She makes the class very interesting and is always eager and ready to go. She is always willing to help whenever needed. I highly recommend this instructor!
Her class is very easy...too easy, in fact. If you're serious about studying Religion, don't take this class. If you want an easy A with a breezy overview of the world's major religions...go for it. She presented some major overgeneralizations as facts
GREAT TEACHER! Very open minded. Test were tough but if you attend class shouldn't be a problem. If you are interested in World religions take her!!
Tests are fine, just study her notes and read the text for more clarity. she holds reviews for the tests and gives out study guides. not boring. there are a lot of films though. you have to read 2 books for the class but they aren't long. i recommend.
She is a nice lady but her tests are very tricky so make sure that you attend class.
She's a very good teacher, she likes class discussion, and she makes class really interesting. Her tests aren't horrible, and i totally recommend her!
She is a great instructor. However, if you don't do the reading or go to the reviews you may not do well on the exams.
Just a weird lady. She doesnt proclaim it or anything but its obvious she is very liberal, or at least it was around election time. The class isnt that hard, but she is kind of hard to listen to. Not terrible if you dont mind putting out a little effort.
Great instructor; learned how to be very objective. Definitely recommended for this course.
I really enjoyed Micki's class. She had a really fun spirit about her, she enjoyed teaching the class thoroughly, which is super important in a good teacher. I always looked forward to her class and it was at 8:00 in the morning folks!!! Definitely a winner!
I absolutely loved Micki! She's very compassionate about what she teaches and really cares about her students. If I was an undecided major I would have, without a doubt, changed my major to religious studies. She's great, take her!
If you are conservative don't take this class. She mixes religion and politics. She bashes Bush A LOT, but she really has no evidence supporting her arguments. Though we shouldn't be talking about politics in the first place.
Dr. Pulleyking is one of the best teacher's I've ever had! She makes a freshmen level class seem really interesting and pertinent. I really enjoy her perspective on life, religion, etc. Take her, she's awesome!
Don't take this class in the morning... she is way too energetic and happy. Overall, her liberal views were annoying, and she tells you exactly what she believes... in an indirect way. I would take someone else.
She is a very energetic person. Her tests are very hard because they are tricky. She "indirectly" tells you what she really thinks about the subjects she is teaching. At times, she makes certain people feel unconfortable, depending on what religion or culture she's talking abou. If she doesn't like it, she'll show it. This class not recommended.
this class is awesome.i didn't think i would like her in the beginning but at the end i loved her lectures and the material in the class. and she cares about the students a lot.she would do anything to help you to succeed.you gotta try in this class and you can't slack off.is not an easy class but its a good experience*she is not a bashingbush!lol!
She blamed President Bush for Hurricane Katrina. Enough said.
the class is very hard, the multiple choice questions are very tricky. she always sneaks in her opinion somehow. i dont reccomend her.
Micki is one of my favorite teachers ever at SMS! She is very enthusiastic about the subject and the lectures are not boring. She looks at the issues objectively and tries to be fair to all different beliefs. I really learned a lot in this class.
Very interesting. Really cares about her students and what they take away from the class. Objective and encourages questioning things for yourself. Great class discussions. Not a lot of homework, and tests come from the notes and lectures from class. My favorite professior so far.
She is an awesome teacher. Everything was very clear for her tests and she loves discussion. Take this class!
One of the best classes I've ever had. It was fascinating, and there was so much wonderful discussion. There was a mid-term and a final, but she gave us the essay questions to study -- the test was still hard though! We also had to write seven, 2-page reflection papers, & then we did a big paper and presentation. Overall, wonderful teacher & class.
She made the class seem like it would be easier than it was on the first day, and I didn't study as much as I should have, but that was my own fault. And I got a B without studying.
She was a good teacher. She made you think. The class was intresting even though she had her favorites in the class. Maybe it was just me but some of her tests seemed hard. When you get to Test 3, the test over "When Bad Things Happen To Good People" be sure to STUDY!! Attendence is taking everyday.
