This was a great class. You had to work hard, but she made it really fun, and she is a great teacher.
she is a great teacher and will try whatever she can to help you out if you have any questions or concerns, her tests are kinda tough so study!i would recommend taking a class from her,she keeps the class fun, oh and she also looks kinda like cameron diaz.
She is an AWESOME teacher! She does everything she can to accomodate you and if you need any help with absolutely anything she will help you! This was a fun class and very easy considering it is a 4 unit lab GE needed class. Definitely take it if you want to aviod taking physics or chemistry and even if you don't, take it anyway, She is GREAT!!!!!!
She is one of a kind teacher, she will do whatever it takes to help you, her test are hard, but not to demanding very fun and out going kind of girl
Her dedication sets her apart from the rest.
Wow! it was a good class, not too easy, but a good class
wow!! an awesome teacher!! couldnt ask for better. not only dose she help students in here classes but she also works with those that are not even enrolled in any of her classes!! AWESOME!!
Michelle is an awesome teacher she is one of the best teachers in the ag department if anyone needs help in figuring out what you need to complete in you ag major she is very helpful in the area too. I think Michelle is better in that area then the council
I love Michelle!! Shes a great instructor, and I would reccomend her to anyone. Everything you need to know, shes goes over in lecture, and if theres anything you are unclear about, shes takes the extra time to MAKE SURE you know before the exams. She truly cares about the academic success of her pupils. <3
More teachers need to be like Michelle!
Great... she is as good of an instructor as Johnnie Terry. I would reccomend her to others. She cares about students and helps them learn.
Energetic, passionate and knowledgable. She treats students with respect and as her equal. She is open to new ideas and doesn't get defensive when students have different views. Really a good teacher...one of the best I have had. Nice to look at too.
She's a very nice teacher, easy and clear about what to expect. Very little HW and easy quizes. Go to class, take notes, review your notes before quizes & exams and you'll get a great grade.
Michelle is passionate, knowledgeable and involved in her field. She has lots of practical experiene and is will to share it. She is thorogh and relevant in her topic choice. Study class notes, skim the book and attend labs and you'll do fine. She'll answer any questions you have, no matter how dumb they seem. I got an A & really enjoyed the class.
I took this class online and was shocked to see such positive reviews for this teacher. The class overall was fairly easy however it is now the end of the semester and we still haven't received grades for our midterm. She ignored emails sent to her and took over a week to respond to questions on the discussion board. I would not suggest her.
The BEST!
Great professor! She makes the class fun. Highly reccomend her classes! She is super helpful and will meet with you out side of class!
Online course, helpful if you contact her. The nature of being an online class makes it difficult to get a feel for the teacher, but she always encouraged us to try and work together. This course has a lot of reading, blogging and the tests include multiple short essays. Overall a fair and good teacher who wants you to succeed.
Michelle was fabulous. She really enjoys teaching and is so helpful to her students. She really recognizes those who work hard. Her class isn't very easy but if you study your notes and do decent on the weekly quizes, you'll do fine. She wears great clothes, she actually GETS READY for work, thank you! She is really positive and fun to listen to.
Oh man, she was pretty dang good if I do say so myself.
Great online class. She keep s you engaged and the information is relevant. I like that she used a lot of technology. There were videos and blogs that we did. She is very fair and easy to get in touch with by email.
Fun,Great lectures, easy test. Minimal homework. Helpful very avaliable to answer questions in class and out and always avaliable by email. posts all lectures to blackboard. some extra credit oppertunites.
She f'ing ROCKS!
She ROCKS as an instructor and is nice to look at!
VERY poorly organized and chaotic class. I learned very little, and her lectures were un-interesting and hard to pay any attention to. All powerpoint and boring outdated videos. I do not recommend this course to ANYONE it is not worth the stress. Boring, and her tests are normally incredibly difficult due to her not covering the material Thumbs dow
I had this teacher for an online class and I am not sure she knew how to use the system. She did not return emails, she posted quizzes late and sometime not at all. I suggest that her to take a class on Sierra's online learning program. It is sad when the students have to ask the teacher where the assignments are.
Avoid this class at all costs. So much reading you cannot even keep up with your other classes. Work for the week has been posted late (alot)quizzes not there. little or no response to email.
