Amazing teacher!!! You will learn a lot. She knows her subject well, but is a tough grader. 7 quizzes, 1 Analytical Paper, 1 Poster Project and a Final. A lot of reading and memorizing. I've got an A, but worked really hard for it. If you take her expect to learn a lot, and do exactly what she asks you to do.
She loves what she does so anytime you have a question or are confused, she will make sure to clarify as best as she can; She made me feel comfortable to ask questions and participate. I truly enjoyed her class!
I love how she showed internet videos at the beginning of class so much fun.
Really nice teacher really enthusiastic about students learning history and gives not hard but easy going work to get you thinking but not stress out
She is an ok teacher in class assignments are easy. She is verry picky on the research paper which makes you to have a lot of stress ( basically she is verrryyyy stressfull) but the tests are really easy eventho i did pass no pass (which i recomand u to do that) i worked hard for this class
She is very organized and on task. She always shows videos and has different sources to help the students understand the material better. She may not be a U.S. history genius but she is very helpful and if questions are asked, she makes the most of it by trying to make it as easy to understand as possible.
there 7 quizzes through out the semester she gives a study guid for all of the quizzes in the beginning of the semester.. If you find your answers from the book and do good on the 7 quizzes and do the research paper and a poster at the end of the semester there is no way u won't pass .. Easy if you do ur work.. Her lectures are pointless tho
She is Amazing teacher!!! You will learn a lot. She knows her subject well, she incorage you to study ,she will be there for you,she gives a good feedback, but you need a lot of reading and memorizing,I worked hard. I've got an A, but worked really hard for it. If you take her expect to learn a lot, and do exactly what she asks you to do.
Amazing Professor!!! You'll learn a lot. Expect to do a lot of reading and writing. It was a fast pace class, with a lot of activity: quizzes, 8 journals, one Analytical Paper, Poster Project and group activity every time. She is a University level Professor. Take her class if you want to learn. I've worked hard for my A, & will take it again.
Taking proff. Stonis was a good choice. This class was one of the easiest and fun course i have taken. She gives you a list of question (7-9 question per week) and she test you on only 4 of them. This class will be easy if you do all of your work and study on time. However i have to say she is a tough grader on the research. Overall she is easy
Professor Stones is unique in that she provides many different ways for you to excel. You will have short answer quizzes, a term paper, poster boards, multiple choice/true false and extra credit. If you study and show up to class you should do well. She is very straight forward on what will be covered on the tests.
Professor Stonis is very nice, caring, and willing to help. Her class is extremely straight forward as she tells you exactly what she wants from you. She gives the questions to the quizzes but you have to find the answers from the readings. One paper and one poster project which is not difficult if you follow dorections! Definitely recommend!
She is good.
For history being my least favorite subject, Prof. Stonis made it very interesting and a fun 3 hour class! time passed by very quickly because we didn't just do lectures; we watched videos, and did group work related to the lesson. although she teaches well, she tends to get a bit aggressive with the class, treating it like a high school class.
Before taking History of the United States, I was told it was a bored class but I had to take it anyway because it was required. After, taking the class with professor Stonis, I realized I had the wrong perception, based on some students reviews. Believe or not, history is interesting! if you take her class you will understand and agree with me.
Whatever your learning style is you are not going to feel left out in this class as she uses powerpoint slides, music videos, handouts, interactive group discussions, social networking, games, posters, flashcards, journals, pictures, online resources to make class engaging and full of fun. One sentence to describe her work: " The art of teaching"
A word to the wise: let her check your research paper introduction before you turn it, just to make sure you are on the right path and following the guidelines. She makes herself very accessible to help you. The ones that do not get a good grade is because they didn't follow instructions or did not ask for help.
You will always know what to expect from this class, she is very clear about the requirements to pass, there are no surprises. You get the grade you work for. If you do the readings you will be fine, trust me.
Took her class in spring semester, and she is a nice person and very friendly. But she is very hard. She makes u work hard. She assigns readings, a very confusing research paper, and one project. 7 in class quizzes which she gives a study guide for the first day of the semester. Overall, She is ok, but I worked hard in her class to get a good grade
Note I have taken Professor Stonis twice! I honestly wish there were more professors like her. Her class is very organized, and you will never feel lost. She prepares you for every in class quiz as well as tests with study guides, and the book assigned is very understandable. I would recommend her class 100% (:
No homework required. Every two weeks there was a 4 question quiz, but she gives you an outline on all the quiz questions first day of class. Assigned one small paper and one big paper on a book. Small project toward the end of semester. Final was super easy and mainly based on the book. Easy class, take notes and don't get on her bad side !
Prof Stonis is an extremely bright and inclusive teacher. She uses divergent techniques to help express the material with as wide a berth as possible. Ultimately, it is up to you how to utilize this class. Basically, she gives you every opportunity to expand your knowledge as a critical thinker and your worldview. Great class. Fantastic teacher!
She is one of a kind . You can get A very easily . She gave you all test questions all you need to study the question .
Professor Stonis is a great teacher who is knowledgeable and passionate about history. I took the class in order to transfer but I ended up liking it. Attendance is mandatory and the group work allowed me to show that I knew how to think historically. You have to do the reading and study for the ICAs. I'd take a class with her again.
Professor Stonis is passionate about history and loves teaching it. She made this class so interesting. Uses music videos to start lecture. She is very organized and clear about what is expected. She gives all the questions to ICAs, you just have to do the readings. There is one primary source paper and she prepares you for the final.
Professor Stonis made a long 3 hour class enjoyable and not boring. Def recommend her to anyone wants a professor who is passionate about teaching and who talks about current events. Use the study guides for the ICAs and the final exam. The final exam is hard, but it's doable if you did all of the reading and attended class. Overall, she's awesome!
this class was very difficult & lectures were very long
Professor Stonis was absolutely great. I'll be honest, I wasn't too excited about the topic at first but right away I could tell she would make Women's History very interesting and I wasn't disappointed. Her lectures, (the entire course really) are very engaging and well thought out. I highly recommend taking her class. She is a great professor!
First of all, you have to work in groups so if you don't like that don't take this class. Lots of reading and if you miss a class good luck making up for that. Also if you have a question ask her when she's alone because she's loud and will put you in the spot, I would get embarrassed and would make me feel dumb. I wouldn't take this class again.
Very strict when it comes to grading, esp the Primary Source Paper, she can be intimidating. Group work every class, and you grade each other's quizzes (ICAs). The book and the study guide is crucial for ICAs. I enjoyed the topics and discussions, esp when applied to current events. Extra credit helps a lot, the Finals is cumulative and challenging
Extremely strict on grading. I got a D on my primary source paper & i get an A on all my essays
Do not recommend. Very strict grader & extremely lecture heavy. i had a very hard time staying up in her class i had to clip my eyes open.
