Prof. Marrero is the absolute best professor I've ever had. He is wonderful!!! Through his discussion based teaching, he made the class feel at ease with the material and with each other. I definitely recommend any student to take his class!!!

Men what can I say the men inspired me.I had changed my minor into Mexican-American Studies.He really opened my eyes about my Latino culture. His work is pretty easy. But he is always helpful when you need it. Actually interesting movies had no complaints

Nice guy, but I never read the books (my essays came from reading those of others and things said about the books online) and still made a good grade. Very "flamboyant" if ya know what I mean

I really enjoyed this class. It was a good class to take after being gone from school for so long. I really enjoyed the way he taught and he turned me on to some new authors that I really enjoyed.

I love this class and Dr. Marrero is the best!! His course content is very progressive and he engages the students. He is different than my other instructors, not stating "his" viewpoint, but making us create our own views. All views are respected equally by him. Do yourself a favor...take him!!

TAKE THIS CLASS! There is alot of writing but it is not difficult. You watch alot of movies write a response. I recommed this class to everyone! Very nice prof!

He's a good teacher, but you won't learn much. I've taken him for both 1301 and 1302, and he's very easy. However, I don't know anything about his online courses.

he is an awesome teacher, i have taken several courses with him and in all i made A's. his class is very intresting and he would do anything in his hands to help you get an A. trust me i hate english, but the thing that i liked the most was how when ever he grades an essay he cares more about your opnions rather than the grammer!!!

Professor Marrero teaches a great American Literature course with a Latin American and Latino emphasis. If you want to expand your world, he is definately the professor for you!!!

I came to Richland College from UT Austin to take a "blow-off" English course. Much to my surprise, this course challenged me in ways I would have never imagined. As of now, I believe this course has been the most incredible course I have ever taken. Too bad UT doesn't have professors as great as Marrero!!! Do yourself a favor, take his course.

The first thing I would say is that he definately knows his material. This was the most challenging, yet most rewarding course I've ever taken. My only warning (a good one in my opinion) is that he has a liberal slant in his teaching material and his teaching style. I definitely recommend him for Cultural Studies and/or English!!!!

Great guy. He really loves teaching this class. He makes the class very laid back and relaxed. He's not strict about due dates - turn in papers when you've completed it. BUT make sure to stay connected with him. If you won't be in class, let him know ahead of time. Attendance is important in this class. Easy is you're willing to show effort.

BEST TEACHER EVER!!!!!!!! no tests no quizzes, some papers, which were very easy! all you have to do is attend class if you cant just let him know he wont mind. VERY laid back does not have any due dates, can turn in paper a month late and he does not care! show him that your trying and he will give you an A! and trust me i never get A's!! EASY!

Just show up to class and pretend to pay attenion, I didnt do the final paper and I got an A!! He missed class alot and when we were there we watched movies and wrote mini papers on our thoughts. Most of the time I would go home and read about the movies online. EASY A++ no tests or quizzes

He is AWESOME. Really knows his material, yet is always sure to nurture us and encourage us to think. Sometimes his material is a little controversial for those who are ultra conservative. Do yourself a favor...enroll in any course he teaches.

Took his literature class online. Doesn't respond to emails. The books were easy to read and all we did was post our reviews of the books online in ecampus. An easy A if you read all the books assigned. Did seem as though he was very unorganized but an easy A.

I just finished a Distance Learning American Lit. course with Prof Marrero. I learned so much in this course. He is excellent, very well versed in his subject matter, and is enthusiastic about us and our ability to think for ourselves. I definately recommend this course and have told many friends that he is about the best professor I have ever had

This is the fourth course I have taken with Professor Marrero. My friends and I are his "groupies" (haha). He is passionate about the subject matter which has a Latina/o, Latin American content on gay and lesbian authors and subject matter. I hope I receive this type of quality at U.Texas at Austin!!!

The students who rated Mr. Marrero poorly must be idiots (a work I don't often use). He is about as organized as a professor can be and he responded to all my emails. I loved his course. He's pretty amazing!

I really have a hard time with my writing, and this was the first teacher who ever made me feel comfortable with writing. I recommend to EVERYBODY, take this professor for all your literature courses. He's the best!!!!!!!!

