It's not that the class is hard but she loads you down with petty work. Jack and Jane went up the hill type stuff. You do not have time to do your homework if you are full time student. She goes from minor work to major work. She is not organized. She did not make me feel comfortable talking about racism issues every chance she got. PRN teach
This class is extremely easy, she makes it easy for you. There is a weekly essay, but she doesn't grade hard on them. She works with you and trys to help you whenever she can or sees that there is a problem. I would highly recommend this teacher to anyone who needs to take english.
She is still wet behind the ears. She seems alittle preoccupied by her own classes she is taking, and missed a lot of classes. Sometimes she'd give us a little work, but then one day she would slam us with a lot of work. She was very unpredictable. She pretends to be real tough, but she is understanding. I guess I would take her class again.
This class starts out easy and then just out of no where turns extremely hard. She gives so much work that she cant even keep up. She gets behind on grading and cant give you your grades because she is still grading them. Gives out weekly essays plus a journal assignment every class and a research paper on top of everything. gives too much work
Michelle is a great teacher. You learn a lot but you have to do your work. I would take her class again.
What a great teacher, she is very organized and sets clear goals of what she requires and gives several handouts to assist you. I took this class over Summer and highly recommend it to all
Very clear instructions on work. Interesting and lots of class involvement. You do have do the homework.
very organized and instructions are clear.
Michelle is a great teacher. Educated and knows her stuff. She's very helpful if you just ask. Organized and Talks about Current events. Interesting class. Have to Be in Class and Too the work if you want to be successful. Don't take class if your looking for an easy A. She wans you to learn!
She's the best. I'll study with her again.
Ms.Navarro is an excellent teacher. Very smart lady and very helpful. A lot of writing assignments and a research paper at the end. Attendance is mandatory and you have to be on time. She gives you opportunities to earn extra credit. I really enjoyed taking her class. Im taking her again for 1302
If you do all your work and you come to class on time, its an easy A! She gives a lot of chances to earn extra credit. Theres a lot of writing assignments and journals to write, but its not that hard. Great teacher!
She gives too much homework and has no much going on.
She is the most organized teacher I've had. She is very dedicated to her work and wants to challenge you but let you become interested in the material. There are plenty of ways to accumulate a good grade. Make sure you do all the journals and read the assignments. They're all simple short stories and will save your life.
Very organized. Gives lots of assignment, but it helps up and pile points for a good grade. A great and a professional teacher with top rating.
Great teacher and very helpful. Easy A if you do your work.
She is a very prepared and organized teacher, I learned a lot from her. She knows how to manage her students to do well. She is very professional. I really enjoy her teaching.
She is really organized and a great teacher I am sure. Absolutely horrible in the summer. She gives you a lot of work for an English teacher anyways and cramming that into 4 weeks doesn't help. Nothing is due the first week so she basically crams 4 essays, 2 twenty page long journals in a three week period. Ridiculous.
Her summer course was alot of work, but so worth it. After 4 weeks I actually learned how to write and enjoy it! She talks about all cultures and is supportative of any lifestyle, etc. We learn more than just about writing, she uses real world examples that actually make sense. A MUST take class if you actually want to learn!
There is a LOT of work in this class, but she is incredibly helpful if you need help with anything. She missed class a lot which was kind of inconvenient sometimes when it came to due dates, but overall it was a great class. Do all the work and you will get a high grade.
Great instructor. Very helpful and prepared. I learned a TON from this class that I'll still use after the fact. She assigns a lot of work, so if you're not willing to put in the effort you won't make the grade you want. But if you follow the due date calander, you'll have no problem. KEEP UP WITH THE JOURNALS. Strongly recommend this teacher.
Excellent teacher, took her for 1301 and 1302. Lots of writing and busy work, but all the work makes it easier to get an A. She grades hard on the Term paper but grades easy on everything else. Don't fall behind on the journals and go to her for help
Professor Navarro started off the semester very well. he was an excellent teacher and everything was easy to understand.I only see her on monday and wednesdays, but she's gotten into a habit of canceling almost every class. At 1st i thought it was cool but now its annoying since our work is behind. For example, journal 3 is due&she hasnt given us J #2
bad! Bad!
