HE WAS MY FAVORITE TEACHER YET! VERY EASY. LOOKING FOR STUDENTS TO THINK, NOT MEMORIZE. HE WILL MAKE YOU LOVE PHILOSOPHY.
This online class is pretty easy and very interesting, he really gets you to think about life. The book is great. Do the discussion board extra credit, it takes like 10 minutes and the points really add up at the end of the semester. Great teacher!!
LOVED THE ONLINE COURSE :) very fair. Actually started liking philosophy!!
Makes you reflect and voice your views. Will answer all questions and will even tell you if you did not do the week's assignment properly. Extra credit also builds up, and you'll have fun doing it.
The instructor was clear on class requirements and responded promptly to any questoins sent. Though there was alot of reading involved for this class. I hadn't expected so much reading for Philosophy 1 class.
Not an easy class if you have no time to read/write. A lot of reading. Open book quiz is not as easy as you might think. Some tricky questions on multiple choice and a lot of time to prepare the essay quiz.
Took the online course in the summer. There's a lot of reading required, but tests are completely open book, and essay questions are given out a week before. Endara is awesome and is extremely helpful. Seems like a hard class, but actually is very easy, and although it says it's 4-5 hrs a week for the class, it's more like 2-3. Thanks Prof Endara!
Prompt responses to e-mails. Very helpful. Lenient grader. He's a good guy! Philosophy 1 had tons of reading. Do the extra credit assignments because it's amazing how they add up. Some of the test questions are very hard, even though they're open book. Know what the philosophers said or flag their pages in the textbook to help get an A on tests.
VERY helpful guy. Hint: don't read. He assigns virtually the whole book (around 50 pages a week), but you really only have to look at the short online "lecture" and the few pages having to do with the weekly question. It's helpful to go through the book quickly before tests to find key facts in case you don't think you'll have enough time.
He's extremely helpful and undersanding. I even got to do an honors contract for it and it's an online class. Normally they don't do that but he actually took the time to talk to people and help me make it work. Also, do the extra credit (quick responses to people's answers). It's actually hard not to if you actually give the material some thought.
His online class is fantabulous. Work is once a week on a message board. Just answering one question that's about 2 paragraphs long on the material from the book, with the option of commenting on other people's answers for EC. And it builds up at the end. Two midterms and a final, open book/note and he gives the possible essay questions beforehand.

took it on winter session. lots of reading, but if you do the reading (or half of it) and do the extra credit, you'll get an A. His test questions are nit picky, so you might want to bookmark your pages.
The class is really easy. All I did was answer the online discussions on the last night and did a few points of extra credit whenever I wasn't lazy. Then when it came to test time I just read everything during the last week and made a study guide for the test. Really easy, 20 mc and 2 essays out of the 10 he gives you the week before.
Dr. Endara's class pretty easy as long as you read the book.(I got an A)The book he uses is an easy read although the first chapter is boring. If you are looking to get a more broaden your horizons this is the class for you. P.S. Easy A if you relax while taking the open book 90 minute tests, dont forget to do the blogs or he takes 5 pts away!!!
Very easy online class! He uses nit-picky test questions (so at least REVIEW the material) and the practice quizzes don't really help with the test (skip it). DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!!
Very intesting On-Line class but not easy at all for a no native speaker as me. Every week, there is a lot to read and a question to reply. Gives extra-credit. I learned a lot about myself in this class. I recommend this teacher for anybody how need to take this class. Good communication (reply back to my emails the same day).
Well organized course. He is easily accessible and will respond as soon as possible. Online course was very convenient. You will have to read for the essay and test questions, but it is not too difficult. Do the extra credit!
One of the best classes I've ever taken. Learned alot about myself and about philosophy, of course! Great professor, easily accessible. Exams aren't too hard, I never studied for them, but got an A in the class. You MUST do the extra credit. It really helps you out. All in all, an easy A that was also really interesting and enlightening.
I took his online course. It's not hard if you do all your work. The test are open book but don't think you can get by by not reading. You need to read the assigned reading. Do the extra credit it helps. The discussions are fun. He also gives you the essay questions prior to the exams and he'll pick two out of the 10.
Course is easy if you do the reading. He gives a lot of extra credit and gives you the essay questions before the test. He doesn't want to fail people, he just wants to get them thinking. And I find myself applying concepts in my daily life and in other classes. I wasn't a big fan of the text book used for phil 20, but still enjoyed the topic.
Never met the guy, heard he's pretty hot. Took this online. A lot of critical thinking. Rarely read the book, took tests looking up info in index, got an A every time. Helpful if you need him, emails back promptly. Strict w/ points, but fair I guess. Would recommend this class if you are trying to knock credits out but have little time. Interesting
I took this class on-line ( during 5 week break). Dr. Endara is very helpful-if you don't understand something, he will explain it. Responds to emails quickly. Tests are open book. Gives you possible essay questions in advance..Great thought provoking class...
a great teacher! very interesting, realy want you to learn and understand rather than be obsessed with the grade. TAKE HIM! !HE IS THE BEST!
