BEST CLASS AND PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD. HE HAS THE EASIEST TESTS AND ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS KNOW YOUR LECTURE NOTES. IT'S A BIT BORING, BUT HE MAKES UP FOR IT IN HIS LOOKS. HE'S NICE TO LOOK AT EARLY IN THE MORNING. :)

MICOL CHRISOPHER ROCKS. Harvard undergrad and cal tech grad. Very enthusiastic and ready to help his students in Astronomy, very detailed and organized.

without a doubt the coolest teacher ever!!! this guy is so smart when it comes to astronomy. he will get you hooked into the subject. easy tests just make sure to take notes. every answer on the test is on his reviews so make sure to do them.

He is such a good teacher. Likes what he teaches and gets you to be interested as well. Gives extra credit opportunites before every exam and his quizzes are easy. Gives out some projects but they're easy as well. GOOD GUY! TAKE HIM!

Very sweet and nice. Learns everyones names and never takes roll. Homework is ridiculously easy and tests are a breeze. Makes you really want to look at the stars more often. Totally understanding if you forget something or lost it. Easy to reach him through email and he's very personable. He's my favorite teacher.

Very good teacher, take him, easy class, offers tons of extra credit, you don't turn in hw, quizes are very easy, drops 1 exam, and 2 quizes, you have to take him.

A very good professor when it comes to Astronomy. Gives out clear notes, which have everything needed to study for quizzes and tests. There is a quiz every week, and three midterms, which are super easy. He drops the three lowest quizzes, and one lowest midterm. Two observing projects in the class, which are super easy as well. I had a 110% in class

This professor was fun and learned alot. He was easy to understand and made astronomy more interesting to learn. Some one that was easy to go to for help.

Professor Christopher is a really good teacher. He explains a hard subject matter in a way that can be understood by everyone. I really enjoyed being in his class. I would take him again for the lab. Highly recommended. No essays on the mid-terms just multiple choice and short answer.Wonderful teacher.

He is AWESOME!!! Take him!!! Well, this guy is super nice and easy. He has quizs every week and 3 midterms plus 1 final, but don't be scared, they are all SUPER EASY!!! And he will drop 3 quizs with lowest grades, which means you probably can be absent 3 times... Nice guy, take him!

The BEST teacher ever! I strongly recomend taking his class. 3 Midterms, quizzes every week (but they are easy) and of course a final. Micol is a great person and I appreciate him so much.

Great Professor! He explain the material so clear that no one cannot understand. Easy class as long as you attend to the lecture and do the hw (does not collect). I didn't know anything before this class, but after taking this class, I truly learned a WHOLE LOT about what's UP THERE!! FUN CLASS!!!

Great lectures not boring. Will tell you everything you need to know for the test on the Study Guides and make sure to study those study guides and quiz's for the test, a lot of his questions come form that. Good Luck!!

excellent professor. anyone who says anything bad about him is a horrible person. micol is so helpful and is a great professor. he really makes class interesting. i would HIGHLY recommend him and would take him again.

I didn't buy the book and I got an A. As long as you go to class you will get everything that you need for the test. He gives homework that you dont turn in but if you fill in the questions and study them you will get an A. I learned more from his class than any other on campus.

This professor teaches really well and not only that, his tests are straight from his lectures, so don't miss out on his classes! He's quirky, but that what makes him a good teacher I would say. TAKE HIM and you WONT regret it. gives out lots of extra credit too! i got an A with ease

I had him for the link classes astro 5 and the lab, he's a great teacher, nice and helpful it has been my favorite class really intersting and he really is there to help you until you understand the subject!

Micol is such a great teacher and loves what he does. He will get you intrested in the subject and will go out of his way to help.

He is friendly and always helpful. We only had two exams and he gives you what to study. I would recommend him to everyone.

One of the best teachers on campus, and I've had a lot. Super nice, extremely helpful, gives interesting lectures, knows what he's talking about and gives study guides for all the tests. Got an A without getting the book. Extremely recommended for anyone who wants an easy A and learn at the same time.

I took his joint lecture/lab class, and he has got to be the BEST teacher on campus. EXTREMELY nice, gives an endless amount of extra credit, makes class fun. Don't even need the textbook. I got over 100% in both classes. He gives THAT MUCH EC. Amazing, amazing teacher. I highly recommend him. Really going to miss his class!

I took Micol for lecture/lab and have to say the best proffesor in Mt. Sac. He teaching style is very clear and helpfull, he makes the subject fun. I would highly recommend taking his class.I got an A in both classes.

