She was truly great! She makes the class passable and will go to all lengths to make sure you understand the material and can pass! Made class fun and lighthearted. Show up to class, do your homework (always on mymathlab-text book is unnecessary) and you'll pass. This class focuses on logic and concepts. Not for you if your'e looking for algebra.

I took her class Summer Term A, although it was a quick 6 week course, she covered all the important parts and was very clear during discussions. I will be taking her again for my Precalc class, that's how awesome she is. Get ready for homeworks, but that's where you really get to learn hands-on. You are a college student, do not be lazy and learn!

Absolutely worth taking !! I took her for fall 2015 and as a student who Is not very fond of math she made it easy to understand and works with you day and night !! quizzes are online about 5 questions, and the test are partially take home so its a guaranteed boost for your test grade. Best teacher ever I will take her class 10 more times. She is super helpful and shows you how to do it and easy ways. She tells you what you are going to need to know for the test and what your going to need to know for the next math class. Only downside is the textbook costs like $120 but comes with mymathlab which is basically all you need.

Mrs. K is a great teacher, she makes it easy to understand math and is great at explaining and teaching. I am always ready for quizzes and tests because they consist of everything we learned in class. She makes sure we understand the content and the class is very organized. The homework is great practice and preparation. 10/10 recommend

I have to work like a dog usually to get through math courses to pass. I feel that this teacher and Valencia as a whole are doing more to help people have the resources to pass, if students can find or make the time. Professor Karkkainen is really a very good teacher and will do what she can to help you, if you show you care.

I am currently taking for intermediate and I have signed up to take her in the summer. Very clear when explaining material, does not rush, and will answer any question. She has made math easier for me and I currently have an 85 with two more month in the class to go. take her!

She is a good teacher. I would take her again because she is very helpful and will go over any questions you have. There is usually 3-4 homework assignments but she gives you a full week to finish them. There is a lot of extra credit for this class and she allows you to do test correction.

Took the professor during the Term A Summer 2017 for MAC-1105. College Algebra has never been easier and faster! She very clear about the lecture, make sure that every students' questions will be answered. Since I took it for half-term the course is longer but at the same time, it was very helpful, especially days before the exams. There is extra credit for every test, so make sure you study the classwork sheets! Final is comprehensive but it's very easy. Highly recommend for those who just want an easy A on this course!

Professor Karkkainen is hands down the best professor I've had at Valenica, maybe ever. I took her for trig back in 2016. She made the material easy and I learned SO much, that I'm still using in my science classes. I understood the material so much I even tutored my cousin who took trig at UCF. Also, she gives EC if you don't miss class. AMAZING!

She's a great teacher- incredibly smart. She cares about her students genuinely and if you seek her help on anything she is always happy to help. She can seem to get annoyed with the class if too many questions are asked on one subject which wastes time so if you need any in depth help go to her office hours. Overall solid professor.

Extra credit is provided for after every test for test corrections. Extra credit is given with perfect attendance, the present goes down with every absence. She makes math so easy to understand. I'm taking her for as many classes as I can.

Took Mrs. K for calculus 1, by far the best math teacher in east campus. Shes caring, and RESPECTFUL. Office hours are a must for your success in this class. 4 tests, 1 dropped if final is highest. Quizzes every week (Not difficult). Would definitely take her again!

Mrs.K is one of the best teachers I've taken for math I took her for Calc 1. Her lectures are very engaging and fun. Mrs. K helps out tremendously in her office hours and respects every single one of her students. Her Review Study Guides are very helpful for each Test and she provides students with all the resources needed to pass her classes.

Really does care about her students! Spends countless hours outside of class helping students before tests. Homework is recommended and never graded. One question quizzes once a week-ish as an attendance grade, some can get dropped. 4 tests and final make up almost your whole grade. Study guides for every test. Take Her! As easy as Calc can be.

Okay this needs to be stated! Within her syllabus it states that you will have 1-4 tests ( we had 5, one counted as half a test to boost our grades) they are worth 60% of your overall grade! The final being 20% perfect & the only things left are attendance which is 5% of your grade and then homework being 15%. I ended the class with an 87% sadly.

I had professor Karkkainen for college algebra and calculus 1, she is one of the best math teachers I ever had. She is always available in her office hours to help you with any questions you have. She is the best math professor at Valencia, so consider yourself lucky if you have the opportunity to take her as your professor.