This teacher wants to give bad grades. To get a B you needed 800 points. I had 799 and he gave me a C. I hate this guy. Take him if you want.
Took his online philosophy class and loved it. Had no interest in philosophy and now i love it. I got an A in the class. Just read the book and turn your assignments in on time and you will do great. He also offers extra credit which really makes it easy to get an A
He is the best teacher at Pierce College. 200 Words per week with 3 tests. A lot of Extra Credit. Responds to emails quickly. Very helpful in learning the concepts, and is an easy A.
took philos 1 class online. Was very enjoyable> not too much work. you MUST read the textbook. He was very helpful through email when i had doubts about the material. Great class! Easy A if you do the work.
He's a really good guy. Got a bit of a lisp, but you get over it really quickly. He did his best to portray the controversial subject (bioethics) objectively. Reading the textbook really helped, though it wasn't necessary. Tests were short and pretty easy. I'd take him again.
great proffesor.not easy if you dont get involved..discussion is a plus and he is always willing to hear your way of understanding.if any clarity is needed he will explain...he has a strong sense of equality for his students so he is fair...not much extra credit...must read book to get an A..attending the lecture is probably as crucial..
He is a great professor! Very fair, you get what you work for. Definitely not the easiest class I have taken and you have to work for your A, read the book, go to class, take notes, etc. VERY Helpful, he wants his students to succeed but won't give you a grade you didn't deserve. I got an A, but I put in the work. Very caring guy too.
Good professor, difficult class. I got an A but it was probably the hardest class I've taken. Class attendance while not mandatory is crucial, as most of your grades come from pop quizzes. Reading is not a lot page wise, but is everyday and is often hard to understand. You take the pop-quizzes BEFORE going over the material. MUST READ TO DO WELL.
Not too hard but not too easy. Took the class online and your discussion boards have to thorough. She tries to provoke thinking and sometimes it affects your grades as she takes off points. The tests arent too bad with two essay questions. You definitely have to read the book for this class.
Dr. Endara is the best! He is a very fair teacher and is super knowledgable. He cares a lot for his students and is one of the kindest people I have ever met. I took him for Phil 20 and for Phil 5. Attending lectures is very important. If you work hard and learn how to think, you will do well. I HIGHLY recommend any of his classes!
Dr. Endara is brilliant. He teaches classes on par with upper division courses at 4 year schools. That being said, he is helpful, clear in his lectures, & grades fairly. By no means is he an easy A but u will be a better student & far more educated after his class. He definitely knows philosophy/critical thinking & will pass that knowledge on 2 u.
Great proffesor, knows his stuff, doesn't have an ego, I took his logic class he does the logic problems step by step with you. Only thing was his grading scale this semester was a pain. Only 100 points in the class with graded homework, so each mistake is percent off in the class. He highly relies on the text book so it's mandatory.
Great instructor. Took this class online and he did a great job of keeping the topics relevant and discussions meaningful. Take him - you'll learn a lot about a very, very interesting topic
I really enjoyed this class! He was a really nice guy and a great teacher! He seemed a little scattered at first, but usually pulled it together. He is very respectful of others' opinions and took the time to learn everyone's name! There is a lot of reading but you can get by without it if you pay attention. Loved this class! Loved this professor!
I took this class this past Fall and it was a decent amount of reading and note taking but nothing too extreme. The professor is very helpful and makes all assignments clear so that there is no confusion. Exams are kept to a minimum and the class discussions are a pleasure.
This class was easy and educational. The class discussions were enjoyable if you are participating and taking notes. If you don't do the reading or end up zoning out you will get very bored. He is a really nice guy and as long as you do the reading reflection papers are a breeze and so are the quizzes.
He is great! Extra helpful but also demanding. How else would you learn? He is a great partner in your studies. I wish for professors like him!
Dr. Endara is very helpful, clear, and keeps the material relevent. There is a lot of reading involved, but his lectures are very informative so if you feel you may have missed something, his lectures fill the gaps. I learned a lot about myself and others in this class which was a pleasant surprise. Very interesting class.
Prof. Endara is still my favorite. He is not only a great teacher but also a very good man. He also cares about, and respects his students. He wants you to think, to learn, to share your thoughts, and he gives all the help you ask for. He is not for the lingering souls but for the hungry and curious minds
Professor Endara is quite possibly my favorite professor thus far. He goes the extra mile to make sure everyone understands the material- not that it's hard to begin with. He provides powerpoints occasionally, and most reading material online. He is very reasonable, understanding and fair. If you need help, don't hesitate to email him. He's great!
