would at all). Lectures consisted of a disorganized mess on the notes, ranting about how students can't learn, etc. Unless you're willing to spend 20 hours a week on notes and hw, don't take this class.
The lack of a genuinely professional is noticeable. Considering that her only grading on wamap is for exams and notes (a relatively straightforward task compared to, say, evaluating extensive English papers), it's surprising that this effort to simplify her job as much as possible further comes at the expense of students' needs. yikes.
Just wish she would stick to focusing on math and not her personal life or complaining about other students. I had to take this class for credit and to learn math. I shouldn't have to sit through a 2 hour long video that often stops math talk and goes into very bitter talk about past students' wrongful doings with math or uploading assignments.
This was one of the worst professors I have ever taken. If you aren't going to school to be an engineer she doesn't like you. Also her exams and quizzes were impossible to complete within a class period. She never allwowed claculators on quizzes and showed zero sympathy if you had anything else happening. DON'T TAKE THIS WOMEN!!!
Michele starts off very snarky, rude, and degrading in the first 2 of 4 chapter lectures. Gives weekends of time to catch up on past missing work which I appreciate, but the amount of work she gives is way too much!!!! 4-5 assignments a week with around 20-50 questions each, PLUS scanned notes. Please take another professor for your own sake.
The best thing about her is that she's very flexible with homework deadlines! The class is mostly about concepts so there are both WAMAP and paper homework. 3 quizzes and 3 exams with True/false questions as well as problems to solve. You'll just have to get used to her yapping but she does say that she's trying not to talk too much :)
My experience with this professor was great. I found it easy to follow along and I developed a greater understanding of math with her. However, I think you really need to have a love/interest in math to be able to enjoy this class, or at least it be manageable.