She was pretty scatter brained and didn't really make clear during class what would be on the tests.
the BEST class and professor ive ever had! take this class! she is fantastic! this class definetly sparked an interest in me.... i would reccomend this class to anyone who wants to understand the world better. i thought the tests were almost too easy.....
She is a good teacher and presented the information in a very objective fashion. She presented some ideas that challenged my pre-conceived ideas about people.
Micki is one of the best teachers I've had. Her tests are easy & the day before she tells you everything to study. Lectures are very clear. She is very laid back, loves to tell stories, & laugh. She is willing to help her students at any time of the day. If you go to class & take notes, you will have no problem getting at least a B in the class.
This class was amazing!! She made everything interesting and she really made you think. It was all very relevant to life. I’ve never learned more in any other class! The tests are mostly lecture based, so take good notes and you'll be fine. Watch out for the New York Times test questions, though. They can be tricky.
Dr. Pulleyking is a really good teacher, I just seriously lost major interest in this class. It got really mundane reading several articles for every classtime, having student-led discussions where no one talked and sitting through student presentations every single classtime. I kinda feel like it wasted my time and money. If you need 370, take her
Great class. very easy if you pay attention and take good notes. not much reading
do not take....her test are very hard. Have to be there for every lecture...even if you are and take notes the whole time the test are still very difficult. Grades are based on TEST only!!!
Dr. Pulleyking's class is extremely interesting. she incorporates real life experiences into the teachings and it makes it fun. she laughs a lot at herself. the night class is long! we have a 10 minute break in the middle of it and then we are back on track. the test are everything in the notes. she is very helpful outside of class, too.
Im not religious whatsoever, but i love this class. She doesnt push anything on you and she opens up your eyes about what is going on in the world. She knows stuff i have never heard of. This is my favorite class and the only one i look forward to going to!
Show up to class everyday, write down what she puts on the chalk board. Watch her videos, and you will do great.
Probably the most difficult 100 class I have ever seen. Asks way too much for such a low level course. Extra credit is a lot of work for hardly any points, it's ridiculous. The extra amount of books asked to read are unnecessary and expensive. Try to find a different humanities course if you can.
Dr. Pulleyking is AWESOME! She really knows what she's talking about! Lots of stories that tie into the class discussion. She has a more liberal view on things (which doesn't bother me), but if you are easily offended, be cautious! I recommend her!
Her class is pretty entertaining, even early in the morning. She tells a lot of good stories to relate the material to real life. Only offers 5 points of extra credit per semester, but it doesn't matter since the class isn't that hard. And she really knows her stuff.
I can't believe she takes attendence, yet doesn't show up for 6-7 classes. That's not being a good example. Tests are difficult but not impossible. Notes are taken slow one day, then rushed through the next. She has bad planning skills. Extra credit is menial for the work asked, 5 points for 2 pages of writing, not good. I'm a bit disappointed.
She is a polite lady, smart and seems to really care about her students. Show up, take notes and read the two short books she has assigned. This isn't a hard course.
Dr. Pulleyking really knew her stuff. This was one of my favorite classes. She's a little goofy but that can be good or bad depending on your taste.
She is a great teacher! Very entertaining. I loved her class. The tests require studying, but are not too difficult. highly recommended.
A really great teacher! She is fair and knowledgable. Would love to be able to take more of her classes.
This is an awesome class. She really knows her stuff. I am currently a senior, but if I had taken this class my fresman year I probably would have majored in rel. She is very inspiring. Not hard at all.
Don't take this class for a elective!!! This class requires WAY too much attention for being 100 level. She is unorganized, teaches slow one day then rushes the next. Tests are EXTREMELY difficult and I'm a B average student. Don't take this course but if you must attend everyday and write everything that is on the board and that she say down.
Dr. Pulleyking was an amazing teacher. She was not difficult at all. She does take attendance and you have to be there to get the notes, but everything on the test is basically from her notes on the board or what she says. I suggest reading the book she assigns because one whole test is over it but the others are easy just read your notes!
great teacher. Well informed.
Dr. Pulleyking is a wonderful teacher! I have never been interested in religion but not i am! I had her at 8 am and I only missed once because I wanted to go everyday! she makes the class very interesting! Definatly one of the best professors I have ever had, I would highly reccomend her!
