She is one of the coolest professors i have ever had, but she is very difficult. You have to come prepared to learn, or you will do poorly from the 1st day. If you want to learn, i reccomend her, for the slackers, you better steer clear.

Very smart lady. Very accepting and not too much attitude.
Great instructor. Test can best hard if you are so prepared.
Great professor, very interesting, but make sure you study for the tests they are NOT going to be easy.

She is awesome, just like Fisher. She is tough but very fair and yet she is very understanding. Always answers questions very quickly and is always eager to help as long as you are not afraid to ask for it. Take her class and you won't go wrong. :)
she is a great teacher, i would take her again any day. she got me to minor in Phil when i got my BS

There's only one way to describe Dr. Rotert: as a bad-ass mutha (shut yo mouth)...I'm just talkin' 'bout Rotert. If it wasn't for Dr. Rotert, I'd probably still be in that psych ward. Thanks Dr. Rotert, you've made the world a safer place.
Excellent professor. Both serious and witty in her presentation of philosophy.
Excellent and well rounded presentation of all material.

She is a great teacher. Lesbian? I think not. She makes you think about your response rather then just argeeing with you. I just wish the class wasn't so immature. When she makes you argue your stance people think she's pushing her views. Grow up people.
Who the hell cares if she's a lesbian or liberal or whatever? Dr. Rotert is a great professor who does her job well - she makes you think. She's tough, but she gives everybody a fair shot. Big rec for Rotert.
Sopetimes she's a little out there, but she really knows what she's talking about. She didn't try to push her views on us, and actually made it clear to us that she didn't even want to point out what philisophical view she was, as to not ruin our view on the class as a whole. She's tough but cool.
probably two of the most interesting classes i have taken. I am hooked on phl now she is a great teacher and only 4 test the whole sem can't beat that. def take this teacher
Dr. Rotert impressed me by her knowledge and the objectivity with which she taught. Questions were answered thoroughly and patiently. Unlike some professors who possess a misplaced superior attitude, she is one of the few who is, truly, gifted in teaching. Dr. Rotert's finely honed sense of humor is a delight to hear. I recommend this class.
Dr. Rotert is truly an EXCEPTIONAL and OUTSTANDING professor. She teaches her students to really think beyond what they think they might know. Her assignments and tests are challenging. I highly recommend any one to take a class with Dr. Rotert. I have decided to minor in Philosophy, because of her I want to obtain more knowledge.
Dr. Rotert is in the top 5 for excellence in teaching @ RVC. You want a professor that will make you excercise your brain thoughts, then take a class with Dr. Rotert. If you don't you will never forgive yourself.
Dr. Rotert does not riticule students she disagrees with. I should know, we go rounds all the time and I'm an admitant conservative. She know's my views and I know hers--we argue and that's about it. But I know that when she grades my tests or journals that she is doing so objectively. I recomend her very much. She is an excelent teacher.
If you're content being a machine in a material world - you won't enjoy this class. If you think, want to think, want to learn to think - I believe you'll enjoy this class.
awesome teacher, if you are not open minded stay away. if you voted bush, stay away. if not, take her class! you will love it! i took her for interim and the four hours FLEW by!
Rotert's the best. The hardest, yet most fullfilling class that I have taken at Rock Velley. She is sensitive, and smart, fair but not a pushover. If you want to come out of this class a better person, take it! But be prepared to work for it. (A sign of a great teaher)

ok, so granted i slept in her class every day...all day...but still...i loved her...and got an easy A...mostly cuz i already knew everything...but fascinating woman...i say take her class
Dr. Rotert is one of the most fantastic teachers I have ever had. She makes you think about a situation one way and then blows your mind and makes you seriously think about it another way. She does not push any one belief and teaches so many sides to every situation and theory. She keeps the class interested and wanting to come to class. I highly recommend Dr. Rotert.
Good professor...found the class to be very interesting but at times it was a bit irritating not because of the professor but more so because of the stupid people that where in the class and didnt know how to open there tiny closed minds.....great person...very interesting
awesome teacher
Smart, funny, interested and interesting.
Great instructor. Entertaining class. Very interesting at first but beware, it may start to get a little boring. All in all, great class.
