Great teacher. She seemed very nurturing but the tests were a little difficult. I definetly reccommend her!

Good teacher, nurturing which is good for shy speakers. Easy, but doesn't mean she will give you an automatic A. YOu still have to do the work. Don't forget to read all the questions on tests are from the book.don't depend too much on her lectures. The book is evidence that one problem is right.

Awesome professor. She obviously loves to teach and never comes down too hard on people. Don't take advantage of her kind nature though; she may be nice but she's not a pushover. Overall, her tests were simple, her teaching techniques were effective, and she was an understanding, caring person. Oh, and she's gorgeous. Take this class.

is really nice, she tells you exactly what she wants out of you and if you do it you can get the A. she is strict on her outlines so just follow directions and you will be fine. tests are rally easy if you read the book. not hard if your willing to work. i would recommend her.

She's the best! but i dont know if she still teaches at Pierce. She gets everyone to communicate and to unite, even if you are incredibly shy, you won't be in this fun class. she is so genuine and opens up to the students. take her! such a fun class.

She is really sweet and is really supportive if you are nervous about giving speeches. She is very by the book so if you do the reading you'll get A's. Outlines for speeches are pretty strict but do able. If you have to take this class, take her because she's the perfect speech teacher. Easy A.

I was scared to take speech but this teacher just made it fun. She wasn't all that hard and there wasn't a bunch of assignments due. She was the most calm teacher I've ever had. At the end of fall 2006 she gave birth to a baby girl. I must say she was the cutest pregnant teacher.

The best teacher by far. I was terrified when it came to speeches but she makes you feel so comfortable and once you begin writing up the speeches it really is not too hard but fun!

Prof. Silver was what you call a great teacher.She was really understandable the important things were presenting your 4speeches and the exams were not difficult just study a lil and i barely did and i still passed all exams with B's so they her class youll enjoy it!

Not only is she a really nice teacher, but shes a nice person. She coaches people on how to give speeches and puts people's minds to rest before and after giving a speech. And on top of all that she is just adorable to look at.

The group activities are fun. Test are easy if you take notes or read the book or just listen. summer class was fun!

She understands that getting up in front of the class is difficult for most people. She tries to make sure that you're at ease while you're up there, and she doesn't grade the speeches too harshly. Attendance was mandatory, test were all multiple choice; very easy. Overall I'd say it would be hard to find a better speech teacher.

Professor Silver makes Speech fun, I was nervous to take speech, but once I took her she makes the classroom a peaceful place to give speeches. I had friends that took other professors for speech and hands down professor Silver is the best and nicest speech teacher. If your nervous about speech take her she will make your life much easier.

I have never had a professor as wonderful as Silver. She makes speaking in front on others as comfortable as speaking amongst your close friends. I passed speech 101 without the book, but I don't recommend it, just take good notes (there won't be a lot) and listen closely and you will pass. Silver. Foreva.

She made speech very easy and smooth as air; I failed every test and still passed with a C+! Always offers to see her in her office. Yes, she may seem tough but has the biggest heart in any professor I have had! take her, Gabrielli for Poli Sci, Follett for English, and McKeever for Soc! best schedule ever :)

She looks more excited to be in the class than any student. lol There are several speeches due in the class, so you should prepare in a timely manner. I did not try at all in her class and missed two speeches yet I somehow ended up with a B! She's awesome!!!

The tests can be hard but if you read the book, attend class to take the notes you should be fine. The book was REALLY boring and repetitive but as along as you took notes when she reviews the chapter it makes the book easier to understand. Overall she really cares about her students and wants them to succeed! The best part was mock trial!

One of the best teachers I've ever had!! She's really really sweet and very helpful. The class was pretty fun, especially the mock trial. All the questions on the exams are straight from the book so if you keep up with the reading you'll do fine. Ps shes totally deserving of her chili pepper because shes super cute

She is great! Funny and makes the subject interesting and engaging. She is so helpful- I was sick and missed a huge project and she let me make it up for all the points. Take her if you like speech, or even if you don't. She makes it easy to get up there and talk even if you're completely terrified like I was!

You have reading assignments that you can choose to do, but it is helpful doing them because you have exams on the chapters you read and go over

I put mandatory for attendance, mostly because it's more helpful than anything, plus it's not a class that's painful to go to so attending it is enjoyable and fun.

The BEST teacher that Pierce has. She is always upbeat and with that she creates a very comfortable environment even for the most nervous speaker. If you think you won't enjoy a speech class wait until you take it with Silver. You won't be able to stop public speaking!

Amazing professor! She makes argumentation fun and interesting for the whole class! The research paper is actually fun because you get to choose your own topic, and the mock trial is awesome! It's a lot of work but it pays off in the end. I'd love to take her again if she taught another class, but sadly she doesn't. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This professor is definitely the best at Pierce College. She's extremely helpful and knows you by first name basis by the second week of school. Make sure you take notes and are ready to work. Fantastic teacher! Everyone will love taking this, you learn a lot and the work load isn't too overwhelming. It can be really fun at times and she is very very sweet! Silver is an amazing teacher! Her lectures were long since it was a 3 hours class BUT they were really good. There are group projects like debates and are very fun!! I didn't do so hot on the test i usually got a c or d (only 3 test) but i did very well on my debates, speeches, and essays, and did extra credit and got an A :D

Silver makes the class very interesting and worth the while. However, its not super easy in the sense that you have to work for your grade and study for the tests. She definitely makes you feel comfortable and is very caring towards students.