Excellent Professor!
Fantastic professor! She is very knowledgeable and fun. She is easy to understand and if you don't just ask! She is very willing to help. The tests are easy as long as you study the notes! Do write down everything she says! This was my favorite class this semester and I would love to take another class with her!!
What a wonderful teacher. It amazed me every class period how much she knew about the subject. Tests are difficult unless you know ALL the notes. You should even write down all of the examples she uses. Be prepared to write, but be prepared for interesting discussions, too. I'm taking another REL class because I enjoyed hers so much.
very helpful, but takes test questions from things that she may have only said once. listen carefully!
She is awesome! Show up to class, take good notes, and work hard like any other college course. Trust me, the work in this class is well worth it. It's not a breeze, but it shouldn't be. But she is very interesting, fun, passionate, and personal. You just need to show up, pull your own weight, and study well. She is one of my best professors ever.
I loved Dr. Pulleyking, and she made going to class so much fun. She obviously is very passionate about her subject, and she ties in current events to every class. Be sure to do the reading, and you'll be fine.
Be sure to take lots of notes, do all of the reading, and study for tests. She makes class fun, no matter how early.
Have to study for tests and quizzes. Overall a very good professor. Asks alot of thought provoking questions.
Have to study for tests and quizzes. Overall a very good professor. Asks alot of thought provoking questions. Not a lot of writing assignments. Final was all multiple course questions and so are most of her tests.
Knowledgable professor, though she definitely chooses her favorites. However, this course is nothing like any 100-level course I've ever taken. It's very indepth, there is a mountain of material to memorize and understand. It's nothing like what I expected. Her opinion of certain religions manages to bleed into her teaching. Not for the sensitive.
Overall, she's alright. She does pick favorites, though. And she can be a little subjective in some of her lessons. She makes you think, but take notes, read, and study and you'll do ok.
I loved Dr. Pulleyking! She makes class extremely fun and she always has interesting stories. I always look forward to attending her class. It's not an easy class, but it's not really difficult. Study all you're notes and the reading and you'll do fine.
She is a great teacher and makes the class very interesting. SHe actually makes you think about your life and how this relates to it. The only bad thing is the massive amount of information in this class, far too much for a 100 level course! Due to the amount of information it made this class harder than my 200 level courses that I'm taking.
Dr. Pulleyking is amazing! This course was incredibly thought-provoking and exciting. She is a wonderful woman who has a true passion for what she does! I recommend REL100 for anyone interested. If you pay attention, take notes, and go to class this should be an easy A for you!
Dr. Pulleyking is a nice lady and she will push you to think in ways you never have. Can be challenging at times but overall you will do fine if you put in the effort. She loves discussion so be willing to talk if you want her to notice you at all. She definitely favors the opinionated people but overall I'm glad I took her class.
Really interesting and I always leave class thinking
Dr. Pulleyking is a fabulous teacher. She is sharp, funny and passionate about her students (once we went out to eat and talked religion and school). She will do anything she can to help you and I highly recommend her class. But be prepared to work.
My favorite teacher I've had at MSU. I actually enjoy coming to class because she makes lectures so interesting. There's quite a bit of outside reading and other out of class work, but tests aren't too hard as long as you go to class.
Her tests are tedious and based on her opinion. She uses great books and then ruins them by her interpretation. This class is not taught like a 100 level class. She is very one sided.
I loved Dr. Pulleyking because she made me love coming to class. Her lectures are very interesting, but the tests can be a bit challenging. Overall, if you read the books she assigns you - you will do great.
a great teacher, helpful, clear, knows exactly what she's talking about. she is also very unbiased in a subject where it is hard to teach without your own beliefs/opinions getting in the way
She comes off as really judgmental to people of the Christian faith who rely on God for guidance. As someone who thinks no rel should be discriminated against, she unsettles me.
She knows her material. Her study guides are WAY too broad.
Easily one of the best professors I've had. In this class, I learned not only about the concept of Religion, but I learned many lifelong lessons and what it means to live. Dr. Pulleyking makes the class interesting and engaging and I would definitely take another one of her classes if I had the opportunity!!