Very little to no interaction. Seemed disconnected with the class. Class is easy to pass if you just do what she posts, assuming she post information. Easy grade to meet a requirment, just don't let her lack of interaction get to you, I didn't even read the book and I got an A.
- Teacher did not answer emails. - Teacher blame bookstore for not having books available when course started. -- Posted assignments weeks late. -- Teacher did not know how to work online system. -- Test are super hard. Takes weeks to grade assessments. --Would not recommend taking any Classes from her online
This class is a disaster! She does NOT know how to use the online program, never interacts with students (we paid good money for this class so we could be taught the information). The reading assigned does not go over quiz material and the exams are 4 essays ea. I think it's sad the only reason some gave her a good grade because of her looks.
This teacher is dishonest, disconnected, and negligent. Content was not posted on time, she never graded 2/3 papers. Does not respond to emails. I contacted her because something didn't post and she told the dean she had talked to me and said that I realized it was my fault. She trains other teachers on the online system so don't let her fool you.
Terrible class. This was the biggest waste of time. She is terrible at interacting w/ the class online and NEVER responds to email. All of her course content is ripped from youtube and other internet sources. None is her own work. 2 written exams and 1 research paper. The last 2 were never graded! Several student complaints, and will write to dean.
She was very open to new perspectives; my biggest problem with teachers is when they think we're all dumb and they know everything. She's very fair and if you pay attention, you'll do well. If you're engaged in what she's teaching then be prepared to actually learn somethin!
Very good teacher. She taught at both Chico and Davis and tells you on the first day everything she teaches is exactly what she taught at those schools. The videos are outdated and hard to watch. She makes it clear what you need to know. Little to no homework
Chill and easy. She makes class kinda fun, but mostly just watching videos and have like 2-3 major assignments.
Had her for 196, 198,& 200. Very good, relaxed teacher! For 200 we had about 5 offcampus labs at Lincoln High. 196 was online, just participate in the discussions and do your case study and you're good! In 198 we watched a lot of informative, relative documentaries with research paper at end. Good, chill classes. *Ag major*
AVOID THIS TEACHER AT ALL COSTS! Eight weeks into a sixteen week course and no feedback as to how good or bad I was doing in class. Took four weeks after our mid-term to finally receive our grades. She doesn't answer emails, would have filed a grievance procedure against her but was told that as she is a tenured professor it would have done nothing
Knows her stuff well even though she refers to notes often. A little bit scatterbrained, the notes are what keep her on track. Cancelled class with no notice twice. Really relaxed and nice. Entertaining and interesting lectures. Late with grading and keeping up on canvas. She is very busy
All movies. Few quizzes. Dont really use the book. Only a research paper and small papers for midterms. SUPER EASY.
If you want the easiest A then you're in the right place. Only one midterm, research paper, and final (they're all online and gives you 2 weeks to complete) SO EASY. Just shows documentaries and textbooks are NOT required!! You can skip class and still pass. Michelle comes off a little careless, she just texts during the documentaries!
She is an awesome teacher, the material has dry areas like the biology part but overall not to hard and well balanced with homework and hands on activities. The test are no joke so study and get ready for a great semester fulled with good information. Field trips are a plus too with only one research paper.
Great Professor! She is really knowledgable and passionate about Ag. Her lectures are interesting. She really cares for her students. Overall I would take another class instructed by her.
Easy class. I would recommend.
Michelle is a great professor. She opened my eyes to the agriculture business in a whole new way. I learned so much in her class. She doesn't assign homework often. Just be prepared for a research paper and a few small assignments. Lots of movie watching and at-home reading. A couple reading quizzes, but super easy overall. She's super cool.
Overall this class is very similar to what you learn in high school biology. She is laid back but also very knowledgeable and funny. I would recommend this class!!!
Professor MacFarlane is a great professor. The exams can be a difficult and I averaged at C's but they really don't affect your grade as long as you study for the weekly quizzes and keep on top of the research paper. The research paper is not that complicated and she didn't seem to grade harshly on them. Overall great professor
Loved this class!
Michelle was awesores and wants you to get a good grade and is willing to work with you. I highly recommend her online ag class!