Class is a mix of lecture, videos, group work, and discussion. I liked my group so it was nice to break up a long class by working together. Professor Stonis is caring, smart, and socially aware. I learned a lot about history and current events in her class. She stayed during breaks and after class to answer my questions. Highly recommend her.
I loved Mrs. Stonis's class! She makes the lectures fun and interesting. She also knows a lot about social justice issues and current events. Her class helped me to broaden my perspective of history. Group work is mandatory but I met some cool people in class this way. You can tell she's smart. I loved the videos she showed. Highly recommend!
Don't understand why she has good ratings. I did not like her teaching method and her quizzes were based on things she had not lectured about yet. Her final consists of 30 topics but what to know it completely left to you. I felt unprepared by her lack of information when it came to the final which I did well on because left up to me.
a very hard and boring class
I was worried to take a hybrid class but Professor Stonis made it enjoyable. Her passion for history made me interested. Saturday meetings were long but she kept things moving along. ID Test was hard and the papers were straightforward. Professor Stonis helped me to appreciate women's history and current topics. Highly recommend.
professor Stonis is very organized when it comes to lecture. she makes the lectures enjoyable and fun to learn. her assignments are very straightforward.
I truly Enjoyed my class with Professor Stonis, It truly challenged me, as well as made me feel like I had grown as person. She definitely wants to you work hard but is very understanding to a point. You definitely cannot take advantage of her, she is very sharp and will pick up on any attempts of cheating. so glad I took this class
Her final test was not based on her hand out totally and there were subjects you had to remember from her lectures during all semester. She just gave one extra credit activity which was not enough to boost the grade, generally not an easy A.
She takes everything too seriously which is annoying. Her classes isnt an easy A even though she gives you the quiz questions to the ICA you can Ace all of it yet not have a great grade in the class. Shes a really hard grader when it comes to the paper you will write also her final is extremely difficult. Wouldnt recommend her.
Her class prepares you to transfer and is quality in every way. The two page paper was easy and all of her grading was straightforward. Participation and extra credit for doing a history bio were really easy points. The ICAs and final were tricky, but the study guides helped. Met some good friends in class. Not boring. Relevant. Take her.
I'm not a history person but her class made me care about current issues. The lectures are inspiring. The group work was meh but that was because of my group. Do the extra credit and study for the ICAs. Hard final. Had some difficulties during the semester but Stonis helped me and showed that she cared. She's funny too. I'd take her class again.
There are 7 quizzes based on the textbook and a group project completed during class. Interesting lectures and good videos. Really like the way she teaches her class. She's passionate and keeps things moving along in a long class. You have to put in the work to get an A but she's helpful and upfront. Inspirational professor! Would take her again
not recommended. do not take a class with her. just do not.
Great professor. Straightforward quizzes with study guides. Interesting project. Lots of participation and in-class group work so come to class. Have to read (or skim LOL) the textbook for the quizzes. She cares about her students and wants us to succeed. She's very knowledgeable. Gives extra credit. She made a 3 hour class go by fast. Take her!
I loved taking women's history with Professor Stonis. You have to read and study but it's doable to ace everything from the ICAs to the group work to the beauty standards project. The paper was hard but the rough draft saved my grade. Gives extra credit. She's knowledgeable about politics, news and feminism so that kept my interest.
Final wasnt based on her handout and had things that were neither in lectures nor in the textbook or online. Most ridiculous was when she emailed everyone before the exam saying not to study one thing, and then it still was on the exam. Kindergarten style annoying group work, youll literally have to turn to somebody and say what you just learned
Her hybrid class was great and unlike others that I have taken. The weekly DQs were easy and there was lots of discussion about current events. She's so knowledgeable about everything going on and relates it to women's history. The group project was interesting and the class made me see how feminism is all around us. Cheap textbook & extra credit
Stonis is the best professor I have had at GCC. Her class is lecture heavy but they are so interesting! She's gives good feedback and her grading is based on almost weekly ICAs, a paper, a monuments project, group work and a final. Wish I could have chosen my group but my group ended up being a good one. She's helpful every step of the way.
Awesome professor!!! You'll learn a lot. It was a fast pace class, with a lot of activity: quizzes, one Analytical Paper, group presentation, and group activity every time. She is a University level Professor. Take her class if you want to learn. I've worked hard for my A, & will take it again.
Alright. Heres my onion. Too many quizzes/tests. Group work was a pain bc it was chosen via alphabetically. TOUCH GRADER. Anyway, take the class if you love history. Shes engaging and funny, and her lectures are short, but great.
Great class and learned a lot! She's an awesome teacher and knows how to run a class. It was my first time taking an online hybrid class and she made it easy to stay on top of things. Her instructions were clear and she answered questions quickly. Offered extra credit for additional work. DQs were easy. Group projects were hard but doable
Professor Stonis is great. She is very enthusiastic and willing to listen to all questions. She is very upbeat and has a very organized class. Her assignments and projects were very well explained. As long as you show up to every class, you should be able to do well.
This is a history class and reading a lot is the norm. Stonis has clear deadlines and criteria, and just following her lead will get you an A. Yes, there is quite a bit of work to be done, but it's nothing crazy. The most time I spent on this class in a week was probably three hours on a project.
Take her! Professor Stonis knows how to run an online class. She always explained everything in detail and responded to messages quickly. She was organized. The beauty project was pretty cool. Her grading was a tad strict but you'll do well if you follow directions and choose good team members. I'm not a history fan but she made it interesting.
Stonis is a smart and caring professor. I needed the class but I ended up liking it. She's inspiring and teaches history in a way I could understand. Group work, attendance and participation are mandatory. ICAs can be tricky but the study guide helped and you have to read the textbook. Easy to talk to. Taking her again next semester!
Professor Stonis is one of the best professors I've had at GCC. I'm not a history person but she made a 4 hour class fly by. She's smart and knows a lot about women's history plus she knew about issues around feminism now. She kept things moving along with videos, group work, and projects. She teaches in a way that is easy to understand.
Professor Stonis is amazing! You learn a lot and the grading is clear. The group projects were interesting and my group became a study group for our quizzes. You have to attend class and participate since it's part your grade. She was helpful in office hours and she's knowledgeable. Great prof that I'd take again for a history course.
Very engaging class. Inspirational professor and she's passionate about women's history. Interesting projects. Have to participate and work with other students. Study guides helped. Her class grading is pretty clear. Would take again.
Really good professor. Lectures are clear and entertaining. Highly organized. Energetic class with lots of discussion and that made the 3 hours go by quickly. Highly recommend.