Expects you to have a New York Times subscription; questions over certain articles are on the tests. Doesn't do any more than mention the books in class, though they are on the tests. Tries to keep things interesting though.
Found her lectures really interesting, she is definitely one of my favorite professors. Her tests aren't bad, just have to read your notes. She doesn't use blackboard or powerpoints you just have to write down what she says. Overall I really enjoyed this class
The entire whiteboard that stretched across the room was completely filled every day. You have to write down EVERYTHING she writes to have a chance. Story teller, talks about her family all the time. Never knew anyone to use the word "exceedingly" more than her. Do ALL the reading!
She is Amazing. Makes you want to show up to class each day. Tests are easy because it is so interesting you can accualy pay attention. Really good, take her!
AWESOME! She is so helpful and easy to understand. She makes you want to come to class and her tests are all straight from the notes or reading. Occassionally cancels class. Super nice and funny!
Does not use Power Point slideshows, but instead writes everything on the board. Be prepared to take notes, including the many stories she tells in class. Very helpful outside of class, always willing to answer emails and phone calls. Her tests are relatively easy, just study the lecture notes and listen carefully in class. Interesting lady!
Really great class and I would recommend it to anyone! Before this class i had no interest in religion, yet everyday she made me want to come back. Her stories are very interesting and she is willing to help anyone who puts forth the effort. Does do plus/minus grading.
She is an amazing teacher. You'll learn a lot, and the class is really interesting. Make sure you take really good notes--this includes any examples she gives. Pretty much anything she says you should write down.
Loved this class and this teacher. She is super nice and makes class very interesting. There is a lot of outside reading you have to do, but as long as you do it you should be good. Tests aren't too hard as long as you do the reading and take excellent notes.
One of the most respectable professors I have ever had. She is very passionate about the class and teaches you everything you need to know about the class and also life lessons as well. I would recommend her class to anyone. Reading the book is required but she gives you a reasonable amount each day.
She is so interesting to listen to. She teaches from experience which makes the class more interesting, but a little confusing. You have to take DETAILED notes and do all the readings. The tests aren't hard if you do all the assignments and take good notes.
Learned a lot
Micki is by far my favorite teacher at MSU. She genuinely wants to help her students, and create a personal relationship. You'll take a lot of notes, which isn't hard since she tells you exactly what to write. Study them, and you'll do well on the tests. Read all the books. They are on the test, and are usually interesting. Try to take her class.
I thought she did a wonderful job of teaching such a broad topic. She covered all the things I was wanting to know and did it in such a friendly, helpful manner. I'd definitely recommend her.
Wonderful professor who got me interested in the liberal arts. Read all the book assignments. Take notes on all she says. Don't be quick to write down what's on the board. Tells a lot of stories, but one of my favorites. Great professor for intro to religion. Her expertise is more on philosophy of religion.
Lots of reading (but good) for a 100 level. You get exposed to many things like theodicy, ethics, various meanings of "religion," approaches to studying religion, and introductions to the world religions. She will note injustices in systems and let the student deal with that as s/he may. Her opinions are scattered throughout, but not oppressive.
I have never done a review before, but this teacher was well worth it. This is by far the most interesting class I have taken! Go to class, take notes (including her stories), do the reading, and you will take away so much more than just 3 hours toward your Gen Eds. This class will help you with all majors!TAKE HER!!
She is amazing and inspirational. She takes a non biased approach to many religions. Notes are crucial to pass. attendance is crucial as well, but with the way she teaches you wouldn't want to skip.
I wasn't expecting to like my religion class all that much, but because of this class I'm now a religious studies minor. Dr. Pulleyking is very kind and concerned with her student's well being. Her beliefs are occasionally apparent, not just about religion, but also politics, etc. Assigns you to read 3 novels, but the 2nd and 3rd are great.
Absolutely loved this class. I have no intention of becoming a religion major, but I loved the content. Pulleyking is a great teacher who gives in depth interesting lectures that make you want to listen. She puts a lot of lecture notes on the test, so I wouldn't recommend skipping the class. The books that you read are very thought provoking.