What a nut case! Very interesting teacher and she will definately keep your attention by convincing you that clean tile grout is more important than saving 2 million people. Just keep an open mind and participate in class and you'll do fine.
I don't think i've ever been more curious to know whats going on in someones head than I am with her. Great teacher, does a good job atg not influencing students perspectives.
I thought I knew how I felt on most moral issues. But Professor Rotert got me seeing so many sides to different moral issues that my opinion on some issues have changed. She is so interesting to listen and her examples can be so funny.
Very interesting. I thought this would be a dull class, but it kept my attention and she made you want to come to class just because you never knew what she was going to say next. I recommend it as a regular semester course rather than an interim class, just because of all the information that is put out.
The teacher, like the artist and the philosopher, can perform his/her work adequately only if he/she feels himself/herself to be an individual directed by an inner creative impulse, not dominated and fettered by an outside authority.
First person in a long time (years) that disturbed my thoughts in a professional manner. I like the way she teaches. She wanted to open nescient minds right away and see "reality" in a different light. The tests can be a bit rough, but they can be moderate/easy if you pay attention to the lectures. Pay attention to test questions. Her=Teacherhood.
I took this as an interim class. She made what i thought would be a boring class very interesting. Great at lectures, Plays devil's advocate a lot, and is very good at it. Always helped me out when i asked. Quizes are easy as they come, tests arent too bad so long as you take good notes and study for them. I would take her again!
michelle rotert is a god... that is if god's exist. really tho, she is a great professor. so well informed. never reads her notes off of power point or anything like that. she is willing to let you push buttons and ask the tough or otherwise uncomfortable questions. respecfully, yet completely, approaches controversial subject matter.
I thought she was an awesome teacher. From the minute I walked in to her classroom till the minute I walked out, I had fun. It was very interesting. She knows everything. She doesn't have notes, she just knows what she's talking about. I thought it was awesome!
Very intelligent. Rotert understands thoroughly the basic concepts of Philosophy and utilizes them within her lecture to illustrate better these concepts. Her explanations are effective and well formulated.
great prof! the notes you take is exactly what is going to be on the quizzes/tests. she gives studyguides as well and the lectures are so interesting! the things she talks about are things you would never think about! loved this class!!!!
Fantastic, entertaining and interesting
I took this class in summer and it was awesome. She has alot of enthusiasm and doesn't make anyone look like idiots for expressing their opinions. She clearly tells what she wants from everybody on tests and lives up to her word. Props from me Prof Rotert. WORD.
Great teacher! Makes philosohy a somewhat understandable thing to those of us who have a hard time thinking outside the box. She puts things in a funny, reasonable explanation that you can relate to.
Great teacher
Makes philosophy come alive. Very cool teacher.
I enjoyed her class. She makes everything very clear, and study guides reflect exactly what's on the tests. She will definetely open your mind to things you would never think about. She never interjected or forced her opinions, and I found her to be very open minded. I would reccomend her 100%. You really do not need the book.
Rotert's an interesting gal, and makes her Philos intro class interesting as well. It's a very easy class. She could probably go a little deeper than she does, but still I learned a good deal from her. She makes class pretty fun, which of course is great. I'd recommend her as a prof. I wonder if her other classes are as easy as intro to Philos.
dr. rotert is a very awesome teacher, she's really down to earth, easy going and makes it really easy for you to comment or speak up in class, makes sure everyone understands what she's explaining, i'd take her again if she taught other things, gives study guides, tells exactly what's on tests, and quizes are fairly easy..great teacher
Professor Rotert displays what education is all about. She is both intelligent and real. What she teaches is far beyond just requirements to recieve a degree..what she teaches are things that you can take with you that will benefit you throughout life!
Dr. Rotert's class was always interesting. It was so much fun. She was funny, smart, and entertaining. She made learning fun. I would definitely take another class that she taught. The tests were a little difficult (for me), but probably on the easier side. I didn't really study so I got a C.
AWESOME professor..highly recommended!
She is really easy, and does care for her students. He is alittle disorganized, and doesn't remember what she's doing, but she's nice and definitly one of the best teachers you can have. Not alot of homework and barely any reading. You have to try to fail this class. Take her if you need a humanity for your associates.
i absolutely love this teacher!!! She is not easy easy but she gives you study guides and if you do them you will be fine! She is funny and interesting...an expert teacher! Never boring! i would highly suggest that if you take any Philosophy class you take this teacher! I am sad that i have to leave her classes...i have taken them all!!!