Professor Stonis is one of the toughest professors I've had but I learned a lot and feel ready to transfer. I've taken 2 classes with her. She's smart and caring. Group work and participation are required. There's 1 big paper and many quizzes. If you participate, stay engaged, and use the study guides then you'll do well. Do the extra credit!
She really cares about her students and wants us to succeed. The topics in class are interesting and relevant to right now. Lots of quizzes and group work, but no midterm and an interesting monuments project. Any time you can email her and she's there for you. I learned things that impact my everyday life.
One of the best professors I took in GCC. The class is easy by itc concept. There are 7 quizzes that are fairly easy since they are copy pasted from the study guides. The final is all multiple choice and you are given a study guide for the final as well. DON'T BE LATE to class on quiz days because that will affect your grade significantly.
I love Professor Stonis! She's inspiring and smart. The textbook was cheap. You have to work for an A but its doable and she gives good feedback to help you. Do the extra credit. One of the best professors at GCC. Highly recommended.
excellent history professor! extremely knowledgeable about the subject. class is based on participation and group projects. the quizzes were fine and extra credit was offered. learned a lot about current events. very caring towards students. definitely recommend her.
Professor Stonis is one of the best. She makes history come alive. Not a lot of reading but attendance and participation is mandatory. Graded mostly on a primary source paper, group work, digital history project, and quizzes. She knows how to present the information in a way you can understand and keep it interesting. Take any of her classes!
Professor Stonis knows exactly what she expects of her students and lays it all out clearly from day one. Just keep up on the readings and try your best to not miss class. For the final she gives a study guide. The way that I was able to get an A was to use the topics on the study guide as a starting point, wrote down all the info, then memorize.
She's a great professor who makes class interesting. Lots of activities and working in teams. Lectures are interesting and she relates them to today's current events. Well organized and understanding. Learned a lot and she made a 3 hour class go by quickly.
The online class was challenging but all of the work had a purpose and built up to a project on body image in history. It was my first time using Canvas and she responded to emails and posts quickly when I had questions. She wants you to pass so do the work and don't miss deadlines. Tough essay grader but friendly. She's an excellent prof!
Professor Stonis is a good teacher & she's passionate about history. Started the semester struggling in my major and she inspired me to look at school a new way. She breaks it all down in a way that is easy to understand. Book is cheap and reading is a must for the quizzes. Final was doable but challenging.
Professor Stonis is really passionate and knowledgeable about women's history. Reading can be alot but have to do for ICAs. Group work is required for team work and projects. You have to participate. Lectures are really interesting and she talks about current events. Take advantage of the extra credit. Such a great teacher. I'm taking her again.
Took her online class and it did not disappoint. Stonis is an intelligent teacher who knows her stuff. Directions were clear, she's organized, and the workload was manageable. She replies emails and DQ posts quickly. I learned a lot about women in American history. She's helpful. take her
Took her last semester and I'm taking her again this semester. Professor Stonis makes the class understandable and she's super helpful. Very organized class with clear expectations. Do the study guides for the ICAs and final. Not a super hard class, but you have to put in work to get an A. Enjoyable class.
Great teacher and class. I learned a lot about US history from multiple perspectives. The free textbook was a plus and there wasn't alot of reading. Lectures and videos were super interesting. Would take her again. Highly recommend.
never
Prof. Stonis is super passionate about women's history and makes it relevant to today. Attendance and volunteering are mandatory. Group projects make the class interesting, just get on a good team. I wasn't bored at all. She goes out of her way to help you if you ask.
Professor Stonis is excellent and she really wants you to do well. I really appreciate that she replies to our posts and answers emails quickly. Caring and encouraging. I've never had a professor email to check in how I was doing with the class.
Professor Stonis uses all possible information (textbook or links online), primary or secondary sources to support her lectures in class. She encourages students' inputs in discussions or group works. Students are always guided in their learning of the subject, allowing them to perform their best if they do their part. Challenging but fun!
Professor Stonis was one of the best professors in the GCC. She is very caring and she is always available (Even late night) and respond all your questions quickly. You just need to do all the assignments and pay attention on the things that she mentioned. I had an online class with her and she was amazing. Highly recommended. Thank you professor.
Professor Stonis is one of the greatest professor In GCC. I had online class with her and I was very disoppointed at the first 2-3 sessions since we had so much homework but at the same time she was very caring, quick respond to all emails, very professional instrctor who make the course interesting for the students. She was amazing. Thank you.
If you'd rather spend 15 hours doing community service instead of studying, working, or quite frankly doing something more constructive, then, by all means, take her course. This teacher does service learning, which isn't a flexible studying option. You should know this going in because she never told us until a week after the course started.
Professor Stonis cares about her students and the history. She's one of the most interactive and knowledgeable profs I have had. She knows her stuff. I liked that she related what we learned to the news and class was never boring. The paper was tricky but doable. Highly recommend.
One of the best online classes I've taken. Her class is far from boring and repetitive. Its interactive and tied to current events. I learned a lot about women's history and feminism. Took the class as a GE and not really a history fan, but she made the class fun. Highly recommend.
Hands down the best history teacher at GCC. I have never enjoyed a history class so much. I have no words for the prof. She is simply the best. Her care, passion. and skill is reflected in her class. I appreciate her not only as a prof but a person. So much respect. BEST Hist class you will ever take. Structured and very doable if you care to get A
I LOVE PROF STONIS. She has completely changed the way I view history, and would have switched my major had I not already been so close to transferring. She truly cares about her students, gives amazing lectures, CLEAR structured grading, and gives detailed responses for all your work. She has so much passion for history, TAKE HER!!!
Amazing Professor, Great Attitude, Great Feedback. Hands down BEST teacher at Glendale College
Her class was my favorite one this semester. Her lectures are interesting and can be funny. Her reading quizzes are straightforward and you know exactly what to have prepared. In the beginning, she gave us the option of doing either 15 hrs of community service or taking a final exam. That changed after moving to online classes, sadly :(
Professor Stonis is amazing!! Best online class I've taken so far. Organized with no surprises. Quizzes and final are open book and notes. Weekly discussion questions were easy and relevant like Beyonce, Stonewall, confederate monuments and intersectionality. Lots of EC. Highly recommend!!
She's such a sweet professor. Loved everything about this class! Extra credit, organized way of teaching and interesting. Study guides helped but you have to read or at least skim. Take her and you won't be bored . U won't regret it!
Take her!! I'm not a fan of history but she made it interesting and talked about how its still happening today. Textbook is one of those free ones online. She gives study guides that are the exact questions on the tests. Highly recommend!!
