THIS GUY IS MAD COOL. from talking about superman to explain physics to his antics when it comes to any demonstration, this guy is just fun... it isn't physics for him, its FIZZIKZ
This guy talks so fast you hafta either take notes or listen, you can't do both. He seems as if he has an ego, as he thinks of everything as simple, so simple that he blazes thru the material.
He is a good teacher.

Pretty good teacher for a moderately hard class, but sometimes its hard to understand him
Good teacher. Actually does examples in class to illustrate the concepts being taught.
hard to understand at times, but tries hard to make it easy to understand
he speaks half english
This guy lectures so hard he's always breaking a sweat. Clothes fly off as he uses his beautiful spanish accent to profess physics. Great Lecturer, entertaining.
Awesome teacher! He is so clear in his descriptions and gives so many examples so everyone understands. Study for exams and it's an easy A! He's cute too!
hard to follow..not very helpful
Professor Dorca is a top-notch professor. You can tell he is a very intelligent and insightful instructor. I felt he was very fair and a stimulating lecturer. He is the best instructor I’ve had in the physics department.
Compared to the rest of the physics teachers, this guy is a godsend. Uses different color markers for different varibales and everything. You'll wish you still had him once you progress through the other physics courses.
Wow. thought he was bad...but the other are worse...so i guess that makes him good?
I loved this guy's hispanic accent. He does use different color markers for different variables to make it clearer. He does plenty of helpful examples so you kinow what will be on the test. He can be funny too.
dont be late..on the dot hes starting with notes and if u fall behind you wont catch up but...try to listen as much as u can he writes to fast to understand it all ..he writes everything in so much detail so when u study ur notes ull be golden. he covers any possible example problem in class..everyone knows dorcas the man
he seems nice enough.

Physics is hard, I probably got a bad grade, but he is so HOT it was worth it.
Great professor...tough class, but he conveys the information very well.
Phys 204 is the hardest of the calc. based series. Take it with Dorca if you want to understand the material. He was an excellent professor, and was fair with grades.
he's not the greatest when it comes to explaining things, thats for sure. the bonus quizzes were really easy, but the tests were torture, and same with the recitation. he was a very hot teacher though =)
I haven't finished the course, but he's a very good teacher, makes the class interesting, and knows what he's talking about. And LADIES if you take this course be careful cause you might get distracted by his hottness and forget you are there to learn physics.
I wasn't very excited about taking physics to be honest. But prof. dorca makes it exciting, fun and interesting. I hardly ever look at the clock. Time sure flies when your teacher is gorgeous and smart! He explains clearly and has a beautiful accent. He uses great examples to get points across. If you take physics, take it with him!
I found the class very hard.
well first of all, it's Miquel Dorca...second, he's a really hot teacher. girls would love this class. he's not very clear with the teaching, i didnt do too well, but if you ask for help, he won't hesitate to help...overall, pretty good teacher
The material was not difficult, however the pace is pretty quick, he does a good job of illustrating main points, a little hard to follow but the tests are basic that are meant to test your understanding of the major concepts, overall a pretty good teacher, try doing the homework without tippler.
Wicked teaching style. He has an amazingly effective style- just make sure you keep up with him. usually his explanations start you with a ton of details, which then are linked and related. Leaves the student with a solid understanding. Really cool guy, too. He will help you out if you need it.
interesting class
This guy is jacked! He is the best PHY 203 teacher, so get him if you can. He gives a lot of example problems and goes over each concept in a good amount of detail. He will gladly help you out if you have a question.
Ok well...you can't really understand him. all he does is examples in class and doesn't really go by the book. the online homework is so different from what's actually done in class. take this class if you actually know stuff about physics! lab is easy though...
Miquel Dorca was not too hard to understand. He showed examples on the board which were very helpful. Online homework once a week was helpful in addition to reading the book. It was tough though. If there was a problem, he would help, even during a quiz. He was not bad to look at. He worked hard to get the students involved in class.
Tests are straight-forward but the multiple choice is difficult.
He's sexy. And very easy to understand thru his sexy spainsh accent. Uses many examples that can be applied to online homework. He is VERY helpful during his office hrs. I found building a friendship with him out of class benefited my grade ;-). Quizes are dumb easy so make sure to attend class as much as u can. they are all unannounced
very hot.... makes me melt everytime he speaks with that sexy accent of his... he is bangabal..lol
Great professor. Fair tests, lots of bonus points for nothing but showing up. Teaches well but needs to do better matching his lecture material to test material.
