Mrs. D is a really nice teacher. She grades tough but lets you rewrite for a much better grade. My writing improved so much. If you want to be a better writer, than this is the prof. you need to take.

She is very willing to help, and has a sense of humor. English is my weakest subject and I was able to achieve an A in the class easily.

Well, EVERYDAY we go she make us discuss (what we read or what we think about some topic) and she make us be in groups. But she is really nice, and she is clear with her lecture. Is TOO much work... but is English, so in every English class they would do the same... We did not have any quiz or test. Easy if you read the books! Can't miss class!!

Took for for EDUC 1300, it was a very easy class, and she was a good professor. Her lectures are very long, sometimes so long I want to go to sleep, but she gets through the material as efficiently as she can. Attendance and being on time is BIG for her, and NO texting in class. Treats you as if you were in high school, but hey, worth it for an A+.

I took 1301 with her and I had a great time. She grades a bit hard, but if you go to the lectures and keep up with the papers, you'll do fine.

Professor DeWalt is such a helpful, and lenient instructor. She truly wants her students to be successful in her course. She is strict on deadlines, but a very lenient grader. Her class is so much fun and she motivates class discussions which only make the learning environment more interesting. I would definitely take this class again.

I still have my final due but as of right now I'm doing great and English and writing papers has never been my strong side. She makes it easy and makes understanding the material very clear. Miss. DeWalt was an amazing teacher she assisted me so much and did not hesitate to help. She is a bit strict on attendance and tartness so show up on time. We did a good amount of group work so be comfortable with the people around you. Buy thew textbook she refers to it a lot. She improved my writing significantly:)

This is my second rating for Professor DeWalt. I just finished an online 1302 English course with another Professor and really missed her teaching. She was an amazing teacher. Please do yourself a favor and take her!! She is the best. I got an A+ in her class during a mini-mester, while working a full-time job, and taking another mini-mester class.

One of the most helpful teachers i have ever had. She explains material perfectly, she is fair on homework and very understandable. She is super sweet! If you listen and do your work you will pass, she is GREAT!

Amazing professor! Lectures are very informative and fairly easy to understand. If you show up everyday to class then you will receive extra points to your final grade. If you need help revising a paper all you need to do is ask and will receive helpful feedback. Already signed up for 1301 with the same professor.

She assigns an essay which takes you about 3 weeks each essay but the reason she does that is because she wants your essays to get the grade they deserve. Not only is she there for you but you can tell she cares. But show up and turn in your work. She will not take late work even if its 15 minutes into the class and she does take attendance.

She is very understanding with any concerns that come up as long as you show effort in the class. She gives opportunities to make up some bad grades.

Prof. DeWalt is a great teacher. She grades hard, but she gives you a chance to rewrite for a better grade and will work with you as you rewrite it. Homework and attendance is important in her class.

For a first time student this would be a good class, as an older student this seems a little redundant and a waste of time. Although she was a good teacher she was disorganized. That being said it was an easy class.

Professor DeWalt is such an amazing professor! Her lectures are always fun and entertaining. When it comes to homework, the main thing you do is read essays from The Blair Reader then write an essay which she guides us through. She gives you feedback and second chances to rewrite a paper. I just finished her online minimester. There Is a lot of work, a lot more than any other minimester Ive taken. So dont take her if you procrastinate or want an easy A. But she is there every step of the way. She wants to help you and wants you to understand. I feel much more confident in my writing abilities in just three weeks.

Worst teacher

Textbook was not required. Be prepared to work but great lessons and videos over the material. Lots of writing as a summer mini mester but still possible to do well. Read the material and pay attention to all feedback and you will pass. Definitely recommend Professor DeWalt

Took her for an 8 week min-mester. I spent hours everyday doing her assinment. I actally really love english and writing papers but she is so tough, she literally sent every assignment back with a 10 minute video over every minor detail wrong and then you have double to work because it has to be redone ontop of the new weeks assignment.

I took this class over the summer and received an easy A. Professor DeWalt assigns class discussions 2-5 times a week, and most of them are pretty simple. Yes she gives you busy work, but it is not hard to complete if you are actually reading the notes and powerpoints she gives you. Anyone who says this class is hard is just plain lazy.

I took the 8 weeks course and its was a lot of work as I expected but thats an understatement for her course. The work piles up so quickly and she doesnt give you enough time to complete them all. If your only taking this class by itself then youll be fine other than that dont take her class RUN!