If you expect a good grade don't take this class. She graduated from Harvard - so she makes it feel like Harvard. She showed up late, rambles, and even told me that I took bad notes. Then expects you to read 4 books on top of all your other classes. This class was more difficult than a 100 level course should be.
This lady is the best professor around. I loved her and her class. This class made me decide to minor in religion. She cares so much for her students. The only unfortunate thing is I only missed 28 points in the entire class and got a B. Her class isn't hard really there just aren't many points you can afford to miss.
Hardest class I've taken. Hardest tests I've taken. On the other hand, she is a great teacher with a great interest in this subject. Expect to read 4 chapter books along with parts of a textbook. DO THE READING. Her lectures are interesting but you must write down everything she says if you want to get a good grade.
Best class ever! Now on my I suffering and meaning rel class
This class will change your life. You won't realize it at the time but in the end you will get it.
She was an alright teacher. She stepped on some toes sometimes but other than that the class was fine. Tests were easy. Go to class and you'll pass with an A.
I absolutely loved Pulleyking. She was very inspirational and it became my favorite class, she helped me gain so much perspective. She wants you to read a lot and definitely do! Her classes are interesting but I find that the tests have kinda tricky questions, so you really should know the material. Would definitely take again!
Pulleyking's class is my favorite i have taken so far. She is such an interesting teacher and I love her vibe. Just know that she puts a lot of thought into what she says and notes are a must have. If you take good notes, you will have your test answers word for word. No guesswork-ever.
Dr. Pulleyking is so loving and such an amazing professor. She is so intelligent and caring about student's grades. Her tests are tough, especially if you skip class and don't read the text book and the novels you read in class. The class makes you think outside the box and she makes you get out of your comfort zone. Really pay attention in letures
Great class to gain insight of different theologies from well known philosophers. The class was interesting and thoughtful, but does require individual responsibility. You must pay attention to the syllabus on your own and keep track of all the reading assignments and projects. She grades tough so make sure you study study study.
Very good speaker. There is a workload, beware. If reading actual books, studying outside material, and coming to class and making an effort are not your thing stay away. She loves her job, and her kids, and her stories. She likes to have deep conversation. She can go on tangents, however. If you have any interest in religious philosophy this is 4u
Inspirational, thought-provoking, & deep- yet sensitive. This class will make you think about everything with a fresh perspective and explore the hard questions we all secretly ask ourselves. Whether you are religious or not she is very respectful. She is incredibly intelligent, kind, and personable. Loves her students and will always listen. 10/10
Pulleyking is an amazing woman and instructor. She is very passionate about her teachings and really makes an effort to help each and every student. Because of her, I am now either going to major or minor in Religious Studies. Also, I am taking REL 347 with her next semester as well. I would definitely recommend taking one of her classes!!
Dr. Pulleyking is an amazing and inspirational professor. She is culturally competent and demonstrates it in her lectures. She turns the class into a discussion which makes it very interesting, but don't worry, you don't have to join if you don't want to;) "Education is the road to Emancipation"- Micki Pulleyking
Very inspirational. This class is the reason why I chose to pick up Religious Studies as a second major coinciding with Psychology. Overall a great person, whom I plan to take many more courses from.
Amazing teacher, she's big into explaining through stories.
Tests are so hard! If you're not a good test taker like me do not take her
Dr. Pulleyking is probably my favorite teacher that I've ever had. She's very passionate about her field and it shows. She keeps you engaged throughout class and I always wished her lectures could be longer. I've become a religious studies minor because of her class.
Dr. P was great to have in REL 100, but wasn't on top of her game for this course. Students were left to teach the class with little input from her. She lectured a few times and that was it. She expected you to do your own research to prepare for tests and you were expected to know exact quotes from the reading with no guidance from her.
She was super interesting and a very good teacher, just for an elective class the test were very hard. I would not suggest this class if you are looking for a easy elective.
Dr. Pulleyking was an awesome professor all around! She is passionate about what she teaches and that interest spreads to her students. Also, the workload was very reasonable. I am definitely going to take more of her classes in the future.