Mr Christopher is such a great excellent wonderful teacher! I had him Fall of 09 and he was amazing!! He is so sweet nice and caring. If you can get him your very lucky because he is the absolute best!!

Top-Notch professor! This guy makes class makes class a blast. He is really creative and wants you to share in the passion that is the universe. His rooftop viewing sessions are cool and will give lots of xtra credit. See him at office hours and he will be more than willing to go over concepts that you may not have gotten the first time around.

Micol was hands down the most amazing professor I've ever had within my entire college career. If there were more professors like Micol, then MtSac would be a much better place. I encourage EVERYONE to take his class at least once, even if your not interested in the topic: he makes a believer out of you.

professor Christopher is the best! he is very caring and helpful. his study guides help a great deal, because they prepare you for the test. you do have to study, but his test are pretty easy and shouldnt be too hard. definitely would recommend to anyone. just make sure you do the study guides and you will be fine.

Micol is such a great astronomy teacher! I was always fascinated about astronomy and this professor really makes you enjoy it. I also had a fun time doing one of his projects which is a trip to the Griffith Observatory. Best professor ever!

Micol is an AMAZING teacher. Incredibly helpful and really concise. He's really easy going, his lessons are FUN and relevant, and he's a really easy grader. Astronomy was definitely my favorite class when I took him, and I definitely recommend him to everyone! :D

Easily the best prof. I had this semester. He teaches really well ... that's probably why the class seems so easy. Just take notes, do the study guides and projects, study for the midterms and finals, and you'll def. get an A. I'd recommend him to EVERYONE. :)

Honors & Lab:Interesting, fun & fairly easy projects. Take the lab-go to the planetarium, ride/watch the roller coaster! Do not buy the books, what he does not cover in class is easily found online so save your money. Weekly quizzes were 15 questions and 1 short answer, not bad. Ask tons of questions and beware of the short answer exam questions!

He's considered the BEST astronomy professor ever! Class is easy and very, very fun! Highly recommended!

Awesome teacher. The book isn't necessary if you take good notes which shouldnt be hard because he talks at a good pace and is willing to wait for the class to get all the info. The projects he has the class do are easy and fun.

He is extremely insightful, interesting, and fun. The best way I can describe this teacher is like this. Remember in 3rd grade, how easy it was to understand everything because the teacher made everything extremely clear, easy and fun? That is exactly the same vibe you get from his class. Fun activities, easy tests, and you learn a lot!

I think he's probably the best professor I've ever had in college thus far. He makes astronomy fun and exciting. He loves the subject, and you can tell he loves teaching it. I believe if you do your assignments and study guides you should do well! I would definitely recommend him to anyone interested in taking this class, honors or not.

Micol Christopher is an awesome professor. I'm not a brown noser, but he truly is. He is extremely helpful, insightful and considerate. It is very important that you attend every class because lectures are detailed--a couple skipped classes and you will surely find yourself in a hole. The key to success in Micol's class is the ability to listen.

How to take notes: 1. If professor ask a question, write it down. 2.when he provides you with the answer, write it down. He doesn't write everything that you will need to answer the study guides questions on the board, so listen carefully. You don't need eyes to listen. His class is information packed and interesting. I relied on my notes and got A

GO TO CLASS! If you miss just one class, you will miss a LOT of information that WILL be on the test. That being said, he's super passionate about astronomy and extremely enthusiastic. Take him! His lectures WILL interest you, whether you're into astronomy or not. GREAT way to start your day!

1 of my favorite professors. Lots of info & projects but very interesting! Isn't usually hard to pay attention. Don't be lazy & you'll be fine. Notes are on the board but it helps to write down more than that. Weekly quizzes & study guide questions will benefit you. They mirror exams, but don't throw them away as they will all help for the final.

Words can't describe how amazing he is! Great professor, passionate about astronomy & teaching. Never a boring lecture! Attend every meeting and take good notes! A couple fun projects. Quiz every week. Gives study guides for each test. Keep them all for the final! Hands down one of the best classes I've ever had! Learned a lot & had a lot of fun!

These people are not kidding, he is the best teacher I've ever had. He is funny and smart and cool and nerdy and cute. His instruction is clear, organized and easy to follow. He went to Harvard and is one of the smartest teachers I have ever had. TAKE HIM you will love the class!!!

He is a really great teacher that is passionate about what he teaches. Plus, this class is definitely an easy A. I barely study before quizzes and exams and I have a A-. Just do the activities he assigned and the study guide, you should be good to go. This is the class to take if you just want an easy A class

He is "DA BEST"! That is exactly what I told my friends about him everyday. He is intelligent, witty, smart, enthusiastic, understanding, flexible, and very down to earth. I took this class just for honor's credits but can't believe how much I got out of it. He went to Harvard just for his undergrad and later went to Cal Tech. Enough said!