Professor Stones is the sweetest! Her class is fun, engaging, and full of great content. She is fair, the workload is fair, and her exams are graded fairly as well. She has carried us through this pandemic EFFORTLESSLY. She gets back to you on time. She never lets her personal life or mood affect how she treats her students. TAKE HER CLASS!!! NOW!
Love Professor Stonis! She's an icon. I had to take the class to transfer but she made it interesting and not boring. Lectures are interesting. Quizzes are easy and 1 short paper is doable. She cares about her students passing. Take her, you won't regret it.
She is hands down my favorite professor this semester. Her class is structured very well and you know exactly what is due and when it is due. She is so inspiring and never has a boring lecture. There was one hard primary source assignment, but after that, it was smooth sailing. You always know what you need to study. Best class I ever took.
Professor Stonis knows her stuff and opened our eyes to what was happening right now. I took this class to transfer but I'm glad I did with everything going on like the pandemic and protests. Easy quizzes, one short paper that was challenging, and an easy final. Organized and tech savy. I really enjoyed this class and will recommend to everyone!
Multiple readings and discussion post for each week. Class moves very fast so make sure not to fall behind. Overall if you do all the work and readings you will get an A in the class.
Professor Stonis is a good instructor and she's passionate about what she teaches. Online textbook was free and short. Use the search tool to find answers for the reading quizzes. Weekly discussion questions and an easy final. The right workload esp. during hard times like now.
Professor Stonis is a great professor! History is not my thing but she made it interesting. She's very clear on her expectations. She's very organized and engaging. Hit a rough patch during class due to covid and she was very supportive. No midterm and easy final. As long as you pay attention and participate you'll be fine. Take her!
Sometimes history can get a bit boring, but professor Stonis always made it interesting! I learned so much from the lectures. I loved having her as a professor. The discussion and quizzes are easy as long as you watch the videos and use the free textbook.
Prof Stonis is by far the best professor at GCC. She is very sweet and funny, and reflects it in her class. Even if you aren't a history person, you'll find her lectures super interesting. Team tests/work makes up a lot of your grade. You will need to read a lot, but she only assigned one paper and grades it fairly. I'd rate her 10/5 if possible!
Professor Stonis has a real interest in what she's teaching and through her passion she'll make you care too. Writing this during covid because she has been so sweet and made it easier to go through this hard time. Super organized with the class and writes you back fast on pronto. Would highly recommend!!
Stonis gives interesting lectures and really makes you excited to learn about history. She's really into social justice, gender issues, and civil rights. Her class was super empowering and motivational. Reading quizzes were easy and she makes you understand everything by relating it to real life. Definately recommend!
Omg Professor Stonis is the best! Took her last semester and taking her again in the fall. She adds a good perspective on what is going on right now in America. Super clear and organized, sweet, and helpful. Structured class and easy quizzes. Textbook was free! As long as you pay attention you'll be fine. pretty easy class.
didn't want to take history but Professor Stonis made the class not boring. she's smart and passionate about the subject. free book and easy quizzes that she gives the questions to in advance. no midterm but there is a short paper. final was a breeze and was open book. if you have to take history take it with her. trust me.
Great class for sure. Study guides and open book made the class really easy if you do the work. Get to take the quizzes twice too. Mrs. Stonis is super sweet and encouraging.
Take her. She's a very caring professor with knowledge about women's history. The online class was pretty easy and everything was laid out at the beginning of the week so you could keep organized. Lots of discussion posts and activities but nothing too hard.
The worst clase I have ever had.
Definately recommend Professor Stonis. The work is doable and predictable every week. Grade is based on discussion board questions, open book quizzes, and project posts that are like mini-essays with pictures. She's really caring and passionate about helping us understand and you can text her. Get the book. Super easy class if you read or use index
Ended up online because of coronavirus but she set up the class so that we could finish. Super understanding and easy to get ahold of. Have to read to do the reading quizzes and discussion questions and final. No midterm but an easy final. She gives all quiz questions and study guides on the first day. Great prof!!!!!
Best professor ever!! No drama or busy work. Just do the posts and the study guides, you'll be fine. I'm not a history person but this class opened my eyes to all of the racism and unfairness in this country. She gives a lot of feedback and tips about what she is looking for. Its all about evidence and details.
Overall, really tough. I did well, I was not lazy but it took A LOT of works, and I felt she was a bit rude whenever I asked questions. The exams were ridiculously hard. I still say avoid if you want an easy A class.
Professor Stonis is knowledgable and you can tell she is passionate about teaching. Took some other online classes because of covid and hers was really easy to keep straight. Tests were easy but you have to read the textbook she assigns. Use the study guides and do the ec. She's one of the best at gcc!!
Great class with incredible material! Really enjoyed it even though it was summer and it went really fast. Buy the book early. You will need it. Awesome teacher!!!
Solid class with a solid teacher. There were a lot of discussion questions to do but it was better than writing a paper. The study guides were exactly what was on the reading quizzes. No midterm. The final was open book but it was a little trickier than expected so take study guide notes. Thanks Prof. Stonis for a good class.
she is an amazing prof and she wants you to pass. the book is required for open book tests. had a family emergency and needed help because of being exposed to covid at work and she cared enough to adjust things so i could catch up. take her!!
I was never so overworked. When you email her she takes ages to respond. Her homework is so suffocating and completely pointless. During this pandemic, she has been the least out of all of my professors that helped accommodate my needs. Don't take her!!!!!
She's a really good teacher. Class is far from boring. Participation online is a must. Textbook is free and the reading was short but all work is based on the reading. She's passionate about history. I would definitely take her class again.
Prof. Stonis is an excellent professor! Caring and wants you to succeed. Work is typical but its a lot since its an 8 week class. Easily one of the best teachers at GCC.
Stonis knows a ton about history and feminism. She was really inspiring and encouraging. Really enjoyed the class and learned alot.
Great class and only online with no Zoom! Reading got a little boring but it's history so that's to be expected. Enjoyed the prof's pronto messages and help. Seems super sweet. Got an A. Highly rec!
She's very organized and polite. There are many discussions and super easy quizzes. Quizzes and the final have study guides that give the exact questions. Extra credit is given. Easy A if you do all the work. I definitely learned a lot in this class. Take the class but don't miss any due dates.
Prof Stonis is literally the best. She is very clear about what she wants and if you just follow the directions youre good to go. Take this class you wont regret it!!!
TAKEEEEE HER YOU WON'T REGRET IT. I love her!!!! She's very clear with her class! There's many discussion posts and like a few quizzes but nothing to hard. The textbook is free. Study the study guide because IT HELPS ALOT!!!!!!!
