She's very nice, perfect teaching skills and have lots of knowledge.
nice person, but course is very unclear and she tends to move too quickly through the topics. She seems to assume that math is a breeze for everybody, even when teaching a course that is just so students can get their credit.

The course is fast paced for those of us who are not pro-math, but as a prof, she's great. The lectures are a little LOUD at times...but clear with good examples. She's very helpful and approachable. If math isn't your cup of tea, I'd recommend her over the other first-year math profs.
Great lady. Great sense of humour. Tends to breeze through the material but it's understandable given the time constraints. Made math as bearable as it could be for an english student.
Oh my god get out of this class ASAP. I thought applied finite was supposed to be easy, she made it hard!! Wasted alot of time talking about anything. I would stay away from her if I had the choice to take her class or not!

I find her fantastic. She moves through the material quickly, which is nice. If you have trouble just go and talk to her, shes eager to help, plus there are labs. She's pretty loud, so try and schedule your class with her first thing. She gets you going for the rest of the day.
Knows what she is doing and makes math somewhat interesting. Covers everything on exam well. skims over things you should know before taking this course (basic graphing, y=mx+b etc)very helpful.
Ugh. She made herself seem really stupid and unable to do math which added to her effect of teaching. She would explain everything as if you already knew it all, making it even harder to keep up with the info
Annoying most of the time. Wouldn't take her class again. She go's through material too fast. Seems as though she has self-esteem issues and likes to make fun of some students to make herself feel better!
Great prof!! makes things very clear. If you have problems she is available throughout the day. Goes through the material quickly but makes it very clear. Pay attention and you wont have trouble.
This prof was awful. Presented notes at an inhumane speed which was very difficult (sometimes impossible) to recopy clearly into notes. Makes plenty of arithmetic errors. Whiny piercing voice that slays your very soul. I would avoid at all costs.
She's not bad, but she is very fast-paced and very unlikable when she's teaching. And she makes a lot of errors. However, if you have a question you need to ask her during office hours, she is very kind and will go over anything you need assistance with.

I don't like her voice. It's kind of shrilly. Other than that I have nothing against her. I just think that the course is stupid to begin with and I'm a Fine Arts student. (I had her for Math in Art, by the way)
Not a bad professor. I might not have done so well if I had her for a different class. She did not teach it so well, but she did a good enough job I suppose.
Excellent professor. Teaches at a very fast speed so a quick review of the material before class is helpful. Typically better to ask questions during office hours than in class. During class she only has time to quickly answer, during office hours she will take the time to ensure that you understand. Best and easiest math course available.
She goes through the material way too fast. And she makes exams that even she would fail cause she messes up sooo much...she assumes we already know everything when she teaches..Would never take her again!!
Math 1020: Great prof. She made handouts that summarized the course content and made it easier to learn the lecture. Exam appears similarly how it was taught in class. Reading the textbook in advance is recommended, but not required.
Dr. Davidson is a decent professor, but she lacks confidence in herself. She makes a lot of arithmetic errors, so it's hard to trust what she's teaching sometimes. Her exams are difficult at times, but fair. That being said, Dr. Davidson is very knowledgeable and will try her best to help you.
Friendly and helpful. Make the effort, ask for help and she won't refuse. Easy-as-hell course. You would have to go out of your way to fail it. Read text book, teach your self; you'd be much better off. Besides majority of the mark is from the art portion.
Easiest and most enjoyable math course I have taken. Dr. Davidson was really enthusiastic about teaching the course, I also think she taught the course really well. Exams are predictable and follow exactly from sample exams. I would take the course all over again if I had the chance. Really easy A+

She was a really great prof. You can get some very questionable math professors, and she is one of the best. She may go a bit quickly but she is very fair. Highly recommend
Can't believe she uses chalkboard in a super big class. you barely see anything if you don't sit in very front. I got an A+ in calculus2, but I had so many difficulties in this class with her instruction.
She was always in a good mood and super enthusiastic. Hated the class material but loved her as a prof. She is really nice and is very helpful especially if you go see her outside of class. She makes the class not boring
An enthusiastic lecturer, Dr. Davidson's classes held my attention for a subject that did not otherwise interest me (this is a required course for my Fine Arts degree). She provided very kind help during office hours. Although her lectures reflected and followed the textbook, the textbook itself did not improve my understanding of the subject.