Wonderful professor, you do have a big term paper due at the end of semester, but she more then prepares you for it, class also comes with a lab, not the for the squeamish, lots of dissections, also head out to Lincoln high school farm, you are responsible for you won transportation their, but thats only done after week 7, and its for lab time
This is THE WORST teacher I have ever had. I am a 4.0 student, I know how to work hard in a class to get a good grade. She was late to post the assignments, gave you way to much hw for 1 class for 1 week, never responded to emails, you cannot work ahead even when going into a surgery even if you get the deans involved, very unpleasent. NEVER TAKE!!!
Michelle is great. Very easy to talk to and always answers any questions you have. Lectures are very informational. The lab with this class is very interesting. You will have homework questions do every week and there are multiple quizzes, but nothing too bad. Only thing I disliked about this class is it was cancelled quite a bit. Do recommend her.
One of my favorite professors. I liked her so much, I took another one of her classes. Pretty easy to get an A if you put in the work. She gives a lot of extra credit in case you're not a great test taker. She cares and wants her students to do well.
Loved this class. Everyone should take it, if you show up and pay attention most of the time you'll pass for sure. Lots of films and movies, so if you don't like that then it wouldn't be the class for you.
I really enjoyed this class. She genuinely cares about her students and gives out enough extra credit that there really is no excuse for not getting an A. 30% of the grade is based on just showing up for lab. She is one of the best professors at Sierra. She wants you to actually learn, not just perform well on tests. The paper wasn't bad at all.
Professor MacFarlane is my favorite Professor at Sierra! Her classes are so enjoyable, even online! She doesn't have tests. Her class consists mainly of lectures and weekly quizzes and discussions (very simple). She is very flexible in her schedule and there may be a week with no lecture or discussion. Would recommend.
Midterm & Final submitted online. Offers extra credit through canvas! Easy grader and super generous and will allow you time to submit/resubmit at a different time if you have problems. Easy A with bare minimum work! Must take.
This class was a lot of work, but I barely did the work/showed up to class, so come to class. Labs are mandatory, get points for attendance. Quizzes and midterm & final based on lecture and one paper based on lab. Doable class if you show up and actually do the work.
Well, in short : tons of homework . ONE week in summer consists of two modules which include: 3-4 pdfs up to 20 pages, a lecture, 2 discussions, 2-3 videos, a paper, plus 2-3 chapters from one book and 1-2 from the textbook. I sent this professor 3 emails regarding midterm and paper - no reply. Called her during office hours -no reply.
I took agriculture 0200 last semester with her and passed with an A thanks to her. Just do the work and she grades you quite generously. Best agriculture teacher!
She's so nice and easy to talk too. It is really easy to get an A in her class because as long as you do the work (questions about videos we watch, 3 papers, and midterm and final) she'll give you full credit. She keeps the class interesting with stories and videos. But, we did only ever have class once a week because she always cancels her lecture
She's probably my favorite professor and I've had like 50. This was a fun class. She is so caring, she wants you to focus on actually learning and not being stressed about a grade. She's life-changing. Take any of her classes, you will not regret it.
the best professor i have ever had. she was the nicest professor ever and was so understanding about everything. Finished the class with 100% overall grade. Highly recommend, i would take every class she offered if i could! No textbook, and no in-class exams. no homework ever, majority of the class was videos which were super interesting!
best teacher ever! i didn't have the best attendance and still got a 99% grade over all. She was such a funny and caring teacher, and i would highly recommend her class! No homework, no textbook, no tests, and no midterm or final exams. Such an enjoyable class!
Easy A. Takes about 30 minutes per week to do work and essays.
Professor MacFarlane was great! She made sure that her course material was connecting to a greater goal and more real-life applications, however she relied too heavily on documentaries and YouTuve videos to teach. I would have loved to see some OG content.
Michelle is very compassionate to her students and is clearly trying to have an impact on the way our food system works and how we view it. There's not a lot of homework, mainly monthly-or-so papers which are simple to write. A lot of the in-class materials are videos and documentaries. Read the assigned reading, I thought it was very interesting!
Easy A and really nice professor. Interesting material but not too much work or papers . Loved this class.
