Wonderful Professor. I am at St. Joe's now and minoring in Psychology and majoring in Child Study. I constantly refer back to his notes to understand the professors at St. Joe's. Professor Rooney's notes are easier to understand. Thank you. Professor

I took him over th summer sesson his class was easy and a lot of fun I found myself laughing in every class I had of his. He made me stay awake and I learned a lot! He's great take him if you can!

Prof Rooney is the greatest! He makes his lectures interesting and relevant and will have you looking forward to his classes! No assignments except extra credit, just 4 tests (multiple choice-easy) and the lowest of the first 3 is dropped. Take his class!

I loved his teaching method. Although the class is a lot of note taking, if you study your notes, his tests are word for word, and you';; get an A.

I enjoyed this course immensely and would take any other course that this Professor teaches. He is very animated and bring the dull subject matter to life to make it very interesting. Take his course, you wont be sorry.

Great Teacher, makes all of his students laugh. Doen't make fun of anyone, except himself. Really gets the learnig material across.

Took his honors class last semester. Got an A. he is great! I took tons of notes but the test are mutliple choice with bonus essays. He is well liked because he is a regular guy, you have to like him, he's just so nice. Loves his job and his family. We need more like him!!!

Mr Rooney is the nicest guy you'll ever meet and the coolest professor. His questions from his quizzes are straight word for word from the notes he gives in class. He doesnt try 2 make the tests harder for you..as long as you take notes n look over them youll have an A for the class.

He covers a lot of material and tests can be extensive. Also, the research paper is intense. However, if you do your work, the class is enjoyable. Tells jokes and relates material to stories and real-life. Material is interesting even if you dont pursue a Psych career, A ton of extra credit.

I would highly recommend taking him for any class. He is the sweetest man on the planet. He makes the class interesting. Gives a lot of notes, and a term paper (but u have allllll semester to do it) but tests are easy as long as you go to class and pay attention. I never studied but got an A in the class.

Rooney is VERY nice...he's really easily distracted, so I would not suggest taking the class with a friend, because if you do something to draw his attention and derail his lecture, he gets really pissed. But, besides that, he's great. There are even extra credit assignments that saved my butt.

Really is a a "Prince of a Guy." Ask him anything and he'll be like "Well, Freud in 1912..." I now do better on Jeopardy. Do your term paper on time, and pay attention. And do the extra credit if you can. I got a B+ on the final grade because I handed my term paper in late. You must hand it in! Take this class, but don't be me!

He is an amazing teacher. He keeps the class interesting and fun. There are four test, and he gives you the notes which is actually what is on the test. There is also 4 extra credit assignments and 2 required assignments. All 6 though are counted as extra credit. If you pay attention and take notes, you'll get an easy A.

Rooney is amazing. Be prepared this is a college class, you have to work. More importantly you will learn, you will want to learn. Rooney made an 8 AM class actually worth getting out of bed for, and that is saying a lot. His teaching style is great, energetic, caring, funny, and very smart. Has tons of information to share. Prince of a guy!!

Pay attention and you will do well. He responds well to questions and will make you laugh. I learned quite a lot in this class.

He is a wonderful teacher, especially if you are interested in psychology. If you aren't, he still makes it interesting and everything is extremely clear. No homeworks, just a few readings. Can use index cards for the tests for each reading. Very fair grader, tests are fair but can be a bit confusing. Not bad overall. TAKE HIM- You won't regret it!

AWSOME TEACHER...... does NOT use the textbook AT ALL, he's a very good professor, he's funny. All his tests come right from his lectures. He gives extra credits. I gotta 104 average. Tests are kind of difficult. probably 7 on the difficulty scale from 1-10 (10=hardest)you really have to study hard for this class. he has a great personality, though and an infectious enthusiasm for the subject, and is very willing to help students succeed. gives sufficient amount of extra credit and more than enough time to complete them.

You would be dumb to take this class with anyone else. He's a great Prof. you can really understand the material without even looking at the text book just study your notes and you will get an A.

Basically you have to attend every class if you miss it your screwed on that section of the test...I?m not a very good test taker but I did all the extra credits plus the two required assignments and got a B..hes really funny and makes psychology really fun to learn.. Rooney is by far the best professor I have had so far at SCCC. He is extremely helpful. He has such a great passion for what he does, and truly cares about his students. Tests are easy and written in the same manner of which he speaks. There's honestly no real use of the textbook, just read over your notes, and you're garunteed success!