Take her, don't hesitate you will be amazed how much you learned with her in an online course she is incredible caring and awesome person I wish I had a chance to meet in person however she replies you asap after receiving e-mail.
One of my favorite classes in GCC. Clear instructions on all assignments, clear rubric and feedback on submitted work. Make sure you read and follow the class syllabus at the beginning of the class. I liked the online format, but low key I wish I took her class with lecture. Professor is super caring and supportive, take her class!
we're all online now because of covid and professor stonis is the best teacher i've had so far online. her class is clear and all based on the textbook. there's no zoom so that was cool. the textbook was free but it was long. i liked that she texted us alot on pronto and tried to cheer us up. i hate history but this was doable
I recommend taking her!!! She explained the material very clear and involved many different forms of learning. From discussions, to quizzes, everything was clear and good. Vary caring prof who always answered my questions and helped me even if it was late at night.
Professor Stonis asked for honest feedback and what can I say but that she is great. Dont change a thing. I don't like online classes but she is organized and tells you exactly what she is looking for to get a good grade. Videos and podcasts were good ones. She was always sending us reminders so I never forgot an assignment. I am taking her again!
Professor Stonis is super helpful and nice. She cares if you pass and does everything she can to help you do your best. Literally she's the GOAT!!!!! Take her!!!
look its history so keep your expectations low but professor stonis makes it doable. it didn't suck and I got my units. she really helps to keep you organized and knows what she wants. its predictable. other profs kept adding stuff all the time but stonis didn't. do the extra credit because some questions are tricky. she's cool
I took this class over winter and it was really good and the grading wasn't hard. Professor Stonis was really clear and organized and passionate about women's history. The class has a reasonable amount of work and lots of extra credit so I am taking her again this semester.
appreciate that prof stonis didn't make us turn our cameras on and had a lot of chances for us to get back lost points. liked the teams and she was cool when I emailed. class didn't suck and she is good
Took her in the Winter and it was a good class. She is really smart and knowledgeable about women's history. As a woman I enjoyed learning about women in history and how to be active now in everything going on. Super easy class if you do the reading and do the work.
Take her! One of the best classes I've taken at GCC! She is always trying to grow as a teacher and person. I learned so much and felt like she cared about us during this pandemic. It was her first time teaching the scholars, but she did great. She could have graded slightly faster, but she made up for it with her cheerful attitude and extra credit.
Usually 2 Discussions and sometimes quizzes here and there. Mostly due on Fridays or Sundays. Discussion Questions can involve watching videos and or reading and then answering a prompt. Quizzes are based off study guide. Do the DQs and answer study guide before quiz and all is swell :) and shes cool if you actually attend her class, but not needed
Very bad professor. Never take her!
Very good teaching style. This class changed how I see everything. We would talk about everything from war to body hair in one class session and she'd tie it all together. Professor Stonis is super caring and inspiring. Very helpful and knowledgeable too.
This class is normal and no surprises. Really liked that the prof sent reminders and gave extensions, that really helped. The textbook was free and the stuff we did for class was pretty interesting like talk about racism or workers strikes, like stuff that still happens now. She's pretty nice and drops knowledge so she's cool. Taking her again
One of the best at GCC! Good class, understandable work, manageable workload, lots of extra credit for events and super caring. Trust me it's not boring and getting an A is super possible.
I loved having Professor Stonis. This class changed my view on women's history and being a woman. She's very sweet and always had some extra knowledge to share with us about things happening now. She was so enthusiastic about it all. Going to miss this one. I highly recommend her!
She is an amazing person, as a strong and person who accomplished a lot in her life she really cares about her students and besides history, you can get a lot of high-level life experience. Class may seem a little bit hard but I really very proud of knowing her.
Great professor who expects the best from you. Clear grading & extra credit offered. Keep up with the readings! GET READY TO WORK. Biggest tip: go above her minimum requirement for discussions to get the full grade, if you do the minimum she will dock off points. Time consuming class, but if you plan out your assignments you'll be fine. Easy final.
An amazing class! Got an A and that was pretty easy by just doing more than she asked and doing all the extra credit she offered. The events I attended were actually pretty fun. Mrs. Stonis made all the assignments interesting and fun. Lots of quizzes and a beauty standards project and one short paper but no midterm and no final.
Professor Stonis' class was great. The workload was manageable with open book reading quizzes, one essay, and a lot of easy discussion questions. We used Pronto and she always checked in on us like sending us memes and jokes. Great class!!!
followed the reviews here and met her online today. loved her energy and she kept us all awake. her cat is cute too! can't say anything yet about the work but shes already way better than some of my other teachers who were super dry and boring.
One of my favorite classes so far at GCC! Super smart and caring prof who doesn't stress you out more than needed. Super understanding and kind. Not boring and you can tell she loves what she does. Take her!
Professor Stonis is excellent! She always takes time to explain things and give you extensions if you need it. Excellent class. One of the good ones at GCC.
Professor Stonis is super passionate about history and you can tell she really likes her job. The work in this class felt light during hard weeks like midterms. Reading is a must but the book is shorter. I used to hate history but this class made the best of it to get this ge out of the way. Oh and her cat is super cute!
Professor Stonis is an amazing choice for any history class. She is very caring and understanding of her students needs. The workload is very manageable. The class was made up of one discussion a week, 6 quizzes total, a final exam, and two assignments. Everything was easy, and you truly learn a lot in this course. Be sure to take it with Stonis!
Great class and great teacher. Both classes I've taken with Professor Stonis have been interesting and the amount of work was manageable. She's super understanding and kind especially since she knows we are in a pandemic.
discussions are going to be the bulk of our grade, but they're graded so weirdly. she grades based on the sentence count of a discussion, even if the discussion topic isn't complex. you need 10+ sentences over the minimum for an A. its a bunch of busywork; i write my post and then i spend 10 minutes to write over the minimum
She's one of the good ones for sure. Professor Stonis gave lots of extra credit online and gave us extensions without losing points. One of the most understanding teachers I've had the entire pandemic. The textbook was free and her reminders helped me stay on track. Super organized and super chill. Glad I took her for a ge
loved this class and this professor. it was a lot of writing but i liked that it wasn't long boring essays or exams. the clips were super relevant and short. i feel like i became more aware of what is going on out there and also learned about why it is that way. open book and open note everything. class focus is on critical thinking
Professor Stonis is really caring and tries to make the class fair. She is passionate about social justice and always lets us ask questions about current events. Textbook is free and work is on the easier side. Just don't slack and not check in on Mondays when she posts the module. Pronto was pretty cool too because I could always reach her.
Easily one of the best Professors I have taken in 2 years at GCC. You learn so much from her course & she is so easy going. What makes her class special & unique is the incredible feedback she provides on each assignment. Her communication is top notch & she knows History. Take her course w/out a doubt - this is what learning should be all about!