It is a hard subject to learn, for some, but he is an excellent teacher who puts in extra effort to make sure his students understand the material. He shows up to class everyday happy and ready to teach. He is a good man, and one of the nicest people I've ever met. If you get lost, ask questions because he will gladly help.
All the other reviews are true, he is a very helpful teacher. He'll take time to review information RIGHT before the test. He has a clear syllabus and gives extra credit opportunities. If you go to class, he gives you 100% until you understand the material. Great teacher.
Loved the class and Prof. Endara was great! He made things easy to understand. He gave out study guides for the exams. The exams are essay questions. It was an interesting class that he made pertinent to the world today. He welcomed questions and others opinions. Highly recommend the class. It helps to do the reading and take good notes.
I love Philosophy, I loved the teacher and I loved the class! Professor Endara is the best professor on campus! His way of teaching is so mature and thought provoking that it makes attending every class worth it!If you were to make one great decision in your life, it would be taking Phil5 with this genius!
Such a Great professor! I recommend him to anyone who is interested in taking philosophy 5 and is very helpful in everything he does. His lectures are very clear and is very organized . I'm so glad I took him
Thoroughly enjoyed this class! Dr. Endara is a very reasonable, fair instructor. He definitely knows his stuff, and makes the concepts of logic and reasoning tangible for the student. The class workload is heavy, but he sets you up for success. You WILL have to read. It's not rocket science. Apply yourself, and you will pass.
He thinks too much before saying something and makes students more confused than he is.
Omg!Professor Endara is the best!I took his class for Phil 6 and I loved it. To me, Philosophy seemed boring but now I find it quite interesting. You have to do ALL his homeworks in order to pass but his test and quizzes are fairly easy.
This is probably one of the tougher classes, but Dr. Endara is a fair grader and is willing to help the students asap. I asked a lot of questions, and he was pretty helpful. It's kind of a hit or miss with the subject, though. The book and book q's are pretty helpful, too.
This class was not hard but not easy either. Understanding the concepts were hard for me, but he did his best to explain. If you read the articles he assigns you have an easy A. Or take very good notes on the lectures he gives. Grade is based on 3 exams and 4 reflection papers. Only 100 points for the whole term.
Dr. Endara changed the way I think for good. His class is challenging, but is by no means impossible to get an A in. He is very strict, but reasonable and fair in grading; he is crystal clear on all expectations and there are no surprises. Would definitely take a class with him again. Highly recommended. Got a high A without stressing too much :)
Professor Endara pretend to be nice to student, and he loves when students call him DR. Endara. He gave me a D+ just because of 1 point. ( one question) he made me retake the class last semester. do not take him, don't listen to the ones that are saying he is easy.its like he's dreaming in some other world, weird, do not make a mistake
Endara explains the topics poorly, almost can't, the students are better and he is confusing. His offices "hours" are only 20 min. When I met him for help he was mean. First exam a LARGE portion of the class did badly. He then asked us how he should teach, so we would do better next test. He should know that! The book he uses is confusing.
This is a hard class. It is somewhat graspable in the first portion, but after the midterm it gets crazy hard. I'm honestly wishing I dropped the class. He offers lots of help, but it's not seeming to make a difference
Professor Endara is nice, but he kind of goes off topic. We had certain topics in class that we would be graded on such as diagrams and arguments by analogy, and he would only use one or 2 classes to go over each one. He spent so much time of things we weren't tested on and it seemed like a waste of time. He is a hard grader. Wouldn't take again
Amazing professor. Knowledgeable and dedicated to his students. If you want to truly learn, he is the right peofessor to take. Tough grader but offers extra credit.
needed a critical thinkin transfer requirement, and after having dropped English103, I'm glad I took a chance on Phil5. Less writing than 103 and more fulfilling because u learn the philosophy of argument instead of just writing a lot of papers. 1st half is easy, but 2nd is tough and the essay is challenging. Endara is a great teacher.
I really enjoyed the way professor Endara structured Greek Phil class! It was almost in form of ongoing conversation. Main assignment for the semester, Socratic dialogue, was one of the most creative assignments Ive had during my college experience so far. I would recommend this class to anyone who is fond of philosophizing and wants to learn more
He is nice. The class starts out pretty easy but by the middle of the semester things heat up. The homework ins't too bad, all his lectures are on moodle (great for review), and he fallows the syllabus to a T. There is a big paper at the end of the semester, and some of the material is tough. I'm not a Philo major and it's just my option.
I took Dr. Endara at East Los Angeles College for Phil 20 -Ethics. He is a great teacher. he assigned very interesting readings, he engaged the class in discussions, and is very down to earth. our grade consisted of 3 tests, several quizzes, and an essay. highly recommended.
