Great professor. He is not easy but is willing to help you understand his lectures. Class attendance is mandatory. I strongly recommend this professor.

stay away if your looking for an A. The professor is very knowledgeable, however,the way he grades is unfair. Their are only three grades, 1 midterm, 1 final, and the paper. And his tests are in essay form, and dont expect to get your grade back on your tests he takes forever!

He's a great teacher. He challenges you to think and ask questions. His lectures are definitely not boring. However, his class is extremely lecture intensive so if you don't like to go to class or take notes avoid taking his course. He covers the material thoroughly and his lectures overlap which help tie them all together.

Simple philosophy: if you do not attend class, you do not pass. His class is lecture based and rarely did we use the book. He assigned for us to read once and he went over it in class..you could go without it. I got a B in his class, but I did not study that much. I'd taken a different professor and switched to him. Do not regret it at all.

He is an amazing professor. Demonstrates and shares his knowledge with all of his students by making all of the lectures extremely valuable and interesting. Eventhough, attendance is mandatory it is not an obstacle because each lecture motivates you to anxiously want to attend the next class to listen to another lecture. Awesome professor!!!!!!!

Fantastic professor. Makes the subjects enjoyable and if you're into class discussion, it's a great class. Makes everything easy to understand and while the class is very note-heavy, the class ends up feeling too short on most days. Feel as if only people with negative comments are uninterested.

If you are serious about learning, Take thi professor. he is good. he knows his material, now if you want an easy class, dont even think about him he does not respond to emails and you must be present if you atleast want to get a decent grade. Great Professor! you really master the subject once you are done with his class and thats his purpose! I got an A in his class. 3 grades only midterm, final and class paper. I learned so much from him hes a very smart person. He says himself that he rarely gives A'S so Im very proud Im was one of the few :)

Prof. Arechavaleta is an amazing , smart professor. His teaching style is lecture base so you must attend class!!He repeats himself constantly and answer every questions. Text book wasn't required. Hes a great professor. Probably the most knowledgeable professor at MDC. It is more that easy to get an A if you take notes. 1 Midterm, 1 Essay, and a Final...that's it. Write down everything he says and you are guaranteed to get a perfect grade.

Professor Arechavaleta is a very knowledgeable man whose lectures are very interesting. If you show up to class, pay attention and write down *all* that he says, you are sure to get a good grade. He also hands out study guides before his exams and dedicates a class to answering any questions you may have about the exam. Text book is NOT needed!

Professor Arechavaleta has been one of my favorite teachers since i started Miami dade. keeps you interested in his lectures and make you want to learn about philosophy. doesn't have a tolerance for absence and if you skip one class you miss a lot of notes. very good teacher, i would take him again.

Honestly he is the only professor I have ever had that I feel he knows what he is talking about. I have his class really early in the morning and still he makes the lecture interesting. I would take him again!

The class is lecture based, there are three assignments, a midterm, a four page paper, and a final. Be prepared to take notes. On the classes before the exams he gives out the review sheet for the upcoming test and gives the answer for each review question if there is enough time. Not a hard class but definitely need to take notes & study.

I believe you cant teach anyone anything. A professor's deep understanding of an idea can't be passed on to a student by simply stating conclusions- this would be indoctrination. What a professor can and SHOULD do is guide students through the thought processes to learn it themselves. He does this. Funny, stimulating, easy to follow, unbiased, GOOD

He is honestly one of THE BEST professors I have ever had! His class is a never ending thinking game. His exams are quite simple if you study the study the review he provides. The paper is quite simple. He only grades based off of three things; Midterm- 5-6 page Philo. paper, and a final, SO DO TAKE NOTES. TAKE HIM! YOU WONT REGRET IT!

Your grade is based off your midterm, an essay, and your final. Both midterm and final are handwritten and there is no multiple choice nor word bank. If you miss 3 or more days you fail the class even if you have an A. And if you don't study, listen and copy his lectures word by word you're going to struggle. Apart from his I relly liked his class!