For me and for all of the class she was a mess. She is always behind in grading papers, giving assignments on time, and she likes to critisize a students work than praise. very interested to talk about racism than the english she is supposed to each.If u are responsible for your academic future, DO NOT take this class.she is=0
i made an 105 out of 100 in this class, she gives extra credits like u won't believe, but there are a whole lot of work to get this A. she gives us tons of journal assignments which include reflection essays, chapter outlines, etc. just make sure u do all the journal because she gives xtra credits on every journal and not missing class.
She was a amazing professor who really made sure you understood the work and enjoyed it, I would really suggest anyone to take her class.
Great teacher
Let me just say I HATE HISTORY! But, Prof. Navarro made it very interesting to me. Yes,teaches a hard class but makes it very interesting. Everyday is pretty much a lecture and some sort of handout to do. She is liberal about the subject, which helps cut out the boringness of the subject. There is lots of work, so just keep up!
I was very frustrated in this class. There is an excessive number of handouts. (We probably received 20 within the first 3 days.) It makes it feel like I'm back in high school again. Note taking is also mandatory. I understand myself enough to know what I need to do to succeed in a class. I don't need to be forced to do things that don't help me.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER!! I absolutely love her. She makes class interesting and fun. She does have handouts that you need to keep up on but as long as your go to class and do your homework the exams are a breeze. I wish she taught all my classes!
Hard Class
Mrs. Navarro is a very good professor. Her classes are tough, but shouldn't be anything new to a college student. You learn more than you think about history and I found her class to be interesting and fun. She makes learning exciting and never a dull moment.
Her class was really easy, but it was fun! Make sure you actually GO TO class and pay attention to her lectures. It may seem like she gives a lot of work, but it really isn't that much. Really. Her tests are easy, just study and look over/do the reviews that she gives out. She teaches well, and she sometimes gives hints to what's on tests!
I absolutely loved taking this class. Professor Navarro is officially 1 of my favorite professors at Richland. No joke. She can be very tough at times but you just gotta hang in there and do your work and you'll easily get an A. I got an A+ when I took 1301. I'm taking her class again for 1302. You won't regret it!(if you're not a lazy one)
I went from getting a 35 on the first test, to getting a 99 in the class! Don't get me wrong, i worked my A** off to get there!! She gives a LOT of extra credit--take full advantage of it! and is ALWAYS willing to help! She's super encouraging, and there's literally never a dull moment with her & goes over things repeatedly for clarity! AWESOME PROF
I took her online class. I think it was terrible and she didn't want to help you at all.
I took her online summer course. The work load was so heavy. There were days where she expected you to watch an hour & a half long movie, read a chapter & an article, write a one page discussion board on it, & write 3 responses. I needed to drop this course, & it took her 5 days to respond by email, which was after the drop date. Thanks a lot.
I did learn, but the format in which we do homework didn't make sense. I took it online and she had an assignment due everyday, so if you are taking other classes, forget about being able to keep up. I'm not being bias,I pulled off an A but still, not taking 1302 with her. Too stressful.
She's tough and there is A LOT of work....
I took her history course over winter mester and received an A. She's a good teacher who cares about her student. I would suggest taking her! I'm taking her again this summer to finish out my other history credit!
The information and assignments were easy, however it was a lot. Must committ a few hrs everyday. I took the 4wk online course, which was okay for me because it was the only class I had at time. I would not recommend taking it with a full load. No textbook needed, so you can save money there. Got an A but wouldn't take her 1302 class.
The work was what I would expect from an online flex course, however, the professor was rather rude and condescending. She would inconsistently grade assignments, often weeks after submitting them, and demanded respect, without giving it in return. Making sure to avoid her in the future, if I value my GPA, and I would encourage you to do the same.
I had Professor N for Hist 1301 and 1302. It is a very easy course as long as you put in the time. She offers extra credit. Most of the work is Discussion Boards with several questions. My only complaint is that in both classes she did not submit grades until the class was almost finished. It was an easy A and I would take her again.