Hard tests, however she is a professor that is a "must take" if going to Missouri State. Just pay attention to everything she says and you will do fine.
Religion 100 was a fairly easy class if you showed up in class and studied for the tests. There are a total of around 300 points in the class so it's hard to get an A if you fail a test but there are study sessions before every test. 10 bonus points. The class was super interesting and allowed me to get the basics of each religion.
Even if you aren't a religious studies major you'll love this class. If you show up and take notes you'll pass the class. If you want to get an A you'll have to do the readings, but it isn't a huge amount of reading. Plus she offers a lot of extra credit. Pulleyking has a great sense of humor and truly cares about her students. Would take again!!
Honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had. You can tell how passionate she is about what she is teaching (which really rubs off on you). You have to read 2/3 of the books entirely but they are worth reading. When Bad Things Happen to Good People was life changing. Really respect her and 100% would take that class again. Study for the tests!!!
Dr Pulleyking is a great teacher! She is fun and such an inspiring teacher. REL101 was harder than I thought, but she makes it worth it. She cares about your education and helps with anything you need. Definitely a "must take" teacher!
Dr. Pulleyking is a very well-traveled woman who has a lot to say. Her tests are relatively difficult and does not offer much extra credit. I learned a lot from this class. Be prepared to read several books along with the textbook. If you even miss one lecture, you will miss a lot of vital information.
Dr. Pulleyking is one of my favorite professors I have had. I learned so much in this class that I use in my everyday life, but if you're looking for an easy class, this is not it. She makes you work hard to get an A. The tests are difficult, but her lectures are entertaining and informational. You just have to study a lot and do the extra credit.
Pulleyking is amazing! She is very kind and helpful. I have had some difficulty with getting to class on time, and she has been nothing but understanding and helpful.
EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE THIS CLASS! It's literally so life changing. It may not be the easiest A, but you will learn so much. Pulleyking is so captivating and easy to listen to!
She is such a nice lady, truly cares about the subject and is always willing to meet up and talk outside of class. BUT, you have to show up to pass. Info on the tests comes directly out of her mouth during lectures. Great lady and interesting class.
She is very easy to work with. I saw her several times in her office hours! The tests can be difficult, you really really have to read the textbooks and take good notes! She doesn't send the powerpoints out or post them to blackboard so really pay attention in class!
The tests are split up into two sections. Lecture notes and book materials. She will not go over anything over book material, so make sure you read the assigned reading because the questions that she chooses are VERY SPECIFIC! However, in class she does take questions, but her exams are rarely pushed back, so make sure the questions relate!
BEST PROFESSOR! Don't get me wrong, religion is definitely not an easy elective. You WILL have to work for it, show up to most if not all classes, take good notes, and read outside of class. However, she makes it worth it. She is very understanding and caring. She is truly passionate about what she does and it shows. It was my favorite class!
Amazing person and teacher. The material is so interesting and valuable but not easy whatsoever. Also lots of reading. She puts specific examples she says in class on the tests, so come to class. The tests are not easy.
I've never had to read so much for a class. Also, if you're like me and prefer specific expectations on papers, presentations, and tests, you will NOT enjoy the way Dr. Pulleyking presents and explains these assignments. I'm a thorough student, so I felt that I was doing my best to meet her unknown criteria, but there's a TON of guesswork.
She is my favorite professor ever!!! If you get a chance to take a class with her, do it. However, it is NOT an easy A class. She doesn't upload the powerpoints, so be prepared to take A LOT of notes! BUT--it is worth it. She's amazing! She provides good study guides for tests as well study sessions w the GA's! No midterm, final is comprehensive.
Whole class only has 310 points, 265 of which are tests. Almost no extra credit either. Tests are multiple choice but difficult. She's a great woman and good at teaching, but makes this class unnecessarily difficult for a 100 level course. I have a college 4.0 after 42 hours and her class was a STRUGGLE. I recommend taking someone else.
She is an amazing person and makes sure you get all the content. You just have to make sure you go to class to get all the content.
Dr. Pulleyking covers a ton of content, but her passion for the subject and teaching in general makes the classes feel short. You have to take notes on everything she says and study hard to pass exams, but the expectations are clear.