Dr. Davidson is hilarious! Connects well with students. She goes a bit too fast when lecturing sometimes and notes are done on the chalk board, so sit close to the front. The course material was very hard. I got a 45% on the midterm, but ended up with a B by going to see her in her office hours. Tutorials suck; they are not worth your time.
I would highly recommend this class with her!! She is energetic, she carefully explains each type of problem that you may see on her exams, and actually makes doing these problems fun! This class is an easy A if you put in the effort and pay attention in class.
I really love her! She is a bit fast through material because this class is super easy and she expects you to get the stuff, but she speaks very clearly and explains why and how it happens that way in a problem. Textbook: DID NOT EVEN OPEN! On the day for review she gives examples from previous exams. Very nice prof! Recommended!
No need for a textbook, her explanations were super good, although a little too quick, and chalk can be difficult to read. Her energy was great and she was easy to listen to.

Very enthuisastic prof, really loves math. Doesn't post notes online so attending class is a must. Her quizzes are easier than the exams. Willing to help outside of class. Goes a bit fast but plans her lectures so you can have review classes prior to the exam.
Decent prof. Classes are fast paced and doesn't give time to take down notes, just expects you to get it from the textbook.
She's a good professor. Very energetic in the morning and is passionate about the course. I would take it again with this professor if there was nothing else to choose from just so I can try to boost up my mark the second time around.
Eh. The final exam was so hard this year. Unbelievable. Much harder then previous exams. I honestly failed it and the only thing that saved my butt was the art projects. She is there to help you though, which is nice. She is also energetic in the morning, bit I did sleep in her class a bit.
Great Prof. Very clear lectures, but she does not posts the notes online. Must attend math lectures to pass. She is very energetic and happy in the morning. You do not need to buy the textbook. It is not very useful.
She has great energy with a voice that is loud and clear, no problems if you sit at back. Lectures are through as she teaches and then rehashes with variations of examples, slightly fast-paced (you must keep up). Questions are encouraged and easily to talk to after class. HW can be difficult as it may require a further in-depth thinking to solve.
LOVE HER. I didn't need the textbook only because i printed off every slide and wrote down EVERYTHING. That is the only way to get a good mark in this class. Very fast paced but content is not that challenging. She met with me twice during office hours and was helpful and very nice. The art section is what you need to worry about in this class.

Not a good professor at all. She goes way to fast during lectures, and it's next to impossible to take notes. She also has a way of making the most simple concepts seem way harder than they should be. Essentially had to teach myself the course because her lectures were so hard to follow.

No idea how she is a professor. She can't do simple calculations & goes way too fast during lectures. It is absolutely crucial you attend the lecture because otherwise you will be confused. The midterm was easy but the final was hard. Overall, be worried about the art portion of the course and be sure to learn the constructions on your own time too
She always moans, groans, and grunts in class. If you take a class with her, get ready for an hour of her whining and complaining. It's so hard to focus on her lectures when she rushes through everything like its a chore. While her voice is energetic, her teaching is far from it, and all you'll get is a migraine from listening to her go on andon
Class content is very easy but the more you follow in class the less you'll have to study to understand. Talks VERY loudly and clearly, you can hear her from the back of the class. It's pretty annoying when she uses the word "minus" as a sub for the word "negative" but it's only for a unit. I took this class with the Track A and B and it was awesom
Absolutely terrible, she has trouble doing the examples that are part of the notes. She explains concepts extremely poorly and talks down at students that don't understand what she meant. Avoid at all costs
Very excited about math, occasionally gets a little too excited and explains the example wrong or messes up calculations. Overall, she cared and wanted us to do well. This year we had 5 tests every two weeks instead of a midterm, which wasn't that bad. If you take a Michelle P course, you will have to put in extra work outside of class to survive.
An overall good choice for this course. Her pace is very fast at times but she'll slow down in you ask her to. Tests more throughout the term so that you have more chances to bolster your grade, but be ready to study for a new test every two weeks or so. Test/exam questions are similar to those done in class so you won't be surprised or blindsided.
Calculus is no fun at all but she has a passion for math, it's adorable. Sometimes she can go a little too fast but she tries her best to slow down when you ask her to. She posted the slides of what questions she was going to go through in class so you can prepare yourself. She gives a lot of examples which are helpful.
Good god. Super unorganized, I had two tests marked incorrectly, the textbook she recommended was awful. Basically an absolute gong show. She is approachable and pretty nice. Messes up a lot of examples in class and goes through the material at breakneck speed. All I say is good luck and nyaw bucky.