MC is a very smart man when it comes to Astronomy! i didn't realize how much i learned from his class until now. i remember everything we did in his class and i always think of the things i got out of Astronomy. if you want to learn alot about Science/Astronomy, he's it.

I felt like I was in kindergarten again, and I mean that in a good way. Christopher had so much excitement and love for the subject as well as understanding of college students. Simply put, he's the best.

There's a quiz once a week and there are two midterms. The class is pretty interesting and you actually have to read the book. The assignments are relatively easy and Professor Christopher is very approachable and helpful

If there were a professor deserving of a perfect score, he'd be it. His tests and quizzes are structured to his notes. He's not only eloquent with his explanations, but succinct. He's very organized. He's very affable, and he's without a doubt, a master at what he does. His class isn't only engaging, you learn a lot. A sublime instructor.

Wow, I took this class for my science GE and was blown away. Professor is so passionate and fun that it makes the class enjoyable. If you pay attention to the lecture and do the reading questions, you're good for the class. I had zero knowledge of astronomy before this class and now it's something that is so interesting to me.

One of the best teachers I have ever had in Mt. Sac. The class itself isn't as easy as some make it out to be, however he made it incredibly interesting and fun. I learned so much and now have a new respect for astronomy. He is very clear, a superb lecturer and is super chill. Highly recommended!

Lectures are important in doing well in the class as they pertain to what will be on the weekly quizzes. Lots of projects (5-6) but they aren't too difficult to do. Power point presentations. He has very clear explanations. 5 tests ( 3 regular tests, 1 midterm & 1 Final). There is a quiz every week. Reading is "required" but I honestly got an A without reading. But if Astronomy isn't your strength you should read. Only complaint is I wish he would show more videos instead of pictures. Take him trust me!

Awesome class!!! I really recommend his class... The grading criteria is very cleared easy. You don't even need to love astronomy to pass, just pay attention and the rest will be easy. He gives a paper with what will be on the test so you could prepare with that. Take his class... you wont regret it!!!

By far, one of the best professors at Mt. SAC. Very passionate about astronomy. Weekly quizzes. 3 Tests. M/C and just 1 short answer response on quiz; M/C & short answer responses on tests. Take good notes at lecture and read the book to prepare for the quiz. Assignments are cool- group presentations (2), regular hw assignments, and a project.

This was one of the most entertaining class I've ever had at Mt. Sac. Michael really loves to teach and makes understanding astronomy very easy. There are weekly quizzes, but they are fairly easy if you pay attention and use the study guides he gives you.10/10

Professor Christopher is truly an amazing professor who is incredibly passionate about Astronomy. His class was one of the first online classes I have taken, and it was stellar. We had easy quizzes every week (based off the lectures/readings, 15 ?s), two projects (didn't do one and still received an A in the class), & a required observatory visit.

I took this course online, but it was still exquisite. He's passionate about what he teaches, make it understandable and relatable for the everyman, and super engaging as well. This was the best online course I've ever taken, and I wish they could all be this good.

Easy class but quite a lot of work. I took this class online and everything went pretty smooth. He is a very nice professor and gives a lot of extra credits. There are quite a few projects and a lot of videos you have to watch each week. Exams were open notes and open book, which is awesome. Amazing professor, highly recommended.

I took this class to fulfill my General Ed requirements for fall 2017, and it was an absolute blast. This may be the first time a professor was able to genuinely inspire me to learn. Micol is very passionate about the materials he gives & is interesting in his lectures and the lab handouts. Be prepared for the weekly quizzes & take lecture notes!

I took Professor Christopher for both astro 5 and the lab in different semesters and he was great in both! This Lab in particular was easy and fun! As long as you go to class and participate in the Labs and study quizzes you should pass with a breeze. Great class to take for that lab credit.

Micol is a great man. Even though the class was on friday, he makes it a great friday morning. His passion for astronomy and his humor makes going to class enjoyable. The assignments were fun as well. Also make sure to read and study the power points for his weekly quizzes. The difficulty of the class depends on your work ethic! Highly suggest him!

Prof. Christopher is the BEST ASTR (or any other subject) teacher on campus! He is passionate about astronomy and genuinely enjoys teaching. His class only seems easy if you show up every day, work on your lab, and use your study guides. Super approachable and willing to work with you as much as he can. I want to be an astronomy major bc of him!