At the beginning of the semester I really liked this professor her lectures were very interesting however she wanted you to write down and memorize every word of the lecture along with a ridiculous amount of outside reading along with a textbook. Her tests were oddly specific questions and no matter how hard I studied I couldn't get above a C.
I LOVED Dr. Pulleyking. She is such an intelligent and interesting woman. That being said, you have to show up to class and take notes, and the tests are difficult. The material is very engaging, and she will answer any question. I truly enjoyed learning from her.
Dr. Pulleyking is really engaging... but the course work is ridiculous for a 100 class. There are about 200 pgs of readings per unit (this is including dry textbook readings) which she draws questions from for the test. The test questions are quite challenging and are essentially the only points in the class. Very informative class if you can pass.
I took Religion 100 and agree with the comment that Professor Pulleyking requires too much out of the students that take this class, 100 is supposed to be the begginer class for any subject and the amount of information that you are required to retain for tests is enormous. It is very hard to get above a C in this class, but I enjoyed her lectures
Dr. Pulleyking is an exceptional lady that not only cares so much for what she does, but also cares so much about you as a person. Her ultimate goal isn't for you to have straight A's but for you to get something important out of her class that can impact your life in ways to help you get through it. She is an amazing professor!
The class I had her for isn't her usual class so I don't know what she would be like teaching her actual subject but from the class I had with her she's extremely nice and you can tell she's one of those teachers who actually cares about her students.
Dr. Pulleyking is by far the best professor Ive had. She really cares about her students, and she is very passionate about what she does. She definitely makes you work for your grade. If you pay attention in class, you shouldnt spend a lot of time studying outside of class. If she offers extra credit, take advantage of it!!
I had Dr. Pulleyking for GEP and whoever made that happen should be ashamed. She has no idea how to teach freshmen about college. She didn't tell us any valuable information. She had her student teacher do most of the work, and she had the students present book chapters. She lectured on philosophy and other useless info... couldn't have been worse.
Very easy to stay engaged during her lectures, which is vital to your success in this course. Dr. Pulleyking is passionate about her field of study and does her best to inspire that same passion in her students. Do the readings and everything she assigns and you will have no issues.
Micki Pulleyking is a great and knowledgeable woman and her lectures are very engaging. However I have never had to read soooo much. Even if you read, good luck passing. Ive never struggled so much with an intro course its insane. The tests are crazy specific and hard to pass and thats basically all the class is. Good luck
Dr. Pulleyking is a hidden gem of MSU. She is beyond passionate about what she is teaching and the students she is teaching to. This is a class you WILL have to study for but as long as you show up and take notes you are covered. 110% would recommend taking her for any religion class that you can.
Dr. Pulleyking is such a knowledgeable, compassionate, and open-minded professor. I had this class via Zoom for most of the semester and it worked out so well. And I struggle a lot with online learning but Dr. PK definitely made it manageable. She welcomes questions and conversations. She is an amazing professor and this is a great gen ed :)
This class was one of the most interesting classes I have taken. I would recommend Micki because she is such a kind soul. There are some extra credit opportunities throughout the semester, but a cap of how many you can use. Her exams are around 50 pts each, and the assignments are around 5-10 each. It's really cool to learn about other religions.
Dr. Pulleyking is a great professor. She cares greatly about her students and the material. Attendance is essential as much of the exam content comes from lecture material and almost all class points come from exams. There was a fair amount of reading for this class, but I found it interesting. She curved exams due to COVID, which helped my grade.
Dr. Pulleyking is easily the best professor I had at MSU. She is an amazing human being, and I highly recommend taking any of her courses. There is a lot of reading to do, and class attendance is mandatory as exams are 90% over class lectures and notes, but it is entirely worth it. I still think about fish and water almost everyday. -BR
Professor Pulleyking is an amazing person and I would really like to be her friend even outside of class. However, if you don't go to class, you WILL fail. All the tests are over lectures and reading. It's also hard to tell whether or not you should be taking notes, or if she is just off on a tangent, and the powerpoints she uses are not helpful.