Michelle is friendly and always willing to help her students. MATH 1240 however is a very tough course. I feel she over emphasized some of the easier concepts, and it resulted in much of the course feeling quite rushed and with insufficient explanations, in the parts that are much more difficult. Other sections of the course were taught better.
Terrible prof, didn't think professors mattered until I had her. Easy class but hard with her. Went to another prof's lectures and it was a breeze. Dr. Davidson's explanations and notes were extremely unorganized and difficult to follow. She also always expressed how impatient she was with the class

Do not take this class with this professor if you can help it. Her lectures are unbelievably hard to follow, and she never answers emails. She assumes all of her students are math savy, which is not the case for most of those taking the class. Just not a good class/prof, avoid it at all costs. I wish I had never taken this class, killed my GPA.
WORST PROFESSOR EVER. Such a nice person but seriously has terrible notes, goes wayyy too fast in class to the point where no one can keep up and messes up her own notes while lecturing. Would have been such an easy class if she was a good teacher. Do not take this class if she is your professor you will be doing a lot of self teaching.
I wish the school would find better profs to teach this course... Like others have said, MATH 1020 would be so easy if it were explained clearly, but it isn't. The class average on our midterm was a fail. Dr. Davidson is very cheerful, but doesn't seem to actually care about us understanding the material. It really shouldn't be this hard!

This course is supposedly for people who don't have a strong background in math, yet I felt she assumed that the students had much more background knowledge than they actually did. She made things seem much harder than they actually are, and does an incredibly poor job at explaining concepts. I ended up VW'ing
Davidson goes through her memorized slides at breakneck speed. The only thing faster than the pace of her class is the speed at which she talks/lectures. This class is fast moving and you won't have time to grasp the concept before moving onto the next. I wouldn't reccomend if you don't already have a strong mathematics background
Math 1240 is just such a hard course but she did as best a job as she could teaching it. Definitely need to put in a lot of work on your own time if you want to be successful in the course, but made lectures entertaining with humour. She was also super accommodating when it came to missing tests.
Shes very nice and bubbly however she lectured SO FAST. Could not keep up in her class. The text book was horrible at explaining things, basically her notes will only help you if you can understand them. Her tests are difficult, she will teach the simpler concepts but include the hardest concept on the test. Be ready to teach yourself.
If I never hear her voice again, itll be too soon. Math1240 is not easy but were supposed to be LEARNING. She loves math. However, the videos she uploaded were barely scratching the surface of the topic. During class, she would answer exercise questions and provide NO FURTHER EXPLANATION. I learned nothing because she did not TEACH.
This is a tough prof, make sure to attend the lectures/labs to get all the course material.
She is probably the worst prof I have ever had. Refuses to help when asking questions, no answer key for studying, yelled at our class for asking to go over the midterm. Please do not waste your money on having a class with her, wait and take any course with a different prof.
if anyone wants to take class with her, let me warn you. You need to do everything by yourself. She won't help you at all. TA's for this section will give you most of it but don't expect much from this instructor. I would never recommend anyone to take class with her
100% the worst prof I've ever studied under, whether or not you attend lectures or read every page in the required text, nothing is consistent and she is lazy. Her teaching skills are non-existent, and so is her willingness to aid students towards success. She seems incredibly nice, but niceties do not make up for having to teach yourself.
She has time to talk things not related to lectures with students but has no time to answer student's questions. I'm kind of wondering whether she's racism since my questions were intentionally ignored.
If I could give a rating zero I would. Nothing that she teaches in class pertains to anything she puts on the tests and quizzes. I don't even actually know if I learned anything from her. I am basically teaching myself.
Have to carefully listen to her because its confusing sometimes. A lot of proofs which are not tested. The things tested are not given much importance in the class, so got to focus on the textbook questions. TA's are very inconsistent, usually mark a paper after 2 months. Got the final grade 2 weeks after the due date for the results.
She loves math. I believe she was trying to make things better and she did listen to students. But it's hard to make everything perfect. respect
If you dare take math 1240 with this disgrace of a prof be ready to learn discrete mathematics off youtube. Worst teaching style ive ever seen she rips through questions as if wed already know this stuff. She doesnt cover stuff in pre class videos the in live lecture she just does it with no explanation. Btw something about her gets me VERY mad
I took her class and she was the worst I ever had. She skims through everything as if we already know the materials. Nothing to learn from her class, she made me want to hate Math 1240. If you see anyone doing good in her class it's probably because they are putting their souls into studying on their own.
She is very kind, but it's a shame that this course claims to be for the many students who will be taking it for their required math credit, because professor Davidson teaches as if you already know the subject and is extremely difficult to learn from. I just wanted to succeed in this class but felt totally hopeless

