very very boring lecturer, too dry. hard tests. unclear assignment directions

Boring, not clear, impossible tests. Don't take it.
kind, organized, clear lectures, outlines every chapter, just study notes, fair teacher
Clear instructions for exams. Dr Dean is a hottie!!!!
Dean is a pretty good teacher, but the content of the class is pretty boring. Pretty straight forward tests from power point, outlines and book. She is clear and nice and very fair with grading.
She is so nice and really shows enthusiasm for teaching! Study the slides and come to class for the 5 quizzes and you have a B minimum! I didnt love the subject but she made it fun. cute also!
CUTE PROFESSOR. SUBJECT IS PRETTY BORING BUT OVERALL ITS A COOL CLASS. STUDY OFF THE POWERPOINTS AND ATTEND CLASS. YOU'LL DO WELL!!
The class is kinda boring but shes a little hottie so it works out
Dr. Dean is a sweetheart! She truly cares about her students...her lectures are clear and tests are straightforward.
It's a shame the subject is so boring. If you have to take this class, I'm sorry. Take Dr. Dean, she is really cool.
she doesnt care if you learn or not. Very boring teacher teaches from slides. Will not learn anything if you take her.
dr. dean is extremely cute, like a pixie. her tests are not easy, so definitely study. her class may not be an easy B, but you can probably scrape out a C if you at least show up. oh yeah, show up she gives you participation points which help a lot!
Dr. Dean is enthusiastic, creative, and you can tell she cares about the material and about making sure everyone is up to speed, which makes her unique. She gives you exactly what you need to study, so if you get less than a B you're lazy.
Boring lectures, but Dr. Dean's enthusiasm for subject comes thru. tests are relatively easy as long as you study. no papers. 3 tests, 40 MC with 4 essays. mostly from PPT. only 1 or 2 questions on test from book. She's a cutie.
She's like a little pixie. Knows her stuff. Tests aren't the easiest, but she will throw out questions that too many students miss. Doesn't take attendance. Uses blackboard and you can download lecture slides. Know slides, but will throw in a question or 2 from the book.
She is one of the nicest professors on campus. She is from the South, so when she gets lecturing on a subject that she likes, the y'alls start coming out of her mouth. It is funny. I got a B with little effort. Could have gotten an A if I had applied myself a little more. I recommend taking her.
Fantastic professor. Extremely intested in her students. Will go to any length to assist. Fare. Tests are no joke. Blackboard slides available. MC test. One/Two papers. Need the book. No an easy B class. Study = Effort = A
Least all-around effort class. 3 exams, no papers, uses ppt and blk brd. Be there for every class for participation...really helps or hurts final grade. I did flash cards of study guides and went to class...I got an A.
Boring class! But relativley easy. Download PPT Slides. Dont miss too many classes or you will miss out on participation ponts/assignments.
Don't buy book. Download powerpoint slides and be there for each class session so you can understand the slides. 99% of her exam is based on her lecture. I enjoyed this class very much, very useful information to know as business majors. Very organized teacher, definitely recommend. Got a B.
Cool class. Easy tests and in class assignments only. Very helpful prof.
Informed and happy teacher, don't buy book, didn't even open mine for tests, download powerpoint lectures. Straight forward class, relatively easy if you study for tests. Would advise taking this teacher.
She's very helpful and informative... Kinda cute, too ;-) Good teacher to have. Not too hard, not too easy.
Cute! Seriously, she's very nice, clear, straightforward, fun to listen to. She gives good examples and has interesting stories. Its refreshing to take a class that has three tests, quizes, and group activities without all the worthless timewasting fluff other business profs seem to love. Great teacher, TAKE HER!
GREAT teacher! This is a class where you actually learn something, and shes very clear in what she expects. Go to class and write good notes and you will be fine! Very nice teacher!
Take her over Danns. She is passionate about HR and knows what she is talking about. 3 m.c./short answer tests and participation points. As long as you print out the power points and take notes you don't need the book.
Professor Dean is one of the more accomodating and flexible professors at SDSU.Optional final and in class time to work on group projects are highlights.I learned valuable info about HR that I can use in the workplace every day.Tests are pretty hard but overall a very good class.
I took this class based on people's reviews of her... but her voice bugged me.. she talked too much... the notes were already on blackboard.. the only reason to go to the class is cause she gives 6 assignments randomly throughout the semester... drops the lowest.. 2 midterms and 1 final. I got a B in the class.. but i still hated every second of it
i am falling asleep just writing this review!!! can you say BORING!!! Don't buy the book, if you absolutely think you need it get a cheap old copy on amazon... I am glad it's over cause it was painfull!!