She is a very good instructor. Clear in her lectures, even though the book is hard to understand. Would take her again.
She was a great teacher. She made and not so interesting subject interesting. Her tests are easy as long as you do the review, which everythin is in the notes. Don't miss class or you will be lost, everything on the tests is based off the notes for the most part. Don't get an 89.5% she won't round up for you!!:(
Could use a little better organization for us to take better notes, but very knowlegeable and entertaining.
Rotert is absolutely amazing. I love her.
Dr. Rotert is the best teacher I've had at Rock Valley! She is amazing, insightful, extremely knowledgeable, open-minded, clear, and helpful. I highly recommend taking her for Philosophy.
TAKE HER... Excellent teacher!!!!
The best teacher I ever had at RVC. She is extremely knowledgeable, enthusiastic, personable. I wish she taught more classes beyond PHL 101! I would take more classes with her in a hearbeat.
Got an A in her class but she sucks and is way into herself and her ego. Boring to hear all her tales about herself. Could have learned as much just reading the book and taking the exams.
I loved her! She is hilarious and very interesting! And, she is seriously hot!!!
She's really nice. She knows a lot about philosophy. Broadened my understanding a lot about the world. Great teacher. Take her.
hilarious! made class so interesting. I took her moral issues class. Learned so much. actually enjoyed going to class. great elective to take if its not your major!
Good teacher. Really makes class interesting. One of the funniest teachers I have had. There are a lot of quizes but they are really easy. Tests are pretty easy, too. Overall... good class, good teacher, and lots of fun!
Hilarious teacher. She can actually teach and be a comedian at the same time. Definitely the teacher to take for philosophy!
I am taking her now and love her! I even registered for another one of her classes next semester!
She's just amazing! I love her sense of humor and she manages to make a topic that could be completely confusing and boring just a riot and incredibly thought provoking. I plan on taking another one of her classes just because I enjoyed this one so much. Philosophy + family guy references = Love.
Great teacher, loves the way she presents every theory. Is willing to work with you on the side and help you.
Best professor I've ever had. I've taken her twice and wish she taught more classes that I could be in. The exams are pretty clear and the study guide is really helpful. I always looked forward to going to her class and listening to her speak. Take her if you can, you will learn a lot and it will change the way you very the world.
She makes class enjoyable to go to. It's the only class I look forward to. There isn't much homework and the study guides are extremely helpful. I'd recommend her class 100%
Best professor I've ever had! She is amazing!
My favorite teacher at RVC. Made class interesting. Plenty of chances for extra credit. Quizzes and Exams very easy right from notes and everything she gives you. Easiest class I have ever taken, but you need to be in class to get notes for all your tests and exams.
She is an awesome teacher. I feel like I actually learned something valuable and not just memorization. Not too much homework. She provides study guides that are excellent for preparing you for the test. She is very funny and keeps you interested. Highly recommend
SHE IS AWESOME AND FUNNY.....TESTS ARE SOMEWHAT HARD BUT YOU ONLY HAVE 3 ALL SEMESTER AND ALL MULTIPLE CHOICE
Prof Rotert is a very animated and fun teacher to be in class with. Class participation is encouraged and not a lot of homework. Three main tests, final is not cumulative. The paper she assigns is interesting and very straight forward. Easy grade if you go to class.
Very interesting and personable teacher. Not afraid to step on people's philosophical toes, but does so in a respectful manner.Very humorous, and pretty simple class, she definitely knows her stuff. Only complaint is she lets everyone get in on the conversation, which can be good, but my class is a disaster of "great thinkers" so be aware of that.
Loved this class!hated philo that i couldnt grasp it!She told me some ppl can just get it!i didnt!but her teaching style is awesome! She should be a speaker!very interesting, but tests were hard!loved the writing assingments.she knows her stuff!
The most amazing teacher and person I have ever known. I had her for two of her classes and it was the only class I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of. She is wonderful.