This class was ridiculous. Do not take if you have other classes. She posts that assignments will be up by a certain date then doesn't put them up until days later w/o giving time to complete.DEMANDS respect but doesn't give any. Gives a ton of reading & watching videos then expects tons of written explanations. Do not take unless you LOVE history
Intimidating and overwhelming class at first. I hate History but made a 104 in this class while taking 6 other classes at the same time. Lots of extra credit. Just do the work cuz she doesnt actually read it all just skims it. Easy to make an A even tho it's a lot of work but it's not hard. I actually learned info in this class.
She made the class really interesting and very group work-oriented. You have to attend the class to do well, but she has a very dynamic teaching style. I didn't do all the work and still got a B. Only negative is that she gave a lot of hw. Test were easy as long as you paid attention to her lectures.
Highly do not recommend for history. Expects students to buy the textbook but clearly never cracked it open. Grass grows faster than she grades. During lecture, she acts like she'd rather be anywhere else. Seems more interested in Hispanic cultural studies than U.S. history, much less world history. History enthusiasts are in for disappointment.
This professor posts assignments later than she says she will. She does not give adequate time to complete assignments. She requires an absurd amount of discussion boards. She requires that you watch videos that are 2-4 hours long everyday. It's a ridiculous amount of work even for a flex course. 010 would recommend.
She gives waaaay to much work. Do not take her for any kind of flex term or wintermester. You have an hour long video, and 10 page long journals to read, and write a discussion board over them. due everyday. No late work, no exceptions. I WOULD NOT recommend. Unless you want to dedicate your whole life to her class. DONT take.
At times I felt like I was drowning, but she is very clear about what she expects at the beginning of the semester. She assigns a ton of work, but the assignments are interesting and helpful in gaining a deep understanding of the material. The lectures are fast-paced and enlightening. Tests were short answers and essays.
Tough but fair. Keep on top of your journals and you'll do well on the tests. It's quite a bit of work, but you'll get an A if you do it all. I didn't use any, but she offers lots of extra credit. The textbook is available on line. No need to buy it.
By far my favorite history class I have taken. Does 1302 starting in present day and going backwards. Lectures are amazing! Lots of homework, but it is not hard, just a lot of work. Gives ridiculous amounts of extra credit. Very entertaining teacher-always looked forward to this class!
She is the most crystal clear professor you will take! Her materials are always precise, concise, and organized! It IS a lot of assignments, but it's worth it and the more assignments, the higher the chance of you passing! I took during summer and didn't struggle at all. Just keep up with the assignments. Some of my classmates didn't and got Cs.
She responds to emails timely, and is clear on what she wants on the message boards. Took this class online and it was easy, the faults are my own for missing certain deadlines such as reply days. I enjoyed writing what I learned about each week. it could be a lot of work for working students. Free eBook don't buy unless you want to.
I just recently took her class FA2015 and I really liked this professor. Yes she does give a lot of assignments but they aren't due until about 3 weeks after they are given to you, so you have plenty of time to complete them. We had no quizzes AT ALL and the only test we took we're 2 midterms and a final exam. Your attendance does matter!!
Taking her class means you have to read a lot articles and videos. She requires to have long paragraph for each discussion board. I wrote with my understanding but she give me C for that. Don't expect to get extra credit because you have to read and watch videos as other assignments.
I took this class as a online flex term to finish my credits. I have got to say that she does give a lot of work. It took me a long time to finish simple assignments she gave us due to the amount of reading she gives us. Along side the readings she also assigns tons of videos to watch. If you want an A, she really makes you work for it.
I took her class for wintermester and it was a lot of work. Everything was easy and you have to put in the time to work on your assignments. Tests were really easy as long as you learned from the assignments and readings. She makes you work for an A, so work hard for it.
There are a lot of discussion boards. You must read and watch videos, there are a lot but it is not overwhelming. I was hesitant to take this course because of remarks below but it is not hard to complete this course at all. Be sure to submit work on time, boards are closed as soon as the deadline hits. Excellent Course!
I took professor Navarro for history 1302 and at first I was worried I wouldn't be able to handle it because of many of the comments people made here. However, her class is SUPER easy. Make sure you do the work that you need to do, actually study for the tests, and just show up. Finished the semester with a 100!