Professor Rooney is the man. took 101 with him at 8AM and wow he's such an awesome teacher and an all around nice guy. The class consisted of 2 required assignments with 3 articles in each assignment and 4 exams(all mult. choice), he also gave 5 extra credit assignments. Perhaps the greatest guy I've ever known. Even if you don't have to take Psychology, you should ONLY to sit in a classroom with this man for an hour and a half for 4 months! I got into Prof. Rooney's class due to sheer luck. His courses fill up extremely quickly because he is an AMAZING INSTRUCTOR! He knows his field like the back of his hand. His lectures are interesting and though he lectures for the duration of the class, time flies. You have to do your work but as he would say, "we're in college now!"

He is a great professor in that he makes the classes very interesting. He gives great examples to what hes teaching in class from past experiences. He's a very nice man and everyone who meets him loves him. Although his tests are hard if you study you will pass with an A.

He's kind of annoying to be honest. I would take him again but it drove me crazy to hear him repeat the same stories over and over again. He also seems a little egotistical which is ironic since we've talked about this behavior in class hah. Oh well, some professors will just never get over themselves. Aside from the annoyingness, take him.

he was an amazing professor...he made the notes really clear but you needosohup class for th4 notes because the notes will never be in the text book. he gave us over 100 points of extra credit which helped. the only thing i thought was not needed was microanalyses your writing.

I took Professor Rooney on my first semester at Suffolk, back then i had no clue what i wanted to do. He is the reason why my major is Psychology! he made me fall in love with the subject because of his passion for it, he is an excellent professor who trutly knows what he is talking about.Take clear notes and study them and you will get an A!

In the beginning I thought he was going to be the hardest teacher ever. Now, not only do I think he's the easiest teacher ever, but I think he's the best teacher ever. Just do what he says and you will have no problems in his class. He is very helpful in all aspects. I recommend him highly. I consider him to be an idol.

The greatest professor I have ever had. This was my 2nd time taking PSY101, and it was a whole other class w/. He won't just give you an A -you have to earn it. But with the level of interest he creates it won't be difficult to earn it. I HIGHLY recommend taking his classes. I never go out of my way to rate professors, but I just had to this time.

Every single test Professor Rooney gives is taken word for word from his notes. Do not miss class, because he will not give you notes, as he lectures completely from memory!Also, do yourself a favor and when he gives a long speech on not using extra spaces between paragraphs on papers, LISTEN! I lost 10 points on an excellent paper due to this.

Take his class. His tests come straight from his lectures so never miss a class. Very easy going and follow his instructions on how to write the required paper.

The best professor I have had in my 10 years of college I wish I needed more psy classes! His lectures are so interesting I didn't want to miss them. My only regret is that I took him during the summer because I would rather listen to his lectures for a full semester and get some of the less interesting classes out of the way in the 5 week session.

I had Professor Rooney for intro and social psych. Best professor I've ever had. I wasn't a psych major before taking his class. He is the single reason I was capable of getting into UNC Chapel Hill (wouldn't have even applied if he didn't tell me to) and I'll honestly remember his classes for the rest of my life.

I really miss this professor. Attending SCCC was obviously not my ideal plan, but he made it worth it. Tests are in his words, don't miss class! Journals are easy, just summarize and give your response. Follow his format. Easy A with a good-hearted person who cares about the students he's sending out in the world. Take him!!!

All you need is the notes he presents in class, EASY A.

He is an amazing teacher. Everything he says is memorized word for word and he never makes a mistake. His lectures are enjoyable but not repeatable. Make sure to take notes and study. His tests repeat questions very often for consistency and have a 5 point bonus. He has one mandatory paper using articles from a book; Use the correct formatting!

Prince of a guy and a hell of a dancer! stick to the notes he gives you in class, and you will pass the tests. Must study for tests though. He makes it seem like he is a hard grader, but he actually grades research papers very fairly. Best professor in suffolk.

Comes off really stern and harsh but is such a great guy. Tests are all notes, very very fair- mostly vocab. I loved that he walked us through the term paper, but make sure you do it!! Overall, such a great man. Highly recommend, and he's also a great dancer!!