She is an awesome teacher! Highly recommend! Nice, funny, down to earth, all around genuine person. Take detailed notes in addition to attending every class and you'll do good on the quizzes and exams.
loved this class! be sure to study for the quizzes. pop quizzes throughout. study study study and you'll do fine! she is very nice and funny. recommend :)
This class isn't hard but makes you think. Loved taking her and learned a lot.
Rotert is a fantastic teacher! She's very knowledgeable and loves to have discussions with students. She mainly teaches by lectures so you need to be in class and take notes, otherwise you won't know what to study. Otherwise, her class is super interesting and she's a very fun teacher!
She gives "Pop" quizzes, but tells you the day before. Tests arent the easiest, but can pass them with a little bit of studying. lectures are intersting, she really makes you wonder. the paper your write is a reflection paper, easy A. would take her again!!
She was an awesome teacher! Her class wasn't that hard as long as you actually went to class. She was hilarious and really made the class fun
I've skipped her class so many times just to catch up on sleep & still did well. She's funny, intelligent, laid-back, and gives freakin' study guides for testsquizzes. Try to get notes from others if you miss lecture & you should be fine, they cover everything. The 100 pt writing project at the end is an easy A!! Can bring u up a grade. Good prof.
2 tests plus final, NOT cumulative. 1 paper on opinions, NOT essay format. 6 quizzes, lowest dropped. EC for going to a speech or watching a movie on Netflix, easy. Lectures are GREAT. Hilarious, fun, engaging. One of the best teachersclasses I've ever had! GO TO CLASS! No attendance, but tests mostly on lecture noteshandouts, NOT book.
Professor Rotert is so nice and engaging. There's no textbook, and she does go over everything she expects you to know more than once in class, but if you're not paying attention or are absent, you're going to need a friend to help you catch up. I'm trans and she put my preferred name on the roster and called me that from day 1 and that was rad.
She's one of the funniest teachers I've ever had and her lectures are always interesting.
Great professor. Even if you do not like the topic she makes up for it. Offers one easy extra credit assignment, 6 quizzes (easy if you study notes), 5 short answers due at the end of the semester, one test, one midterm, and final is just the third course test. this is the way all her PHL classes are set up. Take any of her classes if you can.
This was my second time taking Rotert. She is such a funny professor. Her lectures will seriously make you think. She makes it very possible for you to get an A if you try. Most importantly, both times I took her, her class was something I looked forward to. Wish I could take her a 3rd time. Take her, you will laugh a lot and learn to think.
Professor Rotert is an awesome teacher. She is very insightful and gives good lectures. She knows her stuff! Enjoy the class because it will make you think. And best of all no textbook used at all.
This class had some fun and good conversations. I loved professor Rotert, she was hilarious and made me want to go to class. The material was tough but she presented in an easier understanding way. There was one paper (reflective writings) due at the end of the semester, some quizzes, and 3 exams. Study guides were given for all exams.
Great professor. 3 tests 6 quizzes. and a paper and extra credit. SUPER easy to pass if u show up to class. Also, there is no book because she does not want her students to pay the money when she can teach it to you. Her classes are super interesting as well.
Rotert is awesome. Very bright and entertaining. You will learn a lot and be challenged. In other words, she is dat gurl. 10/10 would recommend. dank lectures.
Rotert is an amazing prof. She really cares about her students' understanding of the material and is very encouraging of group discussions during lectures. Her teaching style is easy to follow and will make you see things differently. I would highly encourage anyone to take at least one of her classes.
Professor Rotert is totally wicked! I took her class during the summer I. The material isn't challenging, but it makes you think. Expectations are clear and attainable. I found both the lectures and the discussions very stimulating. The class is short and comprehensive, and I am confident I can apply my newfound knowledge. Honestly sad it's over!
Greathe professor. I would definitely recommend her.
If you want or need to take a philosophy course at RVC, be assured you'll enjoy the two-for-one deal of a fun class that makes you reflect on your own beliefs.
Michelle Rotert is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She teaches the material very well and keeps you focused. She made us write one paper all semester and her quizes and exams are very easy if you follow her study guides and notes. Definitely recommend
Worst I've had at this institution. The summer semester is condensed but this class really should have had a required intro to philosophy class--we only grazed the surface of actual issues because we had to cover so much of it. Prof made a point of engaging a select few in class to the detriment of everyone else; nobody is paying $$$ for that.