Worst prof at the UofM
Just awful this professor can't convey materials properly and is extremely rude. She ignores emails everyday and she can't organize the class at all.
This is a tough class but professor Davidson is a solid prof. She goes over many examples during class and posted pre-lecture videos to introduce the material before each lecture. I was told this was the worst class ever. It gets really hard half way through, but do lots and lots of practice problems and an A/A+ is possible.
I know Michelle has plenty of 1 star reviews, however keep in mind she teaches one of the toughest math classes around. I will admit it was crazy hard, but she was passionate about the material and was relatively helpful. I'm giving her a 4 because her jokes are some of the lamest I've ever heard.
Did not give midterm or exam reviews , just old ones that seemed to have nothing to really do with the tests. lots of material that seemed to not be on the practice pages and old reviews. videos weren't much help either
Have to go to class to get most information, but taught clearly and was good at answering questions and providing extra practice and resources.

dr davidson's pre-class videos did a great idea introducing the subject, but then when you went to the lectures, she rushed through everything as though you know the subject. there were so many different units i found it difficult to keep up with the work. if math isn't your strong suit, i'd advise you to stay away from this course.
Dr. Davidson is super energetic and engaging in her lectures. She provides lots of materials to review out of class including videos that are very helpful and easy to follow.
This course had difficult material if geometry is not your strong suit. The prof was ok but the expectations were a bit much for an intro math course. Art assignments are fair just tedious and the exams are marked more difficult than ever experienced. Final exam was not like lectures whatsoever.

i'd say shes a sweet lady, but she does not know how to teach. the lectures are fast paced, so keeping up with her is almost impossible. you'll be teaching yourself the course basically.

At times she will add humor into her examples but this just makes it slightly more confusing. She is okay tho, you will survive
One of the worst. Does not know what she is doing. does not go through the concept well in class. does not have her own work. does not supply anything. neither practice question or tutorial. mostly depended on the GOAT(Trim) tutorial and test. not even she knows where the question would come from. DONOT TAKE HER PLEASE!!!!!!!!

You pretty much have to teach yourself the entire course. She rushes lots of material and difficult to communicate with in person and overall do not recommend.
Did not like this professor. The day of the first exam, I was having a medical emergency where I needed to go to the hospital asap, she told me if I go to the hospital I will fail my exam, zero sympathy. I wrote the test in tears because of kidney stones! I failed the exam horribly regardless. Worst professor ever!
Would never take this class again with her. She rushed through her lectures, was hard to contact and was a tough grader. I taught myself all of the material and she posted her notes AFTER the test happened. The tests were also harder than her notes AND the horrible practice questions she gave. If you need to take this course, I don't recommend her
Horrible prof and terrible person as well, had smart remarks in class when not understanding and had an attitude over email. Prepare to teach yourself all the material and have material to use and help yourself with. Awful class, and did not make my university experience fun or enjoyable. Stay clear of Michelle!!!!
Honestly good luck if you have a class with her… you're gonna have to teach yourself the entire course. Her slides and pre class videos never made any sense and she was not helpful at all. She made concepts sound more difficult than they actually are. My tutor basically taught me everything because she was horrible at it. Definitely don't recommend
