Arce is a perfect example of a techer who teaches History for the fact that she likes hist. and knows it, NOT how to teach it. The class ran the show, she failed to lead OR teach what was on the test! Did NOT even touch on post-WW2 history and used maybe 50% of the book, her "Chicano Studies" class means more to her, many students struggled.

I LOVE HISTORY. Especially US history. She made it boring and dull. She completely sucked the life outta the topic and was very disconnected from the topic. I dont think she likes the topic. Always late, disorganized, cared more about her looks, confused HERSELF alot, forgot due dates, sloppy slides, and incorrect lectures. seriously.

Brainless and rude, but short and hot. Only reason I kept going to class was so I could sleep in back and dream about her. Learned more from reading the book on my own than I did from her. Did I say she was a MILF yet. Yeah thats about all she was good for. Wouldn't suggest taking her class if your wanting to learn.

As a person shes nice sorta. she is rude. told the whole class i was rude for accidently letting the door slam.disorganized.what she states will be on a quiz isnt exactly correct. i dropped her class. dont take her. i should have listened. DONT TAKE HER

Okay she is cute, but she late to class EVERYDAY. She can be VERY pissy at times, especially if she is restless. Mentions to class all the time about how she teaches mutiple classes and how she is wore out. Really UNORGANIZED and she is never prepared for the class. My advice is Take another instructor if possible.

Took her online history 18 class and she is a horrible professor. Never answers students questions and never stayed on the course schedule. She always fell behind and was too busy grading her other class papers to grade ours. The semester is almost over and half of our papers aren't even graded. Do not take her if you value your grade!

She is not a good online teacher at all. For the first few months she only graded 2 things, and I'm sure it was the computer who graded it. She doesn't update and she doesn't know what she is doing. She takes a long time to respond too. Don't take this teacher unless she's a last resort.

I am a history major and generally an A student....until this class! She was all over the place, unorganized, boring. She would be much better suited for a highschool setting. She would become annoyed when others were late yet she was late almost every single class period! Not recomended!!!

Ok here it goes.. Michelle Arce is BORING, ALWAYS LATE& just SUCKS all around. I havnt been in school for 5 years+ & taking this class was a mistake. I wish I woulda known about this website before. Like really Ms. Arce? 10 to 5 mins late ALL THE TIME.. I do not recommend her. If you take this class bring a pillow& blanket.. You'll need it!

This was one of the hardest online classes I've taken to date. There is no motivation b this Professor. Everything is picked apart and shoved right back at ya. No kudos for trying or extra creds. Very hard class with two books and no study examples just study questions. Avoid this Professor at all costs as you can see here she sux!

The lady knows her history but has no clue how to teach it. Terrible teacher!!! Grades really hard, her online lectures were simply outlines of what she probably teaches in class so they really don't help. Exams and quizzes are very hard via the online class. Would never recommend.

I made it! :O Very dull course. Her lectures appeared as if they were outlines for her slides for classes on campus. Taught myself EVERYTHING. Didn't bother to read any of her lectures. No motivation or encouragement in course. Always something wrong with my assignments. I'm generally an A student but received a B. Choose another history teacher...

This woman is by far the worst "teacher" that I have ever had the misfortune of coming in contact with. I enjoyed history until this class. She is late, all over the place and just can't seem to teach things without going on tangents. She is very rude to her students, aside from her favorites. SAVE YOURSELF. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.

One of the worst teachers I have ever had. Jumps around from topic to topic and always puts historical blame on the white person. She arrived to class minutes after the scheduled start time and had very repetitive and useless lectures. For your own good, don't take her class.

First off, I received an A in this course. That being said, she is a horrible instructor. She was only on time to class twice. Horribly unorganized. Forgot assignments, textbook, thumb drive, keys. Not informative. Lacks accountability for anything. Can't believe she teaches at the college level. She should be embarrassed. Choose someone else!!!!!

THE WORST TEACHER I've had to take my whole academic year!Not only that the worst grade I've received my whole academic year which was a "C." I tried so hard in her class. You can put in all the effort towards an assignment yet she's never satisfied. She should not be teaching! I loved history before until I took her. Save yourself some time!!!!!!

The WORST teacher ever. She's on a power trip and has an over inflated ego as to her importance in life. I have an undergraduate and graduate degree and was taking this class purely for the love of learning history, but she was so horrible I dropped the class. Wouldn't take this instructor again if my life depended upon it. Skip this instructor.

I have maintained a 4.0 GPA with 80 units and I struggled with this class. It's not the material that's hard-it's the lack of clarity and unrealistic expectations. All of her quizzes had questions that pertained to chapters not yet assigned. Her midterms and final all have long essays and you won't know until test day because she keeps them hidden.