Very nice lady. Most of her lectures are a bit boring, but the class is pretty easy. Just three tests (final not cumulative!) and five 10 point in-class assignments. She gives them randomly so you have to go to class. Tests are pretty easy, don't need to study a lot because it's common sense. Overall good teacher!
she is super nice. 3 tests all from the powerpoint slides. take good notes in the class because what she says will be on the test. 5 in class activity 10 point each, and they are super easy. she is a very nice, and sincere lady. highly recommend her class.
Easy A. Don't need the book, just her power points. class can be very boring though- she pretty much reads the slides and it kinda drags on but maybe it's cuz the topics are boring. Tests are straightforward, participation is usually the 1st 1/2 of class. If you study, you'll be fine!
great professor, if u go to her she will give u great advice on how to study for her exams. there are 3 exams, and easy hw assignments that are done in class. test are somewhat hard, multiple with 4 short answer.
took her once a week, well worth it rather than taking a twice a week class. always lets u out early. Lots of ppt to study off of.. but tests are fairly easy, mc with short answer. Highly recommend!!
Dean is extremely helpful. She understands that HR can be dry and boring so she tries really hard to apply it to college lives. She is super flexible and works with students. 5 in class assignments for participation/attendance points, 98% of exams are from lecture, a few questions right from the text. She is funny and down to earth. Great instructo
Good professor. Makes topic interesting and relevant. Easygoing style but don't mistake that for her not expecting students to work hard. Tests were somewhat challenging but final is optional if you're happy with your grade. Memorize her slides and you'll do OK. 2 group papers were more work than they appeared to be but not hard.
Subject itself is boring but she's pretty good at keeping everyone's attention. 3 exams, a few in class assignments for attendance and participation. Exams have M/C and essay questions. Lots of material to study for exams but she gives study guide, however it might as well just say "study everything." Overall it's an easy class w/ a good instructor
Dr. Dean is very nice, highly interested in Human Resources material (I find interesting - learn about Human Resources, then use against later). Class is standard lecture format (bring laptop to follow or play on net). 5 in-class assignments, 1 Midterm, 1 Final (Optional if happy with grade). Overall, a very nice prof., good class. Hot professor!
BORINGGGGGG. I am falling asleep just writing this review. In class, you either (1) fall asleep or (2) contemplate suicide. tests are fairly hard, but she does curve. Just score higher than the average, and you'll be fine. DO NOT BUY BOOK! guess on those 4 questions and save your $150. Final is mandatory! don't listen to the review below me!!!
Very nice lady. She's very straight forward. She will curve tests depending on performance but take good notes, study all the slides, skim the text, and there's no reason you can't get an A.
Nice lady, but boring class. It's one of those classes where you show up and do work for other classes while the professor reads a powerpoint to you. Most test Q's are from lecture, about 4-5 are from the book, so don't buy it! Just guess. Doesn't take attendance, but does 5 random participation activities. Tests are kind of hard, but she curves
Easy class! Print out ch. slides before class. Pay attention to what she says during lectures because she leaves some slides blank for people to fill in. 3 test and 50 point participation activities that you do in class. To get an A is simple..just study the lecture notes. Getting an A is possible if you put the time in to study. Don't buy the book
Professor Dean is so sweet but her class is really hard! It?s one of those lecture classes that you sit in and she reads from the powerpoint. She gives out a study guide but it?s not very helpful because she wants you to study basically everything. 2 exams and a final, she does 5 in class assignments worth 10 points each (saved my grade).
So easy yet so boring. Never went to class. Did the in class activities and left. Got almost a 95 in the class. Fill out the study guide and memorize it. About 7 pgs filled out and if you can't do that by now, college may not be for you. Felt slightly guilty about leaving but come on, time is money. Don't need the book. Know the PP's.
She's super nice. As far as the class goes, I never even opened the notes until 5 hours before each test and still managed a B... that's probably from going to class everyday though. She tests you on everything on the slides, so if you're not good at memorizing details you're in big trouble.
Very easy class. All you need to do is study the lecture slides, and make sure to fill in any of the questions (will appear on tests, so you need to go to class). Do not buy the book. I studied for a few hours before the tests and got an A in the class. A few in class activities which are basically free points. Definitely take her if you can.
She is a nice lady, and very clear.. but a little spastic. Sometimes I feel anxiety leaving her class because she stresses me out... but that class isn't bad.. I got an A. Just memorize EVERY slide.. do NOT read the book!