Really good Prof. He teaches like a page turner. Keeps you interested. Tests are from the notes. He got a sense of humor thats a little hard to understand. He really honest about what he is looking for and if you give him that you get the "A" you want. Would love to take him for another class.

Seriously a great teacher I love him as a professor wish he taught more classes he is very stern and honest and a hell of a dancer and he is all notes reading the textbook would help but it's not necessary his big essay is so easy and his extra credit papers are the same as the big paper just follow his format for it it's crucial for a good grade

Knows exactly what he's talking about. Everything he teaches comes from his head and he never gets tripped up. Don't buy the textbook, only the Annual Editions book. Each extra credit gives an entire point on your grade. Easy tests, 1 homework. Although he says he doesn't talk about himself much, he gets carried away sometimes.

I had Prof. Rooney for Psych. 101, and he is probably the best professor that anyone will ever have. He's been teaching Psych. at Suffolk for over 30 years! His lectures literally come right from his head because he has memorized everything. Also, DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK because you will never use it. Get the Annual Editions from the library!

Honestly sweetest guy ever. All you have to do is show up for class take the notes and study them for the test. One paper which is just describing 4 short articles. Do the extra credit it's worth it, even though you prob won't need it. Rooney was a breathe of fresh air and made the class easy. Would definitely take him again.

I absolutely love this teacher! He is funny and loves when you laugh at his jokes. You should show up to class everyday considering he writes down all the things you will need to know for the test. Wish I could take him again! 4 tests and one paper, he also gives you 5 different extra credit assignments!

I am a psychology major and Rooney is one of the people who showed me that I really do love this subject. His class is hard and you have to take notes. His notes are the key to the test. The papers are not hard if you do them in advance and follow his advice . He also is big on extra credit. Do the work and you will get an A.

His tests come straight from his lectures, which are the definitions from the text books, verbatim. Even if you are vaguely familiar with each term, you will do fine on the tests. But don't take that for granted because there are some similar terms which may be easy to confuse. Easy extra credit opps, don't miss them. Shoot for the stars.

Mick is the single-best professor I have had. I would suggest him to anyone, even if they are not interested in Psych. He is truly amazing, his experience and professionalism in his field transcend everything I could have expected out of his class. Take Mick before you leave Suffolk, words cannot do this man justice.

If you don't take his class, you're missing out. If you don't plan on going to class people are in line for a seat to listen to this man lecture so do us all a favor and move out of the way.

Take him!!! He is an amazing speaker and always keeps his students interested. I was never bored during any of his lectures and he teaches so many life lessons. He gives you assignments far in advance and provides many extra credit assignments. Studying is VITAL to a passing grade. I would definitely take professor him again.

SUCH a great professor. gives extra credit opportunities - DO THEM. no use of textbooks... make sure you take notes - word for word on tests. *only tests you on lecture notes which he amazingly has memorized.

By far one of the greatest professors i've ever had. I would take his class again. I look forward to going to class. He has been a professor for so long and i can see why. Just do what he asks and he will love you as you will love him. He also is really amazing for the fact he has his lectures memorized. he's also hilarious lol

Professor Rooney is a pure genius. He knows exactly what he is talking about and his lectures are always interesting and relatable. I would take him again and again if I could. Best social psychology professor hands down. I highly recommend him !

Great professor, Taking his Social Psych class next semester as my area of concentration. He changed my view of Psychology. Made it interesting, hes personable. Take ALL HIS ADVICE. Do the papers early and study. got a 100 average in his class because of it. Take his classes. OH and just get the articles textbook NOT the reading textbook.

Simply put, If you're going to take Psychology at Suffolk, Rooney is THE teacher. He doesn't even have notes.. He just walks in and recites quotes, statistics and dates from his vast knowledge of the field.. Amazing teacher! My only regret is that I was only with him for 5 weeks over the summer. The class is easy, only because of how clear he is.

Best professor I have ever had. Such a cool & VERY smart guy with great stories. He knows the material like the back of his hand. He does not teach out of a textbook which I personally think makes learning easier. His tests are exactly what he teaches, so study, do extra credit & its an easy A!!! Very funny professor. He loves it when his students laugh at his sometimes corny jokes. Notes are straight forward, be ready to write what he says. Assigns one required essay. He is extremely strict about it, don't joke around about it. Follow his outline exactly as is. Easy to fail it, but just as easy to get 100. Tests are straight from notes.

