Michelle truly cares about her students and what kind of nurses they will be. She pulls you in with her real life experiences, honesty, and amazing personality! I really appreciate how she takes the time to connect with her students and makes you feel like she truly cares about you. She has the best style and is a hot little potato!!
"Critch" pre-records lectures with power points for all the reading. She assigns small on-point case studies to complete before class. This allows for deeper discussion in class and plenty of time to understand and apply the material to real life experiences. She uses her own experiences to set the stage for what not to do & how to improve oneself.
I really liked the environment that Michelle Critchfield creates for the students to learn. It was very relaxed and she fostered an environment that was conducive to asking questions and discussions. She is also extremely competent and you really feel like she knows what she is talking about. She curses like a sailor, take that however you want.
Critch is awesome! She is funny and not afraid to speak her mind. She truly wants you to learn and pass, and she cares about all of her students' careers.
Critch is one of the best professors I have ever had. I really feel that she has true passion for us young nursing students and it shows in her passion for teaching. I am sad that I only got to spend 5 short weeks with her and Dr. P! But I am grateful for the time that I was able to soak her knowledge of nursing from her! Shes so RAD!!
Michelle is an amazing instructor. She really wants you to understand the material. She tapes her lectures and strongly encourages you to listen to them before class. Class time is used to review case studies and any questions a student may have. Maternal/child nursing is filled with detailed information and clinical productive experiences/
Michelle makes you think why and makes you think about both sides - she wants to know what makes something "right" or "wrong" and challenges her students to think about what she is teaching from different perspectives.
Amazing Professor!!!
this class was great!
If our program used Michelle's teaching methods I would continue on and get my teaching degree.
So funny, Love your fashion. Learned allot.
Such a great experience! The best teacher, provided a fun learning environment! Best class I've ever taken!!!
I really enjoyed having Michelle as an instructor. She made class fun while giving us a lot of information.
Michelle is an amazing instructor, and she is a great student advocate! I really enjoyed being in her class. She is inspiring and really knows how to show students how to get in touch with their emotions.
This was the best course and instructors I have had during the RN program.
Great job!
Lecture is fun but totally different from previous semesters so made it a little harder to study for the test.
I thought she was very smart but focused on touchy feely issues more than content, which I appreciate but don't think I got as much reinforcement of content.
Amazing Professor! Makes lectures exciting and easy to follow. Really cares about her students and wants to help them succeed. Class is interactive and fun. Records her lectures online in case you miss something or need to review it. Tests over what is discussed in class. She made all of the material we were learning easy to understand.
CRITCH IS THE BEST!!!! She has been the only light in this dim, dark, horrid nursing program!
Critchfield ROCKS!!! Favorite teacher of the entire CSI experience. Best in the Nursing program. She makes class AWESOME.
Michelle is by far the most inspirational instructor I've ever had. She is so down-to-earth and realtable to life circumstances. I have so much respect for her because I know that she has the same for me. Her classes were always fun and educational; she always encouraged our input in class took her students seriously. She always made things fun!!
She does not lecture like a normal teacher however her type of "lecture" is still helpful and informative.
You can tell that Michelle puts thought into her course and really considers the best way her students learn. She is one of few professors that taught us in a different way that really helped us learn!
You are awesome!!!!!!! Likes to smile.
Best professor that I have ever had, wish all my professors could be amazing like she is. She is super funny, encourages you to be opinionated and explore other sources of information to learn instead of reading the stupid textbook
She is one of my favorite instructors I've had! In a notoriously difficult nursing program, she provides comic relief, inspiration and really seems to care for her students. She is ALWAYS accessible outside of class (I've texted her at all hours), and wants you to succeed! 100% Recommend!
Critch is the best. Not just average, goes above and beyond for students!
She is amazing! I wish I had the mentality she provided me with and the real world knowledge she gave insight to. The content is amazing and her way of teaching makes it stick! You will love her!
Critch is literally the light at the end of the tunnel in an otherwise dark and scary nursing program. She gives me hope that I can continue to be a positive soul and not become a jaded battle axe like many of the other veteran nurses.
Influential, intelligent, and inspiring! Critchfield is hands down the best professor I've ever had the pleasure to know and learn from!
Great listener, will provide you with the tools that you need to be successful in class, great feedback, willing to talk you through lessons if you aren't understanding. Amazing personality, great heart for students!