Tests are 75% lecture, 25% book unless said otherwise. 5 activities for attendance/participation(2 are random). Very good at making some of the more boring stuff interesting. Encourages discussion and very knowledgeable with real world examples. I'd recommend her for sure for any HR class.
Prof Dean is great! She is super helpful and manages to make the subject a little interesting. She pretty much teaches from her slides but she throws in a few questions from the text book on the tests. 3 mult choice tests aren't easy but she doesn't assign any homework.
HARD CLASS!!! Two big assignments, one big paper & one paper/computer work. Both with groups. You kinda get to choose your group... Three exams, all three are hard. You dont need the book (thank goodness) just study the slides Good luck.
Pretty easy course. Should be getting an A or A- depending on how I did on the final. She does curve her tests if needed (first exam had a 15 point curve, second had a 2 point curve). Hoping that she curves the final. Do well on the first test and you'll secure a good grade. Two tests, a final, and easy participation points. That's it. Reasonable.
Prof Dean is very helpful and makes her class very enjoyable. She is passionate and very knowledgeable on the subject. Highly recommend her for MGT352 and MGT461. Do not use the book, only study the slides and you'll do great! Every MGT prof should be like her!
All in all this is a good class. Professor Dean is highly knowledgeable about HR and lectures are fairly interesting. The tests are a mixture of MC and short answer. Study the slides and briefly browse definitions in book and you'll do just fine.
She is a great prof who has a lot of resources for her students. She takes the time to make sure we're aware of events to help us in our future careers. The tests are easy and there is no homework. Her lectures are concise and clear. Can't ask for anything more!
Take!!! Class can be boring at times but need to go for random participation activities. Don't buy book, take good notes in class and study powerpoint for test.
Boring lectures. Expects you to know all the power points basically. Random unannounced group activities.
She goes into detail about everything. It was way too much to learn in one semester. Take another professor. No cheat sheet allowed.
This class was super tough. If you can avoid it, skip it.
She's a very knowledgeable professor in her area of study and very well respected. Very into her SHRM but this isn't a bad thing as plenty of great connections and guest speakers. Only 3 tests and that's including your final (based on lectures¬es from class)! If you attend the class, you'll know what the exam is going to be like!
Prof Dean is very knowledgeable in the subject of HR, although lectures can be boring if you pay attention and take notes you don't really need to read the book to get A's on the exams (I only read the book didn't pay attention in class since it gets quite boring, but I got a good grade). Must do some memorization for exam.
PRINT POWERPOINTS. GO TO CLASS. PAY ATTENTION. Loved this class. She made a 7pm interesting. 5 (sometimes random) in-class exercises that are part of the grade. NO HOMEWORK. She provides powerpoints & study guide. Definitely go over both for the exams (MC & short answer). Can seem like a lot of material, but she makes it easy to understand. STUDY!
ABSOLUTE best professor I have taken here at SDSU. If you want a professor that actually cares about you, take Dr. Dean. Tests aren't too difficult, and she curves. She gives you an outline, so just make a study guide out of that. Listen in class and you will be fine!
Great professor! Dr. Dean makes class easy. Power points available and all test questions come from her slides. Has unannounced in-class activities throughout semester, so dont skip her lectures. Highly recommend.
Professor Dean is a really good one, however her classes can get really boring as she mostly just reads the powerpoints. 5 random EASY group activities worth 50 points and 3 tests worth 100 each. I put minimum effort and missed half the classes and barely passed with C. You will have to memorize every powerpoint if you want an A, or get a C like me
I heard great things about Professor Dean and decided to take her class, she gets boring as everything is read verbatim off of her slides. She has in-class activities throughout the semester, and notes in class which chapters and specific topics will be on the exam.
Professor Dean is a kind, caring professor. However, in my opinion her class isn't very interesting or easy. The majority of class time is spent listening to her read off her lectures (which are posted online) and the tests are based solely on the lectures. I wish the class had been more interesting, but you can pass by memorizing her lectures.
Dr. Dean is the sweetest professor you will ever have. She truly cares about her students. If you show up to class, listen to her power points, and read the textbook you will get an A on the exams. A few in class assignments but they are SO easy! If you are an HR major, or thinking about HR, Dean is your best option!!!
To get an A, just read her slides, its exactly like the test, no tricks or weird questions, super simple. There is also a few in class assignments worth 50/350 points total for entire grade, again, super easy. Just study a little bit, you don't need to show up to class most of time! She is also a good resource for beyond the class
Dean is a peppy, nice woman. She means well and cares for her students, sometimes comes off as boring during lecture because there is a lot of course content to cover. Definitely not the worst option to take. Go to class, read and you'll pass. Rarely had homework, grade was heavily based on like 1-3 tests and the final.