Professor Christopher offers clear grading criteria to follow. He offers extra credit that helps students maintain an A. I recommend paying attention to the material he teaches because Astronomy is an amazing topic to learn about. Take his course you will not regret it! :)

I took Online Astronomy with him and it was an excellent decision. There is a lot of work just like if you were taking his class in person. Lots of lectures and quizzes. But if you take good notes, you will pass this class. Online allows you to use your notes and textbook for the quizzes and midterms. His lectures are thorough and clear.

He really wants you to work hard for this class, so he assigned chapters of readings every week. The exams are crazy because there are more than 50 multiple choices and more than 30 short answer questions. He canceled class three times, which made our learning pace fast. HOWEVER, he offers lots of extra credit! So I still got a high A.

He is an astonishing professor who has a passion for astronomy. I took his class online for the winter semester and there were about 12-15 lectures every week with a test at the end. There was 5 assignments and the instructions for each were clear. It was intriguing to learn about the universe, you can't go wrong with this professor!

Even though it's a Friday class, the professor makes it fun. Interesting lectures and projects to apply astronomy to real life. 2 midterms, final, few projects, and weekly quizzes off of the reading. He gives a decent amount of extra credit. Pretty easy honors class. He's super chill and will help you out. Attendance is a must for lecture.

Took this along his 5L, he has video lectures which cover everything! Book is also needed as there are questions asked specifically from the book. Our assignments planned for semester changed due to pandemic, but overall it was a great class. Not crazy, very genuine professor, highly recommend!

Great class, I took ASTR 101 this quarter. His video lectures are very detailed, you need the text book for a few questions. Weekly timed quizzes, make sure you read every answer word for word before pressing submit!

This prof was great! He helped me so much throughout the semester! Anytime I emailed him with questions he really took the time to help and I felt like he really cared about my learning. Super nice and an easy grader. This is definitely an easy and interesting lab!

if you've never taken shorter term classes thinking this will be easy, please reconsider your choice. This was the hardest short term class ive taken because of the rate of material you have to memorize, understand, study and firmly know like the back of your hand for the weekly tests! the final is cumulative so you need to memorize 15 chapters!

I took it in the summer for 6wks and it was hard. Probably because the class was short but there is a lot of info to get through in 6 short weeks. Videos were very informative but I wish the PowerPoints were more descriptive so that note taking could be easier. multiple exams and you really have to study in order to pass. A few small projects too.

Micol was a fantastic professor. I appreciate his clear expectations, organized set up, and grading feedback. Although this class was taken online, the class website and syllabus was clear. Considering the complexity of the material, he does not assign a ton of work- which is awesome! The exams are challenging, but doable. Totally recommend!

I appreciate his efforts into online lectures, but they felt like they didn't give me any assistance when it came to the test. I found myself relying entirely on the textbook and external sources for studying, I wish that he would add better notes and slideshows onto canvas. Class is certainly easy to pass, but it is annoying having poor resources.

I loved this class! My lab was confusing and difficult, so I always relied on his lectures to get me through both his class and my lab class. He makes concepts super easy to understand and his lecture videos are straight to the point and always accessible. Overall I learned a lot from his class and enjoyed it at the same time. I say take him!!

Best Professor ever, Astronomy itself is a bit difficult but his lectures really help you understand everything and as long as you focus and study, the quizzes and exams are simple. He never makes you remember any numbers. He also offers extra credit. His canvas set up is really organized. Hes the best, take his class if you can.

Best professor I've ever had. We take a quiz every week, there are 3 exams, and 3 easy projects. You can tell he just cares that you learn. Accuracy is important but grammar does not matter. Doesn't test us on numbers and I passed the class with an A without ever reading the book because his lectures were so detailed. Definitely try taking him!

I'm confused about the negative reviews on this professor because his class was the most do-able class i've ever taken. I literally never read the book, I just watched his lectures and passed every quiz and exam. The exam mostly covers things from his lectures. I'm not saying don't read the book, but thats how easy his class is.

Coming from someone who is bad at numbers and knows nothing about space, this class was very straightforward and understandable. You absolutely HAVE to do the readings AND lectures, not either/or. Assignments aren't mandatory but they help prepare you for weekly quizzes, and the weekly quizzes are practically identical to midterms/final-Great prof.

Harvard Undergrad & Grad. I would've passed the class with an A plus if I would've studied more. On the other hand, Dr. Micol Christopher always managed to blow my mind every class meeting. He didn't mind me asking him more questions after class that weren't related to class.

A classic Harvard character. We had very interesting conversations afterclass.

I enjoyed the real life comparisons he would use outside of class. For example, we would go around campus during lab to get an idea of how far these space objects really are.