Prof Stonis gives this class interesting topics to study. You will learn quite a lot about women's history, however if you don't like to read and write, forget it. This class has a lot of writing and she grades them based on the paragraph. The more paragraphs the better. Get ready to read and watch videos. The class is not easy A but it's doable.
Great and easy professor. The exams were open exams for our course. We mostly worked at our table for groups and she is very understanding if you talk to her about your needs. The class is very educational and outgoing. Definitely take her again.
Professor Stonis is one of the most understanding professors I've had at GCC! She showed empathy and checked in with us to make sure everything was okay. It wasn't just about the work. There is a lot of writing in the class but it's not so bad and the projects were pretty chill. It's not an easy A but it's doable. This class was a solid GE.
(I took 117 and 118)Hands down best history professor whether you like history or just taking for credit. She makes lectures interesting and fun while your still learning. No matter what your trying to do you'll walk away having learned about things of real value.
Im typically the type of person that doesn't enjoy history but professor Stonis made it fun to learn. She is also very caring and cares about the well being of her students. if you miss a class session theres a syllabus on what chapters she goes over. she also uses videos which is nice for visual learners. Definitely recommend to take her class!
She grades based on the sentences in your essay, more sentences better points. How ridiculous is this? Get ready to watch videoes and write essays. She wont teach you anything.
Super understanding and lets you turn in work late when life comes at you sideways. She's smart and knowledgable about women's history. The sentence part isn't a big deal bc its like a word count or page count. Just use the terms she does in the dqs and always give examples from history. Got an A and it wasn't hard
One of the best and most understanding professors I've had. She is very caring and helpful with work. Overall the class was interesting. Take her, zero regrets.
This Professor was by far one of the best Professor's I have ever taken a class with. She is very kind, caring, patient, and enthusiastic. Her homework and projects have very clear instructions, and she is a very reasonable grader. Her tests are multiple questions and with some studying anyone will be able to ace the tests. You wont regret it!
loved her class. took it over the summer. only got a B+ because i forgot to do 2 assignments lol. she gives great feedback for every essay. i got a 200/200 on the project and final. those were super easy, but you need to make sure you have sources and write with perfect grammar and use the right punctuation.
Very passionate professor and super smooth class. No surprises and no tests. Her class grading is pretty clear. Pretty much it was all discussion based and short essays but everything is open book so that helped. Make sure to put effort into analysis and citing. I am not a history person but Professor Stonis made me interested in it.
I had Professor Stonis for history 111 and 118. Her teaching style keeps you awake and its not boring. No tests so we did open book reading quizzes, an essay and a project both times. Really like that she encourages students to work together and make teams so I got to know some people at gcc. Getting an A was doable.
Professor Stonis is a good history teacher and reasonable. I have never had a professor switch up assignments after we said it was too much. She is a student so she gets it. History is boring sometimes but she makes it interesting.
Overall she is a great teacher. Super easy assignments. Just make sure to always give her examples and cited some facts from the texts to back up what you say. Work can be late with her grace period but not tests. Really fair and nice prof. Take her to knock out a ge and not tank your grade.
Don't take her class! She is rude. She doesn't know how to teach and grade. I don't know where from she got these high ratings because she didn't deserve them. After her history class you will hate studying process.
Easy class with good organization and she answers your messages on Pronto fast. History isn't my favorite but this class made it doable. Free textbook and letting us do late work was a plus
i just want to say that professor stonis IS THE BEST PROFESSOR OF ALL TIME. i want to retake her for another history class because she is very interested in teaching her students the subject. i love that she gives good feedback, and encourages her students to do well in class. everyone, take her for history! u won't regret it!!! :D
Professor Stonis is honestly amazing coming from a history major. Her lectures are filled with information and she's very active in the class. She will help you with any problems during her office hours whether it be not understanding the information or material. The work she gives is very minimal and I'm excited for her History 118 class!
Always superrrrrr passive-aggressive.VERY Tough grader.Unclear/odd directions of assignments. Will not let you make up any work. Miss one assignment you will not be able to raise your grade back to an A. Pretty much no EC.Will learn nothing. Not sure why she has such high reviews and this is coming from a student with a 4.0.
Professor Stonis was originally on top of grading and then she would stop grading for weeks. The quiz and final was open book so you can search up the topic of the question in the book. She has stated that to get full credit you need to do more than what the directions say.
Professor Stonis is awesome!! Open book tests and final were super helpful bc it took the pressure off. Lectures were informative and she is super passionate about history. Appreciated the free textbook and extra credit. 6 quizzes, 3 discussions, a project and a final. Take the project seriously and go to class to work on it. Take her!!
Prof. Stonis is a great friendly professor and the class was easier than I expected for college. The quizzes and discussions were easy if you had the free book. The project was long and had a lot of parts but it was super interesting and I am glad we could make a recording instead of present in person.Taking her for Women's history next. Easy A.
One of the best at GCC! The work was simple and a lot of it was based on our reading or lectures. No surprises!! The research project took a lot of time but she gave us classtime to do it. Wish I could take another class with her but I am an engineering major and don't need it. Only bummer of the class was all the immature freshmen in fye.
Stonis is in touch with students and you can tell she really cares about you. I was going through some bad mental health stuff and she was really lenient and supported me so that I didn't have to drop.Class lectures, videos and project was really interesting. Quiz answers are online. Finally a history class that wasn't boring!
First time taking Michelle's class and it was my favorite at GCC so far. Suppeerrr organized and easy to reach.....even late at night! Free textbook was cool and all of the work was posted on Monday for the entire week. No Zoom. Easy grading bc she tells you exactly what she wants. I am most grateful for the prof being flexible. Take her!!!!!!!!
A pretty okay teacher! Work is relatively easy, just make sure you meet deadlines! Tough on phone usage or chatting in class, but when you participate and pay attention things go smooth. Although attendance Isn't mandatory, you definitely need to come (lectures are Important). For my neurodivergent friends, I recommend recording her lectures
Professor Stonis is a fantastic professor! She responds to emails/ questions in pronto very fast. Her winter course consists of quizzes and reading/ discussion assignments weekly. The final was an essay. I 100% recommend anyone to take any of her courses! Do the work, follow the instructions, and you get an A.
Professor Stonis was AMAZING!! I took her winter course and it was very doable. Just follow the directions and put effort in the work. It was about 2 assignments and 1 quiz per week. The final was not a test, it was an assignment. She is very understanding and super flexible. If you can, take her class. You won't regret it!!