Worst professor I've ever had. I can't believe she is still able to teach. She does not stick to her grading rubric. You may follow directions explicitly, but if she doesn't like to wording or your perception doesn't match hers, you get docked a huge percentage of points. Her quizzes have trick questions and they do not correspond to the reading.

This professor is hard to understand, usually late, and not very caring. She is odd and dresses odd. Be ready to read a lot and have her tell you that your interpretation is wrong. :

This is the absolute worst teacher I have ever encountered in my life. Not only is her class stupid hard for no reason, but she is also no help what so ever. I would not recommend this class to anyone. I honestly do not think it is possible to get full credit on a single one of her assignments, even if I offered up my soul as payment as well.

If it was possible I would have rated this professor a ----100 on every aspect of being a teacher, it is literally impossible to get a B let alone an A. I would not take this class again if my life depended on it, I would rather die and go to heaven then have to go through hell taking this class with the resurrected satan himself as a teacher.

Tests were hard no matter how much reading I did. Every test had an essay due which was a bit much. The extra credit conferences were unorganized and taught nothing. Participation in discussions were necessary and if you missed one of two deadlines (initial post or response post) then say bye to 50% of that grade. No helpful feedback from professor

Took HIST018 online in summer 2016. she requires 2 textbooks, and are alternating between these 2 text books every single week. She could have just picked one and is enough to cover the whole class. Its a sign that shes very unorganized. She cancelled few homework just because, so beware if you work in advance! DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS FROM HER!

For this class the Professor wasn't ready. The content posted on online class was dated from previous years. Almost at the end at the end of the semester she acted care free as the assignments posted was detailed. It had the requirements only. Poor organisation of work.

I will never recommend this professor to a student. Content is good but she is not familiar with it. she takes toooo long to grade the last set of assignments. Even on your holidays she is sending notification. She gives a lot of reading from various books. her posting of course work contains alot of error. like dates from previous years.

I took her twice. Late EVERY DAY. Class is 98% lecture, heavy reading fr 2 textbooks, gives a 5-7 term paper. Unorganized, loses students' work. Constantly changes schedule. Very little extra credit. Late to office hrs or doesn't even show up. Boring assignments. Difficult grader. DO NOT TAKE HER. Period.

Prof Arce, is not a teacher I would recommend. She did not grade things until the end of the semester, had trick questions on each quiz/exam, and made essays and exams open only for a few hours on one day (on an online class) which was very hard for me, because of my schedule; hence why I took an online class. Has you read 2 books. Passable, barely

Professor Arce is one of the worst professors at SCC. She is always late to class never prepared and also provided study material for an exam very late. She grades all the assignments very late and for the final narrative paper she grades hard without clear instructions. She also grades based on her perception of you as a student. What a joke!!!

Take this class if you already have prior knowledge on African American history. Otherwise, prepare to learn the material on your own. I wish I saw these comments before taking her class. I was really interested in the subject, but her lectures made it boring for me.

The lectures are not on track with the actual material. She gets off track easily. I talked to a couple other guys in my class & we all were pretty confused on what it was she was talking about most of the time. Oh, and if she offers extra credit, DO NOT HESITATE TO TAKE IT if you want anything above a C.

Holy, this teacher forgot why she assigned an assignment the day she assignment and asked us why she did. She rushed the whole class and didnt keep me interested.

Assigns a lot of work that she never seems to grade and put in the gradebook. Always makes sure her views are front and center in the lectures and the class for all to know. Very poor communicator and professor.

3/4 done with the semester, and didn't receive any grades for anything. I've been reading 120+ pages a week, along with an essay every other week. She treats the class like you are a history major. And she doesn't get back to all your emails, which has left me to just figure things out on my own. I regret taking this class with class with her.

Disappointed with my experience in this professor's class. I was looking forward to learning the material, but she seems to be disengaged from our class entirely. It's hard to know how you are performing in the course since grades are not entered on a regular basis. The format is just basic and dull - lots of reading, questions, discussion boards.

Just finished taking her class. The last assignment she posted a grade for was from September, so I have no idea what grade I will end with. Her study guides look nothing like the quizzes or tests you take. Overall, I do not like when teachers hold their student to a high standard when they do not meet it themselves.

Professor Arce's class requires two textbooks for you to read - get ready to read a lot and cite. She also takes a long time to grade quizzes. Overall, the course material was too heavy and overwhelming.

I would just look for another professor. She is not a good grader by any means and you will not know your grade until the very end of the semester. Self taught, provided poor lecture slides, rarely a study guide.

She is an awful grader, you are left to teach yourself & you won't know your actual grade until the end of the semester because she never grades anything until the semester is over.

