She's an awesome English teacher! You'd never expect to have some one as caring, friendly and extremely understanding. If you do your work and pay attention you'll have a great time in that class. One thing though, be on time. Hope it helps........

There are journal assignments everyday, but the good thing is that they are simple. her class was easy at first, but it got pretty wild towards the end of the semester, we had a five page essay due on the reading novel and a few days later our ten page research paper was due. overall shes great

The best teacher by far at PCC. I waited 2 semesters for her to teach 1B beacause I loved her so much. The most helpful teacher I've encountered probably in all my years oh school. Very much Recommended!!!

I was never interested in ethnic literature before I took this class. The lectures, group work and films weere outstanding. This professor is full of energy and definitely "sweet on the eyes!" You'll learn alot from Banks. She's the bomb!

She has very high standards for Eng1A papers. Class is compose of a few essay papers and a research final. For midterm and final its a in class essay. Not a easy class. A especially if you're not strong in English. Helpful and very clear. Explains the prompt for the essay really well. Do your best and you can at least get a C.

You still need a well thought out paper. Writing is a big chuck of your grade. If you just follow the basic standard format for writing. Easy A. Take her class, its fun.

You really have to work very hard to get an A.You need to show her your effort and realy make improvemnt on your writing.You are required to wirte a free writing in almost every class meeting. You need to do the homework because she will pick on you and make you talk. She gives pop quizes to check if you do the homework.

Prof Banks is among the most compassionate teachers around. She cares a great deal about her students and it shows. However, she doesn't tolerate laziness and makes sure everyone participates in class discussions. Prof. Banks is the best teacher in PCC. It is by far the most easiest class to get an A in. In order to pass her class, you have to participate and pass her midterm which is very easy. After having a semester with her, I felt that I became a better writer.

This class was by far the most easiest to get an A very impossible to get an F unless you are stupid. To pass, all you have to do is participate!!! This class made me write better so I reccomend her to everyone.

ProfBanks was awesome. She's funny, interesting, and totally approachable. The books she assigns are interesting and her essay prompts are interesting. Definitely have to do the assigned readings because she quizzes you on what you were suppose to have read. Expects you to participate, if not she'll call on you. Don't be absent. I love her !

Long semester.....she is helpful just felt she didnt take a good approach and made class a bit exhausting but overall an alright teacher, very understanding with needing to leave class because of an emergency and tests are fairly simple, wouldn't re-take her class tho

I honestly am a lazy butt, and this teacher wasn't only easy but I learned A LOT. I'm a Math person and my English sucked until i entered her class. She has a great attitude, she gave fair homework, and her essay topics were easy. She was amazing. Period.

Banks is a really nice teacher, she's very helpful, and easy to understand. She has a really good viewpoint on things and always wants people to participate. She is a little disorganized though, in terms of assigning things too late. We also use the textbooks A LOT. Highly recommend her!

I had her the second time. In the first time was back fall 2004. Fall 2011 She is really easy as long you do HW and pass all quizzes. I am usually a math person. I used to be Engl sucker and good at math. Not when i enter class. I had to go to her office 25-30 times in fall 2011 semester to get help on the writing part of HW. She is very helpful.

I took her class for eng. 400. It was very very easy, got an A on every essays, and I'm not too good on essay. Just do your homework and study, you will pass. Also, shes very energentic and funny. (: btw, I never wanted to miss a single class, she's very entertaining(:

She was a pure joy when I had her for African-American Literature. She changed my entire outlook on literature and allowed me to now have a newfound interest in Toni Morrison. here was one reading quiz, and in-class essay, and two major papers. Overall one of my greatest experiences at PCC. She thinks I am a joy and I thank her for teaching me.

I Recommend for ESL students to take her class because she doesn't embarrass people who aren't doing well or being shy. Her class is very fun ,and it's hard to fail unless you ditch a lot. She is not a hard grader on essays. Just to beware that sometimes her quizzes might be a bit harder than what she have taught you.

LOVE HER, she is there to help, got an A on all the essays because I went to her office hours. She basically tells you what will be on the exam/final so you will be prepared, but you do need to read the assignments since there will be pop quizzes, overall her class is not hard as long as you go see her when you need help and read the book!