Hey guys, I just finished taking Marrero's course. He is super cool. I was expecting a really boring English course but was pleasantly surprised at how fun it was. Make sure not to miss his course!!

I agree that Dr. Marrero's course is excellent. Also, I stongly feel Marrero is the best professor at Richland, hands down. He's very VERY good, interested in his students, and is a master of the subject. He has a liberal arts university feel in his interdisciplinary teaching philosophy.

I reluctantly took this course after reading the reviews of his Distant Learning (online)course. However, these students who didn't like his online course must be on crack. He is extremely organized and always immediately answered my emails/phone calls. Makes me wonder if these hate remarks are due to their poor performance in his course.

he was a great teacher that got us out of the class room. We had to go to plays instead of reading books and we watched movies and wrote reports. i learned alot about many different cultures. some people in my class were offended by his movies..but i seen nothing wrong with them!

I'm not sure what to say about him as a person. I took his American Lit. class Sum II and it was a very easy class. He didn't always automatically respond to my e-mails but the course is well outlined. He seemed a little disorganized and late grading our papers but in all he seems like a nice guy. I recommend him but I recommend Professor Garcia.

Took his SUM2 American Lit course online. We only had 2 major essays, and responses on the discussion board. A very easy class and very manageable. He does seem to be a little disorganized but he did respond to e-mails if you had any questions. I made an 'A' and it was a breeze. Just do your readings, get involved, and you will pass his class!

Take Professor Marrero's Online English 2326 (It's Latino focused). It is a great class!!!

There is a lot of 'busy' work that is VERY repetitive but he allows the students to work together. Take online wintermester class. 2 essays then you read about 12 short stories and write about them. You will make an A if you do your work.

Mr. Marrero is a good teacher, you have to come into the class open minded. Essays are about films and books, but he wants to know what you think about the subject. He is very easy and he will let you turn in things late. I recommend showing up to all the classes because they are worth going to. You only have 3 or 4 assignments all semester.

I TOOK PROF MARREROS ONLINE CLASS THIS SPRING.(MEXICAN/AMER LATINO STUDIES) THE SHORT STORIES ARE VERY INTRESTING. HE DOESNT EMAIL BACK QUICK BUT THIS CLASS IS AN EASY A IF YOU JUST READ THE SHORT STORIES. ASSIGNMENTS ARE NOT HARD AT ALL AND ESSAYS ARE PRETTY EASY. DEFINATELY RECOMMEND TO TAKE THIS CLASS.

If you really want to learn how to write I would not recommend him.But if you want to learn about the hispanic culture, the man knows his stuff. He is really easy,just do the film reviews and the research poject and you will pass with an A.

I liked reading what others in the class had to say and able to related to them in our assigned stories. I also enjoyed readings from different authors as it kept the class fresh and not the same type of short stories to read. I just finished a flex-term course with Dr. Marrero. Our reading list was surprisingly interesting. Also, no book fee (so I only had to pay for tuition, and no costly text fee for the course). Marrero has a fairly liberal stance and is extremely helpful to his students. I highly recommend him!!

Class is fun and interesting. We watched films and read articles. The films are about represtations of Latin American dictatorships in film. I loved the course and Professor Marrero.

Fun class, no text required. All film based, just had to write a page about the film. Very easy grader, helpful, and really nice. Def. recommended!

I took his class online. This was the easiest English class I have ever taken. I got a B because I didn't do one assignment, but would have gotten an A. You buy three inexpensive books and all other readings are posted online. Highly recommend!

I just finished taking Dr. Marrero's flex-course online. The pace is fast, but a lot of fun. His reading choices are great, from Sandra Cisneros, Junot Diaz, etc. I highly recommend him. I took his 1302 course, which he will be teaching online in the Spring. I'm sure it will be great too.

I took Flex term for world literature and it was very enjoyable. There were 13 stories to read and you would have to give a one page essay to each. Then answer 3 questions. Prof. Marrero is very helpful and answers questions promptly. Highly recommended.