Best Professor at RVC! She is such a cool and down to earth teacher.
Dr. Rotert is a great professor. Her insight is wonderful and she wants to to understand the course material. It wasn't too rigorous and the lecture material was easy to comprehend. We had a few quizzes and 3 exams, which you don't get to use your notes for, but those assignments weren't difficult at all. I give her an A.
Professor Rotert a lovely human. Her lectures are interesting and she is very comical. Definitely recommend this instructor.
Rotert is a very hilarious teacher. The teaching is very clear and keeps the class motivated by providing hilarious examples about the different terms. You'll need just a little time of studying and you should get an A.
One of the best at RVC! She really knows what she's doing and makes every class interesting. Has very clear expectations and gives you everything you need to get a good grade. She also offers easy extra credit.
By far the best professor at RVC! Very clear with everything. Philosophy was not my thing but she made me love it and understand it, I ended up with an A. would highly recommend.
She is very passionate about philosophy which is evident in her lectures. She really digs into important issues and makes you think deeper about them. Class discussions were always interesting and fun to participate in. It is an easy class, all you have to do is show up and take good notes.
This has been one of my favorite classes. Her lectures really leave you rethinking life and you will see things differently after this course. Teaching style is great and she knows how to make information stick. Hilarious but such a unique experience. Seriously, this class is for anyone regardless of major. Get your mind messed with in the best way
She is a great professor, always willing to help!!!!!! The class is difficult because is philosophy but she will try all that she can to make you understand
Rotert is literally one of the best professors at RVC! She has a great sense of humor and made me laugh every class. The class can be difficult, but if you take time to study, you should do fine.
Really great teacher
Passionate, funny, and very likable. She encourages lots of class discussion and questions. We had an autistic student in our clsss which she handeled extremely well and professionally letting him work through questions and comments. Dont miss class, theres quizzes.
She was an amazing professor, not only did you learn, but her sarcasm makes you want to engage and retain what you have learned. Highly recommend taking this her, her class not only opens your mind to information you never really think about, but the information you learn, you apply to your everyday life.
I loved having her! Her lectures were so fun and interesting. We talked about current events. She encourages participation, but it isn't required. She is so funny! She is good at providing notes and if you look over the notes a little, you'll do just fine on the test.
Her class was amazing!! Her lectures make up the whole class and she only gives out reading homework that don't even have to do. She is super funny and the material was interesting. She gives out some extra credit. There are only a few things she grades so you need to do well on them but they are easy and she spoon feeds what you need to know.
She is honestly the best professor Ive had so far during my time at Rock Valley. She tells you exactly what you should know for the tests and is always available and helpful when you need assistance. I was always tired when i got to her class, but shes super funny and made me laugh every single day. I definitely recommend taking her!!
The material can be found every where online or in the book. The presentation is what matters to me. I actually look forward to showing up to class. It's fun and easy to remember compared to just reading the book. The tests and reflective writings aren't difficult either. You know what to expect and she doesn't ask too much of the student.
One of the best professor I've had so far! If you just pay attention and go to her class every time, you will pass her class! She gives you sets of study questions each exam. If you do them, that's pretty much 97% of the exam. She's a very chill professor. I hope I can have her again in the nearest future.
Professor Rotert was amazing! I loved every second of her class. It was one of the few I genuinely loved showing up for. She discusses topics people are too scared to talk about, and she listens to everybody's opinion. Her class was very easy as long as you took good notes! 10/10 would recommend.
Professor Rotert is an amazing instructor! She will tell you in class when there are quizzes, so if you miss, you lose those points. Her lectures are amazing! She gives study guides for exams and quizzes, which are an easy 100%. Just go to class. Some are completed in 2 class periods. You will get more out of class if you are there participating.
Professor Rotert is hilarious and I loved her lectures. The material was a little hard for me, as philosophy is pretty complex, BUT she gives you plenty of EC opportunities if needed and is personable.
Professor Rotert is amazing. She has incredible lectures and is so good at making the material relatable to her students. Love love love her I would take her multiple times. Her homework and tests are also self explanatory based on the notes
I never had a class so easy! If you just show up and take her short notes, well let's just say there's no way of failing.
Highly recommend taking her classes. Attendance isnt mandatory but I highly suggest you show up or its almost impossible to catch up. Her lectures are so amazing and shes hilarious!