Easy teacher but not a great teacher who does not "teach" She just go over with textbooks and read out what it says. she is fun but go off topic many times. She did not even turn her cell phone off during class. Easy and fun, but not helpful to study.

One of the best English teachers at PCC. She is a great teacher. Very friendly, Funny and Helpful. This semester is going to be my 3rd time that I have her as my English teacher. she is always willing to help so don't be afraid to ask her questions and go visit her at her office hours and im 100% sure that you will get an A in her class.

Professor Banks is a good professor. I highly recommend ESL students to take her class. Even though it takes much time to discuss the book what she assigned to students, it is worthy. And she is kind and helpful. She is willing to help students to improve English.

Linnet essay graders. When there is an essay, go to her office hours. First half of the course, you will need to read a lot. Once all the reading materials are done, you will not need to read anymore. Overall, super nice professor. She is really passionate. About 4-5 essay throughout the semester.

One of the few teachers I've ever had that has made a major impact on me. English has been one of the worse subjects for me, but she has boosted my confidence in my writing and it has carried on to other classes & I'm not so worried when essays are assigned. She assigns a lot of work but she makes herself available to her current & former students.

Nevertheless, she's not tech savvy and refuses to use canvas, so don't expect to know your grade until the end of the semester. Isn't clear on grading criteria, so ask questions to clarify what she expects. Will make you talk, can't be shy in her class.

For her 1C class there's one in class TIMED essay, one 12 page research paper, one 3 page essay, and another essay (8 pages I think?). We read around 4 books in class and the journals are around 32 pages each (we turned in 2). Definitely a heavy workload, but she's always willing to help students. DOES NOT USE CANVAS, you wont know your grade....

Fantastic teacher, she teaches well and wants to make you prepared. This is not the class that you want to be procrastinating in. Lots of homework and long essays. Had 3 essays to do: 1 in class (10pg but for the blue book which equates to 5-6 typing), one 7 page paper, and last paper was a research paper which was 10 pages. Fun class! I recommend!

Prof. Banks is a really good teacher and if you give insightful responses in class, it sways the way she grades your things! There's a lot of work that you cannot procrastinate on but if you've taken AP Lang or AP Lit in high school, you'll breeze by

She is by no means an easy A. But she isn't really a hard A either. She just wants you to show her that you are putting in effort. She is more than willing to help you. If english is not your first language I would not recommend her because the writings are very dense. But frankly, she may just make you love English if you take her class.

We barley had 5 assignments during the 4 month period. Which makes it hard to get grade up if you even miss 1 assignment. Easy class

Prof. Banks was one of the sweetest professors I had ever encountered during my time at PCC. She taught well, gave me great tips, and had really fun lectures. If you work hard and truly write your heart out on your essays, she will recognize true hard work. I definitely recommend taking her class!

Professor Banks is amazing! I took her English 1A course in spring 2021 and forgot to give her a rating on here. Assignments were either short essay questions, mini-essays, or discussion posts. Proffesor Banks was a caring teacher, she interacts with her students. She will reply to your emails as soon as she can. You can skip 2 classes only, make sure to let her know beforehand why you are skipping. We did a lot of writing and a couple of essays. She is kind, but strict when she has to be. I hope I can take her class in spring 2024.

This is my first review on here and I had to do it for Professor Banks. She's very understanding of life outside of the classroom, but that doesn't mean to take advantage of it. If you show up to her classes and do the work, you'll do great. It's really doable for it being a 4-unit class, I did a lot more work in my prior 1A class.

Banks is an easy A as long as you turn in your work ON TIME. She will be calling on you randomly if not enough people participate. Banks doesn't let you know your grade until the end of the semester. I do wish she was a bit more organized. Banks does genuinely care abt you in class and outside!

Dr. Banks is pretty chill; she is very straightforward about what she expects. The only thing is that she can be a little hard on students who don't primarily speak English as their first language. Other than that, as long as you turn in your stuff and do the homework and are not continuously late, it's a great class.

I took ENGL C1000. Very good professor! Attendance and participation are very important, as long as you put in an effort you can easily pass with a good grade. There is quite a bit of reading, and you do have to write a lot. She does give enough time to complete it however and provides feedback if need be. I learned a lot, so I recommend.