Took his hybrid class and it was convenient if you ever had to stay home since all lectures would be online. Everything was pretty easy to understand, however the quizzes would take a huge toll on my grade. Some questions would be from stuff we haven't covered yet, but you are allowed to use notes and basically the internet for them.

Took this as a hybrid class w/ ASTR5 as a corequisite and it was a super easy class. He gave us a huge packet that would be used for the rest of the semester but it's easy to do within class. If you ever have questions, he can explain them to you as simply as possible. Quizzes are basically the labs and you can use study guides and the internet!

One of the most organized classes I've ever taken. Assignments other than weekly quizzes are easy. It is hard work, but for once my work actually paid off in a class because I learned SO much in this online intercession. He is an excellent lecturer!

Micol was one of the best professors I've ever had, and I wish I had the time to take more of his classes. His love for astronomy made for fantastic lectures, and he's very knowledgeable in his field. Lots of helpful handouts, all tests (including finals) were open note/book, and his lab class was awesome! If you're taking Astronomy, take Micol!

I already reviewed his ASTR 5 class, but it's worth noting that Micol's joint lab/lecture class made learning much easier. His instructions are super comprehensive, and he's always willing to help if you get stuck. Definitely try to get into Micol's joint lab/lecture class, it'll save you a lot of time!

Easiest Class ever! Professor Christopher was really kind, I took him online, his lectures are very easy to understand, he leaves out hints on what you should remember on the exam, he does allow open notes and book for every exam and final. Because of him I registered for his ASTR 5L class. I enjoyed it and you will too!!

Be prepared to take down notes and utilize those study guides! a lot of reading but his work is so much fun and he will meet with you over zoom if you need help, don't be afraid to ask for help! I love his lectures and I find it hilarious when he apologizes for nerding out. Very Knowledgeable, very understanding, and alot of fun overall

Lots of lectures and readings. PowerPoints were half done, so you had to watch the lectures or study from the book. Gave a study guide before each exam. Easy homework assignments, but tough exams so be sure to study! Finals are an observing project & creative project. Exam scores can be lower as long as other assignments are complete to do well.

do all your assignments & you will pass. lectures got overwhelming at times but it was a summer course so it was understandable. 5 tests & a final exam. lowest test score dropped. a project of you measuring stars & a project where you can chose to write a poem, easy, or PowerPoint of a topic you liked in astronomy. passed without the textbook.

I took this online over the winter intersession. Very easy class. Textbook is 'needed' but could easily be found on LibGen, I didn't end up using the textbook either way. Course material is covered in lectures, and study guides are provided for tests. Pretty lenient to, with a valid enough excuse, he let me make up an assignment/turn it in late.

took his lecture class over the summer and it was great. lectures covered everything on tests and assigned fun projects. pretty heavy workload over the intersession but it's doable if you have the time.

Really easy class to take online. The material is easy to understand. All quizzes and exams are open notes. Make sure to turn in assignments on time. (Usually all due on Friday)

I'm on the final week right now and so far, I've been enjoying this course. The modules assigned are clear. The lectures can be pretty overwhelming but doable. My only complaint is that the time limit he sets for tests are too short for the many questions there are. Overall, I recommend this class if you're planning on taking it with other courses.

Professor Christopher is really kind! I took both the lab and the regular astronomy class in the summer and he was super caring enough to hear out my problem and extend the deadline. If you aren't good at math, take the lab during fall or spring so you won't stress about the workload. I really recommend him!

Great online class with engaging lectures. Use Unstuck study and other study aids to nail the exams - the material gets a bit dense at times but the professor provides helpful resources.

Professor Christopher is a good teacher and very fair in grading. I did learn a lot in his class. Quizzes and test are not easy. You have to really study.

I took astronomy 5 for a GE in the winter, and I'll say that Christopher makes the material accessible to those without a STEM background. He is able to explain, and provide information for some really complex material, and make it clear, precise, and focused. I would highly recommended those to take his class.

Prof. Christopher is so kind and really passionate about what he teaches. He makes astronomy so accessible. He's very understanding, loves to answer questions and always goes over tests and such. Everything is open note. Definitely reccommend him to get your GEs done

He talked too slow so I set his online lectures to 1.5x speed. Clear lectures, not too many lectures, & very passionate. He has you go to Griffith Observatory and essentially do a scavenger hunt to answer all the questions he gives you. I recommend paying for at LEAST 3-4 hours of parking coz it gets super crowded where you need to get info

Took him for LAB only (completed lecture last semester). Labs really helped me grasp concepts, but they are time consuming- especially in the summer. Accepts late work (not quizzes/tests). Quizzes/tests are open book and open note. Projects are fun and pretty easy.