Professor Stonis is one of the best at GCC. She's incredibly passionate about History and it shows through her fun assignments that engage you with the subject beyond reading the book. She is super supportive and always ready to help through Pronto. I'm not the biggest history fan, but she made me really enjoy this class. I highly recommend her! :)
Took American Women's History with Professor Stonis and really learned a lot! The videos were really interesting and the discussion assignments were easy if you referenced the book. Lots of extra credit and she'll work with you if you need help or an extension. She is creative, passionate, and super kind to her students. Highly recommend her.
Professor Stonis is the most SLAY teacher at gcc. I took History 118 Honors and this is the easiest class I've ever had. She is extremely enthusiastic, provides TONS of extra credit, and always will help even during non office hours on Pronto. Very down-to-Earth, funny, easy going and most importantly, professional. TAKE HER CLASS, TRUST
literally my favorite teacher by far at gcc! took her for an honors class and it went by a breeze. lots of extra credit opportunities, open note/book tests, and overall a pretty slaying class. definitely taking her again for another class ! love ya stonis
I LOVED this class! 11 out of 10! She really cares about her students and it shows. Not only can she make History interesting, she is an amazing lecturer and really funny! It made my classmates and I enjoy class. She was AMAZING and gave so many extra credit chances. Hands down, the best professor at GCC! You will NOT regret taking this class!!!
Literally had the best time in this class. Just the right amount of reading and tons of extra credit. Professor Stonis is caring and obviously wants you to succeed. She is always available on Pronto even if it's not her office hours. She helped me with some transfer and life stuff too. Easily one of the best at GCC.
She is the best and I regret not taking an in person class with her. I took the 8 week online class. Her class is easy and fun at the same time.1 easy midterm 1 easy final, interesting discussion posts. Always available outside and gives 24 hour grace period for discussions. and she gives extra credit!! She is an angel very kind and understanding!!!
This is the class to take to get this ge course done with. She won't let you fall behind and she is always sending reminders. There is a midterm, final, a project about civil war monuments and lots of extra credit. Participation is graded in class so attend and take notes. Super flexible and made the class not boring. Take her, trust me.
Professor Stonis is a really great teacher. Go to class since she lectures and does class discussions that count toward your 20% participation grade. Take good notes because they will come in handy for the open note midterm and final. Do the several extra credit chances that are actually pretty cool events on campus. I'm taking her again this fall.
Solid, fun lecturer with lots of interesting resources and content. Not the average US History class, cares a lot less about memorization and a lot more about comprehension and skill-building. It does consist of a few assignments worth a lot of points so you have to do the work. Be friendly and go to office hours, definitely gets you a leg-up.
Professor Stonis is passionate about history and makes the class fly by. The class consists of 2 tests, participation, and a project you do for a month. Her lectures are entertaining and take good notes so you can use them on the tests. She takes a real interest in her students and talks a lot about mental health. I'd take her again.
This is probably one of the most passionate and caring professors I have ever had. You can tell she is passionate about history and likes her job. The reading was really light (free textbook!!!!!). The project was time consuming af but ask for her help during classtime and she'll guide you. Got an A myself that way. Would highly recommend!
Great professor. As someone who likes history, I enjoyed the class and her ability to keep it interesting.
I'm finally getting around to posting this since she's been sharing the gross comments she's been getting on here. I had her class a few years ago and loved it. She's a stellar professor. I wasn't a history major but I had to take her class and she made it fun. Got an A. Keep your head up professora
Her lectures are interesting even if you don't like history. Lots of discussions and videos to go along with lectures, 2 tests, and a project. Easiest gen ed class I've taken so far. She understands that we have other classes and doesn't assign busy work since she's a student too. Really sweet if you go to her office hours. Overall, I liked her.
Professor Stonis is great. She is very accommodating and very nice. Her assignments are clear and if you have questions, she gets back to you quickly. Her assignments are not extremely hard and she provides all the information you will need for her sizes and assignments. She also provides a study guide which helps tremendously.
Super easy class and great teacher. The book she uses is free. Very understanding and nice.
This professor always thinks that the submitted work is written by AI while the work was my original one. I do not know what websites she uses but she always ruins grades because of such ineffective websites. So, if you do not want to be stressed, just not to take this class.
She can ruin the grade in one minute just because she believes that the tools that she uses to track AI involvement are reliable. She does not know that there is no tool in this world to know whether the work is AI-generated or not. As a result, my original works were labeled as AI-generated. Do yourself a favor and do not take her classes.
Professor Stonis is one of the best at GCC. Everything is open book open note with study guides. You can text her on this app anytime and she gets back to you pretty quick. If you do the reading and follow the directions it would be hard to fail. Super kind and talks a lot about mental health.
She's a great professor. Loved her class so much that I'm taking another with her next semester. The lecture pop quizzes made me stress but they're easy if you pay attention to the lecture that day. Lots of extra credit and help if you need it. Participation is graded so coming to class is a must. Don't underestimate the project!!! Nice prof.
Stonis is one of the most caring professors I've had at GCC. She is super knowledgeable about women's history. The online class is super organized and straightforward. It's a lot of reading and a few podcasts but the work is manageable. No tests, 1 big project, and weekly dropbox assignments. Great class.
Professor Stonis's class is enjoyable if you like history or want to learn by interacting with others. A lot of group work and discussion in this class but it makes the time go by fast. She's not a hard grader. Midterm and final are open book and you can work with classmates on it. She's very knowledgeable and passionate about history.
Never take her! She can affect your overall in one minute. I received A at first and then it became C.
I am not a big history person but this class made it enjoyable. Professor Stonis is energetic and not boring. Quizzes and tests were pretty easy. We sit in groups and work together sometimes to pick good people to sit by. Start early on the project. Good class.
To say that this class was organized and on the easy side is an understatement. All of the work, including projects and tests, are open book. She's easy to reach by texting. Super caring with mom vibes. I didn't have issues with AI but some students did so I always checked my work like she said to on copyleaks and cited everything!
Professor Stonis is the best of the best. She presents history in a way that is actually interesting. The tests are exactly what is on the study guides. Do the extra credit. Participation is graded so coming to class is required. If you study and show up and contribute then you'll be fine. The textbook is free.
I'm not a huge fan of history but I learned a lot. You definitely have to put in a lot of work for assignments and in-class participation if you want an A. Easy to reach since she uses Pronto to be in contact with her students and super casual during office hours. Utilize extra credit assignments when you can.
I enjoyed the class. The setup was easy to figure out and not a mess like some of my other online classes. Didnt give too much work but it was the right amount for the time we had. I recommend her.