Mrs. Karkkainen is a wonderful teacher! She is such a sweet woman and she knows her stuff. She cares about all of us and gives us study guides. She will answer questions and has a sense of humor. Her southern accent is so cute too! She will meet with you outside of class one-on-one if you need help with anything and explains it really well!!

she is very sweet and very good at teaching, the grade you get is up to you as long as you do the mymathlab homework every friday and do the reviews for the exams.

Mrs. K was an amazing professor for Calc I. She goes over everything in class and is super helpful with getting you to understand the material. If you don't understand something, ask and she'll help you out. There are only 4 tests and 10 quizzes that she assigns. HW is not mandatory but if you want to pass with an A, do the homework and study hard.

She was a great teacher with a fun personality but for me, I felt like the questions on the test were different than the homework questions. For the homework, it was all online which got really annoying at times. Overall, she was a good teacher and I would take her class again.

Super kind and approachable. Her lectures go rather quick due to the amount of material plus time constraints, but she always encourages her students to speak with her after class or during office hours. You should be able to pass as long as you put in the effort and as somebody who doesn't love math, I enjoyed her class.

TAKE THIS TEACHER. She is quite simply the best math teacher I have ever had. She teaches so clearly and well (video lectures she pre recorded), and communicates with her student exactly what she wants. Weekly lectures, hw and 1 quiz due every week, 3 tests and a final. Tests are about 15-17 q;s long. I dislike math, but I loved her class.

Pretty standard math class. She does a great job of preparing you for the exams with homework and participation videos. Quizzes every week, but they're not hard. Lots of work but as long as you get it done you can easily pass.

This is one of the math teachers Ive ever had, shes super caring and she loves to have meetings to help you on anything you need help, The only bad thing is that there is about three homework pages, four videos and make notes (as attendance)and a quiz/test per week, overall she is really great!

One of the best math professors I've ever had! She normally only teaches in-person courses, but due to covid this was her first time fully teaching online. Her lectures were posted as youtube videos, and she has us print out the notes to fill out as she did examples. You felt as if you were in the classroom, which was perfect!

Mrs. K is just the sweetest little thing. You can tell she seems to love math and truly cares about her students so much... was very attentive with the many questions I had throughout the course. She changes your lowest exam score if your final is higher which was a nice surprise, and has lectures online which really helped me a lot. The SWEETEST.

By far the best math professor at Valencia. I took her for 3 classes, Trig, Pre Calc, and Calc 1. Got an A in all of them. Took her online and in person. She gives a lot of partial credit if you show your work. Very caring and genuine professor. Her classes are not hard. Just understand the material and you will get an easy A. Highly recommend.

Wow this class was amazing, I learned so much from Prof K for Calc. She has weekly video worksheets to teach material, hwk, and a quiz/exam. The tests are difficult, but everything was open note open textbook. She also does zoom meetings for review problems. She wants you to succeed/pass and she loves teaching. Take her and you'll be in good hands.

Great math prof that had easy to understand lecture videos. There was lots of homework but she provides worksheets to print and they help a lot with note-taking. The tests were lengthy but if you did the worksheets and skimmed the reviews you should be fine. Final exam was difficult for me to finish in time but it's easy to maintain a high grade.

Probably the best Calculus professors in FLORIDA. Wow! If you have to take Calculus, she is absolutely amazing. She is caring, gives good feedback, she is understanding and more importantly she is a great teacher. She makes Calculus look easy. A 3-hour class with her feels like 45 minutes. If you have the opportunity to take her don't hesitate.

Amazing professor. You can see how passionate she is about teaching and how much she wants you to succeed in the class. With that being said, calculus isnt an easy class, and you will have to put in the work if you want a good grade. Exams are 75% of your grade, and yes, they are HARD. If you want an easy A, this is not the professor for you.

Best online math teacher ever. I thought calculus is supposed to be hard but her video made Cal1 and Cal2 went by like breeze. 4 written unit test that is based on homework and worksheet examples, 1-5 question quiz every end of the chapter which is also based on worksheet examples and 2-3 hw each chapter on webassign. I wish she can teach Cal3.

Michelle is my favorite professor throughout my entire schooling. At university now but wanted to come back and leave a review she's worthy of. I took her for 3 math courses and in all was she amazing. She is a very caring and intelligent professor and would choose her always. She's funny, encouraging and really cares for her students. Easy class. Homework is given once a week (you still get 100s if you don't do every problem). Lectures are easy to follow and understand. The final test will replace your lowest test score (4 tests, 1 final).