He's such an amazing professor. Just show up to every class and take notes. Don't buy the textbook, buy the annual editions book. Tests are based off of class notes and straightfoward. He gives one big paper but just follow the guidelines and you'll get a 100. Definitely recommend him to EVERYONE.

Professor Rooney is one of the greatest teachers I've ever had. If you show up, take notes, and put a little effort into studying those notes, the class will be very enjoyable. He is also a terrific dancer.

His lectures are incredible. I've learned a great amount in this class and it was certainly one of the best courses I've ever taken. He is very helpful, clear, and is incredibly interesting. Paying attention in class is no problem; he is incredibly interesting, tells stories that connect to the subject to enhance the lecture, and is quite funny too

Excellent professor! He knows what he's talking about and gives you very thorough notes so make sure you take them! Yes he is strict with essays but he shows you how to write a proper essay, so honestly no one on here should be complaining about how he's unfair. It's college. He even gives you extra credit so this class was an easy A

Professor Rooney makes psychology really come to life. With anecdotes about certain philosophies and practices he truly made my semester better. It is rare to come upon a professor that really changes the way you perceive things, but I believe that Professor Rooney's teachings extend beyond the classroom and THAT is the mark of a great professor.

Great class, always kept me interested. Expects students to participate, work hard and it's an easy A. Took social psych after psych 101 with him just because he is that great of a professor and mentor.

You need to take notes and pay attenion while he lectures but he makes that all easy to do because of his humor and clearity. Tests are taken from the notes he writes on the board. Do all the extra credit he offers and follow his instructions for essay format because he takes off a lot of points if you fail to. Seriously the sweetest man on Earth!

Prof Rooney is one of the best professors I've ever had. It's a lot of writing because the whole class is basically him giving you definitions and concepts you'll need for tests, but if you're paying attention and taking notes then you'll do great. He explains things very clearly. Comes off as a hard ass but he is truly great. Definitely recommend!

Prof Rooney was the best Professor I have ever had! I ended up with a 102 in his class due to the extra credit he offers! If you want a professor who is passionate about what he loves, fair and commuted TAKE HIM! I Rec him to everyone! Don't buy the textbook and take good notes! All tests are based off notes!

Hes great! Make sure you do the extra credit assignments he assigns they will definitely help you pass! Hes an amazing professor and helps you better understand psychology.

One of the smartest people I have ever met. Well respected, very helpful, lectures to the point. Will tell you everything on his tests. Assigns one paper, read 4 articles, 12pg minimum, 2pg per article, very easy, MUST HAND IN OR WILL FAIL CLASS. Very funny , loves The Beatles, & kind. Will definitely take again given the chance. Better professor I had this semester. His lectures are just him talking but he is very well educated in his subject, doesn't even need notes. He keeps things interesting through humor and stories. Rooney is a prince of a guy! He's a wealth of knowledge and wants so much for all of his students to not only succeed in his class, but to succeed in life. He was encouraging, always fair, and gave excellent feedback. He expects proper grammar in his papers and to be treated with respect in his class (cell phones off and away). A true gift to SCCC!

Took his class twice.. He is an amazing professor, be prepared to take a lot of notes and be organized. He's a fair grader and wants his students to do well, 10/10 recommend. Show up, do your work, not only will you do well you'll retain everything you learn.

Prof Rooney is a great man and a even better teacher. He offers a lot of Extra Credit and everything he tests on is from his notes on the board. Pay attention but he's retiring. Happy retirement professor rooney!!!

Hand's down one of the best professors I have yet to come across. The first few days seem overwhelming with his strict criteria for writing essays, but as long as you follow his directions you will pass. It's a shame he is retiring at the end of the fall semester (2016).

I took him for Intro and now currently in Social Psych. I am absolutely blown away by this man. Every lecture is an absolute masterpiece. He makes everything he talks about interesting and gives great examples of the theories in class. I have nothing but good things to say about Rooney. Sad to see him retire. Rooney for president!!!

Prof. Rooney was awesome. I took him last semester and it was a great experience. I was 44 years old, and he spent any extra time with me I needed. Let him get to know you, it will go a long way. PS - he can't dance, but mention the Beatles, and you'll be on his good side right away.