She made me want be be not just a good nurse but an amazing one! she made class fun, not just another boring lecture. I wish the program had more instructors like her. She made me want to learn more!!
This class is an easy A as long as you show up and do the work. Critchfield taught you not only about the maternal body and newborns but also about how to be a good nurse and just overall decent human being.
Michelle is an excellent teacher, her goal is for every student to be successful. She makes class interactive and enjoyable, and goes out of her way to have resources available for all style of learners.
Michelle was always willing to help all students be successful. Michelle assigns case study homework, however, this homework is to make you prepared for class discussion and testing, therefore, if you don't put the effort into learning, it will show when test time comes. I thoroughly enjoyed her class and the information was very important.
Great teacher always making you think differently
Critchfield is possibly one of the most inspiring teacher I have heard had. She great at making you think differently and think outside the boxes! She is a great human!
Michelle made me think differently in class. She is an inspiring professor and made me want to not only be a great nurse but be a better person.
Critch is one of the best nursing teachers out there. She is very knowledgeable, honest, caring, and understands individual needs. She makes you think outside the box which is a great skill to take with you in your nursing career. She reminds you that while this is a job we are all human both patients and staff.
Critch is one of the best teachers I've had. She is dedicated to her students' success. She is easily approachable and helpful with feedback if needed. This program needs her!
Michelle values her students learning, she uses hands on material and gets the students involved in their learning. Lectures are important and if you attend they will help you greatly, in addition to completing the case studies which are reviewed during the lecture. Highly suggest Michelle as an instructor.
Critch is one of the best professors and humans I have ever met. Not only does she care about you as a student, but she truly cares about you as a person as well. Critch inspires her students to not only be a better nurse, but how to be a better human. The attitude and knowledge she has towards nursing is exactly what CSI's nursing program needs!
Shes is awesome. Has great style. Very passionate about her job. Very caring. Helps the info stick in your brain during lecture. She does not lecture during class so be prepared before attending. Read youchapters and do lots of study questions. She has recorded lectures online. She also brought us doughnuts and coffee on our last day! Shes great
She made learning fun and wants her students to succeed. She is willing to do everything she can to help the students. She is a great teacher!
Dr. Critchfield is a very caring and wonderful instructor. She is one who takes the time to listen to students and changes teaching style according to student feedback. Class is non-traditional in that there is no formal lecture but more of a discussion over the assignments but lecture recordings are available for those who need traditional style.
This class was non like any other I have every taken. There was so much interaction between students and teacher, and it actually had me excited for class. It was also the first time in this nursing program that the teacher did not stand in front of us and lecture the whole time. She had activities and participation that made me attend class.
The first teacher to actually teach and not read from the powerpoint! She was passionate about it too.
Critch is one in a million. She solidified information in a way that no other teacher ever has for me. She makes each student feel like they are capable of anything and encourages us to be the best that we can be. I honestly believe she is the best thing that has ever happened to CSI's nursing program.
Dr. Critchfield was my all time favorite teacher out of all 5 years of attending this college. She is really good at teaching in a non lecture way. She is loving and caring for any student that walks into her class room. I will always remember to "think differently" and I'll keep her mentally in my front scrub pocket. :)
Learned to think differently.
This class was fun and had a very motivational approach. The instructor was great and had a clear way of communicating objectives. Learning was done differently as I felt more engaged in discussion and felt I learned a great deal. It was refreshing to attend a class and wonder where the time went. I really enjoyed course and instructor.
Dr. Critchfield is awesome! She is adaptable to class needs and easy going. Time well spent in class! Helped us think different everyday in class!
Dr. Critchfield has been the best professor in this nursing program hands down. Her teaching style has helped me understand the content better than traditional lectures. She truly cares and believes in each of her students. She also truly listens to and implements changes from her students feedback which I wish more professors did.
Class itself is easy, show up and turn in your evaluations. Make sure to study for test! Critch is a great teacher!
Michelle will change the way you see nursing and the way you see how important your new job is really going to be. She is insp
Open to having you seek help from her.
Awesome
This teacher is amazing.
Michelle is an incredible instructor, nurse, advocate for her student's, and human. She is a special one. You definitely will not be disappointed when taking her class. She puts your textbook readings into "real world" situations that help you retain the information so much better. If I could rate her 10/5, I would!
She is one of the best instructors in CSI.