Great Professor! He is extremely clear, his notes are extremely organized, and his diagrams and visual representations of the concepts are very helpful. I can't think of a professor that i would rather have for any future physics courses.
Be prepared to take lots of notes. He lectures quickly but his examples are really helpful for doing the homework. Take Dorca instead of Heskett for PHY203. Material is difficult.
Dorca's awesome! He's got a great sense of humor and is a very good artist. Didn't care for Physics but now I'm thinking about adding it as a major. Highly recommend taking the course with him. Take notes and review them for the quizzes, review the quizzes for the exam, badabing badabang his class flies by. Highly recommended.
Dorca has great artwork and he keeps you interested in the class, favorite teacher at URI thus far!
I think he is one of the better teachers for physics. He can get a bit distracting though, every time he closes a dry erase marker his **** flex and move.
Great teacher, went to his lectures for two semesters. ATTENTION EVERYBODY: he draws a lot, mostly rotating potatoes and triangles with exclamation points. easily the best physics professor at URI in my experience.
Engaging and interesting professor. He is one of those few professors that is actually a brilliant man and a fantastic teacher.
! ATTENTION EVERYBODY ! Dorca is a great professor! Exams are multiple choice and HARD (regardless of who is teaching the class!) If you pay attention and take notes he will explain EVERYTHING that will be on exams and final! His sense of humor and drawings make the class a pleasure. Despite a Spanish Accent he is crystal clear and understandable!
Did not learn much from him because he tends to go through examples quickly, but he did give me a B+ so you cant go wrong. He has a very fair way for students to make up bad test grades. His test are all multiple choice also.
A very good teacher. Despite teaching a large lecture he goes to lengths to ensure that people understand.
A good teacher. Despite having a large lecture he went to lengths to ensure that the material was understood.
!ATTENTION EVERYBODY! Clear, and occassionally funny as heck. Definitely would recommend this class, although it is not easy. Clear teaching, fair grades. He is one of the more casually-dressed professors at this school. 10/10
Awesome professor. Told our class "Drink gin and tonic before class- you will be more responsive" Easy A
Gives good lectures and explains the material well. He is very smart and teaches at Brown too. The online homework and the 3 tests can be very hard, but he has a very generous grading policy for the final exam and the tests tho. Funny as hell sometimes too
Online hw, easy recitation & lab, straightforward exams. He's very good at lecturing, but it can get boring, so your eyes wander to his muscles instead. Great examples, but he should do more with actual numbers instead of variables. Draws cute visuals on the board.
Dorca knows the material and is decent at explaining it but his exams are complete b.s. The final replaces the 3 exam grades but the final was the same if not worse than the other exams. He is not willing to help outside of class either and doesn't have a sakai site.... basically just doesn't care about the students.
Miguel Dorca AKA Based God. From the moment Dorca strode into my lecture I knew this wouldn't be like any other lecture. Muscular as hell ('mirin), spanish accent (chicks be swooning), and he explains everything extremely in depth. Not only does he tell you the formulas, he explains from where the formulas were derived and much more. 11/10
Dorca was awesome! Class was kinda tough, but thats just physics in general. He's really funny and goes very very in depth with physics. He KNOWS what hes talking about. Pay attention and try some problems on your own and you should do fine. Gives lots of extra credit. Overall a great guy. His pecks pop everytime he closes the marker cap too...
He has great lectures and is easy to listen to. I would definitely recommend his course to anyone taking physics at URI
Dorca was pretty awesome. He focuses a lot on theory and needs more examples but, I really enjoyed the class. I feel like I actually learned the why of physics but needed a little more of the how. Also he can be hilarious every once in awhile and his love of whiteboard markers and color is cool.
Dorca is very knowledgeable about physics, but if you have never taken a physics class in high school before, you can get lost easily. He seems to be too smart for this class. He gives few examples but is a good guy and tries his best to explain physics well enough in his own words. Exams are multiple choice and can be easy if you study enough
Dorca is a very knowledgable guy but definitely not the best professor. Very hard to understand and the notes are usually all handwritten and in the moment and nothing can be accessed outside of class. That being said the textbook was also no help.
Dorca is smart and funny, but he def should not be teaching this class. He makes everything sound so easy and simple but wait until you see the exams. This was by far the worst class I've taken throughout my college career. He is not much of a help either during office hours. I never liked physic but this was a whole new level of hatred.
He's a very nice guy but I found his homework INSANE. I worked extremely hard on the homework and consistently did terribly. His tests are fair compared to the homework. Each week someone does the homework in front of class. This is mandatory.