Dr. Endara is a great professor. I took him during winter at ELAC and got an A. The people giving bad reviews were probably not trying very hard. If you do the reading, engage in class discussions and take notes, you can and will pass. He is very helpful, but you need to put in the effort. Not an easy class, but that is not a negative thing.
Endara was probably one of the best professors I've had thus far. He is very unbiased in his teaching. Matter of fact, you'll spend the entire semester trying to figure out what his point of view is. The class is easy, but you do have to read and the reading isn't always easy. Endara knows that & will help you understand. He's just kind of awesome.
really tried his best to make sure the class was all on the same page. if something wasn't sitting right with someone he made sure to slow things down and changed the syllabus according to each class
Dr. Endara is very helpful and understanding. He really tries to make sure everyone comprehends the material before moving forward. Average amount of reading for a philosophy class.
Awesome professor, truly cares about each student and creates a great environment for his students.
Made the class interesting and genuinely cares about students.
ONLINE CLASS PHIL 1. Class is out of 100 points! yes, 100 points! Very little room for error. Dont buy book - can look all papers up online. Material is ABSTRACT -pointless. Tests are impossible. Whole class is writing responses/essays to readings. Follow exact instructions. The final is 10 points lol. Hard class, hard A. Take other fluff class
Super nice guy. Responds to emails swiftly and grades quizzes and tests super fast. We consistently received our grades like 3-4 hours just after taking the tests. If you feel like you weren't graded properly on an exam he's willing to hear you out and change it if you provide good enough evidence. Very knowledgeable and professional.
Endara is a pretty decent professor. The reading he assigns can be a little challenging, but we go over them in class. He also gives reading quizzes on some of the readings he assigns but won't give it to us if the reading is more difficult than usual. The class is really interesting but it is lecture based so bring a cup of coffee.
Reading assignments which you get quizzed on. 3 exams. Non-cumulative final. 1 essay. Tests: multiple choice & 2 short answer. Study properly, and you will be fine.
Dr. Endara is a nice guy, but he doesn't always seem to know what's going on. I honestly felt like he didn't know what he was talking about most of the time. Maybe that's just philosophy. He cares about his students and grade assignments quickly. His class was much easier once we switched to online.
This class is challenging but not too hard. You can often get confused by his way of explaining sometimes. There is a textbook but his powerpoints put them in summary, I never read the book. The most challenging thing was the 18 page paper. He does really want to help you understand and get a good grade. You can reach out to him whenever.
I enjoyed taking Professor Endara's online class. The readings can be tough and lengthy. The class itself is fairly easy, you are graded on weekly discussion posts, quizzes and tests. The prompts and rubrics were sometimes confusing, but he is great at emailing you back with lots of details. There is an extra credit assignment at the end too.
He has great lectures, definitely knows the material. He does a good job at explaining the material. There is a lot of reading, but it's not that bad, typical for a philosophy class. I enjoyed listening to him lecture even though I am not interested in the material, he goes into detail and doesn't waste time.
His class will be a breeze if you pay attention to the lectures (which he records and makes available for you to watch at your own time) and read the material. Clear grading criteria & constructive feedback. He explains everything clearly and encourages students to ask questions. I learned so much. I would, without doubt, take him again.
This is the worse class, Ive ever taken in my life. The class, is so confusing, and abstract and the professor makes it impossible to pass. Every assignment is worth very little points. He doesnt care, if this is the last class you need. Because of him I have to wait another year, to transfer. Very un empathetic, and the class is too much.
He's awesome but only take him if you're genuinely interested in the subject, otherwise, it will get boring and exhausting. Lots of reading, but again its interesting if you're into it.
Although the class might seem intimidating he manages to provide excellent feedback and guiding questions to help you. He is also open to questions and helpful.
You're required to read whatever he has lined up for the week and write at least 7 annotations. They have to be very thorough and spaced apart to receive full credit. Along with this he also requires 300-700 word discussions with citations weekly. He will also respond to your post and you have to post back, along with responding to students.
A rare prof who is eager for you to voice what you believe in. We challenged each other a lot. I'm truly going to miss this class. I found myself arriving early just so we could discuss politics. There is a lot of homework, but if you enjoy political and global commentary it will write itself. He learned everyones name by the 2nd class. Incredible.
Dr. Endara makes philosophy enjoyable and approachable. The class is straightforward, with clear and manageable assignments. He's always available to help and genuinely supports his students, creating a positive and stress-free learning experience.
Logic was the hardest course I have ever taken. It literally is like learning math in a different language. This class was so confusing and there aren't any lectures from him only from youtube which made it worse. The book is confusing not sure why he picked it. He offers help but he also has a hard time explaining the material so avoid this class.