Cool dude as long as you are honest with him
If you take 15 units and find that hard don't take her, since her online lectures are long (several videos 40- 55 min for each chapter)and exams are concept based, so not possible to study last min. She seems like a nice person but I wish she had a project and or something like that and more actual zoom classes instead of only pre recorded.
dr. dean is a queen. take her, shes better than other profs. hw is very easy. However, do yourself a favor and give yourself a few days (at a minimum) to study for the 3 tests. her tests are only easy if you watch her lectures and fill out her very generous study guide
Professor Dean is super nice and her class was so easy. Your grade is based on 6 assignments (graded just on completion, and your lowest score is dropped) and 3 exams. I recommend not buying the textbook bc she only tests you on what she covers in her PPT slides. We only met on Zoom 3 times; all other lectures were pre-recorded. Take her!
I love her!!! she is so nice and sends reminders and emails to let you know what is going on that week which really helped me. her lectures are recorded and longggg. the test are all free response so be ready to write. the assignments are easy and theres only 6 and she drops the lowest score. shes the best take her!
Best professor I have taken at SDSU hands down. There was 3 exams (no final) & 5 easy assignments. Though the lectures were long, they had all the info necessary for the exams. So just take detailed notes and you're all set. There is also no need to buy/read the textbook since her lectures are taken directly from the reading. Take her!
Honestly, one of the best professors I have had at SDSU, the class is not very demanding but you still need to put effort into the 3 exams which are going to make most of your grade. Make sure to fill out the study guide and go to her lectures, as everything that's on her lectures is on the exam. The exam is 40 MC questions and 4 free response.
Many say this class was 'too hard' but I honestly feel it was challenging yet fair. Attendance is not taken but GO TO LECTURE. It is very information dense but I got an A on all 3 tests (there's no final!) without reading the book. Just go to class, stay engaged, and study. Prof is kind & helpful via email and office hrs.
I loved this class and Professor Dean! She is engaging, sweet, and has clear expectations. Three tests that are long but doable. No textbook, everything tested is what she goes over in class. Take decent notes. The material is not hard and is actually pretty useful for going into the job market. Definitely would take again!
Professor Dean is one of the friendliest teachers that I have had so far. The most negative point about her class is that she only reads off her Powerpoint slides during the lectures which make the class pretty boring. You have to read and memorize a lot of information and apply them on her tests.
I loved this class, but it definitely requires some work (not an easy A you can just sail thru). Dr. Dean is very friendly and accessible outside class via email and office hours. I aced every test because I went to class and took notes (she also gives test hints). Attendance is not mandatory but I HIGHLY advise it. I found the tests pretty fair.
I almost considered adding an HR specialization because of her. Easily one of the most caring, straight-forward, and passionate Professors Ive had at SDSU. Exams are straight from her review sheets.
She is the sweetest lady and lets you know everything you need to know for exams but I was DYING of boredom. Probably just my senioritis.
Lives up to her hype. Exams are based heavily on lectures, so i recommend going to class for an easy A. Dean is amazing, she really cares and is great at explaining concepts. I can see how people say her lectures are boring, but everything she talks about in class is directly on the tests, so pay attention
She is a very sweet and understanding lady, but kinda boring lectures. Test q's are directly from the study guide. You must work for your grade but tests are curved near 12 points each time. Must go to class for participation and for the lecture commentary. Graded by 3 tests and 6 participation. No homework. I suggest study groups.
Professor Dean was a very average teacher for me. She is a very nice and caring person but her classes are extremely boring if you have no interest in HR. Attendance isnt mandatory except she has in class activities at random 4 times in the whole semester and they are worth 10 points each. I thought her exams were extremely difficult, but curved.
As an HR major, Dean has become an inspiration to me and she is truly amazing to work with as she is quick to respond to emails and she is very clear in her lectures. She knows her stuff and communicates her knowledge in a way that is easy to understand. Medium difficulty for her exams, just focus on the study guides she gives and the lecture.
I took her class last year or the year before that. Professor Dean is worth taking her class. She provides 1 midterm, 1 final exam. Please overview her PP Slides. Her exams are not too bad. I have a learning disability and I was able to study and study and pray. Worth taking her class. Be sure to ask questions during her sessions.
great teacher who honestly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Ended up rounding each exam by 10% +. Study lecture slides and show up for random attendance and you will do great.
She is a great professor! She uses a lot of examples in class that appear on tests. There are random in class activities but the lowest one gets dropped. As long as you put in effort you will do well, the tests are pretty easy. Curves the class.
