Mrs. Chester is a great teacher.. took a hybrid class (went to class 1 day a week, plus had to hand stuff in online 1 day a week) she was extremely helpful and answered emails extremely quickly.. easy grader, clear with assignments, fun class.

Very nice and Fun! she will really try to help you get a good grade. you have to write alot of little pieces (300-500 words) and 3 longer essays. kind of a tough grader on essays (especially grammar) but lets you revise. easy grading in little assignments. i would recommend her.

I took this class online. It takes a bit to get used to. Need to pay close attention to directions.Nothing too difficult. Never met face to face but she is a very nice lady and answers all your questions. A few small writing pieces a week and 4 larger writing assignments. Overall, easy class.

Not accepting of late work or late arrivals to class. however shes very fun and easy. her work load isn't too harsh. its just enough. she allows revisions and is pretty lenient. great teacher. i'd take her again.

since she was the only teacher that spoke perfect english during my first semester she was automatically my favorite. But she makes class interesting and you have conversations in class, she compromises due dates on some projects and is very helpful if you dont understand something. i only had one class a week so you probably should go to class.

It is a lot of writing through the whole semester with one group project in between...easy grader on hw assignments but tougher on main essays...she is a little weird but is definately worth taking.

I took her for business english and she is really easy. There are a lot of papers but they are really short. The longest one was 2 pages double spaced. There is a vocab./grammar quiz every week but its easy since its open note.

Took Applied Grammar in a 5 week online section over the summer. We had a test and homework assignment every week. Prof. Chester is a great professor, and while the material is very basic, you will better understand grammar after taking this course.

She is amazing!! I highly recommend her. She keeps class interesting and really cares about you. Having her at 10 am really doesn't bother me. She is incredibly nice! Few homework assignments, but she gives you a decent amount of time to get things done.

The most fun class that i have this semester! she keeps you awake and makes sure that everyone understands how to do assaignments. it is an easy class as long as you put in effort for the homework and the home work isnt too bad either. there are some extensive essays, but you alwys do a first draft and have t peer edited, so he wants you to do well

Professor Chester is, hands down, THE GREATEST english professor at TU. I dislike english classes, but I loved her class. She is the coolest, funniest, and nicest professor I've ever had and I'd definitely take her again and recommend her to anyone. She likes HipHop and gives out extra credit like its candy. I really liked her at first until she started handing papers back and let's just say she's very critical for English 102... And I thought my papers were great but obviously she disagreed. Not a lot of tests or homework. She takes attendance very seriously and you get extra credit if you don't miss a single class. She procrastinates A LOT

Professor Chester has remained in contact with me for over 2 years. That's the kind of person she is. I loved her class and the atmosphere that she created in the classroom and how she encouraged us to do better. A very good teacher, even with her online class. Her expectations are extremely clear and given at the beginning of the course and she sticks to them. A little slow to grade papers, but that's understandable. The textbook is necessary as the majority of the class is reading the essays and responding to them. She also gives extra credit.

If you need either an ENGL 102 or an ENGL 283, TAKE PROF. CHESTER. Her classes are fun and engaging, she has an amazing personality and she's really good at making you a better writer. All the papers are very simple concepts, she gives tons of extra credit and her final is open note. What more could you ask for?

Hands down the best professor I've had at Towson. She is beyond personable and while she could be considered a tough grader, if you put in a good effort then you'll be fine! If you need to take engl 102/283 TAKE CHESTER. She is hands down the best prof out there. She is the funniest, most caring, and down to earth lady you will meet. She gives extra credit like candy, extends EVERY assignment, and makes the classroom feel like a hangout spot. Don't expect to get any grades back until the last day of the semester though

She is such a goofy lady, def the prof to take for engl 102. There were like 5 short assignments based on actually interesting readings, and some other small, super easy assignments. no midterm, can use notes for final. But you have to show up to class, she makes it interesting so it's not hard to go to class.

I took this and 313 as an online summer course, 5 weeks for each, both with Chester. While I have never met her in person she seems very nice. She gives out boatloads of extra credit, so it is impossible to fail. Since they were five week courses the load was pretty intense but manageable. Super easy, take her if you can.

Chester is funny, and a pretty easy class. 6 Writing assignments, 2 essays, a group project, and an open-note final. However, during her lectures she gets off topic very easily.. I did not learn anything really. So if you are looking for an easy class to get an A or B in, then this is the one, but if you are looking to learn, I wouldn't take her.