Professor is slightly scatter-brained, but instructions and expectations are clear and she will not sway. Expect a take home assignment every class, but not hard or too lengthy. Strict about attendance and cell phones, but if you go to class and do the assignments an A is easy to come by. She takes a long time to grade, but I'm taking her again.
She is extremely hard on gradiñg. She is going about gradiñg personally if she happens to like you than you are lucky if not.........
I am a dual-credit student, and took Professor Navarro's eight week online 1301, & 1302 class. She is strict on due dates. Plagiarism is a big deal to her so do not just copy & paste your work off of some sight. There are discussion boards due every day, so give yourself time to work. As long as you put effort forth, you should make a good grade.
Strict deadlines, no exceptions. No tests, lots of discussion boards that require extensive writings from book chapters, handouts and videos that are sometimes an hour long. Also require extensive comments on 3 other students posts. I spent at least 5 hours per discussion board. Two term papers and final exam also a major paper. Homework everyday
Professor Navarro was my absolute favorite this semester! Yes, you have to come to class for a grade, but tbh, you will want to come. She has SO many extra credit options, just don't be lazy and do them and they will pay off. Take her if you have a light load and you'll really be grateful. Loved her lectures so different from anything I've taken.
You do not need to buy a book which is always nice. As it is common with online classes you will need to do some reading sometimes one or two chapters per week. I enjoyed having the opportunity to earned extra credit. The teacher demands quality in all assignments. She is always clear and fair in all the grading but do not expect an easy A.
The class isn't hard but it's just a ton of busy work-be prepared to do way more writing than you want to. The textbook isn't mandatory which is nice, but she is awful about putting things up when she is supposed to. The midterm is due tomorrow and she was supposed to make it available two days ago and it is nowhere to be seen on ecampus.
Not a fan of history but I love her class & would take it again. All her information she posts w/n the assignment tab, including reading material and videos. It is important to post your assignments early as well as your responses to the other students if you can. She does not Accept late work. Books are all online. Don't purchase books.
LOTS OF READING, fair grader! Assignments are due every other day or so, no late work is accepted. She did make the course semi fun and along with writing in 3 sections you also have to reply to 3 other people other than that I have no complaints.
EASY A. If you don't procrastinate, then you will do great! Gives so much extra credit! Textbook is free online or if you need hard copy only 7$! ATTENDANCE, you can only skip up to 2 times to still receive A, if you skip more than 6 AUTO FAIL. Assignments are kept in journal you turn in 2 times through semester. Funny lectures! She's caring!!
I took this online course during the winter semester. I enjoyed how she incorporated different media to teach history. From watching TED talks, to documentaries she made learning history interesting. Be prepared to express your own opinions through discussion boards and essays.
Favorite professor
very good teacher, but it need to work on it. If the person don't understand, she can help a lot. She help the students, but she is going to do nothing if the person don't do anything
I learned SO much from this class. It was difficult, I took the class in an eight week period. It's a lot of writing, but she makes sure that you don't forget when any assignment is due and she is very supportive. Definitely take this Professor.
amazing lectures and caring professor. If you are a procrastinator, do not take this class. She will give assignments and papers, keep in journal, turn in only 2 journals. Test are not multiple choice, but gives out so much extra credit, so if you fail all 3 tests you can still get an A+. Cannot skip more than 3 classes to receive an A. RECOMMEND!
Homework pretty much everyday for the journals. strict on attendants but still understanding
So much work and the journals are hectic also the exam are no bubble but off of short answer and essays
Be ready to watch a couple of hour long videos, articles and long chapters. She is a very tough grader! The complicated thing about it is that she won't post grades until the end of the semester so you won't know if your doing good or bad. I thought I was going to end up with a "C" but thanks to extra credit I was able to boost up my grade.
A lot of work and Extra Credits. Work hard and will get A. I did my History 1301 & 1302 ( 2018 Spring & Summer class) with Professor Michelle and I got A in both. Just take your time, try and do the Extra Credits ..