Attendance isn't necessarily mandatory, but it is very important to understanding. The lectures kept me interested in the subject matter. Overall, I enjoyed this class, but there is a fair amount of reading, and the tests require you to know specific information.
Dr. Pulleyking is an amazing human and extremely knowledgeable, she genuinely cares about each of her students and making sure they get something out of the class. If youre looking for an extremely organized class and professor, this isnt it, but you will learn a great deal and enjoy the course. Attendance is 100% mandatory if you want to succeed
Pulleyking is very nice lady and I enjoyed getting to know her. The essays she assigned though were 2 pages and assigned 1-3 days before they were due. This was definitely an interesting class so as long as you're ok with last minute assignments and discussions it's a fun class to take.
This was a really interesting class, but it should not be a gened/100 level class. It is very hard for what it is worth, but it was fascinating to learn about. I had a hard time grasping the concepts and understanding the readings. Oh yeah be prepared to read A LOT in this class if you want to pass.
The content is absolutely fascinating and Pulleyking is a great lecturer. Take this class in person though or make friends with someone who does. Read the assigned books. 75% of her tests are taken from these. Hard for a gen ed but engaging if you're interested in religious ethics.
I strongly disliked this professor and this class. She is very biased and seems to want to discourage students to have any faith at all. We had to get four books which were used on the tests. Her exams werent proctored which was nice but there was a lot crammed into every exam. She has really high expectations. Honestly 1/10 :(
She is a very kind person. However, she does not know how to do online classes whatsoever. She doesn't give you details on any of the assignments that are due and expects us to already know what she wants from us. Her lectures are great, but that doesn't change the fact that the online part is so difficult to understand.
Dr. Pulleykinf would be a great teacher if she would stay on the topic of religion. In her video lectures, she would often talk about her beliefs on a topic whether it pertained to the lesson or not. She often brings politics into the class where they are not needed. She also makes it seem like no one should believe in a religion.
Dr. Mick is a very sweet lady, but is consistently aloof and confusing. Deadlines and instructions are always changing. She is easy to get in contact with but judgmental when you ask for help. Lectures were often TED talks from other professors and tests were confusing and not based on anything we had discussed in class. She is not structed at all.
This professor is by far the best one I've ever had at MSU. Missouri State University is so incredibly lucky to have her. You will absolutely love this instructor. This instructor is very straightforward and helpful if you ever need to talk to her. Be sure to take notes during her lectures and read the textbook!
This was a good class. The tests have more questions than minutes allowed for the exam to minimalist people using notes. She's very insightful and NOT biased towards one religion or idea/thought. She uses good examples to understand the topic. You need to make notes during lectures or else you won't succeed. Make notes over films and books as well.
She is an amazing storyteller and talented lecturer. She really cares about what she is talking about and gives the class a very interesting perspective. I have really enjoyed her class.
Amazing professor, so intelligent! Her lectures are something you do not want to miss!
Micki is an engaging lecturer, but the course demands regular attendance and heavy reading. To succeed, take notes diligently, use the textbook, and consider tools like unstuckstudy alongside other study aids. Overall, an insightful class if you're invested in the subject matter.
I took Religion 100 online with this professor. Although there weren't many assignments/points in the class the assignments weren't very difficult. I thought that it wasn't very hard and tests were not proctored. I would definitely recommend taking this course with her.
Dr. Pulleyking's lectures are amazing. You can tell she truly loves what she teaches and it translates. I really enjoyed her class. She curves her tests. None of her tests are proctored, however she does not allow much time to deter students from using notes.
I just graduated and I've had Dr. Pulleyking for 3 classes (REL 100, REL 347, UHC 410). Long story short, she's my favorite professor ever, and I'm a microbiology major. Taking REL 100 first semester with her inspired me to take up a religious studies major because she make it soooo interesting. It's a good amount of reading, but it's so cool.
I noticed this instructor does not show any respect towards heterosexual white males. She can be quite rude and arrogant if she feels a student does not share her socialist ideals.
I took Rel 100 with Dr. Mick. The class was very informative, and she is great at integrating stories into her lectures. I hope to be in a class of hers again!
