Ok... really boring class. He just reads the notes outloud the whole time. Is pretty easy to do well though. Can call his cell phone and he pretty much tells you all that's on the test. Just study the notes and the exact statements are on the test. Show up to class though. Attendance is a big thing.

He is a great teacher! He's an all-around nice guy and is willing to help you outside of class. He sends you the lecture notes by e-mail, so if you miss a class it's not that big of a deal. It's a pretty easy class

The class is hard to stay awake in. It's interesting when you are awake. He tries hard and is very nice.

This prof surprised me! He is really smart and makes the Bible so interesting to study! The class was tough, but not too tough and I learned a wealth of info from him.

The first five weeks had almost no point to them except a few simplistic quizzes. I think I could have learned a lot more in this class if more was demanded for factual info. Nice guy, but tends to concentrate more on writing sermons than on Exodus or Deuteronomy.

This was actually a really good teacher, very nice, dives in depth to the Bible, no busy work, easy hw .. . take him if u are interested in the Bible and are looking for an easy A

really nice teacher. also a pastor so he really cares about the people hes teaching and wants to know whats going on in their lives. i learned more than i thought i would and as long as youre in class and you pay attention you'll get an A.

he is a really cool guy. the class is pretty easy, except we have to write this crazy long sermon report thing that is ridiculous. it gives great insight to the passages we have to write, but it is way too long, and really time consuming. he doesn't give busy work which is nice, and is an interesting teacher.

Best Exo-Deut prof. His class is not very difficult, but I have learned a lot. He bends over backwards to help you outside of class. Most interesting professor I have; time flies in his class. Definately take him for Exo-Deut. The huge paper is really not that hard. Start early, and he will make sure you do fine.

awesome teacher. really interested in the subject and also interested in his students. doesn't give a lot of hw or tests...when you write your paper he is so willing to help. he definately makes ex/deut much more bearable.

Arciniega is a very inciteful man, who really could care less about how much you know, but rather how well you can apply the information. He has one paper that takes awhile to complete, but all his quizes and tests are cake if you at least read through Exodus and Deut once. This man will change your life!!!

Don't listen to the mean person. He is probably the best teacher I have taken so far. He really cares about the students and want to help you learn the material. I think the mean person is a little bitter because he/she did bad in the class. I strongly recomemed taking Arciniega!

I was skeptical of him at first, but I've grown to really like him as a professor. He brings a scholarly-pastor sort of view to the class. I don't feel we go very deep into the actual text, but the discussions are interesting. His quizzes are easy, and the one big paper isn't that tough. Nice guy.

I loved this teacher. I never talk to my professors but he made it very easy to ask him for help or if you have any questions. what was nice is that you didnt even have to call him you could just text him. the one major thing you have to do is write a paper in two parts. it isnt hard its just takes a long time. start early.

He's a pretty good professor. He is a pastor and often mentions past incidents that he relates to the text, which was helpful in understanding the Old Testament. The exegetical paper may seem hard at first but he's extremely helpful...I had a conference with him about it and ended up getting an A.

this professor is difficult but you will be GLAD you took his class because you will learn so much! And he is MORE than willing to meet with ANYONE at ANY time to ensure you understand the material and help in ANY way he can help.

He is an amazing teacher. He knows exactly what he is talking about!! The quizzes are easy if you just read the 2 chapters a night...not hard at all. There are 3 tests, which if you study, you should ace. and then there is one huge paper. its in two parts. To make it easy on you, start right when you get the assignment!!

I had him for Exo/Deu, overall he is a pretty good teacher. The class is very interesting and eye-opening. There was few assignments, and one big paper. It wasn't that hard, just took a lot of time to write. Everyday (for the most part) we have little quizzes, they are super easy if you just read what you were supposed to.

Just do it. Arciniega is so amazing!! He teaches you real God in the Old Testament. Ask any question that comes to your mind, even if it makes you sound like a pagan, he loves it and it brings out great discussions! Just read and tests really aren't hard. Papers are long, just get section one done early. He'll make you want to study the Bible!!

Arciniega will blow your mind away with a new look on what you believe. He challenges the class and loves discussion. YOU MUST TAKE ARCINIEGA. Sure, there's a long paper, but it won't kill you. Seriously.

Arciniega is absolutely amazing. He gives you such a solid basis for historical/contextual Old Testament and cultural emphasis of the times. His class was amazing. It's not easy, but any work is worth it. If you want to grow, take this class. No question.

Best professor I have had so far at APU. He does pop quizes on the readings but they are very simple questions. Very easy A.It takes only ten minutes if that to read his reading assignments. He will take his time to help you always. He really cares about the students and is sooooo smart!

Great! I was dreading this class but ended up really enjoying it! Just do the simple readings and you'll do fine! He makes you stress about the long essay but then grades really easily as long as you follow directions. The final isn't simple, but as long as you start studying ahead of time you should be okay :) Take him!

Quickly became my favorite teacher! Is really caring and understanding, especially if you're going through a rough patch of life. The class mostly consisted of a daily 5 q quiz on one ch. of the bible. then there's 2 papers and 3 tests. I wish he taugh other Bible classes!!

Make sure to do your reading on the Deuteronomy test. Follow instructions and you'll pass! i got an A, so i'm happy!

Just take him. He is extremely thoughtful and caring. He does tend to use the same students for examples and whatnot, but he never pushes the line. Extremely wise and knowledgeable. I am still remembering the things I learned in that class and have notes in my Bible from his class.

Favorite class I've taken so far! Arciniega is a brilliant prof who not only has you do assignments, but challenges your thinking. Not too hard of a class, just follow instructions and you'll be fine. This class is more discussion than lecture based, and he is open to you challenging him on his ideas. If you get the chance, definitely take him!