She is one of the sweetest professors. She's very kind, respectful, helpful, and knowledgeable! Her exams aren't easy, though. The debates are done in groups. The mock trials are a bit intense. However, you'll walk away having learned a lot and forming new friendships! Totally recommend her over any other professor on campus!! She's really awesome

Professor Silver is one of the best professors I have ever had in my college career. She is extremely kind, answers any questions you have, and makes the material easy to understand. Her class requires Three Tests, A mock Trial, Debates, and some online lab assignments. This class is easy if you pay attention and read your textbook.

Professor Silver was great! She's so nice, very clear on what she wants, and grades fairly! I had a lot of fun in her class however, since she missed 1 day a week for the 1st month, we didn't have much time. Her tests are fair but she usues an unessessary large vocabulary on tests which make them a bit harder. I love her though! Defintly take her!

I took this class during the summer and it was INTENSE. Probably a better choice for fall or spring. Mock Trial was difficult. Debates were fun. Professor Silver is very friendly and easy to talk to. If a lot of people missed the same questions on an exam, she'd drop the questions and give a better score. Highly recommended.

This is definitely a class where you get an A or a C. There isn't really an in between but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. The tests are extremely tough but thankfully there are other assignments that can keep your grade up. The mock trials are hard work but if you do the work, you'll do great. Show up and work hard. You'll get that A!

Professor Silver was hands down the best speech teacher I have had. Her lectures are detailed to the book, and makes plenty of time to meet with students. She is punctual, understanding, and very clear with the class requirements. Focus, study and GO to class (as you should considering it is your money, right?) and you SHALL succeed.

The course consisted of 3 exams, including the final, one communication model project, and one team project at the end of the semester. Be prepared to stand in front of class a few times and group work. Exams are not difficult if you study, but she provides study guides to help you. She also gives opportunities for extra credit.

She is easily one of the nicest people I've ever met. The class had 3 tests, debates (full points if you participate in all three), and a mock trial. There were clear instructions for everything and a study guide was provided before every test. Great prof, highly recommend.

U DONT NEED BOOK!! gr8 prof. u need a webcam or laptop w camera. u have to do an intro video, 3 small videos for 1 online debate, and 1 last PSA video (all easy, dont overthink them). all the videos r less than 1 min. DO NOT TAKE THIS IN A FULL SEMESTER. its way easier in the summer

Prof Silver is great, she's clear about her expectations but is willing to work with you if you're having trouble. Lecture heavy but don't skip class too often, participation points and in class assignments make up a lot of your grade. Tests are somewhat difficult but just read the book. Pretty easy grader and the mock trial is a lot of fun.

I took Professor Silver for COMM104 online for the winter session and absolutely enjoyed her class. I had a few technical difficulties at the beginning of the course and she was very understanding and easy to reach through Canvas and email. In addition, she offered extra credit opportunities and added extra points to exams based on grade feedback.

Good class, there are assignments every once in a while maybe 2 a month for her online class and no quizzes There was a textbook needed however I went through the class without it. Passed with an A. Graded on few things so make sure to do all of em. Very relaxed class. I recommend. The har part is midterm and final, it proctored, take those serious

Very easy course with plenty of time to complete assignments. Really cares about students and will extend deadlines if it is too difficult to complete an assignment on time. Proctored tests but all of the questions were multiple choice that you could answer with common sense. If you're looking for an easy A and a kind professor, take this course!

Loved her. 3 EXTREMELY hard tests (I failed on all) but still passed with a B. She gives so much extra credit. She makes up for the tests by giving assignments worth 200pts so do the EASY assignments and you're good! Recommend this class online especially if you have stage fright. All you have to do is record and upload videos of yourself, Easy!

Took her 5-week winter course and it was EASYY! There's 3 exams that's 50 questions each (100pts) & 6 discussions (10pts)! The multiple choice exams are confusing but as long as you take detailed notes you'll do fine! Also, there's 1 debate that's set in discussion format and you submit 3 videos of your argument. Very thoughtful and gives 25pt EC!

Professor Silver is a great teacher. She is very caring and considerate to all her students as she offers feedback on every assignment given. You are graded by a few things, as there are only three exams, however, they are proctored! Other than the proctoring, ensure that you do your speeches ON TIME as procrastinating only makes it worse!

Argument and Debate! such a fun and interesting class. If you need a comm credit take her in person! She is a great lecturer and the in class debates are so much fun. I have attempted to take Professor Silver's class during the second week of college and she is very easygoing and kind the only issue I had is that she would only have office hours once a week which made it a bit more difficult for me as someone who struggles with learning but her lectures are interesting, helps with how to debate and argue better.

Prof Silver is a very nice and caring professor, anytime I had a question she would respond to my email. It was easy for me to understand her assignments and her due dates were reasonable. There are 2 exams and 1 final exam 50 multiple choice. Overall it was a good class!

The class was very enjoyable, and the professor is caring and considerate for students and any accommodations. Easy in-class quizzes if the online readings were done, and the big speeches are built up by smaller assignments and check-ins. Speeches are fun and feedback received is very helpful.

This was an online course during summer term, session A, 5 weeks instead of the standard 16 weeks. I am grateful that I took this class as 5 weeks because it would've been a drag over 16 weeks. The instructor was easy to communicate with and the assignments were simple. My only criticism is that some wording on quizzes was unclear.

If you have any questions about discussions or assignments, just let her know. She explains everything clearly and is understanding, even giving extra time when needed. I definitely recommend taking her class.

Course consisted of three proctored exams, 2-3 projects, and some discussion posts. Discussion posts were very easy. Textbook is free on the library website. Exams were a bit hard, but you make up so many points from the projects/discussions that you're nearly guaranteed an A if you just follow the instructions and deadlines.