I learned so much in his fall class that i am still talking about what i learned.Very easy class to get an A. If you fail his class then you deserve to be kicked out of college for GOOD!!!take him online

I took this class for Wintermester. Prof Marrero made the online class easy and interesting. Very happy I took him and made an A. Grades easy on the papers and DB. I recommend him. :)

i took this course online for summer 1 and i worked 50+ hours a week. he has reading materials online, they are actually very interesting (and trust me i hate reading anything.) he does give late responses but all the assignments are very clear. I would recommend this teacher. JUST DO YOUR WORK AND YOU WILL BE FINE !

Took Summer II. The class is a lot of work but any English class is. Professor was quick to respond to my emails. 13 stories to read and do DB posts. Watch the word counts because he grades by that. 2 essays are required. I thought he graded pretty easy on me.

Professor is very helpful when asked. If you don't have a DCCCD Email, the school filters you out. Once I got the correct Email, he responded to me immediately. The readings are great and the extra credit play was a lot of fun (by the way, the play was only $10, not $25 like the other student noted. I definitely recommend this course!!!

After not attending school for many years, I finally took this course per recommendation from a colleague. I thought this course was great. I learned so much from the course and the professor even met me at the English Corner and helped me not only pass, but make an A in the course even though this was Online. He is very kind and knowledgeable.

REALLY? It seems to me that those who give this professor a less than excellent rating must be failing his course. If you do the work, you make an A. That simple. And his readings are super progressive.

At first I was really upset because his links didn't work to turn in papers (online class). I sent him a couple of emails & NEVER got a response My classmates emailed him & never got a response either. He is late with grading things too. But as long as you do all the assignments on time u will get an A. I doubt he even reads the papers. E Z A.

Just had Marrero for May Term. He's very good and the readings are super interesting. Do your work and you should receive an A.

I loved Prof. Marrero's course. The readings were tremendous and there is no text required for his course. I plan to take him again for World Literature. I recommend him for sure!!!

I took his online class though Dallas Telecollege, Summer 1. No text book is required, the entire class is on the discussion board, he grades easy but didn't answer any of my calls. I doubt he reads your post(you get 100 just for participating) but DOES read essays and grades those a little harder. Follow instructions and this class is an easy A!

This is the easiest English class ever! The readings are interesting and short, and the assignments are a piece of cake to do. You only need to submit your work on time, and you can get the easiest A for this English class. Extremely highly recommend!!

He is a really nice guy and wants to help you a lot. His movies are ... "interesting," but his readings are good. His class is real easy. All you literally have to do to get an A is do your work. He said so himself in class. No text book is needed, but you must be in class. He is really passionate about his work.

I enjoyed reading the stories. You will need to know how to follow directions. He is quick to respond to emails, just make sure it is at the hours advised that he will be in the office. Be prepare to read an d write a lot.

This course is one of the greatest Richland has to offer. The professor is extremely knowledgable and the readings are interesting. If you do your work, it is a fairly easy A if that is what your motive is. He will answer relevant questions and posts most answers on the announcement page if you pay attention. Fairly easy class! There were several readings, but it beats buying a textbook! Enjoyed the class.

This was one of the easiest classes I have ever had. All you do is read stories (no required book), 2 reports. Thats it. Easy grading.

Took the flex term course and it was fine. You are expected to write different kinds of essays, which I found to be very interesting. The only thing that I didn't like about the class was the fact that you had to reply to other people's discussion boards. Overall, I enjoyed the class and he is very helpful. Took this on-class for sum 1. There's a written assignments that is due everyday based from our reading. All our reading is online (don't have to buy books).He grades very easy on the written assignment and we have 2 major essays which he really do reads it. Do all your assignments. Made an A.

OMG, a course with no book? Professor was great and the course was a lot of fun. I loved the course.

Marrero is great. I liked that he gives feedback on D.B. assignments and essays. He has a clear rubric for grading essays if you pay attention to it on the toolbar. We read out of the Norton Anthology. Good choices of readings and great films.

I took Spring semester Honors English with Marrero and we had the opportunity to choose the majority of our course readings. Was a very interactive class and not a lot of lectures mostly seminar type discussions. I enjoyed his passion because you can truly tell he enjoys his career as a professor and does his best to inspire us as students.