I took minimester (Dec 2017 -Jan 2018) with Professor DeWalt. She really put her heart into teaching us. She has vast experience in corporate America which she implies to inspires her students to develop skills needed to be successful in practical life. She wants all her student to do well in her class. I have always hated English, and I still am not a fan, but Prof. Dewalt made English interesting and even fun with lots of group discussions and videos. She makes you write but helps you every step of the way. She also keeps food and coffee in her office for students. She really cares about her students.

Just finished this class during the summer while working full time. It was online which is tough because I have a hard time understanding stuff on my own. Ask questions. She is great about answering your questions and helping you as much as you need. She also gives a lot of rewrite opportunities which is awesome.

I took a 6-week summer, ENG 1301, class with Prof. DeWalt. She gives good feedback and is available. Her online class was well organized. She grades tough for 4 papers, but allowed re-writes for 2. Participation is a must. It was a lot of work, but I can honestly say I learned a lot, expanded my writing, thought process, and technical awareness.

Great professor! Very helpful and answers her email within 24hrs. I took a summer session and we had 4 major papers due plus a few quizzes on comma splicing, etc... Follow her instructions and you will do great in her class! Highly recommend! Daughter took her class too and same result.

Great teacher, esp as an online teacher! She organized the online modules nicely, answered emails quickly, and was there for support. Lots of papers to write, and grades on content and not your level of grammar. Fair teacher and very inspiring. I actually learned quite a lot from her. Prof. DeWalt worked so hard to help all of us finish the semester online due to the Covid-19 virus. She answered emails all times of the day and night. She accepted all the work late because she understood that some of us didn't have easy access to technology. She cared not only about our learning but about us.

I took ENGL 1301 with Prof. DeWalt and I have to say she is one of the BEST english teachers I have had. She takes the time to work with you if you need help. She is a very tough grader but will always take the time to explain your mistakes. I enjoyed her class so much that I have decided to take ENGL 1302 with her next semester. A winner!

Be ready to write, write and think, she makes the class fun. Also, she is very patient and lenient with certain assignments. However, in the essays be prepared to be organized, she grades a little hard, which is expected you are in college! She will offer make-up assignments, overall she is sweet and caring.

I'm taking her summer class and it has been great. She is very helpful. Most of the class stays after class to complete their homework and she stays to answer questions and help. Yesterday she stayed for four hours and even bought us pizza. It was so helpful to have this help while you do the work. I've learned so much already.

This was the first time I enjoyed English. There was a lot of homework, but it was interesting as we got to investigate the "pretend" murder of the professor and an actual cold case. We also did research on serial killers. Prof. DeWalt was so nice and was always willing to answer questions and help us. She really cares about her students.

Not very good for online class as she does prioritze it less than anything, and isn't self paced. She is hard to reach and not really good with resources and communication and her grading feels bias a lot. I wouldn't reccommend AT ALL, and I love english and writing. Especially if you're taking it online, save the trouble.

She has a very intuitive learning style that keeps you engaged. She was straight forward in instructions. We were hybrid / 8week class, She was able to keep us focus on our writing objective and used creative topics. Lectures and video were great for conversation and feedback participation. She was absolutely terrible at communicating. Me and my classmates hated the format of the class and she was never clear on what she wanted. Choose a different prof if you want to do well!

Most of the work graded was an easy 100. If you did the work, you got a 100. She grades the papers hard but she lets you rewrite them and will help you with them. She gives a weekly checklist which makes completing the work easy. I don't know how she could have made the layout of the online class any better, it was so easy.

Professor DeWalt is by far the best teacher I have had. I felt like I actually learned for once in my life. She is very clear with her expectations and gives great feedback on assignments. She also responds quickly, even on the weekends!

She does not provide well feedback onto your work and is not good at responding to emails when you ask for help (over the feedback as well). It causes the class to be extra stressful when doing the essays because the grading criteria isn't always clear.

I feel like she took down the review I wrote about her not answering emails during online classes, which makes it difficult for you to get proper feedback and to reach out with questions. Her grading criteria was never clear and her feedback never followed through with what she wanted. She was nice but the organization was troubling.

She is very caring, which is very nice but me and my friend struggled way more than we should have in this class when we took it. There was no direct feedback and clear communication in what she was looking for and I know a lot of other people struggled with this as well

We worked on a cold case and solved a murder mystery and wrote a research paper. There were three papers and the first two we could rewrite for a better grade. She met with us to go over the papers so we knew what to fix.

Put in the work, and communicate with her.. An easy A. She has high expectations and is a tough grader but if you put the effort in, you'll easily pass.

Mixed emotions with Professor DeWalt. She was not approachable at first, but ended up being helpful. If you're serious about doing the work and taking the time to listen, then she will help you be successful.