Prof Dorca was fantastic. He made his lectures informative as well as somewhat entertaining for material that can often be very boring. He was very conceptual so be sure to do the homework for context in problems. Very helpful in answering any questions and always presents kindness and humor to his students. One of the best profs I've had.
good professor. very fair and understanding. lectures were asynchronous but he was very responsive. had an accent but wasn't too hard to understand lectures were also enjoyable with jokes here and there. homework was not too hard and exams were hw type problems. content was almost exactly AP Physics 1 with the addition of unit vectors.
Prof. Dorca was one of my favorites this semester, a very fun guy with an accent, but makes up for it by being loud and clear, even through the mask. This guy is a really good visual teacher, provides many physical examples, and even will ask for a volunteer or two. I had online exams which were a blessing, so I wish the best for you.
Dorca is an amazing professor who understands students. He gave us a whole week off of class because we had a lot of exams. You also don't even need to go to class if you choose not to because he posts lectures online as well.
Great professor overall, you have weekly homework questions and online exams. Dorca makes sure the students understand the material and encourage you contact him for office hours if you do not. Amazing professor and very passionate about what he teaches.
No examples in class and its mostly just theory
Dorca is great, but I do have a few lesser gripes. It's true that he does a lot of theory, but he also does example problems. Homework shouldn't've, but it took me a long time because I would have to teach myself a bit on the HW, as there were disconnects. Also, exams are absolutely brutal. Though all in all he's good at teaching and is helpful.
Very well structured class. Yes there were a few disconnects, and yes there was a lot of theory, he also does a lot of examples in class. All of his classes are also put online to be watched at any time, and the textbook is really only for the homework problems. Homework and Exams are all online and virtual with multiple attempts per question.
Loved this class. Dr Dorca is one of my favorite professors in the physics department by far. His lectures were energetic and he very clearly understands and is passionate about the material he's teaching. Dude is also hilarious and always made me crack a smile. He can be a harsh grader at times, but he scaled my grade at the end so it evens out.
All the exams are online, but the last few exams in the course have too many questions to be able to finish in time. Homeworks and everything else is pretty straightforward besides those minor problems. Overall a good professor, and has REALLY interesting demonstrations and cool lectures. Good guy :)
Really good prof. He has entertaining lectures and his class is mostly based on theory. His tests are online including the final so make friends and do them together. I never did the homework and still passed with a B-.
Great prof. Always knew exactly what he was talking about. His lectures were always super energetic. He does post videos but it doesn't cover everything he talks about in class so going to class is highly suggested. While he does examples in class, the ones on the exams are a lot more difficult. Make friends to do them with since they're online!
His lectures were very engaging and he explained the material very well. The content is a bit difficult so I recommend reading the textbook, you don't have to though! The homework and most of the exams are online (except the last one "exam 3", the final is online though).
Dorca is Hilarious and makes a relatively difficult class fun in terms of the lectures. Physics 203 is very difficult however and his online exams are particularly tough. If you go to his lectures, office hours, and east hall tutoring, you'll do fine.
He is a wonderful guy but his online exams ended up being harder than they should have been even with the extra time, you'll need to study a lot of concepts to understand the exams better. He is always available for office hours and will try to help as best he can, he's one of my favorite professors so far!
Awesome guy and super funny. He was always throwing things or playing some type of Italian or Latin music. Easy to follow in lecture and light work load.
Great and funny guy but kind of sucks as a professor. Only shows you how to derive equations but rarely does examples of solving them, which is what all the exams are about. Does not give a reasonable amount of time to complete exams without using outside resources. Final two exams were in-person on a computer.
Tests were impossibly hard compared to homework. He did not do almost any practice problems and the ones he did were very simple/irrelevent to homework or exams. Most of class was spent explaining proofs and not how to apply any of it to problems
Very funny and entertaining lectures, but I agree with others that say that they don't have a lot to do with the exams. He mostly focuses on deriving equations instead of actually applying them - which is what most of the exams entail. The first two exams are online and then the last two, including the final, are in-person. Do lots of practice prob
I took Dorca my freshman year for physics 1 which I had taken in highschool and done fine in, but something about the way his class was set up left me and most other students constantly confused. Overall he is a very nice professor but I personally believe he overcomplicates topics and made many things harder to understand.
Hes a very bad lecturer and while he tried to make it engaging he mostly was just confusing. He never explained things in a way that was easy to digest for the level of student that was in his -entry level- class. The exams were worth a lot and very hard to study for especially the final.
He did not do a lot of problems out more showed equations and derived equations, which I struggled with since that's not how I learn. All exams and homework are on online on Webassign which I think is one of the worst programs ever. The tests are very much based from the homeworks.