Dr. Marrero is a great professor; he grades very leniently and is very flexible if you ask. Technically, his class should be unchallenging because of his easy grading, however, it isn't. It is challenging as he gives out a lot of assignments; we wrote more than fourteen 300+ word essays and about 12 assignments which involved reading 7 books.

Took his class for Flex term online for English 1301. I will be looking to take his 1302. Take his class!!!!

Dr. Marrero was great. The course was crystal clear to me. My only concern is that my group members had a very poor command of English. Yet, he jumped in and gave my peers useful tips to correct their essays before they were due. Last, THE BOOK IS INTEGRATED INTO THE COURSE, so no book purchase necessary. Overall, great course!!

I suggest you make use of the professors time by setting up meetings with him. This will ensure you an A in the course. He's a really nice guy and cares about his students' success. Great class and easy A! There are assignments that are pretty much due daily, but they don't take long to do and are easy to complete. Teacher responds back within a timely manner when I had questions. Overall, great online choice! No textbook was required!

Professor Marrero is very good. If you do your work and meet with him, you are guaranteed an A in the course. I plan to take English 1302 and sophomore literature with him. Having 9 credits of an A along with A's from other great professors at Richland will get me into my dream college. I highly recommend him.

Professor Miguel Marrero is fantastic!!! I took English 1301 with him Online. He course was so interesting that I decided to take him in the classroom the following semester. I learned so many things. I had no idea about dictatorships outside Germany and the Holocaust. I learned Cuba, Argentina, and Chilean dictatorships and film/literature.

Took online both 1301 and 1302. There are assignments due daily during the flex terms but they are fairly easy and don't take much time. No textbook required and he is a fair grader. Do all assignments and are guaranteed an A.

I took professor Marrero for flex-term fall 2017, i didn't regret. I really learned how to write an essay. You will learn if you follow his instructions. From writing paragraphs, i ended up writing argumentation essay of 7 pages, very easy. Good job Professor

Definitely wrote what seemed like a lot of papers, but the class itself was not too hard. He picks subjects that make you think to write about. I took him online and KILLED it! Take him, he isn't bad.

He isn't tough. His instruction is clear and straightforward. Do assignments and meet the deadline, you'll be fine.

I just finished my sophomore literature course with Dr. Marrero. He was very knowledgeable and helpful when I had questions. As a note, my guess is that any poor reviews he received were from people who didn't do their work, thus made poor grades. I understand is assignment submission policy since a lot of out assignment required participation

Great instructor, took him for ENGL 1301 in Fall of 18' online, a lot of work, was a 5 week class, the professor understands you may have a life outside of school, pretty good at getting back to you on emails( In my OPINION). Not a hard grader what so ever. Will take again is the class is there for spring. Dental Hygienist major!!!!!!!!!

Lots of assignments, but easy grader.

There are a lot of homework but as long as you get them done you get A. He is a really easy grader. He offers an extra credit but you have to go watch the show. The quizes are online and can be taken twice. There are no final exam. There are around 5 discussion board, 3 essays, and many more to wirte. He always let us watch movie in class.

I took Dr. Marrero's course from a recommendation from a friend and another professor. This course content was not only incredible, but Dr. Marrero is extremely knowledgable about the topic (we focused on immigration, which is a current topic in politics these days). I strongly urge to to consider him. He is prompt, fair, and kind!

I took Dr. Marrero for ENGL 1301 online. I would always send him emails and he would reply a month later. I finally got the chance to sit and talk to him about his communication in the English Corner and he was very sweet when I addressed the issue. He told me that he apologizes and will respond to emails in a timely manner. He is a great person!

There is no feedback and grading is slow to none, but follow along with the course and you will be okay. His course is great and if you want to learn, this is the course to take. There is no slacking so be prepared. Every assignment has a due date. It is not self paced.

Dr. Marrero is fantastic. Just do the work, turn it in on time, and go in during office hours to have him look over your essays before turning them in. Fairly easy A, and you actually learn a lot!

Takes very long to reply to emails, sometimes he won't even respond. But, he's not a hard grader just follow the instructions plus requirements and you will definitely pass. I do not recommend for you to take this course if you seek help from professors often because he will seriously not answer to emails and is rarely in his office on campus.