Great class. We opened the Bible & really examined what it said. Arciniega cares about his students & opens their eyes to things in the Bible they never had thought about before. Simple quizzes, just do the reading (which is usually short). Couple papers. Final on Deut. is pretty hard--start reading ASAP, do the extra credit. I'd recommend him.

It's been 2&1/2 years since attending this class and I still remember specific lectures. Arciniega is the reason why I took up a Biblical Studies minor. He is an amazing professor as well as a great person! I highly recommend him! (beware...very difficult class)

Speaking up in his class is hard, even though he encourages different viewpoints, because he seems like he focuses on the people who agree with everything that's being said. However, if you study the material and follow directions, you'll pass his class easily.

This amazing professor is one that you will never regret taking. If you have questions ask them and he will help you. He always encourages that you speak your mind in the class because we learn better when addressing other peoples views. Lastly follow his directions to the letter and you will pass with flying colors.

Professor Arciniega is a great professor. He is a little rude sometimes, and he he teaches controversial doctrines, but he is by far one of the most interesting professors. Kind of hard, but overall worth it.

Recommend him highly. The workload in any Exo-Deute class is the same because all the profs use one standardized syllabus. He is well-equipped to teach you, but you'll learn as much as you put in. You're pretty much guaranteed a B if you just follow directions. Don't skim over all the readings, and then expect to do well. He is available for you!!

Best professor I had my first semester at APU. Such a caring dude..he treats his students as his own. Takes time out of class to make sure you understand every assignment. Buy a bible, you need it! Also, get ready for a fun adventure to the Griffith Observatory. TAKE HIM!! HE IS AWESOME!!!

This class will make or break your faith. It makes you question all your core beliefs, and changes your perspective of God, the Bible, and the modern church. I totally recommend this class, if you have an open mind!

This Teacher! I loved Him SO.. SO much. Yes my faith was challenged but I was grateful for the alterations. Nothing is ever looked at the same way after sitting under his lectures. Please attend class and do not leave early or you will regret it. I received a B+ for missing a quiz. The experience in the class though made it worth while.

Best professor, he is extremely knowledgeable. His lectures are very important (attendance) and he keeps you interested and active for the entire time. The assignments consist of really important papers and a midterm and final. The 2 are very short (20 questions) and if you know your stuff it will only take you about 6 minutes max.

Classes are 100% discussion based, which is a great way to format a Bible class. Arciniega gets down to the nitty-gritty and challenges your beliefs. We have a five question quiz every class, but if you read the assigned text it's a breeze. The most important feature of this class is following directions!! Do this and you're guaranteed to pass!

This class will make you laugh and make you cry, and it will make you question everything you know or thought about your faith, but you will come out changed. He is truly incredible! Discussion based class, pop quizzes, so read your Bible. Don't worry so much about the Brown book. He goes off on tangents a lot, but Arciniega goes out of his way to understand your opinions and help you. He challenges your faith through the Bible, so it is difficult. But you come out knowing more for better. Highly recommend and very enjoyable.

AMAZING professor. One of my favorite by far! He cares about his students and engages well. He brings up controversial issues and relates them to class material. He is really dedicated to making sure you understand. The tests are easy if you study (got a high A on every one) and the exegetical is completed in small sections so it isn't bad at all.

His lectures are so interesting! He actually keeps the class entertaining and although the class is a lot of work, he gives clear cut directions for everything. I was intimidated by his personality at first, but after his class he is now one of my favorites! His quizzes are somewhat hard but just do the assigned readings and you're good to go.

Beware of his papers, if you don't follow his instructions exactly he is extremely scrutinous and you WILL fail that paper. Hardly any homework besides the occasional paper. RECOMMENDED! Easy A.

Arciniega basically gives you a topic and five minutes to discuss it with the person next to you. Most of the time it is something about the text that you are studying, but sometimes it's more like "What are you gonna eat when you go to the Griffith observatory?". Papers are easy, and I'm not a writer. Tests are pretty easy if you study for them.

Very dramatic professor-he'll keep you entertained. Talks a lot about himself throughout the course. Tries to shake your faith but in a good way. Easy grader and light workload lays out clear instructions for papers. You will do well as long as you read through them carefully. Personally I did not feel like my faith was impacted much but many did.

The discussions are so intriguing and will make you question your faith in a good way. He truly cares about you and informs you of just how you are supposed to complete each assignment. The last month of your sem. will be filled with 2 exams and 4+ papers but it's not the worst. Take him!! :))

Arciniega is my favorite prof. I was not expecting to enjoy a bible class, but I have learned so much and love his class! He backloads so then first part of the semester is a breeze with a few papers toward the end. His class is super interactive and he keeps you engaged. Short readings for each class & shortest exegetical paper in the department!

Coolest guy of all time. I have honestly enjoyed this class learned so much. His lectures go by so fast because he is interactive and keeps the information interesting. He knows a lot about everything and has a specific sense of humor. This class isn't necessarily easy but you will actually learn. Be sure to do the readings and you'll be golden.

Professor Arciniega is an amazing professor. I had him for an exo/deu class and he is intelligent, engaging, easy to fall in love with, and does not force his opinion. There 3-5 question are quizzes almost everyday. Follow instructions and read VERY carefully and you will be successful in this class.

Professor Arciniega was a great professor. His lectures were great and although we had a quiz almost every class they were pretty simple as long as you did the reading. He is almost always available outside of class and is fairly easy on his grading.

It looks like he got fired but was a great Prof. Tough grader but it was an interesting class. It was online but still learned a lot. Just a couple of 2 page papers and tests were timed but super easy. Very picky on instructions though and he left mid-semester and covid happened so class got way easier. Still would retake him.