Navarro has a good heart and she is an understanding teacher but she lectures through the whole class nobody will get a chance to speak. also feels like a high school class because she takes attendance and will always start class a little early and always make you stay later than the class period with her lectures. Nice teacher but lots of HW!
She is an amazing teacher but if you are not willing to learn, work and participate, find someone else. The textbook was free online, all I needed to do was dedicate my time and energy to the 16 writing assignments throughout the course. No final exam. Lots of room for extra credit if need be. If she taught anything else I would take that too.
Some are saying that there's lots of homework but they don't shed light on the fact that some of those assignments are extra credit. She does give an assignment each day of class but because mine was Tues/Thur it wasn't that bad. She remembers her students and takes time to connect with them. I Literelly learned so much in class. TAKE HER!!!
Homework heavy. Lots of writing. HOWEVER, no tests, midterm, or final exam. Very rare for a history class. Lots of self learning as assignments are based on content a week ahead of lectures. Required to read and watch a lot of content. It's not a difficult course and allows you to relate to history. Only negative was the book. Author is very bias.
we had a lot of assignments through the week, by the end of the week you must do the replies to the discussion boards in order to get full credit. do you work and you will pass
I took her online for a 6 week flex term. 4 hours worth of reading or watching videos every other day and then hours worth of discussion board posts and replies . Expect working 7 days a week to stay even.
Spring sem. Cares about teaching, met with students personally during the semester to talk about their academic careers. Lots of papers and writing. Textbook was available online for free and linked by prof, don't bother buying from store. Don't be disruptive in class, do the assignments and discussion boards, easy A. No tests. Would take again.
WARNING FOR ONLINE STUDENTS!!!!!! Do NOT take this teacher, she is the WORST!! She has insane assignments that are super long, each section has three to four sections and each section has literally like ten questions so be ready to write like crazy. I DID NOT like her class.. this one of my worst experiences. She takes centuries to grade.
Show up because its mandatory. NO TESTS OR FINAL EXAM!!! this class was so easy. Everything is online but its so simple but be prepared to read!! Thats it lol. Shes cool and tries to be funny! And we watch videos to understand the material better and more clear. Id take her again because I didnt type any essays!! Loved it
Professor Navarro is fantastic! You will learn more than just U.S. History in her class, and it will be useful information as a student, professional, and a human being. Prepare to take notes because she will grade them. Heavy on the homework, but I found the information I learned fascinating. It gave me new perspectives. No Final Exam & Ex Credit.
If you don't like to read or white papers, this is not the class for you. If you really want to learn about history and type then I would recommend her. I wrote my honest truth about the assignments giving on time and passed and learned so much.
Wonderful lectures and great assignments to go along with them! Definitely a solid professor to start off my college career with!
Love my professor
Professor Navarro is going to give you an education. The class is not easy but you will come out knowledgeable in history. With that said, do the work and you will pass. Just stick to turning in assignments on time and put in a little bit of effort and anyone taking her class should get an A. Offers extra credit.
If you're wanting a "think outside of the box" professor and don't mind A LOT of work then this is who you want to take. There are the weekly lectures, but I noticed that most of the homework involved more documentary videos (1-3 hours of videos) twice a week instead of the lecture material and you don't have a lot of time to do them.
She's the best 10/10
too much work
This professor cares about her students very much. She learned my name within the first week of class. If you do the work when it's due you will easily pass with an A. Her lectures are easy to understand. She tries to engage the class with online discussions and uses the GroupMe app at the beginning of class. She also gives out plenty extra credit.
Good professor, but too many assignments a lot of reading and writing. Takes forever to grade, but is hard on deadlines. WO
NO TESTS!! Complete all the assignments before the firm deadline, its a lot but if you complete them within the regular due you are going to be fine and get good grades. Professor cares about your mental health so if anything let her know and she will lead you with any difficulty. Overall, I enjoyed her class a lot.
Very easy class but a lot of work. The assignments are so extremely boring but easy. Theres 16 assignments, 4 discussion boards, 1 "essay", each with 3 sections (except the essay with 4). Each section is 1-2 paragraphs and aren't too bad. Lot of restrictions on using ai, so be wary of that. I ended the class with a 100%, if u do the work easy A