Youll get an A and really nice professor. Interesting material but not too much work or papers . Loved this class.
Michelle is a great Professor! This Food, Agriculture, and the Environment course is extremely informative and makes you want to apply the knowledge right away! Michelles lessons are very straight forward; as long as you follow the modules and submit your work on time you will do fine. And she also has several options for extra credit!
Easy A as long as you do the work. The material itself is interesting. Would take it again.
For the most part, it was an easy and fun class. Professor Macfarlane puts clear effort into her assignments and her Canvas. My only drawback is that we had to watch a lot of full length movies (which takes up a lot of time) and our midterm was four separate essays (which I just found excessive). Overall, a good prof.
Gives lots of homework in way of 'discussions.' Doesn't answer emails. Cancels office hours regularly. Doesn't grade or comment on homework in the specified time SHE stipulates in the syllabus. But is an easy A. Just don't expect to get your assignments graded or commented on in less than 5 weeks.
Michelle is very approachable and helps students succeed.
very interesting. You have to complete your assignments and do the readings.
Cancelled more classes on us than any other teacher Ive had. Paced and said um a lot. Stumbled for words. But shes also very nice and caring of her students.
The class was almost a waste of my money, honestly. The tests didn't hold any rigor, material was remedial. What the teacher did teach was thorough. She's cancelled Tuesday's lecture four times in a row, which is annoying. This class reminded me of a high school class. Not sure I'd take a class from her again, but she was an okay teacher.
Very sweet and approachable teacher and she obviously cares about her students but I learned very little in class as I have experience w animals & we spent the first 6-8 weeks learning about cells which shouldve been biology curriculum. cancelled tuesdays lecture 4 weeks in a row due to "personal emergencies." Paces around and fumbles for words.
Professor Macfarlane is very kind. Yet, she is not tech-savvy and uses material from past years with incorrect due dates. This class requires a lot of reading and watching documentaries. It was hard to reach her through email, even when I was asking for help. She does not give feedback and marked 5 points off of my final without explaining why.
DOES NOT RESPOND TO EMAILS. I have tried to get into multiple classes of hers. Good luck trying to get ahold of her.
I took this class online for GE and never regretted it. Not too much work, easy grader, interesting subjects. There are 4 papers (2 pages each) + a final paper. A lot of discussion boards. If you do the work you will be fine. There is a lot of writing. Would take this class again for sure.
Hard to listen to lectures. Says um a lot and uses the wrong words more often than not. She is very slow and lots of space between words that she fills with um um um um.
The class is very straightforward. Most of the class is reading out of the textbook, watching some supplementary videos/articles, and a few papers. However, she does a good job at communicating her grading guidelines and is happy to help when asked.
This was a great class. I found Professor MacFarlane to be an easy grader. I took her 8-week course. You just need to put thought into the work to show her you are reading and applying what you are learning. There was a lot to read, but most of it was very interesting. I took this class with an English and Math class and still got an A.
Michelle is an extremely loving and nice person. I really enjoy her agriculture lecture class. The class was not difficult and the homework is very easy to understand and the quizzes are online while the midterm and final are open note. Take this class if you enjoy agriculture and want a chill and nice professor!
Michelle is a decent & relatively easy professor for agriculture. Does not do check ins & sometimes it feels like a very distant class. Easy papers & discussions, way too much reading. Stopped reading the textbook & some material as it does not apply to some assignments & there are lots of broken links. It's an easy class but a meh professor.
Awful teaching and learning experience with her. She is not accommodating to student's needs. She will give you 0 points even when most the work is done correctly. I do not recommend.
Her class was super easy, the only thing I'm peeved about is that she claims that she always responds within 24 hours but that is just not true. I emailed her three times about a grading error and she still never fixed it. Like I said the class is super easy so I still got a high A but it was just annoying.
This was a very easy class. I enjoyed being in his class.
A great and passionate teacher! The work was enjoyable to go through, and as the semester progressed, the assignments became even more interesting. I would highly recommend if you like history.
Very easy class, super nice professor! You can tell she cares and is very lax about assignments. Not a lot of work. This class can satisfy the lab requirement and science. Take it for the easy A!
