She is so much nicer now that she's had a baby. 333 is a great class to take w/her: once the simulation begins it's a really fun class. The first part of the semester is boring b/c of the text book but once that's over, it's great.

WOW! She is so amazing! She makes learning about Congress fun. The Senate simulation is the best part of the class...so inspiring! Dr. B is a great professor.....everyone should take legislative politics with her!

awesome prof. she is clear, she explains what she wants on the exam, and exactly what to expect in topics, set-up, etc. highly recommend her. Visit her during office hours and she will help you out. She cares about her students. Notices who's absent, so show up!

i don't know what everybody's talkin bout her expectin to much on tests, she tells you EXACTLY what she wants on her tests. GREAT prof. TAKE HER! visit her in office hours, show up to class, she notices if you're there. I TOTALLY LOVE DR. B!!!!

Michelle was an awesome professor, I had her for several classes, all of which were meaningful learning experiences.

Nice. Not a fan of students coming in late. Makes an outline for each chapter that's really easy to follow. Clear notes. Not the easiest grader on tests. 5 quizzes per semester. No extra credit. 2 unexcused absences. Very apparent that she LOVES politics and very knowledgable.

She is very liberal, and LOVES politics. Kinda hard grader, but really nice. Will work with you, especially if she sees you trying. Got an F on my first test, and a A- on the second cause I went and saw her. NOTE: YOU WILL HAVE TO [LOOSELY] MEMORIZE THE CONSTITUTION.

She;s very nice, very liberal, but gives fair respect to others (one girl passed around a ticket to President Clinton's impeachment trial and she allowed it), I would recommend her to others, great person and fair professor

Professor Barnello is a great professor and teaches very clearly but she is a horrible grader and extremely subjective. I worked extremely hard in her class especially considering it was a 101 level course. I was shocked when I found that my final grade was a C+. It felt like I was taking a 300 level course. I would not take her again.

There's some haters on this professor. She will definately make you work for an A but everything she does is fare. Read everything assigned, if not twice. Show her a couple of your journal entries, she can be real helpful in getting you in the right direction. I didn't get the liberal vibe as much as my peers... Very Nice lady

I am a freshamn and Dr. Barnello's GOVT 101 class was actually harder than my 200 level classes, but with that being said it was definitely worth all of the work. I learned so much and I recommend taking her. She is very nice and helpful! But be prepared to memorize the constitution

Dr. Barnello is extremely passionate about the material she teaches and encourages her students to use critical thinking when it comes to evaluating our government. Her outlines are very detailed, and as long as you pay attention and take notes you will do well on her exams. I would highly recommend her!

Dr. Barnello is the real deal. She is not only a gifted political scientist and teacher, she also shares her human side. She helped me dig into me and find what my own research interests were. Very proud to have studied with her; challenging but very fun. I have no idea why others members on RMP think she is so partisan. Didn't experience that.

Dr. Barnello is one of my favorite professors and is the reason why I want to take more government classes. I love how much she stresses the importance of the Constitution in her lectures. Her class made me reevaluate my beliefs and ideologies, but in a good way! I learned more than I ever thought I would for an intro class. Definitely worth taking

Barnello is a great lady, and a great professor. But, careful. She advertises this awesome class about Congress, then makes you do a simulation where you have to be Congress and write bills and debate them for a whole half of the semester, which you don't know about until it's too late. It's more work than my senior sem, and she grades hard.

Dr. Barnello was a great first semester teacher to have; she really knows her stuff, yet willingly teaches intro classes. She takes her classes and students seriously, and is respectful of all students' ideas and opinions. If you take the time to read the material and participate in class, you'll learn a lot and keep your interest.

Absolutely loved her!!! She made it very clear that she is available for questions. Were typically behind schedule. Made the class interesting and loved any and every question she received. Says textbook is mandatory, but I didn't use it. Multiple quizzes, lowest grade dropped, one AIDE paper, and a few exams. Great lib ed requirement filler.

This class was pretty straightforward. She encourages reading the chapters, but they do prepare you for the tests and quizzes. I didn't take any notes in her class I just read the chapters in the textbook and got A's. You can't miss too many classes though. Really likes to ask questions if they are there, and she has really good energy.

Prof Barnello is so sweet. Her lectures are straightforward and easy to follow and she talks slow. She makes a point to emphasize all of the important information on the tests and even though the syllabus says pop quizzes, she always tells you when one is coming up. She also throws out questions on quizzes and tests that a lot of people miss.

She is very understanding and helpful in and out of class. Contacting her is easy and she normally responds quickly.

Very kind lady, but the lectures are very boring unless you're a Political-sci major. She goes into a LOT of detail, but overall the class isn't hard or a lot of work.

The whole class revolves around her lectures, and taking tests/quizzes on them. Prof. Barnello is a decent lecturer and a super nice lady! However I found the class very boring. But not because she is a bad Prof. just because I didn't care about the content. But if you're into the government or politics at all, you would like this class.

She teaches lectures in a way that keeps people interested & involved, even when there's 90+ students. Only a few grades (tests count for 75%), but very manageable- take active notes in class, ask questions if needed & you'll be fine:)

She's super nice and it's an easy class.

As a indvidual she is great as a teacher I feel that She could have prepared us for the test more since they are 4 heavy chapters per test , She will say the quizzes are unannouced but she gives several hints before Attendance Is mandatory being that she makes you sign your name on. a piece of paper everyday. Just pay attention and study daily

This class was a little difficult, but worth it. Professor Barnello is so caring and makes sure that her students have all the resources needed to succeed. She pushes how important the readings are in class (the textbook is very helpful). Overall, she was great and I would definitely take her again if it was needed for my major!

Her class in POLS 101 was very interesting. She did a very good job teaching the material. The classes are all lectures, which you have to take a lot of notes during, but Dr. Barnello wants you to succeed. You can go to her office hours, and she will help you with what exactly to study. This class is test-heavy, but she prepares you well.

However he classes consists of quizzes and exams only and most of material is based off of the textbook so PLEASE READ THE BOOK bc if not you probably will fail the class. she has two other things but they are worth 2.5% of the class. attendance is mandatory with 3 unexcused absence's.

Great Professor but get ready to read, If you don't read the chapters, it's very hard to understand the tests because the lectures only cover surface level stuff yet the tests dive in a little deeper. Shes nice and explains things if you ask, but if you don't put in effort, she won't either.

i love professor barnello!!. I didn't try as hard as I should have early on effecting my grade. if you participate and study you will succeed in the class and find it interesting. if you put in the work and visit her office she gives great help.

This is an easy class but for it to be easy you have to attend. She does not post her slides online so if you want good notes to be prepared for quizzes and exams attending class would be best. Quizzes and exams are pretty easy especially because she tells you what they will be about and provides good study resources. Overall good professor.

I enjoyed Dr. Barnello's class! Her lectures were interesting and engaging. There wasn't really any homework other than reading the textbook which I found helpful, but you could pass without it. The exams she gave were fair and consisted of multiple choice questions based off her lectures. Great class if you're looking for something low stress.