Chester is the best, before you ever get to meet her she gives you the chance to earn extra credit. The final is open note and there are 6 writing assignment and a group project. She can at times be a little tough on grading but that's only because she wants you to do well in other writing course. If you have to take 102, TAKE CHESTER!!

Her grammar quizzes are detailed but allows you to have a notecard (WRITE EVERYTHING). About 6 writing assignments and an argument paper. Final is open note. I'd take her again.

Laid back professor whose class is really enjoyable. She really lets you be yourself and allows you to be as creative as you want in assignments. Prof C is the greatest professor that I have ever had. I had her at 10 am and although she gave us "mental health days" that we could use to miss class, I never wanted to miss it. We did have a lot of essays (they were fairly easy), the class was amazing. She gave us a lot of extra credit and even helped boost my grade. VERY caring! I recommend!

Finally a professor that makes paying high tuition fees worth it. I wish Towson employed more professors like her! All prompts for assignments are in the textbook, so definitely buy or rent a textbook. If you follow the examples in the textbook, you should get an easy A! No exams or quizzes for online class.

Chester is such a funny and chill teacher. As a person, she's amazing. A grader? Not so much. Had grammar quizzes every other week, should be common knowledge but really make sure you study. The group project is an easy A. Don't miss class and don't come late! Writing assignments were not bad, but you have to work for your grade. You'll love her.

Professor Chester is really sweet, and I enjoyed being in her class. I am not sure if this is because of the class moving to online, but she graded assignments last minute. I wanted to improve on my writing throughout the class, but she did not grade until the final exam day. I enjoyed her writing prompts though and would take her again.

Prof. Chester is a wonderful human, truly. Very kind soul, but can get off topic with ease and content gets pushed back unnecessarily which is slightly annoying. She also shares a lot of tmi stories, but its college, who cares. Open note quizzes, but they can be tricky. If youre a good writer, youll be ok. I managed.

Chester is a great professor- her classes are interesting, she is sweet, assigns you prompts that will make you think (in a good way), and I have never had a professor that leaves feedback as she does. For feedback, she leaves you detailed voice recordings which shows she cares. She does cancel class a lot but Chester is great.

really caring about her students and content that she is teaching. did a lot of group work while online, all the classes were synchronous. talked a LOT during class time and posted powerpoints to go along with her lectures. bought the textbook for class but was not needed in order to complete work, wouldve been fine without buying it.

I see some many bad reviews but she was actually so nice. She really cares about us and she wants us to do well. She scatter brained for sure, but overall gets the point across. If you just actually try, you will get good grades. I think people are used to very factual professors, when she is just very spiritual and deep, hence the iffy feedback.

AMAZING. so funny and kind. really takes into consideration students' mental health. lots of easy group work. gives fill in the blank PowerPoints for lectures. she wants u to discover ur mistakes on ur own so getting more in depth feedback is only possible by scheduling zoom office hours. not a lot of work but it can pile up fast. come to class!

Only downfall is the grading criteria is unclear. She doesn't use rubrics to grade the papers. Willing to work with you. Lots of group collaboration but nothing group is graded. Take her if possible

If there was a higher rating to be given than a 5, I would've put a higher one. Professor Chester is absolutely hilarious and this was such an easy course. Mondays and Wednesdays are in person, Fridays are asynchronous. There is a "Friday Forum" due every Friday which are very easy. One creative fiction, four poems, and one non fiction. Group work.

I love her. I took her class over a year ago and I still pop by her office to chat. She is really nice and understanding. Our final essay could be on whatever we wanted and she clearly cared about what we wrote about.

Despite failing, I really did enjoy her class. I was used to more in-person reminders about assignments so I missed some. That wasn't her fault obviously but remember to always be checking Blackboard and look for emails. She doesn't allow redos on any papers. She does allow make-ups on HW but only at the beginning of the semester. Wonderful person

Professor Barnett's lectures are debatably the best I have experienced so far. She is super knowledgeable and wears her passion for the subject on her sleeve. I strongly suggest staying after class frequently to ask questions because she will ALWAYS have an answer for you, not to mention she is a wonderful person and full of stories.

She's approachable and very easy to work with. Make sure to copy your notes word for word because quizzes ask for exact answers. Other than that there's a few writing assignments but they're not hard, just follow the instructions she gives you and you'll get an A.