She doesn't put in assignments or lecture material until a few days before it's due creates a lot of stress, never actually tells the class when there are online exams until the day of.

i can't even with this professor. she requires so much reading, writing, watching, testing, etc. lecture and reading heavy for sure. "optional zooms" are not optional, a coworker didn't attend one Zoom, was kicked from the class. has no consideration for you, had a medical emergency, turned the assignment in late, docked 30 points. DON'T TAKE HER.

She grades her papers way too late. By May she still has things from March to grade so you will finish the class waiting for papers months prior to being graded. This means you really have no idea how you are doing in the class because assignments will lack rubrics and you just hope you did well and wait months to see how you did. Avoid this class

If you hate yourself take her. If not don't. Literally take any other ethnic studies course to fulfill your requirements she's terrible. Assigns work the day its due, provides extra credit opportunities yet fails to grade them or submit them for credit, and is very textbook heavy.

This teacher is incredibly difficult to work with as she grades very late and has a ton of reading material which some of which you dont even need to learn and other things arnt even taught. Discussions are easy as they are literally just proving 1 point with facts from the textbook and quizzes are next to impossible.

She takes so long to grade. Inconsistent, assignments are not clear.

Very slow grader. Months can go by without grades on papers. Very hard to earn A grades due to grading that feels like you are in a doctoral program instead of a community college. Has lots of technical requirements for essays to be crammed into only three pages. Very bad experience all the way around. Do yourself a favor, and look elsewhere.

**DO NOT TAKE HER.** I have never had a problem with a professor before, but I have with her. She doesn't grade assignments for months, leaving you uncertain about your grade throughout the semester. Getting an A on anything is nearly impossible, and our Zoom calls often last for hours because she struggles to manage her time wisely.

This teacher does not grade anything for months, it is finals week and she hasn't graded anything since September, my discussion was 98 percent human yet she claimed it was completely AI, i think she grades randomly and doesn't actually read anything, DO NOT TAKE HER

For the first TWO MONTHS of lecture, about 1/3 of the class was taken up by roll and whether she was pronouncing everyone's name right. If someone walked in late, she stopped everything to make sure they were marked present. We only got through 4 chapters by Thanksgiving. So, to meet her quota, we did 3 chapters in 2 weeks right before the final.

For the first 2months of lecture, most of the class was taken up by roll.She'll lose your test paper and blame it on her having a busy schedule.She's a horrible grader she'll wait until the end of the semester to grade work.We did 3 chapters in a week to finish the course. You would think she would have a set curriculum but it's up in the air.

Very reading heavy and are crucial to the tests and papers. Also, the tests are timed, and you typically get a minute or less on each question. She will also accuse you of using AI. Additionally, her communication is very poor, and assignments are graded far after completion. Overall, I would not recommend taking her classes.

Please do not take any course with her. In the AA class we went majority of the semester not knowing our grades/feedback for our work. The test are timed and you do not have enough time to really read and comprehend as you get less than a minute per question. She would announce zoom meetings and not host them. 0/10 she should not be teaching

Her Black History classes, a joke, she's unorganized and late for class. Forgets where her lectures stopped and start. She requires us to purchase overpriced textbooks and materials that she submitted to the college for her classes to use. She gives lectures on unknown materials, and not from the required readings. Her classes are confusing.

If you make a small mistake on an assignment, she will not let you resubmit anything, give you a 0, and claim academic dishonesty. If you can, avoid her at all costs. She is a very harsh grader as well. As a high school student she is the worst teacher and professor I have ever had.

These reviews aren't lying. You won't know your grade until it's in the transcript. Also, the way she grades it is horrible and goes against her instructions. I don't know how she's a professor here. Do me a favor and just avoid this professor if you can.

I hate leaving a bad review but this semester was awful: Expensive textbook (read on your own too), 5min late to every class, 30min to start class, 5 slides gone over per class, so unorganized. Does not grade everything until the end. Tough grader. Frustrated with students easily. Lost exams, misplaced assignments, excuses, excuses. A DIY course.😭

I just wanted to say she is not the best teacher or mom in the world. I understand she is divorced but still she takes forever to grade and I have papers from September that haven't been graded. I wouldn't take her class again.

she's passive aggressive, doesn't show up on time, grades strictly although is completely disorganized, doesn't keep canvas current and acts like that's your fault. unpleasant class experience. i guess you could say she made an Arce out of herself.

I am a dual-enrolled student, meaning I am in high school and taking college classes for credits. She was my first professor, and I can say without a doubt, she is one of the worst professors there. Her assignments made no sense and she graded horribly. Her class genuinely sucked and I wouldn't wish it on anybody.

These reviews don't lie how the class is disorganized. quizzes/assignments aren't open/posted on time. biggest issue was honor lock, wasn't flexible at all; i didn't want to download and use. Screen recordings, except final exam she said she would require use of the webcam and ended up not enabling. All in all, this professor is allergic to emails