She is the best instructor I ever had. I like the idea of not having to do Concept Maps during this rotation, because of that I had more time to study. As a result of that I got an A as a grade; my first A in the nursing program. Michelle Critchfield is always available and ready to help. She is an inspiration to me.
She is great point blank period. If you leave her class at the end of the semester not wanting to be a better nurse and overall person, you're wrong. Super inspirational, smart, and great teacher. Best i've had.
She is great at communication and conveying what she wants you to know. I have never had a professor so invested!! Your success is her success!!
Critch is the most energetic, inspiring, and passionate professor Ive ever known. She embraces her students, teaches them to think differently, and uses non traditional teaching styles to help content stick.
She is an inspiration!!!! I leave feeling like I wish I could be more like her
Critch is an amazing teacher who inspires her students to be the best humans possible. She is always available, even for life events.
Awesome Human
Amazing teacher who really cares about her students
Michelle was the best instructor I've had, but she's an even more awesome person!! She encourages us to stand up for our beliefs and what's right and not be afraid to think differently. This class has given me a standard to hold myself and my nursing care to! So thankful for everything I was able to learn through this class!
Critch is the most inspirational and invested professor Ive ever had. She puts her all into supporting her students.
Critch is literally the BEST professor I have ever had. She is an incredible instructor who truly cares about the success of her students. Her content is tough, but she is able to adequately deliver the information in order for her students to retain that information and do well on exams. She is also an incredible human with the biggest heart!
There was a lot of homework, but it didn't feel like busy work. She's smart in what she assigns for homework and everything you need to know for the tests are in the case studies. She cares about student's success and wants to help as much as she can. She's the best instructor I've had and teaches in a way that helps students retain information.
Was very inconsistent with teaching material and had complaints all semester long without addressing or helping resolve issues. 40% of our class failed from this professor. Her tests were poorly written, never gave points back even when more than half the class would miss a question, and failed to Properly manage our class.
Doesn't teach, just goes over the homework. Gives handouts to students she wants to see pass that is her friends but will watch other students work hard and fail. Spent the whole semester teaching myself. Doesn't explain her exams. Put "dirty hoe" as an answer to test questions & isn't professional. Crys in class and all she does is tell stories.
Inconsistent with how she grades students projects. Doesn't post assignments for us to access in a timely manner. Does not respond to emails or questions in a timely manner, and if she does, it usually doesnt answer or address your questions.
Doesn't teach to her exams and I don't learn anything new in her lectures. Spends most of the class telling stories that do not help us learn and seem like Ted Talks. Class is honestly a waste of my time. Grades projects not by the rubric. Anal about us "working ahead" so she doesn't open assignments in a timely manner and doesn't respond to emails
Changes assignments on the student's last minute. Does this to students on test weeks, giving us extra busywork to do that doesn't help us learn. Doesn't consider the work students are putting in, or clinical/precepting hours. Does not take suggestions or requests from any students.
The worst "lecturer" I have ever taken. Get ready to teach yourself because she doesn't teach at all. Expectations are not clear and will blind side you about your collab points.
She lacks professionalism, not a good role model.
Lecture is a waste of time, takes forever to grade the mountain of homework
Doesn't educate and help students become good nurses. Homework and concept map heaven when those don't improve us as nurses, wastes our time.
Wastes class time telling stories that are only somewhat relevant but don't really help us learn the material. Treats students unequally and lets her favorite students get away with things, but holds others to different standards.
Slow to grade assignments. Just finished taking her final with outstanding assignments and some of the class is sitting in limbo not knowing of they are going to pass because large projects have not yet been graded. But there is always time for her to play golf! Students come last.
Stupid hard for no reason and doesn't teach to what is tested on. Unprofessional in the way she talks, acts, and dresses. Would rather put acid in my eyes for eye drops than come to class and see what she wears.
Too busy making complaints about students, not showing effective time management. She shows how she is golfing often but doesn't have assignments grade even after the final. Complains to staff she needs help grading while she golfs. Thinks shes amazing, doesn't take feedback.
Likes to intimidate students, thinks she is super important, and acts like this is a bachelors program. Apparently having a doctorate in nursing research makes you better than everyone else.
Tells stories instead of lecturing on pertinent content. Inappropriate
Strives to help us understand and apply rather than surface learn and rightfully so since we are in a registered nursing program. Perhaps its the quality of your prior education that resulted in your unprepairdness. Unprofessional other faculty are spreading lies. What she does off campus is not anyones business.