One of my favorite professors at GCC. Prof Stonis is extremely passionate about what she does, and a helpful prof all around. Lectures are informative and relate strongly to quizzes, assignments, and projects. The most difficult part of the class is the project, but the grading criteria are clear and she explains the details of the project clearly
Professor Stonis is very helpful and kind. She expects a lot, but gives good feedback on how to raise your grade. Great instructor!
Her class is good if you're just there for transferring. Prof Stonis made the summer school class manageable and was reachable when I needed help. It is mostly discussions and short answers. The videos and reading she posts are required so don't slack on those or you'll lose points for being vague.
Easy and organized. The best professor if you want to learn.
Professor Stonis made summer school doable. She worked with me so I could catch up and pass the class. Taking her again. Great teacher. One of the best at GCC.
Professor understands what its like to be a student because she is one so her workload is doable and fair. Responds quickly. Lots of extra credit. She's high energy and not boring. Great class
This was a great class and Professor Stonis always brought her energy to the subject. Attendance is mandatory in a way since there are 5 pop quizzes on the lecture. The textbook was free. Lots of extra credit. As a stem major I wasn't interested in taking a history class but now I am glad I did because I see how everything is connected.
Professor Stonis' HIS111 class is a manageable and engaging history course. The open-book format and group work make it enjoyable, even for non-history fans. Unstuck ai was a big help for studying and prepping for the exams. Overall, a solid class with a caring, knowledgeable professor.
Professor Stonis is really helpful and nice. She gives extensions on assignments and makes sure that you understand the material. Super easy online class if you keep up with the reading and provide lots of evidence for all of your discussion questions.
Caring, kind, graceful professor who is genuinely rooting for each of her students. The material is made to be even more interesting as it has you connect to your own life. The class is very organized and manageable. Professor Stonis is so supportive and always there for her students. She is also very intelligent. Definitely take this course!
Overall great professor and easy course. Very interactive class where she encourages us to think for ourselves and we get to talk it out with our groups. Definitely a thinking class, but there is no pressure on the exams since they are open notes. Pop quizzes suck but just pay attention during lecture.
Some professors extend due dates, but Michelle took us to the tutoring center and met with everyone who was struggling with the project then gave us extra time to do it better. I didn't learn any of this in high school but I finally am. The textbook is short and free. You will learn but it isn't the worst or painful. Take her.
Professor Stonis is energetic and animated. She keeps the class interesting. The tests are not hard at all. The project was a lot but nothing else in the class what too hard. Make sure to take notes since you can use them on your tests. One of the best professors at GCC. Solid GE class.
Excellent professor and easy class. She expects a lot of you but helps you get there. I appreciated the late work policy and extra credit chances. History is pretty boring but she made it interesting. Great class.
This is a super chill class with easy quizzes and open-note tests. The project is a huge part of your grade, so don't slack like I did and wait until the last minute. Best history teacher ever.
Professor Stonis is truly the best. She really cares about you learning the material and seeing how it is still relevant in our own times. As long as you show up to class, you shouldn't have a problem passing. She does group testing, but individual quizzing, which is based on what you learned the day it's given. The only "hard" thing is a project.
The lectures were entertaining and engaging. We had several (5) pop quizzes, a big project, a midterm, and a final. Midterm and final were online, open book, open note, group… whatever. The project is no joke and is a big part of your grade but if you do the work (don't cheat) you'll be fine. I would take her again.
Great prof and reasonable grader. Class reading is light. No tests or quizzes. The discussions and project were the right amount of hard. I learned alot about feminism and women's rights that I didn't know before. She's super sweet and gives extensions. One of the best professors I've had so far in college.
Very passionate and organized professor who really cares about students. Great class.
As a 4.0 student, I'm concerned for my grade. She is unnecessarily critical of your writing; unreasonable, disorganized and demands that her instructions are followed to a tea. Ironically, her entire syllabus is incorrect and doesn't match the modules. There is no need to take her course especially if you're taking it for a GE class. Save yourself.
Awesome professor!! She is the reason I started taking an interest in history. A friend told me to take her for an easy GE online ! I highly recommend
I took this as a shorter class and it was very easy to navigate. Assignments are simple and follow the same pattern every week so there are no surprises. The reading was light. The textbook even had an audio feature so I listened to it instead of reading. Sweet teacher. Highly recommend for an easy online GE if you don't mind writing.
Great class and professor. There are a ton of short essays in this class so be prepared to write about everything. The beauty project was pretty interesting and make sure to ask her about your topic because she gave me a lot of hints. This class was easy but it took a lot of time.
Professor Stonis is so nice! She is always open to answering questions if confused and won't make you feel dumb about it. One thing she doesn't mess around with is talking and being on your phone, she'll simply ask you to leave class. Has random pop quizzes, and you need to pay attention to notes even if its not on the slideshow or on the board.
Not a good professor at all. Will give you a 0 without even looking at your submitted work. Don't take her class.
She is sweet but the lectures were tough. After the lecture she randomly says “we are taking quizzes” and you can be not prepared at all.
She really cares about us students and wants us to do well. Easy online assignments but it is a ton of short writing essays and projects like padlets. Not boring history. Easy A!
She's kind and very easy to reach out to, but her directions are always short and vague. Wished she would put more effort into longer and clearer instructions for assignments. She will always give a word count, but don't expect an A if you're only doing the bare minimum. She wants you to succeed and is very sweet though.
Professor Stonis had a great summer class with the right amount of work. Super lenient and let us redo assignments instead of a final exam. She's so kind and always answers messages late at night. Taking a fall class with her because I got an A and iykyk
PART 1:Professor Stonis's class was overall easy. I took her history 111 class during the fall as an 8 week class. There was one essay due every week. Everything was based off of the textbooks. The class itself was not interesting and i felt like i didn't learn anything. She is understanding about late work. But that's not even the bad part.
Uses an online "textbook" that is riddled with structural and grammatical errors, but the information and assignments are explained well and easy enough to understand. I enjoyed the class overall but she is a bit of a tough grader, and you will be writing a lot. Especially if you take notes while reading like I do. TONS of work on that front.
Professor Stonis is one of the best I've had. The modules are interesting and organized. If you keep up with the readings and videos, you'll be fine. She gives extra credit and a free textbook. Doable A.
She was an amazing professor. Her lectures are great. No big tests but easy pop quizzes based on the day's lecture. Mainly group work and alot of talking. Is a pretty lenient professor that is more than willing to help out and will give you an extension on an assignment if need be. Really cares about her students. Definitely Recommend!
Prof. Stonis is an amazing and caring teacher! I totally do recommend taking one of her classes. I got a A plus in this class because of doing all of the extra credits she has given us and by getting one hundred percents on all of the pop quizzes. All of the pop quizzes are open note and is only about the lecture of that day. Very easy class.