Best philosophy teacher ever. The tests and quizzes are straight forward and easy and she really engages her class. She gave extra credit opportunities and even curved her classes tremendously due to Covid. Its really hard to fail Professor Roterts philosophy class and I would recommend her to anyone !
I took Professor Rotert's online Intro to Philosophy class, and I am glad that I did. Her lectures are engaging and she explains everything in a way that is easy to understand. I truly felt that I learned a lot and I also gained a new appreciation for the subject of Philosophy. I will definitely be taking another one of her classes!
This was my favorite professor at Rock Valley! The only downside I had to taking this class was that I had to take it online due to Covid. I would've loved to have her in person! Her online lectures are funny, natural, and very easy to follow! Loved her, and would take her again if given the opportunity.
I wish this class would have been in person! She is phenomenal and super caring. Looking forward to take her again.
Read the notes and take the quiz. Very easy. Paper at end of semester is a breeze.
Prof Rotert is super caring and really wants you to do good in her class. I took her class online and it was easy, the lectures, quizzes, and exams were not hard and as long as you review the lecture notes then you will receive an A.
My favorite professor at Rock Valley who I had the honor of being able to have a class with twice. Sadly, because of the pandemic, both semesters I had to take her class online. I only wish I could have been able to have this great professor in person. I loved her class and personality! Some of the best classes I've ever taken. Very helpful!
One of the best professors I've ever had. Her lectures are entertaining, and she is very passionate about philosophy. She is hilarious and makes the whole class laugh. She tells you what is going to be on the quizzes and tests. All multiple choice. Easy if you study. 10/10 professor!!
She is a very cool teacher and is super chill. I didnt buy a textbook and it wasnt a big deal at all. You barley use the textbook, and if anything you just use it in class and you can borrow hers. The class is confusing but definitely manageable. Not really any homework just take notes and have tests and quizzes. I liked her as a teacher
really nice and engaging!
really nice!
I adored Dr. Rotert. She was funny, engaging, respected, and cared about her students deeply. I could tell she enjoyed teaching and is so passionate about Philosophy. She helped me understand the world and our minds and why jumping out of our comfort zone is important. She was strict but warm-hearted and a mentor, not just a professor.
This class was very fun! Professor Rotert taught very well and had funny lectures. Tests and assignments were fairly easy and the information was digestible. We did have to buy a textbook for the class and if you miss a lecture you'll need to get notes to be caught up. Overall, this class was very interesting and the professor was great!
The best professor ever
Dr. Rotert is AMAZING. She works with you and treats you as her equal, not someone who is below her. Her lectures are veery interesting and entertaining. Quizzes and exams are easy as long as you pay attention. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to take an entry level philosophy course.
Very easy, quick, and straight forward. She always replies with questions in a timely manner and the online lectures are actually very interesting compared to the other online classes I have taken. Great teacher.
Professor Rotert is amazing. She really knows how to get you thinking about a lot of interesting topics. I'd take any class possible with her in a heartbeat.
Michelle is such a good professor, for her PHL 150 class you just read a essay she writes and then you take a 5-10 question quiz every week! It's a very interesting class, everyone should take this class!
Rotert is extremely entertaining, humorous and has a skillful way of explaining materials. Her directness and ability to break down concepts in simple ways made this class one of my favorites from this semester. If you need an easy going professor and course I'd say taking this one is definitely worth it.
Best professor on campus, I took 2 of her classes! The quizzes and tests aren't too hard if you study the guide you do in class. Every lecture was fascinating and I looked forward to coming everyday. Rotert is very understanding and loves to answer questions. it was an honor to be her student.
Listen to the other reviews. Great teacher and great experience. 5/5
Genuinely one of the best professors I've ever had. She is such a genuine person to connect with; her lectures were consistently engaging, and every day I left class thinking about a topic in a way I had never done before. I believe she is retiring this year, so I just wanted anyone who searches her up again to know she was an all time great prof
An absolute phenomenal professor. It's unfortunate that she is retiring this year. None of her lectures were boring- she is soooo funny. I left every single class contemplating life and everything I know. The class itself was super easy, and the material was very intriguing. Just do the work and you'll get an easy A. She's a 5/5 professor for sure!