AMAZING professor!! She's super sweet! I took trig and precalc back to back with her, and I WISH I could take her for calc. Her lectures are great, she gives worksheets in almost every class, and the final exam can replace a test grade as long as you get a 70+. Ask her questions, and you will be fine; she explains complex topics well!

Professor K is such an incredible Professor. She truly cares for every single student and wants to see them succeed. She will sit with you until you get it and gives great feedback. Math is my hardest subject but she makes it fun and exciting. She gives such cool mom energy.

If you don't choose her, you are insane. She is the most genuine, warmhearted, and mellow human being. She is not only your professor, but she is basically another mother or grandma to you. 3 tests + final, normal math class. Teacher is absolutely incredible. Very lovely and willing to help. She's great at explaining things in an easy to understand way and honestly made calculus feel a lot easier than I was expecting. Class was still very hard because of the subject. Studying on your own is necessary even with a longer class period.

Mrs K. is perfect, this professor teaches old school style so, no Desmos and no crazy tech, all you need is to take notes,DO ALL OF THE HOMEWORK and you should pass with NO TROUBLE. Attendance is REQUIRED, she makes students interact in class. NO HONORLOCK,NO LOCKDOWN BROWSER. 3 exams and 1 final, not hard. Textbook required(just buy online access)

If you show up to class, attend the reviews, do the homework, and review in your own time using the provided material, you can succeed in this class. Mrs K is a fantastic teacher, very approachable, kind and dedicated to her students. She also has a lot of online material you can refer to. Loved her, taking her again for calc 1 and 2.

I dont rate professors but Professor Karkkainen is an amazing professor. As a veteran who was out of school for almost decade and struggling in math, she was and is always there to assist. I never waited more than a day to receive a return email from her. Her lectures are great and she touches on past topics, I would take her in a hearbeat again!

Amazing professor! She is very sweet, and just wants to help everyone learn Calculus. I was transient from UCF, as I feared taking Calc there as our program is horrendous. It was definitely worth it, and trust me, if you try to learn in this class, you will come out ready for any future math classes.

Mrs. K was a great choice for my calc class! The make up of our class grade was 13% online quizzes, 12% homework, 60% tests (theres 3; the last one is take-home) and 15% of the final exam. Calc is hard but she does her best to make sure everyone understands at all times, and shes very understanding of all situations! couldnt reccomend her more

Wow, just wow! Sweetest professor out of all the classes I've taken at Valencia. While you'll be graded on worksheet completion, you're not really mandated to attend any of the Zoom calls, but her lectures are to the point and homework provides plenty of practice. If you don't take calculus with her, you're probably making a mistake.

There are no words to express how incredible Mrs. Karkkainen is. A few things, she does require zoom attendance in an RTV class, she is very accessible through your inbox (will answer in 10 min. every time), and she gives extra credit for attendance sporadically. Trust me when I tell you, TAKE HER CLASSS. She's amazing. Oh, and VERY understanding.

The textbook used for this course is free. You can retake the midterm if you didn't like your grade. Even though the course was online, the videos she provides for notes are made herself and taught in a way you can understand. If you still need help she has zoom meetings. She also provides helpful study guides for the midterm and final.

She's not computer savy but she's really sweet and if you need help on learning something, she will take time to teach you. You'll get 2-3 HW's and 4 tests. The test can be a take at home test, but some will be on zoom. The tests are going to be on paper. There's also mult. chances to get extra credit. Also she's easy to contact. Overall easy.

I really enjoyed her class, she trigonometry feel natural for me. Of course you will need to study but if you look at the study guides you will be fine! She will even let you have some notes during test. She is very respectful and will answer any questions you have.

General Note: Do NOT take calc 2 online. Even in passing this class, I didn't learn anything. Curved us like crazy. I know for a fact I scored in truth about 13/100 on the final, but it came to a 78 in the end. Most recent material will always be the main content on any given test, even the final. Final was solely on series, taught one week prior.

I have never in my life been excited to go to sleep and wake up the next morning to be graced with the presence of a professor in my life. Prof K brought the light back into my eyes and is the reason I take every breath in the morning. I took her for trig and calc, and I am so sad I can't take her for calc 2. She brought back my will to live.