He gives good lectures very clear and concise not boring and can be funny at times. One paper and 2 written exams. Gives review before tests. He is lazy at grading I never knew my grade for my paper or for the last exam all I know is that I got an A. I would take the professor again.

Rudest teacher I have ever had. Very picky on having phone out. If he sees you even walk in with it out, he will call you out and embarrass you in front of the whole class until you put it away. Tells students they are wrong when they try to answer, very rude. HE DOES know what he's talking about, he lectures from the top of his head all class

Had him for Intro to Philosophy; hes extremely smart, all his lectures come from his head. No textbook required, which is always a plus. Giving him 4 stars because hes really picky about attendance & dont even dare take your phone out because he will call you out on it. Besides that i enjoyed his lectures & he is very funny.

This professor is great! I took his class as a retake, and let me tell you, what a huge difference! Yeah, his classes are lecture heavy but as long as you take detailed notes you will be fine because his tests are all from the notes. You can tell this professor loves his job and values what students learn before they finish his class.

Mr. Arechavaleta is one of the best Philosophy professors Ive ever had. I like that hes very enthusiastic about what he teaches and can do a whole lecture without using PowerPoints, which engages us more. Hes very good at making philosophy understandable. If you pay attention in his class, and write down everything he says, you will pass.

Hands down one of the best professors I've had! As a student, you can tell he thoroughly reviews the material as he delivers fun, enthusiastic lectures that gets everyone involved. By the end of the semester, I learned so much Philosophy thanks to his engaging and thrilling talks. If you want an easy A and coast by, this isn't for you.

great lectures, sadly i took him through this pandemic so i dont feel like i got the full experience. as long as you show up to class and take notes, your grade will be an easy A. All 3 grades come from papers (midterm, 6 pg paper, and final). and you get 3% extra credit if you have perfect attendance.

Professor Arechavaleta is a good professor. He is very knowledgeable about Philosophy. There are only a midterm, final, and essay. However, he will not give you your grades unless you ask for it. I didn't even get some of my grades. He's also somewhat disorganized as he will wait until last minute to make up his mind about due dates and plans.

I took Arechavaleta during the pandemic so I didn't get the full experience. However, before the pandemic, he made sure we had plenty of time to study and do the essay. However, once we went to online classes, he waited until the day before to tell us the essay was due, never responded to emails, and only gave us 1 grade. Lectures were still good.

What every College Professor ought to strive to be. Excellence in teaching, amazing lectures, take notes and attend class or you won't pass his course. He shares his vast knowledge of Philosophy and keeps the class engaged. Never a dull moment, highly recommend it. Study, study his exams are essay form so play attention to his lectures.

Not much work, only three papers. But he's a tough grader, so it's hard to get an A in this class. The mid term and final is easy if you've been consistent with your notes. Buy a Bluetooth speaker because he is very hard to hear in online lectures. Make sure you're in a quiet area or he gets annoyed by interruptions.

Hey guys This class is not that bad but one you have to understand is that he has only 3 things 1 minterm 1 paper and 1 final exam he does not use blackboard so make sure to check your MDC email that's where he will be sent out any information like the zoom link or the Grades. for me I have not seen my final grade yet his lecture can be boring sum

This was on MDC Live, so it was different from his previous classes since we could use our notes to assist on the exams, therefore he didn't provide a reviewer. The exams are free response and based on his lectures, so you have to be actively listening and taking notes on almost everything. Your final grade is given a week after the class ends.

He is a good professor to take. I wish he would respond to emails and explain our grades by providing feedback on what we can do better. I like how the class was taught through communication and not from a textbook. He answers any questions and is there to help. He doesn't assign homework which is nice. Professor A is an amazing instructor. His lectures are engaging, clear and concise. I liked that he would ask us questions and have us participate in healthy dialogue.
